#a story about huntokar
Text
OH SHIT I JUST REALIZED THAT CECIL'S WHOLE BACKSTORY IS BECAUSE OF WHAT HUNTOKAR SAID
"Whose life lies directly on the fault lines of this broken reality"
She broke reality around Night Vale, and Cecil is clearly an important part of Night Vale so his entire life got fragmented. Thats why he was alive and broadcasting before the radio was invented. That's why he died in ep33, ep106, and ep171. Mirrors must be a particularly weak part of the border between realities (which would also explain why Nazr saw himself and Francis in his mirror in ASoLaH) and something about the breaking of reality is deadly to Cecil

OK. NO. I WAS WRONG.
I thought Episode 110 "Matryoshka" would be the last of the "episodes Era had heard before", not the first of the "wtf wtf OK no if I had listened to this before how could I ever have forgotten" episodes. How am I supposed to deal with this.
I had definitely listened to Episode 109 "A Story About Huntokar" in the past. So unless I hit something in the next couple of episodes that I can't deny having heard before (and I'll make sure to say something if I do), we're heading into new, currently very uncomfortable, territory.
To backtrack a little though, since I forgot to post yesterday, Episode 100 "Toast" , was amazing. Is amazing. So touching. The next few episodes are all pretty tops, ranging from deep story to classic weirdness with clear veins of deeper meaning.
But now I have to stop typing, put the car back in gear, and finish Matryoshka. Wish me luck.

keris post made me think about how carlos is the thing that grounds cecil but whats the thing that grounds carlos? ive joked about carlos having an identity crisis if his status as a scientist, hero, good neighbor and husband, is being threatened but— hear me out
part of the episode with donnie kevin and charles is charles making it clear that donnie is a part of his life, and therefore he is going to influence it and kevin has to be okay with that in order for them to work…… and thats such a different dynamic to a couple who decide to have a child together after being married, but the point is that children take up space in your life, and they change who you are just be existing….. carlos is no longer just defined by being a scientist, cecil is no longer just defined by being a radio host. they’re parents, fathers. that will always be who they are because this is a choice they have made, and their child will influence their life and choices for the rest of their lives. they can’t run away. they cant move on. they cant go somewhere and decide they like it better (looks at carlos) they cant pretend that their child doesn’t exist to absolve themselves of responsibility (looks at cecils mother😒) so despite the love and care and utter adoration, a child is also a commitment that is to seriously be considered
the adults have all fucked everything up, and they cant see past the despair they’ve been so thoroughly steeped in….. but children are so new to the game, so hopeful, stronger than they realize…… insightful because they’re applying their own logic that is less influenced/curated by the world they’re navigating ( a world, canonically, that is trapped in a time loop where adults literally cant escape the hand they’re been dealt) so what is it time to do? seriously consider the children.
i hope that esteban is the thing that grounds carlos! physically in night vale, but also in who he is as a person, and what he gets up for every single day. Cecil too for that matter— if his station or voice is taken from him— Because how lovely would a story be if it were to be a fathers love of their child trumping all else, for a child’s mere existence and joy and wonder of the world to soothe away the pain of abandonment and loss of direction?
huntokars love of her town became the very thing that destroyed it, but a fathers love for their child can be the very thing to save it!

can wtnv be more about goddess huntokar and what cecil is to her and what's happening to the world which is my favorite plot and the most important one and why did his mom treat him like that and does it have any connection to huntokar. instead of whatever the hell is happening now. or are they going to stretch this story for another 5 decades...

I just listened to episodes 109 and 110 of Nightvale, and I don’t know what exactly is different, but I’m really enjoying this show this time around.
A story about Huntokar laying out everything, explaining different things that kept coming up in the series, the fact that the world ended decades before, the parallel timelines, the origins of the distant prince, the woman from italy, the faceless old woman, all of that.
I don’t know why I didn’t attach to it before, but this time around I was just fascinated hearing all of it, how Huntokar tried to reach out and save the town she loved, but ultimately failed and doomed all other worlds.
How there were various Cecils she tried to speak to, some who heard her, some who didn’t, some who failed, some who tried their hardest. That section might have been one of my favorites from the episode.
And her talking about a great dark planet lit by no sun, I remember a while back seeing people freak out about that, so it’s something I’m keeping my eye on.
And then how it’s mentioned that the soft meat crowns and the bloodstone circles, it was all made because they felt the love she felt for them and tried to return it, until they’ve reached where they are now, where they don’t remember why they do all of these things.
I just really loved the episode. I’ll talk about episode 110 in another post.

EVERY EPISODE SO FAR THAT DOESNT END WITH “GOODNIGHT, NIGHT VALE. GOODNIGHT”
SO I finished the list today! This list includes any variation of the phrase, episodes where he just doesn’t say it although present, and episode where he doesn’t say it because he’s not present. I decided to mark colour code them as a result!
• variation, • no goodnight, • no Cecil
Before I start:
I did not include extra episodes like snippets from the lives shows and such.
For the quotes here I only took the final phrase. So anything that breaks the usual scheme like a lack of “stay tuned next” or any lengthy monologue about anything relating to the goodnight phrase, I didn’t quote
I’m thinking about making a video compilation later on but for now I DONT have the space to dowload all these episodes so this will do for now!
If I missed any, lmk!

Things i wish/want to see in wtnv
-Cecil and Carlos communicating properly for once
(Edit: i wrote this in a way that it sounds like i think they never communicate, that wasn't what i meant. I was talking about Carlos not telling Cecil about his past, especially the ten year DOW situation. Sorry for confusion, they have a healthy realtionship and i know it)
-Cecil's father lore
-More "Night vale exists in real world now" story
-Kevin
-Charles and Donovan lore
-Tamika Flynn snapping and going full militia leader mode one last time
-Character appearences: Huntokar, Earl Harlan, Fay, Janice, Erikas
-KEVIN
