2023 year was my first year in the fandom (well, technically 2022 was my first year in the fandom and the year I made my Belle rp blog, but in terms of actually contributing something to the fandom 2023 was my first year).
I started it off with great ambitions regarding writing and gifing and editing. I ended up posting only a handful of gifsets, three ficlets, two of which I wrote for Rumbelle Showdown (shoutout to @jackabelle73 for hosting this wonderful event last year, by the way), and 0 fanvids/edits. I'm not particularly proud of it, and I really, really wanna make much more content this year. We'll see how it goes 😅
Anyway, I still decided to give participating in @the-chipped-cup-awards a try. It looked fun last year, when I was only a bystander.
So, without further rambling, I offer to your consideration what little I wrote and made in the year 2023.

Belle and Rumple are slowly growing closer as they spend evenings in each other's company in the Dark Castle.
Then, when one day Rumplestiltskin is called away for a deal in the middle of their conversation and doesn't return for an hour, Belle begins to worry.

RumbelleTEAs.com Update
Hey rumbelle fam,
Just putting it out there that the site will be down for probably the foreseeable future?
This is for two (and a half?) reasons:
1) It was built on a tech stack that is now pretty outdated, and it seems the queries that actually make the site work are no longer returning the data they need to. So... I would need to do some poking around under the hood to see what exactly is causing the problem and time has become a pretty scarce resource for me lately
2) Uh... Hosting is getting quite expensive 🥲 I've been hosting the site on the same webspace I host my professional portfolio site on, so it hadn't been an issue, but my portfolio site is also in need of a massive redesign/rebuild that I won't be getting to any time soon, so it's really not worth paying what it costs to keep the lights on there either, especially given I'm not actively looking for work atm (bc I'm currently working full-time at a pretty great company 😊)
2.5) The amount of fanworks we create has sadly calmed down a LOT since the show ended, so there doesn't seem to be as much of a need for the site as there was 2-3 years ago? (As much as I would love to keep it up for posterity or whatever)
That being said, I am looking into other tech stacks and less costly hosting solutions, and the ideal outcome is that I'll be able to migrate everything and have it back up in a month or two. But like I said, time is precious and I can't guarantee anything
Thanks to everyone who helped make this fandom a real community for so many years, who organized (and in some cases continue to organize) all our fun events, and helped manage the site with me! Y'all are the best, and I sincerely hope to have things back up soon! 🤗💕

Chipped Cup Awards Schedule
Hi everyone! It might be a bit last-minute, but here’s our schedule for the event:
January 2nd - January 23rd - Nomination period. A Google form will be posted to this blog where you can submit your nominations. As always, you can nominate as many or as few works as you want for each category. Each work must get at least three nominations from different users in order to qualify for voting.
January 27th - February 8th - Voting time! All qualifying works will be compiled into a simple multiple-choice form. Only one form per Tumblr user may be submitted.
February 12th - Chipped Cup Awards Ceremony!
We hope you’ll join us for this continuation of a beloved fandom event. Writers, artists, and other Rumbelle creators, get your FYC posts ready!

Okay, Anon. I’m posting this on my main, rather than on the @the-chipped-cup-awards page, because this is my personal take on the issue, and not necessarily the opinion of the mod group as a whole.
The purpose of the Chipped Cup Awards (and before that, the Espenson Awards) is to celebrate all aspects of the Rumbelle fandom. All of the categories on this form have been part of this event since long before I joined the fandom. I don’t think it’s any one person’s place - mine OR yours - to decide for the entire fandom whether a category is “acceptable.” If enough people come forward - not on anon, so we can verify that there are multiple people who feel this way - then we’ll take this under consideration. That being said, Rumbelle poly ships still celebrate the dynamic between Belle and Rumpelstiltskin, and many people enjoy putting the Swanfire family into Rumbelle fics, so it’s my personal opinion that both categories should stay (but I invite other Rumbellers to weigh in).
What really concerns me is your incredibly judgmental tone. Gross? Sick? I think you might be in the wrong fandom, Anon. I’ve read smutty fic where Belle is a centaur, or Rumpelstiltskin is a drider. I’ve read age gap fic where Belle is underage and Gold is her boss or her teacher. I myself have a WIP where Belle and Gold are cursed to think they’re father and daughter (and while the smut hasn’t happened yet, believe me when I say it’s coming). This is and always has been a very open-minded fandom, so it disturbs me to see ship-shaming like this.
It’s well-known that the Once Upon a Time family tree is a tumbleweed. Swan Queen is a ship between an older woman and her step-granddaughter. Even Captain Swan - a canon ship! - is between a man and his late stepson’s ex girlfriend/baby momma. Golden Queen and Wicked Gold are both ships between a man and his ex lover’s daughters - both of whom were groomed by said man. If you’re looking for a fandom that’s concerned with moral purity in its ships, you’re very much looking in the wrong place.
I invite you to examine why you feel like it’s your place to cast judgment on members of your fandom when you don’t hold the show’s very writers to the same standards.

S4. Ep10. Hush
Universally lauded as one of the best episodes of Buffy, “Hush” is the only episode of the entire series to be nominated for an Emmy Award in Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. It also received a nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single Camera Series, thanks to Director of Photography, Michael Gershman.
"Hush" is Alyson Hannigan's (Willow) favorite episode of the Buffy series, and the one Nicholas Brendon (Xander) considers the most frightening. Series writer Jane Espenson stated the episode "redefined what an episode of television could do" Sarah Michelle Gellar said “it was one of those moments where I thought, “Oh, this is great! A whole episode with no lines!” I was like, this is a breeze! And boy was I wrong.”
As there’s only about 17 minutes of dialogue in the total 44 minutes of the episode, Whedon thought for sure viewers would find the episode boring and was worried that he would fail to present the show in a novel way. Initially, this was to be the episode where Riley and Buffy have sex, and Whedon took comfort in that plan because he knew people would not mind the silence, but ultimately he decided it was too early for the characters to sleep together, and he scrapped the idea.
Noel Murray from The A.V. Club writes that the silence imposed by The Gentlemen is a metaphor for how evil spreads: "When dissent is stifled, or people fail to tell the truth, or when we’re just distracted by other concerns, things can get out of hand." Authority figures in the series, such as the school principal, the mayor's office, and the Sunnydale Police Department, repeatedly either abet the town's endemic evil or choose not to hear about it. During "Hush", at Giles' apartment the Scoobies listen to a newscaster reporting that authorities in the town attribute the silence to a flu vaccine gone awry, causing mass laryngitis. Wilcox writes, "How many times will we see those in power maintain such a silence while evil proceeds? It is not surprising that The Gentlemen's attendants wear straitjackets; their garb suggests the insanity of such behavior—the pretense of civilized politeness while killing is accepted is a matter of course."

Return of The Monday Menu
Here we are, almost February, and already 2023 has been kicking my behind. My intention is now to kick back, because, friends, I miss writing, and I miss being able to engage with readers when they comment or send me DMs or asks or... just plain contact me in any way. Rumbelle IS a community after all!
Speaking of communities - if you haven’t already, dear fellow Rumbellers, show your support for your writers and artist who bring you fics and pics and gifs etc and go and cast your ballot in the inaugural Chipped Cup Awards.
For those of you that are new to the fandom, or have been hibernating (and who could blame anyone for that given the state of the world) the past couple of years, last year the Admin for the TEAs (The Espenson Awards) decided it would be the last year. Not wanting such an important part of the Rumbelle community to disappear, a group of brave souls got together to keep the event going under the new name of the Chipped Cup Awards.
The ballot form for this year’s awards is here.
Hopefully I will be able to find time to get some writing done this week, and here’s the plan for what this week might look like:
Monday - The Monday Menu - what it says on the box. A plan for the week.
Tuesday - TMI Tuesday. - Ask me… go on, anything. Ask my characters -they’ll answer. Nothing is off limits, but be sure you want the answer before you ask the question.
Wednesday - WIP Wednesday - Current state of my works in progress. So many - and still climbing!
Thursday - Three Things Thursday - any fic of mine is fair game. Doesn’t have to be Rumbelle, I have Rushbelle, a bunch of crossovers, some shows people might no know, some ST: DSC, some SGA and some Tolkien too… ask three things, I dare ya…! Please… This is also the day I’ll do the ‘Behind the Scenes’ post, which might just end up as part of the TTT post.
Friday - Final Line Friday. - Assuming I manage to write anything, I will post a word cloud, and the last line that I have written right before I post this.
Saturday - Saturday Secret - another one of those where you can ask about any fic, and I’ll tell (or show) you a secret. Feel free to follow up with conversation or guesses. I will tell you if you get something right. Again, no one took me up on the offer… so we might also have to think of another ‘SA’ post.
Sunday - Seven Sentence Sunday. - yeah, I have to write something to be able to post this.

For Your Consideration
Sigh. Having spent ages going back and forth on whether I should bother making on of these. I went for the worst option: making one at the last minute.
Every year I hope I’ll have made enough progress publishing my WIPs to suggest nominating them. Alas, yet again I have been thwarted by my health and life. But, despite being in a state of constant migraine for multiple months (this barely being able to use a screen), I did manage to write some fluff pieces I liked. I’m also including some past fics of mine that are eligible too.
Amends:
Dark Castle fluff written for Fluffapalooza 2021. Rumple has noticed something up with Belle's behaviour over the past few days, and is concerned one morning when he smells blood on her. Belle is upset by his nosiness and he has to work out how to make things right with her.

Family Photos:
This was my second Fluffapalooza piece. It’s a ficlet set in the same ’verse as “Unlovely Thoughts” but far in the future when everything’s resolved and Rumbelle, Gideon, Henry and Neal go out for ice cream.

Heey, there! I'm relatively new here on fic writing and for the past year I have been working on historical AU's for Rumbelle. So if you are looking for historical alternative universes: here is the place!

Pompeii: Burn For You

Rumple is a Pict living with his son in the North of Britain. When his village is raided by the Roman army , he is captured and ends up in the world of slavery and gladiators.
Belle is the daughter of the governor of Pompeii, Campania Felix, Mauricius Nerva. She is 19 and way past her marriage age. When she returns from her travels to Rome, her father announces his choice of husband.
In the midst of it all, they meet. And then the mountain growls.

This story isn't finished, but isn't by a long shot abandoned! I'm working on the next chapters. This fic contains : slavery, gladiators, Roman way of life, bathhouses, and of course something I can't escape, a volcano!
2. Ad Lucem
Remus Aurelius Nox is a rich man from an important Roman family. He lives in Iberia where he is governor of the capital of the province. When he is in Rome to finish some business, he sees something he can't turn away from.
Remix of Pompeii: Burn for You, with the roles reversed and a different setting. Still a Roman setting and still master-slave dynamics. Warning: has some non-con in it, but will become very consensual in the future.

This is also the first smut I have ever written. Not sure what category it fits in.

AU where Rumple falls over the town line instead of Belle, and leaves Gold to discover the truth about his relationship with French’s daughter. (I’m censoring the category so tumblr doesn’t block it.)
A Faint Reflection - Best Dark Castle and Best Wish!Rumple.
The reunion Wish!Belle and Wish!Rumple deserved, with a mixture of fluff, angst, and misunderstandings.
The Best Offer - Best Movie AU and Best AU Gold.
Written for 2020's RCIJ, inspired by the film of the same name. An esteemed auctioneer meets an elusive and enigmatic young heiress.

For Your Consideration, Part 1
This year all of my work aside from the secret gifting events was centered around A Monthly Rumbelling, which put out 5 fics a month for 12 months in a row. As I wrote this series I had a plan: to create a Choose Your Own Adventure series using the individual stand alone works from that 60 fic library. So far I have created two fics in the Rumbelle Me A Story series, but there are several more to come.
I would be honored if any of my writing was to be nominated, but my pride and joy for the year is the Rumbelle Me A Story series and in that series, the fic titled Those We Leave Behind. I would be grateful if readers would consider them for a TEA award this year.

Best Series - Rumbelle Me A Story
Summary: Welcome to your very own telling of the Rumbelle story. This Choose Your Own type series takes all of my Monthly Rumbelling fics and glues them together in such a way that your reading experience is different every time. I am writing a "spine" fic where the others all fit into place and hope to include a wide range of ideas by the series end. Don't see the one you're looking for? Prompt me. I might find a way to include your idea.
Best Rumbelle Fic - Beauty and the Beast
Summary: A retelling of Belle and Rumple's story from beginning to end using Monthly Rumbelling fics, written so that you get to decide what part of the story comes next.
Best Rumbelle Fic - Those We Leave Behind
Summary: Regina finds one of Henry's storybooks after he leaves from a visit with his family. She thinks it is empty, but when she opens it she discovers a whole collection of stories about Belle and Rumple. The book tells of their lives together and she spends the day reading parts of it. Will she get to finish or will she be interrupted and what will she decide is the best place for such a collection of memories?

Brought on by an idea from Mary Margaret, her friends break off into two teams, one captained by Belle, the other by a rather reluctant Gold. The groups race each other to points around town just for the fun of it, but Belle starts up a little bet with Gold on the side. Whoever wins is going to get something very special.
Rumbelle Secret Santa - The Oldest Door
Summary: Belle has been taken to the Dark Castle as Rumplestiltskin's maid but the Dark One has plans for her beyond simple servitude, all revolving around texts hidden behind the castle's most mysterious door. Older than all the rest and out of place, it is the only door Belle is not allowed to use. As the winter passes both the rules and Rumple's plans begin to change. Can the promises made at the door's threshold survive in a land without magic or will they be forever changed with the curse that approaches?

Nominations are a go!
The time is now! The first annual Chipped Cup Awards begins today!
As those of you who have participated in past TEAs events know, this is an event that allows the Rumbelle fandom to appreciate creators for the fics, art, and other fandom works they’ve come out with over the course of the year.
This year, instead of asking you to submit a list to our page, we’ve made a Google form you can fill out with all of your nominations. You can nominate as many fics, art, and artists as you like - the more, the merrier! A quick reminder: if a work has won any TEAs awards in the past, it is ineligible for nomination for future ceremonies going forward. But if it was created before 2022 and still has not won, it can still be nominated this year.

For Your Consideration
I don't have much to put forward because the past year has been - well, it wasn't great, although I ended in a much better place than when I started. Also I was mostly working on old fics, so there are only a couple of new things.
Comfort and Joy is the latest Extracurricular/RumBelleRush fic that I FINALLY finished so if you wanted, you could nominate that for Best Threesome. Usual Gold and Rush bickering and then lots of orgasms for Belle. You could nominate the Extracurricular series for Best Series, if you were so inclined. It's just fun and smut with no angst, which is very unlike me.
A Rose in Winter is my continuation of Key to the Cell, in which Dark Castle Rumbelle travel to the Land Without Magic to find Baelfire. Heartfelt Papafire reunion at Christmas and the Blue Fairy meets her doom. I suppose that might fit Best Storybrooke or maybe Best Baelfire. I was thinking it might fit Reunion but I'm not sure how much fluff is needed to qualify and while there is some fluff, there's also a little angst due to the Papafire feels.
Obviously these are only suggestions and I'd be grateful for any nominations you wanted to throw my way.
