anna!! sorry for taking so long answering this one as well!! but thank you SO MUCH for indulging my wolcred propaganda! <3

And lright this one is a MESS. I wrote it right when I was playing endwalker and I was really overwhelmed with the story™ that I made mess of this wip so like for the last few months or so I’ve been working on rewriting everything lol so I’ll give you some of my thoughts abt it and a small snippet since I can’t get anything more substantial that I’m satisfied with lol

wip roundup :)

This fic is like following right after the scions are back from the moon. I was overwhelmed with the fact that the WOL didn’t have much saying with the twins and how Fourchenault reacted to them. I was like, yeah, she’s proud of them. They deserve to know that, but also, I’m not sure she would be brave enough to do so. So well this fic starts with me realizing like “alright, thancred would get it. better than anyone” so the first part follows him seeing how she reacts to everything that’s happening with the WOL and making the connections like how he felt about ryne, etc etc

But of course,,, my excuse for this fic was Thesa’s haircut first and foremost. Basically I hc Azem to have insane long hair, and Thesa always had longer hair, and this is like the first time she cut it out and it’s incredibly short. Basically the second part goes from her having a bit of breakdown seeing the moon burning + overthinking about that image of hythlo she saw on the moon and everything that happened there and going “I need new. The final days can’t happen again, things gotta change NOW.” Until she interrupts my Alisaie like knocking on the door which is like the cannon visiting for her during that quest!!

And ofc Alie changes her mind a bit… but she still gets that feeling so this is SO SPECIFIC but like you know the whole “wrapping the red thing around your thinger so you don’t forget?” She does it with a strand of hair, just a reminder (things he has lost etc etc) and chops everything off. But then, ofc, the beginning alone isn’t enough for me so the last part is Thancred’s reaction to it, since I like to think they spend their nights together whenever they can and they DEFINITELY would want to on this one night. There is a bit of that part before any rewriting lol:

A knock on door cut off any other conclusion that Thesa would have come with. She hadn't heard footsteps down the hallway, and the beat was too light to be anyone else — though she doubted many others besides Alisaie would be awake and willing to visit after a day like this. So she calls his name lightly as she walks to the door, and from the suppressed laugh, she was sure.

“It's me.” Thancred’s voice is softer beyond the closed door. She finally quickened her pace to unlock it when he laughed again. “I hope you didn't have to crawl under the covers to-”

From the look he had on his eyes, Thancred seemed to have specific intentions for the visit. However, as soon as she appeared from behind the door and their eyes finally met, the hyur could have sworn that all the thoughts he had — along with all the rehearsed words he had cooked up - slipped his mind.

Thesa freezes for a second too, unsure how to react. Maybe she would explain later, but for some reason, she waited for his reaction to continue.

Thancred seemed entranced for a second as a smile seemed to bump into his face, and then, he made the greatest effort to move; forcing his hand up until he finally reached the messy strands. His right hand stops to her left side, with his thumb behind his ear so he could feel each of the threads between his fingers — clenching his fist to lightly pull them and feel them falling off before repeating the same thing but resting his palm next to her face.

“By the twelve.” He says in a sigh, slightly embarrassed to clearly see the situation they were in as his left hand reached for the longer loose strand and curled it around his fingers before resting his hand on the side of her face, cupping her cheeks, and finally confessing, exactly, the same conclusion of hers. “Perfect.”

He looked at her with different eyes than First and even more different than Walking Sands. Eyes that stretched far farther than he had previously seen — and yet, without missing all the admiration and affection he had always carried. Maybe slightly more, even.

"For a second I didn't recognize you," he smiled, tugging lightly on the strand with a teasing smile, which soon turned into a relieved sigh when he tilted his head to the side, finally meeting her eyes again. "But there she is."

#it just feels ooc for some of them and I don't like how I did some of the exposition so yeah rewriting it. I just need to get in the right #headspace to finish it lol those more canon ones makes me anxious to finish for NO REASON other than my girl deserves the best. so yeah.#ALSO fun fact I feel like I need to share: this fic is only something bc I was frantically doodling on my sketchbook after finishing that #quest. i have the date here lol 3/3/22 (not that long ago ik) but yeah i end up with thumbnail for this little comic #with a BUNCH of notes around it. its kinda overly angsty bc i was feeling like thag at the time bc HYTHLO's “Don't you agree hades?” OR WTV #the notes summarizes to 'but then it does not matter if you hair feels lighter because you have their images engraved in #your mind and you do not have the strength to cut those off so all you do is ask /what now/ but haven't you learned? images can't talk'#and the progression of the coming is her cutting her head and the panels kinda move like a camera to finalize focusing on her back staring #at a mirror reflection the image of emet (black robs + hole in his chest) and the image of hythlo she has for now (from the moon cutscene)#so yeah...... maybe it all started with my hythazemet brainrot and then the fic was too much on alisaie and thancred so i had trouble #idk findinh middle ground with what I wanted ?? but yeah... I'm someday finish rewriting it THIS IS NOT my best exposure of my wolcred work #u guys I'm gonna be honest.... but it's mostly bc i love writinh them being sooo independent so it makes sense when i play and i forget #they are important to my cannon for her lol xiv is just so love coded. all the kinds of love. and i love them all so much its A LOT BUT YEAH #ill stop rambling now LMFAO sorry for this anna but yeah this is my excuse to why thesa will never have 100% short hair #I'll always pick the short + braids hair which is why: 1. im happy the pvp hair is available for viera now and 2. im SO HAPPY with the new #7.0 hairs... there's one there that OOOOH BOY... I presume you get a lot of asks about this but whats that status on Succubus contract? I forgot if you were postponing to January or a later date and I'm honestly incredibly excited for it.

ADHD Med shortage and biting off more than i can chew has gotten the better of me, im aware i havent really posted any of my stuff in awhile and its really causing some anxiety so im very sorry everyone.

As a sign of good faith. I want to give you at least a sneak peek. You have all put your faith in me. Given me support as a comic artist that i still frankly dont think I deserve. And in that hype I think I overestimated my skill. I was thinking I could hammer out 50 panels a week without issue, the standard webtoon schedule. Without realizing how exploitative webtoons itself is for this kind of workload. This below was to be my first upload. 150 panels in all. The average webtoon will run 50 panel updates at 1 update a week. At an average of 5-6 panels a page thats roughly 7-10 pages a week. To put it in terms non webtoons readers can understand, Marvel and DC creators with teams put out about 20-24 pages a month.

It makes me question if I want to even do a webtoons format. Cause I can put out 2-3 pages a week of a traditional comic format without any issue at all. Thats only 18 panels max. Which also means I can develop twig along with other comics. Once the med issue is sorted, things will be back on track, until then I have some hard choices to make I think. I'm so sorry, really i cant help but feel like I blew an opportunity to make something of myself online and get my art out there. You all counted on me, and i feel like I failed you. And the truth is im not sure what to do right now. Here is the first page of succubus contract.

I think it depends on what I am working on!

If its some random drawing I got inspired to color, I dont worry much and just have fun with colors rather than linework

If we are talking in terms of my comic? Usually I do not care much what it looks like, especially if the panel is just a bust of the character talking yknow? But if I am going for a more detailed, special pose (hugging ect) then thats where my perfectionism comes in aha

I just want to make sure the moments I want to hit are drawn well you know? But if its not a moment that is supposed to hit hard then well, no perfectionism here!

HI NONNIE!!! thank u sooooso much for checking in and for ur lovely ask! it means a lot to hear that my silly ol scribbles were what introduced u to the glorious landscape that is the tolkien fandom! on tumblr no less!! i hope you stay a real long time, and have a blast while you're at it 💖💖

now onto your question! that's some good food for thought uhhhh i can try to estimate?? its been a while but i shld have some rough ideas abt each that i can share! the time frame each comic/panel takes is highly dependent on WHAT kind of comic it is. i hv two kinds of comics I usually do: 1) full-length, and 2) goofy/4koma.

i have a few full-length comics laying about in my archive, but my most recent one/best example is Ghosts which was around uh.... 7 pages excluding the bonus panels! in terms of the process, i usually divide it into 5 stages:

Drafting: this is either the fastest stage OR the slowest depending entirely whether i know what im doing LMAO,, if i have a set idea for what i want to happen, i might get drafts done in a few hours, but if i flounder, it can take a few days 🤔

Lineart: relatively simple enough once i hv the draft down, so id say anything ranging from an hour to half a day if theres nothing else going on irl

Block colouring (main actors): there are DEFINITELY easier and more professional ways to do this with mass-selection and the lasso fill/bucket tool, but idk how to do that on SAI (my art program) so i colour everything by hand HAHA which makes the process longer.... half a day to a day?

Shading: THE WORST!!! definintely my least favourite bc i find it tedious due to all the details/prettification of elves that i am legally obliged to pour into this stage 😭😭 as a result, it can take days!!!

Background + Lighting + Final Rendering: similar to the previous stage haha it just depends on how much effort i wanna put into the final product looking nice. roughly a few days? it kind of meshes with stage 4 anyways haha

just for fun, i hope this process gif for page 6 can illustrate that 👇

these are just rough estimates, bc all in all, the time it takes so finish a page is really dependent on how free I am hahaha. Also, I usually work on full-length comics like Ghost which have more than one page all at once, which means I drafted all 7 pages at once, then did the lineart for all 7 pages at once, coloured at once, shaded rendered bla bla bla 😚 iirc, i think it took me 11 days in total to finish Ghosts before the end of June last year!

For goofy/4-koma, its usually just one page with less detailed/more cartoonish/chibi character styles so it takes a day or two days at most! again, it all boils down to how free i am hehe

YEAH SORRY THIS ENDED UP BEING AN INFO DUMP but thank you so much again for asking and letting me ramble! <3 i ended up having a lot of fun looking back on my drafts n thinking back on my processes.... theres defininitely room for improvement, but thats another worry for another day heheh 😎

Speech bubbles

I put together some thoughts on how I fit speech bubbles into my comic panels after a conversation with @carpisuns! Sharing it here :)

Section 1: some general rules to consider, and then to break literally whenever, for any reason:

(1) Leave more room for the speech bubbles than you think you need. ANNOYING I know.

like look at how much of these panels are actual drawing, vs text. its like a quarter each:

(personally I think these have too much dialogue to be good panels. but theyre good examples of how dialogue can take up a lot of room)

THE REST IS UNDER A CUT BECAUSE IT GETS LONG

(2) Speech bubbles should be positioned in the order you want them to be read, left to right, top to bottom.

(3) Speech bubbles should line up to where the characters are standing, which helps show who is saying what.

I am actually really bad at following #3. its something I try to do, but a lot of the time I end up with confusing stuff like this:

I end up doing this in an attempt to follow rule 2, so you can easily read right to left up to down, but this is just a mess, i cant believe their speech bubbles cross over like that, its a big mess and its hard to tell who's saying what.

this is kinda what I'm going for. adrien's speech bubbles on the adrien side of the panel, alya's on the alya side:

(4) Speech bubbles should not obscure any drawings that are doing important communication work. This sounds obvious but we're putting it in the rules anyways.

TYPES OF DRAWINGS THAT DO COMMUNICATION WORK:

Faces, usually. Often the focal point of a panel. This can be really effectively broken if you want it to feel like someone is being interrupted or overridden by the words that are spoken.

If someone is nervous and wringing their hands, then their hands are now doing important communication work and shouldn't be blocked by the speech bubble

I have good and bad examples of this one.

BAD EXAMPLES:

look at this mess of a panel where I ran out of space and did a speech bubble over adrien's face. adrien's face could have been telling us how he feels in this moment, but instead he seems squished and unimportant:

And this panel, where I ran out of space and had to cover chat noir's tall ears, which should have been uncovered because they are communicating a VERY Important thing to the audience, which is: chat noir made his ears long. that's the point of the comic. and its only communicated in this panel. and i covered it with a speech bubble. not my best work:

GOOD EXAMPLES:

This panel where I purposefully made the speech bubble get in marinette's face, to show that the words are pressuring her:

this works bc you can still see how marinette feels (thats the communication work the drawing is doing).

here's one where a lot of the figures are blocked, but the important communication pieces are visible. you can see chat noir's face to see how he feels, and his hand taking the card from alya. alya doesnt even have to be in this one, you dont need to know anything about her, just that she's giving the card to chat noir:

(5) Speech bubbles go on the top of the panel or at the bottom. That way they read in longer rows, and stay out of the picture. Also faces are usually in the middle.

(6) Less is always better to read. This is a hard rule to follow and I rarely follow it, but it's worth saying.

like its so easy to digest a comic panel with a small amount of text:

and so much more work to do the opposite:

same example, I know, but its a good one. these are hard to read because theres so much text. a tired reader will just skip this so they can have a better day.

there's like a 75% chance you didn't even read the words in this example image, but I bet you read the one that says 'I was born to be a cat model".

(7) if the speaker is going to change how they feel when they say two separate speech bubbles, put those speech bubbles in two separate panels. having the same picture attached to both speech bubbles can be confusing.

here's a time I messed that up:

See?? looks like marinette is mad when she says 'oh good', when my intention was actually for her to not get mad until after nino says chat noir was playing video games. confusing.

Section 2: HELP I HAVE TOO MUCH TEXT AND CANT FIT EVERYTHING IN!!!!! WHERE DOES IT GO! HOW!

Something's gotta go. Can you stretch the content out over 2 panels? or can you say it in fewer words? do you need everything you're showing in the picture, is it all doing important communication work?

If m worried, I like to write in all of the words before I draw the speech bubbles around the words, or add pictures. This makes sure the words are all readable and I can overlap bubbles to take up less space in between paragraphs of text. sometimes I'll also end up putting the bubbles behind the pictures in the comic, to make more room.

I was thinking about this as I drew a comic earlier this week and captured some of my process. First thing I did was draw in the text:

and then once it was written I was like shoot thats the whole panel HOW am I supposed to fit the people in!!!! my original panel idea had been like:

theres no way both girls were going to fit comfortably in the picture. so I thought about what NEEDED to be in the picture in order for the panel to make sense. and that was marinettes face, marinettes hands holding the card, and alya's hand on marinette's shoulder.

so

I gave alya REALLY LONG ARMS so her face wouldn't be cut off by the speech bubble and you still got the idea that she's comforting marinette.

Section 3: That was a lot. What am I supposed to do. Synthesize this into concrete instructions please

(1) Be deliberate with your writing: know what the dialogue will be before you draw the panel. If you're not sure how you'll fit it all in, write it down in a brainstorm. like write down what the drawing will be and where the words will go.

(2) If you're worried you won't have space for the words, draw the words first. it's usually easier to make the drawing smaller than it is to cut down the text.

(3) Ask yourself, can you say this in fewer words? Fewer pictures? What does the reader need to see in the panel, or read in the panel, to get the point. (you can't always say it in fewer words, dont stress yourself out about this one.)

And last step, dont worry about it too much. if it really matters you can find a way to edit it, and otherwise who cares. Have fun!

*slaps roof of comic* this bad boy has jokes (explanations under the cut)

okay so. this part is here because the rain world fandom and toki pona fandom have (seemingly) very little overlap, and i want as many people as possible to understand this steaming pile of nonsense. so for this i am going to assume you know nothing about either rain world or toki pona.

on panel 2, spearmaster (the purple one) is trying to participate, but does not have a mouth, so they can only moan unintelligibly.

on panel 3, saint (the green one) says the sitelen pona glyph for "wawa", which in toki pona means something like "strength" or "energy". saint can speak a glyph because they are more powerful than the other slugcats.

on panel 4, rivulet (the blue one) is about to be ascended (aka killed but harder) by saint. in other words, saint is about to commit an act of violence.

yeah thats it

oh also! since you're here, at some point during production i wanted to let this comic fade from my memory so i could review it with fresh eyes, so here's the thing i drew to cover this comic so i didnt accidentally look at it!

on top is the latin and sitelen pona for "len". its root definition refers to clothing, and other definitions come from aspects of said root definition. definitions such as "cloth", "covering", and "layer of privacy". guess which definition is being used in this context!

on bottom is saint. saint has a long tongue that they use to grapple around. i just think they're neat!

Characters: Maruru, Rusu, Copupu and Crazeze

pt: 17-25/25

Little explaination of the liquid cause i feel thats whats most important to be touched on...

the liquid used for the keroball (since I can imagine such things needs its juice of power to function) but i see only a tad bit of the elixir is used just so it doesnt blow up or disintigrate from the amount of power it has

so since those are the common reactions too it, the way it affected Rusu was to be expected...but the least expected was for them to 'live' through that. especially with how unstable it was yknow? so for how strong it was, the moments of the elixir being dropped and spreading onto Rusu in the last panel it was pretty much slowly turning Rusu into its new host, melting him down radioactively to join the ooze is contents.

Maruru was a silly prankster as a kid so he expected this to be slightly a funny prank (too him) thus causing the unexpected events but for how he reacted it was like his path was chosen for him....although for Rusu instead of being promised a role along with being noticed and his brother being proud he was erased from existence, especially here reason they dont see him is because at his beginning stage he can barely hold his natural form (think of it like liquidy kinetic sand that gets sturdier each time) so of course they mistake him for whats left of the liquids out of the vial....

but ofc Crazeze notices there's more of it than usual, but shrugs it off and places the left over contents into a bigger bottle (which you can see in a few posts i did kinda referancing it hehehe)

even in the orikero rumble i added him cause why not eheheh

also i shall also add a bit more explaination ESPECIALLY on the emblem since i added a bit of a brief history in the comments in one of the comic parts!

also absolutely love the cutiemark reference its way too good AUGHH

so this brings us too NOW, with Rusu now being T:21 being alone for who knows how long and their family and friends thinking he just dissapeared out of the blue one day (but Copupu is still looking for him same with Crazeze as they both are trying to find what the fuck happened)

so now T:21 is just a body of insanity and anger plus trying to fit the pieces on who n what he is, along with using the last moments seeing Maruru as the last thing he saw (thus making it their one goal on seeing their 'friend') which just brings us to later comics that i may or may not make sometime later TEEHEE

but i tend to post bits n pieces of story in doodles so who knows you mightve seen it :3

this week has been more productive for me than the last month was, but i think i needed that rest. i’m JUST NOW starting to enjoy making art and comics again (stopped feeling it around june probably… so its been 3-4 months). i tend to push myself… like a lot. i will spend 5 hours straight at my desk and ink an entire 50 panel episode and then feel like i should start thumbnails for the next episode. i did that A LOT earlier this year—ink a whole ep and then thumbnail another. thats probably why i burned out.

trying to be okay with stopping at natural stopping points. reminder to myself: its not a race!!! better to pace myself and stay sane and creative.

today we have,,,,

A SONG THAT I THINK FITS DEMOMAN!!!!!!

tw heavy mentioning of over drinking n stuff bc thats what the song is abt

ok so the song is Drunk my The Living Tombstone

Whats the song about? It's about a man who walks into a bar to drink with his friends, but he begins to drink more and more and it becomes more unhealthy and he ends up overdrinking and having an addiction to drinking and not being able to stop.

Does that sound familiar? I know it does!

Reminds me of Demoman if you ask me!

Lets start with the instrument of the song... The instrument is funky , upbeat, and chaotic-like, giving me Demoman vibes! It just fits Demoman's personality and who he is in general, a chaotic lil guy!

Now lets go to the lyrics...Ohh boyy...What do I start with..

"Just four drinks, y'know, take the edge off I've had a hard week, I deserve to get sauced!"

Demoman works 3 jobs and doesn't want to get more but his mom would contantly be the little bitch she is and yelling at him to get more just because his dad did, even if he gets lot of money a year... He works so hard and has hard weeks 100% (He needs a long break dude,,,)

"Feel so much better than usual I feel indisputable!"

This and other lines in the lyrics about alcohol addiction just feels like Demoman's situation, one of the reasons (and probably main) is because alcohol helps him with his missing eye, replacing it for him kinda. So I would say that would quite fit in that as well.

"Was I just feeling bored? Am I that insecure?"

This reminds me of Demoman's insecurity about his missing eye, the poor dude even cried when he visitted eye museum with soldier in WAR! comic panel

"I'm gonna hate myself tomorrow then I'll do it again."

Despite Demoman drinking too much (and definetely gets hangovers lot) he would still do it again even if it's affecting him badly to the point his body even started making alcohol, yikes...

I dont know how to explain the rest of the song but the whole song fits Demoman in general. From instrument to lyrics... (Please put this song in y'all's demoman playlist I'm begging you /nf /lh)

Got these thoughts while I was on a trip when I was hearing the song and I think I forgot some stuff so if I remembered I'll 100% edit this and add it

While S3 has not yet been released, there was a panel dedicated to her at comic con, which showed concept art and other S3 materials. Can you tell and show what happened at this event?

And I still don't quite understand why, in the absence of any promotion for the final season, there were no attempts to at least get fans interested in the material that was at comic con? After all, in 2020 the panel was online and all the fans were happy and aware. Because let's be honest, s3 plums were much more informative than official information :3 (I apologize for the errors in the text, the translator is buggy)

Hey ! I'm not in charge of any of that stuff, and I cant control what is released and what's not offically, or at comic cons. If they record it and decide to share it, thats up to Sony Kids/Netflix. I recall there was a No Recording rule there for a reason, but people still recorded and leaked the info. In general, the creative team often has little to no imput or access to how the promotion goes, thats out of our hands completely.

welcome!! to my new review thread where im gonna talk about every monsterverse comic thats been dropped, gonna be doing this until i see the new movie this monday

starting with Godzilla Awakening, the tie-in comic for Godzilla (2014), which... kinda sucks!

this comic had a really weird art style that i didnt really jive with. the art style and way in which the comic was spliced and edited sometimes made for some pretty cool stuff but otherwise its just not very pleasing to the eyes and a lot of the time the dialogue and story didnt make tonal consistency and literal consistency between panels just with how the art is and the way the comic is presented. often times i was confused with what i was looking at going from panel to panel, especially when there was a flashback 250 million years ago that had boats?? like what the fuck lmao, they also said that an asteroid caused the permian extinction which is just pretty fuckin stupid lol

the story also has weird story beats, dialogue, and characters that feel too cartoony for the serious film that was G2014. this happens later in the mainline entries of the series but it isn't something i expected for a tie-in to the 2014 film. the comic follows Ishiro Serizawa's father on his journey as a monarch scientist, which is cool, love to see more of Serizawa and his family, but like this guy just gets fucked for no reason by everyone else. he believes in godzilla and he bears eye witness to multiple things throughout the comic book but nobody ever believes him because.. HES the insane one? like monarch at this stage is an organization designed to hunt and kill MUTOs without starting a worldwide panic, but they scoff at the idea of hunting down Serizawa's MUTO that he has pretty damning evidence for. its really dumb how they have stuff play out and it ultimately leads to nothing most of the time, just annoyingly written comic overall

oh well, the comics retconned pretty much in its entirely due to the show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters anyway. i can tell that a ton of story beats, characters, and other stuff for the show was inspired or directly ripped from Awakening, but it uses it in a different (and albeit MUCH better way) than the comic. rip Shinomura it was a cool titan but the comics bad so idc

mcfarlane spidey - you love wordy comics and switch pretty often between marvel and dc (specifically batman). you really like tiktok slideshows that show you the entire comic, but you also really like those family guy/random video combos too

I love that in Rocket's backstory she was a janitor, because as a janitor myself at the hospital I work at we're given a surprising amount of clearance for accessing rooms in the building, second only to security officers. Also, cleaning and maintenance staff are inconspicuous and often looked over. So, chances are you're not gonna question why a janitor is in a room as long as it looks like they're doing their job. Out of mind, out of sight; a ghost. It would be relatively easy (hypothetically of course, to any future employers I wouldn't do this in real life) to "borrow" company property and do... less than legal things with classified information, and with Rocket's engineering/tech experience and the lackluster security the only thing she would have to worry about is being patient and making sure that she's still doing her job to keep prying eyes away from her. Not saying that this wouldn't be a stressful plan to enact, but in this context it's very doable and I just think that's neat

As for the actual stealing of the ship... well, I assume that's where the luck comes into play.

wait i forgot i had a question! ok so how exactly does Chip's memory deletion work? is it just like a button on the side of her head that just boop and poof its gone? Does she ever accidentally delete memories she wants to keep? wait thats 3 questions oops

HA I'm glad I got that accurate! At my last job whenever janitors got into stuff nobody else was supposed to see there was always this attitude of like "oh well, they won't know what to do with that info anyway." Which is .. hmm. But YES disclaimer for kids at home, I do not condone becoming a janitor to modify engineering plans and eventually hijack a spaceship to leave the planet. Just say NO!

Chip's robot physiology is a little wonky and works by cartoon logic, but basically she has two little electric panels on the sides of her head. That's what those yellow swirl things are supposed to be.

When she wants to forget something unpleasant, she essentially sends an electric jolt through her finger while pressing it up to the panel. and ZAP! (It's sort of meant to invoke the image of someone sticking their fingers in their ears when they don't want to hear something.)

To put it visually, its like her memory is a video in an editing program that she's dragging clips out of, and the gaps in the video are just replaced by vague jumbled static.

Sometimes she actually does remove more memories than intended. When she's in a rush or feeling panicked she'll cut out a wider section of memory in her haste to just GET RID OF THE BAD!! Which deletes pretty much all of the surrounding context of the memory as well. She's never really considered this to be a big issue.

Now where do the removed memory bits go? She has NO idea. All she knows is that she can't access them anymore once she's done the zappy thing, so they're as good as gone to her!

But who knows what could happen? 👀

In honor of Pride Month I think its fair to absolutely lose it over these panels again

Everytime I get back to these panels its just so overwheming.

Over the entire series we see Slade love and be loved but it doesnt really last does it? All these women even addi but it never lasts it always dies out. They or Slade always leaves. Someone always leaves be it on purpose or not.

Except Wintergreen.

Out of all of them hell even Addi herself sometimes, Wintergreen has dealt with SO much shit from slade directly and or indirectly.

He of all people has more than enough reason to leave, turn around and never come back. He could leave him, rat him out, hell even kill him but he doesnt. Through everything he stays. Even when he has every reason even when it kills him. And thats just not something you see. I mean srsly. Show me another comic from that time period that had a man who at times could be horrible that had a bestfriend someone who stuck through everything for them. Someone who even without labeling it LOVED them. Because be honest with yourself. You dont stick with someone forever, be there for them for everything if you dont care, if you don't love them. And it could be platonic it could be more who cares. Its still insanely obvicous that Slade snd Billy cared so much about each other that even people around them, EVEN PAT WHO WAS ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED WITH SLADE AT THE TIME SAW IT.

Another thing about these 2 pages that will ALWAYS have me losing it is the conversation between pat and slade and the last 3 panels afterwards.

The conversation: Slade asks Pat to tell him about billy. Not only does he ask what kind of man he is the one question that stands out to me is "were we really that close". Then Pat answers that they were so close that it didnt even seem like just friends anymore because of how much they cared for each other. because be honest. It would have to take a lot of love to deal with what they deal with. She even adds that billy cares for him more than a friend and also says not in a fatherly way either. Even mentions if she didn't know any better she would think they were gay.

Panel 1: Slade and Pat sleep together after the entire conversation. The thing is the entire conversation leading up to them sleeping together was not about pat, its not about her and Slade, no its about Slade and WINTERGREEN. Even after everything said and done Slade doesnt talk. Pat just falls alseep after.

Panel 2: still no words are said but with a sleeping pat we see a wide awake slade. Hes obviously thinking but about what. Hes turned toward the right looking ahead deep in thought and this is where the 3rd panel rips my heart into pieces

Panel 3: Wintergreen is also wide awake in bed. Unlike slade though he isnt turned toward the right no he is turned toward the left. Almost as if he and slade are staring at each other. Still while no words are said nothing is written its very obvious this means something. It means alot. An entire conversation. Thinking about their closness. Their relationship. What they mean to each other.

And the most heartbreaking thing here. Is that Slade doesnt remember Wintergreen in this moment. When asked pat could have said something like. Oh. Bestfriend. Father figure. But no. She told the truth. She told as how everyone saw it. Wintergreen was more than just s friend. He loved slade. And however that may be taken HE LOVED SLADE. And Slade loved him.

There are so many more examples i could bring up. So many more times that showed how much there was between these 2. I wish this was something comic writers understood today. To make 2 characters and their relationship so interesting you have to show its good and bad sides. You need to show how they complete each other. How they help and mold each other. Even right here with unwritten words we see so much emotion. We see all the unwritten words. We see such a strong bond that you dont have to guess about anything. Another thing today is that this is before times were more accepting and i do truely wonder if this were to be written today what they could do with it. What would become of them. Because i think we can all agree slade is at his very best when with wintergreen. A common theme. Without wintergreen Slade just cant exist. Deathstroke can but slade needs his friend thats more than just a friend. He needs someone he loves. He needs his compass. And at this point billy doesnt just represent morals. He represents the very thing about slade. Love. Whether that be family friend whatever. How ever you look at it. Slades very thing is his love. For everyone around him. Its what makes him, him. Its what makes and breaks Slade and Deathstroke.

Anyways 3am rant over. Dont like it move on.
