Me: omg Keigo is so cute

My brain: teen Touya woke up alone with a different body and face learning years had passed and all he thought about was going home to apologize. Instead what he saw ruined him and he let Touya stay dead to let Dabi change the world. But he never wanted that. All he wanted was to be a hero with his dad. And now that pain has spread to so many other people like Shoto and Keigo. But Touya still just wants his father to look at him. Dabi wants to prove Touya was worth it, that everyone in the League of Villains was worth it.

Praying someone in his life steps in and makes him take a multi month long break because dear lord. Note - I just started getting back into MHA- mainly because of the manga that I still need to catch up on so expect a lot of ideas/fanfics.

Pairings; Dabi x Reader

Word count; 349

Summary; I honestly have no idea how tf to summarize this.

Warnings; grammer mistakes, fluff, Dabi being soft (?)

You didn't understand why Shigaraki had to pick such a strange place for the league's new hidehout. Everything was rusted and old, looking as if it would break from the smallest gust of wind.

But that wasn't the issue. No, the issue is that you were always so cold! No matter how many shirts, sweaters and blankets you wore. You were still cold.

You had even tried asking Shigaraki if you could move location's, but his answer was always ' no ' or some hour long lecture on how this place was the furthest from the heroes, and blah blah blah.

That still didn't help with your situation.

Sighing heavily, you huddled into the corner of the wall. Doing your best to keep warm. Unaware that Dabi had been watching you.

" you look cold. " He spoke, interrupting your sad attempt to keep warm.

" wow, really ? I honestly couldn't tell. " You spat while glaring at him, as he rolled his eyes in response.

Jumping down, from the crate he was just standing on. Dabi then made his way towards you. Raising an eyebrow, you watched him, curious at what he was doing now.

Carefully moving you aside, Dabi sat down in your spot before pulling you into his chest. Arms wrapping around you, in a rather protective manner.

Within seconds, you were greeted with the warmth you craved for so long.

" this is nice. " You hummed while resting your head against his chest. Enjoying both the heat he was giving off, followed by the relaxing sound of his heartbeat.

" yeah, thought I'd do something before you turned into a popsicle. " He teased. " Ha, ha. Very funny. " You murmured in response, cuddling closer to him. If possible. Tensing up for a second, Dabi looked down at you before smiling weakly.

I have a feeling mha's not ending this year as planned 👀👀

Maybe or it will be close.

We are on Issue 30 of WSJ - there are 20 issues left in 2022 (2 double issues), and then 3 issues in December (which for WSJ is already 2023).

So if there are no scheduled breaks or anything else this year (hard to imagine), we can get maximum 23 chapters.

Right now, we are 14 chapters into the endgame battle and we had:

343-345 - trap + separating villains (3 chapters)

346-347 - Team vs Shigaraki (1.5 chapters)

347-349 - Team vs Toga (2 chapters)

349 - 352 - Dabi vs Shouto (3.5 chapters)

353 - Everyone's positions

354-357 - AFO vs Team (4 chapters)

And none of these battles have been fully finalized. Actually, it feels like this is where the balance will start to tip towards the villains.

For comparison, in the PLF War arc, the balance tipped to the villains right around this point in 273, with Shigaraki awake, Machia on his way, Toga on a rampage.

It was wrapped up afterwards in 22 chapters, though there were only 2 battle locations and only a few characters got specific highlights / fight scenes.

Now, looking at Jirou's moment, I'd expect a bit more than just a hype panel for the students who will get highlights (I'd expect highlights for: Aoyama, Shoji, Sero, Mina, Kirishima, Iida, Momo, Kaminari, Tsuyu at least from Class A) and then multi-chapters for Uraraka, Bakugou and Deku, as well as I expect at least 1-2 more chapters focusing on Shouto), along with their villains.

Other than class A, I think there will be content also with Shinsou/Aizawa/Shirakumo storyline.

So yeah, that's going to be a bit tight to fit into 20 chapters (though not undoable - Hori doesn't really do long fights).

And I expect about 2-3 chapters worth of epilogue.

So my best guess right now is having around 26-28 chapters left which would go into the beginning of 2023. But this estimate can go off the rails completely, if HK for example gets into drawing Mirko during 3 chapters again, just because he wants to.

So, I'm catching up on the MHA manga where the anime left off.

I'm on 349 now with about 45 chapters to go.

I need to buckle up for whatever the war arc has in store. The first two arcs (Star & Stripe, U.A. Traitor) were already emotionally gripping. I have been spoiled on some things, such as the identity of the traitor, but I'm still looking forward to see what goes down.

Read on for potential spoilers, though nothing overly spoiler-y.

Deku and Ochaco's chat before the final war arc was so touching. It was sweet when they both called the other "weird" in a sweet, gentle way.

I love the panel in 348 when Deku has to go back to fight Shigaraki after he initially got separated from him. I'll leave the panel here and let it speak for itself.

(All credit goes to Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi and anyone else involved).

It gives a nod to the conversation I mentioned earlier. When anything sweet comes up between them, it always brings a smile to my face.

I'll drop back to give any more thoughts I have.

Also hope to bring that Inko and Ochaco dinner fanfic to you very soon! Life's been very chaotic lately, but I'm still eager to share it with you.

Being an absent father has its advantages.....lol

So I think everyone has kind of come to the agreement that, while it’s super shitty that Endeavor isn’t there to face his son, it’s also probably for the best.

I’m going to double down on that and say that there is absolutely no better way for this to have gone. Why? Because Endeavor not being there provided an opportunity for something new, something that was never going to happen, had he actually fulfilled his responsibility and shown up.

What is happening this chapter? Well we see Touya saying something really heartbreaking:

And we see Touya identifying with the League, and lumping himself in with them for the first time. And who is this all being directed toward? Shouto. Honestly probably the last person Touya wanted to see here, since he was ready to take on his dad right then and there. But he’s not just ranting AT Shouto, he’s explaining himself. He’s explaining his actions, motives, his feelings. It’s literally the complete opposite of how he explained himself when facing Hawks, when he hid behind Stain’s ideals, and denied having any personal connection to the League:

AND! Not only that, Touya finally titled himself correctly, Shouto’s big brother <3

I don’t know what it is about Shouto, but being there brought out a side of Touya that we haven’t seen. Not only is Touya (accurately) explaining himself, but he’s also answering questions. Shouto asked him something really personal just right off the bat:

Something we’ve all been wondering, something the rest of the Todofam is wondering. Shouto just went in for the kill, and Touya decided to actually answer:

Now seriously, ask yourselves, would ANY of this have been able to happen if Endeavor were there? I’m gonna answer that for you–No. It wouldn’t have.

But everything I listed up top is the obvious. We already knew all of that. What I want to double down on is the fact that Endeavor being absent, yet again, is not a mistake, a blip in the narrative, a glitch in the matrix, or a lapse in Shouto’s judgment.

Shouto isn’t really ever shown to be like Midoriya or Iida or even Touya himself in battle, who charge in senselessly without calculating. Shouto kind of learned his lesson very early on not to hold everything in and only depend on himself. So Shouto choosing to be there without Endeavor? That’s not a hasty decision, not to me at least.

I think Shouto decided that it actually is better to handle this without Endeavor. Maybe not entirely alone, but definitely without Endeavor. Why? Because what was Shouto’s INITIAL reaction as soon as he woke up in the hospital?

Literally the FIRST thing Shouto decided was that HE had to do it. Just him.

But alas, a talk with his hurting, grieving, confused family changed his mind which resulted in him making, what I consider, a miscalculated decision:

I always thought it was a bit odd that Shouto avoided eye contact with his dad when reaching out like this. Like….we all knew when these chapters came out that it just wasn’t going to go as smoothly as the Todofam was hoping. We knew, Shouto knew.

And what happens after Shouto decided to include his dad in what was originally supposed to be his own quest?

Well, we see Endeavor avoiding responsibility by focusing on someone else’s kid. We see Endeavor dodging Shouto’s phone calls because quite frankly, Endeavor knows he is the worst person for this job. We see Shouto confronting his father to “do it together” countless times, only for his requests to be ignored over and over and over again.

And lastly, Shouto going back and forth on how to even address his brother.

Touya? Or Dabi?

Not saying Shouto doesn’t deserve a good internal struggle on the situation. He probably doesn’t know what the hell he’s gonna do or how, just that he has to try. And Touya’s words this chapter definitely fall in line with my belief that Shouto needs to separate himself from his father in his brother’s eyes (more of a deep dive on this here and here). But my point is, Endeavor being involved during the Deku solo arc did nothing but hold Shouto back, probably contributing to Shouto not entirely knowing how to go about the situation (hence going back and forth on Touya/Dabi), and prolonging the process of finding Touya and starting this long overdue conversation.

To me, Shouto choosing to be there without his dad was not a mistake and it’s not something that needs to be fixed or mended, or redone. I think Shouto knew that this was honestly the best way, the only way. Because without Endeavor, Shouto can actually exchange words with his brother. Whereas in the war arc, that just wasn’t an option because the second Endeavor fell unconscious, Touya dipped. And when Endeavor was awake even, Touya wasn’t willing to talk, he just wanted to burn.

At the end of the day, it was always going to be Shouto doing this without Endeavor–AT FIRST. This isn’t me saying Endeavor won’t show up and play his part. He definitely will somehow. He has to. But looking back at the Deku solo arc, Endeavor made absolutely zero progress. He stayed stagnant, and Shouto himself noticed this. And Shouto said it himself, that it was his own choice to be there, not because he was ordered to.

Shouto chose to be there because he knows that he is the only one who can do anything even remotely good for his brother.
