First Look: The BMW M Hybrid V8 in its Race Livery
The BMW M Hybrid V8 has arrived in North America and was presented to the public in its racing colours for the first time at a launch event at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles (USA). The first prototype developed by BMW M Motorsport in 25 years will sport an avant-garde livery which leverages the iconic BMW M colours when it competes in the GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023.
The four core drivers who will take their place at the wheel of the two BMW M Team RLL cars were also announced at the Petersen Museum. They are BMW M works drivers Connor De Phillippi (USA), Philipp Eng (AUT), Augusto Farfus (BRA) and Nick Yelloly (GBR). When the car makes its race debut at Daytona (USA) in January 2023, they will receive big-name support from IndyCar series driver Colton Herta (USA).

Pictures: BMWs new WEC team completes first test with M Hybrid V8 at Aragon | World Endurance Championship
The team which will field BMW’s entry in next year’s World Endurance Championship has completed its first test run with the M Hybrid V8 LMDh. Six of the team’s works drivers took the wheel of the BMW M Hybrid V8. It is powered by a four-litre twin-turbo engine producing around 640bhp, as defined by the regulations, and a specification 50kW (67bhp) LMDh hybrid drive system. The car was originally shaken down at BMW’s Dingolfing facility in Germany by Nick Yelloly. It then spent several days running at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain. BMW M Team WR drivers Jesse Krohn, Maxime Martin, Sheldon van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor, Dan Harper and Max Hesse shared the BMW M Hybrid V8 in Spain. The car was also entrusted to some of its Junior Team drivers. BMW M Motorsport chief Andreas Roos said the team made “a very good start” to its programme ahead of the new WEC season in Qatar next March. The car has already raced in America’s IMSA series. BMW scored its first win with the it in last weekend’s race at Watkins Glen after the on-the-road winner was penalised for a technical infringement. “The BMW M Hybrid V8 ran smoothly during the first test drives and provided our engineers and the team with the opportunity to gain a wealth of insights right from the start,” Roos continued. “Of course, the experiences we have gathered together with BMW M Team RLL in the IMSA series races have also contributed to this. “At the beginning of the LMDh programme, we deliberately chose to compete exclusively in the IMSA series first and later in the FIA WEC. We are now benefiting from this approach. Although the start was successful, there is still a lot of work to be done on the way to the first races. We are all highly motivated for the work throughout the rest of the year.” Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free Pictures: BMW M Hybrid V8 tests at Aragon BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8, Motorland Aragon, 2023 Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free World Endurance Championship Browse all World Endurance Championship articles via RaceFans - Independent Motorsport Coverage https://www.racefans.net/

just remembered that wild bit where people were like "WEC don't want you to know the 800hp ICE LMP1s are faster than the 1000hp hybrid LMP1s, this information is being suppressed by Big Le Mans"

What a difference 44 years makes juxtaposition of AMG 450 SEL 6.9, 1979 & Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance, 2023. There have been AMG versions of the Mercedes S-class since the W116 series when AMG was an independent tuner. The first AMG was based on the W109 series. The new S 63 is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine at the front and electric motor on the rear axle for a total 802 hp (590 kW) system output. This makes it the most powerful series production S-Class of all time. The hybrid set-up allows for an all-electric range of 33 kilometres. There’s also active roll stabilisation and active rear-axle steering
