Porcelain fungus (Oudemansiella mucida)
These beautiful fungi start out as a dull beige globe, which opens up into this pure white, slick fungus. They have a remarkable talent for turning out the right way up, including when they grow out from the underside of a branch - their stipe will grow down and then curve up, allowing the cap to grow parallel to the ground in order to release their spores with maximal efficiency.

Oudemansiella mucida (increasingly being referred to by the synonym Mucidula mucida), the Porcelain Fungus, is specific to beech wood. It appears in autumn on dead trunks and on fallen branches, and occasionally it also grows on dead branches high up in living trees. (first-nature.com)

According to my app and my research, these are young porcelain fungus (Oudemansiella mucida)
It lives and thrives mainly on dead beech, which is exactly where I found this beautiful younglings. They are a little grey when they are this young and become porcelain white as they ripen.

Brainstorming Ideas for the Project Topic | Part III
I realized that even though it’s sad that I can’t use the surprise faced Sea Squirts, Fungi could also be a really intriguing topic.
Here are some interesting Fungi I found during research:
"Bleeding Tooth Fungus" (Hydnellum peckii): Its red or purple droplets on the tooth-like spines may give the appearance of blood, creating a macabre or eerie effect.
Tumblr media
"Dead Man's Fingers" (Xylaria polymorpha): This fungus features elongated, finger-like structures emerging from decaying wood, resembling the fingers of a hand reaching out.
Tumblr media
"Goblin's Ear" (Oudemansiella mucida): With its pale, slimy appearance and irregular shape, this fungus may evoke whimsical or grotesque facial expressions.
.
.
It is not uncommon for people to perceive patterns or shapes in fungi that resemble facial expressions or human-like features. This phenomenon is known as pareidolia, where our brains recognize familiar patterns or shapes in random stimuli. For example, some mushroom caps may have markings or textures that, when viewed a certain way, might resemble a face or facial features. These resemblances are subjective and vary from person to person. I thought if I use this concept to finalize what kind of insect/fungi I want to work with, my final output would be really intriguing. So here are some insects that resemble this concept:
