Clover was hanging out around the sky pillar, she had arrived to do some exploring however currently she was just checking her notes about the place from asking the locals around the region. And as she was reading she couldn't help but wonder what type of discoveries she might find, that is if archeologists or other mythologists hadn't removed anything from the sky pillar and she did know it was a likely possibility. She was also rather excited as exploring sky pillar would give her a chance to study the Pokémon that live within the massive ruined tower as well as how the species adapt the higher up the tower they lived as well. "If my knowledge is correct, lots of dark type pokemon should live in the tower oddly enough, heh, and I personally thought there would be a lot of flying types. Then again I can only assume something happened during ancient times in Hoenn that caused the tower to become abandoned." She would say to herself as she was steeling herself up to enter into the tower.
"Dark types? Well, that's a shame!"
A voice came from behind her, nearly directly behind her, interrupted her.
He wore a heavy black coat, and a blur backpack. His golden hair was tied up in a bun behind his head, save for his bangs, which covered one of his silver eyes.

How far will you go when it comes to researching pokemon? Like, do you study them in the wild and in captivity?
My lab is located in one of my Region's Wild Areas, so I primarily focus on researching Pokémons in the wild, but I also research in captivity! My most recent topics of research are regional forms and variant pokémons, so expanding on both wild and captivity I can get more data for my research.
If funding allows it, I'm also willing to travel to other regions to continue my research! But the last time I was able to travel, I was still studying to become a professor and get my degrees and specializations…

Now that I'm watching kj again years later no longer an 11 year old I think it's extremely fucking funny just how down some of the characters in this anime are to killing hachi. Like they see a child right there and don't even hesitate. He's not even joker. They just see this 8-year-old and think "ah yes. A baby. The perfect bargaining chip against this hyperactive criminal teenager."

The last 12 hours or so have managed to inflame my hatred of Adobe more than the last three months of attempting to figure out After Effects combined. Namely, because I had to download not one, but TWO different programs at the last minute in order to render an animation that was already finished—a layer of which got corrupted, mind you, because the damn cloud refuses to ever recognize my files and won't save anything—so I had to delete part of my foreground just to open the thing in the first place.
Between the technical difficulties and figuring out the damn keyframing, it would have taken less time to animate this thing flipbook style, one perpetually redrawn frame at a time than it did to put this thing together in After Effects.
I will take great pleasure in deleting these programs off my computer and I hope I won't need them again for a very long time.

Assorted One Piece Modern AU HCs
The Whitebeard Pirates are all part of a shelter/relief/mutual aid network for drug users, unhoused people, and vulnerable youth. Ace looks up to them all immensely and volunteers part time, but he's still very much on a journey of self discovery and healing
Ace is a massive music nerd and hobbyist with a near encyclopedic knowledge of genre histories and subcultural spaces. He goes to a lot of local acts his friends are involved in, plays the drums and bass and hangs out at Brook's recording studio/jams with him from time to time while he's in town (Brook loves Luffy and his family, and he's just happy to entertain young people who make or love music and let them use the space). He's undecided in his major but kinda leaning toward sociology or social work.
(Rayleigh is his prof, and unbeknownst to him, a college buddy/old flame of his bio parents who recognized him immediately and has no clue what to do with himself.)
Sabo is, of course, a socialist student organizer in a poli-sci/law program and interning at Dragon's practice (grassroots activist turned civil rights lawyer). The ASL brothers live together in a shitty apartment with barely any heat. He's secretly a massive film snob and organizes Radical Documentary Screenings with Koala from time to time.
Dadan has a cabin like 2 hours outside the city in the mountains and the brothers crash there every now and then over the holidays. She's retired now and constantly gripes about having to feed and shelter her stupid kids every time they come home but she still gets teary whenever she watches them go. Their childhood bedroom and three bunk beds are perfectly preserved and cleaned, and she wouldn't ever dream of moving Ace's posters or Sabo's old bookshelf and criterion DVDs or Luffy's plushies and taxidermied insects.
Brook's band is a genre-blending indie darling that occasionally tours the country. I'm definitely not the first one to think of this, but Laboon is a Newfoundland with severe separation anxiety and Brook has to bring him on tour or to half of the group outings. The Rumbar Pirates are a local jazz act he performs with from time to time, and he may or may not have dated Calico Yorki.
Usopp (fresh out of high school) only recently reconnected with his father and they've been having awkward family dinners with Kaya but it's getting less weird having Yasopp around. He babysits the Usopp Pirates part time and they love him to pieces; he's low-key interested in studying Botany and horticulture and has been checking out local degrees and training programs.
Franky's in the middle of an auto mechanic apprenticeship and is debating trying to get into a mech eng program at Robin's university; he was raised by Tom as a carpenter, and has worked as one for a really long time, but he's increasingly getting into engines and inventing things and the family's very supportive. Robin's a Masters student doing an hourly TA thing in Clover's class on Archaeology of the Void Century, and they're married.
Sanji, naturally, works at the Baratie and Zeff lets him brainstorm and test daily specials or set menus for holidays. He and Pudding are in the same patissier courses at culinary school (she's obviously a baking major); they're exes who've stayed friends and care deeply for each other. The ASL brothers sometimes pick up shifts at the Baratie (with the exception of Luffy who broke way too many dishes)–Zeff really likes all of Sanji's friends and dumps leftovers on them

To call Sophia Xafa a fringe thinker would be an understatement. During her time as professor of business at the Athens University of Economics and Business Xafa garnered a reputation for her idiosyncratic blend of psychology and economics.
Her work made use of controversial ideas from Jungian psychology, with the idea of the collective unconscious playing a key role in her theories. To Xafa, economies had no individuals, only a complex chain of nested rational actors who instantiate the market. Quote: “The mind is the market, the market is the mind.”
Her first book, Economy of the Unconscious went relatively unnoticed during its initial print run in 1961. Prof Xafa would continue to languish in obscurity until 1967 when the nascent project clover discovered her work. Through a series of shell organizations, project leaders were able to provide Prof. Xafa with significant funding and resources to develop her theories.
After four years of development, Xafa published A General Theory of Hypnoeconomics, the text that would provide the foundation for the field of the same name. Now backed by experimental evidence for a oneness of mind and market, Xafa’s theories became mainstream, sparking a new era for psychology and economics.
While Hypnoeconomics was revolutionary, few consider it a perfect text. The writing is dense, almost mystical in many passages. Even Xafanian purists will admit the text draws little in the way of concrete conclusions. It was not long until the tree of Xafanian Economics splintered into multiple competing branches.
The most common evolution of Xafa’s work can be found in Austrian hypnoeconomist Stefan Graf, who argues that if a market is a mind, it must be kept healthy. Specifically, he argues for Unbwegetgeist, a state in which a generally laissez-faire market is regulated at specific key points to mitigate risk as much as possible. Graf takes a strictly utilitarian stance on hypnoeconomics, one in which compromise and stability are tantamount.
Hypnoeconomist William Landry argues for a more holistic approach. The Landrian school argues that if a market is a mind, then it can be taught, trained like any other mind. Landry’s work directly criticizes Grafian modes of thought, placing heavy emphasis on “The Ritual of Stability” the idea that in many circumstances, the only thing that determines market stability is popular belief in its stability. While some still deride Landrian thinkers as “mystics,” it is generally understood that Landrian theories of Ritual Markets do hold water. However, there is little consensus around how they can be usefully applied.
Study is ongoing.

A suggestion for noted English Scholar Prof. Dr. Holligay! I know you have made cocktails based on each (or a selected few?) Senshi — would you ever consider a cocktail menu based on your favorite books?
This would be such an interesting idea, wouldn't it??*
I can't even imagine how I would go about that, you'd have to really think about what it meant to represent a book. Like Watership Down: The book is English, but I don't think it's SO English that the base spirits would have to invoke England.
So maybe I would do a really easygoing sparkling as the base, with a gentian liqueur to evoke grassiness, and then add maybe a touch of St. Germain for floral notes. OH OR. Infuse vodka with clover and dandelion flowers??? Use that with some sparkling and maybe a little swish of blackcurrant liqueur.
Actually, now as I'm sitting here thinking about it, I would actually want to make a few cocktails if I was going to do a Wateship Down thing
The above clover vodka-blackcurrent thing would be great as the actual "Watership Down" cocktail, but then I would want to do something for El-ahrairah and the Black Rabbit of Inlé which I think would have be necessarily different from each other.
I think for El-ahrairah I'm going to lean into both the 'brightness' of him, and the tricks, and maybe do a layered butterfly pea flower and orange cocktail. Maybe rum and butterfly pea mixed, with a layer of orange and pineapple on the top or bottom--I would try it both ways and see what works better--and then as they mix it would turn to pink. (the trick)
Black Rabbit of Inlé would be something dark and smoky, maybe either a mezcal or scotch base, with a chocolate bitter, and one of my dark whiskey cocktail cherries, maybe. Basically a twist on an old-fashioned. This is what I would drink out of these ahaha.
*Also, when I was fake-planning my Random Cheap Inverness Ticket vs Business I did not think of this at the time but I would absolutely head down south via Haworth and do the whole Bronte Sisters thing. Apparently there's an easy near 7 mile loop where you can go to the ruins that are supposed to be Wuthering Heights, and, yes, I would do that. I would hope it rained and was miserable so I could scream for Cathy

transitioning from eggghead to elbaf will be crazy especially with everything going on right now.
with all the spoilers online it's hard not to see them. Even though i prefer not wanting to see spoilers but they keep on popping up and it's difficult to ignore most of the time.
oda prioritizing his health is a good sign. we should not be demanding too much and him making a long running manga is really exhausting. honestly, I don't mind if he would take a year break.
with all upcoming plans from live action to re-animating earlier arcs, one piece will be okay for the next 10 years.
