I’ve realized something. So we all know that Willie is upset about Alex dinging his board when they first meet, and like that’s weird right? It’s a weird thing to be fixated on. Alex did not get drunk. He got tipsy but he did not get drunk. For reasons. Reasons that he had apparently forgotten last night. Or maybe he just had an inability to say 'no' to Willie, which, in his opinion, was entirely excusable but he still should not have accepted that last cocktail.

But he had. And now he was being haunted by blurry, unfocused memories. Memories that hinted at terrible things.

So the next time he saw Willie, he bypassed any greeting and went straight to: "Okay, so, weird question but did I kiss you last Friday by any chance?"

The words were rushed and came out about an octave higher than his normal voice but at least he got them out at all.

Willie laughed. "Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a 'kiss.' More 'leaning against me with your lips.'"

He winked and wagged his eyebrows and laughed again. None of which made Alex feel any better. So it hadn't even been a good kiss! This was worse. This was definitely so much worse!

"Hey, don't worry about it, man."

"Oh, I'm worrying about it," Alex stated with absolute conviction and Willie laughed again.

"Well, if it helps, I wouldn't say 'no' to you trying again? But maybe sober this time?"

Alex opened his mouth, closed it, and eventually squeaked: "Okay?"

"Okay?"

"I mean, yeah!"

"Okay."

They stared at each other for a long, uncomfortable moment.

"Well, I'm not going first. I embarrassed myself enough last time!"

Willie laughed again and then shrugged. "Okay."

He took a step closer and Alex gulped. When his hands reached for Alex's face, Alex remained stock still so he wouldn't bolt. And then Willie's lips were on his own.

It took a second or two for Alex to trust that this wasn't just a joke and to relax into the kiss but then it was a kiss all right! No 'leaning against each other, lips first.' A true, proper, glorious kiss and when they came out of it, Alex found his hands on Willie's hips and a smile on Willie's face.

"So, that was a kiss," he said, a little dazed.

Willie laughed. "It sure was, hotdog. But if you want to try again ...?"

"Absolutely!"

And this time, Alex had no more qualms about going first.

Willie looks at him when he takes a shuddering breath, and squeezes his hand twice. You okay?

Alex swallows, blinks away the tears blurring all the colours together, and squeezes back just once. Okay.

Willie smiles softly, and turns back to watch the crowd parading a few floors below them, marching down the streets with an endless rainbow flag held high and proud above their heads.

“I never thought I’d ever see something like this in real life, y’know?” Alex says.

“We could see it up close, if you like?”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah, man.”

Alex smiles, and squeezes Willie’s hand. Okay.

Almost Cut My Hair

Summary: Willie wraps his arms tighter around Luke and raises a hand to pull out Luke’s bun. There’s nothing he loves more than playing with Luke’s hair, but as his fingers brush his scrunchie, Luke squirms away with a distressed whine.

“What’s wrong, baby?” Willie frowns. Usually Luke loves it when Willie plays with his hair. The only thing he loves more is playing with Willie’s.

Luke hides his face in Willie’s chest and mutters something unintelligible.

“Come again?” Willie asks.

“I think I want to cut my hair.”

imagine it from willies perspective though...... he's just casually skateboarding one day and crashes into this hot and awkward ghost, then finds out he's into guys and might have a chance with him. they hang out, and this ghost needs help so of course he has to help him, but he brings him to this club that has owned his soul for probably most of his life. he really didn't want to let him down bc this is probably the least safe place for them to be. then his worst fears come true and they're given the stamp, he's just ruined his chance with this guy and destroyed the lives of him and his band mates as well. he tells them their only option is to cross over, he had a chance with a guy and he went so far that it was ruined and he probably hates himself for it. now alex can't even have an afterlife without him bc he doesn't have one at all. he's constantly checking in on them, seeing how bad the jolts are, if they were going to make it, how bad did he hurt alex. he does everything he can to help them cross over but that doesn't even work. his last memory of alex is a hug, they both know they could've had a chance together, but it just didn't work out.

The boy from the sea listens to the song of his home and he is glad that his transformation will happen here. Although he fears that afterwards, Alexander will avoid the sea forevermore. But maybe that is for the best and if he survives, he will not have to yearn for the surface because his prince will never seek out the ocean again and there will be no chance of ever setting eyes on him again, even from a distance.

The boy from the sea closes his eyes and listens to the wind, to the seagulls following them from the coast, to the ropes creaking as they hold the sails of their ship, the sailors’ steps on polished wood, and the gentle breathing of the prince beside him.

And then he starts to scream.

A King Of Your Heart scene that never made it past the drawing board. Inspired by Best Worst Mistake from If/Then because I’m trying to make good use of my music theatre degree or something

“You tricked me into saying that.” Willie’s face grows hot. Alex hums, feigning innocence. “I’m not sure what you mean.”

“You know what I mean.”

“I’m a bit hazy on the subject. Would you mind just refreshing my memory?

“You tricked me into saying that I–” Willie stops himself. “Fuck off.”

“I wish you would,” Alex sighs wistfully, earning him a threatening look from Willie. “In any case, Willie, you can’t exactly blame me for the things that come out of your mouth.”

“What–?” Willie huffs. “You distracted me!”

“Oh yeah?”

“You provoked me!”

“You let yourself be distracted and provoked,” Alex replies easily, not even looking Willie in the eye. Willie lets out a frustrated yell, and Alex bursts out laughing.

“You’re seriously laughing at me right now? You piece of shit! You motherfucking–”

“Wow, you changed your tune fast! You were soooo romantic before. What happened?”

Willie strides right into Alex’s space and grabs the front of his stupid shirt. “You better shut the fuck up, Alexander,” he warns.

Alex flashes him a cheeky grin. “Or what?”

Willie’s eyes automatically flick down to where Alex’s tongue slides over his lips. Willie’s grip tightens on Alex’s shirt. Alex hums in that infuriating way he usually does.

“Another one of your empty threats, then?”

“I said, shut the fuck up.”

Alex’s lips sharpen into a smirk. “Make me.”
