Interesting Reminders
Always fun times when the Team Treason trolls come onto old posts to complain that not everyone ignores canon like they do.
Anyway, here’s a few reminders of canon, in case it’s been a while since you’ve watched the older MCU stuff (Phases 1 & 2):
Tony Stark was not the one selling weapons to terrorists. That was Obadiah Stane, who was so convinced that Tony wouldn’t agree that he tried to kill him multiple times. He also wasn’t a “war profiteer”. That term has an actual definition which he does not fit.
Steve Rogers has never been an officer and was actually discharged from the army as a private. “Captain America” is a stage name. Arguing over who gets to use it after Rogers died makes as much sense as arguing over who should get the nickname “the King”.
Natasha Romanoff knows less than nothing about psychology. She was also a shitty friend and an even shittier sister. (Yelena deserved better.)
Thor is actually a sexist jerk. His “support” of women ends with what they can do for him personally and not because he believes women are equal to men.
“Ultron” existed in the Mind Stone prior to the Scepter coming into the Avengers’ possession. Tony Stark & Bruce Banner never installed that existing program into anything nor did that program access the program that they wrote but couldn’t get operational.
Wanda Maximoff is a terrorist, of her own admittance. She voluntarily worked for Hydra, knowing they were Hydra, and never showed any remorse for having done so. In the MCU, she is also a white Christian, not a Jewish Roma.
The Accords were about accountability and holding superheroes to the same protocols as other martial forces potentially crossing sovereign borders, regardless of SHIELD using them as an excuse to continue their Index protocols.
What a great way to come out of a holiday celebrating violence, huh?

Diluc is the kind of lover who is protective, but moreso in a nonverbal sense. Think; when you're walking on the sidewalk he's standing closer to the road, he's keeping his hand on you in large crowds to make sure he knows you're ok, when someone he's suspicious of tries to talk to you in his presence he keeps his hand on the small of your back to let you know he's there, and he's covering the edge of the table with his hand when you bend down to pick up something beneath it. Those kinds of things.

I absolutely adore Madoka Magica, but there is one aspect in particular that did rub me the wrong way, and that was Kyuubey's reason for targeting teenage girls specifically, namely that they are "the most emotional," supposedly.
Now the Doylist reason for this is that they need to fit genre conventions; it is called the magical girl genre, after all.
However, I'd propose a potential alternative Watsonian reason for why Kyuubey targets the girls specifically, one that is not based in gender essentialism.
Basically, since the spectre of patriarchy has long plagued most of world history, being a teenage girl usually also meant having no power or agency in your life. Kyuubey, being the dispenser of Faustian bargains, can exploit this helplessness by offering a way out of that kind of situation. Thus, teenage girls are just the most vulnerable targets for Kyuubey on account of society rather than something intrinsic to being female.
So yeah, thankfully it's just one throwaway line, but that's how I resolve that gender essentialist aspect in Madoka Magica.

Personally, I love pretending all of my interests are all in one universe. Like yes, there’s two brothers and an Angel fighting monsters together while, not too far away, a friend group of kids tries to save the world from an evil dimension that’s the reverse of their world. And who are you to stop me from saying that in Maine, a very similar friend group is stopping an evil killer clown as we speak? May I add that in England theres a detective and his partner solving crimes while a Bentley races down the past the building they’re in on its way to stop the apocalypse? And don’t forget how in the past, there was a king and a warlock who helped the kings kingdom evade destruction even though magic was banned. Or how about the fact that right on over, and back to the present, in Japan there’s a group of five magical girls fighting witches to save the people of their city. Oh and don’t forget the reports of a strange telephone box back in England that appears through multiple points in history. Funny to think this is all happening in the same world and nothing can convince me it isn’t.

You ever just have media that is so psychologically damaging you end up making the characters in Stardew Valley so they can just,, chill for a bit. They need somewhere to rest and this is where they shall.
