Have you seen this childhood show: Pocoyo (2005-Present), United Kingdom and Spain (English and Spanish)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Commentary/Context/Memories: I really wanted to live in that world.
This show was submitted twice!
[Mod A: I definitely recognize the characters (especially Elly the Elephant) but I don’t think I’ve actually seen the show (was too old for it). Pocoyo comes from two words in spanish: “shoes” (which also means “little”) and “me”, so the name means “little me”. It is about Pocoyo’s every-day adventures with his animal friends, in particular Elly the Elephant and Pato the Duck (whose bill turns 360 degrees) and solve their daily issues. Each character has a specific sound/dance. A fun fact that I didn’t know is that Stephen Fry narrated the English version (first two seasons)! Apparently the 2024 season will have significant changes for the characters designs and introduce new characters such as Pocoyo's little sister, Pocoyina (I don’t know how fans of this show are feeling about this haha)]

And I am going to end my El Internado rewatch posts on Ivan and Marcos, who started the show by wanting to punch each other’s teeth in and ended up as best of everything, incandescently happy and utterly free, having burned down the Nazi school from hell to the ground.
This was a rare show that held up on rewatch - I still laughed and sniffled and shipped and raged and swooned. It had some awesome performances and characters but was held together by really solid writing that knew what to keep and to discard and aaaaaaaa such a pleasure!
And yes, Ivan x Julia are still in my Top 5 tv OTPs and Ivan in top 5 fave TV characters. Here we are.

Julio + Alicia || Daylight (Season 2)
Well finished season 2 - I thank the writer for the hidden room storyline - episode 8 was truly beautiful!
I know depending on where you watch depends when Season 2 ends but where I was watching they had it end at new year (makes sense) so I stuck with that as noticed on Wiki it had it end at episode 8
I just wish I could find the clips with better quality :(

Ramon Madaula as Don Gonzalo Chacón in Isabel.
I’m only three episodes into this series (and a decade late) and I love him, I love him, I love him, Your Honor.

Spanish Grind
Alright, with only 2 weeks left until the start of school, it's time to get serious.
If anyone has any movies, shows, games, books, etc for Spanish learning, HIT ME UP
A life of laziness and low motivation has taught me that when people have high expectations of you they usually say it more in threat than in practice, but I actually would like to improve. So I need stuff to force me into it😅
You can make music suggestions, but I'm technically already set on that front thanks to the wondrous genre called latin rock
^that's probably not the real genre name but anyway
I tried finding shows a while back, but the only things I really see in lists are super recent shows (2020-2023), soap operas (I will check those out but I think they speak too fast for my current level), or netflix-esque dramas (teens+nsfw+substance abuse). I'm not big on scifi.. but if there's any shows that look good or that you happen to like, share them with me regardless of genre!! Who knows, I might end up liking it :D
Um and if there happens to be any shows about lawyers or something, that might be useful. We have to write a lot of emails this year.
To anyone seeing this and making a suggestion- thank you! I hope you have a wonderful day

Does anyone have any film/TV show recs with fantasy/sci-fi elements and/or queer main characters from Spain? I want to live there eventually so I need to hear the way they pronounce their Spanish. I live in Texas so I'm only familiar with Latin American accents, and I've been told they're very different. It'll also expand my Spanish vocabulary, which is quite important. Please and thank you!

1966 Escala en Hi-Fi TV chapter featuring María Montez II as the white rabbit and an actress as Little Red Riding Hood.
Screencaps from RTVE.ES, great page featuring the emission of each TV episode but this... I hope one day we'll have it!!

Meanwhile in Spain: someone will remember during their entire life that time they had to design a background with drug smuggler pigeons for the evening Newcast.
Best day of their lives, probably. Not the pigeons'. The designer. 10/10.

I love that they did not drag out her discovery he’s not a guest, that he’s reasonable enough to tell her the truth and she’s reasonable enough to believe and agree.

Like!!!! They both act like adult, functional humans!!! Do you know how rare that is in a show?
PS Man, her arranged fiance is slimy from the get go!

When he told this to Alicia, he really meant it. See him celebrate his engagement to Alicia by banging Belen!

There's a show I like and that I watched when it was airing, and later on Netflix but Netflix removed it... At least, for the US (idk about other countries) and I'm so so tempted to try my hand at putting English subtitles and posting it somewhere (tbh, idk where) for other folks to see. Because it's a good show but it's not in English, and it was already a bit of a chore for me to find reuploads online 😭
But subtitling 62 episodes... Especially when even I miss some words and have to Google wtf they mean... Idk man.
