I'd Do Anything - Luke Patterson
Tumblr media
Summary: Luke Patterson could finally touch the world around him without it slipping through his grasp. With his new-found ability, Luke can finally tell her how he feels. But, when a sticky situation ends up giving him the perfect opportunity, will Luke be able to get the girl?
Warnings: Underage drinking, PINING, slight angst, physical fighting, fluffy ending
Note: For the story purposes, reader could see Luke before
Hello, hello! First post on this blog! I plan on giving a little introduction to me in a separate post! But, welcome to the jungle!
𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪𓆩♡𓆪
Luke's eyes had trailed around the party for 20 minutes, having lost sight of you when you escaped to the kitchen to get a drink. You had walked in together, his arm slung loosely around your shoulder as you strolled over to your friends.
30 minutes, now.
Luke decided he needed to look for you. He strode quickly around the teenage girls dancing on the makeshift dance floor and down the hallway to the kitchen. As soon as he caught glimpse of you his breath hitched. There you were, drink in hand, obviously uncomfortable. The football player had to be easily 6 feet tall.
"What do you say we head out of here? It's boring, right?" The tall boy slurred at you as he leaned over your much shorter stature.
"Sorry... I uh..." You looked around nervously, "I came with my friends... and they're probably looking for me," your uneasiness was obvious to Luke as he stormed his way over.
Now, Luke was never a fighter. Not before he died, and definitely not after. But, when it came to the one girl he needed to protect at all costs, he didn't care. After Caleb's curse had dissipated, Luke ,along with Reggie and Alex, were a little closer to normalcy. They could touch, feel things. Feel a little more alive. And Luke didn't think one of the first things he'd do, now that he could touch things, was punch a jock square in the face.
The initial blow was like a firecracker erupting inside of Luke. Dan (as Luke did lots of yearbook stalking to find his name) was quick to grab his own bruised cheek. Your eyes were gaping as you took in the scene in front of you: Luke angry, and heaving as Dan takes a step toward him. What could you do?
"L-Luke, please stop" You begged, tears threatening to escape as you choked them back.
At this point, the rest of the band had made their way into the kitchen where a large crowd was staring at the two fighting boys. A quick-thinking Alex had managed to peel Luke off of the bleeding teenager as Julie ran over to you.
"C'mon y/n, we gotta go before cops bust this place!" Julie shouted over the commotion as she grabbed you wrist and dragged you outside.
Reggie was quick to follow, not forgetting to grab a drink for the road. Flynn, only recently getting her license, decided to lay back in case they need a designated driver for the night. And, oh boy, did they. Her headlights shone on them as they made their way over to her car, each one of them squeezing in beside each other. Your eyes scanned over the cuts and bruises littered over your best friends knuckles. You weren't afraid of him. But, seeing so much anger in his eyes was new to you. Luke was soft, to put it lightly.
The ride home had been silent, other than Julie recapping the night for Flynn. Originally, you had planned to stay with Julie for the night, but after reliving the night through Julie's words, you decided it was best to just go home. Everyone had said quiet goodbyes to you and letting you know that they were there if you wanted to talk about the events of the night.
Your bed welcomed you with open arms after the long, hot shower you had just taken. A tap on the window had moved you attention away from the re-run that had been playing on your TV. You looked up to see Luke's eye peering through the gap in your curtains. With a sigh, you threw your blankets off your legs and made your way over to the window, careful not to be too loud. You opened it slightly.
"Luke what're you doing here I told-" Your argument was cut-off by him making his way past you and onto your bed.
He had stayed there many nights, glancing over at you from the opposite side of the bed. Of course, when he couldn't touch anything, things seemed simpler. He knew things would never work out between the two of you if you could never touch. So, he had pushed those feelings aside. But, tonight at the party, all he had wanted to do was put his arms around your waist and drunkenly dance.
Your eyes fell onto the blood still speckled across his hands. You audibly sighed and went to the bathroom, grabbing some peroxide and bandaids. If there was one person you'd drop anything for, it'd be Luke.
He winced as the cold liquid came in contact with the open cuts littering his knuckles. You hadn't spoken since he had come into your bedroom unannounced, and this silence was most definitely awkward. You made your way up to the one small wound that cracked his once soft lip, using a cotton ball to wipe off the remaining blood. Luke's eyes darted between yours and your lips, wondering if he should take the chance while he still has it. But, he decided to go with his better judgement on this one.
"Y/n," Luke finally broke the silence, "could I stay here tonight? The boys are all over me with questions and I just need to be away from it and your room is so comfortable and-"
"Luke, you're always welcome to stay, you know that," you paused for a moment, "and, thank you for tonight. I forgot to thank you earlier," you spoke while smiling at him and applying the final bandaid.
The movie you had put on was only background noise as the two of you lay silent in your bed. Your body turned away from Luke as you hugged yourself into your blanket, once again recounting every step from the night. You began to let out barely audible sobs, finally letting them fall after hours. Luke had been staring at the back of your head for what seemed like hours, in a daze of his own. But, that daze was quickly broken as he scooted closer to you and leaned over your shoulder.
"Hey, hey, hey, are you okay?" he asked, turning you to face him, concerned riddling his face.
You were fast to cover your face, attempting to suppress the sobs coming out of your mouth. Luke hated to see you in pain, and even more when he was part of the cause.
"Don't cover your face... you're too pretty to cover your face, come here," Luke sighed out, pulling you to his chest and running his fingers through your hair. You had noticed the calluses on his fingers slightly snagging at your hair, but you didn't mind.
If you hadn't been so upset in the moment, Luke would've noticed how his mind began racing and he finally felt whole. He wanted this. Forever. You and him, cuddled up in bed, his hands stroking your hair as you lay awake. And as much as he wanted to focus on that, you needed him more than he needed you right now. He let you cry. Staining his shirt with the remnants of the makeup you haphazardly washed off in the shower.
"Luke, why? Why did you protect me? You wouldn't have gotten hurt if it wasn't for me!" You manage to push out as you pull your head away from his chest to look up at him.
His usually smug and confident smirk was replaced with a nervous smile as he let out a little chuckle.
"I don't think this is funny, Luke!" You huffed out and rolled over again.
"It's not funny, it's just," he paused pulling you back around to face, "are you seriously that oblivious? I thought I've been pretty bold these past few days." You stared at him, confusion plastered on your tear stained face.
"Oh, you really don't know..." his jaw moved slightly before he bit his lip to think, "Look, I have lived every waking second since I somehow ended up in Julie's studio thinking about you. About the next time I'd get to see you, next time you'd come to band practice. I don't know when it started, but I really," you cut Luke off.
"Luke, if this is a pity love confession then you really don't have to. I'm seriously okay," you let out, your heart beginning to race.
"If you'd just let me finish. I had like a whole speech written out," Luke giggled and scratched the back of his neck.
"Anyways... I don't know when I started feeling that way about you, but I know it's real and it hurts like hell. God, not being able to even touch you for months was hell. It was all hell. But, I still wanted it. When Caleb cursed us I promised myself I wouldn't do it anymore. But, I couldn't help it. And," he looked down at you, searching for any reaction in your eyes.
"And?" You questioned, getting anxious by all of his stalling.
"And, I'm pretty sure I don't really know what love is, but if I had to guess, then this is it, right? You asked why I protected you, and I protected you because I love you. And I know this life might not be what you want, but I'd do anything just to have you by my side," Luke continued rambling, spilling his heart out to you, scared you didn't feel the same way.
"Luke, Luke, hey Luke," his mouth closed as you shushed him," Just kiss me you dork."
And he did.

After the show
Pairing: alive!Reggie Peters x reader
WC: 3.2k
Summary: After being away for a few months you were finally back in Los Angeles, just in time to watch your best friend Julie perform with her band. The first time you got to see them live and get to meet them, including the cute bass player.
A/N: Here's something new which probably nobody still counted on getting from me hahah but writing has always helped me cope with some stuff and even though I hadn't pictured myself returning to this, here I am, dealing with life problems by escaping into fanfictions. So, I hope you guys still read it and like it!!
Tumblr media
It had been a while since you saw Julie last. You had lived with your dad last semester while your mom had to go abroad for work. That left you at the other side of the country, a six-hour flight away from your best friend and your normal life.
Of course, staying at your dad's wasn't the worst. You got along great. One of the only plus sides of that move was that you could spend more time together, but you also had to get used to a new place and new people. And you missed your friends dearly. Daily Facetime calls to Julie and Flynn kept you going, but those declined in frequency as well. Everybody got busy, so these past few weeks it had been, at most, one call a week. With your upcoming move back home to California, Julie's successful debut with her band and Flynn managing them, there hadn't been a lot of time. Until now.
You were finally back in California, basking in the Los Angeles sun. The hot sand beneath your feet warmed your soul. A content smile graced your face while you were waiting for Julie and Flynn to join you. This felt like home. Definitely.
Your serene moment got interrupted as someone practically fell into you, making you tumble forward a few steps. You were able to keep standing with arms still wrapped around you. With them came a squeak and the call of your name before the figure, which turned out to be Julie, came around to your front. As soon as you saw that familiar face you pulled her into your arms again. Yep, home. "Oh my God, I missed you so much!", you said, squeezing her once more.
"Same! I can't believe you're back! Finally!" The two of you let go of each other and settled onto the sand. "Tell me everything!"
"Well, you already know basically everything," you laughed. "I mean, the last time we talked wasn't even 24 hours ago."
"I know!" Julie took ahold of your shoulders and shook you. "Way too long! I need a play-by-play of your flight."
"Uhm ok, so, when I got to the airport..." And so you told Julie everything that happened at the airport, on your flight, at the reunion with your mom, the ride home, just everything up until the point where she had joined you at the beach. "When is Flynn coming by the way? Shouldn't she be here already?" You looked around hoping to catch a glimpse of the girl amidst the other beach-goers.
"Oh yes, I forgot to say! She actually had to hang back for a bit. She was able to get us a gig tonight, totally last minute, so she had to organize some stuff, but you'll see her later when you come to the show."
"Oh, so I'm invited, huh?" You bumped her shoulder.
"Of course, you are! We made sure to have you put on the guestlist. Then you can also meet the rest of the band! They're so excited to meet you. I mean, Flynn and I always talk about you, so they're always on us about when they actually get to meet you." She laughed at the dorkiness of her friends.
She could still picture the first time you were brought up in conversation in front of them. Flynn had been late to watching the practice and when she finally did come in, she looked a little distraught. Julie had asked her what was wrong, but didn't expect that the reason for her distress was actually your distress. You had just broken up with your partner who was not ready to commit to long-distance, even just for a while, so you had called your friends in tears. The boys had immediately told Julie and Flynn to not worry about practice and call you back and be there for you. Since then, you had been topic of conversation a few times.
"Actually," she continued, "Reggie could not shut up about you being at the show today since we found out it's happening, so you can't disappoint my bassist by not showing up." Julie wiggled her eyebrows at you. That's what you get for one time mentioning that you thought the dark-haired bassist was cute and asking about him. You had kept up with Julie's band, watched all their music videos and the private photos and videos that Julie had sent you.
You felt a warmth spread over your neck and cheeks, slighty embarassed by the teasing. "Oh please, Julie, shut up." You chuckled and looked out at the waves crashing onto the beach. "Of course, I'll be there. I'm super excited to meet the band, too. And to see you perform live!" Looking back at her, you saw the spark in her eyes that had been lost for so long after her mother's death, but there it was, portraying her excitement for making and sharing her music.
The moment got interrupted by an alarm sound coming out of Julie's pocket. "Oh ok, that's me. I actually have to run now," she said while standing up and silencing her phone. "I need to prepare for the show, but I'll text you all the details and will see you there tonight! Ok, bye, love you!" She shouted over her shoulder while already walking away in a hurry. You laughed to yourself at her behavior. It hadn't changed in all this time. You stayed at the beach for a few more minutes, before deciding to go home and get ready yourself.
You looked in awe at the line in front of the club the band was playing at tonight. So many people were here to see your friend perform. It was crazy. And you actually got to walk past all these people to tell the bouncer your name and be let in before all of them. The whole experience was so surreal, but it was everything you had ever hoped for your friend. Inside was already pretty packed as well but Flynn had texted you where to find her, so you made your way through the crowd to the roped-off area at the side which was slightly elevated. You once again gave your name to the woman standing there. She scanned her clipboard before she moved aside to let you in.
You spotted Flynn pretty easily in her eye-catching outfit. She was sitting in the far corner, closest to the stage, typing away on her phone. You walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey there, stranger!"
She turned around quickly. Her eyes widened when she saw you standing there before she jumped out of her seat with a wide smile on her face. "You're here!" She pulled you into a hug. "It's so good to see you! Wait, let me look at you!" You were pushed an arms-length away, so that she could check you out from head to toe. "And you look amazing! Perfect! Show-stopping!"
"Well, I hope not. I did come here to watch the show after all." You took the seat next to Flynn's, catching up with her until the lights dimmed and the show started. You and Flynn immediately got up from your seats as the stage lights came on and illuminated your friend and the rest of the band. Julie's gaze quickly flickered up to where you and Flynn were standing before she started playing the first notes of the song. Actual tears sprung to your eyes as you watched your friend live her dream. You were so proud of her.
You watched her interact with the other band members while performing. They all seemed to have so much fun on stage and you could clearly see their passion for music shining through. More than once did your eyes glance over to the bassist. You had to admit that Reggie looked even better in person than on the screen. He had to know what he was doing when he put on that leather jacket for the performance. Damn.
When the show ended, you actually felt out of breath from all the dancing and jumping and singing along you did with Flynn. The whole concert was so much fun and you could not get rid of the smile on your lips. "So, I am in charge of getting you to Julie's for the after-show party," Flynn turned to you and explained.
"Wait, there's an actual after show party at Julie's? And her dad's fine with it?"
"Yeah, it's just a few people and as long as we clean up and don't make too much noise, he's chill. So, you coming?" Flynn held out a hand for you to take and then skillfully maneuvered you through the crowd. The ride to Julie's turned out to be Flynn's mom who greeted you with a hug. You three chatted for the whole ride, mainly about your last semester and the show, before she dropped you off at Julie's. Before driving off she reminded Flynn to be respectful and considerate of the people living in the house to which Flynn rolled her eyes, but promised to be on her best behavior.
After her mom was gone, she turned to you. "Ok, come on, we need to get some snacks and drinks out before the others arrive." She led you to the garage, which you hadn't entered in what felt like years, and pulled the doors wide open. The lights turned on and as you looked around you realized that not much had changed, except for some trinkets being strewn about here and there. You quickly helped Flynn get some drinks out of the mini fridge and onto the table as well as some snacks when the first few people already started arriving. You easily recognized Nick, one of the first to enter the garage. He hadn't changed much from when you last saw him, still had the same Golden Retriever look to him. Carrie was also easy to spot. She spotted the two of you instantly and came over to greet you. From your calls with Julie and Flynn you were already aware that the feud had ended and there was some kind of friendship blossoming now.
"Hi, girls!" She greeted both of you with a hug before she turned to you. "It's nice to see you! How long have you been back?"
"Oh, just today actually. Been quite a busy day." You made some more small talk with her while other guests arrived and Flynn went off to greet them. It wasn't long until the conersations stopped to greet the arriving band with a round of hollers and applause. The guitarist, Luke, you knew, basked in the applause, entering the garage with raised arms and a grin, ready to high-five his friends that were waiting for him. Julie, Reggie and Alex followed. They had the same grin on their faces, the performance high, but passed up on the high-fives.
Carrie excused herself, but you didn't stay standing alone for long as Julie spotted you and pulled Alex and Reggie over to you. "Guys, I want you to meet someone," she exclaimed and proudly introduced you.
Aley was the first to speak up. He had a nice smile on his face. "Hi! It's really nice to meet you! I'm Alex. Julie has told us so much about you, it's like meeting a legend." Julie hit him in the arm for that comment. "Hey! What? It's true! You're always talking about her like she's a celebrity or some kind of myth. No wonder Reggie-" He got cut off by another hit in the arm, this time from the bassist. "Alright, fine, I'll stop stalking! Anyway, nice to meet you. I'm gonna go over there to my boyfriend." He turned and walked right into the arms of a long-haired guy on the other side of the garage who had been engaged in a conversation with Luke.
You turned back to the other two still standing with you, holding back a laugh. Your gaze fell onto the one who had yet to introduce himself. His eyes were still trained on Alex' back, but as he turned towards you, he realized that your focus was already on him and his cheeks turned red. It only took him a moment to regain his cool though. "I'm Reggie. Nice to meet you!" His eyes trailed your body once over. He shot you a smile. "I can't believe you're even prettier in real life than in the pictures." That earned him another smack against the arm from Julie. He yelped. "Hey! That's not how you treat your bassist!"
"Whatever, go get Luke, I want to introduce him, too!" Rubbing his arm he left, pouting, to get the guitarist. As soon as Reggie said a few words to him, he came jumping right over and put his arms around Julie's shoulder, placing a kiss on her cheek. She chuckled a little at the display of affection. "Luke, I wanna introduce you to-"
He cut her off, saying your name himself. "You talk so much about her. How could I not know?!" He smiled brightly and pulled you into a hug. "Great to finally meet you! How did you like the show?"
"Ah, it was amazing! You all looked so great out there! I had so much fun and everything sounded great! You even played my favorite song," you admitted.
"Oh, and which one is that?" You told him your favorite song, him nodding along to your answer. "Yeah, great taste you got there!" He looked around the room as a group of guys called his name. "Alright, I gotta go entertain for a bit, but we'll definitely catch up soon!" He promised with a wink and another kiss to Julie's cheek.
"Is he always like that?" You asked her.
"Most of the time." She nodded before breaking out into a laugh which you joined.
At some later point in the evening you found yourself on the couch with a drink in your hand. Reggie let himself fall into the seat next to you. "Hi there!" You smiled at him.
"Hi!" The small smile he gave you made him look even cuter. "Sitting here all by yourself?"
"Well, I was just waiting for you to come keep me company."
"Oh." That took him by suprise. "Here I am!"
You tilted your head to the side a bit, taking him in some more. He was still wearing the leather jacket you liked so much during the show with a simple white shirt below it and a pair of jeans. "I really liked to watch you play. I wanted to tell you that before, but you left so quickly."
"Ah, thank you! Yeah." He rubbed his neck as his cheeks turned pink. "Sorry that I left so quickly. I actually did want to talk to you some more! Julie told us you were coming to watch us play, so I- we put some extra effort into making this show amazing!"
"You certainly did! How long have you been playing bass for?"
"So long I can barely remember. I learned the guitar first though," he admitted.
"So you play the guitar as well, wow! I've never had any musical ability. Julie's mom tried to teach me to play the piano a long time ago, but it was completely hopeless." You chuckled at the memory. It was right in this room so many years ago.
"Maybe the piano just wasn't the right instrument for you? I can teach you some guitar if you want. Or bass, if you prefer."
"Alright, I'll hold you to it, but really don't get your hopes up. It might end in an absolute disaster," you joked. "Let me actually give you my number, so we can set a date."
"Oh yeah, totally!" He pulled out his phone and opened it to a new contact. You put your number in and called yourself right after saving it.
"Now I have your number as well." You smiled at him before saving the number into your phone as 'that cute bassist'. You hoped he had seen the name but when you looked back at him his eyes were trained on your face.
An hour moved by as you kept sitting on that couch, talking and laughing with Reggie. Luke, Alex and Julie had each come over for a few minutes but left fairly quickly to give the two of you some space.
"Hey, do you want to get some fresh air? It's getting a bit stuffy in here," you suggested to which Reggie agreed. The doors had been closed by now to keep the noise from reaching the neighbors, so that you hadn't noticed it'd gotten a bit chilly. Before you could say or do anything Reggie already took off his jacket and laid it over your shoulders. You pulled it on tighter as you took a seat on the stairs, the smell of the leather enveloping you. It smelled good, you imagined Reggie to smell distinctly of the jacket as well.
"Can I ask you a question?" He asked warily.
"Of course." You assured him, placing a hand on his thigh.
His eyes fell from your face to your hand. "Are you flirting with me? Like, are you actually hitting on me?" His hopeful eyes found yours again as your smile turned wider.
"Yes, Reggie, I have been all evening."
"Oh, ok, good, so I didn't misinterpret anything." He laughed a little and placed his hand over yours that was still lying on his thigh. "You see, I think you're really pretty. I've thought that since Julie and Flynn showed us pictures of you for the first time. And now I know, you're really funny, too, and I'm just totally blown away by you, so I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me?"
"I would like that a lot, yes. You lnow, I've had this little crush on you for a while now that Julie and Flynn have been making fun of me for. There's something about you that really draws me in." You bit your lip, taking Reggie's attention from your eyes to your lips.
"So, uhm, can I kiss you right now?" He asked.
Your lips spread into a wider smile as you shuffled closer to him on the stairs. "Yes, Reggie, I'd love that." There wasn't much of a gap between your faces anymore now, but he took his sweet time letting you feel his breath on your lips before finally connecting them. His lips moved softly against yours. He squeezed your hand on his thigh and brought the other one up to cradle your face.
You pulled back a little to catch your breath. When there was a crash from inside the garage your gaze quickly flicked to the door to check if anyone was coming out. When nobody did, you turned back to Reggie. "Do you wanna go back inside or keep doing this?" You asked him, hoping for the latter.
"I think, I'd rather stay out here a bit longer." He smiled before catching your lips in another kiss under the starlit sky.

We're Not Friends
Tumblr media
Pairing: Alive!Luke Patterson x Fem!Peters!Reader
Friends don't look at each other the way I look at you
CW: implied smut, food descriptions, jealous Julie, College apps, music, movie mention (deep impact and dante's peak)
Dividers from @firefly-graphics
Tumblr media
Luke looked at the feast she had put together for their movie night.
Popcorn, candy, loaded nachos, samosas, pizza, there was a pack of soda under the coffee table. He was just waiting for her to come downstairs.
They got lucky their parents didn't care about these sleepovers. Luke's parents loved you, and your parents loved Luke. It helps that you grew up next to him and was his best friend’s sister. It was a tradition since they were kids where they'd pull a random movie out of the movie hat, though over the years it's changed into Genres so she could keep the boys over longer. Eventually when they'd met Julie and Flynn the girls would come over too, but tonight, it had just been the two of them. Not that either of them minded. They were best friends for a reason.
"Okay so tonight's roster is…." She dug around in the old top hat, pulling out a slip of paper. "Disaster movies!" She put the hat under the coffee table, and walked over to the DVD rack. "We have twister, twister two. Dante's peak, the day after tomorrow, 2012, Armageddon, the core, and deep impact."
"I don't think we've seen Dante's Peak or Deep impact."
She slipped one of the DVDs into the player, sitting down on the couch, pulling her blanket on her, scooching just a smidgen closer to Luke. The two of them were quietly watching, passing snacks back and for, occasionally making jokes about something happening in the movie
It's coffee time! Coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee! Cappuccino, java, YES!
He heard her giggle knowing her obsession with coffee already.
At some point she ended up curled into his side, his arm around her. Neither of them had second thoughts about it, the feeling being natural.
As the credits started rolling Luke looked down to see her sleeping lightly. His face flushed but he dared not move. Her long hair had been pulled until a messy top knot, and now a few of her white streaks hung in her face, a tiny bit of drool in the corner of her mouth. They had eaten a fair amount of the food, the samosas being the first to go as they were her favorite.
He heard the basement door open and Reggie came downstairs.
"Did sis fall asleep again?" Luke just nodded and Reggie stood in front of them, hoisting her over his shoulder. Luke started cleaning up the basement as Reggie took her to her bedroom.
Alex came down shortly after, followed by Flynn and Julie.
“Looks like we missed the party.”
“She fell asleep, but I’m sure Reg wouldn’t mind if we stayed and watched another movie. Flynn was already plopping on the couch as the next dvd started, her favorite move starting.
“What even is this?”
“Deep Impact! It’s her favorite movie and we pulled the disaster genre today.” Luke smiled to himself as he picked the cases up. She had been obsessed with it ever since she saw it, always watching Storm Chasers. She had wanted to be a meteorologist when they were little, but it’s been a while since they had that kind of talk. He noticed the room go quiet and looked up from the dvd case to see the four of them, Reggie having made it back down, staring at him.
“What?!”
“Dude, just ask her out already.” Luke sputtered a bit at Alex’s blunt statement.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. She’s my best friend.”
“You have my blessing if that's what you need bro.” Reggie made his way over to the couch. “She totally likes you too in case it wasn’t obvious.” Julie paid them no mind and scrolled through her phone. It was the truth, but it still hurt. She could tell when they’d all first met, but regardless she caught feelings.
While everyone found spots around the basement, Julie and Flynn taking the guest room, Reggie went upstairs to his room.
Luke couldn't sleep. No matter how hard he tried, how many sheep he counted. He kept thinking about her.  Maybe it was those thoughts that compelled him to sneak his way upstairs to her room.
He knocked quietly before slipping in through the door,  his feet finding its way through the dark to her, the layout of her room memorized.  He slips in under the covers facing her. When her eyes open slightly he puts his hand on her cheek. "It's just me, Elm." She smiles at his voice, nuzzling into his palm slightly and moving closer to him. Luke lets out a soft chuckle, gladly pulling her into him and smelling her pomegranate shampoo. He wanted to believe she stuck with it because he liked the smell, but he knew deep down it was only because it smelled like her.
"Skyguy?" He tilted his head down at her. "Can you take me flying again tonight?"
"Whatever you want, Elm." She settles back into him, falling again into her deep slumber.
Luke still had problems falling asleep, but when he focused on her breathing he found himself pulled quickly to sleep.
When they first met, it had been nothing but talks of star wars. She turned towards him with those big green eyes, they were 8 that year, and very simply said "You're going to take me flying someday."
He made it a vow then.
'Cause sometimes I look in her eyes
And that's where I find a glimpse of us
And I try to fall for her touch
He has this dream often. The two of them racing towards the edge of the world. Jumping off the ledge and soaring through the skys
But I'm thinking of the way it was
Said I'm fine and said I moved on
Her standing front row of his front row show
I'm only here passing time in her arms
Hoping I'll find
A glimpse of us
His home, her family, Alex, they were all his home
Luke awoke in the morning grabbing one of her notebooks from her night stand, and scribbling away some lyrics. Something to save for later so he doesn't forget.
He peeked over at her, still asleep, her white strands hanging in her face. He thought back to the nickname, refusing to see him as the Skywalker he'd been named after "You're way too dramatic to be Luke. Your dad should have named you Anakin."
He smiled and tucked around her again.
She had woken up to find Luke still wrapped around her, their legs and arms a tangled mess. She should just tell him. Ask him to stay like this with her, just the two of them. But instead she carefully untangled herself and padded downstairs. Their parents left a note, officially designating their much needed vacation. The Peters siblings had the house for the next 4 days. She smiled softly and heard Reggie pad down the stairs, immediately pulling out breakfast.
"Do you think pancakes or French toast?" He pondered his option when you put the bread back in the fridge.
"French toast calls for the special bread from Madame Alexandra's. Do pancakes today." She smiled and walked outside into the back, unlocking the shed their dad let her and Reggie use for a music room.
Alex, Julie, and Flynn awoke to the smell of breakfast, the three of them migrating upstairs where Reggie had almost finished.
“Welcome! Julie and Flynn this is your first annual Vacation weekend at the Peters House!” He was putting massive plates of food on the table, and Alex started grabbing drinks from the fridge. “Typically the guys stay over all weekend, but it’s totally optional, my parents are out of town until Tuesday for their yearly ‘Alone Time’.”
Luke rolled out of her bed, his face hitting the floor. Groaning, he sat up, giving himself a minute to wake up. He peeked over, saw your side of the bed empty and peeked out of your window, noticing the door to the music shed open. He walked down to the kitchen, everyone else already getting seated at the table. “Hey Luke, can you go get Y/N? I think she was practicing out back.”
“Already on it. Save me one of those weird bubbly juices your mom gets?” Reggie threw a cheesy grin and grabbed their normal breakfast drinks.
“I’m sorry, bubbly juice?” Flynn was curiously eyeing the can put down in front of her. “Why have I never seen this before?”
“My mom has Champagne taste on a beer budget is what my dad always says.” Reggie sits down at the end of the table his dad usually sits, scrolling through his phone. “It’s just carbonated juice though. My mom buys in bulk.”
“Hey, speaking of which, we should go get food for the weekend.” Alex pulled out a pen and notepad from one of the drawers. “Can we take your sister's car?”
Reggie feigned offense at this comment, scoffing at his suggestion.
“Yeah we can take my car, but I have to drop my audition tape off while we’re out.” She sat down in her normal spot at the end of the table after setting the case down on the counter, Luke sitting next to her.
“Audition tape?” Julie didn’t realize she was in music, but she also went to a different school than the rest of them. There was a lot she realized she didn’t know about her.
“Yeah um… Itsmyjulliardapplication.” she flushed and hid behind her hair, mumbling to herself before grabbing food from the table. Luke smiled at her, his heart fluttering.
After breakfast the 6 of them piled into her blue SUV, Alex confirming everything on the way to Wholesale Sam’s.
She dropped the four of them off, and the two of them went to the post office down the street.
“Are you excited”
“A bit. I’m also a bit nervous and a bit scared and worried and…” She trailed off when Luke put his hand over hers. “It’s a lot to take in… I doubt I’ll make it in, I don’t go to a music prestigious high school like you guys.”
“Okay true, but you’re amazing. I’ve never met anyone who would beatbox and play an instrument, let alone write the way you do.” She smiled slightly at his words, a pink heat dusting her cheeks. He held her hand the whole time as she dropped off the parcel, and the entire way back to the store.
“Luke?” He turned towards her as they parked, his bright eyes gleaming.
“Thank you. I’m really glad to have you as a friend.” The words stung both of them, but he smiled, and just walked with her into the store, meeting up with the rest of their friends.
It was really like any wholesale store, and soon they found themselves heading towards the back of the store where the freezer section was, forgetting that Luke was holding her hand.
Reggie nudged Alex when they approached, but no one said anything out of the ordinary. It wasn’t until she surged forward towards a bin of giant Stuffies that Luke realized he had been holding her hand the whole time. It felt empty and cold, and his face fell slightly at the absence, but seeing her stand there with a giant round penguin-looking thing made him smile. “Look, it's a penguin! But also a mango!” She dropped it by the bin and dug through it again, producing a watermelon with a pugs face on it. “We can be matching!” He never saw her get so excited over squishies before but before he knew it she had dug up a stuffed Plague Doctor and Nurse B, almost as big as her. Luke had no idea where he’d put it in his room, but the smile on her face convinced him he’d do anything to keep it there.
“Sis those are pretty big, You wouldn’t have room for it.” She seemed to ponder this for a moment before putting all the giant stuffies back and producing two smaller keychain stuffies of the same pair.
“I can settle for this then.” She put them in the cart, and the 6 of them continued shopping.
The trip ended with a stop at Her favorite bakery, getting the special french toast bread she loved so much, but also treating everyone else.
“Julie, do you want something?” Her question caught Julie off guard who just nodded, and Flynn pulled her over to the case.
The rest of the day everyone spent hanging around the house. She excused herself upstairs during their game tournament, padding up to her room. Truth be told she felt too anxious to be around people, and she had hoped the olive branch of food would be enough to show Julie she wanted to be friends. She didn’t notice she had been crying until she heard a soft knock on her door. She quickly wiped her tears and opened the door to a concerned Luke. She moved aside slightly for him to come in, and he wrapped his arms around her.
“Are you okay?” She nodded and felt his lips against her forehead.
“I’m just a little overwhelmed lately.” He nodded and pulled away looking down slightly at her face. He couldn’t help but look at her lips, his concern still festering seeing them chewed up. He hadn’t realized she’d been doing it all day. “Luke…”
“I’m sorry… I should go back downstairs.”
“No wait…” Her hand was warm against his arm, and he faced her again.
“Be honest. Are we friends?”
“Of course we are.” He almost scoffed at her question. “You’re my best friend…”
“Am I? Cause there are times when I think… no I want-”
“-to be more…” His eyes fell to her lips again as he finished her sentence for her.
“Luke I-” She’s cut off by his lips on hers, his hands on her cheeks. He pulls away slightly, kicking the door closed and walks to the bed with her. “We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.”
“I want to.” He kisses her again, hungrier, and faster “I’ve wanted this for so long. I’ve wanted you for so long.”

3 months later
“Oh my god.” Luke hears the ripping of an envelope, and all 6 of them jump up. “Oh god I can’t read it. I can’t face this rejection.” She hands the letter to Reggie, who rips it out of the envelope and hungrily reads the words.
“Dear Miss Y/N Peters, We are pleased to announce that your application has been accepted and you will be attending Julliard for the next Fall semester!” She screams in excitement and the group rushes to hug her.
She cries while muttering about how she couldn’t believe she was accepted. The group celebrates later that evening with the rest of their families.
And amidst the crowd she finds herself and Luke alone in her bedroom. “So… New York huh?” A sad smile washes over her face, and the tears she was holding back came through. “Hey don’t cry babe you got in! That’s good isn’t it?” He moves so he’s sitting on the floor beside her. He wraps his arms around her, and she nestled into his side, the two of them leaning against the wall.
“Luke I… Reggie and I have never been separated. I haven’t been without you for more than a few weeks since you became friends with him too and…”
“Hey…” He pulls her face up to meet him. “I never said you’d be going alone.” Her eyes widened a bit at his statement. “Besides, New York sounds fun. And if you decide we don’t like it there we can always come back home.”
“Luke Patterson, you are my home.”
“And I’d follow you anywhere.”

Stop flirting with yourself in the mirror, Reggie + any (Flynn? Carrie? Anyone? I can't choose)
Reggie wasn't quite sure why he was invited to girls night when all the other guys - even Alex, who liked pink and pop music and dancing - were banned. Maybe because he had Serious Opinions in the Team Jess versus Team Dean versus Team Logan debate. Maybe because he was basically Julie's unofficial brother and Ray's favourite child and he was always over at the Molina house anyway. Maybe because he liked butterflies and glitter.
What started as sleepovers and movie nights as teenagers evolved into clubbing once they hit their twenties. (And then sleepovers and movies later. Romcoms were way better when you were three fruity cocktails in and had stopped to grab greasy take out on the way home.)
Also, he loved playing Fake Boyfriend for all the girls. It meant they could dance more freely, without guys bothering them, and sometimes it meant that people thought he had three girlfriends at once which was hilariously good for his ego. Even though Julie was like, kind of his sister, which, you know, gross.
"What do you think?" Julie asked, coming out of the bedroom where the girls were getting ready. She was wearing a pretty dress, all shiny sequins, and a pair of black sneakers with white doodles that would light up perfectly under the black light.
"I think Tía would have a heart attack if she saw you wear that," he said, shooting her some finger guns. "You look like a sparkly disco ball in the best way. Those sneakers are going to pop. "
Flynn was out next, and he gave an enthusiastic attempt at beatboxing so she could walk down the catwalk to show off her outfit, some tight faux-leather pants and an eye-popping neon crop top over a mesh body suit. He applauded at her flourish and pose at the end. "You look like a fashion model!" he said, and she grinned. "We're not going to even get to the club before you're swarmed by fashion bloggers! They're going to crown you their queen."
"You look..." she eyed him. "The same."
"Hey!" Reggie pouted. "I spent like forty-five minutes on my hair!" Okay, so he was just in his usual ripped jeans and black tank top, but like, the clubs got hot. He wanted to get his groove on with the girls, so the leather jacket was out. He was still debating if he should wrap his flannel around his waist or not. Even though chances were if he did, one of the girls would be wearing it home because he was a gentleman.
"And it looks perfect, babygirl," Flynn said, and he didn't care if there was a sarcastic undertone to it, he beamed. "But you are not Club Ready. Hold on, let me grab some eye-liner."
And it was only because of many, many Girls Nights that Reggie had perfected sitting perfectly still without flinching while people poked sharp things near his eyes.
But when Flynn was done, well, he looked Good. Like, good good. Like sexy brooding punk who had a secret soft side good. He completely missed Carrie's grand entrance, he was so busy making faces at himself in the mirror.
"Stop flirting with yourself in the mirror, Reginald," Carrie said, impatiently tapping her foot so he could turn around and give her her deserved accolades.
So he did, turning around and beaming. Carrie was, of course, in all pink, a tight dress and heels that Reggie had no idea how she could dance in, and the perfect amount of highlighter on her face. Her lips were all wet and shiny looking from her sparkly lipgloss, and Reggie tried not to think about how kissable they looked.
"You look really pretty," he blurted out, which wasn't anywhere close to his usual over the top cheer squad pep-talks.
Except Carrie didn't seem put out at all. Instead she was staring at his eyes, his eyeliner. "You do too."
Behind him, he heard Flynn and Julie high five, and he couldn't even be mad about it. Maybe if tonight went well, he wouldn't have to play fake boyfriend to Carrie anymore.

Thank You, Jerry~ Part 6
Luke Patterson x Alive!Reader Series
Tumblr media
Summary: After getting an afternoon free from the band, Luke decides to see his parents, only to find out something he wasn’t expecting.
A/N: Surprise! Guys, guys, guys, it’s over! Listen, I enjoyed writing this series, but it brought me WAAAAY more stress than it should have because it lined up perfectly with my writers slump. I wanted to write more for it, but I pushed this for almost two years and it was baaaaad. I might write an epilogue for it to tie up lose ends and thoughts, but I’m not promising anything because who knows how when that could be out.
I am also trying something new with tags! I am so tired of adding taglists at the bottom of fics, so I made a taglist blog and it is @updates-from-elle and the idea is if you want to be tagged in fics, you follow that account and turn on notifications. I’m going to use it for this blog as well as my doctor who blog, so you would get notifs for both, just focus on the ones you want to read! That should be it! Hope you enjoy!

Part 6: Where do we go from here?
---
Luke’s mind was racing as he sits in his friend’s silence, each of them processing everything Luke had told them about you and being Jerry. When he came back to the studio less than an hour ago, he knew he had to tell them everything, especially since he had disappeared for a whole day.
“This whole time you were lying to her?” Alex mumbles, bouncing his leg and chewing on his nail. Luke wasn’t proud of himself, but he nods.
“I was going to tell her.” He tries to defend but his friends all give him different looks of disbelief. Luke slumps back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest with a pout. “Eventually.” He mutters and Julie throws her arms in the air.
She reaches for her phone on the table in front of everyone. “What are you doing?” Reggie asks, peaking over her shoulder as she searches through her contacts.
“Calling Y/N. Luke is going to explain everything to her.”
Luke’s eyes bug out of his head as he leaps across the table, snatching Julie’s phone out of her hand and holding it out of her reach.
“Give me my phone back!”
“No!” Luke’s desperate plea is ignored as Alex plucks the phone out of his hand and tosses it to the girl. “No, no, no, wait please- Don’t call Y/N, she’ll hate me!”
“She’ll get over it.” Julie says and taps the phone icon next to your name, hearing the little rings as she fakes a smile.
Alex and Reggie are holding Luke back from grabbing the phone again and Luke doesn’t know what to say until he shuts his eyes tight and shouts, “I’m in love with her!” The room falls quiet again and the only sound to be heard is Julie’s phone playing out your voicemail. Julie hangs up and Alex and Reggie’s hold on Luke disappear. They all take their seats once more, each in shock by Luke’s declaration, including the guitarist himself. Luke takes a shaky breath. “I know that I messed up.” He finally says, voice quiet and unsure of himself. “And I need to fix it.”
Luke was thankful your call went to voicemail. He needed to make things right, but he needed more time than this.
---
This was bad. This was really bad.
It’s been 5 days since Luke had last seen you. 4 days since Luke was ready to tell you everything. 3 days since Luke started to get worried. 2 days since you last left Julie on read and sent her to voicemail. And 1 day since Luke first popped into your house when he had time between rehearsals at a time you and your dad typically eat dinner, only to see your dad eating at the table alone.
He didn’t want to assume anything happened, but he only had a few minutes to check on you. He hadn’t seen your truck in your driveway for a few days, and neither Julie or Flynn had seen it at school. He went into your room a few times today, looking for any sign of you, but besides how freakishly clean your room is for you, he’s seen nothing.
“I’m telling you,” Luke groans, throwing himself on the couch, “something happened to her. I know it.”
“I’m sure she’s fine.” Julie tells him, smacking his feet off the couch and taking their spot. “She’s probably just out busy or something.”
“And ignoring her best friends?” Luke asks, giving her a look that tells her he already knows the answer.
Julie’s quiet for a moment until she starts playing with the hem of her coat. “Well, there could be another reason.”
Luke furrows his brows for a moment, trying to figure out what she was talking about until it hits him. Before Julie can even call out his name, Luke disappears, reappearing in your bedroom. He looks everywhere, going through your desk, bedside table, even opening your closet.
A lot of your clothes were missing, and your suitcase which you kept on a shelf at the top was gone. You were gone. He throws the door closed, pacing back and forth as he tries to think of some reason, of any reason, why you’d leave and where you’d go. He stands in front of your photo wall, eyes darting back and forth until Luke notices something very obvious and very depressing. Every photo of you had of the band and you and the little scraps of paper you hung up for Jerry was gone. He runs his hand over where they used to be. He tugs on the leftover pinned corners of the photos and notes. Not only were they gone, they were torn from the wall.
Luke’s stomach falls.
You knew.
You knew everything.
And now you were gone.
---
Luke didn’t think he was at your house for that long, but he collapsed on the bed, staring up at the ceiling he knew all too well as his tears dry on his cheeks. He didn’t hate that you knew. Secretly, he believes he was glad you knew, that he didn’t have to keep this a secret for any longer. But he hated that you found out on your own. He hated that he kept it a secret for months and you found out by yourself, probably believing you were lied to by all your friends. You were actively ignoring Julie, you didn’t say anything to the band, and you were just… gone.
The front door bell rings a few times as Luke sits up, knowing he should probably get going. Your dad opens the door as Julie stands there with a smile. “Can I help you?” Your dad asks, holding the door unknowingly wide enough for Julie to see Luke appear over his shoulder, his eyes red and puffy.
“Hi.” Julie sighs before looking back at your dad, “um, sorry. I’m friends with Y/N,” Your dad takes a deep breath and sighs. “I just haven’t seen her at school in a while and she’s not answering her phone. I just wanted to make sure she’s okay.”
“Julie, right?” Your dad asks and Julie smiles and nods. “Y/N talks about you all the time, I knew I recognized you from her wall.” He rubs his face before sticking his hands in his pockets and leaning against the door frame. “She’s fine. She uh, she decided she was going to go live with her mom for a while.”
“Her mom?” Luke pulls a face at your dad’s answer. You wouldn’t go live with your mom just because you found out the truth, would you?
“Her mom?” Julie repeats Luke’s question, hoping to get a bit more out of the adult. He nods, the smile he forces on his face was fake as Julie can see how sad the thought made him. “Um, thank you. If you talk to her, do you think you ask her to call me back?” Julie asks and your dad nods before seeing Julie off.
Luke joins her side only seconds after the front door closes. “She knows.” He says, making Julie jump as she walks. “She tore all of our pictures off the wall.”
“Maybe it was an accident.” Julie tries but Luke was unimpressed.
“An accident that only resulted in our pictures being gone and thrown in the trash?”
Julie stops walking with a frown. “She threw them in the trash?”
Luke shrugs. “I don’t know, I never found them.”
“So maybe she kept them.”
“I don’t know! But I do know one thing.”
Julie looks at Luke, her brows pulling together in wonder before her face falls. “Oh, please don’t tell me you’re going to-”
“I’m going to go see Y/N.”
---
Julie was calling you again.
You hit deny before powering off your phone, falling back in the sunflower field you were sat in. You just needed time. Living with your mom again was the last thing you wanted to do, but you only slept at her house and chose to spend your days here in the field or around the town. You just couldn’t be home with your friends right now. Julie most likely had no idea Luke was Jerry when you were telling her about him, but there was no way she didn’t know they were ghosts.
You were so lost in your thoughts as you watched the clouds dance through the sky that you didn’t hear the footsteps coming your way before a shadow falls over your face. “Hey.” You sit up a little, leaning on your elbows to look up at the girl standing in front of you, someone you hadn’t seen since before you moved with your dad. Kendall smiles down at you. “My mom thought she saw you out here in our flowers yesterday.”
You didn’t know what to say. She ignores you for months, hanging out with her new friends and thinks she can just show up while you’re struggling through things and pretend to be friends again.
At your silence, Kendall huffs. “Look, I don’t know what’s been going on with you lately since you moved, but you’re still my best friend. We went from texting or calling every day to whatever this is where I haven’t heard from you in weeks! And-and when I do, it’s like you’re not even you!” You stare at her, your lips part as you release a shaky breath because you had no idea what she was talking about. She picks at the flower in front of her, refusing to meet your eyes. “I miss my best friend.”
“I texted you.” you whisper, hearing your voice crack from its first use in a few days. Kendall meets your eyes. “I texted you and I called you and you sent me to voicemail.”
“What?” She gasps, taking a seat next to you. “No, I didn’t. I texted you every day for weeks and you ignored me.”
You shake your head and pull out your phone, scrolling through the unanswered messages from you to Kendall. What surprises you is when Kendall hands you her phone and shows you the same. Hundreds of text messages and outgoing calls from her to you that you never got. Kendall and you were beginning to put two and two together.
“Wait, show me my contact.” Kendall says and you show her phone number, nothing weird on your end. “Call me.” You do so, hearing the phone go to voicemail, but nothing pops up on Kendall’s phone.
You tilt your head, drawing your lip between your teeth before asking her to show you yours. You read the number on the phone before closing your eyes. “That’s not my number.”
Kendall’s quiet for a moment. “When was the last time I texted you?”
“Um, I don’t know.” You say and start scrolling through your texts. “I think the last time I saw anything from you was a few months ago and you left me on read because you were at Meredith’s party.”
“Meredith borrowed my phone.” Kendall whispered. Within just a few seconds, Kendall and you find your phone number sitting in Kendall’s blocked contacts.
“She blocked me.”
“That bitch.”
Your eyes widen. “Wait, you don’t like her?”
Kendall huffs out a laugh. “Like her? I hate her! She literally made your life hell.
“Then why were you hanging out with her and going to her parties?”
Kendall starts blushing as she avoids your eye contact. “Because she’s friends with Bailey. And Bailey is hot.”
Your mouth drops open in amusement. Leave it to Kendall to only hang out with your enemy for a cute girl. You start laughing, feeling immense relief that even after everything is over, you’d still always have her. Kendall slowly joins you in laughing, bumping her shoulder with yours as you both lay back in the sunflower field, enjoying being together once again.
When the laughter stops, Kendall speaks up. “Why did you come back?” She’s not mad that you’re here, you being here just made this one of the best days she’s had in a while, but she is confused. “I thought you’d never willingly choose to live with your mom again.”
You sigh, breathing out a laugh through your nose before you tell Kendall everything. Every little thing from moving into the new house, meeting Jerry, meeting Julie and the boys, getting to know Luke, and most importantly, being lied to by him.
Kendall doesn’t know what to say and her silence is scaring you a little. Finally, she takes the bag she was carrying and smacks you in the arm with it, repeatedly.
“Ow!” you say although she wasn’t truly hurting you.
“I’m sorry, but are you stupid?” She says and you push her away jokingly. “Y/N. It’s so obvious that you’re in love with him.”
“He lied to me, Kay. He’s still lying to me. How can I be sure he wo-”
“So, talk to him.” She interrupts you, grabbing your hand. “Look, what he did sounds stupid and awful and I don’t doubt you would love to ignore him and your new friends and never have to deal with the problem.” She knows you very well. “But I also know that those feelings you have for him aren’t going to go away and you are just going to eat yourself up inside until you figure out why he did what he did. I’m sure for some reason or another, Luke had a reason to pretend to be Jerry.” You know she has a point. And you know that this can’t just be a problem you push aside and ignore, just like the problem you thought you had with Kendall. Your phone buzzes on your lap, Julie’s contact lighting up the screen as Kendall and you sit up. She squeezes your hand one last time. “Talk to them. Then, come over to my place. You’re staying the night with me and not your mom.”
You watch as Kendall gets up and walks away, leaving you in the sunflower field with Julie’s call still ringing. With a final sigh, you answer the phone.
---
Luke was pacing back and forth in the studio, waiting for Julie to get off the phone call. The door finally opens and Julie steps inside. Luke jumps her way, followed by Alex and Reggie who were all worriedly waiting to find out what exactly is going to happen.
Julie glares at Luke before nodding and relaxing her shoulders. “She wants to talk to you.”
Luke’s legs almost give out in relief. “Is she still on the phone?”
Julie shakes her head. “She wants you to go to her. She said she’s in ‘her spot’, and that you’d understand what that meant.”
Luke’s face lit up almost immediately. He knew exactly what that meant. You were in the sunflower field.
“Wait, wait, wait.” Alex interrupts Luke’s happiness. “How are you going to get there? It’s not like you can poof there, you don’t really know exactly where she is, right?”
Alex had a point, but Luke knew he had to go. He had at least known the town you lived in, finding a sunflower field after that couldn’t be that hard, could it?
He smirks to all his friend and jumps a few times on his feet. “Wish me luck.”
The three of his friends all exchange different forms of worried glances before shouting ‘good luck’ before Luke is gone.
“He’s not going to find her, is he?” Reggie asks, crossing his arms in front of his chest. Alex claps him on the back before throwing his arm over the bassists shoulder.
“He’ll be lucky if he finds the town correctly.” The blond says and all three of them chuckle at their friend’s eager departure, yet happy to believe everything will be alright.
As long as Luke can find you.
---
Luke found the town, he had barely a problem there, the only real problem was the town was a lot bigger than he expected. He should have asked Julie to look up the sunflower field on her phone before he left. He didn’t even have a phone. He didn’t even know how to find or use a computer enough to even look for the sunflower field. Why couldn’t you have been somewhere easier to find? Like the town hall in front of Luke. Or that coffee shop right next to the town hall. Or with Kendall, who is walking into the coffee shop.
Luke’s eyes practically bug out of his head when he recognizes Kendall and he’s quick on his feet to follow after her with a smile. She was ordering when he pushes open the door, making the bell ring hard above the door. A lot of people jump at Luke’s arrival, including Kendall, as they all look his way but quickly gets back to their own conversations. Except Kendall. She looks away from Luke for the briefest of seconds before her eyes are locked onto him again and wide.
“You.” Kendall says, pointing at Luke and Luke’s smile quickly falls when he sees her frown and eyes narrow.
Luke’s words are rushed. “Where’s the field?”
Kendall is closer, her pointed finger almost pushing into his chest. “You!”
“Kendall!” He puts his hands in the air, taking a few steps back until he’s pressed again the door behind him. He almost yells.  “The field!”
“Behind my house!” She yells back but doesn’t move from her position. “But you go and you make things right and you apologize for breaking my best friends’ heart and you promise to never ever do it again or I will find you and I will make sure your ghost butt stays dead.”
“I will.” Luke promises her and Kendall’s hand falls a few seconds later and Luke can finally step away from the door, relief flooding through him.
“Good.” She nods.
The two of them stand in awkward silence for a moment before Luke clears his throat. “So uh, you know then? Abo-about everything?”
Kendall lets out a soft laugh before nodding. “You really messed up. Go fix it.”
Luke didn’t need to be told twice.
---
After getting the exact directions from Kendall, Luke was standing in front of the Sunflower field, knowing you were somewhere amongst the flowers. He closes his eyes before starting through the field, looking for you.
He can see your head, poking up amongst the flowers. You were pacing back and forth, barely as tall as the flowers around you. Luke just watches for a moment, unsure what exactly he is going to say until your eyes flicker up, finding his surprisingly fast.
Your breath stills in your throat and you want to look away so you don’t give away how much seeing Luke and knowing the truth hurts you, but you can’t. Instead, you remain eye locked with him as he slowly comes closer, gently pushing aside the flowers to get by.
You can’t make yourself say anything as Luke stops in front of you, his eyes softly locked onto yours. “Hi.” He manages to breathe out but you stay silent. His fingers twitch as he fights his desire to touch you, to take your hand in his and hug you or do anything to beg for your forgiveness. Instead, he simply stares at you, wishing he put a little more thought into what he was going to say instead of leaving without thinking.
Luke could feel the tears begin to build in his eyes, “I messed up. I messed up so badly and I shouldn’t have lied to you. I should have- I should have said something, told you the truth, told you anything. And I didn’t. I’m so sorry.”
It hurt to look at him. It hurt to be close to him. You wanted to yell at him, to put space between you both, to show him how much it hurt you to know everything was a lie.
But you couldn’t.
In fact, you did the opposite.
Instead of yelling, you close the distance. Your chests meet as your hand fall on the back on his neck, pulling his lips into yours. Luke grips your waist, scared he was imagining it all, that he could let go and you’d slip through his fingers.
Time stopped in the small sunflower field as Luke and you lose yourselves in the kiss, gently pulling each other closer than you had ever been and loving every second of it.
When time moves again, your forehead rests on his, your eyes and his were closed as you wiped away a tear falling down your cheek. “I wanted to hate you.” you finally say, your voice was quiet and broke with your words. “I wanted to hate you so much.” Luke couldn’t bring himself to open his eyes as he pressed his forehead against yours, no longer fighting his tears and resorts to wiping them as well. “I trusted you and you lied to me and you kept lying to me.”
“Y/N-“ he finally speaks but you shake your head and pull away.
You meet his eyes and barely muster a smile. “But I can’t hate you.”
Relief floods Luke’s body as he releases a breath and blinks away his tears. His hand finds your cheek and his thumb drags across the wet streak on your skin. You lean into his touch and your eyes flutter close for the briefest of moments. “I love you.” You say, placing your hand onto his. “And it doesn’t matter if you were Jerry or Luke, I think I loved you as both.”
Luke doesn’t know what to say, there’s only one thing he can say. “I love you too. I have for months now, and I didn’t know what to do about it.” He knows no matter how great, how amazing and perfect this moment is, he needs to explain himself. You deserve that.
And so, as the two of you lay down on the sunflower field and watch the sky fade from a bright blue lit up by the sun to a dark blue illuminated by the stars, you listened to Luke explain everything. He started with everything about meeting you and the months since then and about Jerry. You listened closely, not wanting to interrupt Luke as he played with your fingers, apologizing every so often when he imagines how you must have felt.
After a while, the two of you run out of words to say. You’ve moved closer to each other, Luke’s arm was stretched out and holding you as you were settled into his side, resting your head on his chest. His hand not wrapped around your body was still playing with your fingers, lacing them through his own as he smiles.
“I never thought I would see this.” He whispers, more to himself but with your closeness, you hear it. You hum and squeeze his hand before he returns the gesture along with a kiss on the top of your head. “So where do we go from here?”
Luke’s question catches you off guard. To be honest, you weren’t sure. You both knew he had a long way to go before he earns your complete forgiveness, but he would spend the rest of his afterlife trying. That wasn’t the only problem, however. He is a ghost, you are alive. You could never have a normal relationship, but as you lay here in his arms, you were certain of two things. The first was you didn’t want normal, you just wanted him. The second was you were absolutely in love with him, and it didn’t matter where you both went from here.
As long as you had your Jerry.
As long as you had your Luke.

All Hallow’s Eve (A Stranger At My Gate Drabble)
Tumblr media
summary: A little look at what is, technically, Tessa and Pero’s second Halloween together.
rating: G (though my entire blog and its contents are only for those 18+)
word count: 1.5k (I’m still counting it as a drabble, fight me)
a/n: I started having some Tessa and Pero thoughts on my walk home from work this afternoon, then cranked this out after dinner. It occurred to me that it might be fun to spend just a moment or two with these two today, given the importance of All Hallow’s Eve to their story. Happy Halloween, everyone!

Pero will never admit this out loud, but he secretly loves when Tessa fusses over him. Little touches that show that she cares, like she’s doing now, adjusting the collar of the white shirt that lays under the light blue vest she’d picked out for him.
“Alright, Flynn Rider, gimme your best smolder.”
“I will do no such thing,” he replies evenly, scowling at her.
“Perfect.”
“Hey now,” Pero grumbles, reaching down to tickle her side, “it worked on you, didn’t it?”
Tessa lets out a small shriek and twists away from him.
“Pero, behave. I promised Amie we’d hand out candy at her place while she and Thom take the kids trick-or-treating and we cannot be late.”
“With you in that dress, mi amor?” He cocks an eyebrow at the frilly purple garment that is turning his love into Rapunzel for the evening. “I make no promises.”
___
“Moira make it to Florida okay, Tess?” Henry says as she and Pero fill bowls of candy in her sister’s kitchen.
“She texted me when she landed earlier,” Tessa confirms.
“Tessa said she goes on this trip with her witch friends every All Hallow’s Eve?” Pero asks.
Amie nods.
“And Moira never misses a year when it’s Nancy’s turn to host. The woman takes to South Beach like a spring break co-ed.”
Henry barks out a laugh.
“Remind us, Pero, to tell you one day about the time we had to bail the whole lot of them out of the Miami-Dade County jail when they got booked on disorderly conduct.”
As with every nugget of information Tessa’s family shares with him about Moira, Pero is equally impressed and terrified.
Thom wrangles the kids into the kitchen, their whole family outfitted this year as Toy Story characters. Molly, Toby, and Finn — done up as Bo Peep, Rex, and Woody — rush to give their aunt and uncles hugs before racing out the door, eager to start collecting candy. Thom places a big red cowboy hat onto his wife’s head, completing her Jessie ensemble, and she helps him shuffle out the door sideways so as not to damage his Buzz Lightyear wings.
“Be good until we get back, you crazy kids!” Henry shouts at Tessa and Pero, one hand on Walter’s leash and the other around Martin’s waist. The two of them had decided to go out with the kids this year, wanting the chance to show off their costumes as Blue and Josh after the rain had thwarted everyone’s trick-or-treating plans last year.
Tessa and Pero settle themselves on Amie and Thom’s front stoop. The whole month of October has served as the last round of modern holiday education for Pero, Tessa and the rest of the Walsh family including him in their Halloween traditions as they had those of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and the Fourth of July over the past year. Pumpkins Pero had picked and helped to carve now stood guard on either side of Tessa’s front door. He’s gone on a hayride and wandered his way through a corn maze. He’s watched spooky movies and been the eager beneficiary of Tessa’s return to fall cooking, their house always smelling of pumpkin, cinnamon, apples…
And now, he’s let her dress him up to partake in the tradition of costumes and trick-or-treating, happy to spend a few hours dressed up like that Flynn character from that movie with the long-haired girl with the pretty voice if it means he gets to see Tessa all done up in her lace-edged dress, an innocent pink bow sewn to the neckline between her breasts that makes him think anything but innocent thoughts.
Paper bags with battery-powered tea lights line the driveway and front walk, a collection of carved pumpkins are clustered on either side of the door. The air is cool and crisp, the sky cloudless, the faint smell of fallen leaves on the breeze. The yellow glow of the porch light lets folks know there’s candy to be had at this house, and turns Tessa’s hair appropriately golden.
Slowly, children and families start wandering up. There are a few costumes he recognizes, classics like vampires and ghosts, a number of tiny witches to whom Tessa gives a little extra candy, characters from that movie The Wizard of Oz that Tessa loves so much. There are plenty of others he doesn’t — a lot of young girls are going as Ms. Marvel this year, and many teenagers and grown women are the Scarlet Witch. Tessa coos over a young boy dressed as the Mandalorian (who, she insists, Pero is a dead ringer for, even if he doesn’t see it), who comes up to get candy along with his Jack Russell terrier dressed as Grogu.
Some of the children eye Pero with trepidation, the inherent spookiness of the holiday and the shadows cast by the porch light making him look even more intimidating than usual. But then a girl of about five dressed in an absolutely precious Rapunzel gown of her own approaches them, and Tessa and Pero can see the look on her face change when she realizes who they’re dressed as.
“You’re Flynn Rider!” she squeals, then marches straight up to Pero to loudly whisper in his ear, “You’re my favorite Disney prince.”
Pero has had enough practice at playing pretend with Tessa’s niece and nephews that he’s able to get over his surprise and muster up a suitable reaction.
“Thank you, princesa,” he says, giving the girl a courtly little bow from where he sits. He drops an extra large handful of candy into her bag with a wink, and she practically sprints back down the drive to her waiting parents, loudly telling them how Flynn Rider and Rapunzel live at that house.
Tessa giggles next to him and leans her head on his shoulder, murmuring something about how she knew Flynn would be a great costume for him. But Pero is lost in thought, the mirror image of this scenario playing out in his head, in which he and Tessa are the ones standing at the end of the drive, and the little girl in the princess dress running excitedly to meet them is theirs.
———
Once they’re home, Tessa plops their doggy bag of leftover candy down on the counter and goes to get herself a glass of water. Pero unlaces his boots, tugging them off and placing them on the mat. There are so many places for his things now in the house, so many reminders in every room that this place is theirs, not just Tessa’s alone.
When he straightens again and looks to her she’s gazing out the window over the sink, the one that in the daylight offers a view of the woods that conceal the Gate in their depths. Pero makes his way over to her and wraps his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on top of her head.
“You are thinking very loudly, angel.”
Tessa sighs, but it’s a contented sound.
“I was just remembering…it was a year ago tonight.”
Pero hums.
“I’ve been thinking about it, too.”
Tessa turns in his arms, resting her hands on his chest.
“You left quite a first impression that evening.”
Pero grimaces, imagining the way he must have looked, wet, injured, unkempt, unconscious, Tessa and Henry literally dragging him into the house that first night to take care of him.
“You were quite a surprise too, you know,” he tells her.
“Oh yes? What was it exactly?” She teases him gently. “My house full of magical gadgets? My inability to understand any of your languages? My absolutely incredible grilled cheese sandwich-making skills?”
Pero shakes his head, brushing the tip of his nose against Tessa’s.
“You were so kind to me,” he murmurs. “So kind when you had no reason to be. And you weren’t afraid.” He says it like he still can’t quite believe it.
“Of you? Never.” Tessa curls her fingers into his shirt. “You were mine, right from the start, even if it took me a while to realize it. And I was yours.”
A year. A whole year she’s been his, a whole year they’ve belonged to each other. It’s not enough. Pero wonders if any amount of time ever will be.
He slots his lips over hers and kisses her, loving the way she responds, always meeting him kiss for kiss. Tessa never leaves any room for doubt that she wants him.
She pulls away for a moment, a suggestive glint of mischief in her eye.
“Trick or treat, Pero?”
His answering grin is her only warning before he scoops her up and tosses her over his shoulder, pulling an indignant squawk out of her.
“I think, mi amor,” he says, heading for their bedroom with his prize, “I won’t be satisfied until I’ve tried both.”

Person A & Person B meet at a Halloween Bonfire Party on the beach / Peterpatter
To Luke, fourteen was a stupid age, especially at Halloween. He was too old to go trick or treating, and too young to get into the good parties, so he wasn't sure what to do with himself. But he knew if he didn't he'd be stuck answering the door with his mom while Hocus Pocus played on the TV.
Hard Pass.
What was worse was that Alex was stuck at some church function and Bobby wanted to spend the evening with his lola watching corny specials and stealing snack sized candy bars while waiting for kids. Leaving Luke with no plans and no friends to pass the time with.
That's when he heard of a Halloween Bonfire Party happening out at Silver Lake. Open to all as long as you brought your own drinks and s'mores supplies. That sounded way better than suffering through his fiftieth showing of The Great Pumpkin.
So Halloween night, Luke threw a bag of marshmallows and some skewers into a bag, plus a six pack of soda. He grabbed his wooly flannel jacket and his guitar last second; the first to stay warm, the second to woo any cute people he met, or maybe jam with some fellow musicians.
A few bus stops later, Luke was at Silver Lake, seeing various fires dot the beach, the smell of smoke and something skunky thick in the air. Luke weaved through the piles of people, avoiding those who looked a little too into partying or outside his age range.
But then, further up the beach he came across a smaller fire with a few teens around it. A guy with long dark hair, angular features, and wearing a crop top. A pretty Latina girl who was locking lips with a girl with insanely long braids. A blonde looking kind of bored as she poked the fire with a long stick.
And there-sitting with an acoustic guitar and sporting a cool leather jacket-was the cutest guy Luke had ever seen.
His skin was pale in the glowing firelight, but Luke could see a few spots of colour blooming on his cheeks as he laughed. He had a mouth full of shiny metal, but it didn't detract from his crooked grin that was devastating even with the braces. Then he noticed Luke and grinned even wider, waving him over.
"Hey! Finally someone else to play with!" The guys said, gesturing to Luke's guitar. "I'm Reggie. This is Willie, Carrie, Flynn, and Julie."
"Luke," he said, sitting next to Reggie and waving to the others. "How'd you guys hear about this?"
"I live right over there," Reggie said, gesturing to the small strip of houses across from the beach. "So I see it every year, figured this year I'd check it out. Invited my friends so I'd have someone to hang with, but it's cool to meet someone new!"
"Yeah," Luke replied, nudging Reggie's shoulder with his own. "It really is. So you wanna play?"
Reggie beamed as he nodded. Luke pulled out his bag of marshmallows and handed them around to the crew as he and Reggie discussed what song to play.
"No Wonderwall," Carrie threatened.
"Or John Denver," Flynn piped up.
"Not even Country Roads?' Reggie pouted.
"Especially Country Roads," Flynn replied.
"When I Come Around?" Luke suggested.
"I'm down with some Green Day," Reggie agreed, strumming his guitar. Willie pulled out a harmonica, with the girls patting their laps to make a beat, and soon enough the group of them were singing song after song as the fire burned low and Luke's bag full of confections emptied.
Luke glanced at his watch and scowled. "Shoot, I gotta go, the last bus home will be here any minute now."
Reggie pouted again and Luke had the strongest urge to kiss it off his lips but restrained himself. "Maybe we could so this again next year? And meet up before then to do a few more songs?"
"I'd like that," Reggie admitted, blushing. He pulled out a notebook and scrawled his number on a page, handing it to Luke. "Call me maybe?"
"Definitely," Luke nodded, rushing off, before doubling back, pressing a fleeting kiss to Reggie's cheek then dashing off again.
Luke was sure he was smiling the entire way home, given how much his face was aching from it by the time he went to bed. But one thing was for sure, he might have a new favourite holiday!

54. At the next inconvenience I will start biting people. - feels like any of the girls... or Alex. Do with that what you will.
Oh gosh you're so right... and this seems like a great way to channel all of my almost finals week frustration...
Willie fumbles for the handle to Julie and Flynn's apartment with his hands full of pastries and drinks he snagged before he finished his shift. Hey, nothing says late-night study session like day-old muffins, right? He finally manages to get the door open and stumbles through the entrance into the kitchen/living area.
Flynn, Reggie, and Alex all look up at his entrance. Julie is still glued to her laptop, Carrie has her eyes shut as she focuses on whatever is playing in her headphones, and Luke... might be asleep.
"I come bearing sustenance," Willie says, their voice coming out a worn-out edition of their usual customer service tone. He sets the drink carriers down on the counter, then drops the bag of pastries beside them. "I make no promises about how edible and/or hot stuff still is, but better than nothing."
"Gimme," Flynn groans, making grabby hands at him from where she's sprawled on the couch, one leg in Julie's lap and the other tucked up to her chest. "But heat it up first, at the next minor inconvenience I'm going to start biting people."
"Kinky," Reggie jokes weakly from where he's sprawled out on the floor, surrounded by papers.
"Not the way I do it," Flynn growls back. "I'm about a millimeter away from egging this professor's house for all the BS she's pulled this quarter."
"Warming up the coffee, got it," Willie cuts in, grabbing Flynn's cup and heading for the microwave. "Love me some minor vandalism, but we should probably save it for after finals."
"Or like after we graduate?" Alex suggests, his pencil thumping out a soft but steady beat against the edge of his textbook. "So they can't screw you over academically?"
"She'd have to catch me first," Flynn points out.
Willie just shrugs and starts handing out drinks as the two of them banter back and forth about the best timeline in which to get revenge on their professors. Luke's goes in the fridge. Reggie downs probably half of his mocha in ten seconds. Flynn takes a long sip of her massive latte and sighs. Willie can almost feel the humanity returning to her system as the caffeine settles. Julie barely even looks up when he sets her tea down on the table. Alex takes his lemonade with a smile and a hand on Willie's wrist to pull them down for a quick kiss.
"How was work?" he asks when they separate.
"Nasty," Willie admits. "Coffee shop near campus the week before finals kind of nasty. Got yelled at by like three people."
Alex winces. "I'm sorry," he offers.
Willie shrugs. "Can't say I blame them. I'm not far off blowing my lid either with Covington's exam coming up."
"If he fails you, I'll get more eggs," Flynn states. "We can get him and mine together."
"You're amazing," Willie tells her gratefully.
"You brought me coffee," she points out.
"Point taken," they laugh.
He returns to the kitchen to grab the bag of pastries and his backpack, then settles in beside Alex, leaning back against the couch near Flynn's hip. They pop open their laptop, gratefully accepting Carrie's offer to plug in the charging cord. Alex shifts a little closer so their shoulders are brushing and Willie leans into it, letting the warmth burn off some of the stress of the day.
Finals suck, but at least they can all do the suckiness together.

“Please.”
“No.”
“Pretty please.” Julie smiled sweetly.
“No.”
“Pretty please with a cherry on top?”
You looked up at her.
“Two cherries? Three. I’ll buy you the biggest milkshake with as many cherries you want.” Julie nodded.
“Or just the milkshake and you stop asking me to go to the Red Barn.” You copied her sweet smile.
“Y/n it’s just one night out, it won’t kill you. All I ask of you is that you come out, get some booze in ya, and have fun for once!”
“I have fun.” You battled.
Julie tilted her head not believing your bullshit.
“I just don’t understand why I need to go!” You exclaimed. “Besides we have that paper due next week.”
“Y/n, it’s Friday!” You flinched hearing Julie exclaim.
“Exactly, enough time to start early on it. Thanks Jules.” You slapped the side of her shoulder with a smile. You closed your locker and walked past her heading to class.
“Y/n we are not done talking about this!” She yelled after you. The bell just now rang over your heads through the coms.
“Oh sorry, can’t hear you. I’m late for class…and allergic to fun.” You motioned to your ear.
“Y/N!” Julie threw her arms up annoyed. “I know where you live, Y/L/N.” She sighed then turned around walking around the corner, flinching upon seeing Luke, Alex and Reggie huddled up together.
“Soo, how’d it go?” Alex sang. Julie groaned and rolled her eyes.
“Your turn.” Julie walked by smacking Luke upside the head as she continued her way down the hallway.
“Ow!” Luke frowned rubbing the spot she hurt him. He looked back at her then back at his boys. “Anyone got any ideas?”
Alex shook his head no, and Reggie…was distracted by his jacket’s zipper. Luke sighed and threw his head back groaning.
He was about to give up when he noticed Flynn walking the opposite way. “Flynn!” He yelled after her, startling the poor girl.
-
You stood with your back against one of the shelves in the library. Your thoughts were lost within the storyline of the book you held in your hand.
“Psst…” You stopped reading your sentence and raised your eyes to look around. After no noise came you shook it off and began reading again.
“Psst…” Okay you definitely weren’t imagining it that time. “Y/n.” A voice rushed out quietly. You looked around until you spotted the familiar braids. You stepped forward eyeing Flynn suspiciously as you met her eyes through the book shelves between you two.
“Flynn?” You emphasized wanting her to get to the point.
“Reason with me.” She began.
“Don’t I always?” You chuckled. She eyed you nervously. “Alright, make your case.” You sighed urging her to begin.
“The Red Barn. Known to be one of the most popular places to hang out. Also, it’s where many musicians or singers in the making get noticed.” She nodded. “Added bonus, there’s cute guys, booze…” Flynn trailed off feeling like she was losing you. “Dancing, um stargazing on the upper level. Best place to be kissed too. Or the stage, where you work your magic and win the hearts of fellow classmates and college boys.” Flynn smirked. You smiled, rolling your eyes at her.
“Or Luke.” She added. You sighed smiling at your feet. “When are you going to tell him, Y/n. He clearly likes you too. It’s just a matter of when.”
“Everything’s just easier with him.” You closed your book shut. “I’m just scared of what will happen if we let this thing between us, ya know happen. I can’t lose my best friend.”
Flynn felt for you, yet she and Julie were fed up playing matchmaker, trying anything to get you two together. So she decided to tell you the truth.
“Ya know, he’s been the one trying to get you to come to the barn.” You perked up at this. “He hasn’t stopped talking about you all day. I’m getting tired of him honestly.” She laughed. “Julie and I are this close to killing him.”
“Julie already tries to though?” You laughed, raising an eyebrow. Flynn stopped then said.
“Then I’ll try then.” She nodded with certainty.
“He really wants me to go, huh?” You smiled up at her. Fond of the thought that he really wanted you around as much as you did him.
“Yeah, so as your friend. I’m saying go tonight, have fun, get drunk, hell kiss Luke already. Do it for our sake please.”
“Our?” You questioned.
“Ow!” You heard Alex groan, now standing to his full height. He looked at Flynn offended, rubbing his head.
“Our.” You nodded understanding.
“Please say you’ll go, I can’t take anymore of Julie and Flynn hitting us.” Alex pleading with you. He leaned closer towards the shelf. “I. Think. I. Have. A. Concussion.” He whispered.
“It’s okay Alex no one will be hitting anyone anymore.” You gave Flynn a pointed look. “I’ll go.”
“YES!” They both cheered.
“Shhh!”
Alex’s eyes widened as he glanced around the library. “Sorry…” He whispered. Then continued to silently cheer.
-
If there was one thing you knew to be certain was that the guys, Julie and Flynn never gave up on you. So when the opportunity to go perform at the Red Barn came up…well let’s just say they were trying everything to get you to go. Which Flynn already did. They, mostly Luke, were hoping you’d go to see them perform, but hopeful enough to get you to sing one of your own songs too.
“What’s she doing now?” Reggie whispered to Alex keeping an eye on you from around the corner. “Like I said five minutes ago, nothing!” Alex sassed. He sighed then said. “She’s writing in her songbook.” The word song made Luke perk up.
“She’s writing a song, no way!” Luke yanked Reggie back and peeked around the wall to see you leaned up against the lockers next to your open one. You were tapping on your book with your pen humming some kind of melody. “You think there’s a chance we’ll still convince her to come tonight?” Luke said keeping his gaze on you.
“Actually she-” Alex began but was cut off by your voice.
“And like I said the last time you guys asked me, no!” You laughed. You turned to the boys, who not so smoothly toppled to the ground. Luke being the first one to jump up and act like they weren’t just talking about you within ear shot. “Seriously?” You raised your brow at him as he approached you, Alex and Reggie following guilty behind him.
“Hey, Y/n you look great, do something with your hair?” Luke leaned an arm on the lockers, his smirk plastered on his lips. He leaned over your shoulder. “Whatcha writing?”
“Your tragic death, I was thinking pickaxe or burned alive?” You pondered.
“Shoot me it’d hurt less than your rejection.” Luke replied cheekily.
“Lucky me then, daddy’s got a shotgun.” You smirked.
“Come on sweetheart, one date with me. Would it really be such a bad thing?” Luke leaned in closer to you. His found interest playing with a strand of your hair.
“Oh my god Luke, it should be my death instead.” You faked being shocked with a smile. “Thanks.” You punched his shoulder playfully.
He shook his head smiling at you. “What can I do to convince you to come out tonight? Everyone’s going.” He bit his lip.
“Mmmm…” You thought about it then gave him a crimson smile.
“No, whatever you’re thinking, no.” Luke straightened up.
“You don’t even know what I was gonna say!”
“Don’t need to, nothing good ever comes from here.” Luke poked the side of your head.
“You literally implied you’d do anything.” You poked his head.
Luke looked away. His head falling with a heavy sigh. “Just tell me already.”
“Where’s the fun in that?” You then looked past his shoulder. “Alex, I need your help with this one.” You smirked at him. He picked up on your look and played along.
-
You placed a hand over your mouth to prevent you from laughing, but to no avail a giggle slipped past your lips. You choked it back when Luke turned his head sharply at you with a death stare.
“S-Sorry. Not funny.” You choked again. “You look um…good.” You giggled.
“Nice legs.” Reggie teased. Luke turned to you.
“I’m gonna kill you.” Luke muttered under his breath.
“Alright here you go, Hannah said we could borrow them, just have to get them back to her before the next game.” Julie walked up to you and Luke, handing him the tinsel-like objects.
“How’d you manage to get her to lend you her pom poms?” Alex asked.
“Tutoring sessions. She owes me.” She replied.
“Alright, Luke, give me an L.” You came out from behind your camera lens.
“I’d rather die.” Luke deadpanned.
“Can’t kill what’s already dead inside.” You smiled. “Come on now like we practiced.” You urged him.
“If this gets outs I swear-” He warned.
“It won’t…” You assured him then leaned over to whisper to Julie. “This is totally going around.”
“Oh yeah.” She laughed along with you.
“Come on now, do it!” You nodded at him.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this…” Luke looked up to the sky then down at his feet.
“G-Give me an L.”
“L.” You all yelled.
“Give me a U.” He said with a fake ass smile.
“U!”
“Give me a K.”
“K!”
“Give an E!” He threw his arm up with the pompom.
“E!” You all looked at each with knowing smiles.
“What does that spell?” He sighed.
“Luke is a dumbass!” You yelled. You snapped the picture seeing Luke’s shocked reaction. “Time to run!” Then you took off running down the track.
“You little sh- Y/N!” Luke yelled, taking after you as fast as the skirt he wore would let him. “Yeah!” Alex laughed. “Wooh!”
“Wooh!” Reggie, Julie, and Flynn cheering and whistling as Luke’s skirt flew up. His boxers on full display. Flynn winced, watching Luke fall then get back up. You were doing a great job dodging him.
“Is Y/N in track?” Flynn asked.
“Nah she’s just used to Luke chasing her.” Julie shrugged it off.
“Makes sense.” She nodded.
The bell then rang catching their attention.
“Come on we have class.” Alex said. They all grabbed their bags.
They stopped and watched Luke fall on his back on the football field. You were still running, but now towards the bleachers where your bag was sitting. You caught up with them, running ahead of them with Luke’s duffle bag in your hand as well.
“Did she just take-” Alex pointed out.
“Go, go!” Julie didn’t even let him finish. She grew scared, ushering everyone forward.
During the last period, Luke walked in now fully dressed in his jeans and white tee. A pissed off look on his face as he flopped into the empty desk next to yours. Your attention was still on the board, yet the smile on your face was clear as day to him.
You bent down to retrieve a pencil then ripped off a sheet of paper from your notebook. Your extended hand caught Luke’s attention. Your focus was still on the math problem written down. You motioned with that hand for him to take it. He sighed and took the items and started writing down the problems on the board.
Luke hardly ever came to class, and usually when he did, he never had anything other than a pencil.
“Thanks.” He whispered,
“Mhmm.” You hummed not even glancing at him.
“So the Red Barn?” He asked again after a few minutes of silence. He wanted to make sure it all worked out.
“I’ve been convinced since free period.” Was all you replied with as you worked the problem out.
“What? How?” You looked over at him.
“Flynn. She made a strong case with supporting reasons and all.” You shrugged.
“You’ve got to kidding me…” He scoffed. “So all that shit I did?”
“Was solemnly for my entertainment.” You smiled up at him.
“Wow!”
“Nice batman boxers by the way.” You chuckled under your breath.
“Shut up.” Luke scowled.
-
Later that night you grew self-conscious as you stepped out of your car and walked up to the actual Red Barn. This being your first time attending one of the band nights they held, you didn’t anticipate the barn really being red. It made you laugh. You finally reached the open barn doors looking at all the people that came to either sing, drink, or dance. You none of the options. Maybe as an observer? You didn’t know. You walked further inside, finding the fairy lights put up a nice touch. Stacks of hay lay against the far walls. Few tables here and there. Some people on the upper level like Flynn said there was. You turned in circles then felt yourself collide with someone. Their arms were sticking out to hold you steady.
“Hey you came!” Luke’s voice filled your ears. You turned and smiled, meeting his eyes.
“Yeah. Look at this place!” You laughed, surprised that you truly were missing out.
“Well, I’m glad you came.” His laughed, nervously looking away from your eyes. His hand slid down interlacing yours with his. You glanced down then smiled gently up at him. Luke then started walking backwards. You reciprocating the stupid smile of his that you loved. “You made it just in time actually. They’re about to start.” Luke led you over to where Flynn and Willie stood on the other side. A beer in Willie’s hand. One in Luke’s too now that you noticed. “Hey guys, look who finally decided to show up!” Luke teased. Letting your hand go to let you hug Flynn, then Willie.
“Hey stranger.” Willie smiled. “Long time no see.”
“Ugh don’t remind me.” You felt bad. It had been a while since you last saw Willie.
“Well, glad to see you nonetheless. You made it just in time, they’re about to start.”
“Yeah, Luke was just mentioning…who’s singing tonight?” You accepted the red solo cup he gave you, and turned your attention to the stage.
“He is.” Luke gestured to the stage, taking a sip of his beer.
“I still got your number and I wonder. What you’re doing tonight. I heard you were hurting but he wasn’t worth it. Well I could’ve told you he wasn’t right…” You gasped, eyes wide as you saw Reggie on stage.
“No way!” You gripped Luke’s arm then continued to look at him sing. His eyes filled with delight as he watched your own lit up from seeing Reg sing.
“Well some buddies of mine. They said you had a big fight in town. You ran off crying. At least that’s what’s going ‘round!” Alex’s drums filing your ears. Julie up there with the two of them. “Know how those rumors fly. Sometimes they’re all a lie.” Reggie sang to the front row of girls. “Burn up before they hit the ground. But right now they’re goin 'round. I don’t wanna move in too soon.” You bobbed your head, raising your hand in the air as you watched your friends take the stage. “I know your heartbreak is brand new. If I never would’ve let you down. This probably wouldn’t be going 'round.”
“Why aren’t you up there with them?” You turned to Luke. His eyes met yours causing a smile to break out on both your faces.
“Cause you aren’t.” He shrugged. Your eyes lingered on his face a little longer than usual. You didn’t ask him about it though, and turned back to watch your friends perform.
“Round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round.” Julie sang out.
“Probably wouldn’t be going 'round.” Reggie then stepped back from the mic, letting Alex take over.
“It might’ve been time. And it might’ve been my bad. But I wanna try again. Another dance. A second chance. If you are in I’d be in.” Alex sang as he hit his drums to the beat.
“Well some buddies of mine. They said you had a big fight in town. You ran off crying. At least that’s what’s going 'round.” Reggie then sang the chorus again. You couldn’t contain your excitement any longer, so you dragged Luke to the dance floor and planted yourself in the front row of the stage. Reggie catching sight of you two.
“Know how those rumors fly. Sometimes they’re all a lie. Burn up before they hit the ground. But right now they’re going 'round.” Reggie knelt down playing his guitar in front of you and Luke. You sang the words with Reggie, having learned them in the short time you did. “I don’t wanna move in too soon. I know your heartbreak is brand new. If I never would’ve let you down. This probably wouldn’t be going 'round.”
You felt a hand wrap around your waist and pulled you back into them. Luke’s front against your back, swaying you both to the rhythm of the song. Luke’s beer in his left, and your red solo cup in your right. Your free hand curling up into his hair, and his holding you tightly against him.
“Probably wouldn’t be going 'round!” You belted out in the air. Luke’s heart fluttered upon hearing your voice. You could feel him smile against your exposed neck.
Julie’s voice mixed well with Reggie’s. The duo you didn’t think would sound so well together, and yet here you thought it was Luke and Julie. But you had to disagree, it was actually Julie and Reggie singing together that was something special. They turned to each other sharing a mic. Reggie smiling down at Julie encouraging her on. “Well some buddies of mine. They said you had a big fight in town. You ran off crying. At least that’s what’s going 'round. Know how those rumors fly. Sometimes they’re all a lie. Burn up before they hit the ground. But right now they’re going 'round. I don’t wanna move in too soon. I know your heartbreak is brand new. If I never would’ve let you down. This probably wouldn’t be going 'round…Probably wouldn’t be going 'round…” Luke let you go as the crowd cheered and applauded them.
You turned around telling him how great they were. He agreed as he guided you back to where Flynn and Willie were.
“Oh my god.” You gestured to Reggie, Alex and Julie as they came over to take a break. Another band was going up now to keep the party going. “You guys…I seriously have no words. Luke finally let you do a country song, huh Reg?” You hit his shoulder playfully.
“He actually helped write it…” He outed his best friend. Luke closed his eyes sighing.
“Really? We agreed not to tell people!” Luke let his arms fall to his side.
“Oh, did he now.” You laughed. “What was it that you said? I’m never doing a country song they’re not my thing?” You teased him.
“He won’t admit it but this genre is starting to grow on him.” Julie added. “But enough about us…you came!” She reached forward bringing you into a hug.
“Thanks to Flynn of course.” Julie directed the credit where it needed to be.
“I could not take another night where she sat in her room and read books.” Flynn shook her head. The group’s faces scrunched up at the embarrassing information Flynn said. “Not in this group, nope. We have fun and go out. Speaking of drinks I need another.” You all laughed as she turned and left.
“Hopefully now Luke will stop bugging us. You finally showed up to one of these. Now, all he needs to do is see you on stage and he’ll die happy.” Julie eyed him. Luke frowned rubbing the back of his nervously.
“I- uh” He stammered.
“What?” You chuckled nervously. Their laughs all died down.
“Luke has something to tell you, Y/n. Luke, you care to elaborate what you did?” Julie gave him a tight lipped smile. It had to come out one way or another.
“Julie-” He warned her, shaking his head. He wasn’t ready yet.
“I don’t like keeping things from her, you know this. Just tell her what you did, you promised!” You looked between the boys and Julie. Flynn came back with another drink and then stepped back slowly with Willie, not wanting to be evolved, even though she was always about any
drama she could get her hands on. You looked back to Luke who stared at his vans full of what looked like guilt. Any fun you were having now was flushed away with anxiety and nerves.
“Luke?” You tilted your head to try and catch his gaze. He finally looked up and took a big swig of his beer. He walked past you and went to retrieve his backpack that lay next to his guitar case. You scoffed once you saw him pull out your songbook.
“My book. You have my book…” You stated firmly. “Why do you have my song book, Luke?”
“Because I wanted to see the song you were working on.” Well at least he didn’t try and sugar coat it. He took a step forward, yet you took a step back. His heart shattering as you moved away from him. “Y/N I-”
“You read my song. A song that was personal to me, Luke. It wasn’t ready. I-I didn’t want anyone, let alone you, seeing it.” Your anxiety began to grow. You had written it about you and Luke’s relationship, or the special thing that just worked between the two of you…and he just read it.
“I finished it.” You stopped and looked at him confused. “You were missing the bridge, Julie worked on it with me. So it wasn’t all me.” He gave Julie an annoyed look for trying to throw him under the bus. “Look, all I ask of you is to go up there and sing it with me.”
“It wasn’t a duet…” You muttered softly.
“It will be once you sing it with me.” He smiled big, noticing your mood start to shift. “You take care of the rest and leave the bridge to me.” He reassured you.
“Why the bridge?” You grew curious.
“Julie!” He panicked and called to her for help.
“Okay, enough questions, get your butt on stage.” She grabbed your hands and tugged you behind her. You threw a glance at Luke who gave you another smile. Then you were out of his sight.
He went to his case and pulled out his acoustic.
“You know what you’re doing?” Alex asked behind him. He was leaning into Willie’s side, wanting to catch a moment with his boyfriend.
“Y-Yeah.” Luke pulled the strap over him and adjusted the guitar. He quickly made sure it was tuned correctly, giving it a strum, letting him know the strings sounded good.
“You got this man.” Reggie patted his back. “You got her here, now you just gotta tell her.”
“Well, actually Flynn was the one who convinced her.” Luke furrowed his brows.
“Yeah but Flynn doesn’t have feelings for her.” Alex teased him. “Come on, we got your back.”
“Like always.” Reggie finished.
“Okay.” Luke shook out his nerves and made his way to the stage. “I-I can do this.” -
“Julie, I don’t think I can do this…” You frowned.
“Hey you got this okay. I’ll be right up front with Flynn and Willie, plus you got the boys up there with you. We got you.” She placed her hands on your shoulders, her words bringing you a certain amount of comfort.
“O-Okay.” You nodded, and recollected yourself. Then you gulped the second you stepped onto the stage. So many faces staring at you, you felt like fainting.
“Alright folks next up we got a performance by…what’s your name darlin’?”
“Uh…Y/n Y/L/N.” You smiled nervously at the guy.
“Give it up for Y/n everybody.” The crowd cheered and clapped.
He walked off as the boys arrived on stage. Alex took his place behind his drum set, and Reggie sat on a stool to your right, and Luke, Luke stood off to your left, standing in front of the mic next to yours. You were scared, nervous mostly. You hadn’t even figured out a melody for the song, and yet Luke saved you the trouble. You just had to sing the words.
You looked over at him, worry featured all over your eyes. Luke only continued to smile and mouthed, ‘You got this’. That’s all it took to feel better.
Luke swung his guitar around and began strumming. Your ears picked out an E minor, C add nine, G, and D chord pattern, along with Alex’s drums filling out for the big moment that just hit nicely. And Reggie, with a steel guitar using a slide playing technique, which was something you didn’t know you wanted to see. Country instruments were his specialty. You just never had the pleasure of actually seeing him play any.
You nodded along to the rhythm and fell into the beat, falling into the first verse.
“They don’t cancel other plans. Have conversations with nothin’ but their eyes. They don’t hear each other’s names and forget to concentrate. Hits a nerve and lights you up like dynamite.” You had your eyes closed as you sang the first lines.
You opened them back up and looked over to Luke as the chorus came. “Friends don’t call you in the middle of the night. Couldn’t even tell you why. They just felt like saying, Hi. Friends don’t stand around, playing with their keys. Finding reasons not to leave. Tryna hide the chemistry.” You let your eyes linger onto his. “Drive a little too slow.”
“Slow.” Luke sang into the mic.
“Take the long way home.”
“Home.” Luke backed you up.
“Get a little too close.”
“Close.” He threw you a smile.
“We do but, but friends don’t.” You shook your head no at the lyrics. You closed your eyes again, taking a big inhale of air, knowing which lyrics were coming up next.. You felt the need to turn your head to Luke as you sang the second verse.
“They don’t almost say, I love you. When they’re downtown somewhere, just a little drunk.” You smiled as you shared a moment together. The crowd ate it up as they watched you two. Alex and Reggie looked at each other knowingly. Julie, Flynn, and Willie, felt the need to capture this on their phones. It was too good not to have it recorded. “They don’t talk about the future and put each other in it and get chills with every accidental touch…” You trailed the words. Your smile only grew, hearing Alex hit his drums for the chorus again. The crowding bobbing their heads and jumping up and down.
“Friends don’t call you in the middle of the night. Couldn’t even tell you why. They just felt like saying, Hi.” You turned to the crowd and waved.  A big grin plastered on your face as you sang. “Friends don’t stand around, playing with their keys. Finding reasons not to leave. Tryna hide the chemistry.” You sang your heart out, pouring your heart out to emphasize the words a little more. “Drive a little too slow.”
“Slow.” Luke sang again. He stepped away from his mic and slowly making his way over to you.
“Take the long way home.”
“Home.” Luke mouthed.
“Get a little too close.” You motioned him closer.
“Close.” He now stood in front of you. You put the mic in between you to share it.
“We do but, but friends don’t.” Luke shook his head no as well. He looked down at his hands changing chords, then you let him take over the bridge.
“I keep telling myself this might be nothing.”
“This might be nothing…” You stared into his eyes echoing back the words to him.
“But one look in your eyes and, God, there’s something.” He nodded at you.
“There’s something.” You nodded.
“You can lie to me and say you don’t.” Luke shook his head. Then nodded yes. “But I know you do…and I love you too!” His words grew quieter towards the end. You breath hitched, you were stunned. Staring at him with widened eyes. Luke swallowed back the nerves he was feeling. Then felt relieved when your smile only grew bigger. You reached your hand up and pressed your foreheads together. Then belted out the chorus one last time.
“Friends don’t call you in the middle of the night. Couldn’t even tell you why. They just felt like saying, Hi. Friends don’t stand around, playing with their keys. Finding reasons not to leave. Tryna hide the chemistry!” Luke pecked your head as you started lifting your head to look at him.
“Drive a little too slow.” You sang.
“Slow.” He echoed you.
“Take the long way home.”
“Home.”
“Get a little too close.”
“Close.”
“We do but, but friends don’t…”
“Friends don’t…” Luke sang out, letting his guitar trail the last note out.
You were pulled out of your daze, turning the crowd with the happiest expression you had. Alex and Reggie stood and bowed. You grabbed Luke’s hand and did the same. You were filled with the utmost joy. The two of you never really did know how to say those three words, but you did in the form of a song. The best way you two know how to communicate.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the unimaginable happened. He pulled you in by the waist, not wasting anymore time and kissed you. The cheers and whistles only added to the effect, but it was your lips pressed against his that felt like fireworks.
Yeah...friends definitely don’t do that.

It was quiet between us as we walked through the hallway. So many questions flew through my head as I walked side by side with Arius. We almost reached my first class when I decided to speak up "Thank you." Arius stopped in his tracks, causing me to stop as well, turning to face him. His blue eyes, stared down at me in confusion, raising a brow as if to ask 'for what?'. I shrugged before continuing to walk forward "Back there with those kids. What you did-" Arius suddenly appeared in front of me, successfully cutting me of as I stumbled back in surprise.
"Let's get one thing straight."
Catching myself on my feet, my (e/c) eyes met his angry blue ones. Pointing a finger at me "I didn't do this for you." Poking me hard in the chest with the same finger, my eyes widened a little, bringing a hand up to rub my chest because it hurt. "I did this for me." Arius' hand turned into a fist sticking his thumb out, he turned his hand so that his thumb was pointing towards him. "I was pissed and needed an outlet." Shoving his hands back into his pants pockets he continued "Besides, your grandmother would be pissed if she knew I just sat by and watched as those pitiful humans talked about you like that." I watched as Arius turned around and continued the trek through the hallway.
Quickly following after him, I managed to catch up "Hey, how did you do that disappearing and reappearing thing?" He glanced over at me "What?" Looking back in front of him, a bored expression on his face, only to disappear. This caused me to stop in my tracks, my eyes darting around the hallway to find any sign of him. Suddenly he reappeared by the door to my classroom, which was a little ways down more. "This?" He asked, I was quick to catch up to the black haired demon.
"Yes that."
I leaned across from him against the door frame, leaning forward a little, as if to move closer so I could hear. This caused me to lean forward as well, an annoyed smile graced his lips "I believe you have a class to get too." He was quick to change the subject, standing back up straight, I was quick to state "You can't just waltz in there and-" the black haired demon swung open the door in front of him, successfully cutting me off. Walking inside, I went to follow, only for the door to come back towards me and almost hit me in the face. Putting my hands out in front of me, I stopped the door, pushing it back open as I walked through.
"Ah, Miss (L/n), how nice of you to join us."
The teacher sarcastically stated, but I paid no mind to her, sending a glare to the back of Arius' head. Asshole. "I was just about to introduce our new student." My eyes drifted over to the teacher in confusion, How the hell does she know about him? Was the question that rattled my brain, my eyes moving back to Arius. He glanced over at me as my eyes moved between the both of them "well? You gonna sit down or just stare?" Shaking my head a bit I found my seat at the back of the room.
"Now then, everyone, this is Damon (L/n)."
Slumping down in my seat I glared at the black haired boy at the front of the room. "He just moved here from Arizona." I glanced around the room only to see most girls fawning over him, some guys fuming with jealousy, and the rest glanced back at me as if silently checking to see if he was actually related to the freak of the school.
As the teacher continued to talk I sat there wondering how he even managed to convince her that he was a new student here. I'll have to ask him about it later. I thought as Arius finally took a seat in the only available spot, which just so happened to be next to me. "What was that about me not being able to walk in here?" A smirk sat on his face as I sent him a glare "Shut up you damn demon." I angrily whispered, not wanting others around us to hear me.
This is gonna be a long day.
♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩👻 ♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩
"Alright so tell me how you were able to do that with the teachers."
Arius raised a brow, deciding to act clueless on the matter. "Do what?" Every class that we've been to he was able to somehow convince the teachers that he was a new student and that he just moved here from Arizona, keeping the same story in each class. At least he's being consistent. Sticking my fork in the pasta that sat in front of me, I lifted it up, taking a bite of pasta I was quick to turn my fork towards him. "Don't fuck with me you damn asshole. Tell me what you did." (e/c) eyes narrowed at him, having already been slowly loosing my patience with Arius.
Letting out a small huff, he ran a hand through his hair, moving it out of his face "Fine. I'll tell you." Leaning forward, his arms sat crossed on top of the table "I-" before he could tell me anything two girls sat down on either side of me, the two of them being none other than Julie and Flynn. "And who might this fine piece of candy be?" Before I could even respond, Arius spoke up for himself.
"Someone who absolutely despises your species. Now fuck off."
Nodding his head off to the side as if shooing her off, his face wearing the same bored expression it has been all day. Flynn's eyes narrowed in anger slamming her hands down on the table as she shot out of her seat "The fuck did you just say to me?!" Arius seemed to find the reaction amusing, a small smirk making its way to his lips "You heard me." Flynn looked to be getting angrier just from his simple response. Rolling my eyes, I was quick to jump in, as to prevent the fight that was bound to happen.
"Don't mind him, he just has a superiority complex."
I stared down the black haired demon across from me, crossing my arms a crossed my chest, narrowing my eyes at him. Arius scoffed, his expression mirroring my own as he responded "And she just suffers from dumbass syndrome." My teeth grit in anger at his statement, only for the corner of his lips to upturn into a smirk, finding this whole thing amusing.
Julie quickly jumped in before the situation could escalate "Enough! Let's just all try to be civil, and not draw attention to ourselves." Julie, Arius and I all expectantly looked over at Flynn who was currently standing up out of her seat and leaning on the table. Some hushed voices could be heard around us but I payed them no mind as I stated "That means sit down Flynn." she seemed to not get the message. Her eyes stayed glued onto Arius, letting out a small huff in anger as she crossed her arms and sat back down on the right side of me.
"So, (Y/n)."
Looking over at Julie who held a forced smile on her face as she gestured towards the rude black haired boy across from me. "Care to explain who this is?" I could tell Julie already didn't like him either, but was trying to play peace keeper so no one would get in trouble. "Who? Him?" Throwing a thumbs over my shoulder in Arius' direction, I shrugged my shoulders, crossing my arms a crossed my chest, resting them on the table "He's just some jackass I met, who now seems to be following me around like a lost puppy." I glanced over at Arius as he shot me a glare. "Not by choice. I can assure you of that." An annoyed tone being heard in his voice.
Rolling my eyes, Flynn the (ever protective) friend she was, decided to question the dark haired demon in front of us "Alright, so then what's your name? And why are you following her around?" His face went from a glare to a bored look as his blue eyes drifted over to look at Flynn. "How about you mind your damn business?" Flynn growled in anger as she shouted at him "You talking to one of my friends is my business jackass!" I felt a small tick in my throat, as a small cough passed my lips, not loud enough for anyone to hear or notice.
Flynn and Arius now being at each others throats, as Julie tried to jump in and keep even a fragment of peace between the two of them. The continuous arguing, mixed with the constant itch in my throat and the slow burning of my right wrist caused me to close my eyes for a quick second. Trying to keep myself together as another cough slipped past my lips, my left hand now gripping my right wrist in pain as I shot out of my seat and headed towards the direction of the bathroom. Ignoring Julie and Flynn calling my name.
My coughs started to get even worse, throwing a hand up over my mouth to try and stop it. I swung open the bathroom door, heading straight for the sink, not bothering to make sure if no one else was there.  Leaning over it, placing my hands on either side of the sink, the stamp and my throat both burning in pain. I could feel the liquid in my mouth from all the coughing, the metallic taste letting me know just what it was. Spitting out the red substance into the sink below me as the coughing slowly died down.
Letting out a few huffs, glancing down in the sink I noticed the blood that slowly sunk down towards the drain "The fuck...?" Looking up at my reflection, I saw some blood dripping down my mouth towards my chin, bringing up my left hand, I wiped it off using the back of the hand. Catching site of the palm of my hand, the smeared patch of blood sitting on it. Glancing down to look at the counter top, a half hand print made of blood sat on top of it.
What the hell is happening to me?
I was quick to wash my hands and rinse down the counter top, not leaving any trace of blood behind. A jolt of pain coursed through my arm, Caleb's crest burning even more, huffing in pain, I shoved my sleeve on my right arm up, throwing a hand over the stamp as if it could ease the pain somehow. Shit. This must be Caleb's doing. I slowly remembered something that Caleb said last night, about Reggie and my time to live. An angry growl arose from the back of my throat "Once I figure out a way to get these stamps off..." I let out a small huff and groaned in pain "I’ll kill Caleb myself." A small cough passed my lips as I backed up and slid down against the wall.
But if I don't figure this out soon...
Looking down at my hand that covered the stamp, teeth grit in pain. I'll end up dying, and Reggie, Luke, and Alex will cease to exist. Narrowing my eyes at the wall below the sinks across from me. No. I have to figure this out. Even if I die trying. I can't let them disappear like this. I won't. I thought all while staring across from me, a determined look in my eyes, not planning on them dying for the second time, anytime soon.
♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩👻 ♪♩♬♩♪♩♬♩♪♩
The rest of lunch went by in a flash. Once I got back, Julie and Flynn were quick to question me about what happened and I just told them that I think I'm getting a cold and that I just had to use the bathroom. Arius gave me a look as if telling me he didn't buy it but didn't say anything. Julie ended up telling me what happened between her and the guys last night as well which caused me to feel a bit bad because I felt as if half of that was my fault, I could've prevented it in a way, but I didn't.
Passing the soccer ball towards Arius with my foot I continued our conversation from earlier "So tell me how you managed to convince the teachers that you are in all of my classes? Did you bribe them or something?" Arius stopped the ball with his foot, stared straight at me all while hitting the ball with his other foot, sending the ball hurdling back towards me.
"No. I used my powers. Only a little bit. I can only use so much on my own."
Stopping the ball I looked up at him "What do you mean 'on your own'? You need someone to help you?" Narrowing his eyes at me as if I somehow offended him he was quick to reply in an annoyed tone "No. I don't need help. What I need is a better connection with my dumbass witch." Sending him a glare I kicked the ball back at him.
"Not just a blood connection to my previous witch either, I need a spiritual connection."
Stopping the ball, he switched feet and sent it back towards me. "Well how the hell are we supposed to get that?" I questioned, an annoyed huff passed through his lips "I've told you a thousand times. You need my respect." I stopped the ball and looked up at him "Once you have that, everything else comes falling into place." Crossing my arms across my chest, I rolled my eyes before narrowing them at him.
"Well how the hell am I supposed to get your respect in the first place?"
I questioned, almost angrily, Arius opened his mouth to say something, only to get cut off by the coach "(L/n)s! Less talking, more passing!" Arius' head shot toward the coach, sending him a stone cold glare. While he was distracted, a smirk graced my lips, I brought my leg back and kicked the ball sending it hurdling towards the side of the dark haired demon's face. Sticking his hand up, catching the ball in it, his glare shifted over to me before reeling his arm back, sending the ball flying towards me. I jumped up and caught the ball with both of my hands bringing it close to my chest.
Arius' held his annoyed look that he always seemed to wear crossed his face "Since when could you catch a ball like that?" Placing the ball on the ground in front of me I answered his question "Since I became a goalie." Backing up a little to get a good angle on the pass, I stared down at the ball "So, since I was about..." looking up at Arius, I ran forward, passing the ball towards him "Four or so." Stopping the ball with his foot, Arius was quiet as he sent the ball back towards me.
I was quick to pass it back only for him to ask the question I didn't want to hear. "So are you going to tell me the truth about what happened back in the cafeteria?" He stopped the ball and waited for my response, I stared at him, debating what I was going to say. I opened my mouth to respond "I-" a loud whistle noise grabbed everyone's attention.
"Alright, leave the balls there and come over to me!"
I glanced at Arius for a quick second, noticing the serious stare he was giving me, already knowing that something is going on, no doubt. Not wanting to have this conversation, I decided to run off and see what the coach wanted, avoiding the conversation all together. All while an annoyed Arius yelled.
"I'm gonna find out wether you like it or not!"

Remember like....oh god four months ago??? When @look-at-those-niceass-rocks and I had some unhinged things to say about Julie and the Phantoms? Well, our schedules finally lined up again and we have more unhinged things to say! Once again nearly a week after we watched!!! We made it through 4-7, please enjoy
Bee: Y'know, when he (Trevor) said "meditate", I expected him to get tweaked out of his fucking gourd Me: ...Ah, first thing for the quotes list Bee: He looks like he doesn't vaccinate his children
*two minutes of haunting later* Bee: No I've changed my mind; he has to be high, he's not reacting correctly to that
We both commented on how Savannah Lee May (Carrie) looked simultaneously fourteen and thirty, but was 20 when the show released (around 19 during filming)
Me: How does it feel knowing she's a year older than me? Bee: *forcibly remembering we have an age gap friendship* I love it soooooooo much
Caleb: where do we go when that final light is snuffed out? Bee: Hell, I hope
Caleb: If you'll forgive me fellas, I gotta go pay the bills, if you know what I'm saying Bee: if he wasn't dead, I'd assume he meant cocaine Me: I mean it could still be cocaine Bee: ...ghost cocaine
Bee: homosexual ghost makes a valid point
Me: I love how women weren't working so he (Caleb) sent men to Alex Bee: I know what you are! Me: He's an equal opportunity cult leader!
Julie: *Lecturing the boys on letting her down* Me: No she's right Bee: Yeah, let her cook! Me: *dead silence* Bee: That's. That is what the kids say? Me: Sometimes I forget about our age gap, and sometimes I become painfully aware of it Bee: I'M DOING MY BEST OKAY
(after deciding to stop for the night after episode seven) Me: That'll give us a good stopping point, because the last two episode Hurt Bee: Oh good, emotional trauma!
(about Ray Molina) Bee: Look at his forearms, he's a slut! Me: I mean, yeah! Also, I blame you fully for this newfound type of mine (muffled voice in the background) Bee: [Husband] just yelled from the other room asking if I was alright
Willie: *gets caught spying in the garage* Bee: That wasn't even sneaky! That was his whole-ass head! With a helmet! Me: Not the ass head Bee: Motherfucker Me: Weird way to say butt face Bee: ...ass butt
Me: Flynn is really pushing this corpse thing Bee: I wish I could remember my little corpse song
(following "Girls, amiright?" "No!") Bee: He a little confused, but he got the spirit Me: He is a spirit! Bee: Fuck you Me: :(
Me: That was his (Jeremy Shada's) actual reaction, because that little kissy thing was unscripted Bee: Oh I believe that, I just watched all thoughts leave his brain
(honorable mention: rewatching that scene at least three times to laugh at Reggie's face)
Luke: (singing) It's never straight-

Major: Childhood Education
Minor: Music Composition
Was on the hockey team freshman and sophomore year, but quit once his band started getting booked
Can't y'all just see him as the cutest little elementary school music teacher like showing his students his guitar and talking about when he was in a band awww
Luke and Alex definitely have a shared house off-campus and they like throw parties like it's nobody's business
Definitely tried to join Alex's comic book club, but was quickly kicked out because he spilled soda on Reggie's collector's edition of the original Spiderman comics
"Dude, do you know how expensive this was? Like, for real?"
Luke is definitely known as somewhat of a player around campus and pretty much everyone knows who he is. He can usually be found with his tongue down a random girls throat
But, that's what college is about for him duh
He never wanted to go in the first place, but when his parents put that check in his lap to send him to school what else could he do? Especially when his buddy, Bobby, told him about all the hot chicks running around campus
So how do you meet Mr. Luke? Well, you were couped up in the library preparing for this god awful Bio final that has been stressing you to the point of pulling your hair out when you hear some.... children's laughter???
You look to the main double-door entrance and see a gaggle of children that can't be more than 5 or 6 years old barreling through the doors
And what shocked you most was... Luke Patterson leading this wild pack of children into the building??? I guess you had just never taken interest in what his major is or really anything about him, so you couldn't be too sure what his intentions were
A quiet Luke puts up a finger to his lips and begins counting down from 10, attempting to shush the kids he was directing
"Hey guys, can we quiet down please, we can't be too loud in the library! shhhhh"
And you're like is he soft? and good with kids? Definitely not soft (or so you think right now hehe), but he is great with kids
The kids are shuffling around the library, giggling at the pages in the anatomy books while Luke sits at a nearby table
"Are they bothering you? I knew it was a bad idea to bring them here, but I-I-It's about to rain... had no idea where else to take them..."
And you're just like huh? Because one, why is he talking to you, and two, this is not the same douchebag player you thought you knew. But, you end up telling him that they're fine and you continued studying until your roommate, Julie, asked if you wanted to meet up for dinner
You don't end up seeing Luke for a while after the first meet, and you had long let him disappear from your thoughts
That is until your friend Flynn decides to drag you to a party to "celebrate" finals being over (Even though you'd rather be couped up in your room rewatching Scooby Doo if you were being honest)
The house wasn't anything too crazy, donned with LED lights and some old beer cans strewn across the porch
You had been drinking with Flynn for a while, the fresh smell of marijuana and vomit stinging your nose as you waltzed around the house
Your bladder quickly caught up with you, though, as you excused yourself from Flynn for a second to find a pisser because you know you can't hold your pee while you're drunk
So, you're bobbing around sticking your head into pretty much every single room when you finally come across a door at the end of the hallway
You turn the door handle, astonished to find it unlocked, but you let yourself in and...
There's Luke... hands under a tiny blonde girl's shirt as he kissed up and down her neck
"Oh my god, I can... I am so sorry let me just go!"
You shout almost too eager as you swiftly slam the door and make your way back downstairs, ready to tell Flynn the shit you just walked into
But, alas, your friend is sitting on the couch with Reggie, one of Luke's closest friends, you've come to find out so you averted your attention to the kitchen
It was quiet in here, other than the small bits of banter going on around you in the almost empty kitchen
You stared into your cup of whatever concoction Flynn had made you when you're startled by a sudden presence to your left
"Hey, you're the girl from the library right? Sorry about uhhh... the bathroom sitch.... just doing my civil duty haha"
Luke slurred out as he hoisted himself onto the kitchen counter beside you
You nod your head, not really trying to engage with his "type"
"You wanna dance? Everyone else here is so boring..."
You and Luke head out to the living where masses of people were dancing along to whatever rap song was blaring over the speaker
Luke instinctively holds you by the waist as you sway the entire night, especially when you sway to his bedroom and then to his bed and then.... you get the picture
And Luke took care of you that night, kissing your shoulders, looking into your eyes as he kissed up your stomach bro omg I am getting ahead of myself
But, anyways, you wake up and immediately feel TONED HANDSOME arms around your waist and you're like??? because this is definitely not your bed and who is this man?
Your eyes peak out over the covers and you have the biggest "oh fuck" moment of your life because YOU JUST SLEPT WITH LUKE PATTERSON
So, without thinking you swiftly jump up out of bed and search around his room for your clothes, but not before you're interrupted by a groan and a yawn coming from the bed
"Shit..."
You mutter under your breath as Luke peers at you through hooded lids
When did he become so beautiful and why the hell hadn't you realized until now??
"Good morning to you too... You're leaving already? Didn't enjoy the show?"
He wiggles his eyebrows at you are you're like oh... my... god I gotta get out of here so you scurry off without much of a goodbye, but not before Luke puts his number into your phone
This goes on for a while, you sneaking over to his house, sleeping in his bed, waking up in his arms, and then spending the morning talking and eating breakfast. But, no lovely-dovey shit... ever
It had become somewhat of a routine, but for Luke, this wasn't normal
He'd sleep with a girl a few times, but then ditch her before things could get too serious
But now he's got himself a drawer of your clothes, and your smile embedded in his brain
So you're over this one time and you both had woken up rather sleepy due to the events of the prior night hehehehe
And Luke is just staring at you so lovingly and it was different than any way he had looked at you before
And he just instinctively wraps you in his arms and spoons you
You're like
"Luke, didn't we say that cuddling was off the table if we're awake? We're not like together, remember?"
And he freezes and is like
"We're together. We sleep together, we spend the mornings together, we are quite literally the definition of together..."
Aww he just chews on his thumb and looks up at you through his eyelashes and just kisses you
You and Luke are the couple that literally everyone is digusted with
He constantly needs to be touching you and will literally wait outside your classes so he can flash you that geeky smile and chuckle while holding out some food or coffee
He just wants to take care of you in all ways possible
Finally lets you come to one of his band practices and everyone is like
"Wow you're significant other is so cool, Luke!"
And he just gets antsy and is like yeah I know now leave them alone before I get jealous hehehe
Such a jealous boyfriend and sometimes you have to remind him how much you love him and he can get really insecure but he finds that comfort in you
Practically thinks you are gold and literally nothing in this world could compare to you

one giving the other their jacket / covering them with it when they fall asleep + Rulie
Also tagging @innytoes, who asked for the same prompt!
Reggie shoulders his way through the sorority house with his heart hammering in his ears. It could be the bass—but he wouldn't bet on it.
The cacophony had started when he'd realized that Julie wasn't with Flynn.
He finally spies her wild mass of curls between the banisters of the stairs and leaps over the couple sitting at the bottom, deaf to their indignant cries.
Some hulking asshole is leaning right up in her face, all but pinning her to the wall, but her eyes slide over to Reggie before anyone can do something stupid, and she visibly melts with relief.
"Reggie!"
As soon as the asshole crowding her turns around, she stumbles past him and crashes right into Reggie’s chest, tucking her head under his chin and her arms into his jacket. Reggie's arms come around her easily, automatically, and she sighs, snuggling into him.
"Figures," the asshole mumbles, shoulder checking them as he passes for good measure, which makes Julie whimper and Reggie grit his teeth.
He rubs Julie's back, where he's met with warm skin because she's wearing a cute, strappy little black tank top.
Which he isn't going to think too hard about because he's better than that asshole, Julie's more than her body—
And her well-being is the priority.
"Julie, are you okay? Did he hurt you?"
"No," she mumbles into his shirt, and he's suddenly ready to do something really stupid, like punch that guy to death, when she adds, "I mean…yes. I'm fine, not…hurt. Just. Gross feeling."
"Do you want me to take you home?"
She makes a sad sound, nuzzling her nose into the curve of his neck.
He has to suppress a shiver, especially as her lips brush against his throat.
"Take me to your place? I don't…wanna be alone. Please?"
"Of course," he says softly, pressing his lips to the top of her head, which usually makes her grin and giggle.
Julie's an affectionate drunk—when she's with her friends. Giggly and sweet, and he hates that she's not laughing, that some asshole ruined this evening, that experience, for her.
She does let out a little contented sigh, though, lolling her head back to hit him with the full force of her puppy-dog eyes, which are warm and wide and—
Just—lethal levels of adorable.
"Reggie…carry me?"
He knows that one of the guys is going to see, and they're all going to give him more shit than they already do, call him out on being whipped for a girl he hasn't even bothered confessing to—
But it's not Reggie’s fault that it's never the right time. Especially not now, when she's drunk and feeling gross.
Reggie hums. "If that's what you want."
So she clings to him like a koala, and he keeps his arms secure around her back, glad that it does make her giggle.
To him, that's way more important than any of the weird looks they get.
With some difficulty—mostly stemming from the fact that she doesn't want to let go, even in the slightest—he manages to get her out of the house, down the block, and into his truck.
She wriggles in the seat as he clicks the seatbelt in, pouting at him expectantly all the while.
He laughs quietly. "What?"
"You're out there and not up here."
Understanding makes him flush.
"I can't climb in the seat with you."
"Why?" She pouts harder. "It's cold."
"I know. But I have to drive, Jules."
And she looks so crushed that he's quick to add—
"We're not going far, though. We can cuddle all you like at my place, okay?"
A smile slowly spreads over her face.
"Hmm…okay."
He closes her door as softly as he can and goes around to hop in on the driver's side. He lets the engine idle for a moment, wishing he could put the heat on, but it's never not busted.
By the time he glances over at Julie, she's curled up in the seat, drowsing.
He slides out of his jacket, debates sniffing it, decides that would be weird, prays it doesn't smell bad—
And drapes it carefully over Julie's balled up form, heart hammering again.
She sighs and snuggles into it, much like she had when she'd run right into his arms, and he melts at the sight.
God, but she's so fucking cute.
He ends up carrying her into his apartment, too—in for a penny, in for a pound, as his grandpa always says—but when he tries to take the jacket away to give her a proper blanket, she refuses to give it up.
"Mine," she says sleepily. "Don't…"
He brushes some curls out of her face, smiling as she nuzzles into his hand.
"You can't keep it forever, Jules."
"But you gave it to me…mine, now."
As with everything else, he's quick to acquiesce, but he does make sure she has some proper blankets nearby—just in case—before he grabs one for himself and makes up the couch.
And after that night—
She never really gives his jacket back, first holding it hostage to make the time to confess, then stealing it from him every opportunity that she gets, but it and his heart are both happily hers.

Juke au request:
where sunset curve is famous, julie carrie and flynn are backup dancers for this big epic gig and Luke sees julie right there on the spot onstage
👀
I got that vivid idea last night I can't write if my life so I asked someone else to write it but they don't write fir that ship it would mean a lot to me to see this fleshed out
hello! sorry i don’t really do requests anymore cause i’m nowhere near as motivated to write jatp fics, but here’s how i think this could pan out:
ok so julie being a backup dancer feels a little ooc for me in the way that i think she should always be the star of whatever she’s doing — and that although luke would be intrigued to see her cause she’s very Pretty, it wouldn’t be enough to fully captivate him. they both bonded over music and it’s how he fell for her so deeply
SO
my idea is that julie finds herself being a backup dancer with flynn and carrie because it was her only way to keep her promise: she still can’t bring herself to sing again after her mom’s death but rose made her promise to always be involved with music, to always have it in her life. so julie does the next best thing: she chooses to dance - she’s still surrounded by music all the time, it’s just slightly different to what she’s used to: she doesn’t sing
and maybe. maybe at this event/gig/festival that both luke and julie find themselves in, that’s where they first meet. i’m thinking that perhaps luke coincidentally walks past her backstage at some point before their performance and hears her hum a song (maybe one of theirs? maybe one by rose and the petal pushers?) and it peaks his interest cause 1. it’s his song (or a song by a legend called rose molina and he doesn’t often hear people listening to rose and the petal pushers) and 2. cause even with just the soft humming he can hear the quality of this girl’s voice
but before he can backtrack and approach her, maybe talk to her about music, he gets called over for sound check and then it’s just a busy day and he kind of forgets/lets it go
that is until later on when he sees the same girl dancing on stage and is a little surprised she isn’t the one singing — and shit, he also notices that she’s kinda cute too.
he’s Intrigued even more at this point. because he thinks he saw her look a little happier humming to a song backstage than she does dancing her heart out onstage
and now he wants to know more
cue him looking her up on instagram, and reggie and alex rolling their eyes at him. cue him going way back down her old posts until he stumbles on the earliest ones on her insta and it’s a short clip of her…singing
like singing singing. and now he’s sat there on their tour bus, mouth hanging open and heart beating in his throat because holy shit this is the most beautiful voice he’s ever hear
so he shoots his shot….and DMs her 👀
