i hate marinette, here's why. (i don't hate her, i just don't like her.)
Reasons why i hate her:
Marinette’s behavior is just way too creepy and it’s NOT endearing when she sniffs his pillow or stalks him.
Tumblr media
She’s become too boring and is annoyingly insecure about everything, and you’d think that after a lot of time around Adrien she’d get used to being around him but no because plot
Adrien would be a more interesting character but there’s almost no focus on him.
Chloe could be such a great character and I honestly thought she’d be developed and fleshed out into a complex, relatable teen, but now that the creator’s like “oh she’s just evil” then i don’t know why the heck they spent episodes “developing” her and making her Queen Bee. So many key moments and characteristics, like her abusive mother and idiot father, all down the drain.
Lila was a character added purely to add stupid drama and is basically unnecessary and annoying.
The whole romance is so convoluted and stupidly written. And I don’t see a point in bringing Luka and Kagami into the mix if Adrien and Marinette will obviously get together anyway by Season 10 or something.
At thiis point Marinette should get with Kagami and Adrien with Luka cause they clearly have more chemistry than Adriennete
The akuma thing is so old now and they’ve even recycled villains. They have no creativity anymore. I am SICK of freaking Reflecta (don’t know if i got that right) appearing all the time.
Chat Blanc. Enough said.
Some people say she is a Mary Sue. Yes she has the attributes like perfect family, OP abilities she has two powers not just one. Chat's night vision is never used, her Lucky Charm and Miraculous Ladybug is an episodic ability. She is the only one who can do anything about akumas and amoks. She learnt how to fence out of nowhere, like Kagami and Adrien struggled with it for years she now has this ability too. At kawmi swap she uses the Cat miraculous without any issues and Adrien doesn't know anything. She uses a bunch of kwamis in one go, with knowledge. She becomes the Guardian when she made a huge mistake. Etc. I could go on why is she considered a Mary Sue, but honestly I don't consider her one. Zoey Redbird is the real Mary Sue in my eyes.
She is portrayed as a stalker for giggles. This is where the writers ruined a fine character. Do you watch anime? The stalker girl turns out to be a yandere, makes the protagonist's life hell, kills off his parents, friends, girlfriend, even in some cases the protagonist too. Yanderes have shrines of the protagonist's stuff, break into his house, follow home. Marinette is not that far away to turn into a yandere trope only for laughs.
She admitted herself that she is a stalker. She stole four phones trough the series (Adrien's in Copycat, Chloé's, Alya's and Kagami's phone in Ikari Gozen, but at first she gave her phone to Marinette wilingly), she stole the photographer's harddrive, tricked Chloé a bunch of times out of jealousy and nearly ruined Kagami's chances with Adrien.
She broke into his room as Ladybug, sniffed his pillow. I hate how she acted as an obsessive stalker when she entered.
She followed Adrien and Lila in Onii-chan home, she was ready to climb the wall and even asked a fireman for his ladder.
How she wanted to ask out Adrien in Simpleman. She ditched four kids with his usually tense grandpa to repair Adrien's angel wings. Because she was so shy to ask him out to the movies in this episode and Adrien too rushed back to his photoshoot. To have a chance with him she was ready to just ruin the wings again with a fishing rod. Yeah the Guardian ladies and gentlemen.
It still creeps me out that she knows everything about Adrien but she barely can talk with him. I used to know a bunch of stuff about my ex boyfriend because he was the one who told me or with time I found out a lot about him as we dated, spent time together or I got to know his precious people. Marinette knows everything about Adrien without asking him (Gamer, Befana, Goridzilla and Kung Food where I remember they talking about stuff). She knows his favorite color, fruit, his schedule for the next 5 years (I bet even Adrien doesn't know what his father planned), she knows his life but doesn't know him as himself. Samd thing can be said about Ladynoir but they have to protect their identities and at least Chat tries to know his partner only for her to remind him that they can't know anything.
She made macaroons for him every weekend, she made him gifts for his 30 years of birthdays bunch of little weird stuff.
She kissed his “wax” statue worst episode ever, the moment I started to dislike her.
She is a hypocrite with the rules. Alya and Nino can know, Alya can know her identity, but Chat can't know anything, he can't tell his identity to Nino. Alya, Nino and Luka were revealed yet they can still be holders, no matter that she risks their lives and she could choose new ones. Still Kagami probably won't be Ryuko ever again, Chloé couldn't be Queen B in season 3.
Lukanette. New York special she was moving on from Adrien only for everyone and their mother pushed her into Adrien's arms. She was dating Luka, he was dating Kagami. Still we see in Truth too that even her boyfriend Luka knows that she is obsessed with Adrien yet he is dating her without any jealousy. Poor Luka you deserve better.Give this man a fucking break.
She as the Guardian. I don't like that the we are equals plot is out of the window. Now she “can make/create anything the universe is the limit", so she can make charms, summon miraculouses, save the day as a civilian not let Scarabella or Chat save the day once.
The writers could have done so much with this show and this is why I am so bitter that they waste pretty good characters for no reason. Just think about that Marinette has a good story arc in the first two seasons. She stood up to Chloé, finally acted on her feelings, broke down under the pressure of being the Guardian. Yet they had to throw in the stalker, obsessive nearly yandere trope for fun to ruin her. I wish at least one character would call her out for it and she would learn from it. I wish that in season four she really moved on with Luka so her obsession would end. But no we can't have development.
Still she is a fictional character, I hate how the writers write these characters.

Lukanette
Also
Thor X Jane
you know that i think it is superior to adriennete i basically introduced you to lukanette. marinette was creepily obsessed with him which did go away and adrien as chat keeps disrespecting her boundaries (let's call him out too please that's not ok just because he likes her) by repeatedly asking her out when she has stated she likes someone else (yes that someone is technically him but. she. doesn't. know. that) [ @completeanduttermess this would be the love square answer too ]
do not care about them enough to have an opinion tbh

Understanding the Love Square for the Uninitiated and the Fans Part 2: The FANS
In order to understand the fan’s relationship with love squares you need to understand the ships they make with it.
If you are wondering what the Square is look at the last post for clarity but other wise their are four ships: 1.) Adriennete  (Marinette X Adrien)
Tumblr media
2.) Ladynoir (Ladybug X Chat Noir)
Tumblr media
3.) Ladrien (Ladybug X Adrien)
Tumblr media
4.) MariChat (Chat Noir X Marinette)
Tumblr media
Okay so right about now you might be asking why and while this is a weird spot to put my thesis I might as well. Miraculous: The Adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir as shows go is one of the few I can think of on the top of my head that uses, or at least use well, a love square for their romance. This means that if anyone has interest in using or creating a love square in the future this it, this is the example, and you will need to have some bearing to it. What does this have to do with fans? It is worth understanding how fans might react and misunderstand so you can know what to overcome to get it across.
See the fandom sees these ships as ships and swears by their favorite ship. This then of course leads to a shipping community. The problem is they are all the same ship. How do you priorities one ship over the other? Well its all about the interactions and the emotional feelings. This is, not a problem in fact it is a good answer to how shipping works with this bizarre trope. However, the problem that can arise is that shipping communities are already emotion first communities and this is just more emotion on top of that.  Meaning what happens when a ship succeeds over the other or one ship gets disconfirmed?
How does this even happen if they are the same ship? Well it does not really disconfirm or succeed, or not permanently at least as long as part of the square is intact the rest is always possible.
This is clearer still in Miraculous as many episodes make the argument that the most stable, and best way for the relationship to work is for every part of the square to work. Origins hints at this as does the failures from Chat Blanc and Ephemeral with both Chat Blanc and Ephemeral showing a relationship formed on one part of the square over the other (Chat Blanc Marinette’s love for Adrien , Ephemeral  Adrien’s love for Ladybug). Of course, there are other issues and reasons why the relationship fails in those episodes, but the incompleteness of the basis for their relationship is part of it.
In conclusion, fans may miss points or themes set up by the creator when a love square is set up due to a lean into shipping culture being more necessary for a compelling love square. This will lead to potential outrage and backlash even if the writing and direction of the characters is on theme. (Note there really is not a lot of outrage and backlash in Miraculous fanspaces but their is a lot of grumbling despite progress)

My thoughts after watching MLB Season 3
Marinette isn't perfect but she's the best person out there! (in their fictional world) She deserves to be happy too even if it means being together with someone else other than Adrien.. and yes, I meant her being together with Luka.
As much as it hurts my Adrienette heart, the season 3 made me realize that it may not be a good idea to push their relationship even further than being as friends.
Heck, they even went out of their way to make an entire episode about how their future would look like if they happen to be together. Way to bummed out the shippers lol. But for real tho, the whole episode made perfectly sense so I can't really say it's "utterly ridiculous!"
And as they say, the right person isn't always the correct person to be with. Mari and Adrien are the right person for each other but Luka and Kagami may be the correct person they should be with.
This is a first for me, not hating on the 2nd female lead. But suprisingly, I don't hate Kagami. I just have nothing against her, well at least nothing yet in the current episodes. She's quite frank and straightforward. A complete opposite of Mari but maybe because they're both so awkward that an unexpected friendship has formed between the two of them. Kkkk~ tho no one can beat Marinette at being the weirdest, clumsiest, and quirky of a person that she is.
Anywaysss, I’m currently struggling to keep myself from watching season 4 until all the episodes have aired but I feel like it’s only a matter of time before I give in to temptation  ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )‧º·˚

Kwami Swap AU
Yup. My take on one of the most popular prompts out there. :D
MARINETTE
     • Marinette, when she becomes the next Black Cat, doesn’t really take into consideration her hero name or her outfit. In fact, the only thing that’s going through her mind in terms of a black cat is one of those void cats— just a quiet, black blob with big eyes full of wonder and curiosity.
     • Her costume reflects that, as well as the instincts she gets from it. She ends up being the mostly silent hero, who only really talks to her Beetle. She’s ridiculously good at stealth, but she’s not really fantastic at loud distractions. She learned later on, however, that she can steal an akuma’s attention by terrifying it. If she keeps blending into the shadows and popping out, like she’s stalking them, it seems to seriously unnerve them.
     • Her relationship with Plagg is, to put it simply, great. He doesn’t bug her for expensive cheeses, because he knows that she’s not a rich kid and her parents would notice immediately, but she still likes to surprise him every once and a while by using whatever money she scrounged up from commissions and getting him fancy camembert. Usually he’ll settle for cheesy bread, cheese danishes, and cheddar snacks.
     • Marinette and Plagg are both mischievous beings. She comes up with wild ideas, and he full-heartedly supports them. She sort of becomes the school’s resident schemer. It’s been a long time since Plagg last had such a troublemaker for a chosen, so he’s really enjoying himself this time around. Plus, she gives him head scratches and cuddles. This is the life.
     • Marinette’s superhero alter ego has many different names in the public, because she’s never bothered to come up with one of her own, and she doesn’t deal with media really well. In fact, she just straight up tells Beetle her real name on the first meeting— Plagg hadn’t told her much about secret identities. He probably forgot, too focused on how exceptional her parents’ cheesy bread was.
     • She tells Beetle to just call her Chaton. The public sees that as more of a pet name, so they make attempts at other names for her, but she doesn’t really like any of them.
     • She has a bit of a crush on the Beetle, but she stays quiet most of the time, so really, there’s no way of him knowing. She doesn’t flirt, and since she’s on the job, she never allows herself to stutter. The most she does is blush, but that just makes her seem a bit shy. She’s not.
ADRIEN
     • Adrien, when he becomes the next Beetle, is wholly prepared. He has a whole costume planned out, with a cool jacket, gloves, a black mask with white spots on either side, everything you can think of. Hell, he even has the transformation sequence down to a pat.
     • Adrien’s eager, maybe a bit too eager, and ends up getting a lesson on patience pretty early in the game. He’s not meant for close combat— his abilities are more long-ranged, and he has to sit back and truly think about how he’s supposed to use his Lucky Charms. The start is rough, because him and Chaton didn’t really have any way of keeping the akuma off their backs long enough to formulate any solid plans. However, later on, things start to go better for them, and he at that point had already figured out how to think quickly whilst under pressure.
     • His relationship with Tikki is rather sweet. She has an open opinion about his father, and takes it upon herself to pretty much properly raise him. She smothers him in affection, gives him as much advice as she can provide, and listens to his heart troubles when he needs to vent. In return, Adrien likes to spoil her with the best sweets he can find.
     • Adrien and Tikki both have a huge thing for sweets. Particularly the ones from the Dupain-Cheng patisserie. (Tikki likes to tease him about it though, so he only ever goes there on special occasions.) The school pretty much shoves any sort of snack they can find into Adrien’s arms, because everyone knows about his ginormous sweet tooth, and everyone thinks he deserves as much as he wants. Marinette brings him a croissant every morning, and Nino always hands him a chocolate bar during lunch. He usually gives the chocolate bar to Tikki, but those croissants? All his. Back off.
     • Adrien already prepared to call himself the Beetle before he even left his room, the day he got his Miraculous. It took him a while to actually announce that to the public, however, since the first few fights he had next to no time to stick around and answer questions— he spent way too long trying to figure out how to use his Lucky Charm. Eventually he was able to tell friendly teenage reporter, Alya, that he calls himself Beetle. It blew up rather quickly. Unfortunately, he couldn’t tell anyone what his Chaton’s name was. He just calls her Chaton.
     • He’s okay with the public disregarding his pet name and trying to figure out their own name for her. After all, he feels like he should be the only one who gets to call her that.
     • Adrien has a ridiculous crush on Marinette, and yes, that crush extends to his friendly kitty, because he pretty much knew her identity from the beginning. She had just blurted it out, apparently not being informed about the whole secret identity thing. Begrudgingly, he didn’t want to disappoint Tikki, so he kept his mouth shut about his own identity. Marinette never seemed to mind, thankfully.
MIXED HEADCANONS
     • Adrien and Marinette quickly become good friends after the gum incident. Marinette was a bit embarrassed in the beginning, apologetic for having judged him so quickly. Adrien was super awkward at first, especially because of the sudden realisation that this girl is his superhero partner and he isn’t allowed to say anything about it.
     • Alya ships MariBeetle and has absolutely no shame about it, even though she does feel a little sorry for Adrien. After all, that poor boy has a crush the size of a skyscraper on Marinette, but... Well, best friends come first! And besides, she’s SEEN the Beetle give Marinette The Look™, which means there’s a legitimate possibility of it happening! At least Adrien also has a crush on the city’s feline hero. After all, once she makes MariBeetle happen, she’ll have the connections to make AdriChaton happen.
     • Nino is also aware of that Look™ that the Beetle had given Marinette, but he’s quite frankly totally against MariBeetle. It’s the only thing he and Alya wholeheartedly disagree on. First of all, he has to look out for his bro, and he knows Adrien has a thing for Marinette. Secondly, there’s no way he’d ever let Marinette get swept up in that superhero business! She’s like his little sister, he doesn’t want her getting hurt or targeted by Hawkmoth!
     • Literally no one knows about Marinette’s massive crush on the Beetle except, possibly, Alya, and even Alya’s not 100% sure about it. Marinette keeps her secrets locked up tight, and if it were any other boy, she’d probably gush about them all the time, but... It’s a little weird for people to think that she’s just some fangirl, when in actuality, that’s not the case. She doesn’t want people she knows to dumb down her infatuation to some simple celebrity crush thing. That’s not the case at all.
     • Adrien’s, like, secretly on board with more than half of the wild plans Alya has in order to set Marinette up with the Beetle, but he can’t say it because it would look super suspicious of him to suddenly be okay with Marinette dating some other dude. It’s unfortunate that Marinette quickly and calmly shoots down every idea, using perfectly logical points.
     • Adrien has spotted Marinette and her Kwami once, and it was... possibly the cutest exchange he’s ever seen in his life. Plagg kind of acts like a snot, but it’s perfectly clear that he has a major soft spot for his chosen. He called Chloe a very colourful name, then started purring and cuddling up into Marinette’s cheek. Tikki was fighting to keep her giggling in at the sight. She later tells Adrien that Plagg very rarely acts so openly affectionate.
     • Marinette doesn’t put up posters in her room. She’s seriously not in the mood to seem like a fangirl, and since Alya’s in her room all the time, she really can’t put any even if she wanted to. She doesn’t want Alya to know. She does have her phone screensaver as the Beetle and his Chaton, though.
     • Tom and Sabine absolutely know that the strapping young man who sometimes visits the bakery has the biggest crush on their daughter ever, and they’re, quite frankly, on his side. Or, well, Tom is. Sabine is a little scary and makes a point to give him a hidden threat every time he visits, basically informing him that if he hurts Marinette, he’ll be uppercutted directly into the sun.
     • There’s a lot of pranks and stuff that happens at the school, but the problem is that literally no one knows who’s pulling it. Well, that isn’t true, pretty much everyone high-key expects that it’s Marinette, but the problem is that there’s no proof. No one can ever catch her in the act, and no matter how much searching you do, you won’t find your stolen items on her or in any of her belongings. She’s a ninja.
Anyone is welcomed and encouraged to add their own thoughts! Hope you liked this, it was fun to write. My mother and I caught a stray kitten recently and I’ve just been brimming with happiness and creativity since then. :)
