Still recovering from the madness that was last weekend. Dressing as Neil to meet Nigel Planer. I only really had a couple of people recognise that I was dressed as Neil at the con I went to, but talking to Nigel Planer felt like 100 people had spoken to me. He was absolutely gobsmacked by my costume, commenting on how exact the coat was, "my coat! It looks like the real thing!" he said, the wig (stopping mid conversation) "you've even got the two strands down the front. Gosh..." *Looks in awe* and looking over the table to see my shoes!

The cans I had designed and made of Neil's own brand of lentils went down well because he LOVED IT!

Nigel: Can I keep this?! (all excited!)

Me: Of course you can!

*Nigel all happy*: So what is actually in them...?

Me: It could be carrots, peas or sweetcorn from what I remember... 😂😂

The can then sat proudly on his table next to him for the rest of the day. ❤️

I had time to properly chat to him (and may or may not have got a little soppy) which brought a tear to his eye. He was so taken back by my kind words but I meant every one of them. The Young Ones was one of the things that made me so unbelievably happy over the lockdowns, I found a new hobby to love and I've even made friends through my love for the show. I basically said thank you, and even though it was made years ago, I'm so glad I found it and how happy it made me and The Comic Strip+ other projects Nigel and the gang had made.

It might not mean anything to anyone else but this interaction means the world to me.

my whole YouTube feed is filled with videos about the Stanley cup/Sephora kid thing and maybe bc I haven’t used tiktok in months but I’m so lost as to why everybody, including the kids themselves is being blamed for this problem lmao.

#there’s only one enemy and that’s capitalism/consumerism #not to mention the parents who think being an ‘ipad kid’ is cute and quirky bc they don’t want to raise their kids beyond the baby stage #like why are you mad at an influencer who’s job it is to sell a product for not monitoring if ur children are watching #that beauty influencer is not selling to them or for them #they’re a business + brand marketing to other ppl their age #people who can actually afford the products #not somebody who barely has lunch money less known 3 bands to drop on drunk elephant #like I have so many young cousins/kids in my neighborhood who are being brought up this way + it’s the internet’s fault always #not the fact that their parents don’t do anything #and what gets me is that somebody like me who’s made content online like cosplay/anime or even writing fanfic #has to worry about censoring myself for some brat I’m not even thinking abt #and it hurts creatives who are just looking for an escape #when I’m reality the only problem is that these parents are lazy and expect some random youtuber to teach their kids the things they refuse #it takes a village yes but at the end of the day that responsibility lies on the person who birthed them #I’m sorry #cherry chats 🍒

obviously the cosplay isn’t done, I don’t have the socks/talons yet or the right shirt for under the vest, but it’s coming along and I’m really happy with it! I got the vest and hat from etsy, I’ll try and remember to post the links to those stores later I’m too worn out to find them right now.

I've been wanting to learn to make amigurumi for a while, and my partner loved my official enderman plush so much i let them kidnap it (:p fair, it is very cute) so this seemed like a good first project.

i used a tutorial from Supergurumi for crochet cubes (front loop ver) and just sorta ad-libbed the rest.

Head and body were not manually attached, instead of finishing off the head cube I got down to the last 4 stitches, then repeated them instead of decreasing & used that to start the body. it was a bit tricky to make sure the head/body lined up properly, and I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want the head to flop around. To make him stay cubed(tm) I made the head and body stuffing by covering some upholstery foam in the right shape with black fabric and sticking it in before finishing each section. Eyes were done w/ embroidery thread and a tiny tiny hook. Arms & legs were 6-stitch magic rings that I just continued upward & attached to the body at the end.

I will never understand why people cyber bully cosplayers. Cosplay is an art, I’ll fight you on that. Making costumes can take hours upon hours depending on your detail level, and makeup can take up to four hours or more to get into. A lot of cosplayers make their own sets, do their own lighting and recording, and edit their videos and photos themselves. A single cosplayer does what it takes up to ten people for a theatre production.

Then you have..some rando on the internet with no profile picture and a blank account who’ll be like “uGh cOsPlay is cRiNge.” Oh really? Because to me it looks like someone who has no hobbies other than bullying someone on the internet is trying to pick on someone who’s creating art and making people happy. Which one is more cringe? TLDR; don’t listen to haters, keep creating. We need more people who create.
