sooo funny that a secret history gets boiled down to its dark academia aesthetic when i’ve been reading it and the fact that it’s a commentary on class and elitist academia is so incredibly obvious. the main character faking that he’s from a rich oil family and almost dying of the cold rather than to admit that he’s poor and the counselor telling him that the greek professor probably wouldn’t have accepted him if he knew he was on financial aid and the irony of the twins looking down on the college party the “common” students attend but spending all their weekends in a drunken haze. i’m only 25% through but it’s already so clear

The whole Babel part was my favourite, I bought the book. She sold me on it. 📚

Donna Tartt's MCs really can't describe how hot a female character is without somehow comparing her to a man, can they?

terrible thought i can’t banish: a secret history miniseries adaptation where the twins are played by dennis and dee from it’s always sunny; everyone else is age-appropriate and tastefully posh & sad, except the twins, who are dennis and dee from iasip and it’s never explained or justified
