Sometimes a family is just an autistic ADHD stone-ager who’s obsessed with space and chess, a weird but loving friend group who are always seen together, a scary little girl, a physically disabled guy who really wants to be included in things, a bundle of autism and trauma recovering from being falsely accused of stuff, a very enthusiastic autistic ADHD Georgian who can’t get enough of romance novels and pop music, a melodramatic poet who’s very annoying but at the end of the day still important, a stuffy Edwardian mathematician whose full potential never got realised, an autistic military-fascinated man repressing his homosexuality so hard he’s through the closet and into Narnia, a youth group leader trying to organise them all together even though it’s like herding cats, an arsehole politician trying desperately to cling to some dignity, a bloody pigeon… and the couple who have to deal with them all (a wife who deals with them all, and a husband who helps her deal with them all despite the fact he can’t see or hear them).
And that’s beautiful.

Tribute to the BBC's Ghosts, created by, written by and starring the Six Idiots (Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond) of Horrible Histories fame.
My introduction to Horrible Histories was through Simon Farnaby hosting The King in the Car Park documentary where he was present for both the discovery and forensic autopsy results of Richard III in 2012. Despite him clearly having been brought in to be a comedian for when it was believed nothing would be found, he treated the Ricardians, their search and the historical figure with more knowledgeable interest and respect than the disdainful scientists often showed. The Six Idiots are genuine history buffs, which can be seen throughout both Horrible Histories and here in Ghosts.
