IOTA Reviews: Conformation and Re-Creation (The Final Day)
Tumblr media
Well, here we are. The final two episodes of Season 5. It's been a long and complicated journey, so let me get you up to speed on what exactly happened this season, episode by episode.
Evolution: Ladybug and Cat Noir chase Monarch through time, and it's not nearly as cool as it sounds.
Multiplication: Adrien likes Marinette now because the plot says so.
Destruction: Cat Noir accidentally Cataclysms Monarch, and it somehow leads to the most guilt he feels using his Cataclysm on anyone.
Jubilation: Ever want to have the image of Ladybug and Cat Noir being teen parents burned into your brain? No? Too bad!
Illusion: Nino establishes himself as a leader so terrible, Zapp Brannigan would call him an idiot.
Determination: Marinette likes Cat Noir now because the plot says so.
Passion: Nathalie shows she'd rather silently judge Gabriel for his actions over actually doing anything to stop him.
Reunion: Marinette talks with the spirit of Joan of Arc, and it's not nearly as cool as it sounds.
Elation: Someone tries to murder Marinette over ice cream for the third time in four seasons.
Transmission: Yeah, I totally believe you're replacing Marinette and Adrien with two new main characters in the middle of your fifth season.
Deflagration: Because of Tikki and Plagg's terrible decisions, Monarch comes the closest he's ever come to winning.
Perfection: Kagami becomes a giant cloud Akuma, symbolizing her also becoming a total airhead for the rest of the season.
Migration: The writers realize they have no idea what to do with Luka, so they kick him out of the show entirely.
Derision: “How many things do you want to retcon to make this story work?” “Yes.”
Intuition: Gabriel continues to prove how pathetic of a villain he is, even when he has unlimited chances.
Protection: Even after being tricked three times by her, Kagami still thinks Lila is a trustworthy person.
Adoration: “We have Lumity at home”.
Emotion: The episode where Felix essentially commits genocide is somehow also the one where the writers want the audience to start viewing him in a sympathetic light.
Pretension: Felix likes Kagami because the plot says so, and vice versa.
Revelation: Lila only gets as far as she does thanks to Marinette becoming as dumb as the rest of the class.
Confrontation: Our heroes expose the villain's evil plans by spying on them through a bathroom peephole.
Collusion: Remember kids, violent revolutions against politicians are never the answer.
Revolution: Remember kids, violent revolutions against politicians are always the answer.
Representation: To the surprise of literally no one, Felix is revealed to be a Sentimonster, yet the writers still won't tell us that Adrien and Kagami are the same.
Now that you're all caught up, let's get into the twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth episode of Miraculous Ladybug's fifth season: Conformation and Re-Creation
After a brief news report showing everyone enjoying the first day of Summer vacation, Gabriel and Tomoe finally decide to launch “Perfect Alliance”. What does this plan entail? For starters, Gabriel transforms into Monarch, detransforms to akumatize himself into Nightormentor again, gives himself the powers of the Mouse, Rooster and Horse Miraculous in order to clone himself and fly around the globe to spread his nightmare dust. Because just akumatizing Sandboy again and giving him the Mouse Miraculous' Multitude was just too complex of a plan.
Marinette is the first to be affected by the dust, we get a dream where she dresses up as a knight to save Adrien from a cheap recolor of Fang in his dragon form.
Tumblr media
This is a weird episode of Super Why.
Marinette defeats the dragon, who reverts back to Gabriel, who is accidentally killed by the fight, causing Adrien to cry since Adrien was watching the whole thing. Marinette wakes up, thankful that it was all just a bad dream sequence. She decides she needs to find out just where Gabriel sent Adrien to make sure he's safe, something that won't make sense as I'll explain later on. As she tries to leave, she keeps experiencing sudden headaches, as do her parents and Alya.
Meanwhile, Adrien is still left reeling from the effects of the nightmare dust from last episode, to the point where he has a panic attack, demanding to be let out. Gabriel, seemingly aware of this, decides to give Adrien the “antidote”, an Alliance ring with an app called “Perfect Alliance”. So once again, despite claiming to do this for his son, Gabriel willingly chose to make his life worse as part of his evil plans. Remember this, it'll be important later on.
Plagg suggests Adrien transform into Cat Noir, but Adrien reminds him that there are cameras everywhere, so he can't risk it. Plagg disables the cameras, but Adrien still says no. Whether he was aware that the robot who was sent to give him the Alliance ring with the new app had a hidden camera is irrevelant, because Adrien gives a different reason why he can't transform.
Adrien: I'm not in my right mind. I'm too angry; at myself for falling short of Marinette's love, at my father for sending me here in London, at this stupid app and these rings that use my image... it makes me sick! This nightmare is giving me the horrible feeling that, if I transform, I'll get akumatized and destroy everything with my Cataclysm. Marinette, Ladybug...
Plagg: Surely Ladybug can help you.
Adrien: If I ask her for help, I'd have to give her information that would jeopardize my secret identity... and I can't.
youtube
Okay, let me make one thing clear. The reason that Adrien can't risk exposing his identity thanks to all the cameras is a good one, and the fact that he doesn't want to risk exposing his identity to Ladybug in particular is a good sign of character development, but the problem I have is the fact that the writers decided to bench Adrien in the first place.
Yes, you heard that right. In arguably the most boneheaded decision in the show's history since... well, a lot of things this season, Adrien, despite being the son of the main villain, isn't going to get involved in the final battle at all.
There are multiple reasons why Adrien staying put in this room is a terrible idea, and most of them involve the fact that almost none of the in-universe explanations for this hold up.
Adrien is being heavily monitored by cameras? We just saw Plagg was able to disable them with ease.
Adrien can't ask Ladybug for help without jeopardizing his secret identity? The fact that he's at risk of being akumatized as is, with or without the Cat Miraculous, will still blow his cover due to Monarch's mind reading abilities (which we saw when Monarch almost learned Luka's secret in “Migration”), so he really has nothing to lose here.
Adrien isn't in the right state of mind thanks to the nightmare dust? Literally every other character who takes part in the final battle is able to either find a way to fight off the nightmares or keeps going while still under the influence of the nightmare dust.
Adrien's ultimate plan to take off his Miraculous and let Plagg choose a new temporary holder? We saw this exact same scenario play out earlier this season in “The Kwamis' Choice”, and things went horribly, horribly wrong.
Do you see why this makes no sense? Even though the show loves to boast about how valuable of an asset Cat Noir is, the writers are bending over backwards to justify keeping Adrien as far away from the final battle as possible, because they know damn well that they'd have to address how terrible his father really is with the reveal.
And the best part? This is basically the last we'll see of Adrien in this episode. Do you want to know how many lines he gets in the next episode, AKA, the final episode of the season? Three. AND THEY'RE ALL AFTER THE FINAL BATTLE.
But we're not done talking about this stupid idea yet, because unlike the other episodes, I have something else to rant about: The writers' commentary. In November of 2023, around four months after the finale premiered, the writers of this show recorded their own audio commentary, and while I don't have the exact translation (if anyone reading this has a translation of this, I would really appreciate the effort), I have seen one post summarizing the things they said, and all I can say is DEAR. LORD. This is not just shooting yourself in the foot. This is shooting yourself in the foot multiple times with Judas Bullets.
Like, it's amazing. We've always speculated just what goes through the writers' heads that makes them come up with some of the strangest ideas to take the story, and now, we have a first-hand account of why these episodes turned out the way they did. For this one moment, they gave about three explanations as to why Adrien was benched for the finale.
Let's start with the first one, Cat Blanc. I know what you're thinking, wasn't Cat Blanc an Akuma from an alternate timeline that our Adrien shouldn't know about? Not according to Melenie Duval. While Adrien's fear of being akumatized is reasonable, Duval claims that he could become Cat Blanc... which makes no sense as A) Adrien's nightmare was of an entirely different Akuma, and B) The aforementioned nightmare dust never informed Adrien of the alternate timeline where Cat Blanc destroyed the world, it just provided him with a nightmare about a similar scenario.
And in case you weren't questioning this woman's judgment, Duval has done on the record to state that her favorite episode of the entire show is “Derision”.
Tumblr media
youtube
Our next reasoning is especially stupid, as the rest of the writing team reveal that they had planned to keep Adrien out of the final battle as far back as 2014, nine years before the finished product premiered. Why would they do that? Because they wanted Ladybug to unify with the Cat Miraculous, of course! Sure, you could have just saved this unification for a special or something like that so you don't bench one of your main characters, or you could have at least had Adrien willingly give his Miraculous to Ladybug to unify with in person, but nope. This is seriously one of their defenses— I mean, explanations, for why Adrien isn't allowed to be in the final battle, because they thought it would be more important to give Marinette her 10th new form in three seasons than letting Adrien get some form of closure with his father.
And here's the final reason they gave in the commentary. Remember that dream sequence of Marinette dressed as a knight that was also sort of foreshadowed in “Gabriel Agreste”? Turns out, the writers wanted to, and stop me if you've heard this before, play with the tropes and symbolism of fairy tales. Wow, I've never seen any kind of pop culture do that before... except for Into the Woods, The Princess Bride, Hook, Shrek, Princess Tutu, Ella Enchanted, Hoodwinked!, Enchanted, Tangled, Once Upon a Time, Frozen, RWBY, Ever After High, Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarves, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, and Nimona. But other than those, that's so original!
Even though the writers are acting like they're breaking new ground, do you want to know what they mean by this? They're just doing another damsel in distress situation but this time, Adrien, the boy, is the one who needs to be saved by Marinette, who is, GASP, a girl?! WOW! That totally changes everything!
youtube
Okay, yes, the damsel in distress trope has usually been seen as a misogynistic one due to the fact that the people who needed to be saved are usually women, but like I mentioned way back in my “Gabriel Agreste” review, just swapping the genders isn't enough to breathe new life into a trope as old as this one. It's arguably worse because Adrien isn't just someone who needs to be saved. He's a superhero, and like I mentioned, there were plenty of options to get him out of his room in London.
And I'm guessing that some of you are thinking, “But IOTA! You just want Adrien to save the day by himself because he's a guy!” Just remember that I had this exact same problem last season where the roles were reversed. Remember how I hated the way Marinette's arc about dealing with the stress of being Guardian was hijacked by Adrien complaining about Ladybug not trusting him? This time, we have an arc about Adrien trying to break free from his father's influence that's been hijacked by Marinette needing to save Adrien by herself, robbing him of any agency he had to the plot entirely. This issue isn't about gender. It's never been about gender. I would have the exact same problem if Adrien was the one who confronted Monarch by himself while Marinette was trapped in her room.
This leads to the biggest problem I have with this plot development: It ultimately goes against the core theme of teamwork the show keeps trying to convey. Remember how last season, Marinette needed to learn to let other people trust her? Now, she's going to beat up Monarch all by herself without any help. Remember how last season, Adrien needed to prove he didn't deserve to be left in the dark about everything? Now, he's going to stay all the way in London while his partner gets in the fight of her life. It's detrimental to both of them as characters, and makes everything that happened to them in Season 4 completely pointless.
Okay, now that I've spent five pages ranting about this insane decision, let's get back on track, shall we? As the Perfect Alliance app helps Adrien and Kagami calm down, Marinette sneaks into the Agreste mansion as Ladybug. Meanwhile, Nathalie has her own nightmare about Gabriel winning, AKA, the very thing she could have stopped a long time ago by ratting her evil boss out to Ladybug and Cat Noir.
We then learn just what the Perfect Alliance app really does. Basically, thanks to the technobabble, it helps alleviate the stress from their nightmares. Or, to put it in Layman's terms, Gabriel and Tomoe plan to get the entire population of Earth addicted to cyber crack. We see this affect several of Marinette's classmates, but because Mylene has a sudden disdain for technology that “Was made without respect for the Earth's resources”, she's the only one who sees the problem here. I'd ask why this wasn't established earlier this season, but it doesn't matter, since Mylene gives in anyway,
Because it's a day that ends with a “Y”, Gabriel goes to talk to Emilie's body yet again, and it seems like even the writers realized how tired this got, as Nathalie finally decided to ambush him with a crossbow.
Tumblr media
Miss Sancoeur, I served with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I knew Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy the Vamprie Slayer was a friend of mine. Miss Sancoeur, you're no Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Yes, it only took five seasons worth of evil plans for Nathalie to realize just how demented her boss really is.
Nathalie: I can't let you do that... if you make the wish to bring her back, someone will have to go in her place. Emilie would never have agreed to this!
Gabriel: Do you think I'd be monstrous enough to sacrifice a human being?
Uh... yes? That is literally what equivalent exchange means. You really don't know how the wish works after researching it?
Shockingly, the frail woman armed with nothing but a crossbow isn't able to stop someone with superpowers. There isn't even a fight. Monarch just knocks the crossbow out of her hands and she faints. Maybe you should have actually come up with some sort of plan before confronting Gabriel by yourself, dumbass.
Back to Ladybug, she searches through Gabriel's stuff and finally learns he's Monarch... even though she should already know thanks to Felix and Kagami's play last episode. She even looks pretty shocked to see Monarch detransform.
Tumblr media
Back to the commentary, the writers justify this with their absurd “Every episode can be watched on its own” rule. Because simply having Marinette say she already knows was out of the equation, I guess. Seriously, earlier in the episode, Tikki (who, along with Plagg, wasn't affected by the nightmare dust for some reason) had doubts that Marinette should break into the Agreste mansion, and it came across like neither of them knew the truth, and this was a reckless decision that wasn't motivated by Gabriel being Monarch at all. Once again, the writers fail to understand the idea of using “Previously On...” segments to help new viewers catch up on what's happening. It's even more confusing when you remember that Tikki knows Adrien is Cat Noir, so his father being Monarch coupled with his sudden absence should be setting off all kinds of red flags in her book.
Ladybug tries to text Cat Noir about who Monarch really is, but chooses not to send it after Gabriel pushes a few of her buttons. Rather than jumping Gabriel while she still has the element of surprise, she only chooses to grill Nathalie for questions once Gabriel is out of the room. And of course, only when she's on death's door does Nathalie tell Ladybug to stop Monarch, but not before telling her to transform back.
We see Gabriel and Tomoe put their plan into action. They create a fake scene of Ladybug and Cat Noir kidnapping Adrien and Kagami in order to rile up the public (who aren't in the best state of mind thanks to the nightmares) in order to for them to use the Alliance rings to transform them into the “Miraculized”. In other words, it's basically “Heroes' Day” all over again. Seriously, think about it. Just like “Heroes' Day”, it looks like Adrien is being harmed by Ladybug in an attempt to push the population to the brink of despair so Gabriel can create an army in the process. Yeah, the public doesn't know the two are the same, but the audience does. Granted, this is a minor nitpick compared to the rest of my problems with this episode, but I hope you can see what I'm getting at here.
Case in point, the reason Nathalie told Ladybug to detransform was because Gabriel has found a way to track her and Cat Noir through their “quantum signatures”. With Cat Noir, it was thanks to the dust from Gabriel's Cataclysm wound, and with Ladybug, it was thanks to the Magical Charm she gave Gabriel earlier in “Gabriel Agreste”... which he shouldn't have since it was destroyed in “Dearest Family”.
youtube
Seriously, this is the season finale. How the hell are the writers still struggling to remember important events like this?
Tumblr media
Now's as good a time as any to talk about the Miraculized's design. Yeah, they're pretty lame. They all look like they're wearing fencing gear, and don't look intimidating in the slightest. They also now have the ability to use every Miraculous power at once, which breaks the previously established rules about the Alliance rings in that only one ring can handle each Miraculous power. You could at least argue that the robots used in “Confrontation” had more advanced technology that made them capable of using multiple powers, but nothing has changed about the Alliance rings to justify this. And remember, this is something every Miraculized in the world can use, yet the system hasn't been completely fried, and as we'll later see Monarch can still freely use the other Kwamis' power even when they're being shared with the Miraculized across the world. In fact, how can the Miraculized even transform like this? Monarch doesn't akumatize anyone to spread this transformation. Gabriel just tells to say “Alliance, Miraculize Me!”, and now they can transform. Was this always a function of the Alliance rings? Is there a tiny Akuma hidden in each ring? How the hell does any this work?
Ladybug fights off some of the Miraculized who used Voyage to find her, and remembers Nathalie's advice to detransform. So just like in “Passion”, even though she's still wearing her Miraculous, the system specifically designed to track her down isn't able to find her unless she's still transformed. Marinette runs away to a safe place before running into Plagg, who tells her Cat Noir is out of commission. With no other options, Marinette decides to unify with the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous, turning into Bug Noire, revealing her identity to Monarch in the process, and ending the episode.
Tumblr media
Bug Noire's design is admittedly pretty nice. I like the balance of red, black, and green, though the hair is a little too long for my taste. Granted, I still don't get why this is the reason why Adrien can't be here to fight Monarch alongside his partner. I'm just saying, was it really worth it, writers?
THE BIGGEST IDIOT OF THE EPISODE IS... NATHALIE
Tumblr media
Yep, right before the finish line, Nathalie gets her second award this season. After spending several episodes doing nothing but letting herself rot away, Nathalie only chose to finally do something about Gabriel once he was literally about to enact his final plan, thought she could stop him with nothing but a crossbow, and only begged Ladybug for help when it looked like she was about to die and had nothing left to lose.
“Re-Creation”, the final episode of the season, starts off with Lila watching some broadcasts of people succumbing to their paranoia (and she does it while smirking because the writers still don't think we understand she's evil) and transforming into Miraculized while she puts on a new disguise that makes her look like an evil Edna Mode.
Tumblr media
How come Lila isn't even affected by the nightmare dust like the rest of the human population? As always, never explained!
Back in the Agreste mansion, Bug Noire and Monarch are duking it out, and we get some pretty creative uses of Lucky Charm, like when she summons a piano to crash down on Monarch. Meanwhile, after Marinette's friends manage to get the Alliance ring off a Miraculized Ivan, we get to see how the rest of the world is dealing with the Miraculized. In Shanghai, the Renlings help Fei through her nightmares, Su-Han has recruited Jagged Stone, Luka, Penny and Fang to the Order of the Guardians instead of actually getting backup like he said he would in “Multiplication”, Present Bunnix finally decides to do something and uses Burrow to sent the Guardians to Paris, while the United Heroez fight off the Miraculized and learn the true nature of the Alliance rings. Just remember, it was too much for the writers to let Adrien get involved in the final battle, yet all these side characters get to do something in the finale for some reason.
Meanwhile, as if things couldn't get any worse, Nino decides the Resistance needs to get involved after reassuring Mr. Damocles that they never give up. Believe me, not much would change if you guys just threw in the towel, especially now that the United Heroez are here, and have Eagle, a member whose powers work as an instant cure for everyone's nightmares. Hey, while we're on the subject, does anyone know where the United Heroez were this entire season? I can excuse Fei as she's just one teenager in Shanghai, but the Americans have a small army of heroes, including the president, yet they just let two violent coups in France happen last week.
As Bug Noire and Monarch keep fighting, Bug Noire comes up with the brilliant idea to Cataclysm the Butterfly Miraculous, only being foiled by Monarch already having Resistance active. Okay, is a side effect of using the Cat Miraculous this season a taste for blood? Why the hell are the heroes so okay with trying to use Cataclysm on their enemies now? Bug Noire then decides to use her Cataclysm for something far more reasonable, breaking the ground beneath her and Monarch. Because I guess Bug Noire is really gunning for Biggest Idiot this episode.
Back with the Resistance, they meet up with the Guardians, United Heroez, and Ladydragon, who have actually been getting shit done. Wow, it's just like that scene from that one movie where all the characters we've come to know over the years rally together for the final battle! What was it called again? Oh yeah, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over.
While the other heroes are overwhelmed by the Miraculized, we cut back to Bug Noire and Monarch yet again, now inside the area where Emilie's body is. The two keep fighting as Monarch tells Bug Noire why he's doing all this, all while Lila breaks into the mansion.
Monarch: I want my wife, Adrien's mother, to come back to us! Once our family is reunited, Kagami and Adrien will become the eternal icons of this world! And we will be here to witness their absolute triumph!
Bug Noire: “Your wife”? “Come back”? “Kagami and Adrien, eternal icons”? How many lives are you going to ruin in the name of your crazy dreams?!
Monarch: As many as it takes! In order to bring Emilie back, someone else will have to disappear! In order to heal the wound that Cat Noir inflicted on me, someone else will have to be wounded!
Bug Noire: Someone else? But who?
Monarch: Anyone! No one matters except us! How about you, Marinette? Wouldn't you give your life for your sweet Adrien's happiness?
Bug Noire: Do you really think that's what he'd want? To discover that his father has turned into a supervillain, willing to make innocent people pay the price of his madness?
Monarch: Adrien would do the same thing!
Bug Noire: Never! Unlike you, Adrien has made his peace with it. He's not living in the past! He has a whole life ahead of him!
Bug Noire: You'd know this if you ever took an interest in him. But in reality, Adrien means NOTHING to you anymore! You've locked him in your house! Locked him in your Alliance rings!
Bug Noire: Locked him into a life that allows you to hide behind him in order to justify YOUR madness!
Monarch: All I want is for him to be happy!
Remember all of this, because it's going to be important soon.
Bug Noire uses her Lucky Charm, and gets a tube of glue. She uses some of it on this random boomerang she found (I'm assuming it's the remains of Nathalie's crossbow), sticks it to her yo-yo, and then throws it at Emilie's coffin. Monarch reflexively grabs the sticky boomerang, and loses all of the rings on his right hand just as Bug Noire uses Cataclysm on the elevator to get to this area of the mansion, with the intent on CRUSHING EMILIE WITH IT. Our hero, ladies and gentlemen! Monarch saves his wife, but because he's distracted, he can't stop Bug Noire from throwing her staff at the Butterfly Miraculous, knocking it off and reverting Monarch back to Gabriel. Bug Noire ties up Gabriel's feet, and when Gabriel tries to sucker punch her with Venom, Bug Noire grabs the hand, threatening to Cataclysm the remaining Alliance rings and the two rings she should damn well know contain Adrien's Amok. Either she's bluffing, or we accidentally got the Paris Special universe's version of these events.
Bug Noire tries to reason with Gabriel, who then breaks down crying, showing how deep down, he just really cares about his family. And even though just six episodes ago, Marinette said that it was very easy for idealistic people to be taken advantage of by others, she buys into Gabriel's last-minute sob story, and wouldn't you know it, he stabs her in the back. Congratulations, Marinette. You just doomed the universe. Even when the Dino Charge Rangers accidentally got everyone on their planet killed, they were at least able to fix it themselves.
It's time to go back to the commentary, where we can learn the writers' true intent for this scene. They honestly believe that both Marinette and Gabriel care for Adrien in their own ways, and the whole reason that Marinette chose to trust Gabriel was to teach the lesson that it's important to talk out your feelings with others... a lesson that fails because 1) Marinette had already beaten Gabriel through violence, 2) Marinette trusting Gabriel backfired horribly, and 3) Gabriel won because he took advantage of Marinette's trust! You can't teach a lesson about trust when for all intents and purposes, Marinette once again lost BECAUSE SHE CHOSE TO TRUST SOMEONE!
Even though he had to unify with Tikki and Plagg to try making the wish in “Deflagration” (I really shouldn't have used the “Great Continuity!” clip earlier), we get yet another retcon this season: Tikki and Plagg have to reveal their true forms. Yeah, I know Tikki's true form was briefly seen in “Dearest Family”, but that doesn't change the fact that Monarch didn't do this when he had the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous in “Deflagration”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tikki and Plagg's true forms just look okay. I like the otherworldly theme, but they don't really stand out much. They honestly look more like forms Ladybug and Cat Noir would have than anything else.
It's here that we get the culmination of five seasons' worth of lore. After a brief glimpse of it in “Ephemeral”, Tikki and Plagg, the Kwamis of Creation and Destruction will merge their energies to form their true true form, the Kwami of Reality itself, able to grand any wish asked. This majestic, otherworldly being's name? Gimmi. Just... Gimmi. The commentary claims they're named after an ABBA song, and I wish I was making this up.
Tumblr media
Like with Tikki and Plagg's true forms, Gimmi has an okay design. They're just a little too pink for something meant to be a fusion of the red Tikki and the black Plagg.
As Marinette begs Gabriel not to go through with this, Gabriel doesn't think twice about it, and instead, gives Marinette the rings containing Adrien's Amok, along with a request, fully aware that his time is almost up.
Gabriel: Marinette, make sure that Adrien never knows about the villain that I was, but instead, that he remembers the times I tried to be a good father.
Alright, we've finally gotten to the most controversial part of the episode: Gabriel's “redemption”, and I put that term extremely loosely.
Put aside the fact that almost a third of this season was spent telling the audience that a certain character who shall not be named is beyond saving despite working alongside him multiple times for the past two seasons, Gabriel's last-minute redemption falls flat because he doesn't even seem to feel remorse for what he's done. Not once does he actually say he's sorry for what he's done, just how Emilie's death affected him. That's understandable, but he doesn't even seem to acknowledge the weight of his actions or how many lives have been endangered. Remember earlier, when Monarch said he was perfectly okay with sacrificing someone else if it means his family can be happy? Yeah, that never comes back, especially now that him making the wish is portrayed as a good thing when every time it's been discussed ever since it was first explained in “Robostus” just how dangerous actually using it is.
In fact, let's discuss the fact that Gabriel is getting to make the wish in the first place. The whole idea of this basically contradicts Gabriel supposedly realizing he's gone too far. Rather than just having Gabriel give up his quest and let Emilie rest in peace, we're supposed to be happy that Gabriel double-crossed Marinette even when the music is making it seem like it's a bad thing... WHICH IT IS! Once again, for a show that loves to go on and on about how powerful love is, it really loves to show people getting screwed over whenever they decide to show compassion to their enemies. Imagine if in Return of the Jedi, when Luke chose to not give into the Dark Side by sparing Vader, Vader took the chance to kick him in the crotch while he was distracted. That's basically what happened here.
Next, notice how Gabriel specifically asks Marinette to make sure Adrien never learns the truth about who he was, and “Remembers the times he tried to be a good father”. After everything he's done, Gabriel isn't even willing to let Adrien learn about what he's done, because he wants him to focus exclusively on the times he TRIED to be a good father. This isn't the matter of Gabriel missing Adrien's fencing tournament because he had an important business meeting. Gabriel was a literal supervillain who preyed on innocent people in order to obtain absolute power, and he wasn't even a good father to his only kid. He was neglectful, controlling, and in the last few months of his life, spent more time trying to ruin his relationship with his girlfriend for no reason other than because he thought his associate's kid was a better match for him. He was a terrible father, and Gabriel even seems to be aware of this, but rather than find a way to repent for everything he's done, Gabriel is basically going to take the coward's way out by forcing Marinette to sugarcoat his life instead of admitting he was, at the very least, a flawed parent, all so Adrien will feel bad when he finally drops dead.
And yeah, let's talk about how Gabriel assumes that Adrien shouldn't be allowed to know the truth... WHEN THAT'S NOT HIS DECISION TO MAKE. Adrien should be the one to judge whether he believes Gabriel was a good father or not. Of course Gabriel would assume he was a good father despite the numerous red flags, but Adrien is another story. By keeping the truth hidden from Adrien, you're depriving him of a potentially important moment in his life where he finally learns to break free from his father's influence. Instead, even though he's a fucking superhero, we're just supposed to accept the fact that Adrien is just a poor, fragile, sensitive baby boy who can't handle hearing any bad news or else I guess he'll explode. It says a lot when, of all movies, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier did a better job handling an idea like this, by saying that pain is a natural part of life.
youtube
But let's talk about the biggest problem with this turn of events: The fact that it essentially vindicates everything Gabriel has done, with or without the mask, as well as essentially convey a pro-child abuse message. In case you weren't around before I posted this review, I asked my followers who have been victims of child abuse or poor parenting to share their experiences so I could get an idea of how similar they were to what Adrien has had to go through. And a lot of them were pretty similar.
During almost all of what I read from these people, their parents or guardians shared one thing in common: An inability to admit being wrong. All of them tended to either blame their kids for whatever happened to them, or find ways to justify their poor treatment. As far as they're concerned, it's the kid's fault that they're being treated so poorly. And while I'm sure a handful of people isn't enough to survey the entire population of abuse victims on this planet, the fact that some of these people, as in actual victims of child abuse, were able to see similarities with their own upbringings and the way the main villain treats his son and don't buy the show deciding to act like all of that was perfectly okay says a lot about how much this finale dropped the ball when it came to the lesson it wanted to teach.
Yes, from what I've read from my followers and other things online, some abusive parents do believe that what they're doing to their children is out of a warped view of love, but that isn't enough to validate their actions completely, and it obviously doesn't validate Gabriel's actions during the last five seasons. During the entire run of the show, Gabriel has denied his son a normal life, treats him like an object, and despite claiming that he really loves him deep down, he almost never shows it. It seemed like the show was either going to have Gabriel realize the error of his ways due to how fruitless they ended up being, but having him get the upper hand on Marinette at the very last second ultimately makes it so all of his effort, every evil plan, every civilian endangered, was all worth it. And that's why Gabriel's final moments supposedly acting like he's repented for his actions don't work, and why it turned what was initially just a boring finale into one that was beyond infuriating.
And I'm assuming that you're thinking to yourself, what exactly is the wish Gabriel was so desperate to make that he tricked Marinette at the last second?
youtube
We never really learn what kind of wish Gabriel makes using Gimmi, even in the epilogue. I'm also going to talk about this in a later post, but of course Astruc, being Astruc had to give his usual sarcastic remarks to anyone who had the slightest question about what the hell just happened.
Tumblr media
I love how someone will ask something like “Do you mind clearing up a few questions I have about the season finale?”, and Astruc will hear what they said as if they just asked, “Is Mylene secretly the reincarnation of the Anti-Christ?”.
So Gabriel makes his wish, somehow reunites with Emilie's soul as he ascends to Heaven... until the angels realize they made a horrible mistake, and send Gabriel to his custom-made Tenth Circle of Hell. Reality itself is rewritten and all of the characters we've come to know over the past five seasons are effectively dead. If that isn't supposed to be a happy ending, I don't know what is.
According to the transcript, it's been a month after the wish is made, we see how Paris has changed since then. Not only has Miss Bustier given birth to her baby, she's also been elected as Mayor of Paris, already passing her first law, the “Eco Rule”.
Miss Bustier: It consists of very simple principles: don't take more from the Earth than what it can give us, distribute its riches equitably and don't pollute more than it can recycle.
Remember when Mylene said that you can't solve climate change with a single law? I guess the writers forgot to recycle that moral too, because despite the vague as hell guidelines, Paris has already adapted to function without plastic wrappers or cars. Just remember, it's only been one month since the wish was made. Even Star Trek needed at least 130 years and a nuclear war before its utopian society could be established. And that's not even getting into the new school she's helped create.
Miss Bustier: In this new school, there will be no classes or struggling to get good grades. Children of all ages will be able to intermix and freely access all kinds of activities.
The fuck you mean “no grades”?! How the hell will that even work?! We're supposed to see this as her being an impressive politician, but it comes across like some grade schooler's “If I were president” essay. And remember, ONE. MONTH.
How else has the Eco Rule been implemented? All of the Alliance rings have been melted down and reforged into a statue honoring... the great hero, Gabriel Agreste.
Tumblr media
Yep. This is the ultimate fate of the main villain after five seasons of terrorizing the city of Paris: He gets a fucking statue in his honor. Are we sure this is a victory for the good guys? And no, just surviving the villain's master plan doesn't count as a win.
Even better, according to Adrien, he somehow helped defeat Monarch... even though Gabriel is Monarch, so is Monarch a different person in this world? What about Monarch's previous identities, Hawkmoth and Shadowmoth? Did they still exist in this world? They had to, considering that Chloe and Andre are still nowhere to be seen since the revolution, implying that either she's different in this world, or she also betrayed Ladybug for the same reasons. Nathalie is also back in full health, so did she ever use the Peacock? Was the Peacock ever damaged? We see Felix has it in this new world, but Emilie is still dead, so did she die of different causes in this timeline? Speaking of time, what happened to Bunnix? Did she survive too? Is she aware of the changes to the world like she was in “Cat Blanc”?
To summarize, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!?
Adrien is hesitant to wear the ring because he's not sure if he can ever be even half the man his amazing father was. Marinette tells Adrien to be himself while handing the ring to him. So... was this an order? If so, was it intentional? Does Marinette even know what she's doing, or because she's a product of Gabriel's wish, she has to do this without a hitch? In fact, when he made the wish, why didn't Gabriel make Adrien, Felix, and Kagami humans instead of forcing them to rely on rings containing their souls that can easily break?
This scene is a great way to summarize Adrienette this season: The writers trying to write a heartwarming scene while hoping the audience doesn't think too hard about all the uncomfortable things it implies.
After reforging the Miraculous she got back from Monarch, Marinette decides to hand them off. Because fuck it, let's break the temp hero rule while we're at it! Chloe who? Ladybug, Cat Noir, Rena Rouge, Carapace, Viperion, Pegasus, Ryuko, Vesperia, Polymouse, Pigella, Purple Tigress, Miss Hound, Rooster Bold, Caprikid, Minotaurox, Bunnix, and even Argos (despite being the reason the heroes lost their Miraculous in the first place) assemble, ready for whatever challenge the world throws at them. Also, there's no reveal between Ladybug and Cat Noir this season because the writers still want to drag this plotline out, even when there's no excuse as to why they can't now that Monarch is gone.
We then learn who got the Butterfly Miraculous: Lila, who plans to get revenge on Marinette. Yep, the girl who has never even touched a Miraculous in five seasons is going to be Hawkmoth's successor. Not Tomoe (who I should mention never answered for being Gabriel's accomplice), not Audrey, not even Chloe. It's Lila. How the hell did she even get it anyway? Did Gabriel intentionally recreate the world to have Lila get the Butterfly Miraculous, or did Lila somehow retain her memories through close proximity to the wish and--
youtube
Fuck it, season's over anyway. Thank God...
THE BIGGEST IDIOT OF THE EPISODE IS...MARINETTE
Tumblr media
While I can't say for certain what she did with Adrien is her fault thanks to Gabriel making the wish, I can say a good chunk of the things Marinette did leading up to Gabriel winning are on her. She recklessly used her Cataclysm multiple times in her fight with Monarch, tried to crush Emilie's comatose body with debris, once again chose to gloat about how she was going to take Gabriel's Miraculous instead of just doing it the first chance she got, seemingly forgot Adrien was a Sentimonster, and somehow managed to lose even when she had Gabriel at her mercy.
So, yeah... this finale was terrible, if it wasn't obvious from this review.
It was just a complete trainwreck from start to finish. A good chunk of the first part was spent either ignoring the events of the last episode, or coming up with excuses as to why Adrien shouldn't get involved. And that's not even getting into Nathalie's “redemption”, which only really happened once she had nothing to lose, seeing how she was even closer to dying than Gabriel was. In fact, now that I think about it, why was more emphasis given to Nathalie's declining health over Gabriel? You know, the guy who's enacting his final plan because he's supposedly hours from death, yet effortlessly manages to clone himself, fly around the world as an Akuma, and keep up with Bug Noire when he struggled to enact a plan that required him to leave the lair without traveling around the world during “Intuition”? Given how we now know that the writers wanted the final battle to involve Bug Noire, I'm starting to think they also prioritized her opponent being in top shape while ignoring the Cataclysm wound affecting him.
The second half was mostly boring thanks to just how low the stakes felt. We know where Adrien is, and since Bug Noire was fighting Monarch, there was no danger of them taking her Miraculous, so for the most part, the Miraculized fighting the other heroes just felt like padding. Nobody even seemed to look for Ladybug or Cat Noir, not even the heroes. Of course, then we got to Gabriel's wish. I've gone over this before, but it bears repeating. Gabriel's “redemption” just doesn't work due to how little effort is spent actually making the audience feel bad for him other than saying “His wife is dead, and he's sad, so that justifies everything”. It doesn't help that we kind of had four episodes explaining why some people can't change, and it wasn't used when talking about Gabriel, but rather, Chloe and Lila. Because these writers really have their priorities straight.
The ending of the season itself practically falls apart with how many plotholes and unfortunate implications it has. And before you say that stuff like Adrien once again being left in the dark can be resolved next season, here's the thing: This was planned to be the series finale with how everything feels wrapped up. There's a sense of finality that shows all the main characters getting their happy ending, and we're just supposed to not question the new utopia Paris is now, much less the fact that even after eight years, Ladybug and Cat Noir still don't know who the other is. Even putting that aside, the show has always done a poor job of following up on plotpoints established in earlier seasons, as the lunchroom scene from “Illusion” shows.
Here's a summary of all the lessons the finale teaches: We shouldn't hold terrorists accountable for their actions if they just say they love their family, abuse victims should be constantly coddled and shouldn't be allowed to know the truth about their viewers, it's okay to keep crucial information from your significant other, genocide is okay as long as the person who commits it says it's for a good cause, love for others can easily be taken advantage of, so never trust anyone, genocide is the only way to create an eco-friendly world, environmental protection laws can be passed within a month and nobody (not even car manufacturers) will complain, teenage girls are worse than abusive parents who double as supervillains, and even if it was planned for almost a decade, don't let your main heroine be the one to save the day, but rather, the villain.
If anyone reading this is planning on becoming a writer and is worried that people won't like their work, just remember that there are people who get paid to work on this show.
But yeah, this is how the season ends, not with a bang, but with a nosedive. I was mostly pissed off with how Seasons 3 and 4 ended, but here? I'm just disappointed. This was the finale that we waited eight years for. The epic final battle against Monarch, and rather than the ultimate fight to the finish, the writers came with several excuses to not involve one of the two main characters in the final battle, the other main character fails to actually save the day, and the villain is rewarded for all of actions because he chose to turn himself into a messiah. I tuned into this season to at least see how the story would end out of curiosity, but it didn't even deliver an ending that made all the pointless filler, poor writing, and bad characterization worth it. I started this finale off bored, and I ended up furious for how lackluster this ending felt. It says a lot when this finale has been compared to Star vs. the Forces of Evil in terms of just screwing everything up.
THE BIGGEST IDIOT OF THE SEASON IS... MARINETTE
Tumblr media
Marinette may not have been able to beat Gabriel in terms of stopping his plan, but she did manage to outdo him in terms of stupidity. Because she got the award four times this season (Evolution, Revelation, Confrontation, Re-Creation), she takes home the title of Biggest Idiot.
And for those who are curious or didn't keep up with my reviews, Gabriel gets second place with three Biggest Idiot Awards (Intuition, Protection, Revolution), we have a five-way tie for third place with Luka (Determination, Migration), Mayor Andre (Adoration, Action), Chloe (Deflagration, Collusion), Felix (Emotion, Representation), and Nathalie (Passion, Conformation), who all got the award twice, and a ten-way tie for fourth place with Alya (Multiplication), Xuppu (Destruction), Mr. Damocles (Jubiliation), Nino (Illusion), Joan of Arc (Reunion), Ice Cream Man Andre (Elation), Kagami (Perfection), Kim (Derision), and Tomoe (Pretension) each getting the award once.
And with that, we're done with Season 5. It's been a long road, but all I can say is...
youtube
At least, until the analysis and ranking posts.

So I know Representation came out today. And any good fan would wait a week before reviewing it as we still have episode 23 to watch.
GOOD THING IM A DEGENERATE
Gale Reviews: ML Season 5 episode 24 Representation
spoilers below
-So as expected, Chloé didnt stay mayor long. But Apparently Ms.Bustier is running for Mayor and might win
-Oh its the Fencing teacher/ guy who was Darkblade. Well clearly Ms.Bustier is going to win
-And Adrien and Kagami are a power couple? But Adrien is watching the news report while they are in London. Something seems VERY off
-Ah, Gabriel is behind it. And Adrien HATES it.
-"By letting your father decide your life and selling your story through a fake narrative as usual." DAMN Plagg holds no punches
-Plagg appologized though.
-Kagami is also pissed about it
-HEY ITS FELIX/ARGOS
-Wait ... is that really my chaotic son? HEARTS ON WINDOWS.
Tumblr media
-Thats adorable, WTF
-Okay so THEY got some development.
-Adrien deciding to just say f*** it. He is heading to paris and Telling Marinette he's chat noir!
-Marinette back in paris looks miserable. Poor baby girl. Also its a lovely dress.
-Marinette has been crying. I am going to kill Gabriel
-Marinette being strong for her friends to enjoy this dance. Thats really big of her.
-Unfortunately, Spotlight.
-Wait, how did Argos and Kagami get to Paris BEFORE Astrochat? Unless they left much earlier but even then. My bet is Argos made a sentimonster that would warp them places... but that seems like BS.
-KAGAMI KNOWS MARINETTE IS LADYBUG?! Since perfection. Damn.
-KAGAMI TOLD FELIX!?!?!?! FELIX?!?!?! Okay I am a bit salty about that
-OH S***! THEY KISSED. The Feligami stans are Eating today.
-Felix is dressed like Adrien? Oh I do not like where this seems to be going.
-And Marinette thought she saw Adrien and wants to go after him while her friends are thanking her for everything she's done. Way to ruin a good moment FELIX you ass!
-Side note, WHY is Marinette the only one in a dress? Like its a dance? Why couldnt everyone Have dressed up? Seriously, I know outfit renders are expensive. DID THE KITCHEN COST THAT MUCH?
-Marinette avoiding the Lesbian bee and accidentally interrupting the Bi artist and writer. Sure is Pride month in Paris.
-Okay this is just cruel. Marinette thinks she is having a break down over this. Side note. WHY ISNT ADRIEN ACTUALLY HERE YET? HE IS ASTROCHAT!
-Alya and Nino trying to comfort her. But she aint listening.
-Adrien and Kagami escaped and the parents are pissed
-Oh no Nathalie looks really bad right now. Poor thing. All she can do is watch videos of her true love Emilie
-He took the ring back, guess now that Nathalie is too weak to fight him. Which really brings up the question, WHAT HAPPENED in the last episode that Nathalie took such a turn.
-Gabriel is being a d*** as usual
-Nightormentor sounds like a cool name. And while I thought the color scheme is weird... its probably the best akumatized form Gabriel has taken. Sad but true
-AND OF COURSE RIGHT AS SHE LEAVES ASTROCAT ARRIVES. I know its plot convenience but thats bull s***
-"His father CANT have that much control of him" Oh if only you knew Nino
-And BOOM! Gabriel the bitch agreste arrives
-I am liking Rose so much recently. She is calling out EVERYONE
-So he basically has the powers of Sandboy mixed with Darkerowl
-the guy has the power to make you experience VERY intrusive thoughts. That is evil
-Chat noir is like "Hey ladybug gonna go beat up my father text me later"
-Dude Felix must be an Olympic speed walker
-Marinette is basically being nightormented without that bastard even being here. Felix, Kagami this is just a jerk move.
Duusu: "This is so sad" Felix: "Dont worry its for Our happy ending" Duusu: F*** yea lets keep it up
-Oh he made a sentimonster... wait. I know its not human but like a sentimonster MAKING sentimonsters. Feels even more f***ed up
-THEY ARE DOING A F***ING PLAY FOR HER!?
-OH MY GOSH! ITS THE STORY OF EMILIE AND AMELIE!
-Meanwhile, Chat noir is working through his daddy issues.
-Back to the play
-Oh this is interesting.
-Oh and we find out Felix's dad was a rich Cowboy. But also an asshole. (Oh right, this is a French Cartoon, thats why American's suck in this)
-Back to Adrien fighting his father
-This is Cathartic watching Chat noir beat Gabriel's ASS
-HE WAS GOING TO CATACLYSM HIS DAD! Adrien, my boy. Patricide adrien? Well Monarch is still alive, so I guess you think it wouldnt kill him. BTW, Monarch should have had ptsd from that.
-And Chat noir got hit, so his worst fear is... and cuts back to the play
-Oh the twins were infertile. Emilie returned to try and get medical help but still nothing.
-The peacock, that was the sentimonster reference
-Oh so THATS how Gabriel got Gorilla to guard adrien.
-Also yea, any doubt that they arent sentimonsters is dead now.
-ITS CHAT BLANC WITH BLUE HAIR!?
-Oh s*** that is f***ed up.
-"It will end if you give me your miraculous"
-"Take it." ADRIEN NO!
-Oh so thats why Felix's dad was an a**hole. Okay I will give this credit. That is something.
-Welp this explains why Felix might be a sociopath
-Felix revealing why he did what he did
-THE RESISTANCE! COMING IN CLUTCH
-THE TRAY!
-ALYA JUMPED ON HIS BACK.
-They got the akuma in a jar.
-Wait, Chat noir defeated an akuma without Ladybug. (sure he had outside help, but Ladybug has done that too). Good on him
-WELL S*** THAT WAS TRIPPY.
-Felix and Kagami asked for Marinette's help. so was that all the sentimonster doing so? I am lost
-Okay so, I may not LIKE exactly how they went about it. But I cant really hate them for what they did. They are just kids that want to pick someone they trust.
-Oh s***, Ladybug never cast miraculous cure. So Adrien has some perminant trauma from the fight with Nightormentor. He still sees the antichat visions (its not chat blanc, and its just reverse color pallet)
-Chat noir left. before he could tell her. Cause the nightmare messed with him
-WAIT DID TOMOE AND GABRIEL JUST LOCK THEIR CHILDREN IN STERILE ROOMS? WTF!
_________________________________________________________
Okay! This episode was A LOT.
Well there is no denying Sentimonster theory. Its confirmed. Its done. 100% GUARANTEE NO MONEY BACK.
It did explain a LOT about Felix and Adrien.
So I am still iffy on how it was handled.
Now this DOES NOT justify Felix's Actions. He was still an a**hole. And Kagami shouldnt have told Felix. Marinette is Ladybug. That was NOT her secret to tell.
BUT the play that explained what happened was very well done. It explained a LOT about the Graham de Vanily family and Felix's a**hole father.
I will say that I hated how tortured Marinette was during this. Felix and Kagami could have done something less cruel to lure her there.
I also greatly enjoyed Chat noir vs Nightormentor. very good catharsis and we have Adrien going through some additional mental trauma, inflicted by his father (I wouldnt call it Ironic, more of EXPECTED)
I give it 7.5/10
I will say its the most I have enjoyed the second half of this season since Emotion.

Random Miraculous Thoughts: Deflagration Edition!
I know I’m a little late but I literally didn’t know this episode was coming out until yesterday after it had already been released. This show is a pain to keep up with lol
Alya saying “did I miss an episode?” made me laugh. I love a good fourth wall break.
Followed by Marinette saying “there have been no new episodes”. YEAH THERE SURE HAVEN’T BECAUSE THIS SHOW CAN NEVER HAVE A CONSISTENT SCHEDULE.
“We’re not in a relationship” “At least, not so far” sjshfamsvgak ZOE
Further proof for my theory that every Chat Noir automatically flirts with their Ladybug no matter what
I’ve been waiting for the return of the Resistance and their silly sauce-based codenames!
Marinette and Adrien are worried about each other 🥺 They don’t KNOW it’s each other but STILL.
Gabriel’s little dance was absolutely hilarious
“Do you smell that?” “Don’t tell me you’ve been making pancakes again.” Gotta love Nathalie making fun of his cooking.
It’s always cute to see the whole school shipping Marinette and Adrien. I loved everyone giving her thumbs up when she sat with him.
Can we stop akumatizing Chloe? Can we PLEASE stop akumatizing Chloe? Pick literally anyone else I am BEGGING.
It was fun to see Zoe tell her off though.
And the way Lila manipulated her into getting mad…interesting. I would bet she’s still talking to Monarch.
Alya and Zoe just. FREEZING in the middle of their transformation words genuinely made me gasp out loud.
I couldn’t help but think of that one post about Gabriel having to get his ears pierced when he was putting the earrings in.
DOES he have them pierced? I know the Miraculous can change forms, so did they turn into stick-ons for him? Inquiring minds want to know.
I once again forgot about the Miraculous Cure for a minute and was extremely worried about Plagg after he did The Thing
Props to Tikki for coming up with a smart plan. She’s clearly the brains of the Ladybug operation.
“Miraculous Monarchbug” just sounds ridiculous. Sorry Gabriel (no I’m not)
The Resistance finally lives up to their name! Is my “a gang of teenagers takes down Monarch” prediction going to come true?
I didn’t predict them using water guns full of ketchup and mustard though lol
I knew the new holders wouldn’t last long because almost nothing does on this show, but that was faster than I expected.
It does actually make sense though, since Monarch still doesn’t know Ladybug and Chat Noir’s identities.
Aww Plagg wanted to say goodbye to Zoe. That was sweet.
And he gave her a little pep talk 😭 I hope they get to see each other again someday.
“You, me, our kwamis, and the Resistance” REBEL LEADERS LADYBUG AND CHAT NOIR?!
In conclusion I’m still liking this season a lot and I’m interested to see what comes next!

With what little of what saw of the Dog Miraculous, we assumed their power would be super speed since dogs are quick, but since all the miraculouses bestow enhanced speed, strength and agility to its holders, that wasn’t the case. Their power was actually fetching whatever it was they touched with a ball weapon. The Dog represents guidance, protection, fidelity, faithfulness, alertness, love, loyalty and friendship. Now, who do we know that strongly lives up to “fetching” things for some one, faithfulness and loyalty? Oh! That’s right! Sabrina Raincomprix! Her power worked nicely with winning the soccer/football game when she was Miss Hound (“Penalteam”), but it was horrifyingly effective during the Season 4 finale thanks to Flairmidable! Kagami was brainwashed into using her given miraculous for evil (“Perfection”) and so was Kim with his (“Derision”), but there’s no way we’re goin’ there a third time with a former member of Team Miraculous using their given miraculous for evil right? (realizes they’ve been spoiled) OH SH*T! Alright! Let’s check it out:
*Adoration-Lookie! Lookie! It’s 2wks before the end of the school year (and the season) and Marinette and Zoe are in charge of planning the End-of-the-Year school dance (well we all know how that’s gonna go *cough*Representation*cough*). We’re gonna be hearing about this from now cuz they wanna remind us that “the end is near”.
While working on the event at the hotel, Chloe b*tche’s about Marinette being there cuz she hates her now more than ever due to Adrienette sailing the ocean blue, but thanks to Zoe’s character development (“The Kwami’s Choice Part 2:Deflagration”), help from the staff and her stepdad André, Zoe isn’t taking any more of Chloe’s bullsh*t anymore! :P. Not even Audrey helped cuz apparently, despite the nice mother/daughter moment they had (“Queen’s Battle Part 2:Queen Wasp”) and siding with Chloe (“Malediktator”), she actually doesn’t give two sh*ts about either daughter! Ouch! What happened?
The Anti-Adrienette haters plan another sabotage, and when failing to again convince Adrien to jump ship, our double agent Nathalie, saves the moment, (Thank you, Nat!) so then Gabe listens to Lila and has Chloe manipulate Sabrina into theft and when poor Sabrina tearfully refuses, she’s akumatized in her signature akumatized form, Vanisher, with her given miraculous, The Dog, to frame Marinette for theft!
Lots of reveals here! We got a couple of name reveals! Like, that therapeutic friendly butler who’s-name-keeps-skipping-Chloe/Audrey is actually named Jean-Armand! Wa-hoo! We got his official name! This is because unlike Chloe, Zoe took the time to get to know the hotel employees and quit pretending to be a snob (for a good cause anyway) to have her way like before (“Gabriel Agreste”) and acted like her genuine kind-hearted self thus earning their friendship and loyalty against Chloe and her petty demands. Also, Mayor Bourgeois’s real name is Anaximandré! Fancy that! Why’d he change it? For Audrey! That’s why! It’s not romantic cuz I know it’s not. The guy cowers to her and Chloe so as not to upset them and gain their love. It’s bad enough he had to give up his dream of being a film director to politics just for her (“Sole Crusher”), but his name! Daaaaaaamn! What happened to them reconciling from their hatred and being all lovey-dovey!? (“Battle of the Miraculous Part 2:Miracle Queen”). This is something Sabrina also struggles with. Since Day 1, she’s been catering to Chloe to please her and all she gets in return every time is cruelty and neglect. It’s gotten worse since Lila joined in as the new “best friend” (“Perfection”) and how Sabrina heard from Chloe’s own mouth, in the same presence, that she sees her, like everyone else, as doormats (“Derision”). Shame her good intentions of living up to her given miraculous name of loyalty and friendship is wasted on Chloe, but we all know that’ll end soon *cough*Confrontation*cough*. The biggest reveal was the coming out moment for Zoe Lee to Marinette! (kinda hinted at from “The Kwami’s Choice Part 2:Deflagration”😉) No sailing for that, but much obliged, it’s a pretty ship! Thank you for telling us, Zoe Lee!✨🏳️‍🌈 Despite no cruising for Zoenette, the two are still cool with each other. Let’s give a great big hand to Marinette/Ladybug for being a good sport about this, especially since she originally thought Zoe liked Adrien and was behaving herself about it!👏👏👏👏Usually, she’d be a jealous psycho b*tch about it when any girl like Chloe (“The Bubbler”), Lila (“Volpina”) and even Kagami (“Animaestro”) was interested in him, but our girls learned to not let her emotions cloud her judgement anymore (and we all know how those turned out) and instead was encouraging Zoe to just tell “Adrien” how she felt so that she’ll get it off her chest and not be heartbroken about since he’s already dating Marinette and stay friends. It was this experience that finally got Adrienette it’s “I love you”💞…….would’ve been better with a kiss had not a certain ominous c*ckblocker ruining it. Don! Don! Don!

Okay I'm afraid to ask but I need to know at this point what's with the purple dick thing
Origins of the purple dik meme here we go
So everything started when I Gabriel made that first Monarch costume and it was different from his other costumes cuz for that, his skin was purple. Put of the blue my dirty mind figures out that if all other parts of his body are purple then so is his dik and I post it of course. People are disgusted. However I decide to make the most of it and make memes how Nathalie is gonna love that new purple dik cuz she loves Gabe and people find it funny. And then Nathalie ruins my memes and because she broke up with Gabe in Evolution. So I'm sad like she took away my meme material. So I'm sad and then the best thing ever happens - Gabriel and Tomoe start working together and that's how I got to the memes I post today. And I started shipping them unironically. I swear I got unfollowed by so many people since then but I also made new friends with just as weird sense of humour as mine but that's not the full story. Félix, my man over here, decided to wear purple costume too and paint his skin purple which means he also has a purple dik and what's even better is that according to the spoilers Kagami is supposed to simp on his villain form, I repeat purple villain form, just like her mom is simping on a purple villain from his family. And to make this even better, I'm seeing that every time Nathalie was akumatized or transformed she was either blue or purple. And now in the newest trailer I see my daughter Marinette attacking every purple Agreste villain and it's sending me cuz she's so tired of that colour.
And it doesn't help Gabriel that he looks like he's wearing a condom over his head with these helmets of his.
I don't know what future holds but I know that I will never stop making purple jokes cuz there is just too much material.
And now I want to write fanfictions about these couples but I don't want anyone to think that I have a purple dik kink because I don't I swear I don't. This is just too hilarious not to be used for a meme cuz it's canon it's canon that they all have purple genitals.
I hope this clears it up.

Volpina vs Old Lady
Anybody recognize her? 😂
Tumblr media
After a disappointing vacation to Africa, Nana decided to visit Paris instead. There were less bad kitties there.
Plagg suddenly sneezed. Adrien felt a chill down his spine and raised the aircon temperature.
Nana liked Paris. The culture and friendly Parisians were charming, she was even getting addicted to the goodies at the Dupain-Cheng patisserie. She decided to visit there every day to try a new treat.
Marinette was such a darling girl that she even gave Nana a homemade Christmas present for being such a regular customer.
The only thing annoying Nana were the frequent akumas and that bad black kitty.
Not that the akumas ever attacked her. They just disrupted her holiday itinerary. And she is not impressed by a flirty kitty distracting a serious heroine.
One day, nearing Christmas, Nana had just neared the patisserie to give Marinette one of her handmade scarves. They both love to bond about the joys of knitting. When she saw a girl in ugly orange play a flute, before suddenly turning into Marinette, but with an evil smile.
Ugh. Another akuma. But this one trying to frame Marinette? Unacceptable.
As Volpina started wrecking the bakery (the real Marinette was outside giving gifts to the homeless and orphanages), Nana suddenly came in and said, “Bad akuma!”
To Volpina’s surprise, the little old lady whacked her in the head with a surprisingly heavy purse, breaking her illusion in a puff of orange smoke.
Nana: framing a sweet girl on Christmas Eve? Unforgivable! Take that! And that!
Basically Nana gives Volpina a major beat down.
Tom: Nana, stop, she’s just a girl!
Nana: she’s an akuma with a magical suit.
Tom: true...but still...
Nana: she framed your daughter
Tom: she’s not worth it
Nana: she still deserves a good smack. In my day, we would have used a cane.
I think a cane would be preferable to her purse...
Volpina: Hawkmoth, help!
The akuma left Lila alone. Nana had to stop now. But Lila was still bruised without a miraculous cure.
Lila: what is wrong with you? How could you hurt me?
Nana: how could you frame Marinette? Such a sweet girl, giving gifts to the poor.
Lila: she’s a bully
Nana: ha! As if! I know bullies, and Marinette is definitely not one. You seem like the type.
Lila: I am not! I help Prince Ali with his charities.
Nana: never heard of him. But if you yourself claim to be innocent, why the desire for revenge, huh?
Lila: it was Hawkmoth!
Nana: he only persuades you to do what you already want to do!
Lila: no, I-
Nana smacked Lila on the face again. “And that’s for still trying to frame Marinette on Christmas Eve!”
Lila burst into tears and ran away, terrified of the old lady. It’s not like she can turn people on an elderly lady...especially when they also seem either awed or petrified of her.
Hawkmoth felt Volpina’s pain and wondered what would happen if he akumatized the old lady...maybe another day...he called back his akuma.
Nathalie looked up when Gabriel left his lair. “No new akuma? What happened to Miss Rossi’s petty jealous tantrum?”
Gabriel: she got beat up by an old lady
Nathalie: I wish I could have seen it
Gabriel: I’m pretty sure I saw a customer filming it.
Nathalie: do you think Lila’s resulting embarrassment will be worth an akuma?
Gabriel:...you just want to watch her get beat up again, don’t you?
Nathalie: I’m the one who has to spend more time with her at photoshoots. The brat is insufferable and exhausting. And she never shuts up! If she’s not bragging, she’s whining.
Gabriel: mmm....consider it an extra Christmas present then.
True to form, the video of Nana beating up Volpina before calling out Lila for wanting to frame Marinette got a million hits within ten minutes. Lila’s accusations about Marinette being a bully are in direct contrast to her public actions giving free presents and food. Nana’s remark about how Hawkmoth only encouraged her inner desires also struck home. Lila wanted to hurt Marinette. If she were really a victim, she would want justice/revenge and truth, not framework. That’s not how previous bullied-victims-turned-akumas had done. Stoneheart and Evillustrator sought revenge, not framing. Lady Wifi and Silencer sought truth.
Confronted by all the negative comments, Lila is transformed back into Volpina to frame Nana as a wacko old lady.
She returns to the patisserie with her new disguise and wrecks the shop, insulting Marinette’s family in the process.
Marinette correctly suspects this is a vengeful Volpina rather than the real Nana, who mentioned she would be on a museum tour.
Nana learns of the imposter and asks her fellow tour groupées to help clear her name. They all post her true whereabouts and declare her innocence.
Chat Noir is alarmed at this and runs to the museum to protect Nana because obviously Volpina will be after her.
To everyone’s surprise, Nana is not welcoming towards the hero offering her a lift to safety. Instead he is the next one to receive a purse in the face.
Nana: bad kitty! Didn’t your parents teach you to treat your elders with respect? Learn to ask for permission before carrying me around like a bride across the city! And you think an old lady can’t take care of herself? Give us more credit! Don’t assume we are all fragile and vulnerable. I can take care of myself!
Ladybug arrives.
Ladybug: Nana! Oh, I’m so glad you’re alright. Um...why are you hitting Chat Noir with a ruler?
Nana: this bad kitty needs to learn manners.
Ladybug: Chat, say you’re sorry. But Nana, we can’t ask you to fight in this battle for us. It’s our job to take care of you. Which is a shame because you are really good at kicking akuma butt.
Nana patted Ladybug’s cheek. “Such a sweet girl. Don’t worry. I can check out the gift store and hide in there. But that faker will probably find me there. Why not use me as bait?”
Rena shows up. “That’s what I’m here for.”
Rena plays her flute and transforms into Nana.
Nana hummed, eyeing her doppleganger. “Not bad.”
Volpina does show up, intent on proving she can take on an old lady. Come on, she has agility, she should have some strength too.
Only Nana turns out to be an angry Rena.
When Lila is deakumatized, both Rena and Nana tear into her for lying and framing an old lady. And yes, the matter is clear that Lila and Ladybug are not best friends at all.
There are videos of this, of course. And some commenters join the cause to unravel Lila’s outrageous lies, helpfully told by their classmates.
It is enough to gather the attention of the embassy. Mrs Rossi is ashamed of her daughter and agrees to send her back home because clearly she will be very negative in this city for a while now.
Not that home is any better since her videos have gone viral all around the world.
Lila is sentenced to homeschooling where she is safe. But to prevent her from learning of her own infamy, all electronics are confiscated. Lila herself knows any dreams of fame and riches are now dashed unless she wants to turn to crime.
She will have to undergo a major physical transformation and get a new name if she wants to re-enter society....after she is cleared by her psychiatrist that is...
Back in Paris, Chat wonders why the old lady seems to hate him. Then he finds a news article about her beating up a lion.
Tumblr media
Plagg: she hates cats in general. Lucky us.

Breaking news
The aftermath of the battle left the area in disarray for hours. The cure we have come to expect from Ladybug was not cast after the police took over and arrested Gabriel Agreste. His assistant Nathalie Sancouer and the bodyguard Ethan Gorille were both taken in for questioning. The magical artifacts were not recovered by law enforcement but are believed to be in the hands of the heroes, Ladybug and Chat Noir. They have not been seen since the battle. The last footage shows Chat Noir vault away with an untransformed Ladybug before she could be seen.
The battle was focused near Collège Françoise Dupont. It was known to be the school of Gabriel Agreste’s son Adrien Agreste. Adrien has not been seen since before the battle and has not returned to his home. Also missing is one Marinette Dupain Cheng who was in the class with him. Both teens were in class that day and seen just before the battle. If anyone has any information on their whereabouts please let the authorities know anything you have seen.
There were no major injuries reported after the battle. Minor injuries have been treated and those affected, most of whom were students or staff at the school, have been sent home. The school suffered damage and although there has been no official announcement yet, it is expected that it will not reopen this week. More details will be reported as they become available.
Heroes in Peril?
The magical threat is over but it's the presence of our heroes. Paris residents are relieved and hoping to celebrate the victory but Ladybug, Chat Noir and the rotating heroes have all remained silent and out of sight.
There is much speculation about why they would do this. Many fear that Ladybug had been gravely injured during the battle. Analysis of the final videos available showed both heroes take hits that would cause major damage to anyone without magical protection. Not enough is known about the protection offered by the magical powers. We have seen the heroes take some pretty painful looking hits and still get back up and fight.
That isn't what happened here. We see them both hit. Chat Noir gets back up and there is a conversation with Gabriel Agreste, who had just been revealed as Hawkmoth. Chat Noir hit the man before picking up the civilian who had been Ladybug. Many videos have been analyzed since the original reporting. Chat Noir is moving like he was injured but still carried away Ladybug. She is never fully visible but her form never shifts in his hold.
The magical cure to make everything right was never activated and none of the heroes came back to make a statement. It is suspected that she was unconscious but no one fitting her description showed up for medical care. The school affected was reopened last week after work crews finished the major repairs. The students wore masks to honor the heroes that many believe will never return. An attempt was made to get a statement from Gabriel Agreste but the police are taking precautions with his confinement.
Still missing
Teenagers Adrien Agreste and Marinette Dupain Cheng are now suspected of working with Hawkmoth, recently revealed as Gabriel Agreste. Neither has been seen since the battle that took place at their school. Details suggest that they were both present in the building and possibly even the room when the akumatized victim was activated. They were separated from their classmates in the chaos. Based on witness accounts they are believed to have intentionally snuck away for an unknown purpose.
Authorities were already interested in questioning Adrien because of his father’s involvement. Nathalie Sancouer was arrested for aiding her boss in his villainous endeavors. However Adrien’s personal bodyguard Ethan Gorille was released after questioning with no allegations of involvement with the criminal activities of his employer. In addition, sources close to the case suggest that he has gone on record defending his young charge from allegations. He says that not only was Adrien not involved with any part of the plan but he would rarely interact with his father. He believed that the boy used the chance to escape a life he was unhappy with after his father’s betrayal.
Even less is known about Marinette. Her parents have been desperate for any news of their daughter and do not believe she could have been involved with the dealings of Hawkmoth even if he made her promises. It would be hard to pass up for an ambitious teen. She was a long time fan of Gabriel Agreste and said he inspired her. Since he was revealed as Hawkmoth and his assistant revealed as Mayura the police are looking for any connections they might have had. According to her classmates she was also known to be interested in model Adrien Agreste and had done some pretty surprising things to impress him since he joined her class and had been publicly photographed as his girlfriend although they both later denied the rumor.
It was long suspected that Hawkmoth had a civilian working for him and all signs pointed to it being someone affiliated with Collège Françoise Dupont. Marinette had been the class representative for 2 year and had access to more information about the other students than anyone except the staff. She also was very widely known to be romantically interested in Adrien Agreste, the son of Gabriel. It is suspected that Gabriel made promises to her about her future as a designer and about possibly dating his son to get her cooperation. Her parents deny that this is possible and say she would not compromise her ideals for the sake of her future success and provided examples they believe show her desire to reach her goals on her own.
Police have provided no comment on their investigation into the teens or on their search to find them. They only stated that their investigation is ongoing. One anonymous officer has said:
“The disappearance of the teens has left many questions unanswered.”
We once again suggest that if you have any information about the missing teens, please notify the authorities to help them with their investigation.
Update, a year later; no answers
Paris, a city who once had magical heroes fighting evil magic controlling ordinary citizens feels like something from a fantasy series. It has been a year since there has been any sign of magic. Citizens have been left wondering what happened to the heroes who once protected them from unimaginable opponents doing the bidding of one man and his allies. You have probably all seen the last glimpse we have of the heroes after the final battle. An injured Chat Noir jumped away shielding an unconscious Ladybug who was no longer in her Ladybug transformation. No one knows what happened after that, but the magical reversal that had been standard to reverse the damage of nearly all the magical battles was never activated.
Also never seen again were missing teens Adrien Agreste or Marinette Dupain Cheng. Everyone remembers the shock of the arrest of Gabriel Agreste. He was revealed as Hawkmoth and worked with his assistant Nathalie Sancouer as Mayura. Adrien appears to have run after his father was revealed. The famous son of the designer has not been spotted since. The company was liquidated when it was clear that it would not recover from the association. In the Agreste Mansion was found the once missing Emelie Agreste. It is suspected that her husband was trying to find a cure but she died shortly after. Her sister Amelie has made no comment since everything was revealed.
Marinette Dupain Cheng is suspected to have run away with Adrien Agreste. Whether or not they were involved was never proven but the people of Paris have blamed them in their search for more answers. Once owners of a very popular patisserie, her parents Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng have moved away from Paris. Although the police once again refused to comment on the situation, public outrage has forced Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng to leave Paris. We reached out to them but received no response other than they hope to one day find out what happened to their missing daughter.
---
Dick was left with many more questions after he found articles from Paris about the suspect. They were a few years old but painted a pretty clear picture that ended in mystery. He had to be sneaky to get a picture of her to use to find her. She managed to miss all the security cameras around which was fairly suspicious on it's own. The articles didn't go into great detail about her alleged crimes of working for a magical supervillain but there were a few entries on a personal blog that had quite a bit to say about her. As far as Dick could tell that was where the drive to force the girl's parents out of Paris started. He looked into the blogger and she had moved on but still had a popular following with a continued tendency to reveal people with dark secrets.
Marinette had never come forward to defend herself from the allegations and had not been charged with any crimes. She has simply disappeared. He had worked as a detective so he knew that often charges being filed were often held up by needing evidence and there seemed to be little to go on. It seemed awfully suspicious that she had turned up here right when they had found evidence of miraculous magic.
With the use of magic that Constantine and Zatanna were refusing to get involved with. They apparently both felt it too unwise to get involved with the miraculi. Dick wasn't going to let any doubts prevent him from his investigations of the woman. She kept showing up where they found traces of the magic. He was doing what he could to learn about her but there really wasn’t much information available. She had hidden herself very well. He wasn’t sure what she was doing but he had seen her mailing packages several times so likely some sort of free lance that was not tied to her identity.
---
Marinette sighed. She had not expected her life to be like this. She was working at a fabric shop but that was not what she wanted. She was only doing it because the owner would pay her in product rather than involving her identity. She would then use the materials to create things to sell on her website. It wasn’t anything like she expected to be selling when she was young. It was mostly simple patterns for people who needed cute but functional items that would not fall apart. It would never make her rich or famous. But it was enough to pay for her food and rent and the occasional girls’ night out.
That is what they are doing now. They had started off with drinks at Erica’s apartment because she was walking distance from the club. Marinette went back with her to help her pick out an outfit. She frequently made outfits for her friends and they would often cover the cost of the nights out so it was an even trade and she didn’t have to worry about bringing enough cash to cover the evening out. Her friends were under the impression that she had a really bad past with money and that is why she couldn’t get an account. She encouraged the thought so they wouldn’t ask for details. They didn’t even know about her arrangement with the fabric shop. She knew that it would be very strange for them.
The giggles when she came back were a little suspicious. She looked around and none of them cracked so she just dumped her drink and started fresh. She didn't want to risk whatever they might have done to it. They downed a couple drinks and then headed out the door giggling. Marinette soon forgot all about their suspicious behavior when they started acting normal again. They just focused on the night. Lisa had just broken up with her boyfriend so she wanted to forget and that is just what they were going to help her do. They gathered their bags and phones and headed out the door whooping and laughing all the way.
It was a few hours later before Marinette got back on her phone. She had to take it away from the others because they were playing with it and Marinette could tell they had added something on there. She tried to keep herself calm when she realized it was a dating app. She had to keep herself from hyperventilating. She had been careful for years to make sure there weren’t any good photos of her online but this one would be perfect to use to search for her. She was smiling and looking right at the camera. Her hair was much different. She kept it short now and never similar to the pigtails she used before but that wouldn’t matter to the software that could be used.
The others were laughing when they showed her. She already had a lot of messages and they were oogling the one who had just super liked her. The app had a location based feature and they had turned it on. He was close, very close. He was probably in this club or just outside. There were not any other buildings open close by.
---
Dick was surprised when he randomly found the woman. On a dating app of all places. It seemed such an odd thing for her to do after having not had any internet presence for years. He changed his shirt and grabbed his keys to head towards the location she was. The app didn’t provide an exact location but there weren’t residences near the location and not many options for places open that she could be at right now. His hunch paid off when he went to the club nearby and got a pop up from the app that she was nearby. He had never actually used the location based feature so he swiped at the screen so he wouldn’t send anything to her. Unfortunately he swiped the wrong way and super liked her. It automatically sent her a message with his profile.
His frantic swiping managed to close the app right after and then he dropped his phone in his panic. He reached to pick it back up and there was a blonde woman standing before him when he stood back up. She was offering to let him buy her a drink. He tried to brush her off but she was insistent. Dick was just trying to turn his phone back on so he could get back on the app and fix his mistake. She grabbed the hand with his phone and pulled it close to her chest.
“What could possibly be so interesting about your phone when I am right here?”
“I was in the middle of something. Don’t want to send the wrong message but I dropped the phone.”
He pulled back on his hand to keep her from deciding where she should put it. Instead he guided her up to the bar and asked her what she wanted. The bartender luckily looked right over at them, probably interested in the lady’s assets but Dick had no time to be worried about it. She ordered a drink and as soon as the bartender told the price he dropped a twenty and told the man to keep the change. He wasn’t even there when the woman turned back to find out why he wasn’t getting anything. He moved through the crowd, sparing glances at his phone as he moved through the crowd. He had just managed to load it when two more ladies popped up right in front of him. He couldn’t hear what they were saying. He tried to put them off but they guided him a bit forcefully until he was at a table with the woman in the picture.
---
Marinette was stressing, trying to figure out how to deactivate the profile and make sure that the picture would not remain there to be found. She immediately turned off the location but she couldn’t find out whether or not the picture would be removed if she deleted the app. They were not making it easy to take down her account. She thought she might have finally found out how to erase the whole thing when Lisa and Sara returned with the man she recognized from the app. She tried to keep the shock off her face and gave a shy smile to cover her trepidation. She had thought maybe he had used a fake picture but if anything, he looked far better in person than his selfie camera had captured.
She had a strong ability to read people. She had always found it useful so she could gauge people’s intent in uncertain situations. She didn’t have a good read on the man but he did not seem very excited to be meeting her. Maybe he was nervous. That she certainly understood after spending years tripping over her words in front of every crush she had since college. She had always hoped that it was just Adrien since he was so famous and the son of the designer she had admired. That and he was very dreamy, much like the man in front of her now.
She wasn’t sure how to handle the situation. Actually she would like to just tell him the truth but that was more difficult to do with an audience. Her friends had done something that complicated her life but it hadn’t been malicious. They just wanted her to be happy and thought they would help. They were under the impression that she had some terrible experience that had led her to not want to be in a relationship. That was true but it was hiding from all of her past, not a former boyfriend.
She had checked the news after they had gotten away. She and Adrien had been revealed to each other after the battle. He was already planning on running. There was a suspected involvement of someone else who may or may not have been informed about their identities. Even if not, Adrien could not stay and face Paris after his father’s crimes. He knew he would likely be under scrutiny and they could not share their identities. Marinette had decided she would also leave. The battle and aftermath had taken hours before they could return to their lives. But someone had noticed Marinette missing and suggested a link. Several people had taken the idea and run with it before Marinette had time to get home and defend herself. She could see the police waiting at her home so she swung away and waited until dark to sneak in and collect some things. Adrien had enough money to help her get away but they went separately. She found evidence of other missing miraculous from the recovered book and needed to secure them. She had never seen or contacted anyone from Paris since. It had been a struggle when she had seen her parents run out of Paris but there was no way she could help them. Public opinion was very strongly against her.
---
Dick didn’t think the girl looked all that delighted to meet him. He couldn’t blame her. He hadn’t seen if she reacted to the accidental matching but her friends were clearly leading the show here. They were laughing and making jokes and Marinette was clearly just playing along. They all made introductions which would be important so he didn’t accidentally call her a name he had no right to know before it was given to him. He quickly waved down a waitress to have drinks delivered. The groups was happy to let him get a round and Dick found that the best option so he wouldn’t have to focus on conversation. He would use the same distraction as he had used with the last lady and escape while they were distracted.
Dick paid for the round and tipped generously. Marinette had gone to the bathroom a moment ago so it was easy for him to slip away while the rest of the group was excited about the drinks. He hadn’t ordered anything for himself so he easily lost himself in the crowd while they were distracted. He looked around for a smoking exit so it would look like he would be right back and then he just hopped over the fence. He needed to figure out how to remove himself from the match without making it seem too obvious. He was looking down at his phone and almost ran into a figure in the dark.
---
Marinette said she was going to the bathroom but really she snuck off to get away. She would send a message when she got home so her friends wouldn’t worry. She could easily say that meeting him had made her anxious. It was actually true. Maybe he was a fine person to know but she didn’t want to be found and she couldn’t see dating anyone right now. She didn’t know if she ever could. She had just found a miraculous being used near here after searching for years. All the clues had led her here to find it once she activated it. Actually she wasn’t even sure if she had managed to activate it or if it had activated by some other means. There had been other magic used in the area recently but she wasn’t very familiar with it. Sometimes she wondered if she should just turn everything over to the temple like they had wanted before. She just didn’t want to have the guardian amnesia preventing her from protecting herself from the past.
She was lost in thought when she nearly walked right into Dick. They both probably looked like deer in headlights trying to escape from the set up. He spoke first which was a relief. Marinette didn’t know what to say until he explained.
“Oh, this probably looks bad,” he looked down for a moment. “It’s really nothing against you but I had dropped my phone after your profile came up. It did the super like with that and showed where you were. Then your friends found me but you seemed really nervous so I decided to leave.”
“It’s awkward, not bad,” she said. “My version is the opposite. My friends signed me up to help me out but I’m not very good at meeting people. I had just found out a moment before you showed up and I was trying to delete the app.”
“That would be a great story to tell our grandkids about how we met. But instead, how about I drop you off at home and you can decide for yourself whether or not you want to date anyone. Maybe I'll just leave you my number.”
“A ride would be nice. I don’t think I have enough for a cab all the way home. Thank you.”

A Theory about Akumas (and Princess Justice)
So I noticed something about akumas, specifically their powers and their intended targets vs. affected targets.
I’ve compiled every instance I can remember of an akuma infecting someone other than its intended target:
1. Chameleon
2. Zombizou
3. Startrain
4. Miraculer
Let’s break down what happened to see what these instances have in common.
1. Chameleon:
In this episode, Lila convinces everyone in the class to switch their seats around so she can sit with Adrien in the very front, while Marinette is kicked to the very back. After Lila threatens her, and turns her classmates and friends against her, Hawk Moth sends out an akuma to evilize Marinette. The akuma comes close to infecting her in the classroom, but when Marinette becomes distracted by classwork, the akuma hover around, waiting for her emotions to come back. Once Lila threatens her in the bathroom, the akuma comes back to once again try to akumatize her, but she fights it off. The akuma ends up crossing the path of Lila, who uses it to her advantage and has it akumatize her through her earring. Her powers in this episode gave her the ability to steal someone’s physical form transitively through kissing them.
2. Zombizou:
In this episode, it is Ms. Bustier’s birthday. The whole class has brought gifts for her except for Chloe, who is implied to have forgotten. Chloe ends up sabotaging part of Marinette’s gift for Ms. Bustier— a make-up bag. Ms. Bustier opens Marinette’s gift in front of the class to reveal the sabotaged gift, and Marinette becomes upset, which leads Ms. Bustier to bring Marinette out into the hallway to talk about how being a good example for kids like Chloe is key, which calms her down. However, the akuma was already sent out, and so it lingers over Marinette and Ms. Bustier until Ms. Bustier is afraid enough for it to infect her. She then becomes Zombizou, and her powers are that she can make people into zombies by kissing them, likewise those zombies can infect other people the same way.
3. Startrain
In this episode, the class is taking a field trip to London on the new Startrain train that is operated by none other than Max’s mom. Roger is driving Sabrina— who is constantly being spammed by Chloe with remarks to hurry up— to the trains station, but he keeps encountering people breaking laws whom are getting away with it because he is off-duty. An akuma is sent out to evilize him, but the akuma becomes trapped in Sabrina’s luggage full of items Chloe may need, and Roger successfully drops off Sabrina and gets back to giving people tickets. The akuma remains in the luggage on the Startrain until Sabrina opens the bag and the akuma infects Max’s mom. Her power as Startrain is to control the train— meaning she can control its location and its interior capabilities— and to use the train to whatever she sees fit.
4. Miraculer -
In this episode, Chloe is standing by for Ladybug to give her the bee miraculous once more so she can fight villains again, and becomes disappointed when she doesn’t turn up. Sabrina, meanwhile, is trying to make Chloe feel better, and asks her if she wants to play “heroes”. Chloe flips out on Sabrina, scaring her away. Now alone, an akuma is sent to Chloe to evilize her and infects a photo of her and Ladybug, but Chloe effectively resists the akuma and it reroutes to successfully infect Sabrina. Sabrina’s powers as Miraculer are that she can steal the powers of any miraculous she can obtain and she can switch between them as she pleases.
Now for what they have in common. Note how in the first two examples, Chameleon and Zombizou, both of their powers are transmitted through kissing. The common factor is that they were both intended for Marinette.
For Miraculer, the miraculous power-stealing ability could have made sense for Chloe, too, because of how desperate she was to have a miraculous once again. For Startrain, the ability to punish people through the controlling of a mode of transportation could have easily been applied to Roger, who desired to punish the ill-doers he saw and who was within his own police car at the time.
The conclusion I reached here was this: An akuma is sent out with powers based on the emotions of the intended target, not whoever ended up as the recipient. Most of the time, the intended target ends up being the recipient of the akuma. But in those episodes mentioned, the two were different.
The assumption that an akuma can be sent out with specific powers in mind (based on the specific emotions/desires of the intended target) can also be seen in Catalyst, when Hawk Moth effortlessly gives Nathalie the specific powers he needs in order to become Scarlet Moth, just as they had planned. Knowledge that an akuma can have specific powers assigned to it based on its intended recipient was what made that plan work. If Hawk Moth had not known what kind of powers the akuma would give Nathalie, then that plan would not have been able to work. Her powers were to give Hawk Moth the ability to become Scarlet Moth because that was her strongest desire, and that’s why the plan worked.
(The akuma’s powers have been shown to be directly related to the desires of its intended recipient before, too. This is because, firstly, this can be seen in every akuma. In Timebreaker, Alix wished for her pocketwatch to be fixed, and so her powers granted her the ability to do that. In Malediktator, Andre Bourgeois wanted to be seen as powerful and worthy to Chloe, so his powers made him an all-powerful dicatator. In Mr. Pigeon, Mr. Ramier wanted justice for the pigeons, and his powers allowed him to make pigeons essentially rule the world. Each power the villain ended up with not only could’ve been applied to its original target, but the powers could be seen in what the targets wanted. )
To summarize:
Chloe wanted her miraculous, but more specifically, the powers her miraculous gave her. She was desperate enough to get her miraculous back that she tried the stupid dance and chant that Lila (who she didn’t even know) had told her would summon Ladybug. This is why Miraculer’s powers being to steal the powers of the miraculous and use them for herself makes total sense for if Chloe were to have been akumatized isntead.
Roger wanted to have control again, to be able to punish the people he saw breaking the law, but was confined by his duty to Sabrina. The fact that he was in his police car made it even worse, because it was almost a taunting of the power he had but the inability to carry out any of that power due to obligation. Therefore, his power being to control and punish, especially through his vehicle, makes sense.
And, finally, the most interesting one, since she has yet to be akumatized. In both Chameleon and Zombizou, Marinette wanted to remain in the safe, loving space of her classroom friend group but was attacked and made to feel hated instead of loved, so it makes sense that her power would’ve been spreading evil or growing her own power transitively through a kiss. This is why I believe when Marinette gets akumatized at some point (likely, as teased, into Princess Justice), her power will affect people through kissing them, just like Chameleon and Zombizou.
this might be a stretch but??? I feel like it makes sense????? I think I’m onto something here

The Bourgeois Twins AU
The Origins of Lilybird and Kitty Claws
André decides that Chloé and Zoé should spend their high school years in Paris.
And thus Audrey, Zoé and Chloé are in Paris after saying goodbye to the many friends they've made in New York.
When Adrien hears that Chloé and Zoé are gonna be going to a public school in Paris, he was extra determined to get to school.
When Miss Bustier's class hears that they're getting three new comers to the school, they're quite happy.
Little did they know, Hawkmoth has his own plans for the school year.
But so does Master Fu!
Chloé and Zoé were walking towards the Dupain-Cheng Bakery when they see Fu in danger.
Zoé's quick to get him out of danger and Fu knew at that moment who was getting the Ladybug Miraculous.
When it comes to Chat Noir, it went differently.
Adrien made sure that Nathalie and the Bodyguard wouldn't catch him and he gets into the school with no problems.
Chloé's actually the one to help Fu up before she and Zoé went into the school.
Since the two girls were sisters, this made things easier for Fu.
When Adrien sees Zoé and Chloé in the hallway he hugs them both tightly, so happy to see them.
Nino and Adrien sit together and become fast friends.
Chloé sees Alix and Sabrina talking and tries to sit next to Alix, before she could Alix calls Mylène over to sit with her.
Chloé sits with Sabrina and the two get along fast.
Since Alya moved from New York as well, she's quite similar of the Bourgeois Sisters, but is quite happy to officially meet them.
Zoé's put in Aurore and Marc's class, where she becomes good friends with them, but also meets three bullies.
She stands up to them pretty quickly.
The three blonde teens think this is gonna be a nornal first day... NOPE!
- Kim still makes fun of Ivan on Mylène & gets him sent to the Principal's office.
- Ivan gets akumatized into Stoneheart & wants revenge on Kim.
- Stoneheart scares and nearly hurts everyone.
- Chloé and Zoé go to their room in Le Grand Paris and sees the Miraculous boxes on their suit cases.
- They two meet Tikki and Plagg. While they're both scared at first, they snap out of it, the kwamis explain everything to them, and they transform.
- And thus, they start their first day as super heroines.
When heart had found Kim and along with a few other students (including Alix) on the field, but before he could hurt him, the heroines show up.
Alya's also there recording everything.
While they did defeat Stoneheart, Zoé had a feeling she was forgetting something.
But before she could remember Alya was asking her and Chloé what their superhero names were for her blog.
Lilybird: You can call me... Lilybird!
Kitty Claws: Yeah and I'm Kitty Claws. We gotta go now!
And thus Alya's Lilyblog was born!
But Zoé still forgets about the Akuma and Stonehearts were everywhere!
When Zoé discovers she screwed this badly, Chloé comforts her and insists that they're gonna try again when they get a chance.
When they get back to school, a girl named Sarah was making fun of Ivan for the Stoneheart situation.
The twins see Alix push the girl away from Ivan and she just walks away.
Marinette convinces Ivan to sing his song to Mylène, but when he does that he scares her off.
And thus... the Main Stonehearts back!
He grabs Mylène, but before he could grab Marinette, Alix pushes her out the way, but she's grabbed instead.
Lilybird and Kitty Claws had already transformed at this point and were chasing him, but other Stonehearts held them back.
The two were able to get away from them and get to the Eiffel Tower.
Roger demands that Stoneheart brings both girls down.
He responds by throwing Alix towards the ground, which causes Kitty Claws to catch her before she hit the ground.
When Roger that's berate Lilybird, Kitty Claws shuts him up real quick. Which caused Alix to giggle.
When Hawkmoth shows his face in the form of butterflies, both Lilybird and Kitty Claws tells him off before Lilybird purifies all the butterflies and Paris starts cheer for her.
Alix was more focused on Kitty Claws though.
The heroines were quickly caught up to fast by Alix and the three came up with a plan that involved the Lucky Charm.
After putting that plan into action, the day is saved and the Miraculous Cure is used.
The school day was quite normal after that.
Gabriel thought that the akuma would scare Adrien into wanting to be Home Schooled again, but NOPE!
Gabriel let him go to school, but only if he does the extra classes and activities he picks out for him. Adrien absolutely agrees to this.
After school, the Bourgeois Sisters were waiting for their limo when Alix walks up to them.
Alix: Hey, I never got to introduce myself. I'm Alix. If you want, I could show you two around Paris if you're free.
Zoé: That sounds awesome! Right Chloé?
Chloé, internally: THIS GIRL IS SO PRETTY!!
Chloé, out loud: Yeah... that sounds great.
Chloé watches as Alix walked away with her umbrella over her head.
Their limo then sounds up and takes them to the hotel.
Zoé will be sure to tease Chloé about her crush later.
Let me know if you want more posts about this AU!

Part 2 - Basic Concepts of Miraculous Ladybug: Kwami
Kwamis are a fun concept and one of the main draws of the series. They make sense story-wise because, firstly, our characters need some support system. And since a lot of conflicts are centred around secret identities, characters should be able to discuss their double life with someone. As magical beings they could also be used to expand the lore, introduce new concepts and drive forward both the plot and character development. It doesn't always happen but Kwamis are a good idea. Some people who write AU's think that Kwamis are redundant, but I have to disagree.
Tumblr media
Origins and nature
Where do Kwamis come from? What are they? It's never explained. Oh wait, it was explained in a comic people can accidentally find. You decide to explain the origins and nature of magical beings who are one of the key elements in your magic system and worldbuilding IN A SIDE COMIC, which has zero effect on your main story. Sounds legit.
Here it is.
Tumblr media
So, Kwamis are abstract creatures. They can become tangible and interact with the world because of the miraculous jewels. Essentially, each Miraculous acts as an anchor to the material world for Kwami. They existed since the beginning of time and were invisible observers of the universe. Until they settled on Earth and observed how humanity came to be. This is where things get interesting.
Kwamis are the embodiment of abstract concepts. But, some abstract concepts were created by people (like everything mentioned in the comic: beauty, math, love, etc).
Kwamis wanted to help humans. And then, a human, who couldn't see, hear or touch a Kwami creates miraculous jewels. And now these beings can interact with the world, use their powers and grant them to humans. Yet, they are completely under control of their holder. I'll discuss it later, but why did Kwamis accept this deal? They are practically enslaved. At the same time they care about people and generally love humanity.
Tumblr media
According to the wiki Kwamis grant powers because of "the privilege of having the ability to be perceived by mortals". What? Did I read that right? Kwamis agreed to be enslaved and used as a power source, because they wanted to interact with material world. That's it, guys, end of the story.
We also know these things about nature and abilities of Kwamis from the show:
1) need food, but only to provide the power for the holder;
2) can't phase through precious metals (Chloe's bracelet in "Rogercop"), their own miraculous and humans;
3) they can control if they phase through things or not – meaning that if they want to, they can (this way Tikki can stay in Marinette’s purse without much trouble and Plagg sleeps on Adrien’s pillow);
4) they can perform magic without a holder but they don’t control it very well, there are certain types of things that they can’t do without a holder;
5) they are immortal but can get sick for some reason, a non-magical reason mind you;
6) technology can't detect them in any way, you can't film, photograph or record their voices (writers establish this many times, but promptly forget all about their own rules in "Optigami", where Marinette talks with Kwamis over the phone without any problems).
If I missed something important, then let me know.
Look, the questions related to origins and motivations of Kwamis might not be very prominent in your story right now, but you must answer them in case you might need to involve these facts in the plot down the line. It's important to avoid contradictions in the serialised story with liquid plot, that can't be set in stone. It's a made up world for the sake of everything sacred! You can make up explanations and rules, of course as long as they don't contradict common sense.
Plausible ideas for origins and nature of Kwamis:
1) Kwamis are immortal spirits, whom humans accidentally summoned and bound with spells to Miraculous stones. They remember their existence before this. This version doesn't really explain their desire to serve people and love for humanity, however. It would be more logical for Kwamis to resent people for enslaving them. It doesn't explain how humans could create those spells and Miraculous stones either.
2) Kwamis are physical manifestations of abstract concepts who existed simply as fragments of matter for a very long time without sentience, until they were accidentally summoned through the Miraculous stones and bound by humans to serve them. Kwamis do not remember their existence before Miraculous. In this version Kwamis serve humans and love them because they have never known a different kind of existence. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide any explanation on the creation of Miraculous and spells.
3) Kwamis are gods, who created the universe with all its elements and concepts including humanity (similar to Valar and Maiar in Tolkien's Legendarium). They wanted to help their creations but discovered that their power was too wild and unpredictable for that. So, Kwamis decided to give up their free will and magical independence to help humanity. Together they created Miraculous stones for humans to use and sealed themselves inside. Kwamis as gods were abstract concepts, who didn't have a body. The act of sealing their power in the Miraculous gave them an opportunity to interact with outside world (an anchor) and each Kwami chose an small animal form (because humans easily formed bonds with animals, had animal companions (pets), small animals look non-threatening and familiar). Kwamis intentionally choose certain animal forms to suit the human symbolism. Humans later used magic that Kwamis discovered for them to place spells upon small gods (spells related to identity protection and so on). This version answers most questions, but if Kwamis are gods then powers they grant to people seem to be rather small.
Feel free to add more. I would be interested to hear your ideas.
Identity Protection
In "Origins" we learn that Wayzz can sense the aura of Butterfly Miraculous, a negative aura of activated Butterfly Miraculous, to be more precise. And yet, Tikki and Plagg are genuinely surprised to discover the identities of their holders in "Dark Owl". There are several things wrong with that.
Can Kwamis sense each other's presence? They shouldn't be able to do this to protect the identities of their holders. On the other hand, they are ancient spirits. So, their inability to sense each other seems weird. Unless it's the same situation as with the spell that does not allow them to speak the name of their holder aloud.
But if they can sense each other like Wayzz did, then it means that Plagg and Nooroo were living in the same house for over a year and nothing happened. I mean, Plagg could have just come upstairs, take off the brooch from Gabriel, while he is asleep and return it back to Fu.
This question lies right here, on the surface. And that's only one massive and very obvious plothole. How to fix it? Establish that Kwami can't sense each other for identity protection. In "Origins" Fu meditates on his balcony and Wayzz sees a charged Akuma flying by. That's how they discover that Butterfly is in Paris and the Miraculous is in the wrong hands. Perhaps, Gabriel akumatizes someone for the first time to survey the surroundings and general public is not aware of this. This works better in the narrative, giving Fu time to select holders for Ladybug and Black Cat. It also establishes whether Hawkmoth can remove the Akuma from someone without Ladybug and discharge it. Maybe it depends on the circumstances (sometimes he can, but if this person was akumatized many times or their emotions are too strong and their mind doesn't want to let Akuma go then Hawkmoth can't pull the butterfly out with his magic). This scenario allows for Volpina to happen on "Heroes' Day". Silly recurring Akumas like Gigantitan and Mr. Pigeon could still happen. In this case Gabriel didn't want to akumatize the guy more than 70 times on purpose. It just keeps happening against his better judgement because evil butterflies are automatically attracted to Mr. Ramier. This way repeated attacks of Mr. Pigeon annoy Hawkmoth just as much as they do the heroic duo of Paris (I did not sign up for this Nathalie!).
Let's come back to the spell mentioned earlier for a moment. Kwamis can't say the name of their current holder out loud, but apparently, they can exploit a loophole in the spell by confirming the identity of their holder in another way. The spell doesn't work with other holders. Kwami can say the names of other holders if they know their identity. That being said, can the holder order the Kwami to tell them the identities of other heroes if they know them?
Kwamis know how each Miraculous looks with or without camouflage. Can the holder order the Kwami to tell them how each Miraculous looks in disguise (I liked that Grimoire doesn't have pictures of camouflage for identity protection)? Guardians can recognise Miraculous in any mode (Su Han). Did Fu teach Marinette this? Does she know how each Miraculous looks like unactivated?
Oh! Since we are discussing camouflage, let's take a moment to appreciate the Mother Of All Plotholes. Plagg didn't recognise Peacock because of the plot.
Tumblr media
Relationship with Holder
I absolutely loved the idea that Kwamis must obey their holder introduced in "Sandboy". This concept opens tons of plot opportunities. It's such a great idea that makes sense, has potential, can create conflict. Why, oh, why didn't writers develop it more?
Like, it was so good. It can be a great push for character development. This concept resolves so many existing inconsistencies within the plot. It's mind-blowing.
Why can't Nooroo simply leave Gabriel, so that he wouldn't be able to transform? Because Gabriel bound him with Miraculous to always stay near.
In "Sandboy" Tikki asks Marinette's permission before going to the meeting. Plagg lies to Adrien instead. This implies that usually Plagg's holders weren't kind to him or feared his power (Su Han's remark in "Furious Fu"). Perhaps, his holders were taught to keep the Kwami of destruction under constant control. So, Plagg in turn has learned not to ask, because if he doesn't ask permission then his holder can't deny him freedom with magic.
Can Kwami lie to their holder? Maybe they can't lie to their holder about their nature, origins and powers and other Miraculous (but Kwamis can't reveal the location of Miracle Box, Guardian's identity and can't confirm identities of other holders known to them in any way). Kwami would be forced to speak even if they don't want to. That's why Nooroo told Gabriel everything about the abilities of the Butterfly Miraculous and the wish secret of Ladybug and Black Cat.
But Kwamis can lie to their holder according to Plagg in "Sandboy". If Kwamis can lie about everything (including powers) then Nooroo didn't have any reason to be honest with Gabriel way back in "Origins".
Speaking of Gabriel and Nooroo. Can Kwamis harm their holder? Maybe doing so would harm the Kwami as well. Can they do it only when the holder is not wearing the Miraculous? Can Kwami take their Miraculous from their holder? Will they disappear if they try to do so? It seems like Kwami disappears only when the holder takes off the Miraculous with the intention of renouncing power, the words "I renounce you" are not necessary.
Other Kwamis can take the Miraculous from people if it's not their own (Wayzz in "Feast"). But what if it wasn't possible. Imagine what could happen if it's not possible to take the Miraculous by force from the transformed or untransformed hero. Just like Lady WiFi couldn't remove Ladybug's mask. A person has to willingly give up the Miraculous. Only in this case, it's possible to take it. For example, somewhere around the middle of season 3 Hawkmoth could have trapped Ladybug and Chat Noir and cut off any escape routes. His Akuma tries to take both Miraculous, but they don't budge. Then afterwards, every Akuma tries to manipulate the heroes using hostages, illusions or mind control. It's hard to say whether this version will be better than canon, but it's a fascinating theory.
You can use the idea of obedience to create more situations contrasting the relationship of Plagg and Adrien, Gabriel and Nooroo. I liked how canon created a storyline about Plagg learning to control his powers without a holder and Adrien helping him. However, why would you stop here? Give us some flashbacks about Plagg's previous holders, tell us what kind of people they were. Expand the lore and add some character development for Plagg and Adrien. The same thing goes for Marinette. What kind of battles did they have in the past? What kind of people past holders were? Did Ladybug and Black Cat heroes always get along well? Were they allies or enemies? Were they always lovers?
Give us more information about Butterfly and Peacock holders. Perhaps Nooroo has dreams about his past holders who were good people. Show us what kind of things a Butterfly holder with good intentions can do. Tell us more about Duusu and her past holders, sprinkle in a few bits of info about Emilie and Duusu's relationship, just a few vague hints to preserve the mystery. You have a lot of screentime each season and instead of doing filler episodes dedicated to love drama, you can use them for developing minor characters, relationships between them and lore.

Note
I honestly like that Chole betrayed them at the end of season 3. It genuinely seemed like an interesting and good move to me.
I thought she was going to have a arch like Zuko's from Avatar: The Last Air Bender. (Very general spoilers ahead) Where he's bad, good for a bit, bad again, then permanently good (along with the internal struggle in-between those alignments).
But every time she's shown up in season 4 (as far as I've seen) she's not "bad" (as in actively working with Hawkmoth or if not that, trying to sabotage Ladybug) she's just... The annoying school bully that hates Marinette. She's not developing anymore either and she shows very little remorse for her actions. It's like it's season 1 again. I'm still holding out for Chloe redemption in season 5 or later because I don't see the show/writing as being *so bad* that they ignore Chloe's character entirely. But it definitely makes me uneasy with how they've handled her so far. And it also makes me lose hope a bit for how good a redemption it will be if they're not building her up to be anything more than an annoyance at school.
I don't mind Zoé's character. She doesn't have much going on but she also hasn't appeared too much as a relevant character. I think they can make her better with time. But with how Chloe's being written now, it really does feel like Zoé just exists at this point to replace Chloe in the Queen Bee role. Which is just stupid? It's fine to replace Queen Bee (personally would like to see Chloe develop without the miraculous and to never get one again even after she's "good") but I don't get why you'd introduce a character *just* to replace her. They could literally write fights that don't require the bee miraculous at all. Or have Ladybug or someone else use it. It doesn't *have* to be Chloe nor does it *have* to be someone new. So Zoé, while I do somewhat like her, just feels like an unnecessary character to have.
Again, my problem with Chloe is that the writers don’t want her to be a hero anymore, but they don’t want her to be a full-blown villain or even an anti-hero. They clearly don’t want the audience to root for Chloe anymore, but they don’t want to go all the way with her character even though it makes sense for her to help out Shadowmoth as a field agent now that Nathalie is bedridden from using the Peacock Miraculous. They built her up as a serious threat in the Season 3 finale after her previous akumatizations were, and now we get even more comedic-looking Akuma forms for her like Queen Banana and Penalteam.
The thing about how the writers are trying and failing to shake up Chloe’s character after the betrayal is even worse because there’s a show that has a character who was manipulated by another villain and eventually turned against her allies, and one with a bee motif at that, that is far more complex in only a few episodes compared to everything Chloe’s done this season.
Aguilera, from the currently airing Kamen Rider Revice, was supposedly the leader of the Deadmans cult, which intended to resurrect their demonic leader, Giff, with Aguilera acting as Giff’s “fiance”. However, it was later revealed that she wasn’t actually the leader of the cult, as another villain, Olteca, planned to sacrifice her to act as the vessel for Giff once he was resurrected. Even after the other Kamen Riders saved her from being sacrificed and it seemed like the statue containing Giff’s spirit was destroyed, it broke her. Because she was conditioned to love Giff since a child and because she hated both the heroes and true villains, she went rogue and is currently affiliated with herself and a recently depowered/reformed villain who still wants to help her, Julio. In addition, the Kamen Riders, mainly Sakura/Kamen Rider Jeanne, who fights Aguilera the most.
In just a few episodes, there’s an interesting shake-up in the status quo connected to Aguilera, she becomes a greater threat after assuming her Queen Bee Deadman form, and there’s more drama as the heroes still want to help this woman who was conditioned to love a demonic god and is really screwed up in the head.
Compare this to Chloe, who just acts worse than she ever did before without really explaining what she did last season to the point where you’d think this was a parody of her, as the other characters stop trying to help her and traded her in for the new model, Zoe.
Is it any surprise I think the actual villainess with depth is more interesting than what Astruc’s team is doing with Chloe right now?

Hey! So, I was wondering if you could do me a favor.
Can you tell me what’s been happening in ML since Miracle Queen?
I jumped ship back then because of Fandom Drama and Toxicity, and I can’t get ahold of the show itself because my internet is shit right now. I want to rejoin the fandom and catch up, but it isn’t easy to figure out what’s going on. Especially since my only available avenue for Fandom News is the… Uh… (be nice be nice be nice) Mess that is Tumblr.
Can you help me out?

For Maribat March Day 31 - Reunion
The school trip to Gotham was supposed to be fun. It was supposed to be a reward to the class, a celebration of the recent defeat of Hawkmoth by Ladybug and Chat Noir. Marinette wanted to celebrate. She really didn't want to cry on the trip. Yet, as the plane touched down in Gotham, Marinette was staring out the plane window at the rain and the setting sun, rubbing her eyes, trying her best to brush away the tears before they formed.
"Are you okay, Marinette?" Alya looked over at Marinette, concern visible on her face.
Marinette nodded weakly, blinking away the wetness in her eyes. "I'm fine. I just... I have some bad memories associated with Gotham. One of my childhood friends... his parents were murdered on a trip to Gotham and I lost contact with him after that. It's always been a very raw subject for me."
Alya opened her mouth to respond, but before she could get a word out, Lila leaned across the aisle to interrupt the conversation. "Your childhood friend's parents were murdered on a trip to Gotham? It's okay to admit that you're scared of Gotham because of the supervillains. You don't have to come up with some outlandish story for why you're upset."
Marinette glared over at Lila, her eyes shiny from both her tears and her anger. "I wasn't talking to you, Lila, but for your information, I'm not making up a story. I wouldn't lie about the death of my friend's parents. I hate liars."
Lila flinched back, her eyes wide and innocent. "I'm sorry, Marinette. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that you could tell the truth. We wouldn't judge you for it."
Alya frowned, giving Lila a stern look. "Lila, Marinette is seriously upset. I don't think that this is the right time to lecture her."
"Oh, of course." As soon as Alya turned away from her, Lila's expression was murderous. Marinette could care less. She turned away and ignored Lila, not in the mood to deal with the liar's taunts. If she could just hold back her tears until they got off the plane, maybe she could pretend that it was the rain that was making her face wet.
It took an hour to get from the plane to the hotel room, and that hour was torture for Marinette, who spent the entire journey holding back tears. As soon as Alya shut the door to their hotel room with a click, Marinette finally let herself cry, curling up into a ball on the hotel bed.
Marinette felt Alya wrapped her arms around her in a hug. "I've got you, Marinette. It'll be okay."
Marinette didn't know how long she cried for. All she knew was that when the tears finally stopped, the sky had gone dark outside. "What time is it?"
"It's a little past eight. I texted Nino to tell Ms. Bustier that you weren't feeling well, so she won't be bothering you with any class president duties tonight."
"Thanks." Marinette shifted herself from lying on her side to sitting up. "Have I ever told you what happened to Dick?"
Alya shook her head. "You've mentioned him a few times, but only that you two were friends when you were younger, and then lost touch."
Marinette sighed. "It all started when I was nine years old. My Grandma Gina was babysitting me for the weekend. She was old friends with the ringmaster of a circus that was in Paris, so she took me there to stay the weekend. That was where I met Dick and his parents..."
Marinette told the story in bursts, stopping to cry every few minutes when she got too emotional to continue. "...And I never spoke to him again after that. Gotham's foster care records aren't open to the public, and I stopped myself from Googling his name a long time ago. It just hurts too much to get my hopes up."
Alya wrapped Marinette up in another hug. "I'm sorry, Marinette. I wish there was something I could do to make this better."
"I think this trip might be good for me. It hurts a lot now, but I think once it's over I might finally feel a little more at peace."
"I hope so. But if there's ever any time where you need to just stop and let it all out, I'll be there for you."
"Thanks, Alya. You're the best."
Alya was Marinette's best friend, even if Alya was friends with Lila as well. That was Marinette's one regret - when she unmasked Hawkmoth and Mayura as Gabriel Agreste and Nathalie Sancour, there was no way to unmask Lila as a liar as well. Gabriel refused to name Lila as an accomplice, aware that admitting to having manipulated a teen girl into performing acts of terrorism wouldn't look good for him. So Lila was free to continue her reign of terror, though at least now Marinette could be rightfully angry with her, without fear of being akumatized.
----------
The class trip was partially sponsored by the Wayne Scholarship Foundation. Usually, the Wayne Scholarship Foundation only awarded scholarships, given to students all across America to pay for college, but after Hawkmoth's defeat and the media coverage that followed, a rather large sum was awarded to Marinette’s class for their bravery on the front lines of Hawkmoths' attacks. The Wayne Foundation organized tours and shows for them all over the city, starting with a tour of the Martha Wayne Memorial Botanical Gardens bright and early on the first morning of their trip. Then the class would go on a walking tour of Gotham during the afternoon, ending at a high-end sushi restaurant for dinner, followed by a night exploring East Hills Park during one of their famous firework shows. The late May day promised to be warm and sunny, so Marinette put on her favorite red floral sundress with a jean jacket overtop to hide the thin spaghetti straps, and sturdy tennis shoes to handle all of the walking she would be doing.
"Marinette!" gasped Lila as soon as Alya and Marinette walked into the main lobby. "Are you sure that your outfit is dress-code approved?"
Marinette rolled her eyes. "Yes, Lila. With my jacket on, this fits the dress code. I wouldn't make something that I can't wear."
"Okay. I was just checking. Your dress seemed a little too short to me, but I guess I just prefer something more modest."
As Lila walked away, Alya placed her hand on Marinette's shoulder in comfort. "I'm sure Lila didn't mean to come off as slut-shaming. I think she's just lashing out because wants to make sure you don't get in trouble for your outfit." Even Alya sounded uncertain of her explanation, as not even she believed herself. Without the support of Hawkmoth, Lila was no longer a cunning and calculated mastermind of manipulation. Now she was just a scared bully, desperately doing whatever she could to maintain her power over the class.
"Whatever," Marinette sighed. "I won't let her ruin my trip."
"That's the spirit. Besides, anyone with taste would know that your outfit looks super cute.”
Marinette smirked. "Are you saying that you don't think Lila has taste?"
"Definitely not as much taste as you. You're the Queen of Fashion Trends. You always look good." Alya put her arm around Marinette's shoulder. "Plus, you know better than to wear cowboy boots to school."
Marinette giggled as she remembered the incident. Lila came to school showing off her 'authentic' cowboy boots from America, seemingly unaware that they were the ugliest shoes anyone in their class had ever seen.
"You'll have a great day today, I promise." Alya walked with Marinette to the bus waiting outside. They got a seat up near the front, by Nino and Adrien.
Adrien had been the most affected by Hawkmoth's unmasking, given that it revealed his Father as a terrorist and his Mother as a coma-patient. All seemed lost for Adrien, as a team of Paris's best doctors revealed that Emilie Agreste was braid-dead. They planned on pulling the plug on Emilie's life support until, Amelie Graham de Vanily revealed that by combining the twin rings she and her sister owned with Ladybug's power of creation, together they had the power to bring Emilie back to life. Marinette was skeptical, after all, Amelie seemed to have ulterior motives in everything she did, but how could Marinette refuse when it was the only thing that she could do to help Adrien. In the end, she decided to help, no matter the consequences. Miraculously, it worked. Emilie was brought back to life and Adrien had a mother again.
However, in the aftermath of her decision, Marinette realized one crucial detail. In all of the chaos of deciding whether or not to work with Amelie, when she based her final decision on Adrien, she did it because he was her friend, not because he was her crush. At that moment, she realized that the overwhelming crush she had on Adrien since the age of thirteen had faded. In its place was a beautiful friendship.
"Good morning," chirped Adrien.
"What's up, dudes?" chimed in Nino.
"I can't believe we're here in Gotham. I thought our class trip to London was cool, but this is just incredible. I can't believe that the Wayne Foundation organized all of this for us," Alya gushed.
Marinette smiled. She knew that her friends deserved the vacation. Alya, Nino, and Adrien (though his involvement as Aspik was brief) all helped in the fight against Hawkmoth, even though they never revealed their superhero identities to each other. "What are you all most excited about?"
"I can't wait to see the Superhero Museum," said Alya. "I can't believe we were invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new exhibition."
"It is a celebration of the defeat of Hawkmoth. I suppose they wanted some real Parisians there to see it."
"I'm excited for Super: an American Musical, with the original cast. Did you guys know that this is their last week in Gotham before the show starts on Broadway!" Nino cheered.
Marinette smiled. "That is cool. I've heard that it's a fan favorite to win a Tony this year."
When all eyes landed on Adrien to answer the question, he shrugged. "I just want to experience everything. And take a lot of pictures. I promised my Mom that I would send her some."
"How about we take one now?" Marinette suggested.
Adrien nodded and the group of friends squeezed together to take a selfie.
"How about you, Marinette?"
"The Wayne Foundation Fundraising Gala," Marinette answered promptly. "It's one of the most influential events in fashion. I've heard that celebrities wear their second-best outfits to the Met Gala and save their best for the Wayne Gala. I know that the Wayne Foundation is paying for a shopping trip to pick out an outfit for the Gala, but I made my dress own and brought it here."
Alya laughed. "I should have guessed."
Marinette smiled sheepishly. "I couldn't resist. This is the first opportunity I've had to wear my newest creation."
"Do you have pictures of it?" asked Adrien.
Marinette shook her head. "I'm not showing anyone until the Gala. I'm keeping it safe in my room. I don't want to jinx anything."
"Hawkmoth is gone. We're in Gotham, living it up. Life is good." Alya summarized, and the whole group chimed in their agreement. Life was good.
----------
"Is everything in this city named after the Waynes?" asked Nino as they stepped off the bus in from of the Martha Wayne Memorial Botanical Gardens.
"The Waynes are one of the oldest and wealthiest families in Gotham. When you're that rich, life is just a game of buying your name onto as many buildings as possible," Adrien answered.
"The Waynes and their extraordinary money are the reason why we're here, so I'm willing to forgo making fun of everything they put their name on," Alya decided.
Once they got through the doors to the Botanical Garden, Marinette was entranced. Flowers of every shade surrounded her, the sound of rushing water and the rustling of leaves was the only thing she could hear, the smell of pollen and fresh air filled her lungs. It was heavenly.
"I'm Olivia, but you can all call me Liv," spoke the blonde tour guide as she approached the class. "I'll be giving you a tour of the Botanical Gardens, the largest sanctuary for endangered plants in New Jersey. We're known especially for our orchid garden, which we'll walk through at the end of our tour."
As the tour continued, Marinette noticed that one hallway was blocked off by a sign reading: Hydrangea Exhibition Coming This Fall.
Liv pointed out the hallway. "Down that hallway is the upcoming Hydrangea Exhibition, which is replacing the old New Jersey Wildflower exhibit. Now, I know you're all from out of town, but if you're even in Gotham again, make sure you check out the Botanical Gardens. We're always getting new exhibits-"
Liv was cut off by the sound of shattering glass. One of the panes of glass making up the room had been shattered, and shards rained down on screaming tourists. Marinette's eyes widened as she recognized Poison Ivy, lowering herself through the now opened ceiling on her vines. "You thought you could destroy the native vegetation of this city and get away with it? Nothing escapes my notice. Now, I would like to have a little chat with whoever's in charge here."
Liv motioned for all the students to get down, whispering, "As long as we stay out of Poison Ivy's way, we'll be perfectly fine. Just stay calm and stay quiet."
Marinette watched as the Director of the Botanical Gardens came out to reason with Poison Ivy. He pleaded with the villain, "We won't destroy any of the wildflower gardens, I swear. I'll make sure myself that the wildflower exhibit will be moved to public parks all across Gotham."
Poison Ivy shook her head. "That's not good enough. You think you can wash your hands of these flowers so long as someone else offers to take them? How long do you think the wildflower gardens will last without any sort of protection?"
"We'll make sure that the gardens are protected, I promise."
Narrowing her eyes, Poison Ivy gave the Director a cruel smile. "I hope for your sake, Mr. Joseph Hoffman of 524 Shelton Avenue, that nothing happens to those flowers. Otherwise..." Poison Ivy let the threat hang in the air, using her vines to ascend back up to the ceiling.
The next few moments were so chaotic and full of movement that Marinette couldn't quite piece together what had happened. All she knew was that one second Poison Ivy was leaving the way she came and the next second, Batman and Robin were facing her down in the middle of the Botanical Gardens.
"Oh, hello Batman, Robin. It's so nice to see you. I was just leaving though, so unless you want to fight me where all these plants - and civilians, I suppose - could get hurt, I would step out of my way."
"Poison Ivy, we both know that I can't just let you go free after you threatened this man's life."
Poison Ivy sighed dramatically. "Oh well, I gave you a chance. Now it looks like I'll have to start getting civilians involved. The villain's eyes panned over the room, her eyes just happening to make contact with Marinette's for a split second before Marinette looked away. But that split second was enough. Marinette felt vines start to wrap around her forearms, yanking her forward.
Marinette was pulled all the way over to Poison Ivy, Batman, and Robin, until she was stopped in between the villain and heroes. "What's your name?" Poison Ivy asked, a menacing smile on her face.
"M-Marinette," she stuttered out, eyes wide.
Batman's expression was stoic and unyielding, while Robin looked at her with wide, stunned eyes. Batman spoke, "Why don't we move this outside where no one - plants or civilians - will get hurt."
Poison Ivy nodded. "I will require a head start, though, so I'll keep my vines wrapped around Marinette's throat. As soon as I'm out of range the vines will go slack and she'll be able to go on with her day. However, if you start to come after me before then, I'll tighten my vines and poor little Marinette might not make it."
Marinette stiffened as the vines grew around her throat, just loose enough for her to take shallow breaths. Poison Ivy disappeared from view, but Marinette continued to stay perfectly still, desperately trying to slow her breathing before she hyperventilated. No one made a move toward Marinette, no one willing to risk the consequences of making a move while Poison Ivy could still control the vines.
After what felt like hours, but was really only about five minutes, the vines relaxed and fell to the floor. Marinette collapsed to the ground, lowering herself into the seated position so she could breathe a little bit easier.
"Are you alright?" asked Robin, kneeling next to her. "Are you having any trouble breathing?"
"I'm okay. I didn't get hurt. I was just scared."
Robin got up and held out his hand to help her to her feet. "Why don't we get you back with the rest of your group. Are you here with your family?"
Marinette shook her head. "I'm here on a school trip."
Robin walked Marinette over to her class, handing her off to Ms. Bustier, who let out a sigh of relief as she gently placed her hand on Marinette's shoulder. "I know that was a very scary situation, Marinette. If you would like, I can take you and Alya back to the hotel."
"No way!" protested Marinette. "I didn't even get hurt. Plus, we have the walking tour of Gotham today. I don't want to miss it."
"Are you sure?" Ms. Bustier glanced over toward Batman.
Batman joined the conversation, saying, "If Marinette prefers to continue her day as normal, then I would advise following Marinette's lead. Often, the best way to recover from an encounter with a villain is to go on with your life as normal."
Marinette nodded. "I want to stay with the rest of the class and go on with our day."
Ms. Bustier still looked hesitant but conceded anyway. "Alright. I think our tour of the Botanical Gardens is over, though. I doubt that they would let us continue, what with shattered glass all over the floors."
Liv led the group out of the building, commenting with a sigh, "It's a shame that Poison Ivy came and ruined the tour. The orchid garden is such an amazing exhibit, and now none of you will get to see it. Unless..." Liv glanced around. "There's no broken glass in the orchid garden, so I don't suppose why we couldn't leave the Botanical Garden through the side-exit past the orchid garden. What do you say, Marinette?"
Marinette smiled. "That sounds wonderful."
As the tour group turned to enter one of the hallways branching off of the main room, Marinette glanced behind her one last time. She made eye contact with Robin, who was watching her leave, an expression of wonder on his face. Marinette turned back around self-consciously rubbing the back of her neck. She wasn't sure why Robin looked at her like that. It wasn't a look that one would give a stranger, and yet they had never met before. Marinette thought it was odd, but the thought was gone from her mind as soon as her class entered the orchid garden. I'm here in Gotham for a week to have fun, she reminded herself, so no more investigating every strange occurrence.
----------
The walking tour of Gotham was just as fun and informative as Marinette anticipated, packed with interesting facts and amazing sights. She got a bunch of high-quality pictures of Gotham, good for putting in the blog post that Marinette (as class president) was in charge of putting together to go on the school website. Best of all, Lila didn't bother her for the whole tour. Even Lila knew that she couldn't bully Marinette and get away with it, after what Marinette had been through the morning.
The sushi restaurant was amazing too. Marinette had eaten sushi a few times before, but never anything as high-quality as what was served in the restaurant. Marinette decided that if this was what a field trip funded by the Wayne Foundation was like, then she was incredibly excited for the week to come.
Aside from the unfortunate interruption at the Botanical Garden, the day was perfect. Yet, Marinette couldn't stop thinking about the strange look on Robin's face. Had she done something wrong? Was she really safe from Poison Ivy? The thoughts lingered in her head, pestering her every time she felt safe and content.
"Listen up, class!" called out Ms. Bustier. "You'll all have exactly two hours to explore East Hills Park. The firework show starts in approximately half an hour, and ends half an hour before you have to meet up here, which should give you plenty enough time."
Marinette followed Adrien, Alya, and Nino off the bus and into the park. The group of friends started to explore the park, stumbling upon the statues and fountains that were scattered about the grounds.
"I found another Wayne!" Nino shouted from a few meters away. "This statue was dedicated to Patrick Wayne, who was Mayor of Gotham City - this was before they changed the name to just Gotham - from 1896-1904. His most notable achievement from his time in office was that he built over thirty new schools and eleven new library buildings in the city. He was known for his dedication to educating the City of Gotham."
It had become an inside joke between the group to try and find as many things in Gotham named after the Waynes as they could. The task turned out to be much less difficult than they had anticipated, so the group quickly switched tactics and began looking up the various Waynes to see what they actually did with their lives, to determine whether they deserved their names on the various buildings and statues of Gotham.
"He actually sounds like he deserved a statue," said Adrien, looking down at his phone at the Wikipedia article he had pulled up. "Not like Augustus Wayne, who never had a job and gambled away nearly a quarter of the Wayne fortune, yet still has a bridge and a fountain in this park named after him."
Marinette chimed in, "My favorite is Georgiana Wayne. Apparently, a reporter was harassing her over the fact that she was a divorcee and Theodore Wayne was her second husband, and she told that reporter to, quote, 'Fuck off, you lousy son of a bitch. If my husband doesn't mind that I am a divorcee, I don't see why you should.'"
"I wonder if she has any statues in the park," said Alya.
"I doubt it. Her Wikipedia article is only four paragraphs long."
Alya frowned. "That's a shame. Augustus Wayne does nothing of importance with his life and gets a whole bridge named after him, but Georgiana Wayne is a total badass in the 1920s and gets nothing."
"We'll have to bring it up with Bruce Wayne at the fundraising Gala," joked Marinette.
"Good idea." Alya glanced down at her phone. "It's almost time for the fireworks show to start. According to the class groupchat, everyone is gathering on the south shore of the duck pond. There are benches there, and it should have a good view."
"I'll meet you guys there," said Marinette. "I just want to get a few more pictures before it gets too dark."
Marinette started taking pictures of the fountains and flowerbeds, wandering aimlessly through the park. She was busy getting the best angle to take a picture of a maple tree framed by the sunset when she bumped into someone walking behind her.
"Oh, I'm so sorry-" Marinette began to apologize, but as soon as she recognized just who she bumped into she was at a loss for words. "Dick?"
"Marinette?" Dick's voice was deeper than Marinette remembered, yet still hauntingly familiar. His wide blue eyes stared into hers.
Marinette couldn't hold it together. She burst into tears, launching herself into his arms. "Dick, I thought I would never see you again. What are you doing here?"
"I heard your name on the news when they were reporting about Poison Ivy's vandalism at the Botanical Gardens. I did a little googling and found out about your class trip. It took a little digging into the Wayne Foundation website, but I found the approved itinerary for the trip and decided to track you down at East Hills Park. I knew I had to see you again."
"You did that for me?" Overhead the fireworks started going off, extravagant flashes of color that Marinette ignored completely. She couldn't tear her eyes off of Dick. When she imagined her reunion with him, she never really considered that he would be all grown up. No longer was Dick the twelve-year-old boy that Marinette remembered from her childhood. Dick was now five years older and sixteen inches taller.
"Of course I did. Marinette, I've missed you so much."
"I tried to get back in contact with you but Gotham's CPS refused to release any information to me. I kept calling and calling but they wouldn't tell me anything." The tears returned with a vengeance, and Marinette started to sob. "I gave up on finding you and I'm so sorry."
"I don't blame you. You have to know I don't blame you. It's me who should be apologizing. I could have tracked you down but I never did."
Marinette sniffled. "Why didn't you?"
"I was a coward." Marinette opened her mouth to protest but Dick cut her off. "I was scared of losing another person I loved. I shut everyone out and by the time I was ready to let people in again, I was afraid that you wouldn't want to be a part of my life again."
"What made you change your mind?" asked Marinette.
"No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't forget you. It was stupid of me to think that I ever could in the first place. You were my best friend Marinette. You still are, if you'll have me."
Dick looked at her with such longing that Marinette knew she could never deny him. Her face softened. "Of course I will."
"Thank you." Dick held onto Marinette tighter.
Marinette closed her eyes and melted into his embrace. The fireworks show continued, bathing the park in beautiful colors, but Marinette felt no need to watch it. She knew that she already had the most beautiful thing in the park in her arms.

What a family the Dupain-Chengs are! Aren’t they!? There’s jolly old Tom with his adorkable dad jokes and love of video games, the radiant and sweet natured Sabine, the sassy and adventurous Gina and the old fashioned, but improving Rolland. Let’s not forget our girl Marinette/Ladybug who may be awkward and clumsy a majority of the time, but still saves the day no matter what when she’s on superhero duty. What could go wrong with this wonderful family? Let’s find out:
*Dearest Family-It’s Three Kings Day! The time to celebrate w/ friends/families with gifts, music and a feast (and after looking it up online) like the Three 3 Wise Men who visited Baby Jesus and that’s what this holiday is about! The Dupain-Chengs are having a family reunion type to honor that and Tom and Rolland bake together a super delicious galette. Look how they happily worked together on this using both traditional/innovative baking skills. Shows how much they’ve changed since their strained relationship was fixed (“Bakerix”). It’s so appetizing that it triggers Tikkis craving for it.
This doesn’t suit well with the other Kwamis as they know whenever Tikki discovers a new treat, she goes batsh*t crazy!🦇💩🤪. Tikki passive-aggressively yells at them to shut up about it cuz she doesn’t want Marinette to think low of her for it and tries to manage Tikkis unstable urges for more galette. Things get more complicated when everyone in the Dupain-Cheng family argues over who knows Marinette best when Gina brings Marinette a motorcycle as a gift and everyone has differing view points on it. It’s a pretty cool bike and it does raise questions on if Marinette should keep it or not. Gina thinks it’s okay, Rolland says she’s too young, Tom thinks it’s too dangerous and Sabine tries to get everyone to hear Marinette out herself. Marinettes an awfully clumsy girl, and even if she had a helmet on, I don’t think it’s safe for her. What’s the legal driving age for teenagers in Paris? 16? \_( ಠ_ಠ)_/¯.
The argument causes all four of them to get akumatized and even though Rolland and Sabine were given anti-akumatizing charms, Shadow Moth created a Megaakuma to break through it! Don! Don! Don! What’s worse was Marinette transforming as Ladybug to keep Tikki from her cravings which effected her to have the same cravings and lose focus on the mission. I’m not gonna bother venting about the fam being akumatized in their signature akumatized forms with just a team name cuz it’s tiring for me and it’s obvious the writers aren’t gonna be original with this, so I’ll spare you the trouble. As for Tikkis craving effecting Ladybug, it is officially confirmed that Kwamis can transmit their personalities onto their holders! We’ve had that theory since around the beginning and it was hinted at in “Rocketear” when Plagg mentioned his “charisma” coming out through Cat Noir, but now it’s clear that’s the case! Same reason why Plagg calls Tikki “Sugar Cube” and Cat Noir to Ladybug with “M’lady”. It was funny how (frighteningly) hangry Ladybug was throughout the ep. eating every galette she found and again, Cat Noir had to do most of the work (“Psychomedian”) and holy sh*t! Tikki used a lucky charm by herself that almost destroyed the world! Don! Don! Don!
Bomb #21, Shadow Moth breaks through the anti-akumatizing charms and Tikki goes on a sugar high! Since Ladybug (unknown to her) gave SentiGabe an anti-akumatizing charm (“Gabriel Agreste”), he’s been trying since then to counter its power and much like how Alya told Ladybug to really focus on creating it (“Mr.Pigeon 72”), Nathalie tells Shadow Moth the same thing and thus the Megaakuma is born! Now he can go back and akumatize all the people who were given those charms! Even though Ladybug created new charms to give out, who’s to say Shadow Moth won’t try again!? Why bother!? For Tikki, we’ve always seen her as the mature, responsible and level-headed Kwami who supported, encouraged and gave Marinette advice when she needed it, but now we see she’s “not so above it all”. Her one Achilles heel is her uncontrollable craving for new sweets. Her sugar addiction reaches past 11 and almost ends up destroying the world before Shadow Moth could and she was too embarrassed to tell Marinette cuz she always thought so high and mighty of her, but Marinette assures her that everyone has flaws and we just need to learn to fight it and seek help which gets Tikki to ease her cravings. My how the tables have turned, now it’s Marinette who tries to help Tikki with her own problems! Cute! In the end, we find out what Gabe/Shadow Moth wants to do with the ladybug and black cat miraculous, to destroy the world and build a new one with him and Emilie! Now don’t go theorizing that he plans to be the next “Adam and Eve” with Emilie, he said Quote:”……I'll destroy this world that took you from us to build a new one, where we'll never be apart again…….”Unquote. That could be interpreted as using the black cat miraculous to destroy the current world now and using the ladybug miraculous to create a new one where maybe everything’s the same just now with Emilie in it! Cuz I don’t wanna think he’d let Adrien be one of the people, HIS OWN SON, to die along with the rest of the world, I’m hoping maybe it’ll be more like a “reset button” kinda thing or is that a hated outcome? Idk, I’m just scared he wants to kill Adrien😳.

The Price of A Wish
Villain Luka au done! It was fun to write and surprisingly no Lila salt in this lol Anyway hope you enjoy it :D
--------------------------------------------------------------
Tears rolled down Luka's cheeks as he just stared blankly at the wall. He was sat on a bed in the small room of the Orphanage that he and his sister had been moved to after his father's arrest five months ago. Not even a week later, his mother fell sick and ended up in a coma which she hadn't woken up from. Luckily, Juleka and him hadn't been split up and he had a plan in motion.  As soon as he turned eighteen, he would get custody of Juleka and they would change their names and leave Paris forever, However, she began to show signs of schizophrenia, claiming that this world wasn't real. She had been drugged up to her eyeballs and babbled about the "real" world. Luka had tried to calm her down and tried to tell her that she was sick but she insisted she wasn't. Over the last few months, she just got worst. She told him a bad cat had made a wish and how a bug needed to save the world but he didn't understand what she meant. However, that no longer mattered because Juleka was gone. A week ago, she had managed to escape and had gone missing. Luka had tried to find her but he couldn't. Every day he looked for her but never found her. Today had been no difference at first. However, he had seen a crowd gathered around the Eiffel tower. Curiosity got the better of him and he walked over. He regretted it. Lying on the floor and in a puddle of blood was Juleka. He screamed and broke through the crowd, rushing to her side. The police had grabbed him because he could reach her as he screamed her name. They took him aside and he told them who she was. That was six hours ago but as if that wasn't bad enough, he got even worse news. The hospital had declared Anarka dead and switched her off life support. In less then a week, he had gone from having a loving family to losing everyone. His mother and sister were dead and his father was locked away in a secure prison after been arrested for terrorism. Luka didn't understand it. Jagged wasn't a perfect man but he was definitely not a terrorist. He was a rockstar for crying out loud or at least that what he believed... but apparently, he was the man who was the supervillain Hawkmoth. Luka didn't want to admit it. He really didn't but the evidence was there and Jagged had admitted it himself. As a result, Luka lost everything. His friends turned their backs on him, saying they couldn't be friends with the son of a supervillain and his grandfather, the only living relative he had left, refused to adopt him for the same reason after his mother's death. It's how he ended up here with Juleka but part of him wondered that if Jagged been the supervillain was part of the reason why Juleka killed herself, though she insisted he wasn't. Either way, it didn't matter anymore. Nothing mattered anymore. It didn't matter that he was eighteen in a month's time or that he was alone. It didn't matter that his friends were gone and he had no family. Nothing mattered anymore and it would never matter again. Someone knocked on the door as he continued to stare. It opened and a woman walked in, frowning a little as she saw him. She didn't want him there but he had no where else to go. However, seeing him just staring with tear stains on his cheeks made her heart hurt a little. He didn't even acknowledge her as she walked over, holding a parcel.
"Luka..." She stated, hoping for some reaction. Nothing. He didn't even blink. He just stared at the wall. He hadn't eaten or moved from that spot since he got brought back by the police. "You have a parcel..."
Again, nothing so she sighed and put it on his bed before walking out and closing the door behind her. Luka slowly moved his head and looked over at it before picking it up. He tore off the paper and opened it, revealing two hexagon shaped boxes. Once again, curiosity got the better of him and he opened one of them, causing a purple ball of light to appear. He dropped the box as he stared at it before it formed a small butterfly like creature. He glanced down at the box and picked it up, seeing a butterfly shaped brooch inside. He looked up at the little creature and blinked.
"What are you?" He asked in an emotionless voice.
"My name is Nooroo," It replied quietly. "I'm the kwami of transmission and I grant the power to create superpowered heroes..."
"Heroes," Luka stated bitterly. "There are no heroes,"
Nooroo looked at him as he put the box on the side and went back to staring at the wall.
"M-Master?" He asked, causing Luka to glance at him. "A-Are you ok?"
Luka blinked in surprise. No one had asked him that. Not when his father got arrested, not when his mother fell ill or when his sister killed herself. No one cared about him but this little creature was asking. He sat up and cupped him in his hands.
"No... I'm not ok, Nooroo," He answered as his eyes filled with tears. "But thank you for asking me. You're the only person who has... and please don't call me Master. My name is Luka,"
"Luka..." Nooroo repeated before gasping. "As in Luka Couffaine?!"
"You... know me?" Luka asked, confused. Nooroo nodded. "How do you know me?"
"You were Silencer, Truth and Viperion," He answered, making Luka blink. Silencer, Truth and Viperion.... why didn't they sound so familiar? "My old master Hawkmoth made you into Silencer and Truth... which I'm sorry about,"
"My father made me into them?! What about Viperion?" He asked, wondering if this could get any worst. However, Nooroo looked confused. "Nooroo?"
"Viperion was your hero name... but Gabriel Agreste is your father?!" Nooroo gasped, surprising Luka as well as himself. He shouldn't have been able to say his name but he had been able to. Did that mean he was no longer under the Agreste family's control?
"No... my father is Jagged Stone. He was arrested for been hawkmoth and admitted to it," He explained, shocking Nooroo, who began to mumble. "But... Nooroo, are you saying Jagged wasn't Hawkmoth?"
"He wasn't Hawkmoth," Nooroo gasped. "Duusu can confirm that too,"
"Duusu?" Luka asked before grabbing the other box and opening it. A blue light burst free and moved around before a peacock like creature appeared. It stretched and looked at him.
"Hello, new master!" It chirped, making Luka blink. "I'm Duusu, the kwami of emotion!! I can grant the power to make senticreatures!!"
"Ok but I need to know something," He stated, making Duusu blink at him. "Who was Hawkmoth?"
"Oh, well that was Gabriel Agreste and his assistant, Nathalie, was my master. She became Mayura. Oh and Hawkmoth became Shadow Moth when he merged me and Nooroo!"
"... My father is innocent!" Luka gasped, standing up. "We can clear his name and I can live with him!"
"Luka," Nooroo stated, making Luka look at him. "We can't,"
  "Why not?"
"Because he admitted it," Nooroo explained, causing Luka to stare at him.
"But you can tell them he isn't!" He gasped before frowning as Nooroo and Duusu looked guilty. Like they knew something he didn't. "Nooroo? Duusu? What aren't you telling me?"
"Something doesn't feel right," Duusu whispered, looking around fearfully. "This world feels..."
"Wrong," Nooroo added in, making Luka frown before he fluttered over and lifted Luka's wrist. "You're not wearing your miraculous..."
  "My what?"
"The snake miraculous. It was entrusted to you by Ladybug," Nooroo replied, making Luka frown. What is a miraculous? And who is Ladybug? "You... don't know what I mean do you?"
"I don't..." Luka replied, frowning. "Who is Ladybug? What's a miraculous?"
Nooroo sighed and turned to Duusu, who was playing with their flippers.
"It must be the wish..." She gasped, worried. "But surely, Hawkmoth didn't win? I'm sure he was defeated,"
"Gabriel was... maybe someone else made a wish...." Nooroo gasped, looking down before shaking his head. "We need to restore his memories,"
"My memories?" Luka asked but before he could say something else, Nooroo and Duusu flew over to him and placed their hands on the side of his head. His eyes glazed over in purple as his mind began to flood with images. He reminded his time as Viperion, as Truth and as Silencer. He reminded his mother's akumatization and his sister's. He remembered Heroes day and seeing Hawkmoth on TV. And that was definitely not his father. His mind filled with all of the experiences he had forgotten. Kitty Sections, Been a hero, Miracle Queen, playing his violin in front of a crowd, making friends with Kagami and Marc and Marinette. He had forgotten Marinette. Tears filled his eyes as he remembered the love he held for her and how she loved him but then a new memory surfaced and it was the worst. Rage filled him as he saw Adrien Agreste overpower Ladybug and take her earrings, revealing Marinette. He broke free from the akuma and when to reset his timer but the akuma grabbed him as Adrien stated that he could fix the world now, his mother would be ok and his father would be free from been Hawkmoth. He had the nerve to smile as he said they could finally be a family again and that he and his lady would be together forever. Marinette begged him not to but Adrien ignored her, stating he would take away all of her burdens. They could finally be together like they were meant to be... but she was with Luka. She was his girlfriend and Adrien intended to steal her but worst then that, he intended to make a wish to bring his mother back and to free his father from been hawkmoth. Marinette begged him still, telling him a price would be paid but then Adrien said something that hurt everyone. He stated that he didn't care. Luka screamed as he watched Adrien combine the two miraculous and make his wish before a light engulfed him and everyone in the room. He gasped as Nooroo and Duusu pulled away, tears rolling down his cheek. "He... Adrien... He betrayed us..."
He let out a scream and just began to destroy almost everything in his path, trashing the room before he finally sunk down to his knees and sobbed. Nooroo and Duusu flew over, hugging him.
"H-His wish... it was for his mother, his father and for Marinette to forget wasn't it?" He asked, looking up at them as they nodded. "Is that why my mother is dead, my father in jail and my sister driven mad from memories of the real world?"
"I'm afraid so," Nooroo replied, looking down. "A price must be paid for the wish to come true... Adrien got his family back but you lost yours,"
Luka shook from the tears and anger before he stood up, making the two kwamis look at him.
"Can it be undone?" He asked in a cold voice. Nooroo slowly nodded. "How?"
"You would need the miraculous of the ladybug and the black cat. The kwamis could reverse the wish and restore the world to just before it was made," He explained, making Luka nod. "But we don't know where it is. They're properly with the guardian who may or may not be in Paris. That's why Hawkmoth created supervillains. He wanted to force them out,"
"Then we'll do the same," Luka declared, making Nooroo and Duusu gasp before he looked at them. "But I won't force you... I'm not Hawkmoth,"
Duusu looked at Nooroo, who bit his lip. Part of him didn't want to be used by a villain again but they could also fix the world back to how it was. It wasn't fair that Luka lost everything so Adrien could regain what he had lost. That was cruel and not a solution. It was just passing on his pain to someone else.
"We will help you..." Nooroo declared, making Luka nod and whisper thank you. "But what about Adrien?"
"Well... it will take awhile to get the miraculous right?" Luka asked, smirking as they nodded. "Then I'll use that time to torment him. This is his fault after all,"
He picked up the pins and put them on.
  "Now... how do I transform?"
  Six Month Later
"Don't be bemused, it's just the news," Nadja Chamack stated as she smiled at the camera. She was stood outside of a parade celebrating one year of been free from Hawkmoth. "It's been exactly one year since Jagged Stone was arrested and found guilty of been Hawkmoth and since our heroes retired. Earlier in the week, a fluke happened where Miss Bourgeois once again somehow ended up Akumatized but this seems to be a one time thing. Experts have theorized that it might have been a stray akuma that Hawkmoth left behind but luckily new heroes Harlequin and Kuro Neko turned up and saved the day. However, one does wonder what happened to the original Ladybug and Chat Noir-"
A huge roar suddenly echoed, cutting her off before a beast of a creature landed on the balloon of Ladybug, making Nadja and the film crew look over. It resembled a giant snake that seemed to be themed around the snake hero.
"Um is this part of the parade?" She asked as the figure jumped down from it and stood up straight. He didn't look like part of the show either. He was tall and had a blue hooded cape that faded into peacock green. It also resembled a peacock's tail. Under his hood, Nadja could make out blue and purple hair. His skin was a cold shade of blue and he wore a purple and black butterfly mask. His shirt was a dark purple and his waistcoat was a lighter purple that resembled butterfly wings. His pants were a midnight blue and his boots were black combat boots. His eyes were the worst though. They were pink with lilac  sclera but they were completely void like he had no soul. In his hand was a cane and attached to his hip was a feathered fan. He spun his cane down as his cape flapped in the wind.
"People of Paris!! Listen carefully!! Queen Wasp wasn't a fluke or a stray akuma from Hawkmoth! She was merely a test run for me!" He shouted, causing everyone to film him. "I am Aglais, Hawkmoth's successor!! Harlequin, Kuro Neko! Give me your miraculous and bring me Adrien Agreste! Do this and I'll ensure the safety of Paris! You have five minutes to give into my demands or I'll make Paris wish they only had to deal with Hawkmoth again,"
"Nadja Chamack here and first on the scene! A new supervillain calling himself has just turned up, threatening Paris if the miraculous of the ladybug and black cat aren't delivered to him, along with teenage heartthrob Adrien Agreste!" She gasped as Aglais stroked the snake's neck. He knew five minutes wasn't enough time and he knew that the heroes wouldn't give in to his demands but that was the point. He smirked as the two heroes landed on the building opposite as the cameras filmed.
"No Agreste I see!" He shouted back as the two heroes jumped over to him. "Pity. I didn't want to terrorize anyone,"
"Surrender your miraculous and you won't have to," Harlequin stated, holding out his hand. "You don't have to do this,"
"Cute," He chuckled, smirking. "But I do. Agreste needs to pay for his misdeeds. Basilisk, you know what to do,"
The snake hissed and jumped over the heroes, making them look at it as it fell to the ground. Kuro Neko rolled her eyes as they turned to the villain.
"Your pet just killed itself," She stated, making Aglais smile a little. "You lost your advantage,"
"Did I?" He asked, tilting his head to the side as they heard a cracking noise. "Unlike my predecessor, I have a much more creativity mind. Did you know senticreatures can grow and evolve?"
"Senticreatures?" Kuro Neko asked before her eyes flicked down to his brooches. She gasped and turned back to Basilisk who had been growing and reforming. "He has the peacock miraculous!"
People began to scream as Basilisk tripled in size, roaring out.
  "A sentimonster!" Harlequin gasped.
"No, it's a senticreature," Aglais corrected, making them growl. "And the nightmare is just beginning!! Hydra! Attack!!"
Hydra growled and began to fire beams at people, freezing them in place and causing more people to panic and scream as Aglais laughed like a maniac. The two heroes jumped down and started to fight it. They managed to cut off it's head but to their horror, two more grew back, allowing it to attack them and freeze more people.
"Another interesting fact! I can create more than one senticreature. Monarch!!! Come to me!!" He declared as a large butterfly flew over. He jumped up and landed on it. "You see... while I planned all of this, I made sure to learn all that I could about my miraculous. Something Hawkmoth didn't do. And as a result, I learnt how to do things he couldn't! Such as creating a swarm of akumas!!"
"What?!" Harlequin gasped as Aglais lifted his cane, causing a humming sound to echo before a swarm of akumas descended on them and the crowd. They entered items of the frozen victims and panicked people, turning them into villains.
"Capture the heroes!" He ordered, causing the villains and Hydra rushed at them. Aglais smirked as the heroes to fight them. With them distracted, he directed his butterfly over to one of the tv stations helicopters. He stepped inside and smirking as the passagers shook in fear. "Now for the one person who can get me what I want! Come here!!!"
He roughly grabbed the camera man as he filmed and smirked at it.
"Agreste!! Calling Adrien Agreste!!!" He laughed, holding him. "I know you're watching, Adrien so I have a deal for you! Meet me where it all began and I'll spare Paris!! You have six hours to do this and if you don't.... well, I think you can imagine what I'm gonna do to Paris if you refuse my demands. Oh and bring Marinette with you!! She deserves to know what kind of monster she is with! See you soon, Kitty Cat!!!"
He shoved the camera man back against the seat and jumped back on his butterfly before it flew off with him looking down at the battle. Harlequin and Kuro Neko were doing well but he couldn't let them win. He opened the connection with a sentimonster as he stared at them.
"Rosier, time to grow," He ordered, causing a number of vines to suddenly burst through the roads, wrapping around anyone that wasn't akumatized. A number of large flowers appeared and began to shake, creating a pink smog to appear. Those who weren't akumatized or captured began to fall down asleep, including the heroes. More vines and flowers burst through, wrapping around the heroes and dragging them inside two large roses. The petals wrapped around them and pulled them underground as Aglais smirked. "Capture Adrien's friends as well. I want him to know what he did,"
Rosier grew more large roses before capturing the rest of Miss Bustier's class, dragging them underground as well. With the parade in chaos, supervillains running around and the heroes captured, Aglais laughed and opened a connection to every villain he had created.
"Descend on Agreste manor!" He declared, pointing his cane in his direction. The arm of villains headed towards there with Hydra following as Aglais placed his cane onto his back and moved so he was sat on the butterfly, flying it towards the manor. It was where it all began after all.
  ~Adrien's POV~
"Are you sure about this Adrien?" Marinette asked as he walked into the manor. He turned to her and gave her a soft smile. "We shouldn't give in to a villain's demands,"
"It will be ok, mi'lady," He stated, taking her hand in his. "I promise. Remember me and you against the world,"
"Of course," She smiled, having no idea what that once meant to her. Now it was just part of her relationship with Adrien. She linked their fingers and followed him inside. The two of them walked through the empty manor. Adrien couldn't help but worry for his father and mother as they had lived there, meaning that they were in direct danger. He let go of Marinette's hand and rushed to his father's office, pushing open the doors. He was hoping to that his father was in there, designing with his mother but he wasn't. Marinette caught up to him before placing her hand on his shoulder as he began to release the seriousness of the situation. He glanced over to his mother's portrait and gasped as he saw a massive hole in where Hawkmoth's secret lift was. He walked over to it, followed by Marinette and saw a staircase made from vines going down into darkness. Taking a deep breathe, the two of them walked down into the butterfly garden. Marinette gasped as she looked around. It made sense that this garden belonged to Hawkmoth but why was it underneath Agreste Manor? That made no sense. "Adrien, where are we?"
"Father's butterfly garden," He replied, looking around. He had hope that he would never find himself here again. It was a place that he never wanted to see again but it was almost exactly the same as the last time he saw it. Only this time instead of one casket in the middle, there was two and there were huge roses and vines everywhere. Adrien frowned and subconsciously stroked his ring, wishing he had kept his miraculous now. A hissing noise made him and Marinette gasp as Hydra came out from the shadows before Monarch fluttered down towards the caskets. Marinette instantly grabbed onto his arm as a number of akumatized villains walked out of the shadows before a black rose burst from the ground and opened up, revealing Aglais sat on it like a throne. "I'm here so let my family go,"
"All in good time, Adrien," Aglais replied, standing up. Vines moved over and turned into stairs as he walked down them. "But first... let's catch up,"
"Catch up?" Adrien asked, confused. He didn't know this villain. "Why would I want to catch up with you? I don't even know you,"
"Oh but you do," Aglais replied, walking over to them. "You and I go way back, Adrien. In fact, we use to be on the same side... until you decided to betray everyone,"
"I.. I don't know what you're talking about," He answered, failing to notice the vine slipping around his ankle and getting closer to his wrists. "And I don't know you! I don't get what you want with me. I haven't done anything to you!"
"You haven't done anything to me?" Aglais repeated, making Adrien look at him in slightly annoyance before Aglais began to laugh. "Adrien, Adrien... if only that was true..."
"What?" Adrien gasped, not expecting that answer. "I'm not lying! I didn't do anything-"
"You are the reason why my family are gone!" Aglais suddenly roared, causing the vines to suddenly wrap around Adrien like a snake. Marinette gasped and stepped back in fear as they tightened around him, cutting into him and causing him to gasp in pain. "Painful, isn't it Adrien? Well, that is nothing compared to the pain you have caused me,"
A vine moved down to Aglais, causing him to stroke it.
"Do you know what it's like to lose the people you love?" He asked, glancing over to him before Adrien cried out in pain. Physically, he wasn't injured but it felt like someone had reached into his chest and tore out his heart before crushing it. "It felt like that, Adrien and it was all because of you!"
  "How did I-"
"You took everything from me when you made that damn wish!" Aglais screamed, shocking Adrien. No one should have known about that wish apart from him. "That's right, Kitty Cat. I remember the world before this one,"
  "H-How?"
"Nooroo and Duusu restored my memories," He replied, walking over to him. "But... I am nothing but a fair man so I will give you a chance to prove to me that you don't deserve to be punished. I will ask you two questions and you answer them..."
"Fine. I'll answer your questions but you have to answer mine too," Adrien replied, making Aglais smile coldly.
"I forgot how much the little kitty likes to play with his games," He teased. "But very well, I'll play your game. We both get two questions. If you answer mine correctly and I'll let your family go,"
"You will?" Adrien asked, hoping to distract him until Ladybug and Chat Noir got there. It was one of the things about this new world that he was beginning to regret. When he shaped it, he gave the miraculous to someone else. He thought they would never appear again because there was no hawkmoth in this world. Well, Hawkmoth had existed but he had made sure his father didn't get arrested for it. Aglais chuckled and pressed his cane against Adrien's neck. The expression on his face was unreadable as Adrien nervously looked around.
"How cute.... You think Harlequin and Kuro Neko will save you?" He asked, smirking. "They won't. I already captured them,"
Two giant roses burst from the ground and unwrapped showing the two heroes asleep inside. Adrien frowned to himself. That wasn't suppose to happen.
"They weren't the same as the originals," Aglais sighed. "First question...
"Wait what do I get if you answer my questions correctly,"
"My real identity," He grinned, making Adrien frown. "So did you know about the price when you made the wish?"
"I... I didn't..." Adrien lied, causing Aglais to narrow his eyes. He wouldn't know he was lying... right? "I swear I had no idea,"
"Liar," He snarled, clicking his fingers. The vines tightened, cutting into his skin and causing him to scream and gasp for more air. Marinette gasped in fear as she watched but made no move to help him. Adrien, however, just assumed she was scared. "Really, Adrien. I knew you were dumb but you should know better then to lie to an empath,"
"E-Empath?!" He gasped, making him chuckle. "You're an empath?"
"A natural gift but it's amplified by my miraculous," Aglais replied, flicking the butterfly lightly. "Now for question number two and don't lie this time..."
"Wait but I didn't ask my first question!"
"Actually you just did," Aglais replied, smirking. "Now for my second question... did you think of anyone but yourself when you decide to make the wish?"
"I t-thought about my family and mi'lady," He replied, making Aglais narrow his eyes again. "I'm telling the truth!"
"I know," He replied before hitting him with his cane. Adrien coughed up blood from the hit. "You are a selfish bastard, Agreste. You only thought of yourself and your family. You didn't think about what Ladybug wanted or what price would be paid. You didn't care that she didn't love you or want to be with you. You had to erase her memory just to make her love you but that's not even the worst thing you did. No, the worst part is you took everything from me! The girl I love, my mother, my father and my sister! All of my friends turned against me. My own grandfather wants nothing to do with me and it's all because of you! All of my pain can be traced back to you!!"
He stopped shouting and smoothed down his waistcoat.
"Looks like I win the game," He muttered, making Adrien gasp. "Now for your punishment,"
"Wait!!" Adrien gasped, making him look at him. "I still have a question! How did my wish affect you?!"
"You really want to know?" Aglais asked, glaring at him. Adrien nodded. He knew about the price but he thought it would affect some random person on the other side of the world. Not someone in Paris. Part of him began to wonder if he knew who Aglais really was. The only person he could think could be him was Luka since his sister had killed herself recently but it couldn't be because of him and his wish. "Fine. I'll tell you. You wished for your mother to wake up so someone's mother had to go in a coma instead! And guess who's mother it was?! Mine! Of course then you wished for your father to be free from been Hawkmoth?! So my father took his place! He's in a secure prison for a crime he never did! And the last part of your wish? The part where you wished for your lady to forget everything but you so she would only love you! Well, someone else had to remember and that someone was my sister! It drove her mad, Adrien. It drove so mad that she threw herself of the Eiffel tower!! Because she couldn't deal with the burden of knowing that this world wasn't natural!"
Adrien was speechless. He had no idea that his wish would cause this but Aglais wasn't done.
"I remember how Ladybug begged you not to do it but you did anyway. You betrayed her and you betrayed me!" He snarled, making Adrien look at him. "I really believed you were my friend and instead you steal my girl, my life and my family! You are responsible for the pain I have suffered in this world and all because you decided to make a wish at the expense of others. You must be so proud of yourself, Adrien,"
"I did it for my family!" He screamed suddenly, causing Marinette to gasp in shock. "I did it for her and if you were in my position, you would do the same thing! That's exactly what you're gonna do!"
"Oh, no, Adrien. I'm going to make a wish," Aglais replied, smirking. "I am going to undo it but first... I just want you to know that your little life isn't perfect,"
He held out his hand, causing Marinette to walk over to him. She took his hand and he smiled at her.
"She... you..." Adrien gasped in surprise. "She has been working with you?!"
"No, Adrien..." He replied as another rose burst through the ground and opened, revealing the real Marinette asleep inside. She looked so peaceful as she slept. "I got to her months ago, Adrien and replaced her with Nettie here. She was the first senticreature I created when I got my miraculous,"
Nettie looked over at him with an emotionless expression.
"And you didn't even notice," He stated, making Adrien blink. "So much for loving your lady hm?"
  "You bastard!"
"Yes but only because you made me this way," He replied, turning on his heel and walking over. "Now it's time to undo all of this... I hope you enjoyed what little freedom you had, Adrien, because it is over now,"
He plucked the ring and earrings from Harlequin and Kuro Neko, turning them back into Kagami and Marc before he walked into the centre and put on their miraculous, causing Tikki and Plagg to manifest. Adrien flinched as Plagg glared at him with hatred before turning to Aglais.
"The wish comes-" Tikki started but he shook his head.
"No, I don't want to make a wish," He stated, making her blink. "I want to undo it. I have gathered everyone who was there when it made and we're in the same place where it originally happened.... so please... undo it..."
"If that's what you want," Plagg replied before the two of them spun around together and merged, becoming one kwami. It had three eyes and was black and white in coloring.
"I am Null," It stated. "Tell me your wish,"
"I don't wish for anything," He stated, causing Null to stare at him. "Instead, I ask you to undo Adrien's wish..."
  "Is that what you want?"
  "Yes," Aglais answered, nodding.
"Very well," Null replied before glowing. Adrien screamed as the light consumed him and fell forward as he dropped the two miraculous. Marinette was reaching out to him, along with the other miraculous holders but they were completely still, like time wasn't moving. Aglais was gone and Viperion stood in his place, looking angry. All of them looked black and white before Null finally appeared in front of him. "Your wish has been undone,"
"No! Please!" He gasped but Null disappeared and everyone began to move again. He looked up at Marinette as she moved over to him. He went to say something but to his surprise, she punched him and grabbed the miraculous from him as Viperion freed himself from the akuma and grabbed his arms, restraining him. "No! Let me go!"
"How dare you betray me like that?!" She screamed, tears in her eyes. "How dare you?!"
"I was just trying to save my family!" He screamed back but his mind flashed back to the previous world. "I didn't know it would cause so much pain! I'm sorry!"
  Marinette narrowed her eyes.
"Sorry isn't good enough," She declared, ripping the butterfly miraculous of him as well. "As guardian of the miraculous, I hereby revoke the miraculous of the black cat and the butterfly from you,"
"No! Please, mi'lady!" He cried, begging her. "I did it for us!"
"There is no us!" She screamed, making him blink in surprise. "There never was! I never loved you and I never will! I'm with Luka! Not you!!"
"B-But we're-" She punched him, knocking him out before he could say anything more. When he woke up, he found himself in a small cell. However, small rose vines appeared in the walls, making him gasp before a butterfly appeared in his cuffs.
"Hello, Adrien..." Aglais' voice muttered, making his blood run cold before nothing but pain raided his body. His nightmare wasn't over yet. In fact, it never would be. Not for him.
