Ahm...visual kei fans a question for science, cause why not. If all your favorites were to star in a movie, would you watch it? Also if it was put on sth like kickstarter, would you support it. Wild scenario but still, ye know...hypothetically speaking.
In case you're wondering about which bands I was thinking I am talking both active and disbanded bands. Not a musical, but it would have some music in it. I'm talking bands from the 90s, all up until now. Bands like Malice Mizer, Versailles, D, Lareine, you know the artistocratic type ones and others like the Gazette, Screw, Born, Alice Nine, Diaura, SuG, DOG inThePWO, 9Goats Black Out, Vistlip, Kaya, Hyde, etc. Oh and they all get to keep their band theme.
Also I'm not talking about a movie like bands against bands, I'm talking intricate dark fantasy plot, plot twists, lore and all.
I know it sounds specific but again, just hypothetically speaking. Take it as a silly question of the day. (i'm curious about all gens fans opinions btw, so, old school, neo visual kei and however we call the current state of the scene.)

also psst if you're playing on the hermitcraft tcg simulator a common mistake i'm seeing a lot is "opponents who don't look like they're playing enough items for the deck they're running" - you want somewhere between a third and a half of your deck to be item cards, is my current guess as "approximately the right ratios", with the less end being for cheap decks/single-color decks, and the more end being for multi-color/more expensive attack decks. also the double-item items are very good and worth some of your rare card slots.

Oblivion AU Fic Concept
Based on a dream I had, that I doubt I will ever have time to write, so feel free to use it as a prompt. @ me if you do anything with it - I'd love to see the result.
At the end of the main quest, instead of the Avatar of Akatosh turning to marble, it flies away and roosts in one of the many abandoned forts around Lake Rumare.
On consulting with Ocato and whoever is left of the Council of Mages, the hero is told they must collect dried seed pods from Mana Blooms (the kind found in Camoran's Paradise).
In a similar way to Nirnroot, a very particular effect is gained from these seedpods which will affect the Avatar. Get your potion right, and Martin comes back. Get it wrong? Who knows what will happen...

You're more amazing than birthdays
Oh neat is it your birthday? Cool!
Anyway, here's a Thing to try to fix the land mechanic
Mana Insurance: A casual MTG bonus rule.
All players get an emblem with "2, Exile a land card from your hand: Draw a card", "Exile two cards from your hand: Search your library for a basic land card, put it into your hand, then shuffle", and "Land cards with cycling cost 1 less to cycle. This effect can't reduce the cost to less than 1."
Getting mana screwed, mana flooded, or color screwed sucks. No matter what ratio of lands to spells you run, you can still get screwed OR flooded. It causes "non-games" in which one player can't properly play the game, and there's not really anything you can do about it. This is a problem that I think absolutely needs to be fixed.
This rule is intended to mitigate these situations without being so strong as to greatly change normal gameplay; spending 2 mana to essentially do nothing is best avoided, as is throwing away 2 cards to get 1 basic land. The abilities provided are expensive enough to only be worth it when necessary.
These abilities were originally designed as cycling abilities, but that would provide a disproportionate benefit to decks that can take advantage of easily discarding cards into the graveyard, so now they're effectively cycling abilities that exile instead. This method still gives disproportionate benefit to hellbent decks or stuff like Hazoret, but that's niche enough that I don't care.
Another possible way to address mana screw is to give nonland cards the ability to be played as lands that enter the battlefield tapped and tap for colorless mana. I decided to go with searching for a basic land instead, because it addresses color screw.
The "cost 1 less to cycle" part is specifically intended for generic cycling abilities, not for [thing]cycling abilities. This is only relevant for Ash Barrens, which is covered by the "can't reduce to less than 1" part, and Ash Barrens is also the only land card with a cycling ability that only costs 1, but I just want to clarify my intentions.

You know you have a well-designed alternative win condition when everyone will just try to cheese it with Morophon instead of doing it the intended way.

Since many of you liked the masterpost with visual kei movies, which proves many of us are still around, is there anything else you'd like info on? In case I know sth that could help I mean.
Is there for example a band you were always interested in but never got down to searching, or one that still intrigues you, but you just never found the right song to like them? Cause sometimes some bands do have some bangers that never make it to an mv form, I mean.
I don't know everything about every band, of course, and my knowledge lessens greatly when it comes to bands formed after 2018, but still, if you got a question do share it, maybe one of my followers has sth you need.
The bands I'm most familiar with (therefore I'm most likely to know sth more about) are:
9GOATS BLACK OUT
Alice Nine
AND -eccentric agent-
BORN
Codomo Dragon (until Kana's departure, cause roller coaster of emotions, however I am still following Kana's work)
D (Asagi solo, Ruiza solo & Hide Zou solo, as well as some stuff from their previous bands)
DIAURA
DOG inThePWO
Gak (ex. Purple Stone)
Hyde
NETH PRIERE CAIN (only newbie I know a few things about, emphasis on "few")
Kaya (mostly his solo activity, my knowledge on bands he's been in is pretty limited (i.e: Femme Fatale & Schwarz Stein))
Kiryu (& some My Dragon stuff)
Liraizo (until Suzune's withdrawal at least)
Malice Mizer (Klaha, Mana, Közi and Yu~ki activities all in, although I know almost nth about Moi dix Mois)
Gackt
Megaromania (Sui (David) and Mizaly solo activities included)
Metis Gretel
RonoCro (limited knowledge, mostly around Minami)
REIGN
Plastic Tree (however I'm more familiar with Ryutaro's solo music cause I could find more stuff I liked there)
Screw (and any solo or session band activity of the members)
KHRYST+
Anli Pollicino (limited knowledge)
VANIRU (limited knowledge)
SuG (mostly anything Takeru did while in the band, every solo work during its course and after it)
The GazettE
The Valentine
Fi'ance (a little more than limited knowledge)
TRUST (some stuff I guess)
Tokami (from Agato's joining till the disband) (basically every band he's been in, I've checked it too)
Versailles (+ Kamijo's and Hizaki's solos)
Hizaki Grace Project
Lareine
Vistlip (+ Lill)
I think that's all. Yeah my life revolves around bands I know. If anyone wants recommendations or wants to know sth about a release or a video or sth, feel free to ask.

In honor of potentially reaching the end of the flashbacks, here's a list of all the important things the audience knows but our boy Allen Walker does not:
Cross is still alive but MIA
Link is still alive and on team Nea under orders from Lvellier, likely tailing Tiedoll and Johnny (who are a few days (?) away from Allen and Kanda's location)
Kanda rejoined the Order just to help Allen/kill him if he has to
Kanda is in the early stages of becoming a Fallen One (this may or may not be stopped by him becoming a general)
Nea WANTS Allen to learn everything about him, believing that will speed his awakening
Road had Cross tell Allen in a dream to find the Campbell mansion
Nea was bffs with someone who might be a past version of Allen
Lavi and Bookman were abducted by the Noah, but Bookman is currently recovering at the Campbell mansion and waiting for Allen to show up
The Noah were unable to get any info from Bookman while he was with them and it's suggested Wisely let him go
Wisely and Road are the only Noah shown to have undamaged memories of Nea
Lavi has presumably been with the Noah for 3 months minimum
The Thirds (remember them!?) are team Noah now but we haven't learned why
Apocryphos had been screwing with Allen and/or Mana from the beginning
Allen is a "sacrificial lamb" for the Heart of Innocence (still unconfirmed if he HAS the heart, my guess is no)
Tyki looks just like Nea as noted by Road and Wisely. (unconfirmed if the Earl's memory of Nea has recovered enough that he would recognize Tyki's resemblance to Nea)
Nea is confident he can invoke Crown Clown, but hasn't done it yet
Nea + Mana = Millenium Earl, and now that Nea is waking up the Earl is breaking down into Mana again(?)
And last but not least, the Earl/Mana was Allen's adoptive father (so far only Road and Cross have been shown to know that, but Tyki is close to learning it too)
Feel free to add stuff I missed!

I have now finished Mahoyo.
What the FUCK is the Fifth Magic? Do we seriously have no idea other than "It can be used for time travel and Aoko using it contributes to the eventual destruction of the universe?" Also, I was previously under the impression that the term "path to the Root" as it relates to True Magic simply meant ways of using magecraft to make contact with it, as I would expect that the Root is metaphysical and omnipresent in nature. It would then follow that reaching the Root is more of a spiritual act than a physical one, but the text says that grandpa Aozaki discovered a path to the Root in Misaki, and then sealed it off, implying that it's a physical location you can just walk to?? Hello????
I'm also still baffled by the notion of how True Magic is actually inherited, because while the Fifth Magic and the Aozaki Magic Crest are talked about in tandem as far as the Aozaki inheritance goes, I can't remotely imagine that you could pass on Magic through a Crest — that would feel almost like reducing it to the same level as magecraft, and it's mentioned that there are conditions for its use that Aoko doesn't meet until the finale. I'm just hrgrjrgrjegrnhrnr
I did enjoy the finale of Mahoyo, and I'm not surprised that I walked away without a lot of answers, but it's very frustrating. It feels akin to like if UBW progressed all the way from start to finish without explaining what Unlimited Blade Works actually is and why Shirou can do it
The 5th Magic is Not Actually Time Travel like the TM wiki and the other Magics might have you think, but Consumption, though it might be easier to think of it as entropy. Aoko is able to burn through even time itself in order to manipulate time. In this case she burned a hole through the last five seconds (or was it 10? i forget) in order to accelerate herself 10 years into the future (Aoko is incredibly magecraft efficient) where she exists at her prime, and then tosses the burnt time far into the future where she doesn't have to think about it.
Touko angrily says that such an irresponsible manipulation of cosmic forces will surely cause the death of the universe if not fixed, but Aoko's not the thinking sort of girl. She definitely screwed up and has to fix that now, but until Nasu writes any Mahoyo sequels we will never know exactly how badly. If you think the concept of generating enough energy to burn through time in order to manipulate it sounds very familiar to a certain 72 Demons in a Trenchcoat, then congrats, you now know where FGO got it. Without the 5th Magic and with a MUCH larger target in the beginning of time however, Goetia needed a far more elaborate ritual with a year and a half's worth of execution time.
You are right in that the Root is not a physical location. However, unless you are Kokutou where the Root is your wife, any attempt at accessing it requires land capable of sustaining whatever ritual you are planning up. This is why the Fuyuki Holy Grail War is specifically in Fuyuki, otherwise a backwater town populated by the mage equivalent of country hicks—the Tohsaka's land was rich in mana and could sustain something as intensive as the Holy Grail War. Misaki is similar, a piece of land where a high amount of leylines cross through AND not under the ownership of the Mages' Association, meaning that a mage on it could do what they pleased in complete privacy. Whatever Grandpa Aozaki did, he found both a method to access the Root and a location in Misaki that would allow him to do it, and then sealed it off (whether physically by preventing access to the location or metaphysically by deactivating the ritual is not clear), but before he did that he got his prize of the 5th Magic before getting the fuck out so that no one else could use it.
The condition for Aoko to use the 5th Magic is simply her will to do it. Ever since she was first able to cast the 5th (implied to be a traumatic event of some kind, possibly by her Grandfather bringing her to the site of the open path), she's been stalked by the Red Shadow. Whether it is the Counter Force seeing her destructive Magic as an abomination or Death itself, Aoko sees it whenever she's alone, and it makes her afraid. She refuses to use the 5th even when fighting the Flat Snark or when her throat is being torn out by Beowulf because she would rather die violently than find out what exactly that thing is. She only finds the will to cast the Fifth to save someone else she cares about (see: Illya casting the Third to save Shirou), but some quick thinking by using the time she was erasing to time travel to her prime also allowed her to fight off the Red Shadow's attack, even if she might have just doomed the universe by doing so.
An interesting thing about Mahoyo's finale is that it kind of implies Aoko and Tohno Shiki's meeting was more than just random chance now. Aoko's powers are a danger to the world, a Destroyer figure to contrast her sister, who is an architect, a dollmaker, a doctor, etc. Essentially, a Builder. That she runs into and then mentors Shiki who acts as a Death figure in Tsukihime's narrative is a bit too fitting to be a random coincidence anymore, especially now that the Tsukihime Remake moved the setting out of Misaki entirely.

the main complaint I hear about magic's game design is mana screw/flood. what if you could play a card facedown as a basic land that's types correlates to it’s color, if it’s 3 or more types it would entered tapped, every turn you make a chrome mox esque choice that adds depth to gameplay, and you could still play lands so players could transition at their own time but they would gradually transition to swapping them out for optimal gameplay.
I have friends who have designed other trading card games. Heck, I’ve designed other trading card games. Everyone who tried to fix the mana system (again, myself included) has come to the realization how important the mana system is.
It’s not a flaw in the system, it’s one of the three genius ideas Richard Garfield created when he designed Magic (what I call the Golden Trifecta). I have a whole podcast in the topic.

So you're cool
Went 6-3 on my quick draft today, and I only had one rare that I built the whole deck around and barely got to use! Naturally, my draft was ended by an infinitely-reviving mythic.
