He’s about to leave when night wing and Robin (Damian) jump in front of him. They fight and robin kicks him in the ocean, knocking him out. When nightwing sees he’s not coming back, he goes and rescues him. So like they take him back to the bat cave and they put him in a cell and interrogate him, they find out he’s just a kid, a orphan and knows their secret identities (cause like I said, he’s super smart) Bruce decides to adopt the kid saying something like that it’s ether being adopted or going to jail. And Y/N and Damian aren’t happy about but have no choice and yeah that’s it. Sorry if it’s complicated or long - REQUEST

The reader has been adopted by the Batfamily and is injured during a mission. They try to hide their injuries, but Dick or Jason (or both) find out and scold the reader for keeping it a secret. The reader responds by saying that they didn't think it was a big deal. it was a big deal. So it’s fluff and angst. The scenario can end with the Batfamily having a movie night after patching the reader up to help them feel better. If the scenario crosses any boundaries, please feel free to change anything necessary.

Please don't take offense i didn't know if this was on purpose or not so i just thought I'll point it out!) baby ends up crawling out of his crib, out of the doggy door and into the streets in only a diaper and shorts and of course titus is right behind, every time baby tries to go into traffic titus is gently nudging him away with his snout , every time a random person tries to pick up the baby and take him to the police titus is not having it, until eventually word reaches the batfam about this and they go to investigate and the unbelievable anger they felt after watching the camera footage of inside their house, you can choose what happens to the babysitter but family fluff with the baby please! Sorry if this is long i just heard from other writers that the more details they have the easier it is to write, thank you!

When Damian got added to the strays, the reader tried being a good older brother, and he crochets him a little stuffed animal for him as a welcome gift. Everyone in the family has one, even Alfred. Let's say, Damian had a bad day, and coincidentally the reader just finished the crochet animal and goes to his room to give it to Damian. Damian snaps and destroys the stuffed animal in front of the reader, also saying some pretty hurtful stuff. The reader cries because it took a lot of time to male it. Batfamily x teen!reader who’s like younger than Timmy but older than dami, and he’s also a vigilante and were one before being taken in by the family. Anyways he has been with the family for a little while now and he’s close with every member, heck even he’s even close with the JL. But the batfamily doesn’t really know much about the reader’s past, and it’s a big deal if the world greatest detective doesn’t know ether. So a mission goes wrong and the reader is hurt so they obviously have to remove some of their clothing to treat him and they are shocked when they find many scars on the reader’s body. They decide to ask them about it when he wakes up. Once the reader wakes up and sees his body wrapped in bandages, he panics and has a panic attack because he knows they know about his scars now. One of the family member comes in and calms him down, and once’s he’s calm, they ask about how he got these scars. The reader knows he can’t keep lying anymore so he reluctantly tells them. His backstory is like Damians and cass. His father has a clan of his own and he trained the reader from birth to be the best assassin in the world. His punishments and training were harsher than Damian’s even. But he ran away from all that when he was 10. By the time he finishes the rest of the family is there and heard everything, he just breaks down crying again and the whole family now comforts him, telling him he’s safe now. IM SORRY IF YOUR UNCOMFORTABLE BY THIS :(

But I was thinking maybe Bruce and readers mum have split custody and his mum is very demanding, the reader doing things like music and ballet (I just love dancing bc I was a dancer) and their mum pushes them to be perfect, in that and schoolwork and belittles then if it’s not perfect. Like they are worse than most of the family, not sleeping and always studying or pushing his body to the limits with practice. The family is going to a dancing competition for Cassandra and the reader is performing but they don’t know, reader not getting first place and they see how his mother reacts badly, maybe belittling the reader, their reaction maybe. Hey I was just wondering if you’d possibly do headcannons of A fic of the batfam in specific Damian getting all of readers (Damian’s biological older brother who’s a blood witch/vampire) long decade old friends killed by accident when he slips up and tells the league where they operate from and reader cannot cope with this so he goes into the forest at night to scream and cry in private but Damian follows him one night and sees reader about to end their lives and he stops them admits the truth and expects the reader to kill him with one look but instead reader hugs him and cry’s saying he should have been a better brother and he understands it’s a mistake and Damian gets upset as well and hugs reader back just them both crying saying sorry and Bruce finds them and takes them back to the mansion, the end and if you can’t do it cause of the attempted suicide I understand it’s just a personal thing but thank you for considering my request anyways.

Hi! So I’ve had this idea for a while and idk why but I thought I would go ahead and request it. Batfam x Batbro reader who’s the 2nd oldest (maybe their ages range from like 25-18) and is really close with all his brothers. One night after some encouraging from Dick he decides to go out with some friends. While he is gone this villain who he’s been fighting for a while breaks into the mansion and uses his powers of mind control on the family. (the boys and Bruce, Alfred has the night off so he isn’t here) He uses them as leverage over batbro when he gets back from his night out. (Could you focus more on the scene where they break in and mind control happens? I’ve been picturing we see that part happen and then batbro gets home. Kinda like you would see on a tv show) The villain tries to bargain with batbro (maybe he has powers that villain wants?) for his family but because batbro is a smart badass he finds a way to project villain’s own powers back onto himself so batbro is able to command him to release him family and then he gets sent to jail. The brothers are very impressed with his quick thinking skills and they end up having a “sleepover” in one of their room (because let’s be honest, those beds could probably hold like 15 people) and they all fight over who gets to lay next to batbro and Dick and Jason end up winning that fight. It ends with the brothers being like “hope you enjoyed your once chance at protecting us because it will never happen again!” To batbro because they (even the once younger than him) and very protective of him. They bring him and just have a talk when he wakes up and they come to conclusion for him to join the family in their fighting in Gotham?

He has been having a hard time with cases and failing and stuff like that, too much pressure. And he’s kind of hitting his breaking point. So during a fight with a villain, alone. The villain corrupts the reader and makes him evil. For a few months he became a villain and barely anyone could stop him. The batfamily at first didn’t know it was him but during a mission that was orders by the villain that corrupted him, to kill Althea (your oc) but Althea got away with injures but saw his face and told her mom and her mom told bats. So with this new information the batfamily were more devastated . With the help of the justice league the batfamily are in a show down with the reader, somewhere near a cliff and they fight and while also talking about their memories together. Reader was too powerful though and restrains everyone with use his electricity. His eyes are red and with dead eyes he walks towards any batfamily member of your choice and was about to deliver the final blow before the bat member looks at them and says ‘ I love you, my son/little brother’ reader hesitates and his eyes widens and filled with tears, the red disappearing. He’s of course confused and disoriented, he steps back and not notices the cliff. His mind coming back to me as he slowly lets his restaions of the others disappear. He steps back near the cliff and looks back into the abyss and back at his family and friends. With regret and a messed up mind right now thinking he won’t be forgiven, he purposely steps back and fall down the cliff. No one was fast enough to stop his fall and he dies. They retrieve his body and they’re just depressed and stuff for a while hut Damian won’t allow his only little sibling to die and takes his body to talia and he gets revived back. when he brings unconscious reader back, the batfamily are upset at him for doing a dangerous act but happy that it went well. Sorry it’s too long.

Like i imagine the setting would be grocery shopping and Alfred's only getting healthy food including boring plain cereal and BatToddler is not having it and only wants sugar loaded cereal and starts whining and tearing up right there in the middle of the store, would alfred give in to those tears or find an alternative? AITA for changing my grandpa's cookie recipe?

Earlier this week, one of my (22M) sisters decided to fill my rifle with purple glitter. As revenge, I swapped the salt and sugar before she made her waffles this morning. Prank worked, yada yada, that's not why I'm here though.

See, like a dumbass, I forgot to switch them back. I've been running on 4 hours of sleep and I'm not even home half the time, sue me. It didn't really hit me until I was watching my grandpa make his signature chocolate chip cookies.

This was some cinematic shit, I tell you. Everything happened in slow motion. Before I could say anything, he dumped an entire cup of salt into the batter followed by a teaspoon of sugar and started the stand mixer. It seemed then that all was lost.

Out of nowhere, my dad—and I can't believe I'm saying this—descended like an angel from the heavens and asked my grandpa to help him with his hair. And lucky for me, I'm the only other person trusted to be in the kitchen. My grandpa told me to put the cookies in the oven before he went upstairs.

This is where I might be the asshole.

I needed to fix the dough immediately, so I added extra sugar and chopped up some caramel candy to (hopefully) turn it into some halfway-decent salted caramel chocolate chip cookies. Then I scooped them out, threw them in the oven, and prayed harder than the goddamn Pope himself.

Apparently God had a high call volume though, because as soon as the plate hit the table, my ENTIRE family knew something was up, like a bunch of fucking detectives or some shit. And they immediately blamed me. They're not wrong, but the fact that that's their first reaction is totally unjustified.

Anyway, now my family's pissed off and my dad thinks I should've just told gramps, but I think trying to fix the situation should count for something. So, Reddit, AITA?

So i have elaborate backstories for the mci kids here bc i'm so unreasonably hyperfixated on bsd that I must give every character something unique and tragic. Another thing that i'm not really gonna be doing is many location changes. Feddie Faber's Pizza Place is the same building as Fredbear's with a rebrand. The only location changes will by Circus Baby's/sister location and Pizza Sim restaurant.

anyways RANPO. Ranpo is 17 when he dies, the oldest of the kids by a looonng shot. He's an orphan at the nearby orphanage and comes to pizzeria to have some fun for himself. Earlier on, he had met Fukuzawa, the co-owner, and really admired him. Fukuzawa was also like the parent that Ranpo never had. But after Yosano's death, Fukuzawa leaves the town and the company behind. Ranpo definitely knew why he left, but still kept going back to Feddie's because he liked the ambience, the food, the games, the characters, and he wanted to see if Fukuzawa would ever return. Just for a moment. Secretly Ranpo had wanted to ask Fukuzawa and Yosano to adopt him, but after her death, that dream died.

So in 1985, Ranpo is 17, and he becomes friends with the Pizzeria's owner, Dazai, 15, who started hanging out here bc he didn't have anything else to do with his life. Dazai sort of admires Ranpo bc he's smart, and having older friends is cool by default. Also Ranpo is energetic and lively in a way that a severy depressed and grief stricken kid like Dazai would definitely latch onto.

During the Disappeared Kids Ordeal, Ranpo was actively trying to solve the case himself and figure out why a bunch of kids in the neighborhood were going missing, however a lot of his personal connection and admiration would prevent him from fully putting the pieces together and figure out the killer's identity until it was too late for him. When Mori caught wind of Ranpo's investigation, he did him in and put him in the Feddie Faber animatronic. Ranpo solved the mystery, but couldn't get it out to the public. He's also the very last kid to be killed during the incident.

here's his Ghost Form! During the day, and most of the night, he like the other kids stay in their animatronic form. But during some moments and in the Flipside, he has this ghost form! They get a costume that resembles the character they're possessing. Ranpo has a little cape action going, reminiscent of his canon design.

Ironically Freddy was Ranpo's favorite animatronic.

What is SVU? A Random Synopsis

One time I had a reader tell me they had never watched SVU ... this was my response:

Wait.... what? You've never watched SVU?!!!! OMGosh! Okay, SVU. Let me tell you about how amazing it is.

There's this cop, his name is Elliot Stabler. He's an ex-marine with a wife and a bunch of kids. He's partnered up with this smoking HOT babe. You know her, Olivia Benson. The sexual tension is REAL but that doesn't stop them from having a great dynamic and the shows is basically a buddy cop adventure with people getting raped... and Ice T! But he's a good man and doesn't cheat on his wife. In fact, Elliot and Cathy separate for a bit and he still does NOTHING with Olivia.... Instead, he gets his estranged wife pregnant and they get back together. Everything is great until the actor did not renew his contract and the whole show devolves to revolving around Olivia.

Now, don't get me wrong. I LOVE HER. She is my favorite. But since she has to carry the whole show, the writers turn her into a saint. So no more hooking up with hot guys, no more flipping out on bad guys... instead she gets her act together, gets promoted, and adopts an orphan. Yeah... she's a saint. Blah blah blah.

Then Carisi joins the squad and that character pretty much SAVES the show. He came on and we were all like... oh no, here's another character that will be around for a season or two and then gets shot or arrested or killed. But no, not Carisi. He's so sweet and naive... But thinks he's tough. He has a terrible New York accent. He's cute but sucks at knowing how to attract women. He is smart and gets his law degree. He has CRAZY sexual chemistry with Rafael Barba (the SVU assistant district attorney) but of course Barba is a man... And Carisi is "straight" and catholic so it's basically queer-baiting but we all love it anyway.

wanderer - suns' first slugcat creation. after realizing they delivered a bad pearl to pebbles, they hid away from society in shame until spearmaster discovered their existence and helped them come out of the shadows.

martyr - an echocat who constantly bothers saint after discovering that they're both stuck in the strangest form of a cycle. often torments them but also cares for them.

lancers - orphan siblings who look out for each other. bear some striking resemblance to monk, survivor and hunter but is purely coincidental.

friend and poacher - also siblings who look after each other. have contrasting personalities. friend befriends lizards and poacher kills them. cue the shenanigans. friends of monk.

noircat - friend's love interest but very casual about the relationship. would later befriend survivor.

wingcat - a messenger of sorts who came from a faraway place. decided to hang around seeing a civilization develop. friends with vinci and other prankster cats. attracted to batcat.

batcat - a loner type. appears in the shadows. if edge is a word i can use, i shall, but its up to faeling lol. is friends with wingcat and is attracted to em.

vinci - one of the prankster types who hates pebbles and draws graffiti often on their can.

nomad - a gliding slugcat from a faraway land who has streetsmarts but isnt so smart. feeling ashamed for letting their old village burn, they walk alone- but befriends another slugcat named Arbiter, who accompanies them.

arbiter - nomad's close friend. the creation of an iterator who is long passed. initially wanted to stay their shambled place, but decided to leave and really explore the world with their bestie nomad. is the actual streetsmart and smart, but appears quite menacing and shady.

pearlcat - a strange slugcat from faraway, arriving in a mysterious working train. alongside her is her pup named junior. she wields the power of pearls and would later befriend artificer. she would share the knowledge she has to gourmand.

Hello.... I just came back from church and I will worship demons again. Anyway, I just came into mind to Nephalem! Mc, (I love really OP MC) and I was forced to read the bible and another version that's the reason I've come to this conclusion. So like it's between Belith (the most powerful demon king who owns 85(?) demon legions) and Seraphina (the female version of the six winged seraphim) they do the nasty and boom demonangel baby whose raised in an human orphanage because God forbids and Bebelith's (uwu) kingdom opposed. And the child somehow almost terrorizes the entire human race without exposing themselves. Imagine those reactions from the bros + dateables hekhek. I really love the bible sometimes you know...

MC grew up as an orphan, going in and out of foster homes and different adoptive parents. It never lasted though. No one knew why. The kid seemed nice enough, if not a little quiet

Some say it was because they were too quiet. They never talked or bonded with the families. Others say that it was because the other families kept having kids of their own and decided they didn’t need MC anymore

But the real reason? The real reason was because they were actually a little terror

They would start out seeming innocent, sure, but that was all a part of their plan

After about a week though? They would start causing all sorts of chaos.

When MC got sent down to the Devildom, they thought it would be the same thing. They’d be there for maybe a month and then be sent back. But no, that’s not quite what happened

Lucifer:

When MC first came through the portal, he wasn’t quite sure what to make of them

He knew that something wasn’t quite right about them but that would have to be an issue for later

He has things to do

He assigned Mammon to deal with them while he went back to his office to check this “humans” file

Except wait

They are, in fact, not a human

This didn’t go like he planned

He immediately tells Diavolo, thinking he’d want to send MC back and get a new exchange student

But no

He wants to keep them

Lucifer can’t do much else besides just proceed as normal, he supposes

But he does keep an eye on the kid

It’s bad enough that he’s got to be responsible for a child, but a Nephalem?

He’s going to be grey by the time the exchange program is over

At one point, Satan got turned into a cat for a few hours

Okay he didn’t mind that one all that much but still

It’s not smart to mess with him either but oh well

Yet the bears were quite baffled, to find some scrawny 4 year old sleeping soundly in the youngest bear’s bed.

Like how did a 4 year old caused $3,000 in damages????

Of course, they decided it would be better if you stayed with them while the police investigated everything. The cuts, bruises and ticks that littered your body softened their little hearts like butter.

Not Koda though, oh no, he was the only one who saw past that quivering lip and bloodshot eyes act.

Making some radical theories on how convenient it was that it was their cabin they were literally just about to use. How it was his bed, his toys, his clothes you had mainly tampered with… suspicious 👁️👁️

It was like you were… trying to replace him 🤨😮

it did take a while for you to get used to the… larg furniture. Yes, as a child everyone was short, but even now, as a teenager you're still having to climb counters, use stepping stools to even reach the first shelf of the cabinet. (it wasn’t too bad, but it was higher than the regular households)

Sevens, the height difference is even worse. Since the bears in both the fairytale and movie are Grizzly’s. And as anyone who had a hyper fixation on a certain animal and knows a huge chunk of facts about them. Which, of course, mine were bears) Grizzly’s are the second largest bear species.

So your mom is 6’1, dad 6’6, brother 5’11 (middle school) while you're probably around 5’0-5’5?? … So it's always funny when your family tries to talk to you. At first they were used to just turning their head, maybe even tilting down to talk to each other.

But then you came in like a wrecking ball, causing monthly visits to the chiropractor

So they had a better idea, either picking you up or just texting / calling you. smart right 😼

They always had to watch where they were going, and it didn’t help that you were a quiet child. Like a rabbit who spotted a lazing bear, you were quiet, discreet, hopping to and from places as fast as you could, trying not to make much noise or cause too much trouble.

Though this got much better when you got older, now announcing your presence, or expertly weaving around them. You felt like a fairy in a world of giants. Or like you were exploring the tall red oaks of the forest. (Which you luckily went to over summer holiday!)

Also, lots of kudos to the bears for getting you the trauma therapy you deserve. 👏👏👏👏 (*stares at Crowley*)

Oh yeah, the bears, (legal last name) were filthy rich, owning chains of bake shops around Twisted Wonderland. They owned ‘Bears Bakery’’, a thriving family business in the baked goods industry full of pies, cakes, brownies and many more delicious sugar sweets. Although, everytime you asked about how they turned their small, humble bakery into what it is now…

“All you need to know is that it’s a family business my little cub” Mama bear would always coo, smothering you in affection as Koda smirked, shrugging at you in your peripheral vision.

This meant they could afford high quality, specially made furniture, vacations, special schooling, extra curriculums, and the luxurious clothes they lather you with, (Not matter how many times you tell them you don’t want that many clothes) oh yeah and the food bill…🧍🏻🧍🏻

Oh my. That’s another thing. They’re bear beastmen and professional pastry chefs. And if you thought they were only good at baking sweets, then you are horribly wrong. Your kitchen is a chef's wet dream. You had the best of the best in fresh produce, personally inspected eggs, the finest grade A meats, and a spice rack personally filled by some rich people because of some business deal.

Scout has incredible street smarts! While it seems irrelevant in the base dropped in the middle of nowhere, he is invaluable during contract missions located within urban areas.

He can notice an undercover cop in a second, distinguish accents, recognize a scam happening, pinpoint a drug dealer who looks like a sweet old granny and see the signs of some group's terf markings. The team is looking for some local hotshot and they have no leads? Scout runs to the downtown and locates the first bodega/laundromat/bar/gas station/pizza parlor, blends in and befriends some entry-position-apprentice who gives him all the info he needs.

South Boston is the top school in the world for the street-smarts and Scout graduated it with honors.

yep! while scout has resigned himself to the position of “the stupid one” alongside a crowd of extremely talented, socially awkward PhD owners, once somebody finally has the idea that he seems good at talking and drags him along on a mission they figure out pretty quick that holy shit this kid is good at talking.

Engie’s usually the negotiator if they need one at all, mostly because he knows how to say please and thank you when it seems necessary, but he still has sort of a… distrustful aura around him. the accent’s disarming, sure, and does a great job pushing through a crowd of white middle-aged church moms, but it turns out there are a lot of parts where a moderately-wealthy-looking fourty-year-old white man with a little bit of a weird glint in his eyes ain’t really that welcome. so they might send scout in, since he really, really wants to go in and they’re all out of options (unless they want to send sniper, and he’d probably leave the building having bitten at least four people on reflex)—and when he comes back out he’s got everything they need to know, plus some free snacks, plus an invite to some teenage boy’s birthday party.

it turns out that little air of authenticity goes a long way—and the team watches him flip from polite upstanding church-boy cashier to poor sad orphan boy on the streets to egregiously annoying emotional armor-shredding “class clown” in what seems like seconds, and I guess it should occur to someone at some point that he’s spent his entire life figuring out how to blend in places like that and get what he wants.

(everybody would joke he got the ‘good actor’ gene from spy, if it didn’t just make them sad. also, a few people see him effortlessly skating his way person-to-person, molding his conversational targets like putty, and wonder exactly how much of an act he might be putting on back at the base, too.)

addendum: of all the characters he is able to axt in, “suave” or “ladykiller” or anything along those lines is not one of them. please don’t get me wrong. he’s the friendly face you see on the other end of the sidewalk, or the guy you run into at the grocery store that turns towards you and awkwardly tells a whole bunch of jokes in a row and it’s so weirdly pathetic and charming at the same time you can’t help but laugh, but he’s still terrible at romance, and as a matter of fact most things Involving charisma in general. he just takes advantage of that sad wet kitten energy, you know? it works out

Sueharu's backstory (childhood, friendship with Morinaga and falling out, what happened to his eye, how he became a merchant)

Sueharu is an orphan. He has always been alone from his earliest memories. People around him said that his parents had gotten caught up in some conflict or another and died, and he doesn't remember otherwise, so probably that's what happened. Regardless, Sueharu had nobody.

Being a kid with no family to help him, the only thing he could do to survive was to steal. If he was caught, he'd be beaten. And being small as a child, he was often also bullied by other kids. One time, he had gotten in a fight with an older boy, but Morinaga jumped in to help Sueharu in the fight. Morinaga said that he wanted to be friends with Sueharu because he thought Sueharu was smart and strong and interesting. Sueharu had no idea what to make of Morinaga, especially not his reasoning. Sueharu was just some good-for-nothing orphan runt, Morinaga was obviously stronger than him. But an insistent Morinaga is hard to refuse, and so they eventually became friends.

Morinaga's betrayal happens some time later. Morinaga didn't like that Sueharu had to resort to stealing in order to make it to each next day, so he had asked his parents if they could accept Sueharu into their household as a servant. This enraged and infuriated Sueharu, who felt as though Morinaga was looking down on him. He had always harbored some kind of hope that one day he'd become stronger, better than he was now, so that he and Morinaga could stand as equals. And then everything comes crashing down: Morinaga sees him as someone pitiable and inferior, looking down on everything Sueharu had to do to survive and thinking him weak.

So they fight, Sueharu says he never wants to see Morinaga again and that they're not friends anymore, and he leaves town. Again, still as a child, still with nobody supporting him and nothing to his name. Thus, he fell in with a group of bandits who were planning to rob some rich person's cart and sell off the goods. It does not go according to plan, however. The rich man's bodyguards slaughter all the bandits. Sueharu, being a child, was instead captured and taken as a slave.

Specifically, Sueharu was brought to a group of other frightened children, where their captor revealed their fate: some rich people have really twisted interests, you see. And they like to see people fight to the death for their own amusement. Kind of like cockfighting, but with people. There are a bunch of adults who are fighting one another for the sake of the rich people spectating, and every now and then, they shake things up by adding some children into the mix.

Upon hearing this, most of the kids get driven to despair, crying out in fear. As for Sueharu... He's the weakest and scrawniest of all the captured kids, but instead of shutting his eyes and hoping to be anywhere except for here, Sueharu forces himself to watch the bloody fights all the way through. He's studying the way the adults move, how they fight. Because he wants to live. Despite how miserable his life has been before this, he doesn't want to die.

So anyway, Sueharu is picked first and handed a knife, sent to fight against one of the adults. And he promptly puts his 'study' to good use, outmaneuvering the man and in the end, managing to kill him. But during the course of the fight, Sueharu had to let the man get an attack in so that he could launch his own counterattack; this was how he lost his eye. There's a price he needed to pay for victory.

One of the people observing the fight then took an interest in Sueharu, and took him from that place. The man was a merchant, and trained Sueharu to be a spy, assassin, someone who could do any kind of dirty work that needed to be done. That merchant, as you might expect from someone who watches people kill each other for entertainment and buys child slaves, was not a pleasant master. He did not tolerate failure and there were some nights where Sueharu couldn't sleep since he was being punished the entire night long for some mistake or another. But Sueharu grew, and learned, and waited for the right opportunity. And when Sueharu turned 15, that opportunity presented itself, and he was able to seize everything the merchant had, taking the merchant's place and all the power that he had for himself.

In your reply about how L is written without a lot of inner world for lack of a better term, I totally agree. I think L is genuinely a hard character to write because he's both an enigma and highly specific in his mannerisms and speech. It's easy to both go really overboard with how he's strange and off putting and at the same time under write him as a person with ideas and desires. When I see L being essentially written to revolve around Light as either his gay awakening/nemesis/boyfriend/ force that shakes up his life I call it the inverse of a manic pixie dream girl. Depressed Goblin Nightmare Boy L who doesn't really want anything except Light and who exists to do something for Light's character growth. I personally love when fics take the time to give him a past, and a life outside of Light and expands on him as a person and not just a detective. This is a long ramble but anyway, do you have any head canons about L's past?

I think part of the issue that shippy fic writers might run into with L is kind of also that he's not the focus of the source material in terms of like. Having a character arc that needs to be satisfied somehow, really? It's not about L having an emotional journey because it's about Light having one, and L is almost more fun in some ways when he DOESN'T change a whole lot as a character (he's fairly iconic in how stubborn and arrogant and seemingly unmoveable he already is). He's there mostly to oppose Light and make things really difficult for him, as well as to represent things in the story that come up as part of the themes and ideas and whatnot - an equal/intellectual rival that Light can actually feel threatened by and come to respect, a person who already reached the peak of power for his job of bringing criminals to justice and yet does so without necessarily adhering to any sort of noble ideals or worrying about whether or not he's being moral or a hypocrite of some kind, etc etc etc. And a lot of the appeal of his character in canon can also be how vague and cryptic and difficult to fully know he is as well, hahaha. So you're right, he's pretty difficult to fully flesh out in terms of his life outside the Kira case and so on, especially if you don't find him easy to intuitively read.

In terms of headcanons about his past, I feel almost as though it might not be totally set in stone and change a bit for me just depending on what kind of fic I was writing? I might give him certain life experiences and memories and beliefs and so on that would serve a certain purpose in the story, like contrast or parallel things that Light has experienced or believes in or whatever else. So unless I have a specific story in mind I'm not sure I have a ton of them that I'd stick to absolutely no matter what.

However the broad strokes of things we were told about L's past and childhood in the one-shots do make for decent scaffolding to work from for L to me. Like I DO think he probably made himself useful and interesting to Watari at a young age with his smarts, and that he never quite knows if he would have been taken care of or protected or had his needs met properly if he wasn't exceptionally talented in some way, which would definitely be kind of fucked up for him emotionally to dwell on a bunch. I headcanon that he doesn't really like to dwell on the past or the future a whole lot maybe in part because he finds it pretty depressing stuff to contemplate, and that living in the moment is by far his favourite thing to do.

And I for some reason feel like he isn't maybe an orphan in the sense that he has no living relatives left so much as maybe that he was given up or abandoned by them at an early age or taken away from a rough/abusive home life of some sort, and maybe was thought of as much too difficult to care for by them. I think the tension between L's extreme and more difficult traits being both his biggest asset and thing people admire about him most, and also the thing that causes him the most alienation and trouble in his life, or his own belief/understanding that this is the case, might for me be the most interesting stuff to explore more thoroughly with him.

So...

WE'RE BACK AGAIN LADS- BUT THIS TIME IT'S A BOY.

This is William Rivers (Full name drop!) which has appeared on the blog before! Now you may ask me- "Realm? Why is William a Magical Boy now?"

Well one- He is a Magical Girl- because calling him that makes him scream- and Two- It's complicated.

William pretty much as the same back story and personality as Innocent Ash- I just never gave Ash a civilian form or an actual name. So when I did make William- I realized "Wait... this is just Innocent Ash."

So two became one and here we are. I'm not going to mention the certain flower girl toy mascot horror game- because unlike Claire, William was pretty much fully formed- just no name. Or some smaller details I've ironed out now. I have no 'legal' basis to tag this under Poppy Playtime- (Maybe I do? This situation is strange)

However- for the sake of being fair- and because I want to- Thank you @realizinau for indirectly helping me fully realize the OC. (I also think you maybe want to see this? It has a bunch of extra William lore if you just take out the Magical stuff and ignore the other characters mentioned- Great work by the way as always Vis, hope your vacation/trip is going well!)

As before with Claire- who if you have missed you can find HERE-

Below are some details, and under that is a short story telling you more of how he got to this point- In "We who are Blessed Under Starlight" specifically.

William is a Magical Boy by the name of Innocent Ash. He's rather young, one of three of what the Blessed call "The little Trio" which make up him, his adopted sister Swan, and Alice's adopted brother Mako. The three of them are pretty much inseparable (which took William's survivor guilt getting addressed- but more on that later)

William fights with a short sword on occasion- really just when he needs to. His main way of fighting is with his power- FIRE. Be it burning, destroying, or even warding things away, William fights like a fire bender who just wants to see the world burn.

His flames are sadly pretty one note- except for detail that he has almost always perfect control on what his flames will burn. He has also found that changing their color is pretty easy, not that it does much. This has lead to some... creative applications of fire. (One time, he was bored, so he tired to make a normal tree look like Christmas cam early. He is now asked to make flame decoration whenever he can. It's an art form at this point even though William isn't an artist.) (He does it for Swan.)

William is a quiet kid, who's rather smart but that comes from just how perceptive he is. He notices things. Be it moods or information others may miss, he always seems to catch that stuff first. It doesn't help his natural paranoia, but when it's needed- he uses it. (He... has had a lot of bad experiences in orphanages. Even now it clings to him. The feeling of someone trying to hurt him, right behind him- even when it's nothing at all)

William is an Orphan. His parents died in a home fire when he was young. Unluckily, his entire life has been accidents and hardship like that. From one orphanage that met the same fate his parent home did, to one who's entire child populace made his time there hell. He sadly had grow accustomed to wearing a mask- seeming meek and not worth the abusers time... even if it didn't always work. (The only time he's snapped is when his life was really in danger- when things actually got violent- those would also lead to him moving orphanages.) (The only time he harmed someone without violence... is when an older man who worked at the orphanage he was staying at at the time tried to touch him. William had to be dragged away from the man's blood face.)

As said before, he's the adopted brother of Swan- who's parent's took him in after he finally began to trust that he won't be the one person left again- that he won't be left alone again. Even if his new parents love him... he still has trouble sharing that back. He isn't trying to replace what he lost... but he has to tell himself that.

Swan's parents adopted him when he went back into school... there was an entire thing with the law trying to throw him back into the foster system- Claire and Zaken both has paid for a really good lawyer to help win custody and deal with the whole issue. (Later he learned that why it was so hard was that the Orphanage he was last at was only keeping kids so the government paid them- and was trying to keep it hush hush.)

William loves reading. It's his favorite pass times. He usually spends that time helping Swan to read. He cannot lie he doesn't enjoy teach now and again. (It's even better when it's all three of them. Him, Swan, and Mako.)

He has a weird bond with Kaito. Both of them once living on the streets- they kind of get on well together. He does not like when Kaito goes full gremlin and starts stealing stuff. (He usually has to be the one to place everything back. He just remembers where things were easily.)

As much as his entire brand is fire- he likes all of his drinks cold. Give him hot chocolate and he will place it in the freezer to cool it down quickly. Several other of the Blessed have issues with this. Swan emulates him to their collective horror.

William has periods where he just needs to be alone- be in silence and calm down. Over stimulation can get to him easy. Best one can do is give him that. (He tries to deal with it sometimes, pretend it isn't happening. Claire can always somehow tell though. She always makes sure he gets the room he needs)

William Rivers Story:

William believed himself to be Cursed for the longest time.

He had evidence for it. Just look at his life.

When he was only 5- he had to watch his parents burn alive in their home. When he was growing up he had to be tossed from orphanage to orphanage because he caused 'problems.'

Few wanted to adopt him- none ever fully committed after hearing everything he's been in. They said he was too quiet, too antisocial, too cold.

Maybe what else they called him was true... but he was never cold. He only learned how to hide the flames, hid the emotion. To put on a mask and seem like he was only part of the background. It helped, stopped at least the other children from bothering him- either in misguided blame or genuine attempts at friendship only missing the endurance to break through the shell- so he kept doing it.

He was the center of tragedy. No matter what, he always came out fine. He was always the lone person to survived unscathed. Eventually, he believed that to be true. That no matter what, he would be the only one to survive- only one to live. And so he would be alone. That is what he internalized during his time through those dark days.

One day, a Star had fell into a nearby forest. William, who had nothing better to do, followed to where he saw whatever fell from the sky above. Starlight seeped into him as he stepped forward towards the light in the clearing, clinging to his form.

His mind grew cloudy as his skin began to heat. Flames struck and clung to nearby trees. Soon, this once living forest became kindle to a flame unending.

And yet- William did not. Even as fire threatened to make him one with it- he stepped forward and reached for the Star-

The flames that once ate at the green plant life around him snuffed out in an instant, his body back to as it was before he stepped into this place- now with his Matrix, a bright shining Flame above what he knew was meant to be ash, hovering in front of him.

William, with his new found powers, ran. He lived on the streets, away from the constant hurt that came from the places that tried to board him.

One day, a Stranger appeared, and promised him he would grant him his most wanted wish- if only he were to gather Starlight until his Matrix was bursting.

Unannounced to the Stranger, he chose his lie poorly. William, despite it all, never truly wished "For his parents to come back to his arms." They were gone, and he had accepted that.

And so William distrusted The Man who Thought Himself God from day one.

Sadly for William, others did not share his worry, blindly trusting that horrible man's promises. And so- he was brought into the fight orchestrated by the one who sought to claim God's throne.

He did not trust any other Blessed, and did not fight against the Cursed. He defended himself when those who realized the other Blessed carried far more Starlight then a normal Cursed ever would. He ran when the one who could freeze others with just a touch approached him-

And again and again and again.

She wouldn't stop. She even started to do it outside of her costume- with no weapon and powers weakened. He didn't understand.

So he watched her.

He watched how she fought not for some stupid Wish... but for the sake of protecting others. How she had a smile when she saved that child from being eaten by the Cursed teddy bear. How she laughed in joy when she finally beat the tainted master of the towns local Dojo- before undoing as much corruption as she could- not thinking to harvest the poor soul for even a second.

Watching became brief interactions. Where he would ask a question- and she would answer as well as she could.

That too turned into him aiding in fighting- no protecting people. And soon he met others like her- Like Alice. (That was her name... why did it take him so long to ask?)

Then... he met the girl who would become his sister.

Later... he met the boy who he and she would call their brother.

Slowly but surely... he learned he had wandered into a family. He was afraid. Afraid they would die, and leave him... But they proved him wrong.

Again and Again and Again-

They lived. They survived. And they all went back home together in the end.

Even when it got hard. Even when the world itself chose to challenge them- to try and slaughter them as they tried to do what was right-

They did not leave him.

He isn't alone- and won't ever be again.
