Fine - 5/10

I’ll be honest, despite being a partial Tori main, I’m pretty neutral about Fine. They get points for representation of Theater Kids™, manipulative pretty boys, and Tori’s :3 face but as far as music goes, they’ve never really stood out to me.

Trickstar - 4/10

I actually really like Trickstar but I feel like out of all the bands in ES, they’re the ones who would have a “my mom sold me to 1Direction” fanfic written about them in-universe and for that they get points subtracted

Unrivaled Meteor Ranger fucks hard and every member of this band has had a warrior cats phase but in extremely different ways. Chiaki probably kins Firestar. Kanata goes apeshit over the Sunningrocks debate. You get no further elaboration.

Look, I fucking LOVE Valkyrie. The songs go hard. I blast 'em all the time when I’m handed the AUX. If the band was just Mika (possibly also Nazuna?) then they would get full points, but I have a personal grudge against Shu for existing (top hat, manipulative but not pretty enough to get away with it, enjoys the French, the Nazuna situation) so he costs Valkyrie 5 entire points.

Their name just being [TWINK] makes me lose my shit but the fact that they’re secretly the angstiest fuckers in game gave me enough psychic damage to subtract 3 points. 1 additional point has been subtracted for those matching midparts.

They are magicians and they give gamer vibes and are therefore Untrustworthy. Also the shading on Natsume’s hand at the end of Emerald Planet makes me think of the hot dog hand people in Everything Everywhere All At Once. Perish.

okay so now that ive got it fresh in my mind. vice versa ep 8. in the first three parts there were maybe one or two scenes that i liked, the close-your-eyes-and-think-of-the-person-you-like being one, them playing with the cats being the second one, my boy from eclipse(up) saving Aou when they met the other guys being the third one. i dont know what we were doing with the whole “do this or i dont direct ting” just get a new director that was stupid fuck that, i remember very clearly thinking “i sometimes dont get you (Puen) at all” when they met the director but whatever i think i was just a little tired of what we were doing at the moment and i took it out on him. Part four was fun, good , now we’re talking. im slightly igniring their apparent need for a third love interest and focusing on what that leads to, focusing on 1) cute mirror scene, 2) “IDONT KNOW YOUR FACE AND I LIKE YOU I DONT KNOW YOU AND I LIKE YOU” because yeah absolutely that is what’s happening and all in all i think it was a nice way to lead the conversation towards it(edit: the insecurity about the faces, like yea it was stupid but it turned the stupid into something good so kudos). Plus it looks like we’re leaning into it next episode too which - yup, yeah. I like the line because they also just really drive home that that’s what puen really wants and i mean that in a good way, he wants someone to like him for him (or as much of himself as he’s willing to show), not his name , not his life, obviously that can’t work , because all of that, that need, his life, its all a part of him too and that’s why “i dont know you and i like you” is so perfect. looks like we’re talking more about all this, his life, his need to stay away from it etc next ep so , try as i might to not get too excited because idkhow far they’ll take it, i am looking forward to it (assuming they do it nicely episode nine is a good time for it too).
