Hi Hi There.
Traveling through the forest our characters meet some traveling salesmen, these are dedicated to traveling through the towns buying some objects and selling them in other cities, they can also repair some objects that you carry with you to improve them if you have the money to pay.
The highest value and rarest items are in the top left tent, while the repair shop is in the bottom right. the other two tents have more common objects but that can be useful for travelers.
Explore the tents a bit and you might find something useful, or maybe it's time to get rid of that sword you're carrying to get some money to buy a better one.
But be careful, not everything is hunky-dory some of the vendors may use some dirty trick to get hold of some interesting item, so take care of your belongings.
Patrons will receive for each map: high quality images, gridless versions, special version for Roll20, map tokens, color variations, versions without props. PSD of the original map, PDFs for printing the maps, behind the map images and much more.

DriveThru RPG: charity bundle
Now that Roll20 Con has passed, it's back to work on the Doctors Without Borders cross-vendor bundle! People in Gaza are in desperate need of aid and, while many charities are helping on the ground or from afar where they can, Doctors Without Borders has an existing relationship with DriveThru rpg. This means we can create a bundle where 95% of the proceeds go straight to the charity, as opposed to the maximum of 70% we could achieve otherwise.
If you would like to contribute flick me a message and I'll send you the bundle ID and password. Currently planning to list the bundle at $9.99: a lot of titles for a small price should surely encourage lots of purchases, and therefore raise plenty of funds!
I will share the bundle link when it goes live.
For now: a list of included titles below the cut, which I will update as more are added.
Corporate Onboarding- High Lashbrooke
Cosy Wilds (5E)- Sam Robson
Lost and Forgotten (5E)- Kelly Whyte
Lost and Forgotten (Fate)- Kelly Whyte
Penguin Tale- High Lashbrooke
The Frigid World of Illambria (5E)- Sam Robson
Welcome to the Hereafter Hotel (Monster of the Week)- Redgate and Wolf
Where to Get a Bite (5E)- Kelly Whyte

Thursday - Radiant Plume Fight Night @ 9:30pm EST - Lavender Beds W15, P49 - Ever wanted to chow down on some grub, and sip on primal’s blood while watching two of your fellows beat each other to a bloody pulp? Well, we don’t have actual primal’s blood but we do have the other two things and a pretty damn good substitute for the other! The Radiant Plume is a new tavern opened in the dusty recesses of the Shroud, once a dliapidated cottage revitalized and renovated for your pleasure! The upper floor of the establishment houses a simple tavern with hearty fare and a vast array of alcohols. Just below that in the depths of the Plume you’ll find an open arena that showcases bloody brawls for your enjoyment! Weapons can be used upon agreement and for a price (IC gil), just in case our more lawful patrons decide to cause a fuss, but try not to kill one another. Your mess, your problem. That’s right. The Radiant Plume is a completely neutral ground, where anyone can shed their moral bindings for an evening of bloodsport and a little bit of drinks and dining. The owners only have a few rules: You break it, you buy it. No unsanctioned brawls on the premises. If you kill it, it’s your problem.

Events analysis - GenCon Online 2020
30On Monday I posted about the surplus of events now today I want start looking at specific events. In looking at these events I will focus on a summary of what they did, some feedback from the portion(s) I experienced, and some observations about lessons for other events.
I think there are a lot of lessons for events even after this current moment passes, in a post Covid-19 world events of all types will be different.
For anyone who is not familiar with GenCon it is a very long running gaming convention founded in 1968 by one of the creators of Dungeons and Dragons who actually founded it before inventing that game, Gary Gygax. It is the largest table top gaming convention in North America and regularly draws over 60,000 attendees each day for a long weekend each summer in Indianapolis where the only larger event for that city is the Indy 500 race. Each year it has over 15,000 different events that occur over the long weekend with games happening 24/7 during the convention.
Hundreds of vendors sell products to the attendees in the massive dealers rooms during the convention, with many companies launching new games at the show. While it is about having fun and playing games, it is also a very important business event for the industry with lots of new games launched at the convention. As an annual event it is also a chance for friends to gather and connect.
Gencon took a long time to decide to cancel the 2020 convention. In the end they were forced to cancel for the first time in the convention’s history. But they also recovered.
Last weekend Gencon held Gencon Online (from July 30th to Aug 2nd 2020). While smaller than the in person event, over 40,000 people participated in over 7000 different events that happened around the clock during the convention! Events were held in a wide range of online platforms - and ranged from tabletop games via Tabletop Simulator or other online platforms to role playing games held via virtual table tops and Discord to live streamed events on Zoom and Twitch and other platforms. They also recreated the dealers room online and had an expanded online store selling not just their usual convention merchandise but for the first time directly selling games from companies (mostly games that were being launched at the convention). The Discord server that Gencon set up for the convention will remain open indefinitely as a community resource.
Badges for Gencon Online were free which certainly helped make it more accessible to attendees all around the world. But events were not all free and were ticketed. With prices ranging from $2 (most games) to over $30 (for some workshops). The tickets helped make sure that people attended events that they registered for and most of the games that I signed up for were full so the tickets worked (and getting tickets for events I was interested in was about as difficult as getting tickets for games and events are for the in person event - not impossible but it is always the case that some things you wanted to attend will be full)
A few observations.
1. GenCon had the huge advantage over most conferences that they had already invested in building out their own ticketing solution for electronic tickets. So they were able to reuse that system and make all events digital/e-ticket only events fairly easily. They also already had payment processing in place with many attendees already having system credit in the GenCon systems from past events. And moving online meant that many events that would have had a physical limit on the number of attendees due to the size of rooms and fire codes could instead be made as unlimited events in the online context.
2. GenCon got great support in holding the events from many of the companies and partners who each year hold a lot of events at the live in person convention. I mostly played games from Paizo’s Pathfinder system and they leveraged their usual network of game masters and organized play infrastructure to migrate to the online experience. Just Paizo alone held hundreds of games with two online “specials” that had over 70 tables (of 5-6 players each) all playing the same scenarios simultaneously online and interacting across tables via coordination from the organizers. Overall playing onine felt very much like playing in person - and in many ways was an even better experience!
3. Online allowed Gencon to offer many experiences that have never been offered at the live in person event. I hope that they continue to hold the online event in the future. For example, I saw games being offered in Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and other languages - something that is almost never seen at conventions held in the US. When I played online it was also usually via voicechat (via Discord usually) and a virtual tabletop (I played via Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds but D20Pro was also used as well as a few others). This meant that I was playing at a table with people who’s voices I could hear but whom I could not see. It was an extremely good experience - every table I played at was friendly, welcoming, and everyone made sure everyone had a good time. At one table we were talking and realized that most people at the table were parents - but the table also included one player who was a great-grandparant. While you see that diverity at the live event as well it was great to play with people without knowing much about them upfront (other than that they were fellow gamers). Going into the future I hope that Gencon continues to offer a robust online component because I think it can help make gaming even more accessible to all.
Lessons for other conventions and businesses
Consider how an online event can be more open and accommodating of diversity than your regular in person events are.
Offer content and events in many languages - don’t limit yourself to just English.
Don’t force attendees to all be using video if voice-online or voice + a specialized application would work just as well (or even better than a many to many video stream).
Don’t just offer panels and events that are only a replication of the “content” tracks of your convention. Look at how you can replicate a LOT of interactive content as part of your event. As well for events that have a dealers hall or similar events think about how to migrate that online to support those partners.
For the future, think about how an “online” event could compliment a live event and enhance it. Can you offer the online version of your in person event in the future when live events are once again safe to hold? (assuming that such a future will exist eventually)
Leverage technology and processes you already have in place - but look also at how you can partner with others to not reinvent things. Discord for example is a very robust and well scaled way to create an online chat including voice chat experience that scales well, can be limited to the community, and works on nearly all platforms.
Keep the focus on fun but also don’t be afraid of selling. But consider whether baseline access (i.e. a “badge”) can be free while you sell specific tickets to specific portions of your event.
Work with your partners and sponsors to craft the event that will work for them - and whenever possible delegate - most of the 7000+ events of Gencon (as is true of their live events as well) were not created by Gencon itself but rather by their community and partners who organized the specific events.
