I think part of the reason I love Aceyuu/ Ace x reader is that he’s just so real. Like, compared to all of the rich and powerful students you get in NRC, he’s so normal. I mean, yeah, we all joke about how it’s comical that there are students that are ‘just some guy’ compared to the celebrities and royalty that are in the cast but Ace being this tsundere teenage boy that messes up but honestly means well would probably be the closest thing to normalcy that Yuu could get.

Sure, the miracles done by the other students are nothing to scoff at. Malleus fixing a demolished stadium in a blink of an eye is impressive and all - but Ace choosing your card out of his deck with a teasing grin? That would make me swoon.

I don’t know, I just find his so-called ‘average-ness’ so charming (especially if you add in him being one of Yuu’s best friends who’s been by their side since day one). I feel like he’s so easy to feel comfortable around, or like that there’s a power dynamic. Yes, he’s got magic which objectively makes him more powerful than you, but you never have to watch yourself around him and you could just be free.

Aceyuu is funny cuz Vil kissed yuu (on their cheek but still), Deuce and Malleus got to dance with yuu, Cater called yuu cute, riddle fixed up yuu's tie, and Leona slept in the same room as yuu. Like catch up Ace your way behind 💀.

It's an open secret how Ace feels about you. His eyes follow you through every room you enter and linger long after you leave, there's an unspoken respect for your place at his side that no one mentions because they've long accepted the inevitable truth that his little world is spinning on a Yuu shaped axis and all he can do when approached is deny, deny, d e n y for fear of having it used against him in some imaginary contest of ego because of how well he seems to think he's doing. I know I’m always writing for Malleyuu, but I also really love Ace or Deuce x Yuu ships because I feel like it’s objectively hilarious that out of all the rich/famous/royal/talented people at the school, Yuu ends up with just some guy. Ace and Deuce are so normal. Like imagine being them and your competition for your best friend’s love is literally some 100 year old dragon fae top 5 most powerful in the world mage who is also the future ruler of an entire Kingdom. And Yuu still chooses one of them??

The thought is pretty sweet, that Yuu would choose to be with their best friend because they know/love them and don’t care about any of the others that might seem more impressive. Maybe I’m just a sucker for friends to lovers, but this kind of love where your boyfriend is also your best friend is very cute to me.
