I keep on seeing people mention how they want to see another Davy Back Fight during the Final Saga, and while I'm 10000% sure we won't see another Davy Back Fight

I think a Davy Back Fight between the Strawhats and Cross Guild could be fucking hysterical
Especially because like. Buggy could totally challenge Luffy intentionally, desperately hoping that either Luffy will save HIM from Crocodile and Mihawk, OR that Luffy ends up taking Croc and Hawk into his crew if he wins
(Sidenote, DBF is normally only about exchanging crewmates and stealing pirate flags, but could you imagine if Buggy could demand to have Luffy's copies of the Road Poneglyphs if he won? Hell, I imagine Buggy could probably get away with innitiating the challenge regardless because once it's on, it's on, and surely his men would be so riled up Croc and Hawk would know there'd be no way to stop it anymore even though Buggy's not the true boss. But just to keep Croc and Hawk from trying to murder him on the spot Buggy could maybe suggest taking the Poneglyph copies as if it were a part of his plan from the begining)
And you know if Buggy challenged Luffy into a DBF Luffy might just accept??? Because it could be fun (in Luffy's mind)??? And it could be kind of on-brand for him to jump in on a challenge like that???

i'm sure it's been said but i feel like both Raxtus and Ronodin can be argued as "the only gay kid in the family and consequently shunned/rejected" and it's like. so weird bc Mull is so Mormon he'd probably rather eat his shorts than even acknowledge the possible existence of gays but
i mean. Raxtus literally has a fairy form. he's a fairy dragon.
Ronodin was just emo lol
and they both get so thoroughly rejected and sidelined by their families their whole lives and it turns Raxtus into an awkward but basically decent guy who runs back to the approval of his family once he's performed masculinity/violence enough to be accepted, only to then realize that he's basically just being used and still not fully trusted/accepted and having to betray them to save his real friends
(who sadly are probably actually homophobic but that's ok bc they're not dragon-phobic so that works out for him)
while Ronodin's like "fuck it. chaos and murder then!" and can you really blame him? he spent his entire life trying to conform to the "right" (in this case, Light) way of life, started spending time with the outgroup and learned to question things, then was told he was "too corrupt" to remain in his home
like. the symbolism is right there.
it's so funny, because sure Raxtus isn't a bad guy, but Ronodin definitely is and he pretty much gets sent to a type of hell at the end of Dragonwatch
and while Raxtus gets kind of a happy ending, like, him becoming an effective killer in a war and being accepted by his dad for being Good At Murder in the first Fablehaven series is presented as a happy ending. if Celebrant didn't wind up being the main villain for Dragonwatch, that probably would've been the end of it! gay kid learns how to soldier and is finally accepted by his homophobic family bc he's finally aggressive enough for them to love him
(i mean i have MANY issues with Celebrant being the main villain later and the reasons he's framed as bad but like. that's a separate rant lol)
the queer reading is right there. but also it's very bad and you can tell completely unintentional. or at the very least highly repressed. idk man i don't look into Mull as a personal individual bc i doubt i'll like what i see and i don't care that much but Dragonwatch was SO MUCH MORE MORMON than Fablehaven already was and it's so weird, seeing the fingerprints of it all over.
i feel like he either has a new editor or he's been doing this for long enough and sold enough books that he has the clout to veto changes made by editors or SOMETHING, bc i feel like? he's gotten worse?? and more unfiltered?? that or something happened and he's like. even more religious than before or something idk
like fablehaven was just kinda generic/bland fantasy with some fun ideas for magic items/powers/one sentence character premises, with just a hint of sus Mormon ideology, and then Dragonwatch just went. Full Mormon.

Maybe it's just me, but part of why I never really felt completely secure in being public about my own artistic endeavors was how... being proud of yourself in any capacity for any reason is almost a faux pas, if that makes sense.
I've noticed how it's almost expected to perform the air of humility, but is that humility? Is it humility to say, "Oh, I'm sorry for clogging your feed with my awful art" or anything to the effect of self-deprecation?
I think that's why I so often gravitate toward those who make "bad art." There's a sense of freedom that is only achieved with the level of hubris that being unashamed in the number of people who hate your art. I wonder, though, how many people don't hate the art as much as they hate that they can't chastise the artist into humility, into recognizing how "terrible" an artist they "actually" are?
#art#i have clinical enough anxiety to not need people to expect self-deprecation from me when i do anything...#i always find it fascinating and almost freeing to see an artist make their own shit and be PROUD of that work#i unironically need to watch the room because that's the type of energy that i need so desperately#i do genuinely wonder if the largest critics of some of the 'worst' pieces of art do just tend to hate that the artist is openly prideful...#...that it isn't necessarily the art itself that completely enrages them but that they don't have the weapon of shame and humiliation...#...to put the artist 'back in their place' (the bottom)?#maybe i've been overanalyzing people's intention but i do wonder#i'm not saying you aren't allowed to dislike art (i dislike SO much art)...#...what i am saying is not all hatred of art is created equal and not all of it is something that is really as bad as it's portrayed#i need to emphasize that you are allowed to dislike art for whatever reason. there's some art i don't like for pretty petty reasons...#...but i don't think that requires me demanding artists to be ashamed and self-deprecate whenever they dare show their pieces#i think so many people are conditioned into self-hatred that anybody who shows any level of self-respect is off-putting though#like that's something i've really noticed a lot#and i think this is an aspect of the trend towards seeing self-hatred as neutral and even good

genuinely can't wait for jodie on bake off bc she Is going to be that weird one who takes the celeb version that exists only for raising money for charity, where the premise is basically that celebs make fools of themselves on tv by being bad at things to get people interested in a cause, too seriously, and she IS going to be weirdly die hard about winning and will go totally over the top. All to win an apron. An apron that you can just buy off their website where the proceeds go directly to charity. So you don't even need to actually win to get the prize.

#scared to go to a new doc bc i need a referral to a rheumatologist for several reasons most of all bc im scared they wont take me seriously#last time i went to a rheumatologist the verdict was that i probably have 'light rheumatoid arthritis connected to psoriasis'#and that its too early for meds#thing is some symptoms dont match up with that and im in so much pain and the fatigue has become a real issue#the diagnosis is 3 years old now and i rly should go back to a diff doc to get re-evaluated bc i cant manage life like this#but its hard getting taken seriously when ure young and a woman#im feeling humiliated and i havent even called the docs office yet lol#i hate this

Man I just.... I really really do not like NHS. I remember when I was trying to evaluate FJ's characterization of him, flipping through his scenes. I don't think we ever see him express any moral sentiments. One of his earliest moments is being all gee, wouldn't demonic cultivation be cool! And I feel like this is actually kind of a red flag, here! (And inconsistent with his FJ characterization but I mean, lol, obviously.) Like, I think CQL really does soften him up, in ways that aren't always obvious because they're less contradicting what we see and more adding to it. But when you really just look at what we see of him in the novel...
And I mean—I don't actually begrudge him revenge? Like, yeah, JGY killed his brother, obviously he's going to go for revenge. That checks out. I do think JGY was in the right, but I also get why that doesn't matter. But—you know, in the present day, Chifeng-zun's reputation is doing just fine. The brotherhood oath is on one of JGY's murals on the path to Carp Tower, for heaven's sake. The Qinghe Nie aren't in as great condition, but that's because NHS is whatever combination of incompetent and lazy and faking incompetence and laziness, and JGY provides NHS with a huge amount of support!
And JGY doted on NHS. If NHS had wanted to kill him, he could have. But that wasn't enough: he wanted to destroy as much as he could everything JGY had ever loved. It's horrible.

when aot was just abt to end, there were leaks ofc as there always are lol abt eren not really achieving any of his plans. and so much of the aot fandom, who have never lived through war, were genuinely upset over this. eren literally commits global genocide, he and his plan doesn’t deserve to achieve anything. especially not anything that would benefit him.
eren wasn’t one of my favorites until season 4 because of how utterly fucked up he is. he was a tragic MC who started off as a hero and as the story progressed, became a monster. even though we know what leads to his corruption, genocide is still wrong actually and having a characters worst fear come to life due to their own actions is the sort of tragic irony isayama loves. we’ve already seen isayama do this with reiner, zeke and grisha. it’s satisfying yet devastating at the same time how harsh the story is on them.
and the story should’ve been a lot more harsher to eren instead of the positive reaffirmation he got in 139 and from most of the fandom. eren claims the rumbling was for paradis, like thst shit didn’t kill off most of paradis’ population, and than he claims that it was for his friends (like pieck, who he has never even had a conversation with) but than he admits it was for himself - and it wasn’t satisfying at all because isayama wanted us to feel bad for eren and it worked. never mind the fact that eren killed his own mom, that he manipulated his own father for taking the FT for his own gain, that he annihilated 80% of the world - he did it for his friends 😊 so it’s okay! friendship >>>> genocide 😝
aot taking a very strong stance against eren’s actions and plan, denouncing them as wrong (bc they are) and showing them that nothing good comes out of them is wayyyyyy better the woobification and the mini redemption arc we got from him in the last chapter.
this is why i hate it when aot fans talk abt aot like it’s the greatest anti-war anime ever made. i think majority of aot fans are westerners or come from developed countries. it’s easier to understand war when ur watching cartoons of it instead of actually living through it. a huge part of the fandom justifies eren’s genocide, even with characters explicitly condemning him. do you really think it’s clear with its anti-war message when all we got was a few sad faces and a huge thank you from the main cast? one of the main themes in aot is the moral grayness of the world. the warriors did what they did because they were child soldiers trying to protect their families, EMA would’ve done the same. the scouts raided liberio (and were heavily against it). and masses of innocent people died in the name of other groups interests. there were literally no winners in this at all.
but why have characters that should’ve narratively and thematically been against eren suddenly forgive and praise him?
why break all the characterization, break all those different point of views, for the warriors specifically, if not for the final woobification of eren?
eren could’ve had one of the most extraordinary corruption arcs in all of anime just for that to be ruined and i will forever be mad abt it
