Episode 104: 5.22 Swan Song

Welcome to the end of Kripke Era (sort of... he steps back, but is involved enough with s6 to have written 6.22... and he sticks around to help shape s7 before running off to Revolution and taking two free Led Zeppelin tracks with him... thanks for nothing, pal... >.>)

(aside to note i got my annual reminder that kripke is like two and a half weeks older than me while paying more attention than usual to write notes for this-- he gave the impala his own birthday, plus 7 years-- and i always feel like i’ve been mugged when i remember all of these facts)

So this is a fandom favorite, often cited at the top of Best Episode lists and I... don’t really like it much. Sorry! lol I am not sorry. It’s 15.20 turned inside out, with at least the veneer of a hopeful ending because *everyone was alive at the end of the episode so they could continue to live to fight another day.* Which is like one microstep above what 15.20 left us with >.>

I started sleeping until like 11:30am, which means I'm getting enough sleep, which is objectively better than when I was getting four hours a night and my brain was melting and I was getting sick.

But say what you will about doing things that are "healthy for my body," I definitely had more time to watch and blog about Supernatural.

Currently watching the finale on 1.5 speed if I even hope to finish it. I think it's better this way. It's uh, really really bad. But I miss having the time, ya know.

Looking at the graveyard scene in Swan Song again, it’s striking how different Sam and Lucifer’s mannerisms are, except for when they’re faced with the rejection or rebukes of their older brothers. (4.4 and 5.22)

#lucys ramblings #lucys writing #basic premise is that God!Jack tries to bring cas back from the dead but due to not fully grasping his own omnipotence he accidentally #grabs cas from between being vaporised in 5.22 and being put back to watch dean rake leaves as this is where cas was closest to where #jack is at the junction of time/space/life/death #Cas doesn’t get why he’d be put back as he believes himself an abberation of an angel who would burn everything for one man #jack proceeds to try and convince him by christmas carol/vincent and the doctor-ing cas thru their lives #because he can’t stand the thought of forcing his dad back scared #spn #when i say first draft i mean like i am currently throwing words at this exact word document like this needs to be read with HUGE #this hasn’t been looked at twice energy

Now there was a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years. She had endured much under many physicians and had spent all that she had, and she was no better but rather grew worse. She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, for she said, “If I but touch his cloak, I will be made well.” Immediately her flow of blood stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my cloak?” And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, ‘Who touched me?’” He looked all around to see who had done it. Both these sections take place during and right after the events of Swan Song (5.22)

The previous four times Dean was injured that Cas is thinking of are from 4.01, 4.16, 5.01, and 5.18.

The bible story both Dean and Cas are thinking of is Mark 5:25–34.

Yes, the part where Dean is thinking Cas would never tell him to worship and kneel is foreshadowing to the end of season 6.

The memory Dean is thinking of in Bobby's kitchen is from chapter 6 of this fic.

When Dean is to Bobby's with Cas in the car at the end of Swan Song, the windshield is still cracked. But it's fixed by the time he leaves Bobbys so I'm presuming Bobby helped replace it for him.

The memory Bobby is referring to is from chapter 5.

The memory of Bobby disabling the car is from 3.16.

The way Bobby talks about Dean treating Lisa right is in reference to Bobby's own father who took out his anger and issues on Bobby's mom (7.10). I don't think Bobby actually thinks Dean would hurt Lisa but I do think that kind of thing is always on his mind.

Unfortunately for me, they changed the set for Lisa's house from season 5 to season 6 so please forgive any inaccuracies relating to either house.

The issue of why (and who) removed the hand print will be dealt with later on. Unfortunately, this is one of the more evil things I've ever done.

It must have enraged Lucifer that Sam has a brother who shows up for him. Just a few moments before Dean arrived, Lucifer tried to talk Michael down and say they didn’t have to fight. They could just be brothers. Michael said no. Lucifer’s betrayals were too great.

Like we focus on Dean and the impala catching Sam’s attention inside, but I do have to wonder if Lucifer also lost focus and accidentally gave Sam an opportunity to come to the surface, because it filled him with jealous rage that Dean showed up for his brother in spite of everything.
