With Eman Esfandi being cast as the Live Action Ezra Bridger, it got me thinking.
In my mind Ezra is with the Chiss Ascendancy in their war against the Grysks, and Ezra’s most iconic force ability is beast taming so my brain naturally concluded:

timothy zahn for the last 5 years: i would love to write the thrawn and ezra road trip in the unknown regions. they would have to work together to survive, with thrawn constantly trying to get ezra to trust him, while ezra is constantly looking for what thrawns ‘angle’ is. not to mention the endless potential of ezra being with in chiss ascendancy and interacting with all those characters!
dave filoni for the ahsoka show, despite writing the line “whatever happens next, happens to both of us” in the rebels finale: yeah, so for the 10 or so years that thrawn and ezra spent in exile, they sat on opposite ends of the same planet. :)

LU Star Wars AU: Part 3
Got a theme of noncanon characters for this one, this time we have Spirit and Warriors! (It doesn't feel right having a Star Wars AU without including Spirit)

Spirit
Spirit isn't actually related to Wind, but the two of them are so alike in appearance that many mistake them for twins. While Wind loves to pilot, Spirit's interest lies more in tinkering directly with the spacecraft itself. He personally works on Tetra's, Linebeck's, and Wind's ships, and ended up also working as a mechanic for the Alliance for a brief time before moving on.
Spirit has had his own adventures with Spectre (AKA his Zelda); he is one of the rare few people alive to venture into the chaotic Unknown Regions of the galaxy without a wayfinder or star compass and return to tell the tale. That adventure involved an encounter with a ghostlike being named Malladus.
Spirit is also especially in tune with the Force and spirits, just like Wind. He also has some skill with a blaster, and is extremely handy in space combat, but he has no interest in combat and would rather work on his personal projects and ship designs. His personal favorite is a prototype set of powered armor he designed for Spectre, but unfortunately it got wrecked in the encounter with Malladus.

Warriors
Warriors is an active military captain in the Alliance. He is also a close friend of Artemis, who is a high ranking general and a current member of the Imperial Senate. Their home planet has widespread anti-Imperial sentiments and secretly hosts a base for the Alliance, and Artemis does her best to keep it hidden from Imperial eyes.
Warriors actually inherited his saber from his mother, a former Jedi Knight from the days of the Jedi Order, and was taught how to wield it by her before she passed. He grew up on stories of the old Order and is determined to uphold the legacy of being a Jedi Knight. Part of that is looking out for his men and protecting those who can't protect themselves, and protecting Artemis in her efforts with the Alliance.
He has a certain amount of pride in that legacy and the skills and stories he was taught. He quickly rose to the rank of Artemis's personal knight, and his achievements make him stand out among Alliance forces. It took a few particularly close calls with Imperial Forces to temper his pride.
One of those encounters involved a Sith Lord named Cia, whose attention he unwittingly caught. The only reason he escaped alive was due to someone named Lana, who he later learned was Cia's twin sister. Cia still has a one-sided obsession with Warriors in particular and is determined to hunt him down.
Warriors has also met plenty of people across the galaxy during his time with the Alliance; among these people were Wind and Spirit. Wind had a brief stint with Warriors as a pilot and Spirit ended up tagging along for the ride.

You were quite cute.
You would be absolutely adorable if you actually remembered the name of Baizhu’s snake.
Changsheng.
Due to unknown for Baizhu reasons, every time he saw you, you would mispronounce or mistype snake’s name. He was aware that you were a foreigner that came from Fontaine and decided to settle in Liyue for a little while. He also knew that you were still learning diligently a langue, yet he couldn’t help but wonder that perhaps it was a little bit intentional.
After all, you didn’t have a problem naming intricate regions or reading his prescriptions filled with professional terms. You were quite adept in them, which was impressive and admirable. Baizhu suspected that you may have been a part of Akademiya’s Haravat given your linguistic abilities. Or perhaps you were a fast learner who happened to enjoy learning several foreign languages. Maybe one day you would reveal your secret.
For now, he would continue to silently observe your visible and personal beef with his beloved snake.
,,Doctor Baizhu !”
Speaking of the devil.
Your cheerful voice resonated through his pharmacy as you waltzed in. Recently, you had become a frequent customer, stopping every now and then, purchasing few herbs or medicines. Much to Baizhu’s growing concern you also stopped by needing some medical consultation. He was truly curious what exactly have you been doing that was causing you to need his assistance.
Not that he minded it. Not at all.
He was more than happy to help you with whatever small your injuries or issues were. Baizhu just liked you and your presence a bit too much to bear watching you return with various bruises or scratches. Perhaps it was high time he asked you about them.
,,I need something…”
Your voice trailed on, as if you were looking in your mind for a specific word. For a brief moment you seemed engrossed in your thoughts, as you bit your lip. Your fingers were tapping impatiently on the counter as you leaned on it.
,,Perhapsss an ointment ?”
Before Baizhu even opened his mouth to help you out, Changsheng popped up from his coat and asked you a question. His eyes were focused on you, so he easily spotted the way your eyes slightly widened at the sound of snake’s voice and how slightly displeased you were with her presence.
Perhaps you weren’t fond of snakes, Baizhu mentally noted.
,,Maybe, I’m not sure, Changsheg”
You stated calmly, as you rolled up your sleeve and stretched your arm, fully exposing a patch of reddish dots adorning your skin. Baizhu leaned slightly down, carefully examining it. He raised one eyebrow, exchanging brief glance with his snake, before he sighed heavily.
Which you took as a bad sign.
A really bad one.
You furrowed your eyebrows, mentally cursing yourself and your job for putting you through such adventures. Baizhu didn’t miss the way you once again mispronounce the name of Changsheng who only hissed in response. He was sure that if she could, she would roll her eyes. Yet, Changsheng didn’t seem too annoyed, oh no, perhaps she didn’t even mind your attitude at all.
,,Changsheng”
,,Right”
You responded quickly, mentally repeating it few times, hoping that maybe this time you will remember. Or maybe not, who knew.  You butchered the pronunciation so many times that you almost lost hope. You supposed that some sounds simply defeated you in this uneven battle.
Baizhu’s calm yet slightly concerned voice brought your attention back to him again.
,,How did you even catch such ferocious rash, hmm ?”
Baizhu gently run a finger over your skin, which send a shiver down your spine. You slightly jumped in surprise, not expecting your doctor to actually cut the distance between you two and touch you. Well, that was slightly embarrassing for you. You avoided looking straight into his golden eyes that were fixated on you.
,,Well…”
Your voice trailed once again, as you almost relived war flashbacks in your head from today. Your face was graced with a grimace, as you sighed heavily. Baizhu raised an eyebrow looking at you curiously, clearly waiting for you to elaborate on the topic. You could also feel Changsheng’s pinkish eyes fixated on your form also demanding a reason for your unexpected and bizarre rash.
,,It seems like it will take us a while. I’m finishing in an hour; would you mind waiting ? I will take care of your rash properly”
Baizhu offered with a soft smile gracing his lips as he looked at you anticipating a “yes” in response. Yet, you hesitated briefly. You looked around, scratching your head, clearly not expecting him to take your condition so seriously. In your eyes it was just a small rash, nothing too serious. And definitely not something worthy of bothering him and taking up his precious time.
,,Unless it stings, then we will proceed right away”
,,No, no, it’s nothing really. Thank you for your concern, but I will be fine just with some ointment or herbs”
You were quick to partially deny his generous proposition, waving your hands dismissingly, clearly not wanting to be a burden. Baizhu chuckled slightly, figuring out why you were so persistent in your refusal. He was aware of the way your eyes slightly slithered in the direction of his fellow companion.
,,I insist. It’s actually quite a serious rash that could easily develop into something way graver than you may anticipate”
Your eyes widened, as you let out a small and suppressed yelp. Frankly, you didn’t expect it. Your job was bound to get you killed one day. Baizhu could see that you were conflicted and that you were quickly assessing your possible options. All you needed was a last one encouragement that he was willing to provide.
,,Will that kill me ?”
You asked apprehensively. Baizhu could sense a little bit of genuine fear over your life in your tone of voice.
,,I wouldn’t say it could go this far, however we shouldn’t underestimate it”
He gently shook his head, which earned him a relieved sigh from you. Baizhu opened his mouth once again to present his final argument that he was sure would manage to convince you to accept his proposition.
,,If it makes you more comfortable, Changsheng won’t be here when I will be taking care of your rash”
Baizhu offered, ignoring Changsheng’s surprised snakey sound. She seemed a little bit shocked when she heard his statement, yet one look at your now relieved face explained everything.
Baizhu’s intuition was correct.
You were simply afraid of snakes. They always managed to make you uncomfortable, which was also one of the reasons, you were quick to leave Bubu Pharmacy whenever Baizhu would attempt to get your attention and ask you few more questions. He never really got the chance to invite you for a cup of tea, as you were always running away as fast as you could once you got the necessary medicine.
Yet this time Baizhu was confident he would have a chance to talk with you a little longer.
,,Well, I suppose that yes…I could… Thank you, doctor Baizhu”
You stumbled upon your words, which Baizhu found quite adorable, as you smiled softly at him.
For the whole next hour Baizhu seemed a bit distracted. Maybe if he listened to your promise that you would return precisely after 60 minutes, he wouldn’t be in this situation. No, instead he told you that it was okay if you stayed inside, sitting in the corner and minding your own business.
You actually did absolutely nothing that could distract him.
You pulled out your notebook filled with scripts and drawings of runes that piqued Baizhu’s interest. It seemed that he was right. Your domain clearly was connected with linguistics given that you were deciphering some ancient writing. You were completely engrossed in your task, not bothering to inspect your surroundings.
You weren’t aware of discreet and subtle glances Baizhu was giving you whenever he had a chance. You were too focused on your work, biting your lip as you didn’t even peel your eyes off the papers for a brief second. You were passionately writing your observations regarding the script, every once in a while glancing at your, what Baizhu assumed was, provisory dictionary.
The sight of you was truly endearing.
,,Y/N, I can inspect your rash now. If you please…”
Baizhu’s calm and collected voice slightly startled you, pulling your out of your thoughts abruptly. As usual, he was smiling softly, his one hand showing you the way to more private part of his pharmacy inviting you in. You quickly muttered how grateful and thankful you were for his medical attention as you hurried to put your belongings back to your bag.
Your eyes briefly stopped at Changsheng wrapped around Baizhu’s neck, concern clearly visible on your face. Given how perceptive your doctor was, he followed your gaze and nodded to himself. Right. He did promise to inspect you without his beloved snake.
,,Take your time and feel free to step inside this room”
Baizhu started pointing in the direction of a small room hidden behind the counter.
,,I will put Changsheng away and join you in a moment”
He added, as you nodded in response, glad that he kept his promise. Immediately, you felt a wave of relief washing over your form, as you let out a breath you weren’t aware that you holding.
Oh shit.
That means you would be alone with your quite attractive doctor in closed and small place.
You mentally facepalmed yourself for putting yourself in such situation. Now you were sure you’d be too embarrassed to actually start a small conversation with him. Well, perhaps if you were lucky, your rash is nothing serious and you will be able to leave soon.
Right.
That’s what you told yourself as you stepped into the small room Baizhu showed you. The shelves were full of various books about different medical herbs or conditions. You could make out some scattered papers all over his desk in chaos. Some of them were littered with droplets of ink, while the other were color-coded.
Interesting.
,,Please, sit down here”
A soft voice pulled you out of your thoughts. You turned around on your heel facing snake-less Baizhu. You smiled at the sight of him, sitting on the chair he was pointing too. Once again, you rolled up your sleeves exposing the reddish spots, as you waited for Baizhu to sit right before you.
,,Quite a nasty rash you caught. May I inquire how exactly did this happen ?”
Baizhu asked, motioning his head in the direction of your exposed skin, raising one eyebrow.
,,I haven’t seen anyone catch it in many, many years”
He remarqued reaching to his bag and pulling out various vials filled with herbs, colorful powder and some unidentified things. You let out a nervous chuckle hearing his question, which only spiked his curiosity even more.
,,Well…I was conducting my research and then, ehh, I may have accidentally touched some weird plant in the cave”
You started, earning a raised eyebrow from Baizhu in response. He didn’t seem as if he was fully believing your story. Not that it seemed that believable. You pondered for a little while, wondering what exactly could you tell him.
,,Weird plant in the cave ? You have to enlighten me, my dear”
My dear.
Oh. You were aware of what tricks he was playing with you right now. You briefly glanced at him, staring at his hands that were focused on preparing an ointment for you. He was quickly adding various ingredients and mixing them together.
Meanwhile you decided.
You couldn’t truly reveal the main goal of your research. It certainly wasn’t concerning only the ancient script he had already seen. No, you were way too careful. If you didn’t want him seeing it, you would occupy yourself differently during that hour.
So, you opted for a safer option.
,,Okay, fine, I will tell you. But it’s quite embarrassing”
You muttered, averting your eyes and glancing at the floor, trying your best to appear a tad bit embarrassed. Your actions seemed to convince him. Baizhu nodded in understanding manner, as he carefully asserted the ointment in the vial. It appeared to be already finished.
,,I literally tripped and fell into some bushes and then when I tried washing my hands, I must have accidentally get stung by some insect”
Now, that was more believable.
It seemed that Baizhu bought your explanation this time.
,,It seems like it’s caused by one insect…”
You totally didn’t catch the weird name he had just pronounced. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion opting to conveniently forget about it. It was probably some native Liyue bug that stung you. At least, that was the scenario Baizhu believed in.
You mentally cursed yourself for being so weak and agreeing to his generous offer. If it wasn’t for your slow bullshitting skills, you would probably get yourself in troubles. You didn’t really pay much attention to Baizhu explaining you the possible after effects your rash could have on your body, as he was gently applying the ointment to your skin, his fingertips barely pressing down ensuring you wouldn’t feel any type of discomfort.
,,Are you perhaps a linguist ?”
Baizhu’s question snapped you out of your thoughts. A soft smile immediately appeared on your lips at the mere mention of the domain you were so interested in. If only the circumstances were different, you would probably react with more enthusiasm.
,,I suppose you could say that. I’m currently investigating some ancient language. Actually it’s quite fun to decipher it, if you’d like, I could…”
You started rambling on, yet Baizhu didn’t stop you at all. Quite the contrary, he appeared quite interested in your job, as he asked you few questions. You were eager to respond to them, feeling proud of yourself.
You managed to distract him and draw his attention away from the real cause of your rash.
As you were leaving his Pharmacy few hours later given how you both got invested in the conversation, you didn’t notice the way Baizhu’s eyes seemed to be piercing through your silhouette.
,,It wasn’t some Liyue insect”
Changsheng remarqued, while Baizhu nodded in response, wondering what exactly happened to you and why you were so hell bent on hiding the truth.
Meanwhile you were cursing Dottore for supplying you with a potion that contained an ingredient you were allergic to.

Continuing in my Ascendancy Knight Ezra agenda may I present my angsty HC: Amputee Ezra that lost his leg in the war against the Grysks, probably whilst saving some Chiss sky-walkers.
Most prosthetics in Star Wars tend to proportionally mimic real limbs versus what we see irl so I combined the sci-fi leg with the blade designs that can interchange depending on the situation.
A. Leg mode: Walking and climbing, mimicking the proportions of a real leg he can wear pants and shoes that disguise the prosthetic. He tends to use it in civilian and undercover settings.
B. Blade mode: Running and usually the mode he uses in combat as it adds speed and agility that the other mode lacks. Also means that one missing sock eaten by the dryer isn’t a problem.

Something I've never really understood is people comparing Star Trek and Star Wars. Not only because the genres are so different (sci-fi vs sci-fantasy) or the fundamental difference that is the absence of Earth entirely in the Star Wars universe (Star Trek is meant to be about a recognisable, if improbable, future, whereas Star Wars is a Space Opera a Long Time Ago and Far Far Away).
But the biggest difference I see is that the two are set in fundamentally different times.
Yes, yes, I know that's obvious. I literally just pointed out the 'Long Time Ago' bit, but bear with me.
Star Trek is set in a time where exploration is still the order of the day. The Alpha quadrant is still being explored, new species are still being discovered. The Beta and Gamma quadrants are the big new frontiers. The Delta Quadrant has one very hazily mapped squiggly line with a few gaps thanks to Voyager but even that small portion was chock full of New Things. The Galaxy is still divided and unknown with new stations and trade routes popping up all over the place.
Meanwhile Star Wars is old. Real old. By the time of the Clone Wars the Republic has gone through different eras. There was a golden age. It has come and gone already. Sure there are still the Unknown Regions but it is fairly fucking rare to come across a brand spanking new space-faring race or rival government. Coruscant as the heart of the Republic has not been outright attacked for a millennium by the time of the CW. The galaxy is such a hot mess of a melting pot that only the truly reserved and isolationist species are rare to see. Humans have been buggering about and propogating so much that now its impossible to tell where they actually all came from because Alderaan? Naboo? Corellia? All major human hubs, but you could say the same about dozens of other planets, and as far as anyone can tell, at least some of the near-human species are almost definitely genetically related to humans so there has clearly been enough time for some natural evolution after the space travel.
I just find it so interesting that people try to compare them when they are at fundamentally different stages of galactic development. Its like comparing the Wild West to the modern day. The galactic governmental structures and attitudes are so amazingly different and that is to the franchises' strengths.
Star Trek is about, at its most basic point, exploration.
Star Wars is about, again at its most basic, adventure.
Sounds similar? They are similar, but whereas in Star Trek the New Things are new, in Star Wars they're new to those characters, or at least new to the audience.
Kirk and Spock are exploring the unexplored.
Luke and Han and Leia are having adventures in an already clearly established society. They forging new paths in an already defined environment.
They're both also, coincidentally, fighting evil Space Fascists but that's just par for the course. I think something about space just Does That. The Void inspires assholes to go 'I can conquer those stars!' only for said stars to pull an uno reverse in the shape of a blond kid with little to no self-preservation skills but a knack for flying spaceships.
Something something space something something sci-fi.
TL:DR Star Wars and Star Trek are different on so many levels but the most interesting one is the fact they're represent galactic civilisation but at different stages. The 'fun, exploration, everything-is-new!' stage, and the 'established society including rampant corruption, unfortunately' stage.
I love 'em both.

■ Story
For years now, the Shinra Electric Power Company has been providing the world with energy at the expense of the lifestream, the “river” whence all life flows and whither it returns.
After storming the company’s headquarters and engaging in a series of battles for the ages, Cloud and his companions leave Midgar behind and set out for the wider world. Once in the grasslands, they hop aboard chocobos and embark on a journey with an unknown destination.
Meanwhile, Zack—beaten and battered from his fight against an army of troopers—hobbles across the wastelands into Midgar with a mako-poisoned Cloud on his shoulder. Though he has managed to escape death for now, the ominous rift in the sky gives him little reason to rejoice.
That is hardly the only threat facing the world, however. The Shinra Resistance Committee, backed by Wutai’s interim government, declares war on the company; figures shrouded in black robes carry with them the corpse of Jenova, a veritable calamity from another world; and the Weapons—fierce and monstrous guardians of the planet—have recently awakened.
Amid this chaos, Sephiroth has set his plan in motion, thus ensuring myriad fates intertwine and are birthed anew.

An ex-SOLDIER: first class, Cloud came to Midgar to start a new chapter of his life as a mercenary. At the invitation of his childhood friend, Tifa, he accepts a job with Avalanche. Together, they confront Shinra, ultimately leaving Midgar behind in pursuit of Sephiroth and the truth─a quest which will lead them to defy destiny itself.

He fights by switching between modes specializing in mobility and offense. A single swipe of his huge sword can knock several foes off their feet at once. Some of his abilities also allow him to take the fight to the air.
Barret Wallace (voiced by John Eric Bentley in English, Masato Funaki in Japanese)
“This is the planet we’re talkin’ about! Y’all know she’s gonna pour her heart and soul into this fight!”

The leader of an independent Avalanche cell, Barret spearheads an operation to take down Shinra’s mako reactors. He pays a hefty price for this, however, when the company retaliates, and his comrades die in the crossfire. Armed with the memories of his lost friends and the newfound knowledge of Sephiroth’s plans, he departs Midgar in hope of saving the planet and safeguarding a future for his daughter Marlene.

What he lacks in speed, he makes up for in both sturdiness and strength, converting his anger toward Shinra into raw firepower. He employs a variety of ranged attacks, from rapid-fire salvos to powerful explosions, which allow him to strike foes high in the air or across the battlefield.
Tifa Lockhart (voiced by Britt Baron in English, Ayumi Ito in Japanese)
“Ever wish you could just snap your fingers and forget the worst stuff?”

Though a loyal member of Avalanche—an underground organization that opposes Shinra—Tifa nevertheless questions the group’s extremist tactics, struggling to reconcile her cause with her conscience. This internal conflict reaches a fever pitch when her group’s actions effectively lead to the fall of the Sector 7 plate. Racked with guilt, she leaves Midgar in search of a new path to tread.

She strings together swift combos while utilizing a variety of martial art techniques. Her ATB fills quickly, allowing for the use of multiple abilities in rapid succession. She also boasts several skills that deal more damage to airborne or staggered foes.
Aerith Gainsborough (voiced by Briana White in English, Maaya Sakamoto in Japanese)
“Just look at it all… A living, breathing planet. Even after everything we’ve done to it, it’s still going strong.”

A flower seller who lives in the Sector 5 undercity and the last remaining descendant of the Cetra, a people known for communing with the planet. Shinra takes her prisoner in their efforts to reach the Cetra’s foretold “promised land,” but Cloud and company come to her rescue. She escapes Midgar and embarks on a journey into the outside world of which she has long dreamed.

Utilizing the power of magic, she casts spells from a safe distance and launches attacks that home in on her foes. She can also conjure beneficial wards and warp between them, as well as restore the party’s HP with her limit break.
Red XIII (voiced by Max Mittelman in English, Kappei Yamaguchi in Japanese)
“I may be clad in fur…but that doesn’t mean I’ll purr.”

Red XIII is a beast with a flaming tail, crimson fur, deadly claws, and the ability to speak. Cloud and company help him escape Professor Hojo’s clutches, and he decides to join them on their journey. His species is known for their long life spans, and he is no exception. As this Cosmo Canyon native is the eldest member of the party, he offers its members words of wisdom from time to time.

He sets upon foes with an unrelenting assault, laying into them with a beastly ferocity. Guarding against incoming attacks will feed his Vengeance gauge. Once it is full, he can unleash his inner beast, but sufficient skill is required to maximize its potential.
Yuffie Kisaragi (voiced by Suzie Yeung in English, Yumi Kakazu in Japanese)
“If I win, you get the honor of serving yours truly!”

A member of Wutai’s elite corps of ninja operatives, Yuffie infiltrates Midgar on a mission to steal the “ultimate materia” from Shinra. Her plan ends in disaster, as she fails to claim the materia and loses her partner Sonon in the struggle. Just as working alone begins to take its toll on her, however, Cloud’s group comes into the picture.
—Weapon: Throwing Star
Using her throwing star and ninja skills, she excels at both long- and close-range combat. Elemental ninjutsu allows her to exploit enemies’ weaknesses without relying on spells. She also keeps opponents on their toes with a variety of aerial attacks and tricky techniques.
Cait Sith (voiced by Paul Tinto in English, Hideo Ishikawa in Japanese)
“Alright, everyone! By popular request: a fortune or two to steer you true!”

A wisecracking, feline-shaped robot often seen poised atop his big moogle pal. One of the Gold Saucer’s most popular mascots, he is well loved for his fortune telling—a service he also offers to Cloud and friends. His adorable appearance also belies access to a surprising amount of insider intel on Shinra.

A former SOLDIER: 1st class of legendary renown, he is said to have died in the line of duty in Nibelheim five years ago. This is proven untrue when he appears at the Shinra Building and absconds with a research specimen known as “Jenova.” He now toys with Cloud at every opportunity, seeking to change the course of destiny and rule the planet.
Zack Fair (voiced by Caleb Piece in English, Kenichi Suzumura in Japanese)
“I dunno—hopes? Dreams, maybe? Something like that! So long as we’ve got those—and hold on tight and never let go.”

Zack may have worked with Sephiroth as a SOLDIER: 1st class, but he trained under a different operator, and it is from this man that he both learned to take pride in his work and received his iconic buster sword. After a grueling battle in which he overcomes the odds and cheats death, Zack returns to Midgar—where he hopes to see his love Aerith—with a mako-poisoned Cloud in tow.

Summons
Setting summoning materia will grant access to the power of the gods. A conjured deity will follow the player’s lead and fight enemies automatically, but you can also instruct them to use special abilities. Before they depart the battlefield, summons will unleash one final attack powerful enough to wipe out any foe.
Odin
A horse-riding swordsman who brandishes an enormous blade known as Zantetsuken. He gallops toward foes and sends them flying with a single, sweeping slash.

Synergy Abilities
Powerful attacks in which two characters team up to turn the tide of battle. Divine and Draconic Differences
The skies were clear and the weather was pleasant as the heroes congregated outside of Wild and Flora’s Hateno home. It was peaceful, a nice and welcomed reprieve from the era before.
Wind, a still growing teenager, was overflowing with energy, tugging around an equally as eager Hyrule, to explore everything possible. He had his spyglass out, sweeping across the vast land of the Wild Era. Every so often, he’d hand his spyglass over to the traveler to allow him a go.
His telescope was focused on a chasm far out, watching the remaining wisps of gloom fade into the air. Mesmerized by the red-purple, he didn’t fully register the white-blue on the edge until it had blocked his view.
“Wild! What the fuck is that?!” Keeping his focus on the serpentine creature in the sky, he heard Wild approach his side with the familiar sound of him activating his slate’s scope mode.
“That’s Naydra, one of the dragons.”
That… didn’t look like a dragon. Dropping his spyglass from his eye, Wind fixed Wild with a stare. The scarred hero stared back.
“Don’t look at me like that. There’s three dragons, they’re all servants of the springs. Naydra happens to be the servant of the Spring of Wisdom, which is,” he grabbed Wind’s shoulder and spun him around, pointing to a mountain peak covered in snow, “right on that peak over there.” Wind moved his gaze to the mountain peak, following Wild’s finger. He could see the vague shape of pillars.
“Huh… so you have dragons too? They look different from mine.” Wind began walking back to the rest of the group, who had been listening in on the conversation, no matter how hard they tried hiding it. Wild took a few seconds to decipher the information, and ran to catch up with the sailor.
“What do you mean “you too”? I didn’t know anyone else had dragons!” Wind shrugged.
“Like I said, mine are different, like Valoo. He was a sky spirit I met during my first adventure. And the only one that didn’t try to kill me.” He plopped down next to Warriors, who offered the young hero one of the apples he had.
“Still! Does anyone else have dragons?” All hands went up except for the smithy, who looked utterly confused as he mouthed dragons over and over, eyes swirling different colors.
“In my defense, all of my dragons wanted to kill me.” Hyrule exclaimed, being seconded by Time, Twilight, Warriors, and Legend.
The five heroes delved into further conversation about their draconic enemies. Wind wiggled into the group, chattering about the gleeoks he fought. Wild chimed in about having to fight gleeoks as well, explaining about the King Gleeoks residing in hard-to-reach locations.
“The dragons I know serve Hylia.” A few grimaced at the mention of the goddess, but the dislike was outweighed by the curiosity of Sky’s dragons.
“The three of them were assigned to watch over different provinces of the Surface. They also protected the sacred flames, and held parts of the Song of the Hero.”
Wild was immediately upon Sky, spitting out questions with very little breaths between, all centered on what they looked like, if they had any powers, and anything of the sort.
“Of course they have powers, they guard and protect the Triforce. Even the gods wouldn’t be able to reach it with them guarding the key to it.
Gods and Goddesses were a touchy subject. Some were openly hostile towards them, others in the middle, and some revered them. Yet, the topic always raised an interesting thought; just how many are there?
“Do you think there’s more than just Hylia?” Came Four’s voice, eyes shining a curious violet.
“There’s the light spirits in my era,” Twilight rested his chin in his palm, “Ordona, Lanayru, Eldin, and Faron. They protect the regions they share names with.”
“Oh, and the Golden Goddesses! They’re the ones that submerged Hyrule!” Wind piped up, leaning against Warriors, who grimaced as the sailor’s sharp elbow dug into his thigh.
A soft hum emitted from Time, who had been running his fingers along his markings, a pensive look across his face. Wild bounded off of Sky, and settled next to Twilight.
“I know of one! Legends talk about a Fierce Deity… they say that if one dons his armor and mask they gain godlike power.”
Time gave a sharp inhale, and his fingers dropped from his face.
Others shook their heads, either not having any other gods, goddesses, or deities in their time, or having the same ones as someone else.
“Not anymore.”
Eight heads turned towards Sky, who had found a stick and was whittling absentmindedly, a stormy look across his face. They all shared a few glances- curiosity, and a little bit of fear.
‘Not anymore’?
“Oh! There is another- the Deity of War.” Hyrule broke the silence, fingers tying blades of grass into circles while his gaze rested on the other heroes.
“Isn’t that the same as the Fierce Deity?” Twilight cocked his head.
Legend scoffed.
“Many think that, but”, he stood up and turned so he was facing all eight heroes, “they are different. He’s the Deity of War, exactly as his name implies; a powerhouse on the battlefield, calculated and quick. The Fierce Deity doesn’t focus on war, he focuses on ferocity, on power, on courage. It’s in their names, it really is that simple.”
The veteran launched further into an explanation about the two, pointing out the similarities and differences, both surface level and deeper. Pointed ears all upright, revealing without words how invested they were in this newly learned-about deity.
Wild shot up out of his seat and ran to the house, slamming the door open, sounds of rustling and clanging could be heard, and the heroes remaining shared concerned glances. The current era’s hero came racing back out- not bothering to shut the door- with a book in his grasp.
“Legends Throughout the Ages” read the title of the book in intricate gold. The book itself seemed to be in good condition, missing the normal wear and tear they had seen on other things in the champion’s era.
“I know about him! Flora was talking about some books she had found in the castle,” he thumbed through the pages, “and she thought I would like this one… Aha!” Wild smoothed the book to lay flat on pages marked with blue fabric scraps.
On the pages were long paragraphs of stories and legends of the deity, exploring where he originated from and what eras his legends came from. Taking up a sizable portion of the right page was an image.
“Hey, he kind of looks like Warriors!”
Wind grabbed the book from Wild and pranced back over to the captain, who only raised an eyebrow at him, his now finished apple set off to the side. The sailor raised the book next to Warriors and basked in the ‘oohs’ when they realized that their youngest was right.
The picture and the captain looked nearly identical; only differentiated by the gold and blue markings on the deity’s face, blank eyes, and the color of the armor- a vibrant gold- and the tunic- a pale cream.
Snatching the book, Warriors scanned over the page, lingering on the photo a little longer.
“I don’t see it.”
That caused an uproar, as Wind and Wild both pounced on the captain, claiming that he was wrong and everyone could very well see it, while Hyrule just looked at the captain like he had grown a second head. The others groaned quietly.
There goes the relaxing day they were hoping for.

Started posting my Thrawn in the Unknown Regions, Post-Rebels fic! Starring a very tired Pellaeon, a gremlin Ezra, and of course, the Blue Man Himself.
It's up to chapter 2, and I'm planning to post new chapters on Tuesdays or Wednesdays after Ahsoka, or just Tuesdays or Wednesdays once that's finished coming out. I might make some edits as my beta readers send me comments, but I just couldn't wait :)
This is NOT Ahsoka compliant; I plotted and wrote it before the show came out, so it's purely Rebels and books based, including Legends!
Summary: Stranded in the depths of the Unknown Regions, Thrawn and the Chimaera are slowly limping their way home. But they may find that the journey takes longer than expected, as old enemies have their own plans for the region… and even Imperials may find it hard to turn their backs on new friends.
