Regarding that twink getting railed in the Senate hearing room:

I can't be super happy because it's going to lead to various degrees of even more "they're sickly, sex-crazed vermin" discourse about gay men from both conservative politicians and just regular people. And OF COURSE it should not be his job to represent gay guys, as that is a role unfairly forced upon him by the marginalization of gay men...but it is a role he is in as a gay man working fairly high up in government, and he acted pretty grossly. Sex at work on someone else's desk is, generally, very bad.

On the other hand though he is an icon, a legend, and he is the moment. Having gay sex in the Senate is nothing short of an incredible and hilarious act of defiance, even if not intended as such. He got SPLIT OPEN right where RBG got confirmed to the supreme court, just like she would've wanted.

A man with numerous firearms and materials to make an explosive was arrested Thursday in former President Barack Obama’s Washington, DC, neighborhood after claiming on an internet livestream that he had a detonator, law enforcement officials told CNN.

Taylor Taranto, who had an open warrant for his arrest related to the January 6, 2021, US Capitol attack, was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department and federal law enforcement. He has been charged with being a fugitive from justice.

“Arresting officers requested MPD’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team to perform a vehicle sweep of the individual’s van near the location of the arrest,” the MPD said in a statement to CNN. “There is no active threat to the community and this incident remains under investigation.”

According to law enforcement officials, firearms and materials to make Molotov cocktails were found in Taranto’s car. There is currently no indication of a direct threat to the Obamas, law enforcement officials told CNN.

A spokesperson for the Obamas declined to comment.

The United States Capitol Police “assisted in the investigation due to a concern for public safety and the potential for violence against Members of Congress,” said Jason Bell, acting assistant chief for protective and intelligence operations, said in a statement. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces is continuing the investigation into Taranto’s actions.

Taranto has no fixed address, according to MPD.

Taranto is also a defendant in a civil suit filed by the estate of former MPD officer Jeffrey Smith, who died by suicide in the days following the January 6 attack. In court filings related to the ongoing suit, Taranto admitted to being inside the Capitol during the attack, but denied any wrongdoing.

The lawsuit alleges that Taranto aided in the attack of Smith during the Capitol riot by handing a cane or crowbar to another rioter, who allegedly used the weapon to attack Smith. Taranto’s actions contributed to Smith’s death, the lawsuit alleges.

The allegations, Taranto wrote, are “made up.”

Taranto, in court documents, said he went inside the Capitol that day but claimed he was acting as a “press agent” who covers left-wing protesters.

Taranto wrote he was “allowed into the Capitol without resistance” by Capitol police and claimed “the doors to the Capitol were open.”

He also claimed in court filings that he was assaulted by police inside the Capitol.

Three years ago a mob of terrorists incited by sore loser Donald Trump rampaged through the US Capitol. They were attempting to disrupt the counting of electoral votes in a free and fair election that Trump clearly lost.

These un-American Trumpsters engaged in what Matthew Graves, US Attorney for the District of Columbia, called, "likely the largest single day mass assault of law enforcement officers in our nation's history".

We need to thank the Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police for their service that day. Things would have been far worse without their bravery and determination. Some people on our side of the spectrum overlook the fact that democracy depends on men and women putting themselves at great risk to preserve our way of life. We see that daily in Ukraine; Putin's invasion got stalled because Ukrainians put freedom ahead of their personal safety — not because Russia got a lot of down arrows on social media.

In addition to law enforcement, one person who stood out at the Capitol on 06 January 2021 was Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ-03). Rep. Kim did not wait for others to clean up the debris and wreckage left by the Trump terrorists, he joined in so he could get the building cleaned up as quickly as possible so Congress could get back to the business of certifying the lawful victory of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

In the wake of the indictment of New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez, Andy Kim announced that he would challenge the incumbent in the 2024 NJ primary. Andy is the direct opposite of Trump. He supports democratic institutions and is not afraid to get his hands dirty in defense of those institutions.

It's not necessary to live in New Jersey to support Andy Kim's Senate campaign. If he wins, it's not just a victory for him but for 21st century American values.
