Things you might not realize are affecting your ao3 readership:

Putting unrelated fics into one compilation instead of series or collections

Not tagging your fics/“haha I’m so bad at tagging!”

Tagging all of the ships in a fandom instead of the relevant ones to the story

“This is my first fic ever”/ “I’m really not a good writer” / “sorry if this is crap”

Summaries that say “sorry don’t think I will update much” or “might be abandoned idk”

Tagging “r@pe” or “unaliving” etc instead of the actual tag so people can filter/exclude

NOT tagging major, relevant tags or kinks without using the “creator chose not to use archive warnings” option

Telling people how bad your writing is and how you hate it so much and how they shouldn’t even be reading your fic (self deprecation)

Weird punctuation: not starting new quotes or descriptions on a new line, and/or putting extremely long blocks of text on the page without a break

no joke but what I really want for Buddy Daddies as a fandom is to make fanart and fanfic post present time ep12 where Rei wears an arm orthosis when working.

I think varied disability aids being represented would be fantastic, and personally would write Rei as someone being deeply proud of something he's done for his family, but also understanding with time that using an orthosis also helps him at work and in raising Miri. with a giant portion of mobility/motorics aids being represented by prosthetics, seeing more variety and exploring it in fiction would also help making a step in normalising disability treatments.

#that's my personal opinion and i just thought about how understanding more about physical disabilities #and how to help people with those aids in case something happens and they ask for help #has furthered my understanding and might even help me in the future if i were ever to experience that #Buddy Daddies Spoilers #Buddy Daddies #Suwa Rei #(again. i want to write Kurusu Rei SO BAD)#text post #Varya rambles #also drawing an orthosis would be real complicated for an animated work so i understand why they chose to hide the arm #but i really like the headcanon of Rei using it sparingly 🥺 not everyone uses them all the time #+ it's also not healthy if worn all the time. looking @ people who'd let their characters sleep with their prostheis on. smh #and this is also NOT a 'you HAVE to do this'! just something I think would be fantastic #...also I'm like. apparently looking @ a start of a fic where Rei uses it?? is my writer's block finally over?!#here's a hoping 🙏buddy daddies such a good anime. not perfect not extremely beautiful. but GOOD in HEART #1k

y’all know that saying “writers are people, treat them like people!!” means you shouldn’t put them on a pedestal they didn’t ask to be put on, too, right……

#like… y’all know…… saying [insert writer here] is a big writer so automatically they’re *supposedly* more liked is also……#how you say… impersonal and dehumanizing…#bc 9/10 times “big” writers are shooting in the dark just as much as anyone else #and just trying to vibe and have fun and share their work #very much NOT asking for people to put them on a pedestal and be weird about it #i promise it’s just not that deep #we’re all doing the same things like we’re all writing and reading and yelling about the same stuff #trying to have a good time however we can #all being PEOPLE not just the fics we write and share on our respective accounts #so yeah it’s not just about “when’s the next update” or “why did you write your own fic this way” comments #it’s also about weird unsolicited fan behavior that doesn’t belong and makes people uncomfortable + feel less like a person #just. food for thought.#shut up kay

hm maybe i’m going to get flack for this, but i genuinely don’t understand how some self-claimed fic lovers can be the same people who a) pressure and harass writers into producing more and more stories, regardless of their current health or personal lives, b) pressure writers when they aren’t updating fast enough, again, regardless of their current health or personal lives, and c) now, apparently, feed their supposedly beloved writers’ stories into ai bots. it’s becoming incredibly disheartening and clear that some folks don’t care so much about writers and really care exclusively about feeding whatever greedy need they have to just consume.

#caroline talks #don't mind me. maybe i'm just in a particularly horrendous mood because of the weather or whatever #but like. listen. as someone who has had a largely positive experience fic writing + fandom in general #i have still had several instances which still leave a sour taste in my mouth #you can't say 'oh my god i love your stories i would love to read more' in one second #and then go 'why aren't you writing anything how come you're taking so long this one isn't as good as your others' in the next #which like. thank god i haven't had too many of those messages but sometimes. when they DO come in they make me pause #listen to me: a reader's impatience will never be worth as nearly as much as a writer's well-being. okay?

hey melissa ending fix-it but paul's been slowly recovering with emma when he meets pete. pete, whose brother was murdered in front of paul. pete, whose brother paul likely blames himself for the death of. pete, who looks incredibly similar to his brother. pete, who doesn't have a brother anymore. and paul is thrown straight back into his mindset directly after ted's death, and pete is grieving and concerned, and emma doesn't know what to do. angst ensues.

me when i steal the scene from the movie and make it securitywaiter

-so yknow when mike is like “yeah ill trade in abby for garrett (which like why did he do that lmao) and gets just like mauled by the animatronics

-anyways instead of vanessa finding him ness had actually gone in to snoop around freddy’s bc thats what he does as a conspriacy theorist

-he gets there just in time to save mike but mike’s like,, OUT so he takes him back to his apartment to fix him up

-while mike takes a while to wake up ness begins cleaning his wounds and stitching him up and there’s a brief moment when mike is nearly all cleaned up that he looks kinda peaceful(?) lying on ness’s couch and ness is like “huh” but he doesn’t quite get why his heart speeds up a bit

-as ness finishes cleaning him up he starts humming and singing gently and it kinda wakes mike up but he’s still a little out of it and can’t quite open his eyes fully so he’s just like “are you an angel?” bc he fully thought he died back there lmao

-and ness just laughs and goes “i’m fully human as far as i know. the name’s ness and i found you at freddy’s which is lucky for you bc it looked like you were in a bit of trouble there” bc he’s cheeky like that

-and mikes still a little dazed and confused from the blood loss but still he’s like “wait a minute… narrows eyes why were You at freddy’s”

-ness is just like “well you see it’s a long story” and mike just looks down at this injuries with a look that says well i’m clearly not going anywhere soon so i’ve got time

-ness starts explaining the fnaf lore while bandaging up mike and mike is trying to pay attnetion bc this is kinda imp but he can’t help but get distracted with how gentle ness is handling his arm and maybe he’s still a bit dazed but he swears this guy’s voice is a bit melodic and oh. oh.

-mike hasn’t really been in the dating scene much bc of abby so when he realizes that he might be developing a crush on this guy he’s known for a grand total of 30 minutes (and he was only awake for 10 of those) he begins to panic a bit

-uhhhh yeah. they go back to freddys and vanessa’s there and they save abby and it’s pretty much the last bit of the movie but w ness there now! (i couldn’t figure out how to end this im so sorry)
