Yes, I know I made Zabuza a bit silly, but he’s one of my favourites so let me make them have a happy arc!

He and Kakashi have known each other for a while now, and with Rin’s job making her travel mostly to the Mist village, she also meets with Zabuza a lot.

Also as I said before, the Uchihas are very close together so government conspiracies aside Sasuke would know how someone outside the clan got a sharingan.

This whole arc was a trigger trip for Kakashi. Like they really said both of Obito's lines:

actually kakashi and zabuza in a modern au would go the same gym and do the same sets both at 5am and both would be wearing the grimiest grey sweat pants, socks with addidas slides combo, and the same generic hoodie except kakashi never takes his off and zabuza only wears his when hes walking through the front door. the second difference is that kakashi listens to music to drown out zabuza’s grunting and zabuza doesnt listen to anything because hes mentally organizing how many calories he needs in the next three hours to be able to sprint to the barbell before kakashi takes it again. zabuza finishes his lats before kakashi and in the three seconds he takes to drink from his seven year old water bottle kakashi is already taking barbell. gai is also there. kakashi doesnt notice either of them.
