No True Pair Writing Prompts

So, for anyone unfamiliar, No True Pair is a community over on Dreamwidth that features fanwork prompts. From their community profile:

no_true_pair is, loosely, a mad-libs-style challenge. You make a list of characters, a set of prompts is posted that uses all the characters in different combinations, and you create works using those characters. For example, if your list contained Darth Vader and Mickey Mouse as numbers 2 and 4, there could be a prompt like "2 & 4 go out for coffee" or "4 invites 2 out for dinner, except..." and you'd write Darth Vader and Mickey Mouse going out for coffee, or Mickey Mouse inviting Darth Vader out for dinner and then going from there.

Now, if this sounds interesting to you because you like writing prompts, awesome! I made a spreadsheet of all the prompts available so far (383 prompts available so far, excluding round 10, which was a "by popular demand" rerun of older prompts). The community is super awesome and has an AO3 collection, so if you're interested, you should absolutely give it a whirl! I'm going to explain how it works here.

The Spreadsheet

The first page of the spreadsheet is the instruction sheet. It includes links to everything and explanations of how the community works. You can see the prompts by clicking the "tabs" down there across the bottom.

If you have a Google Account and you want to play, you should go to "File" and "Make a Copy" to save a copy of it to your own Google Drive so that you can edit the lists. (See below screenshot.)

If you do not have a Google Account, no worries! You can go to "File" and "Download" the sheet to save a local copy that you can use. (See below screenshot.)

Once you've done that, go to one of the tabs at the bottom to pick a round. I'm going to use Round 8 in this example.

The Round Sheets

The round sheets look like this. You have a section at the top for your character list, and then the prompts are in the bottom.

You make a list of characters.

And then the prompts will auto-populate with their names.

And you can pick whatever you like to go forth and write! Now, obviously, I'm an FF7 writer, but you can do any fandom for this community. Or OCs! They're very welcoming.

guys i’m SO EXCITED for the Decode M.E study!!!

if u follow my blog you might know i’ve been mostly bedbound from myalgic encephalomyelitis for about 7 years. ME has basically zero funding, and a history of controversy and medical fraud when it comes to treatments and research. lots of patients have been mistreated and made sicker by dangerous treatments (including me). this biomedical study is looking at genetic causes to give us better treatments!

please go ahead and read about it, or TAKE PART if you have M.E, especially if you’re a severe patient!! we need more data from severe patients because our voices are often missed.

it’s uk only, but sharing could reach other uk-based ME patients! the survey is accessible, it can be done at home and has dark mode, audio transcriptions, and phone assistance for people who can’t look at screens due to light sensitivity. :)

Handead Anthem character emojis

I don't think I've seen a compiled list anywhere so, for all ten of us Handead Anthem fans out there I figured I'd put together a list of all the emojis the official Twitter uses for the lads! Now you can list all your favs in a reasonable character limit. :D

Note that this list is not complete, because so far as I can tell the only place they're using these is on the character birthday tweets starting with Ryu's last year. Sorry to Shimon fans, you might be waiting for a bit. The ones before that use multiple emojis and don't follow the same format so I'm not really sure which of the emojis are supposed to represent the character (to use Shimon as an example, his might be 🎤 because by process of elimination it can't be ☀ as that's Mamoru's.)

If you want to use my best estimation for what the missing characters might be, I'll denote the ones that don't have an "official" emoji yet with brackets! I'll edit them out later if I'm proven to be wrong. And fix any formatting errors that doing this on my desktop computer might have caused.

if you post an image in discord itll round the corners, but once you hit a certain smallness it rounds into a circle. so basically if you make an image that is 32x32 and you post it in discord itll go from this

so you basically can just draw a little face in mspaint or something and paste it into discord and itll look like a little emoji. you can potentially mess around with this a lot, its proportional to your image going smaller and it doesnt have to be a square either.

with my nakba posts, here's some website recommendations if you want to learn on the history of specific depopulated palestinian areas:

palestine remembered is probably the most famous and comprehensive website with full documentations of former locations and depopulated villages. it also lists information on palestinian refugee camps, guestbooks, and the ability to submit pictures/info if you know of any. information on each village varies.

zochrot is an organization dedicated to teaching both palestinians and israelis about the 1948 nakba (which is not covered well if at all in israeli schools, as you can probably imagine), which includes documenting information on villages and even an app. information on each village varies.

the interactive encyclopedia for the palestinian question's places page has some detailed histories and a map as well, but doesn't go into the detail of the last two sites, and doesn't have pictures or sources.

some villages also have their own websites, and many of them are also in english (for example, the one i linked for kafr bir'im). honestly just look up (village name) + website and if it's there you'll find it.

wikipedia also has surprisingly comprehensive coverage of the villages, the articles include a little more of the "war" background than the other websites do. (and of course since it's wikipedia you can find further sources on there.)

all that remains: the palestinian villages occupied and depopulated by israel in 1948 is a famous book by palestinian historian walid khalidi which gives a detailed account of what became of 400 different depopulated palestinian villages. it was released in 1992, so it's not current, but many of the things he wrote still hold. a lot of the above links use this book as a source.

on twitter, a viral thread started where people around the world shared their translations of “If I must die”, the last work of Dr Refaat Alareer also known as "the voice of Gaza". A beloved poet, teacher and life-long activist for Palestine, he was recently assassinated along with members of his extended family by a targeted Israeli air strike. His loss leaves a hole in the heart of palestinians all over the world.

Below the cut, I’ll be posting the translations of his poem, with links to the original posts. Unfortunately, tumblr limits posts to a maximum of 30 images. I will update when I can.
