Seth Kearley the director and producer of the scrapped 2003 Kingdom Hearts animated show from Disney Television Animation for Disney Channel recently uploaded its full pilot animatic.
Sora and Riku are SO much closer as friends in this 10 minute pilot than they were in the entirety of KH1! The way they tease one another is so natural.
Not to mention the HUG we’ve all been waiting for 😭😭
THEY’RE SO HAPPY LOOK AT THEM
Riku cheating will never not be funny. He was definitely the one who set up those faulty boards on the play island.
I want to go back in time and have this cartoon for this and this alone

Scrapped 2003 Kingdom Hearts Animated Series Pilot Animatic by Seth Kearsley
I don't own this. I claim no rights to any part of this except that this is my work. I'm not profiting from it. I want to show my work. It's been 20 years. This is not without it's flaws, which I have not doubt will be pointed out, but I was really proud of the story we were able to tell in the time we had. Setting up the entire premise of a series, and doing a 'typical episode' is a tall order. I feel like we pulled that off, and when they tested it with kids, it tested better than anything else they were testing in that round.
Something that might be useful for Disney and Seth Kearsley and they might work their differences and make it a real thing after 21 years (since 9/22/2003, 2020, and 10/22/2022) so it might be good to see that back in action after those different years along with the Gummi ship that Disney and Seth Kearsley might use for the TV show of it maybe after all of the chaos between the two blows over @kh-multi-ani-pro @kh13
Over the past two weeks animator Seth Kearsley posted many insight on the rejected Kingdom Hearts Pilot for Disney Channel.
How it came to be after Directing Eight Crazy Nights, how he wanted to rewritte the pilot beacuse it felt like an episode of Aladdin The Series with KH characters shoehorned in and why he wanted to make the pilot a Kingdom Hearts episode that takes place on Aladdin’s world.
And why despite positive feedback from test audiences, Disney Channel Excs from the 2000s shelved it!
now that everything's blocked in, I'm planning to pick just one shot to focus on. potentially as a test to see how feasible it'll be to do more, or else as the only shot that gets fully animated. we shall see...
My take on redrawing the lovely Destiny trio photo storyboard frame from the Kingdom Hearts pilot episode, which was kindly found and uploaded by Seth Kearsley 🤧
