In 4 minutes, Kurt Vonnegut explained stories better than anyone I’ve ever heard. “The shape of the curve is what matters. Not their origins.”
He plots stories on 2 axes: X: Time, Y: Good fortune / ill fortune. He goes on to say, “Somebody gets into trouble, then gets out of it again. People love that story. They never get tired of it.”
Point 1: Stories have defined patterns.
In Joseph Campbell’s Hero of a Thousand Faces, he makes the case for the Hero’s Journey. Since then, it’s become the most famous storytelling structure in the world. Vonnegut argued stories could be divided into 8 shapes.
Each story, he said, fit one of the 8.
Point 2: Vonnegut says, “Be a sadist.”
No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them — so the reader may see what they're made of.” To see who your characters really are, you have to make them suffer. Only then does your audience have someone worth cheering for.
Point 3: End on a high note.
Vonnegut says, “It’s not accidental that the line ends up higher than where it began. This is encouraging to readers.” The way a story makes people feel when they finish is how they remember it. It’s called recency bias. Lift people up and they will love you.
“There are people. There are stories. The people think they shape the stories, but the reverse is often closer to the truth.” —Kurt Vonnegut

Truth Bomb #4: Sometimes doing the right thing doesn’t always feel right.
You may feel guilt even after doing something that was absolutely needed and making the correct choice.
You can’t make everyone happy and its fine. You are not responsible for anyone else’s emotions.
Doing the right thing isn’t always easy or emotionally pain-free. Doing the right thing can sometimes alienate you from others or have an impact on your wellbeing.
Some people have a fear of conflict, fear of being left out or fearing being alone; but these fears must not stop you from standing up for what you believe in. Even if you’re standing up just for yourself and no one else, you’re doing the right thing.
Everything has a limit to it or it becomes unhealthy. Even “good” things such as extending kindness, being empathetic, giving second chances, listening to someone’s problems has a limit to it. It’s OKAY to establish that limit for yourself because no one else will.
Regardless of the outcome, even if you learn the hard way that you actually did something wrong, its still a lesson learned. Either way, its a win-win. You win some and you learn some.
Everyone makes mistakes.
Everyone makes bad decisions, sometimes with the right intent.
But not everyone works on themselves, protects themselves, and learns from their wrongdoings. To take accountability is difficult, but it is the first step to actually maturing for the better.

PRO-014 Pro Tips How To Build A Custom Theme
Understanding meta tags is the first step to making custom themes. Theme designers create custom themes using HTML and CSS. They add meta tags so people can edit theme styles from the customization panel without having to edit the code.
Meta tags control powerful style elements like background, layout, and navigation. If you’ve ever edited the HTML in a theme, you may have seen something like this in the <head>.
Tumblr media
This line adds the change background color option to the customization panel.
Tumblr media
But Tumblr still needs to know what element of your blog this option controls.
Further down in <style>, there’s a line that assigns this option to your blog’s background color.
Tumblr media
This line tells Tumblr to use the Background color you choose in the panel as the blog’s background color.

Ogni persona è diversa, quindi l'ascolto è fondamentale. Sia attivo, sia del linguaggio del corpo. ✨

TLDR: WC are awesome to practice design cause they can be interpreted so differently! shapes are very important and while they help colors and patterns are not a must. Conveying a char.'s personality is important!

Tip Time: Google Caches
AO3 is down right now, so for those of us who’ve gotten cut off halfway through a fic or are looking to start a new one, I thought I’d share a tip I learned a while back :) If you put “cache:” in front of a public webpage’s url and put it in your url bar, it’ll show you the most recent version of that webpage that Google cached. This means you can get see ao3 pages while ao3′s down, as long as it’s not a locked fic. (if this doesn’t work, try switching your default search engine to google.) You can get the url from your browser history if it’s a page you’ve visited before. This might not always work, but it is much more likely to work than refreshing the page until ao3 loads tl;dr, cache:[url] in url bar = working (slightly delayed) website

The biggest laundry game changer I've discovered are laundry bags. I'm talking about the mesh ones that you can fill with some clothes, toss in the washer, and then toss in the dryer. If you're someone who lives out of laundry baskets, where you keep up with washing your clothes but not necessarily putting them away, these might benefit you. A lot of people recommend them for delicate items like bras, but I've been filling them with socks and underwear as I do laundry and it's become 10x easier to find when my laundry is done because they're all in the bag! No need to dig through and shake out various shirts and sweaters to find them cause - BOOM - they're in the bag! I got a pack of 3 different sized bags at Target for under $5 so I can do a couple loads of laundry and not have to worry about running out immediately...okay I actually got 2 packs of 3 bags (6 bags total) for under $10. So they're not crazy expensive and you can probably find them for cheaper still elsewhere. But yeah if you want to make laundry a bit easier on yourself - buy some laundry bags!

Helpful thing I learned.
Guys! If you might've not known this, if you get a week streak of doing Duolingo, you get 3 days, free, of Duolingo Super features!
Tumblr media
I got all of this JUST because I did Duolingo lessons (and got all the needed XP every day, not sure if that's important but that's what I did every day), for a week straight, no day missed!
I hope this is helpful to anybody who didn't know about this. Not sure if it's a promotional thing that only lasts for a short period of time, or if it is a one-time/first-time-only thing, but it's still helpful to try out!
And hey! At least if you try you're not doing it for nothing since you're learning a language. I'm starting to get the hang of Italian, so grazie mille, Duolingo! (Technically for me it should be called Trilingo since Italian is starting to be the 3rd language, lol.)
