I see everyone's touch-starved Jamie Tartts and the queer-platonic Two Aces and the in-therapy Roy Kents and I love them all endlessly. I also raise you:
Roy Kent who's been half-starved for regular platonic intimacy for his entire life. He's in therapy and he's sad and he's lonely and he's angry all the time, but somehow he's tricked Jamie into thinking he is safe to be around. And then they share a bed sometimes, because life is hard.
Roy's mind probed at the situation like a tongue looking for a freshly missing tooth and finding a gap, an emptiness where the pain used to be. Still--
"I swear to God if I turn around and you're not wearing any pants," he warned.
Jamie broke into giggles behind him. The thought crossed his mind--if this is a fucking prank--but for once the heat of outrage didn't leap readily into his hands.
The bed dipped. Jamie scooted closer, and the unmistakable texture of trackies brushed against the back of Roy's legs.
"Nah. Decided I'm gonna sweat my arse off for you. Prick."
Roy grunted. "Then you can run the laundry tomorrow."
"Fuck that. If anything, you're making me breakfast in the morning in return for dragging your old man legs up the stairs. Now come here, you lug."
That was all the warning Roy had before a stupidly-tattooed arm wrapped around his midsection, reeling him backwards until he was pressed against Jamie's chest like his own personal teddy bear.
Fucking champagne and video games and mockery over his taste in furniture and now this. One of these days he was going to have to draw a line. He was the gaffer now--Jamie knew he was the gaffer now--and he owed it to the both of them to put some boundaries in place.
Jamie dropped his head against the back of Roy's neck, a soft and careful weight that was becoming increasingly familiar. Voice slackened with the hour, he murmured contentedly, "You're a fuckin' furnace. M' top half's not going t' get cold at all."
Boundaries were a lot to ask for with the clock pressing midnight. It could wait until morning.

Tangentially related to some of the discussion i posted earlier but quiet literally the first RW Art Month i participated I did it completely on whim like, one day before it started. And I mostly did it because I hadn't drawn a ton of rain world and wanted to draw more. Fandom presence was a lot smaller than and I was one of a handful of artists who did the entire thing. Fast forward and I still do Art Month and I've gotten to work with VC directly.
But it was quite literally something I decided to do completely on whim that set the ball rolling, and for something a lil more niche and certainly with a lot more dev/fandom art involvement than most. It's really random how and why you might get noticed more than usual, especially with the "toss it into the search and hope it pays out' mechanism of Socmed
#t.extpost#and im hardly the fanciest art month artist out there so it wasnt even about being a jaw droppingly talented artist or whatever#and while artmonth for rw is still given a huge focus its also a much much bigger thing now with a much bigger number of participants#which is cool! its awesome how many people i saw do most if not all of last art month! and VC is really good about not just repping the#most popular artists or fanciest pieces#but theres So Much More there now and while its great for finding artists its also impossible to get Everyone in there you know?#Although they absolutely try#And this is like. one of the most fanartist involved devs ive ever seen in terms of both celebrating the art their fans make and actively#bringing those fans in to contribute#and its /still/ hard to get going just because thats how Posting is#i used to be more of a hk artist which is both a huge fandom and riddled with stunning artists but theres So Many#and niche fandoms are niche so youre more likely to connect with people but less likely to see a ton of engagement regularly -#probably best example i have for that was being briefly fixated on patapon.#Its just messy to try and find the hack that sets you up#just have fun and jump around and make what you like#get a sense of feeling for your style and some people will stick around for that vs. strictly the subject matter#others will look up the thing you switched too and some wont engage#you cant really control it#so have fun and draw that thing you randomly thought about at 2 am that doesnt match your blog#draw for that forgotten rpg you liked when you were 15 or draw for the 70 player max steam game you played for this week#you never really know what will happen#but its not really worth worrying about what will happen either

google how to not be sosososo anxious all the time. its not even like stress that motivates me to get things done it's just like. i make a mistake and misunderstood instructions in class and my teacher is like "you were supposed to figure out precisely where 180 was before taping the draft and punching your marks" when i like an idiot guesstimated it and after a moment of me going "oh..." bc its something i can't fix bc i've already punched in all the holes on the part he's like "i think you'll be okay" and goes back to what he's doing and then for three hours im like he's so annoyed with me i bring things to him too much and ask him too many questions and make the stupidest mistakes every day he hates me. i ask a friend something and they don't respond because they're busy or forget about it or don't see it or any number of other reasons and then a couple weeks later i send them something else and they don't respond for a few hours and its enough time for me to convince myself i said something a while ago that they took offense to without realizing and they're ignoring me and i send another message saying "are you mad at me did i do something can you tell me what i did so we can work it out" and he's like "what?". a friend posts about people treating them badly in a way that's clear they're talking about a specific phenomenon or person and im always like omg are they talking about me did i do something bad and not realize it... and its someone i talk to so infrequently and casually it obviously would not be a concern or someone i've known for so many years that they would obviously come to me if there was any conflict that arose. help

#thanks to the doctor making me go to the nurse this summer and putting me on a 'diet'#WHEN THE NURSE HERSELF SAID I SHOULDNT BE TOO CONCERNED ABT MY WEIGHT bc im young and i shouldnt worry about this#and now my mom wont. stop. making. comments. on what i eat and the excercise i dont do#and the way i eat and when i eat#and its finally eaten at my brain. and now i think about it constantly#and i wanna make it stop bc i cant fucking believe that i didnt listen to her at all when i was at my most vulnerable (a teenager)#but her words have had their effect when i am/should be more ok w myself (not a teenager anymore)#like genuinely how do i stop making myself feel like this and think about this all the time i feel disgusting. i dont enjoy eating anymore#bc im constantly thinking about /not/ eating. or how i shouldnt be eating. or that i shouldnt be hungry#z xarre#AAAAAAANNDDDD i have to go to the n*rse next month to get weighed. and i already know that ill have gained weight. bc at the dorms#i cant like. follow the diet they gave me or whatever. and i eat more and im also hungrier. its so hard to think of eating#as something enjoyable now. literally wanna kms ive never been like this. we've always enjoyed food in my family#bc its the main way we connect and i can connect w my family and my ancestors and my culture.#and i dont wanna stop enjoying food. but the nurse and doctor AND MY MOTHER are making this so hard.#ed mention#weight mention

ending sucks ass and i need to workshop it but that's the general idea. I think it would start off quite comedic like arghhh i put down my glasses half a century ago and now im a short sighted ghost ☹️ like the idea is their clothing is ghostly insofar its connected to them. you cant have a ghost-jacket so once the ghost takes its jacket off it stops existing and that would progressively turn a little more tragic when it becomes parts of themselves they forget. like when you walk so long your legs turn numb and you forget they exist. or when you catch a glimpse of your reflection in a mirror and are surprised to see you have a body. you have to be quiet for a long period of time and are scared you've lost your voice forever (idk if that one's universal tbh). i think the ending sucks because its too sentimental but the general idea is once they forget they're dead they're no longer dead, but they're also not alive so they just stop existing.
