To sum it up. Literally nothing will keep Anakin from Obi-Wan.

Hello! I was wondering which star wars books do you think portray Anakin and Obi-Wan the best? The most in-character, authentic characteristics and the relationship they have with each other? :)
Sadly, we don’t have ONE book that perfectly encapsulates all the aspects of Anakin and Obi-wan’s relationship. Because their relationship was so long it changed as they grew, going from ‘pathetic life-form’ to devastating betrayal. so instead of mentioning one book, I’ll offer several :P
Let’s start with the TPM->AOTC years. This is the period were Anakin and Obi-wan are master/padawan. The most overlooked aspect of their relationship during those years is that they were not friends. they cared for each other but they weren’t the two guys we saw in TCW/ROTS. Even if I don’t agree with everything she writes, I do believe Jude Watson masterfully explored how complicated the relationship was (especially in the first few years).
Both Anakin and Obi-wan are portrayed as traumatized by past events but at the same time willing to work towards a future. There are no quick and easy fixes but the author shows that despite everything these two boys loved each other. even when they didn’t know how to demonstrate it to each other.
Jedi Quest: Path to Truth by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The Way of the Apprentice by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The Trail of the Jedi by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The Dangerous Games by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The Master of Disguise by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The School of Fear by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The Shadow Trap by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The Moment of Truth by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The Changing of the Guard by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The False Peace by Jude Watson
Jedi Quest: The Final Showdown by Jude Watson
Another book that’s often overlooked is Greg Bear’s Rogue Planet. The book is set not long after the events of TPM. It’s Anakin and Obi-wan first mission together. The author explores Anakin’s childhood trauma as well as he explores Obi-wan’s grief over Qui-Gon’s death. One of my favorite things about this book is that it’s one of the view SW novels that reminds the audience how young and unprepared Obi-wan was for the task of raising a child of prophecy so soon after losing his mentor (and without any real help from his superiors).
Rogue Planet by Greg Bear
Moving on to the post-AOTC years. This is one is easy: Karen Miller. She excels at writing Anakin, Obi-wan and their complicated relationship. She explores their friendship: how it started and how it will inevitably end. I’m biased but imo she’s the most underrated star wars writer I can think of. While most author makes their relationship about the big events, Miller understands that the big events are the culmination of a lifetime of issues. And that what she explores: how loyal they were to each other but also how much they kept from each other. she shows the sacrifices, the selfishness, the talks they had and the secrets they kept. In a way, she gives us the mundane stuff. the little moments that are so, so important but aren’t flashy enough to be put to film. Idk if I’m making much sense lol all I’m trying to say is that she has a way of making them sound like to real adults, instead of just two characters.
The Clone Wars: Wild Space by Karen Miller
Clone Wars Gambit: Stealth by Karen Miller
Clone Wars Gambit: Siege by Karen Miller
If you love ROTS, this one is a must-read. I’m just saying you won’t find anything too different from what we see in the movies. the author won’t go into their childhood and how the relationship transformed since their were first introduced. This book is about the end of the road. It’s a friendship falling about. It’s not an easy read but it’s definitely worth reading.
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith novel by Matthew Stover
Please…please, if you get the chance, read Jude Watson’s The Last One Standing. It’s a short story set after ROTS about Obi-wan’s grief over Anakin’s death. It’s heartbreaking. But it’s also a beautiful look into Obi-wan’s mind and how he viewed his relationship with Anakin and the mistakes he made.
The Last One Standing by Jude Watson

Just another (probably shitty) theory about the plot in Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker
So I’ve been thinking... like everybody else after the first footage and stills that were thrown at us during Celebration last week, and I have a theory about a few things.
Even though I read and watch a lot of content on Tumblr and Youtube, I haven’t seen these things addressed that way yet. Please correct me if I’m wrong, of course.
What if, during the First Act of TROS, Kylo Ren and his Knights are on a quest for an artefact (maybe after meeting the already infamous Oracle, who would put them on the trail) and our Band of Rebels are on the exact same kind of quest (other artefacts, maybe in the wreckage of the Death Star already this early on in the story)?
That might be when Kylo is leading an attack in the forest against Clan men (the Clan would be guarding the artefact - notice how the use of the word Clan feels kinda weird in SW - could refer to something spiritual or a specific folklore). During this battle, Kylo would murder the Clan Leader Rey saw in her vision back in TFA and, right then, Force Bond (for the first time since Crait) or he would at least feel her presence, in a direct callback from the vision in TFA.
During the Second Act, both factions realize they have to work together to face a much Greater Evil (Palpy, or something he left behind) and have to reunite the artefacts they already have collected separately. This would be where we see them on the desert planet (Jakku would be my first pick). We have the picture where the Rebel gang is apparently looking at Kylo Ren not too kindly (red lightsaber reflected in C3PO’s helmet - you know the one I’m talking about) and my guess is they reluctantly come to an understanding, and split up to put their plan into action: Rey goes with Kylo to train for the crazy TIE Silencer stunt and Finn and Poe are chased by stormtroopers.
I have no idea when the shot of Byronic KyloTM fits into this sequence, but it looks awesome anyway.
Third Act: they all try to stop the Great Evil to happen, Kylo dies saving everyone and thus redeeming himself, before Rey brings him back to life thanks to Heroine’s JourneyTM and her newly gained Mastery over Life and Death.
Happy Ending, Reylo babies, etc...
Remember the little items the Episode IX crew were offered by JJ and the production a few months ago? Remember those little jars with sand and black beans ominously labelled “Jedi Eaters”? I bet those little suckers are a huge part of the Greater Evil plotline in TROS.
Oh well, I’ll end there, just my two cents about what might happen in Episode IX. It sure has Raiders of the Lost Ark vibes to it with some major MacGuffin galore!
See you around, kids!

Hi, reading your posts explaining part of sw universe (your post really make me think in some aspects of sw that I have never thought) fragments of books and comics make me want to read it, do you have or know some post to indicate how I should start in the prequels stories and what books are the most interesting according you? I have tried to understand how to start, but its a bit confused due to the big numbers of books/comics (specially due to the legend and new canon). Thanks you very much!
Hi! I’ve a book rec tag where I suggest PT books, if you’re interested. As for where to start, my usual advice is start with what you love: your favorite movies and characters. Forget the idea that there’s a right place to start or that you have to read everything to enjoy the EU. You already know the story, the EU is about exploring the details so it does’t really matter where you start because you already know exactly how it goes. The EU does not have to be a chronological experience.
Let me tell you how I started: wookieepedia. A knew a little about the EU but the wookieepedia got me deep into it. I used to read Anakin’s page all time and it was filled with little bits of information but I needed more. It wasn’t enough to know *something* happened to Anakin, I wanted to experience it for myself. That’s when I started checking the sources at the bottom of the articles. It wasn’t enough to know Shmi and Anakin belonged to Gardulla before Watto, I wanted to know *how* they lived. So I checked the source and read the book. My first two SW books were Stover’s Revenge of the Sith Novelization and James Luceno’s Labyrinth of evil because they focus on events related to my favorite SW movie (ROTS) and they heavily featured my favorite character (Anakin).
I didn’t read them because I wanted to know the EU or be THAT kind of fan. I was just curious so I started with what I was most curious about. Real talk, when I first heard about the EU and thought about exploring I was thought that the only quality content was Timothy Zahn’s OT books. It’s been 20 years and I still haven’t finished a single one of his books. It’s not because they are bad, I’m simply not interested in that part of the story so I don’t go there. Don’t fall into the trap of believing you NEED to know everything. That’s gatekeeping and it’s been used to keep away from the EU for years. So my advice is always read what you want to, if you want to.
Here are my favorite PT novels (in chronological* order):
From TPM to AOTC
Darth Plagueis by James Luceno
The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi by Ryder Windham

What is your favourite SW book? What books would you recommend if I want to read more about Anakin? I only read The Labyrinth of Evil and ROTS novelisation. I have a song for the playlist: ‘Dante’s Prayer’ by Loreena McKennitt which always reminds me of Anakin and Padme.
My favoritebooks are the two Clone Wars: Gambit (Stealth and Siege) by Karen Miller. I’veread those books so many times I’ve lost count. Labyrinth of Evil and the ROTSnovelization were the first SW books bought so they will always have a specialplace in my heart (and they are awesome).
