helping stray animals
PLEASE, REBLOG
Hey!
Firstly, thank you for your support and help. I remind you that I live in Ukraine and help stray animals. They have no home and family, and live in basements, attics, garages, etc. Now we need your help!
There is almost no food for animals. We also found dogs that we feed until they find a family. I remind you that I feed about 20 cats, and now 5 dogs. I can't do it without you. Please donate if you can:
buymeacoffee
patreon
pp [email protected] (for animals)
Or just reblog! Thank you again!

Bit of a mindfuck to see USAmerican conservatives supporting Israel. How do they square that with their antisemitic tinhattery and general abiding hatred of Jews? Do they slap an Israeli sticker with the Star of David on their pickup before or after going and vandalizing a synagogue?
Guess when we said "do not equate the Jewish people with the state of Israel" they went "Hell yeah! Fuck Jews! Stand with Israel!" 💀
Edit: I stand corrected. And informed. What the fuck.

People who tell you they they don't trust the media will read headlines and immediately trust them when they say that this many millions or this many billions are in a new aid package to Ukraine. What they don't understand is that most of the time the value of the military aid that is being sent over was already paid for for our use, in some cases decades ago. It is going to expire at some point, and since we're definitely not going to use it, what that means is that we'd actually pay more to dispose of that weaponry then we pay when we send it to Ukraine. So what we're doing now actually is a cost-saving thing. Instead of paying to dispose that weaponry we are paying less to dispose of Russians.

Freij
Freije Known for their fringed ears, thick dark hair, and natural resistance the frigid temperatures of the north. Freije seals take on a white or pale-blue hue, contrasting against their dark skin. Typically asymmetrical and unique to each individual, they have been widely (and fittingly) remarked as resembling snowflakes and frost, consisting of radial pattern of crystal-like markings.
Matriar The military and naval prowess of Freij is recognized across Elothia, and its Matriar reflects that. As Leader and Admiral, She dons the military vestments of the region, although ornamented and embroidered to indicated Her regal station. She also carries on Her person, just as the officers under Her, a dagger and sabre. Typically these would be highly decorated commissioned works, much like Her chokha and kalpak. However the current Matriar has forgone the tradition, preferring to don and wield the standard arms of her men. As Impero recently saw a Patris leave the throne, Freij is likely to see one on theirs in the coming centuries as the current Matriar has only one son and seemingly no interest in bearing another child.
Czars State officials and Generals to Her Majesty. Much like the Matriar, Czars are outfitted in military garb and keep a dagger and sabre on their person. While still decorated to denote them as officers of import, it is not to the level of the Matriar.
Citizens Despite the high tolerance to the northern climate that they have become known for, Freije are born incredibly susceptible to the cold. Newborns are heavily swaddled in thick furs and kept indoors for the most of their first year. Even when younglings are finally able to be brought outdoors, they do so thoroughly bundled up, almost comically, in several layers of thick clothing and furs.
It's not until adolescense that the Freije's cold tolerance truly begin to build up. They begin to strip away their heavy coats, scarves and furs, and many, many, layers as the years proceed, and by their first century the typical Freije can brush off the low temperatures with far lighter apparel. To the outsider experiencing the bite of Freij's Spring chill for the first time, they may even look underdressed.
In opposition to this are the region's wealthier merchants, barons, and city officials. Setting themselves up at higher altitudes, far above the crowded docks and fish markets, even their natural resistance isn't quite enough to keep out the colder mountain winds. As a result, upper class Draken remain relatively bundled up well after maturing - a fact that's earned the ridicule of many common folk, thinking it make them look childish.

Postcards from Ukraine to members of Congress – a suggestion 💡 🇺🇦 🇺🇸 📮
It's clear that House Speaker Mike Johnson is acting on orders from Donald Trump to prevent a Senate bill which includes aid to Ukraine from getting a vote in the House of Representatives. Johnson is a craven careerist who would sell his mother into slavery to please Trump.
The Senate bill ("Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act") could still be taken up – and would almost certainly pass – if just a handful of Republicans from moderate districts decided to support a parliamentary procedure called a "discharge petition" in order to bypass Speaker Johnson.
There are 17 Republicans in the House of Representatives in 2022 who won in congressional districts where Joe Biden had beaten Donald Trump in 2020. These Republicans from moderate districts would be a good grouping to entreat to support the discharge petition. A number of them have already expressed support for Ukraine in the past. It's a matter of getting them to put conscience ahead of their fear of Trump.
Below is a list of addresses of the district offices of those 17 Republican Representatives. If you are in Ukraine, buy a postcard and clearly write a short message which tells how you love freedom and how Putin's illegal war has affected you. It can be in English or Ukrainian. Use a Ukrainian stamp for postage and mail it as soon as possible.
Individuals need pick just 1 of the 17. But schools, businesses, clubs, and military units with at least 17 people can arrange to send one to each of the listed Representatives.
Be polite but urgent. Perhaps remind them that Ronald Reagan understood the dangers of Russian imperialism.

FAQ
Why physical mail instead of email or phone calls? There's an enormous chance that your email would end up in a spam folder. Also, the Congressional email system tends to prioritize email originating from the districts of each individual House member. Phone calls from outside the US are likely to be filtered out. Unlike email or phone calls, a physical piece of mail has a real world presence. The recipient has to do something with it. You can't simply press DELETE to get rid of it.
Why postcards and not letters? For security reasons. It takes less time and effort to inspect a postcard than a letter or parcel. Your mail will arrive sooner.
Why use postage stamps instead of a postage meter? You want the recipient to know that you are REALLY from Ukraine. Using official Ukrainian stamps is a simple way to do that. When people see Україна or Ukraina on the stamp then they will know it originated in Free Ukraine. FYI: the letter Ї does not exist in Russian, recipients should look for this on the stamp. Also, your stamp automatically turns the postcard into a collector's item. It is more likely to be saved and to serve as a continuing reminder of your urgent request.
Why send the postcards to district offices instead of offices in Washington? Postcards from Ukraine will get more attention locally by local staff; if a sizable number arrive, it might even get mentioned in local media. In Washington, people tend to be more blasé about such things.
What is the proper form of address for House members? Rep. or Representative before the surname – no distinction based on gender.
FOR REFERENCE: Here are electoral stats for the districts. The column marked R margin indicates the size of each Representative's winning margin in 2022. Rep. Duarte, for example, beat his Democratic opponent by a very narrow 0.4%

🇷🇺🇺🇦 🚨 NEW U.S. MILITARY AID PACKAGE DESTINED FOR UKRAINE IS SMALLEST PACKAGE YET
⚡️The Pentagon will provide Kyiv with a new aid package⚡️
According to the US Department of Defense, the package includes Stinger surface-to-air missiles, the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, as well as additional ammunition: 155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells, TOW optically guided missile systems, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems. The size of this package will be $100 million.
In addition to this, more than 3 million small arms ammunition, spare parts, maintenance equipment and other components will be transferred to Kyiv.
It was previously reported that the US authorities are currently “dosing” assistance to Ukraine due to the limited availability of resources.

Matt Gaetz has been one of the most vocal Republicans in Congress when it comes to cracking down on China. It had to be more than a little embarrassing on Tuesday, then, when the Florida congressman got called out in a House Armed Services Committee hearing for citing Chinese propaganda while trying to make a point about cutting off U.S. aid to Ukraine.
“Is the Azov Battalion getting access to U.S. weapons?” Gaetz asked Colin Kahl, the U.S. defense undersecretary for policy. The Azov Battalion is a controversial, far-right unit within Ukraine’s national guard. Kahl seemed confused. “Not that I’m aware of,” he said. “But if you have information I’d be happy to hear it.”
Gaetz then entered into the record a report from the Global Times about how the Azov Battalion was getting U.S. weapons as far back as 2018. “Any reason to disagree with that assessment?”
“I’m sorry, is this the Global Times from China?” Kahl asked.
“No, this is—” Gaetz began before looking at his notes. “It might be, yeah,” he continued.
“As a general matter, I don’t take Beijing’s propaganda at face value,” Kahl said.
Gaetz asked him to answer the question. “I don’t have any evidence one way or the other,” Kahl said before reiterating that he doesn’t take Beijing’s propaganda at face value.
“Fair enough, I would agree with that assessment,” Gaetz said before quickly moving on.

Khal wasn’t the only one who dunked on Gaetz on Tuesday. Rep. Eric Swalwell called him out for inviting Corey Beekman, a combat veteran, to lead the Pledge of Allegiance ahead of the year’s first Judiciary Committee hearing. “It is my pleasure and distinct honor to introduce to the committee Staff Sergeant Corey Ryan Beekman, an American hero and a constituent of mine residing in Pensacola, Florida,” Gaetz said.
As Swalwell pointed out on Tuesday, Beekman is an accused murderer who wound up in a standoff with police. “That’s why there’s a trust deficit here,” Swalwell said. “You pull off a public stunt to try to own the libs, and what you did is you brought in a guy who allegedly shot two people and killed one of them. That’s where the trust deficit is.”
Tumblr media
Gaetz apologized to the family of Billy Buchanan, whom Beekman allegedly shot and killed, in a statement to the Daily Beast earlier this month. “The family of Billy Buchanan brought the situation to my attention, and I’m glad they did,” Gaetz said, adding that the decision had some “unintended consequences.”

It is difficult to communicate the level of Ukrainians’ affection for Americans and gratitude for American support that one experiences here. They know how important our help is. They know that we’ve given them — to a far greater extent than any other nation — the tools and resources to repel a vicious invasion. Moreover, our strategy has largely worked. Ukraine defeated Russia’s initial attempt to take Kyiv. It has pushed Russia back from Kharkiv. It has retaken Kherson. It has apparently stopped the most recent Russian offensive.
[ ... ]
This is primarily a Ukrainian story, of course. We know from bitter experience that we can supply “allies” with billions of dollars of American weapons, only to watch them collapse in the face of a determined attack. But Ukrainian valor and resolve are breathtaking. Most Ukrainians I’ve talked to since arriving don’t say “after the war”; they say “after the victory.” But this is also an American story, and at the risk of sounding a bit corny, when I watched the air defenses we helped build intercept Russian hypersonic missiles above Kyiv, I felt proud to be an American.
Columnist David French at the New York Times who wrote this piece in Kyiv.
US assistance to Ukraine is the most positive direct US foray into international relations since the 1978 Camp David Accords.
Ukraine does not rely entirely on aid from abroad to preserve its independence. After Putin's illegal annexation of Crimea and the start of the Russia-instigated war in Donbas in 2014, Ukraine accelerated development of its own arms industry.
Recently RFE/RL did a report on Ukraine's locally developed Furia reconnaissance drones.
youtube
Perhaps the most famous homegrown Ukrainian weapons system is the R-360 Neptune missile. Last year an R-360 sank the Moskva, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet.
The R-360 and Furia are two of many military products developed in Ukraine.
youtube
As Russia raises the stakes with increased missile attacks, Ukraine still needs more advanced systems to repel the invaders and end the war sooner. And the war won't truly end until Russia returns to its internationally recognized borders.
