AND THE WORD TO THE WISE ANIMATIC IS OUT

I’ll appreciate you sharing it and commenting on YouTube, your positive reactions to my big, time consuming projects give me dopamine that I use to get myself into a crazy spiral of making more animatics! (Plus it helps YouTube algorithms to show the work to more peeps)

The whole thing took me about 3-4 weeks and 100 ish drawings to complete. I admit that it’s a tiniest bit crazy but well brain worms be brain worming, am I right?

I think I’ll also add some of my comments regarding the creation process in the subs later today, for those who are interested in this kind of stuff.

I did the whole thing in ToonSquid this time and tbh so far it’s my program of choice.

Orpheus is the "normal" one in his Addams Family-esque family - his twin Robin is weird and still only talks to him in the language they developed as kids; his Da still practices his sword work and archery skills every day; his Father talks to ravens (that talk back) and creates fantastic dreams and nightmares; his uncle still wears sunglasses at night (like it's 1985; yes there is a reason,,,,but that doesn't stop him from looking AND acting like a douche) and likes to stab things; one of his aunts still hisses at his Father every time they're in the same room.

And don't get Orpheus started on how distractingly in love his parents are with each other (and don't get Orpheus started on how he desperately wants the same kind of relationship too.). If they aren't doing their separate activities, they are all over each other - kissing, snuggling, hiding (not very well) in corners with their hands all over each other.

Orpheus just doesn’t want to scare off his girlfriend, he thinks he's serious about her, but she needs to meet and accept his family, if she truely is the one.

AMAZING. I love Dream and Hob as Morticia and Gomez. It works so well for them. Hob in a smart pin striped suit with his collection of antique weapons (all of which he knows how to use); Dream in long black robes and dresses, rolling his eyes as Hob ambushes him from behind and dips him into an enthusiastic kiss... the two of them strolling the grounds, Hob holding a black lace parasol diligently over his pale husband to shield him from the sun... as much as Orpheus moans about how unbearable they are, he adores his whole weird family. Not only does he want a partner who can tolerate them - he wants a partner who can love those weirdos as much as Orpheus does.

Of course Eurydice proves herself to be absolutely perfect. She somehow manages to understand Robin and hold fluent conversations with him. She discusses the finer points of fencing with Hob, and even spars with him (she was a bit shocked when he brought out a longsword, but she adapted quickly). She loves hanging out with Dream and his ravens, and they even let her hand feed them! Even Uncle Cori begrudgingly admits that Eurydice is pretty cool.

All of Orpheus's family members separately tell him that he MUST marry her - she's perfect, they want her to come and live with them ASAP! Hob can't wait to spar with her, Dream is going to teach her more about raven care, and Robin can't wait to talk to her more.

Orpheus isn't sure if he's the one marrying Eurydice or if his entire family is marrying her! But he's very happy, and he can't wait for the (weird) wedding <333

If I was rescuing my wife from the underworld by leading her out on the one condition that I not look behind me to see if she's following me lest I condemn her back there for eternity, I simply would have turned around to check but turn so quickly Hades wouldn't catch me doing it. Orpheus would say something that sounds like an incredibly cheesy pickup line but mean it so earnestly. Or he’d not understand the point of them/realize what he’s implying.

Note

Some sort of au (within canon verse or a human au) in which Hob met Orpheus first and are the best of friends. He’s incredibly curious about Orpheus’ fascinating family, and eventually gets to meet some of them; his wife Eurydice (lovely woman, Hob’s nearly as close to her as he is to Orpheus), his mother Calliope (living her best life now after having gone through a bad patch unrelated to her amicable divorce), his aunt Death (complete chance that Hob got to meet her, during a break in her busy work).

The one he’s most curious about though is Orpheus’ dad Dream; his friend talks about him the most, the guy sounds like an interesting man with an interesting life doing interesting work, and from Orpheus’ stories he seems like he does his best to be involved in his son’s life despite his busy schedule. And yet Hob’s never seen him at any event or party that it would make sense for him to attend.

Finally Orpheus admits that he’s been purposefully keeping them from meeting, because he knows Hob, and unfortunately knows that his dad is exactly Hob’s type, and he just doesn’t feel like dealing with the can of worms that’d be his best friend sleeping with his dad.

Hob laughs at him and says that he may be a bit of a slut, but if the idea bothers him so much then he promises he won’t try to sleep with Orpheus’ dad.

So the next opportunity to meet comes around, and Orpheus graciously permits Hob and Dream to be present at the same time. Hob takes one long look at Dream, leans over and quietly says to Orpheus “I’m really sorry about this mate, but I’m going to have to fuck your dad”, and then walks over to Dream while Orpheus sighs in defeat and thunks his head down on the table while Eurydice laughingly pats his shoulder in comfort.

Oh Hob. You nasty slut (affectionate).

Dream is older, of course - a proper dilf. Silver threaded through his dark hair, and a gorgeous lean body that Hob just wants. He seems quiet and reserved, but occasionally his lips quirk into the most beautiful smile, and his eyes crinkle up. Hob is smitten. If he ever had a teeny tiny crush on Orpheus, it’s immediately blown out of the water by the sheer magnetism he feels from Dream.

The problem (for Orpheus) is that Dream is just as much of a slut as Hob. He hasn’t let being a father stop him from having various flings over the years and poor Orpheus has witnessed many a walk of shame in the morning. It was great relief for him to move out and ultimately get together with Eurydice - he knows that at least he’ll never have to see his dad’s hook-ups over breakfast ever again.

(His winning streak of “not knowing about Dream’s sex life” is definitely at an end. He even gets a shirtless pic from Hob in the morning which he just knows is taken from his dad’s kitchen where he used to eat his coco pops.)

Orpheus at least figures that it will be a one time thing. Hob can get his rocks off with the old man and they can all move on with their lives. But oh how wrong he is. Because 3 weeks after the party, he gets a call from his dad. Not unusual, it’s nice to catch up. He’s almost forgotten about the whole Hob incident.

“I wanted you to be the first to know.” Dream says gravely. “And of course I will inform your mother imminently. Hob and I have decided to pursue a committed relationship. Of course it is too early to be considering marriage, but—”

Orpheus drops the phone, bless him.

Then again, he can think of worse people to have as a stepparent. And oh he is going enjoy giving a speech at the wedding. He knows all of Hob’s dirty secrets and many of Dream’s too. He’s going to get REVENGE.
