speaking of The Painting Lady, i have been thinking thoughts and i will say? that it may very well be hecate, the look is there and dapper's mentioned her multiple times! but....... even if it *is* hecate, can we talk about how something about that whole lore section was........... it felt *personal* — you don't drop your castle outside someone's house in a weird point nemo vacation island, leave ominous books, come out of your painting to stab their ass and act all spooky and shit if it *isn't* personal????
anyway so it'd be really fucking funny if this is how we found out q!bad has an ex-wife

May I Introduce You to My Beloved Wife?
Random spoiler part 84, not proof-read, this will get published one day after Coleoidea, I swear!!
"Also-" The doorbell rang. Annabeth and Percy looked at each other and then at the small squirming bundle in Annabeth's arms. Blackjack barked and Daedalus was nowhere to be seen.
"Who could that be?" Annabeth questioned, holding her son's tiny body closer to her. He was finally falling asleep and thankfully the doorbell hadn't disturbed him.
"I have no idea," Percy admitted. "We've warned everyone to stay away."
He walked to the intercom and picked up. "Yes, Argus?"
"Mr. Jackson? I have your uncle and your aunt Zeus and Hera Theodoropoulos-Grace waiting to be let into your apartment," doorman Argus explained.
Oh great, Percy thought. Of course Hera didn't give a single shit about his wishes. With a sigh, Percy gave the go. "Let them come up."
"Of course, Mr. Jackson." They both hang up.
Percy walked back to the very tired Annabeth. "Who is it?"
"My aunt and my uncle."
"Great," Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Can't they wait for two more weeks?"
"Nope. You know firsthand how impatient my aunt is."
Percy then walked back to the hallway and opened up the door for the elder couple. Hera held her Hermes Birkin bag whilst Zeus was drowning in flowers, a WholeFoods bag and Congratulations! balloons.
"You look awful!" she greeted her nephew.
"Oh, geez why thanks," Percy answered sarcastically. "It's not like we are dealing with a newborn and sleep is the last thing on our minds." On cue, Hera rushed past his side to Annabeth to look at the newest addition to the Theodoropoulos family.
"Oh, there he is! He's beautiful! Just like in the pictures," cooed Hera who dropped her quarter million dollar bag to the ground as if it was nothing.
"Thank you," Annabeth honestly smiled. She was oh so tired, but she was happy. She was happy her baby was finally here. Pregnancy was not an easy deal and the birth had been worse.
Percy helped his uncle put the flowers and the balloons aside. "We didn't want to intrude," Zeus said, rubbing his neck. He felt very uncomfortable disturbing his nephew's young family. Hera jumped up, marching up to her husband.
"Nonsense!" she barked. "We are family!"
She marched to the kitchen isle and emptied out the paper bag. "Hades and you are the closest to a grandfather the poor thing will ever have!" she explained, looking at the sleeping newborn in Annabeth's arms. "You will get used to being here." Hera then demanded of Zeus.
And then Percy saw it. And he realized and understood something for the first time. Zeus looked to the floor, angry and upset. But the main emotion Percy could detect from his uncle's face was grief. It was underlying in Hera's shrill tone as well. Deep-rooted sadness hit both himself and Annabeth, although Annabeth didn't understand why. But Percy did.
Percy wanted to hit himself. He only thought about his father in relation to himself, how his life, his awful decisions and his pathetic death had impacted him, his only son. But Poseidon hadn't been just a chapter in his mother's life or a random note in his son's. He was a part of the proud Theodoropoulos family, no matter how awful he had been. There were more characters in this story.
And sure, he as the son of Poseidon had a special relation to his father, but it wasn’t the only one. While Percy may have lost his father, Zeus had lost his older brother. Hera had lost her brother-in-law, Hades had lost his little brother. Poseidon had been someone's nephew, uncle, son, grandson and brother. Husband and lover. And now he wasn't there anymore. He wouldn’t be anyone’s something anymore.
There have been years and decades before Percy's existence, even before Sally's relationship with the foolish Greek, where Poseidon had been an integral part of Hera and Zeus' lives, part of their shared stories that only lived on in their memories and that will forever be forgotten once it was their time to go. Percy felt awful, he hadn't realized that they, his extended family, were as angry and upset over his father as he was. That they still were grieving over his death and likely would for the rest of their time.
Then, sounding like a Spartan general, Hera announced, "I will be preparing food, Annabeth will look after the baby, Zeus will not stand in the way and you!" She pointed at Percy, her blue eyes sparking angrily. "Will make sure I don't kill my husband!"
Percy swallowed. She could be downright scary. "Will do," he promised.
I am a Hera apologist and propagandist and there's nothing y'all can do about it. Also look forward to the emotional turmoil of this fic, like damn x.x

May I Introduce You To My Beloved Wife?
I swear to god, I will write this fic once I'm done with Coleoidea. Both have been haunting me for the past 2-3 years! I don't know how you smartphone girlies do it but writing on a phone is straight up hell. Anyways. Random scene, not proof-read, yadda yadda
“And now you’re taking a nap and let grandma do the dishes, right?” Sally smiled at her grandson whose giggles warmed her heart.
Annabeth and Percy truly gave her the biggest gift possible, even if by accident. She had hoped that she’d have a few grandchildren roaming around and now she finally had one. With Percy’s current trajectories and managing his father’s legacy she wasn’t sure how soon her only child would start a family.
The bright boy in her arms blinked slowly as he was truly succumbing into his sleep. He stopped squirming. That was until a shrill mechanical chime woke him up. Gone were any signs of tiredness. “Oh, I wonder who that could be… I didn’t order anything.” Sally asked herself, still carrying her grandchild as she went ahead to open the door.
“Sally! Tengo que decirte todo que ha pasado en mi viaje!” It was her beloved neighbor Esperanza Valdez who had come back from her two-year long trip through Central and South America, visiting dozens of relatives and friends along the way. Retirement had its perks. And as a former car mechanic shop owner, the elder woman had saved up a lot of money.
“Eh?” Esperanza halted, her brown eyes widening as she realized that her friend wasn’t alone. Sally held a toddler in her arms with fine dark brown curls and sea-green eyes that curiously observed her. “Y de quien es este bébé?”
Sally grinned widely and reassuringly rocked the child in her arms. He did not have to fear anyone. “Este es mi nieto.”
“Qué?!” Esperanza nearly yelled. “Percy ya tiene hijos?!”
Sally nodded and she felt how her vision got blurry. The candy shop employee blinked them away. She was so happy that her small family grew in size. Neither her son nor she were alone anymore. For the most part.
“Mira eso… el tiempo vuele.” It was Esperanza’s turn of choking up as she patted the toddler’s cheek, making him crack a smile. “Y tiene la misma cara de su papa.”
“Si,” Sally admitted, a tad bit sadder. “Y de su abuelo. Los mismos ojitos.”
It pained her. It truly pained her. Poseidon, wherever he was be, never had the chance of seeing her son grow up. And now he would never be able to greet his descendants. Percy had transferred all of his father’s looks downright into his own child.
Sally’s former love was gone, while his legacy finally began to thrive. No matter how awful he was at times, many times. Not knowing one’s family, a fate she knew too well… Sally did not wish such a fate to anyone.
Big oof. Anyways, will drop one shot + probably post the first ~10 pre-written chapters of The Nymph (you can thank Pearl for that) whilst working on Coleoidea in the near future. I really hoped to get to post stuff sooner :s
