kim manners et al were all about the light through the slats in this episode. i painted another scene from this ep that also had this type of lighting - when john is telling sam and dean he has to leave without them. different location, same kind of light. i feel it though, it's good stuff. i'm also a sucker for it. hence drawing it twice!

actually i've decided i'm obsessed with joe's what are you gonna do kill me line. marwan kenzari plays that one 100% seriously which is in line with how he does the rest of the scene (perfect btw 100/10 we've talked about that that's not the point here) and i tend to overlook it because of that but in retrospect funniest possible thing to say to the guys who have kidnapped you for your immortality. what ARE they gonna do. kill him?

#neon has thoughts #saw a gifset. you know how it is #the old guard #joe 'faster than the elevator' al-kaysani WOULD say that #in context and with the way mr kenzari delivers it it reads a lot like he's so concerned over whether nicky is all good that he just kinda #snaps it at them. which very much works. but the line itself. funny as hell #and THAT'S reason 437 why mr kenzari should have an award for this scene and does in my heart with different delivery it would feel like a #marvel-esque quip but in the context it feels more serious and crucially Not Unbelievable #which is the key to the van scene imo. wrote a whole little meta about it once. but that's not important right now

#neon genesis evangelion #asuka langley soryu #rei ayanami #asurei #i was thinking about that one line about akechi about his personas one born of hate and one born of lies #it reminded me of asuka- obviously it’s not as extreme as akechi but #her hatred of herself and others (“i hate misato i hate shinjii…” that whole breakdown speech). lies is definitely more of a stretch but #when she speaks to her step(?) mother on the phone she acts all pleasant she also does that with kaji but that’s more of her wanting intima #cy i believe. then again she’s not afraid to be rude so maybe more like 3rd semester akechi but less aggressive idk #also the constant need to prove herself #I cant think of any parallels or similarities between rei and joker but i ship them so she's there Imao #OH also akechi's father and asuka's bio mother i feel like there's another parallel there that i'm too lazy to think about #maybe the feeling of not being wanted??#i was thinking of tagging Persona 5 but i don’t want to clog up tags or anything

Art collab I did with the lovely @shannonallaround! She did the line art, and I did the coloring.

for context, several months ago I had the sudden realization that these two scenes from 06 are mirrors of each other and that both Amy and Rouge know who Sonic and Shadow both really are deep down and know that the choices they will make will be for the better, and that in a way, both Amy and Rouge are there to help ground them back into who Sonic and Shadow really are as individuals, acting as their moral compasses and I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT THEM OK

#death note #l lawliet #trad art #got out the paint pens bc they’re so crisp #that black pen makes my shaky hands very noticeable but whatever #u get the scribbly guy since i cannot smooth my lines via procreate w/o a working pen #i have so many of these paint pens tho i don’t even think i used all of the blue ones #they all are very little tho #they’re the posca .7mm ones but i think i’d use them more if i got the 1.8 or thicker ones #my hands are shaky and my eyes are bad so it’d be easier if i could get bigger pens #i have a couple but they are all neon bc i like bright colors #and since i'm talking paint pens anyway i found an absolute beast of a pen #i literally have to fist it to hold it it's massive. i mean. i do have little hands but it's still massive #the ball in it literally clunks when i shake it rather than the little quiet noises of the other ones #its fucking massive i forgot i had it it is awesome i think i probably got it to color things in fast bc it's a massive wedge tip
