This poster makes The Midnight Hour looks way cooler than it is. Still: gosh what a fun movie! It’s not scary, it’s not funny, it’s not novel, but it’s nice and pleasant and for a 1985 ABC TV Movie it has at least two really beautiful sequences. Kurtwood Smith’s in this, too. Just a cute surprise.

Sometimes I feel like no one knows me at all but then my day one’s remind me that they know. They know. I mean how could they not I used to annoy everyone by watching this and then I had to rewind it and watch it over and over and over again. Then for some reason I kept finding it in strange hiding places but that was fine, I’d just pop it right back into the VCR. Until the day I couldn’t find it anymore 💔a child’s heart was broken that day! 💔
(My mom did the smart thing and hid it from me even though I promised I’d ONLY watch it like twice a day. Of course my young mind only understood how unreasonable she is 🤣)
I know this movie by heart! I could probably act out each scene too
Fun fact, this soundtrack has the midnight hour song, sea of love, bad moon rising, how soon is now, Devil or angel, and baby I’m yours. All songs I heard on this movie when I was a kid, all songs I love the heck out of and all songs I’ve used or will be using in my stories because they mean as much to me as my favorite movie ♥️♥️♥️

Ripples and Other Poems
By Sam Barbee
Ripples
I bait a hook, dunk it like a kiss.
Plunk disperses a concentric splash.
Each surge of the lake reminds
any visitor the loch measures each splay or lap.
What creature will break its water next?
Frog hop or ducks’ paddle?
Mallards glide confident, and rebuke
the clouded origin of turtles exploding
mud off velvet bottoms to hunt in shallows.
One less mystery to solve.
Reeds…
