I was re-reading Dissonance and I wanted to ask if Abraxas ever kept the poison chandelier? Like is it a treasured family heirloom? Or does Lucius just inherit it when his dad dies with no clue why they have this dangerous, tacky piece of decor he can't get rid of because Lord Voldemort vaguely complimented(?) it one time?
It's hilarious that you sent me this ask, while I am still laughing myself to tears (I just read your comment 1 minute ago).
-
The 'homoerotic chandelier' (I am STILL laughing, thank you, truly) is, of course, gaudy; just horrid, really, there's a reason no one was buying it, even with Tom's outstanding sale talents.
Being an impulse purchase (a horny purchase), Abraxas didn't think it through- how on earth will he explain this monstrosity to his father?
He hides it in the dungeons, knowing his father doesn't go there (draft and all).
After Tom disappears, Abraxas might, or might not, visit the dungeons to have a look at it from time to time. He sent hundreds of letters to Tom, but they all returned unopened, so he's convinced his enemy-lover is dead. His cold, tiny heart, is broken.
Once his dad finally dies, Abraxas moves the chandelier to Gringotts, wrapped in a secure box, in the hopes he won't have to think about it (Tom) anymore, if it isn't in his house. At first, he wanted to destroy it, but he couldn't make himself. (It's lucky he didn't try, because that was one CURSED chandelier that would have reacted poorly to violence).
A decade or so later, Lord Voldemort shows up.
Abraxas is furious (happy)! How dare that mudblood be even more powerful than when he left? (how dare Tom just show up, as if Abraxas didn't mourn for him, thought him dead, and grew stupidly attached to an ugly chandelier as a stand in for Tom?)
Everyone is playing this silly game, pretending not to recognise this is Tom Riddle. Abraxas cannot wait to actually meet him face to face and spit 'Riddle' at him; he is a Malfoy, Riddle doesn't scare him! Alas, before he can meet him, he hears old classmates are dropping dead all over the place (the only thing they had in common was that they knew the name Riddle) and he reconsiders. It's not that he's afraid (he's terrified), but he's just cautious. Yes, cautious. He determines is better to avoid Riddle (even if his broken, even tinier and colder heart longs to see him again).
But then his stupid son comes back with a horrid brand on his arm (he remembers Riddle doodling it in his schoolboy silly journal) and Abraxas is horrified. Furthermore, Rodolphus keeps saying Voldemort is unnaturally close to Lucius, that they have many one on one meetings, and Abraxas has had ENOUGH. So he goes to face Riddle and tell him to stay away from his son (he has no idea that once, long ago, his own father went to tell Tom to stay away from Abraxas. Apparently it's a Malfoy tradition, now.)
Anyway, things don't go as planned, Abraxas freezes when he sees what Riddle had done to his previously perfect face. He freezes when he feels the *power* emanating from him. He ends up pretending he doesn't recognise him.
It's a long and complicated story (really, it is) but eventually Abraxas invites Voldemort to the Manor ( to discuss Lucius, of course, no other reason. Not like Abraxas had decade long fantasies of bringing Riddle to his Manor and fucking him in the master bedroom or anything like that). On a whim, he has the chandelier brought back from Gringotts and hangs it in the dining room.
Riddle's new waxy, harsh face does something funny, shows some emotion for once, when he sees it. Abraxas is suddenly hot all over, but they attempt to talk normally until Lucius comes home, bows to Riddle ( the indignity! Lucius should only bow to Abraxas) and then, with a sneer, asks if Abraxas has lost his mind, what is that ugly chandelier doing in their lovely home?
The chandelier apparently doesn't take the insult in stride, and , with a thunder like noise, starts raining poison down on Lucius.
It's fine, in the end. Riddle was always good with spells of all kind, the arrogant mudblood, so he fixes Lucius up, and then sends him to get some rest.
The next morning, when Lucius stumbles out of his room, with a headache from the remaining after effects of the poison, he witnesses his lord getting out of his father's room.
He blinks. Once, twice. He rubs his eyes, frozen.
"You're hallucinating," Lord Voldemort tells him. "From the poison. Go back to bed."
Lucius decides that yes, he must be hallucinating (he dearly hopes so, because why else would he see the dark lord, robe not entirely buttoned up, leaving his father's room at dawn?), and he retreats to the safety of his room.
Another decade later, when his father dies, Lucius decides to leave the chandelier in place ( in his father's room, where it was moved after it assaulted Lucius). He thinks it's wiser not to mess with the thing. Besides, it seemed to matter quite a lot to his old man; Lucius swears his father loved that ugly monstrosity more than he ever loved Lucius.
--
Thank you so much for your comment, and you're at fault for this lengthy, cracky answer! I hope you enjoy it! ❤️

🔹The Sirians🔹 Talon Abraxas
Embracing Your Sirian Starseed Gifts & AbilitiesOnce you uncover your origins as a spiritual being from Sirius, you can consciously begin activating, honing, and embodying your innate gifts. Here are some Sirian starseed abilities you can cultivate:
Energy Healing & Channeling Many Sirians are powerful natural healers and channels attuned to higher frequencies. Develop your abilities through Reiki, pranic healing, quantum touch, aura cleansing, chakra balancing, crystal healing medicine, or trance channeling.
Clairvoyance & Clairaudience Clear seeing, clairvoyance, hearing divine guidance clairaudience, and sensing energies or intentions are common Sirian traits. Strengthen your psychic perceptions through divination tools like Tarot, crystals, runes, or pendulum dowsing.
Astral Projection Sirian lightbodies are well-designed for out-of-body travel, lucid dreaming, and astral projection. Keep a dream journal and practice OBE techniques before sleeping to access the astral dimension.
Mediumship Many Sirians can easily connect with spirits, angels, extraterrestrials, and higher-dimensional beings. However, caution is required when opening up to receive ESP or mediumship experiences.
Manifestation Sirians can instantly manifest needs through intention and holding a high vibration. But beware of ego-based desires. Meditate deeply on your true soul desires and use visualization techniques to magnetize them into reality.
Transmutation As alchemists, Sirians can transmute lower energies into higher frequencies using spiritual practices and their crystalline auras. Develop personal rituals to purify spaces, thoughts, or situations.
Interdimensional Travel Advanced Sirians are masters of interdimensional travel and technologically advanced crafts. However, most starseeds are here to raise Earth’s vibration, not escape it. Stay grounded in your incarnation but do visit home through meditation.
By exploring your metaphysical gifts, you more fully inhabit your Sirian higher self and courageously fulfill your sacred spiritual mission on Earth. You chose this path before incarnating, and every experience is now activating your remembrance.

HP Rec Fest - Day 14
Prompt: A favorite series @hprecfest
There's little I like more than settling into a good, long series, but I'm picky if I'm going to be spending a lot of time with a story. It needs to have great characterization, a plot and charcters arcs I can invest in, and terrific writing. These have all of those elements and more.
The "Adelaverse" series by @kellychambliss
"My Journal About My Life and Stephen and Miranda” by Adela
2. "Now That I'm Older" by Adela
3. Inamorata
Characters: Minerva McGonagall, Original Character, Severus Snape
Pairing: Minerva/Severus
Rating: K/G - T/PG-13
Summary: Severus and Minerva, disguised as Muggles, are observed by their precocious teen neighbor, who enjoys speculating about the mysterious couple next door.
Why You Should Check It Out:
This series, comprising 3 stories, is a wonderful take on the third-person observer. It throws Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape into Muggle America and the sights of precocious twelve-year-old Adela.
Kelly's Minerva/Severus is always rich and complex, and the original characters, especially Adela, are wonderful.
It's wry, and tender, and funny, and exactly what I'd imagine these characters to be like in this situation. It's a lovely read for those who like happy endings without sappiness or doe-eyed visions of happily-ever-after.
The Minerva Quartet by @eldritcher
Thy Kingdom Come
2. I, Alastor
3. How do you like your blue-eyed boys?
4. O Gentle Faustus
Characters: Alastor Moody, Alice Longbottom, Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter, Lucius Malfoy, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, Voldemort, Charlus Potter
Pairings: Albus/Minerva, Lucius/Minerva, Abraxas/Voldemort
Rating: M/R
Summary: Thematically related stories about he beautiful and dreadful parts of being humans who love.
Why You Should Check It Out:
Eldritcher's stories cut to the heart of what it is to long for what we know we should not want, and knowing the price, want it just the same.
The main characters are self-aware enough to understand important things about themselves and one another but often helpless to change their course, which is, of course, the most human of failings.
Eldritcher has an excellent sense of the little details that reveal character. The stories have the quality of a particularly lucid dream; they suggest things, but never hit the you over the head with them, allowing the reader to suss out the important bits and the themes that animate them, and there are occasional surprises that shock the reader out of any misplaced complacency regarding what a particular character will and won't do.
Literary and mythological allusions and references are woven deftly through the work, and I adore the way Eldritcher makes Hogwarts castle a character in its own right.
The "Resolving a Misunderstanding" and "Death's Dominion" series by MMADfan
Resolving a Misunderstanding
2. The Unsentimental Arithmancer
3. An Unexpected Shower
4. A Holiday with the Headmaster
5. Malcolm's Tale of Angus Óg
6. Obliging Minerva
7. Invisible Lover
8. A Christmas for Aberforth
9. An Act of Love
10. Death's Dominion
11. Enter, Peacetime
12. A Long Vernal Season (incomplete)
Main Characters: Minerva McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, Poppy Pomfrey, Hermione Granger and a cast of thousands.
Pairings: Multiple, but the main ones are Albus/Minerva and Poppy/Severus, plus multple pairings with OCs.
Rating: Stories range from K+/PG to MA/NC-17.
Summary: The main focus of the first series, which takes place before the events of the 7 Potter books, is the epic romance between Minerva and Albus, with some shorter pieces that focus on some of MMADfan's fabulous original characters. The Death's Dominion series takes place during the 7 Potter books and later, and focuses Severus's life as a spy for Dumbledore and his attempts to come to terms with life after the war.
Why You Should Check It Out:
If you're looking for total immersion in the wizarding world, thess are the series for you.
This is truly an epic arc, with over a million words total, but the length allows MMADfan the scope to create an incredibly vivid wizarding world, populated with a huge cast of canon and original characters. The wordlbuilding is impressive, and the storytelling vivid, but what stands out to me are the characters. Not only does the author breathe fascinating life into canon characters we see only peripherally in the HP series, but she creates some of the best OCs I've ever encountered, in fanfic or original fic. (Her Gertrude Gamp and Gertrude's son Gareth are two of the best I've ever read.)
The Nox Lumina Series by eudaemonia
Lux Prima
2. Ministry
3. Turn the Light
4. Woman
5. Redeemer
6. Drown
7. Leopard's Tongue
8. Reveries
9. Nox Lumina
Characters: Alastor Moody, Albus Dumbledore, Amelia Bones, Cornelius Fudge, Filius Flitwick, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Harry Potter, Horace Slughorn, Lucius Malfoy, Luna Lovegood, Minerva McGonagall, Pomona Sprout, Severus Snape, Sirius Black
Pairing: Minerva/Severus
Rating: MA/NC-17
Summary: The love story of Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape, framed by the 2019 album Lux Prima by Karen O and Danger Mouse.
Why You Should Check It Out:
I love stories that show us what characters like Minerva and Severus keep hidden—their foibles, their doubts, and their inconsistencies.
These are not comfortable people, and there are no easy answers here. It’s a guilty pleasure to watch two intelligent characters try, and so often fail, to understand their own motivations and needs. They butt heads, rub up against one another (literally and figuratively), and ultimately provide something that neither of them finds elsewhere.
The comfort they find is matched by the pain they cause one another, as I can only imagine it would be, given these characters and their circumstances.
In addition to the delicious, delicious angst, it includes some moments of lightness and humor, which settle perfectly on these two.
The Ways of Minerva series by margaretrevie
The Way It Should Have Been
2. Die in Thy Lap, Be Buried in Thy Eyes
3. The Way It Was After
Characters: Minerva McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore, James Potter, Lily Evans, Poppy Pomfrey, Rolanda Hooch, Tom Riddle, lots of canon and original characters
Pairings: Albus/Minerva, Minerva/OC, James/Lily, Poppy/Rolanda
Rating: From M/R to MA/NC-17
Summary: The story of Minerva McGonagall from the start of her Hogwarts career as a student.
Why You Should Check It Out:
This series is a long-arc story that hits—and artfully subverts—many of the usual tropes and expectations for an Albus/Minerva fic.
The first fic focusses on the development of Minerva and Albus's relationship, from her schooldays to her early days as a teacher.
The second is a brief interlude with Poppy and Rolanda, and the latter's dream of an erotic interlude with their friend, Minerva.
The third continues the Albus/Minerv story, with an additional focus on the James/Lily arc that begins near the end of the first story.
The series wins a place alongside some of my favorites because it delivers what I always want but seldom get from fic about this ship: a deep and unflinching exploration of the complexities of a relationship between two powerful, flawed characters. It digs beyond the obvious issues of power dynamics and age differences to get at fundamental differences between their personalities and worldviews which love may or may not overcome.
This Minerva and Albus are each far from perfect, and far from perfect for one another, and author margaretrevie doesn’t shy away from the less attractive aspects of their personalities: Albus’s enormous ego and his desperate need to be admired, and Minerva’s intolerance of what she sees as frailty or moral imperfection. The length of the fic gives the characters room to change and grow over time, which is part of what makes it such a satisfying read.
The story also features some powerful magic of a kind that one encounters in other fics, but rarely are the practical and emotional ramifications for the characters who practice it so thoughtfully and poignantly explored. I won’t spoil it for you with too much detail, but the author takes a trope particularly beloved of AD/MM shippers and gives it a realistic (in the HP realm) treatment that delivers a punch to the gut.
Added to all that, you’ll find satisfying and surprising backstory for several familiar HP characters as icing on this lovely, richly textured cake.

quick question I'm trying to remember the name of this fic that i read before and i want to see if anyone knows what it is lmao
it's a harry potter time-travel fic. post-2nd war, and harry realises he's the master of death when he finds out he can't seem to die. all his friends are aging and having children but he's always at 17 years old, no matter what he does. i know it also had dramione in it, and some weasley + dumbledore bashing too. i think harry and ginny had broken up at some point in the fic, and his relationship with ron's very strained.
one day when going through the malfoy manor i think draco/hermione find abraxas' old journal?? harry reads it and sees how it talks about who tom riddle was through the years. harry stays cooped up reading the journal and devises a plan to time-travel to save everyone and change the course of events.
harry meets this vampire that he was friends with (in the present time) in the past, and ends up getting de-aged. he's also a cousin of abraxas in the story, and stays with the malfoy's as it goes on.
i know the title of the fic has to do with that journal but for the life of me i can't seem to find it. lmfao i hope it's not too much to ask but if anyone has the link, I'd appreciate it if you could share 🥺

The Diary Sneak Peak Snippets
I'm bored and working on The Diary. How about some snippets of unposted scenes out of context for funsies?
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Her hair is overwhelming in its natural state,” Tom said carefully. “Perhaps something to help her style it more easily would be wise.”
Abraxas blinked away his surprise and tried not to make eye contact with Flynn. The mere idea of Tom going out of his way to help any girl with her hair because he wanted to, not simply being polite if someone dared to ask, was beyond him. But thankfully, Abraxas’ mother had insisted he know enough about women’s grooming to aid his future wife if necessary. He could be of use.
“I could write Mother,” he offered. “With a description of her hair and its texture, I’m sure she could find some sort of conditioning oil or cream to go along with whatever ribbons or trinkets we can find to help pretty her up.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
But as she flipped the journal to the front, she saw that the first several pages, all of which were as blank as the rest of the book the day before, were now filled with Tom’s familiar handwriting. One or two spots of the first page even looked like raindrops or tears had fallen on the paper.
Raindrops, surely. She couldn’t envision Tom crying. Puzzled, but always curious, she began to read:
Dear Dove,
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
He wasn’t sure how much good the hugs would do for her in the remaining weeks of his fifth year, since she’d go a full six months without a hug at all unless he made a point to continue the habit as an adult.
Did his older self have a different friendship with her entirely?
If he could just find a way to keep an eye on her somehow, maybe he’d be able to know what sorts of things he needed to be prepared for in the future.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
As most of his studies were caught up, he chose to make notes in his various journals and diaries, including the one he reserved for dates and times she asked him to make a special note of. Or that he thought he needed to remember.
19 September 1999 — Hermione born was added to those notes. As was 19 September 2013 — Dumb little bird turns 14.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Poor little bird,” he murmured. Is the little Gryffindor scared to be in the dark by herself?
You know, no one would ever find your body down here.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Even at the orphanage there’s a bloody hierarchy, Dove. Step on or be stepped on. Sink or swim.”
The look she gave him was full of an emotion he didn’t recognize, but that instinctively made him uncomfortable.
“How long did it take you to learn how to swim?” she asked.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
That'll do, I think. I might be willing to give context to some of these if anyone's interested enough to send me an ask about them. Otherwise, I'll be drinking wine and starting chapter 36 if anyone needs me.

I found this Malfoy family tree online. I have no idea where it came from, but it’s what I’m using for “The Slytherin Toy’s Christmas Wish.” Thank you to whoever made it!
EXCEPT. In my head canon, wizards can live longer than 100 years. So Abraxas’ journal referenced in Chapter 14 would have been written before he was born according to this. I’m not going to get specific about years and such because ... math ... but the Abraxas/Nicholas stuff would have happened in the late 1700s.
Chapter 14 is my last chapter for this story for the month. I cannot believe it is already Feb. 11 because I still have so much I want to do before I dive back in. I’m very excited to be working with an alpha/beta for the rest of the story, too! Look for more in March.

Fomalhaut Gateway February 22-24
There are countless stars in our galaxy, but ancient astrologers singled out four as being the most important. These four stars, known as the Royal Stars were believed to be guardians of the sky and home to powerful stargate portals.
One of these stars was Fomalhaut, and every year around February 22-24, our Sun aligns with this star, activating a sacred gateway of energy.
Fomalhaut Energetics
Fomalhaut is sometimes referred to as the loneliest star. It lights up a corner of the night sky seemingly all by itself. It stands out, yet stands alone.
With the Fomalhaut Stargate activated, we may find ourselves feeling the need to withdraw or go within. We may wish to sit in silence with ourselves, or journal to uncover our deepest thoughts and feelings.
Who are we when no one is watching? Who are we when we are alone? The Fomalhaut Stargate wants us to journey deeper into ourselves, to peel back the layers, and connect with more of our authenticity.
Travel deep into your body where the real truth lies. Deep into your body where no one else can see what lives inside. Deep into your essences, beyond the raw, beyond the shame, beyond the place where the world has told you who to be. Where do you go when you reach the core? You keep on traveling.
In downloaded messages, it has been shared that beyond the Fomalhaut Stargate lies another dimension filled with reds, pinks, magentas, and purples, where life is very different from what we experience in this reality.
As the guardian of this crossing, Fomalhaut has one foot in this world and one in the next. It also dances between the state of death and the state of rebirth.
Fomalhaut reminds us that all things must eventually fall away. Everything in life is at the mercy of change, evolution, and rebirth.
The energy of Fomalhaut can also easily zap us if our own energetic field is weakened or if we have been moving through a hard or stressful time. If this is the case, take a gentler approach.
To work with the energy of the Fomalhaut Gateway, I suggest leaving out an offering from nature on your altar, and gently meditating on the cosmic energies of the day. Gently breathe them in and see where they take you.
If you would prefer something more structured, try this cord-cutting ritual. Doing it under the Fomalhaut Gateway will intensify its energies, so once again, make sure you are truly ready to release those cords:

delphini au, voldemort wins 2
Delphini: Why is the sky blue?
Abraxas Malfoy: Mostly because of science. Partly because a mage was just really fed up with watching the real colour of the sky so they decided to paint it blue.
Delphini, nodding: That sounds about right.
Lord Voldemort: Stop lying to my child.
Abraxas Malfoy: Stop giving your daughter philosophy manifestos. She's five.
Lord Voldemort: That's what we bond over.
Abraxas Malfoy: This is what we bond over. Don't you want her to have a good relationship with me? I am her favourite, you know. Which is sad considering you two have a secret language.
Lord Voldemort: Secret? You understand everything we say. You have a little journal where you sounded out my hisses and roughly translated what they mean.
Abraxas Malfoy, retreating: Shhh, shh, no I don't. Shh, you never saw that.
Delphini: Can I have a snake?
Abraxas locks eyes with Voldemort
Lord Voldemort: Don't get my daughter a snake. She'll set it on someone and I don't need that chaos around here.
Abraxas Malfoy: The only snakes I ever allowed here have either all been people or horcruxes. Trust me, mon chou, in a household with 125 peafowls, a snake wouldn't last a day.
Delphini: Can I have a pony?
Abraxas & Voldemort: Why on earth would you want something so plebeian?

The question gods demand something... but what was it...?
That genuinely sounds like a quote from Majora’s Mask
lilith: what was your biggest rebellion against authority? why did you do it?
• Mm nothing too bad, constantly breaking rules and pushing boundaries is all.
raum: do you have a tendency to hoard anything? if so, what?
• I don’t hoard, but I do collect.
jezebel: talk about a time you used your sexuality to get your way
• Had a very disturbed friend whom I convinced I was heavily femme leaning (I love everyone so much, bot just one type of person) so they would leave me alone.
mephistopheles: have you ever helped  a loved one destroy themselves?
• Had an ex with addiction issues, I wasn’t equipped to help them so ultimately I watched as they drove themself to the ground.
verrier: do you find yourself disobeying or obeying most authority?
• Disobeying authority most times, save for a select few.
asmodeus: on whom do you want revenge and how would you take it?
• Mm I don’t think I want revenge, just to speak my mind to them just once for a change.
baal: if you were a god, how would you prefer to be worshipped?
• Small offerings, ones someone has put their love into, say raising a plant from seed and caring for it, something to thrive that will never be harmed.
lamia: how do you feel about children?
• Protect them with your life.
lucifer: what are you most proud of?
• My resilience.
sonneillon: do you hate anyone?
• Yes
batibat: talk about the worst nightmare you have ever had
• Being abandoned by people I love.
abaddon: what person, place, or thing have you most wanted to destroy?
• I burnt an entire book of notes, letters, journal entries, etc with some of my most personal thoughts in it because someone took it unbeknownst to me and read it all. Was sad to see it burn but needed to be done.
belias: do you gossip?
• Over my dead body.
abraxas: do you believe in any higher power? if so, what?
• It’s, complicated.
ornias: talk about a time where you felt drained of energy
• Before I started treatment, I was lucky to get out of bed.
lix tetrax: if you could travel by wind, where would you go?
• Anywhere, if savor the feeling of riding the wind.
astaroth: have you ever falsely accused someone?
• No.
carreau: do you consider yourself compassionate or harsh to others? why?
• Compassionate, most times I have no need to be mean or rude.
leviathan: what do you believe lies in the unexplored areas of the ocean?
• Lots of animals we could learn from.
belphigor: if you could pick 3 forms to shapeshift into, what would they be?
• Avian-like wings, Skyward Sword Link my beloved (gender envy), or a very gender neutral version of myself.
azazel: talk about a time when you were falsely blamed for something
• Never.
mammon: when were you most greedy? for what?
• All of my childhood looking for attention where I lacked it. Occasionally it still comes back to bite me.
verrith: are you a patient or impatient person?
