can’t stop thinking about zoro being somehow captured and they’ve got him drugged to the gills but he keeps burning through it too fast so they muzzle him [insert bloodhound zoro moment + zoro is luffy’s feral dog jokes from the kidnappers] and then the strawhats find him and just about lose their minds (zoro with a big wound over his nose and slightly over his cheeks and luffy strokes the space under them with his fingertips to comfort him skdjsjdj injured zoro makes me feel insane)

So, let me start this by saying I think muzzles are severely under-rated. I cannot believe they aren't used more.

There's so much potential.

I've had a few Ace ideas I've posted with muzzles and I stg there's a Zoro one somewhere. I went through my tags and tried to find the post but I can't find it! I must have either deleted it or it was lost in the void of tumblr tags.

I have some ideas in my drafts that are similar to the muzzle and/or dog concept so I'll have to revist those and see what I can do with them. 🤔

In the meantime, I went and found some of my previous Zoro posts that may help satisfy the craving for some Zoro h/c!

and the second thing i associate u with is your constant & very sweet comments on my series rewrite!! i am so glad and honored that ur taking the time to read it. esp bc i know as a writer that it can be soo hard to make time for reading long fics, and the fact that u selected mine to not only read, but comment on, means the world to me! i always specifically remember the comment that said u were reading a chap at a church dinner bc it was just so sweet & made me laugh :) also reminded me of when i was younger and would sneak fics at church camp but that is neither here nor there😭

911 Lone Star Season 4 - My Thoughts

[Long Post Warning]

Oh hey tumblr, it's me! I've had this idea in my head for a while and thought that since most of my tumblr following is Spam-bots and inactive/deleted accounts (There's a few of you who are still active, so heyyy thanks for still following me!) that I would do my first one on Tumblr. I would love to start Youtube channel, but I still feel a bit shy.

I used to write a lot! If you have been following my blog since, geez, 2012 you know that. Unfortunately, I have been in a very long period of writers block. I'm hoping getting creative ideas on the page will help me start to write again.

The idea I have is to explain what I would want to see happen, or what I would do if I was one of the story writers of some of my favorite shows upcoming seasons. Or even what I think will be happening in these upcoming seasons. I hope this makes sense lol!

The first show I want to deep dive into has been my hyper-fixation show for the past several months (thanks @iboatedhere 🤣). I mean, I have watched the first three seasons of this show maybe 15 times at this point! I just found out a couple weeks ago that they have started production for season 4, and I am so excited to see what is in store! Of course the show I am talking about is 911 Lone Star!

Let's begin:

What I think will happen/What I want to happen

Sectioned by character:

Owen

This man annoys me 10/10 so I hope we see him continue to go to therapy.

I really enjoyed the storyline they gave us at the end of season 3 with Owen returning to California to say goodbye to his father.

I could see the half-brother doing the same thing, coming to Austin trying to connect to his father's past. I also love that irl the actor playing Owen's half-brother is Rob Lowe's brother. That is cool!

Owen telling TK about his past. Does TK know he's named after Owen's brother?

I want Owen and Catherine back together - I know they're toxic af, but I love two type-A characters bouncing off each other!

TK/Carlos (they're together because their relationship is a main storyline)

Jesus....

If they injure this man again...*clenches fist*

Role reverse with Carlos? Carlos gets injured, and TK is at the bedside.

Here's how I would do it: Carlos takes his detective test, passes. Gets put on this high profile case. While investigating, gets kidnapped. Not just for several hours like TK/Tommy/Nancy is that one episode, but for weeks. Then the TK sobriety storyline could tie into this as well. Obviously, when he is found he's relatively okay. They could also tie this into the Judd PTSD storyline too.

Tarlos wedding

less fade to black scenes...this is why I wish that this show wasn't on cable TV. They do fade to black for all the romance aspects. Nancy and Mateo, TK and Carlos, Owen and Catherine.

Paul

I just want this man to be HAPPY! Please 🙏

I would love to see the sister come back in some way, that would be a cool idea

Judd

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Wyatt storyline! I think it saved his character tbh

I would love to see more from this storyline, but from the season 3 finale it made it seem like Wyatt is going off to college and won't be around.

More about the accident at the beginning of the show. PTSD doesn't just go away like they portrayed.

Maybe during a BBQ the grill does that thing that grills do where the flame

Marjan

Much like Paul, I want Marjan to be on a call and click with someone they are saving.

Maybe she gets hurt on a call. Nothing big, but needs to be out for a couple weeks.

She bumps into this person during that time and starts to secretly date them.

OF COURSE Paul is the first to sniff that shit out! He is her BFF, obviously!

Nancy

GIVE ME A NANCY BACKSTORY!

I want to know why she decided to become an EMT. In the O.G. 911 they did this for Hen and it was a really cool concept.

Similar, there is an episode where she talks about her sister, show me the family!!!

More scenes between her and Mateo. I STG is the writers make them break up I will do something detrimental...

Mateo

(similar to Nancy) GIVE ME A BACKSTORY!!

They hinted at a backstory several times: Dad being in Guadalajara, and being a DREAMER. That is great bones for a backstory! Just saying.

You can tell that Mateo and Nancy's characters were never meant to be apart of the ensemble, but the audience loved their characters so much that they now have storylines. I am excited to see where the writers take them.

Tommy

One of the twins starts getting in trouble at school

Maybe series finale, or series middle finale the twin sets a fire in the school? Or does that seem too much?

Tommy embracing the single Mom life, finally feeling steady in her routine.

It also would be a good idea for Tommy to think that she see's her late husband at one of their scenes. Starts seeing him everywhere. It's not him though, just a man that looks like him.

What I would write

🚑 Judd goes to surprise visit Wyatt, only to find out that he dropped out of college. He can't get a hold of him, and goes to work. On a call, a new firehouse shows up with fancy gear, tech, truck and their new tech guy...Wyatt.

🚒 Add a single season character, who's exit at the end of the season makes for good drama! AKA this character gets k!lled off. My initial thoughts would be a untamable, young firefighter with survivors guilt, like Judd, gets sent to Owens team

you shouldn’t read this. it’s unsettling, I suppose. trigger warnings for anyone who suffers from mental illness. I just need to write it down for the therapeutic aspect. I will most likely delete this in a few minutes.

I’m pretty sure tumblr hides this kind of content anyway. [remember that this is the site that intervenes using koko, which has used ChatGPT for an AI chatbot experiment without the consent of users.] tumblr doesn’t have the best track record for issues like this.

I need a sleepover with my therapist and psychiatrist where we can watch silly movies in our pyjamas and make jokes about boyfriends and girlfriends.

I need there to be an option for immediate overnight psychiatric treatment where I can be monitored closely for a few days and have the intervention of specialists to make necessary adjustments to medication, but where I don’t have to get there by showing up at an ER and saying that if I go home I’m going to slash my forearm open with a boxcutter (I’m not sure how likely that specific scenario is, given that I’m squeamish about forearms, but I do feel a need to cut, and I’m not a cutter; maybe I just need to inject something hard into my veins? I can see the appeal of heroin in desperate times). I’m sure others feel the same obstacles in their path to recovery. it feels like all or nothing are the only options.

a few minutes ago I scheduled an appointment with my therapist for today at noon. at least that’s a positive step that I’ve made, and I did it on my own, instead of burdening my ex-wife with something she’s not entirely equipped to handle emotionally.

it’s all so sudden. have my triggers always worked so quickly? is this a full-blown episode? I don’t know, but I don’t have answers, and I don’t feel like I’ve got control of my own mind, and being aware of that just makes it worse.

a big fuck you to my immune system for attacking me back in 2015.

hey can i know how do you create gifs?

hi!! sorry for taking a while, and i had a whole response written out before tumblr ate it arghhh! anyway i'm not the best at giving advice but i will try~ i hope this helps, feel free to ask questions any time <3

ok so firstly i use high quality videos as much as possible. ideally 1080p/4k or .ts files for performances. i rarely use 720p, as they aren't always the best to work with. i use 4k video downloader to download videos, and soshistagram to download vlive videos!

i use vapoursynth to make my gifs.

i didn't actually add my settings here, but i typically use 0.80 finesharp as shown in top right. sometimes 0.60. for performances i use the preprocessor setting at 60 fps fast and set KNLM to 1.60-2.00. this isn't relevant here! when i save my gifs i export them as a gif at 0.05 secs. most people export to a MOV which probably retains quality, however this option doesn’t work for me so i have to export as gifs ... saving as a gif twice probably lowers quality and is partly why mine end up grainy a lot i stg so i think the exporting as MOV method works better? anyway there is a vapoursynth tutorial here that i like, and it explains the settings and MOV method in more detail.

i use photoshop to edit my gifs. i have photoshop cc 2015. it’s an old version yeah but i’m too tight to pay for a new version when mine works just fine <3

and then i colour it!! i tend to use selective colour, exposure and levels layers the most. sometimes colour fill!! i believe colouring is an experimental process and there is no right or wrong way. i have set psds that i use and work from, i have my basic psd that i made and i always tweak it for generic gifs like these.

where i circled in blue is the adjustment layers button, here you can choose from many adjustments and find what works for you

then we file > export > save for web once we have finished colouring

here’s my settings! i think lol my laptop recently reset itself and therefore everything reset with it. i definitely know i use adaptive & pattern most of the time, sometimes diffusion. i can’t remember which quality i use but i set it to bicubic smoother this time. idk what that setting really does adhfksfj

here is my gif after colouring!! i deleted the stray frames too to make it smoother~ and i’ve made a bigger watermark hehe ...

Writing’s kinda like acting well: get in your characters heads! (and I mean ALL of your characters--even your villains. ESPECIALLY your villains)

My writing process is a mess don’t follow it XD

I think one of my favorite pieces of advice is the fact that creators are ruined by all the answers XD. Like, idk if that makes sense but basically: as the author/ artist/ creator you see everything that goes into making your work work which means you can’t really ever know what the polished piece looks like.

I mean, if you want visuals being a creator is only seeing the back of your cross stitch, while your readers/ consumers only see the front final image.

(this wonderful Elizabeth Cady Stanton found here is a great example but Tumblr is being stupid and won’t let me post it in the actual answer XD)

To us, it’ll always look a bit unfinished or wonky, because we know just about all the details!!

The point I’m trying to go for is that: as the creator you can’t really know whether or not your work makes sense or is “put together” it’s why I love getting feedback so much--I’m an addict. For one: it’s hugely encouraging to get compliments and reactions (+ a nice boost to the ego ;) XD) but, at least for me, I’m always terrified nothing in my stories makes sense!

Having aid that, fleshing out details/ building on them is still important and I think it’s one of the most important things about writing. I’m assuming you’re meaning just general ideas, in which case--write it down. al;ksdjfajk I know that seems obvious but at least for me I write everything down OBSESSIVELY, and I delete NOTHING. I have a whole doc where I copy paste sections that I want to remove just so I have all of it, becuase you never know when it might make sense later or come back to you!

I guess what I’m trying to say is--HOARD YOUR WRITING!!! Even the stuff that’s cringy and stupid and kind of makes you wanna throw up because oh my god did I really write liek that??? One of the first things I ever wrote was basically a rewrite of this one youtube minecraft series I liked, I think I was like 12 and it was cheesy and all over the place and just utter garbage nonsense. Everytime I look at it I cringe because oh GOD, but I kept that shit! BUT! One of the side characters was a stroke of accidental genius and I’ve been trying to replicate it since! XD

K I got a little away from myself but also: building and fleshing out ideas is...... a unique process. It’s not like physically building something, because at least with that there’s specific ways to go about doing it, but it’s more like.... idk taking pieces from other people until you get the strategy you want.

I’m a dumbass with ADHD so my strategy is the Jack Karouac. He was a classic american author known for his book “On the Road” which he famously wrote all in one 3-week sitting. He used a roll of ticker paper so he didn’t have to change it on his type writer and just wrote.

When I get an idea I sit down and just write everything out, my strategy is usually to frame it like I’m writing a letter to someone--YES snarky commentary included! XD--it just helps flow things.

So say I have an idea for a story, first I write an into something kinda stupid like “Ok I just came up with this like four seconds ago and now I need to write it out” and then I start with the most vivid details and go from there. Usually that means characters, I’ll describe them only as they pop up in my head (sometimes this means everything from name down to the way they tie their shoelaces and sometimes it’s just ‘best friend of mc’), then I work my way out from there, asking questions and writing the plot out.

Questions are worldbuilding things like “is this world like earth? is it in this time period? if it isn’t what time period? why that time period? this persons job is x, why? when did boy-next-door move in? why is there that scar on her face?” and usually while this is happening I’ll come up with little dialogue snippets that I just dump into a “Snippets” pile XD. Again--those are sometimes full pages of scenes I’m thinking of, or just dialogue bits I want to use or just more character quirks.

Once I’ve done that I drop it all and leave. Go for a run or a walk or make some food or whatever and DO NOT touch it or even THINK about it for at least a day. Then, come back and read over what you’ve got and fidget with it until you’ve got something at least resembling a story XD.

K wow this got long but lastly: Characters make worlds! If you’ve got kinda iffy world building or a plot you’re not very happy with, as long as the characters are enjoyable and real people will like it. Idk if you’ve read the All For the Game series but the world building is GARBAGE. lakjdsf;klj that’s not an exaggeration: a kids dad is a mob boss who works for the Japanese Yakuza who also run a fictional sport called Exy and regularly torture/ brainwash people. That’s just wild right there--BUT people adore it because the Characters are interesting and real.

Another example is the Green Creek series: I love those books to death but I stg Klune just recycles the same plot/ character drama every book and I STILL go back and reread them because the CHARACTERS!! And a LOT of people love those books despite the fact that they’re all basically the same.

Characters. Make. the. Story.

Idk, maybe I put too much weight on characters and I don’t know what I’m talking about, but--at least for me--I put the MOST effort into making my characters real and something people will be interested by and hopefully connect with, and I think it works out ok XD

Hummus

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader

Summary: Making lunch for your picnic, Bucky doesn’t expect much out of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. He is very wrong.

Warnings: set in Wakanda, infinity war never freaking happened, so much fluff I stg, one sexual innuendo

Word Count: 2,027

A/N: if you voted earlier this week for Bucky discovering hummus, here it is! (re-uploaded because my tumblr got deleted)

Hot fingers ran along the skin of your ankle, feeling for the delicate bones that gave it shape. You felt most at ease watching him innocently feel you. He did it everywhere his hand could reach.

Seeing Bucky rediscover you, what it meant to be human again, was as wholesome as it got. That boy really did deserve the whole world.

Just a small touch reassured Bucky for hours. Even if you were just grazing shoulders, it soothed him. After he came out of cryofreeze, physical contact became essential to Bucky’s well being. He needed it.

He wrapped his hand around your ankle, pulling you closer, and putting your feet between his thighs.

Your attempt to suppress a smile failed when he shot you that famously cheeky grin.

Bucky had you almost swaddled in the blanket you kept on his couch to prevent you from complaining how cold it was. If he had a nickel for every time you asked for his jacket, he could buy a penthouse in Manhattan. It didn’t help that the two of you had just been in the lake. Having wet hair only added to your ongoing problem.

You developed the habit of putting your cold hands and feet on him, so much so that Bucky just gave in and embraced it.

This had become a ritual of yours when you visited him in Wakanda. At first it was just for a weekend, and then for a week. Right now you were going on about a month of your stay with him. You’d wake up early, lie around the house, tend to his goats when you needed to, have small picnics, and enjoy the life inside the hidden country.

Early morning was his favorite. Getting to watch in awe as you woke up; not having to worry about losing sleep with a numb arm underneath you since he didn’t have one. Those dimly lit hours when no one was awake and he could take you to the vast body of water where he bathed under the pink hue of the sky.

The sun would still be coming up and it was practically dark out. Bucky got to spend quiet, intimate time with you, sharing soft kisses as you both tried to wake up. You helped him wash his hair and make sure he didn’t step in too deep.

“This one?” you pointed to the small hut adjacent to the water.

Bucky nodded, putting his hair back up in a lopsided bun as he led you in. Bending to fit in the doorway, he handed you a towel and grabbed one for himself. The king had been so gracious to him; giving him a bigger apartment style house for when he got visitors.

The towel was tied around him, covering the one arm. You were impressed. He could do so much with just the one.

Water droplets scattered his legs as he stepped toward you, creating puddles in his path, “I’m in love with you.” He nuzzled into your side and let you hold him, all relaxed and clean.

“Get dressed, Buck, you don’t live on a farm,” you joked.

The damp man only smirked, “You know I do live on a farm, Y/N? You’re not funny. I’ve been bracing myself for that one.”

You playfully hit his chest, “Steve or Sam?”

“Both.”

He only lay half covered by the blanket, your feet tucked in his lap, fitting comfortably between you and the back of the couch without his left arm. Bucky was his own heatsource and there wasn’t anything worse than that thick blanket you always got him in; only for him to come out from under it with his skin in flames.

You compromised this way. Tangled together, breathing each other’s air, you engulfed in your blanket, and Bucky sprawled out beside you. This was your day to day with him. When your soldier had come out of cryo, T’Challa insisted he take it easy.

Instead of weapons, Bucky got goats. And when you visited, he got even more than that.

“I don’t like this show,” you yawned, kicking lightly against Bucky’s thigh.

The man groaned and leaned further into you, his hair tickling your neck, “Nothing good is ever on.”

The loose tendrils would be in your fingers by then had your arms not been confined within the blanket, “You gotta get the remote, Bucky.”

Blue eyes crinkled up at you and laughed, realizing you couldn’t change the channel. The one-armed man pushed on your leg to let you know he was getting up. You’d become accustomed to the help Bucky needed without both arms, letting him use your leg as a prop so he could sit up.

He crouched down to retrieve the remote and stood for a solid six minutes, flipping through channels and shifting his weight from one foot to the other.

“Come lay back down,” you whined playfully, unsure if he’d just forgotten to sit once the remote was off of the floor.

Stray hairs hugged his face and he blew them away, “M’gonna make lunch. Did you get more groceries?”

You nodded, admiring the way Bucky rolled up the sleeve on his left arm. He was a bit shy going into the city; his comfortability being within his hut and surrounded by those living nearby.

“What?” he backtracked his steps so he could lean over you. You wiggled one arm free to take the side of his face in your hand, thumb caressing the beard he’d grown out. Traveling down to his shoulder, you held the metal piece where his arm would be.

“I love you too. I’m happy you’re comfortable with me.”

Bucky glanced at where your hand was on the metal shoulder and put his hand over yours, “Y/N I have no reason to be ashamed.” He pecked your upside down face and laughed as you scrunched your nose, “If you keep being cute like that I might not end up making us lunch for later.”

You rolled your eyes and hid your face, “It’s too early for that.”

The hungry man stood back up, “It’s never too early to show some good appreciation, doll.”

“Oh hush.”

He laughed to himself and made way for the kitchen. Picnics by the beach had become more frequent with the two of you. Twice a week you took turns making lunch and preparing a basket. Bucky pulled his shawl further down, “Do peanut butter and jelly sandwiches sound alright?”

You gave a hum from the living room and he cherished the memory of how his mother would make him and his sisters peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch everyday. He grew sick of them but craved it at the moment; not having one in about seventy years.

Bucky opened the refrigerator, reaching for the strawberry and grape jellies, almost hitting his head on the shelf. Confusion took over his expression, eliciting him to mutter, “What?”

The cold jars were set on the tabletop and he turned back to the fridge. There was no way you’d put the peanut butter in there. Didn’t it go in the pantry?

A short laugh escaped him, shaking his head he pulled out the container. You did odd things sometimes, like put milk in the cabinet on accident. He shrugged his shoulders and grabbed the bread.

Bread was one of the most difficult of tasks to complete with only one arm. The twist tie angered him so much once that he just used scissors to cut open the plastic wrap. His bread went stale very quickly that week.

Four slices were placed neatly on the counter and Bucky grabbed a knife to spread the jelly. You both enjoyed each of the flavors so he started spreading with strawberry and moved down to grape.

The jars were returned to their rightful spots in the fridge and Bucky lifted the lid on the peanut butter.

He looked up at where you were on the couch watching the tv and looked back down to his favorite childhood snack, “Alright then.”

Sticking the knife in his mouth, Bucky sucked the jelly from the knife and put it into the new spread. It was surprisingly easier to scoop than he remembered. Creamy peanut butter must have a different meaning in the twenty-first century than it did in the forties. It didn’t have that honey scent to it either.

Bucky put knife to bread and was relieved when it went on so smoothly. He hadn’t made peanut butter sandwiches in a long time and was happy he didn’t have to ask for your assistance. Peanut butter used to be much tougher to distribute without tearing the bread and with one arm it would’ve been even worse.

The lid made a snap when he closed it up, prompting you to turn over on the couch, ready to help him with the rest.

Mirroring his earlier actions, the knife went back into his mouth.

You heard Bucky’s gag echo throughout the room. His face was all bent out of shape, waving the knife around and tossing it into the sink, “What the fuck!?” He repeatedly stuck out his tongue and shook his head.

“What happened?” you unwrapped yourself from the blanket and tried to stifle your giggles at the faces he was making, almost tripping on your way into the kitchen.

“You’re peanut butter is expired,” he griped, looking upsettingly disappointed in what he’d just eaten, the lines in his forehead more present than ever.

The poor man’s bun had fallen loose and he was struggling with the cloth wrapped around his torso. You went behind him to close the refrigerator door and then took his hair down, fixing it for him. “I bought it Monday Bucky, there’s no way it’s expired already.”

He huffed and stood up straighter for you to tie a new knot in his cloth, “Well it tastes awful. Don’t buy that brand again.”

You walked over to the pantry and pulled out the unopened jar of peanut butter. The lid said it wouldn’t expire for another three months.

“Buck?”

“What?” he asked, moping about the bread he thought he’d just wasted.

“What brand of peanut butter did you use?” you bit the inside of your cheek, almost certain of what he’d used instead.

Bucky ran the water in the sink and cleaned off the knife he used, “Humoose? I don’t know.” He went to open the fridge door again and pulled it out for you to see.

When he faced you he realized what had happened. You held the brand new jar of peanut butter in your hand, “That would be hummus, Bucky.”

“What the fuck is hummus?”

Somehow you’d managed to pack your basket in time for lunch. Needless to say, there was a small mess in the kitchen and Bucky had forgotten his shoes. He was fine until you got on the hot sand.

He stood in the grass until you put the beach blanket down and you could throw him your shoes. Bucky looked like the most out of place person there with his expensive sunglasses and sandals he could barely squeeze into. Breadstick, the goat, was following him as well, hopeful to find her favorite snack in the basket.

The tiniest goat had very forcefully worked her way into Bucky’s heart after continuously stealing his snacks for when he was working.

She bleated only once and minded her own business after being tossed broken up pieces of a breadstick.

You helped Bucky pull out the food, keeping your drinks in the cooler bag, and lay it all out on the blanket. Bucky rushed to open the bag of pita bread, ignoring the sandwiches he’d made earlier.

“Y/N.”

“What?” your hummus and jelly sandwich filling your mouth.

Your super soldier wiped away the crumbs on your face, “Hummus me.”

You complied, opening the container for him and handing him the knife. The hummus was half gone the next time you looked over, almost regretting that he now loved it. Bucky ate everything you bought and then some. You were just glad he was gaining his weight back.

“You know, these sandwiches are pretty alright too, Buck.”

Breadstick made herself known again, helping the man finish what was left of your hummus.

“Good girl.”

graham details

okay, I’m finally in a place where I can type this all out again (bc of course tumblr mobile glitched an deleted the last one when I tried to post it), I’ll try not to ramble too much and just stick to giving the basic details :’)

the meet n’ greet package had two parts, we got to sit in for the soundcheck, an we got to go backstage with him during intermission

the soundcheck was amazing, there were only like five of us in the audience, and he an his guitarist were just obviously having so much fun an kept giving us all smiles. then at the end, graham noticed how much I was shaking, so he leaned over an asked my name (which I was barely able to get out), and if I was doing alright (I just nodded an I’m pretty sure I started shaking more), so he just grinned an pretended to shiver an said “it is kind of chilly in here!” an gave me this rlly comforting smile before they all walked off backstage, so I was basically already dying before the show even started

then the first half of the show went down, and holy shit, it was so good, he told all these hilarious stories in between songs about all the different musicians he’d worked with :’) an I was right up front bc the package came w front row seats so he flashed me a few more smiles

and then, the actual meet n’ greet....... omg, I was seriously shaking so hard an I could barely talk, an he kept hugging me an putting his arm around my shoulders while he talked to the couple other people there, then when he was done he started talking to me an he remembered my name 😭 an I was finally able to compose myself enough to ask him the main question I wanted to ask, bc I noticed some lyrics in one of his solo songs seemed to reference a hollies song that he’d written an I wanted to know if it was intentional bc I couldn’t find any confirmation online. he seemed super surprised an impressed an told me that it was (his guitarist told me after that he didn’t think he’d ever been asked that). so then I started rambling how much I loved the hollies an how songs for beginners (the solo album that the song I asked about was on) is one of my all-time favorite albums, an he seemed super flattered, an hugged me again before he had to go to get back on stage

then the second half happened, and...... I still can’t believe this happened, he went to play the first hollies song of the night, then paused, an said that he knew there was someone who was particularly excited for this, then he said, an I stg it was in exactly these words, “I’d like to dedicate this song to my new friend (the name I go by irl), an he pointed at me an I fucking melted???

and then!!!!! after the show was over, he gave me another smile, then whispered something to his guitarist, who ran up to the edge of the stage and personally handed me graham’s setlist, and I swear I started crying it was so fucking amazing an overwhelming (in the best possible way) an I barely remember the walk back to the hotel bc I was just reliving the moment over an over :’)))

honestly I think it was the best night of my life, like, even when I was imagining the best case scenario for how this would go it wasn’t even nearly this amazing an I’m about to cry again just remembering

I'm confused about how it can be arbitrary to define sex as binary. Obviously intersex people exist, but it's not normal for our species and usually hinders the person's reproduction (purpose of sex organs). Aren't you implying that very consistent anatomy should be ignored because of few anomalies? Isn't it okay to recognize it as an abnormality, but one that generally doesn't harm the person and shouldn't be "fixed" without their consent? Abnormal =/= bad but a general binary definitely exists

Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that I accept that you’re genuinely confused and not baiting. (For the record, you sound like a top ten list of queerphobic dog whistles, but you could possibly be doing that by accident. It’s happened before to well-meaning folks over-exposed to bs.)

No argument about “normal for our species” is EVER going to fly with me. Ever. Lines about reproduction have been hurled at queer people for far longer than I’ve been alive, and they’ve always been wrong. We find more and more queer animals in the wild the more years that go by. So nope, no armchair biology here. Actual biologists would laugh long and hard because:

All the species we’re most closely related to use sex as a social bonding tool

Numerous individual mammals and birds have been observed in queer relationships

Sex organs are messy things and some species happily switch ‘em up

We don’t all need to reproduce in order to continue our species

Plenty of intersex people can reproduce, not that they need to in order to be considered “normal”

“Obviously intersex people exist” - how about 1.5+% of the population, close to the number of autistic people. Feelin’ it now?

Also, our lines are absolutely arbitrary. The US has a 2.5 standard deviations rule. This refers to the size of the penis/clitoris at birth. It’s literally a size rule that determines whether doctors will offer or even strongly encourage surgery on an unconsenting infant in order to force their visible external sex organs to conform to an imaginary gender binary. (These offers are often accompanied by scaring parents that their child will be an unhappy outcast forever if they don’t do surgery now now now.) It says nothing about chromosomes, internal organs, hormones, etc. There are a whole lot of ways to be intersex, and a lot of them show up during puberty (which is another common period of forced surgeries). So yes, if you’ve never heard of micropenis, maybe you wouldn’t think it’s arbitrary, but it absolutely is. It’s forced conformity.

“very consistent anatomy“ AHAHAHAHA Omg, where did you get your science education? Human anatomy is in no way consistent, most especially in primary and secondary sexual characteristics. I have read treatises from the 19th century talking about women with 2-inch clitorises, so this isn’t some BGH-driven wild side - it’s normal. I have seen women (not on hormones) with beards. Vaginas come in a wild variety of shapes and sizes, some of them structured so that penetration is painful, some so it’s impossible. Cis women are often born with 1 or 0 ovaries. Uteruses are not uniform in structure or even presence - cis women are born without them sometimes. The urethra effing migrates, I stg. Boobs come in every shape and size, including virtually nonexistent. Body hair and hip width and everything else we associate with “female” varies so widely as to basically be useless as gender indicators, even among cis people.

But you know what? Even if all that weren’t true, I would never call someone “abnormal” or an “anomaly” for being a small population. Less than 2% of the world are redheads - do you call them anomalies and abnormal and say we shouldn’t adjust our understanding of hair color and genetics to account for them?

As for “hindering reproduction”, you can fuck all the way off on that one. First of all, involuntary sex assignment surgery is often what renders intersex people infertile - many intersex people actually are fertile if left the fuck alone. Second, there are a lot of things that can hinder reproduction, and everyone involved is still a human being. We don’t suddenly pretend they don’t exist because of that, or that everyone who can’t or doesn’t have kids is suddenly some bizarre outlier who shouldn’t be counted in our understanding of the world.

In conclusion: Do not come onto my blog and try to medicalize intersex people’s bodies or treat intersex people like freaks or call them abnormal. Intersex people are people, are part of the normal variation of human bodies, belong in our queer community, and aren’t going around calling you an anomaly. Even if, by throwing around fake biological assertions, you make yourself sound like a fundie.

Also no, the gender binary doesn’t exist and is made up. Go read a Queer History book on constructions of gender, I don’t have time to teach you a full college course on tumblr dot com.
