Me during pregnancy: odd how they say the baby sleeps when you move and wiggles mostly when you're still, this kid literally never stops moving. Literally. Even when they fall asleep, they still twitch and wiggle. Wonder if that's normal....

Me with newborn: Huh. She really doesn't stop moving. Even while sleeping. But also she kind of never sleeps, I thought newborns needed, like, 20 hours of sleep. We're doing everything right, why isn't she sleeping? And if she needs that much sleep, why is she fine with not getting it? And she really wants more stimulation and interaction than they said was good and normal for a baby her age. Her favorite place to sleep is a busy mall. Wonder if that's normal....

Me with ambulatory infant: Oh my heck she's going to kill herself would you please stop climbing things how did you even get UP THERE, you don't even have kneecaps yet! She hasn't stopped moving since the day she was born. Is this normal? I wonder if that's normal....

Me with toddler: I mean, being still is really unintuitive when you think about it. So what if she's doing hand-stands and flips on the couch while she asks me about how computers work? That's just how it goes, I guess. She'll probably grow out of it. Pretty sure that's normal....

Me with small child: Yeah, she's pretty wiggly and her brain never stops going and she climbs on everything and she talks all the time and she forgets where her shoes are but remembers the details of a conversation we had once about a very complex topic, but that's just how she is. I mean, look at me, I'm the same way, always have been. I'm pretty sure by now that it's all perfectly norm---

*sees child existing next to her preschool classmates*

Oh?

*sees child existing next to babies half her age*

Oh.

*gets diagnosed with ADHD at age 30*

Realizing I never actually posted the Tiniest Snail Shell my child found, and that is a CRIME.

So here, have the world’s absolutely BITTIEST shell, brought to you by my toddler who may be a budding superhero because I have no idea how she spotted this thing, let alone picked it up without crushing it.

I mean, look at that! I had to take this one thru a magnifying spot lens (3-6x), and it’s still hard to see.

She found it lying on the sidewalk among pebbles 2-3 times larger than it. I’ve met grains of sand bigger than this. I never in my life would have found this even if I was looking for it. And she just stops in the middle of making a break for the playground, backs up, points, and goes “LOOK!” Whereupon I’m like, “Uhhhhh.... The ground?” And she proceeds to roll her eyes at me (girl you are THREE), uses a pine needle to dislodge it from the little divot it was hiding in, and brings me this.

Whereupon I start laughing and can’t stop because LOOK AT IT

Its. So. SMALL.

Thinking about Stina just minding her own business and getting completely flattened as Gremlin comes running into her as she escapes her leash. One moment Stina is walking and the next she's on the ground and there's a little foot slamming into her ribs.

Sweet Angel being passed around the locker room when she first comes home to Arsenal and Stina holding her as she fusses. Stina's completely freaked out but Steph just apologises as she adjusts Angel's hearing aids to the right setting and she settles again.

Tesoro usually sticks close to Alessia but even she can admit that Stina scores excellent goals and briefly branches out to have Stina teach her for a bit.

Stina joining Arsenal and getting a Bug Tour and just finding it kind of funny that Bug is telling her things so matter-of-factly even though she's still very little.

Bean running around and trying to escape from Leah by hiding behind Stina and not leaving until Leah's given up.

Kiddo sitting in Katie's cubby waiting for her Mammy to finish showering, being all sad and depressed and Stina not saying anything, just sitting next to her and offering her a snack.

Little Munchkin needing someone to watch over her for a bit and Stina being the one volunteered and in ten minutes she's already covered in stickers.

Liefje regurgitated her shark facts. Stina didn't even ask. She just sat down at the same table and Liefje decided that someone needed to know.

Princesse being taken to Arsenal nights with her Auntie Stina and she's so excited and she's got a bunch of Stina's shirts to wear to bed.

Stina coming round to drop something off for Frida at the same time that Emma and Squish are visiting and her meeting Squish properly. She's still quite young but such a little sweetheart.
