Comment vieillir prématurément

On pourrait qualifier ce titre d’absurde. Certainement, et je vous préviens que son contenu ne l’est pas moins. Raisonner par l’absurde n’est pourtant pas une mauvaise façon de cimenter certains enseignements. Wine Review #6: La Vieille Ferme

Opening: Easy peasy screw caps pleasy!

Taste: Maybe I am biased towards that wine and it seems to me that it tastes better than it does because that is a wine I bought when my friends were visiting me in Wales, that we named "Old Chicken Wine" which made us laugh out loud :) The wine indeed is nice crisp and sour, although milder compared to the wines I usually prefer. However, there are no strong flowery notes that would add unnecessary sweetness to the wine.

Headache: No headache for me :)

Les Jours de la Vieille / The days of the old Hag.

In several regions of France, we call the “days of the Old Hag” a period of resumption of cold.

From the end of February to the beginning of March (for the mildest climates) ; or from the end of March to the beginning of April. These days are often personified by a [wicked fairy], twisted and hunchbacked : the Old Hag who comes to freeze the buds.

She once ruled over the last three days of March, but that wasn't enough for her, so she "borrowed" the first three days of April. (Often even the months of February - March - April are personified and fight (or not) against this kidnapping.) We find typical sayings featuring it in almost all regions: "With the three that I have, with the three that Avril lends me, I will freeze the blackbird in its nest!"

Of course it's possible to limit the damage She does with conjurations and prayers, but no peasant risked sowing on those days.
