PDFs of Foreign Language Journey to the West Translations

I’m happy to host a number of foreign language translations of the noted Chinese classic Journey to the West (Xiyouji, 西遊記, 1592 CE). This archive currently houses the following editions:

English

French

German

Hungarian

Italian

Romanian

Russian

Spanish

Thai

Vietnamese

As of this writing, I don’t yet have a modern Japanese translation. But you can read an original copy of the 1835 translation here.

I have also included translations of the unofficial sequel, A Supplement to the Journey to the West (Xiyoubu, 西遊補, 1640), in the following languages:

Hungarian

I will add more languages as they become available. Please let me know if you have access to other editions.

Working on a little crossover/au character design project with Rain World and Starbound :] I was going to wait to post these until I did the rest but there's literally like 10 of them and I am not that patient lol.

Sizes of the JTTW Pilgrims

Someone posted the following picture to a Monkey King-related Facebook group that I belong to. The bottom part reads:

"The original novel describes Bajie's body as being one zhang tall. Three Chinese feet is 1 meter. One zhang is around 3.3 meters. Sha Monk is 1.2 zhang, which is close to 4 meters. The Tang monk is 1.8 meters. The Great Sage Lord is 4 Chinese feet, or approximately 1.3 meters."

Tibetan Sand Mandalas

I can remember first seeing the Tibetan sand mandalas decades ago. The mandalas were very colorful geometric designs, like sacred geometry drawn out in different colored sand. I drew Monk first and now they look very simple compared to Hunter lol

I guess I had more trouble putting something interesting together for them because they don't have any abilities or a super unique campaign. I still really like their design though!

Hunter without their outfit under the cut because I drew a bunch of details that got lost under their armour and cape

I think the rot mushrooms look very cool, personally :)

At first I wasn't going to give them a cape that was so directly based on red lizards but then I was like 'who cares it's MY crossover and I get to make the rules' so now I guess there are rain world lizards in this version of starbound
