Mercedes Benz C-111-II prototype, 1970 Originally, this car was fitted with a Wankel type piston-less rotary engine, but Daimler Benz was dissatisfied with the lack of longevity of the power plant and gave up on the concept. The car was later used as a test bed for high-power Diesel motors.
