"an ode to tendou's hands"
Tumblr media
Pairing: tendou x fem!reader Genre: fluff, slight nsfw Summary: you want to be normal about your boyfriend, but how can you when he's flaunting his hands everywhere WC: 2,138 Warnings: references to you gushing, reader’s got enough hair to stick a hand in lol, reader wears a sundress A/N: dipping my toes further and further into nsfw so that maybe someday my ass will write some full-blown nsfw for y'all -Luna
Tumblr media
When you hear people gush about their partners, they often talk about how kind they are when they bring them their favorite candy bar or buy their favorite smoothie "just because." Maybe how caring they are as they tuck them in when they're sick or detangle their hair for them in the shower. It’s always the little things that they do for them that matter the most.
The few times they bring up their appearance, it's always the common stuff. Their hair is so fluffy and smooth, maybe their eyes are piercing, yet soft only for them. You hear them describe how their arms are so built that it makes them drool. Or they—and you’re specifically talking about your friend Eri—describe their significant other’s thigh muscles with such strange detail and precision that you’re left floating in a space between understanding and deep worry.
But even their odd infatuations with their partner's features never compare to yours, because even when Eri gets going on her weird tangents about her boyfriend’s thighs and how she’d like for them to crush her skull like a watermelon, your other friends nod and laugh along. You’ve tested your answer on a crowd before and all you got was the loudest silence you’ve ever heard followed by someone too many moments later saying, “what?” They just didn’t get it.
You've always been embarrassed to share your real answer with your closest friends, not because they’d make you feel like a freak (derogatory), but because they’ll make you feel like a weirdo (affectionate). And while Eri can take the casual ribbing, you’re not so sure you have a thick enough skin to be able to last a quarter as long as she has. So you've settled with picking something a little more normal, like gushing about how, although your boyfriend Tendou is lean, he’s much stronger than he looks.
They don't have to know that the real answer has you gushing elsewhere, though.
Tendou’s hands.
Two palms. Ten fingers—two of which are thumbs. Fourteen knuckles.
They’re long. They’re slender. They reach places you can never reach with your own, like the bottom of the Pringles can.
Unlike a boyfriend’s thighs or abs, hands aren’t hidden in everyday life behind some piece of fabric. They’re constantly touching you or things around you which makes it nearly impossible to keep your focus. In previous relationships, or even in everyday life, a person’s hands didn’t catch your attention as they do now. But when you started dating Tendou, it was like a sleeper agent activated.
The first time you took notice of his hands was at the end of your second date, after he walked you home. You both lingered in front of your apartment door, not quite ready to say goodbye to one another. He decided to take a risk, using his hand to brush some hair behind your ear—although, you’re pretty sure it wasn’t out of place to begin with—then letting his fingers trail down your jaw, sending shivers down your spine. His hand then came back up to cup your cheek, and it dawned on you that, with the way his hand stretched, he could palm your whole head like a volleyball based on length alone.
Then he sealed the deal by leaning down, his lips hovering just a hair over yours, and whispering, “Do you mind if I kiss you?”
What always amazes you when you replay that moment in your mind is you hardly remember the kiss itself, but what you do remember is what it felt like to have his hand slip into your hair and grasp it at the roots in his excitement. How his other hand slid around your waist to pull you against his chest, fingers playing with the edge of your crop top and barely brushing against your bare skin. You had goosebumps from head to toe, leaving you with no choice but to lean on him to keep yourself upright. You were smitten from that day forward and would do anything to get him to touch you again like he did that day.
You're about 98% sure that Tendou has never noticed your infatuation—not once—because you're just that smooth. Like a fucking ninja. There's no other word to describe your actions besides subtle.
Except, if you asked Tendou, you're not even close. In fact, in his eyes, you're about as subtle as a gun.
Tendou lets you think you are because he enjoys seeing your poor attempts at hiding your obsession. The truth is he's noticed every single time your eyes drift from his face to his flailing hands as he tells you a story then snap back to his face once you feel like you've been distracted for too long. Or, when you decide to keep him company while he's testing new chocolate recipes and techniques in the kitchen, and, instead of ooh-ing and aah-ing as he pipes an intricate design on a truffle, you're more occupied with staring at his mouth as he licks the smeared chocolate on his fingertips.
God forbid he offers you a taste of chocolate he swipes from the edge of a bowl with his pointer finger—then he's the one who has to control himself when he notices your eyes gently flutter as you lick it off, the tip of your tongue flicking his fingertip.
He doesn't really understand it, and initially, he took your distracted gaze as disinterest. He was afraid he was boring you when he was going off on tangents or when he suggested you sit by as a taste tester in the kitchen. But he soon caught on when he noticed that your eyes weren’t glazed over in boredom and staring forward with no focus at all. He could see them following his hands like a hawk, taking in every bend, twitch, or grasp. And while he did notice them glaze over occasionally, he had a feeling it wasn’t because you were bored.
Tendou's been trying to find the right time to bring it up. He doesn't want you to think he's making fun of you or that you should be ashamed of your little fixation. Since he’s first noticed, he’s been trying to hint to you that he knows; brushing an imaginary eyelash off of your cheek, cupping your face whenever he gets the chance, trailing his fingers up your arm whenever he peers over your shoulder to look at what you're cooking.
He’s not sure if it’s working or if it's had the opposite effect, but he has been enjoying watching you squirm in the meantime.
Then it all culminates one weekend in August.
He suggests taking a trip to Barcelona after a colleague of his recommended a little chocolate shop there that he’s been dying to try. With about an 8-hour drive from where you live, you suggest you make it a little vacation, taking off that Friday and Monday to properly enjoy it all.
The trip starts off as all of your trips do. Tendou decides to drive so you play DJ, quizzing him on certain songs and annoying him with others. You feed him some snacks so he can keep an eye on the road, purposefully playing "here comes the airplane" until he bites your fingertip like an overzealous toddler.
It dies off about 2 hours into the trip after you get back in the car from a short gas station trip. You play a more relaxed playlist, filled with instrumentals and some ballads. The only chatter from both of you is when either of you comments on the view. Otherwise, it's a comfortable silence, leaning your head on the window and watching the trees and other cars fly by.
Your peace is disturbed when you feel Tendou’s hand slide onto your knee, giving what’s supposed to be a comforting squeeze, but feels more like a jolt to your system. Unintentionally, you jump in your seat, trying to play it off like you’re shifting to be more comfortable, but he notices.
“You okay, baby?” Tendou asks, with a smirk you don’t see because you can’t meet his eyes. Let’s see you try to get yourself out of this one.
“Yeah, uh, your hands were just cold.”
“Oops. My bad, honey.” He squeezes your knee again as he says it, and you can only hope he doesn’t notice that you tense up. “They’ll get warm soon enough, I’m sure.”
You shoot him a quick smile, before turning to look out the passenger window, hoping that he doesn’t notice how nervous you actually are. You’re tempted to start bouncing your leg, but you can’t risk him asking any more questions.
Eventually, you relax enough to rest your hand over his, stroking the back of his hand with your thumb. You’re so lost in thought that you don’t realize that your hand started acting on its own, tracing the veins on the back of his hand and over the pronounced knuckles of his fingers.
Tendou, of course, notices immediately. “So you like my hands, huh?”
You freeze. This isn’t how you wanted him to find out, you think as you pull your hand towards your chest like it touched an open flame. If there was ever a perfect time for the ground to suddenly open up so it can swallow you whole, this would be it. In fact, you contemplate opening the car door and tucking and rolling onto the highway just to get yourself out of this situation.
Your diabolical red-headed boyfriend glances over at you a few times during your prolonged silence, before clearing his throat and saying, “I’ve known about your… thing for ages, you know.”
Your panic shoots out of you all at once. “You knew?! When? How!? I’m so lowkey about it!”
“Well, you don’t exactly make it subtle,” he chuckles. “How else would you be able to explain why you either jump out of your skin or completely shut down whenever I touch you? Or when I can't even make eye contact with you during our conversations because you're so focused on my hands?"
"...Trauma and social awkwardness?"
Tendou shoots you an incredulous look before returning his eyes to the road. “First of all, if it was trauma, we probably would’ve talked about it during the years we’ve been together. Second, you? Socially awkward with me? You’re the one who has no problem pooping while I’m showering, so there’s no way.”
Your mouth opens and shuts repeatedly, failing to produce a good enough excuse. Instead, you turn your head far enough that you can’t see him from the corner of your eye anymore, but you sure can hear him cackle because of his effect on you.
You still refuse to make eye contact when you feel his hand trail up your thigh, barely making it to the hem of your dress before making his way back down to your knees, his fingers leaving trails of heat in its wake.
“What do you like about them, hm?” His fingers trail back up, playing with the hem of your dress and inching it higher. “Is it how long my fingers are? How gentle they are when they caress the skin of your thigh? Probably giving you goosebumps, huh?”
And they absolutely are, along with a shudder up your spine with how low his voice has dropped.
“Or maybe how talented they are, like when they curl just right?” His hand finally dips under the fabric, brushing his pinky against the edge of your panties. "Oooh, no safety shorts today? How risque! What are you preparing for, honey?"
"Nothing, I just—”, you take in a shakey breath as you feel his pinky play with the edge of the lace,”—didn't want to sweat with the extra layer."
"That's what the AC is for, honey. Are ya sure there's no other reason?"
"No. I mean, yes, or—wait. Fuck." Your head feels like it’s full of cotton, your mouth too dry to speak. Your eyes are unable to focus on anything at the moment, the leg he’s not touching restlessly bouncing. You glance over at the time displayed on your phone that’s mounted to the dashboard and calculate that you’ve got about 4 hours left before you reach your destination, and that’s when you realize that you can’t wait until you reach your hotel.
You need him. Now.
“Can you— Over there— Just—” You stumble over your words, unable to form a coherent sentence as you point frantically over to the side of the highway.
“You want me to pull over onto the shoulder?” He says smugly, not even sparing you a glance.
“God, yes, please.”
He steers the car abruptly to the right, and you’re in his lap before he can even properly put the car in park, hands all over each other.

The Fierce Deity wasn't what you expected.
Yes, he was tall, built like a tank and had a thousand mile stare that sent most running - that was pretty much expected from what like Time and Wars had told you....
But you didn't expect everything else.
Fierce was carefully soft around you, offering your a gentlemanly hand to step over large puddles or offering to carry you outright when it came to bogs and swamps - which you very much appreciated.
He also hovered about you out on the road, silvery eyes constantly scanning the area in case of an ambush - which you doubted since you were surrounded by various heroes of Hyrule who each were very much attached to you.
What made Fierce different was that you could tell he was trying to be gentle, something alien from his rugged nature as a brutal war god, and your cheeks burned at the thought of it.
"My moonlight," a smooth and deep voice interrupted your thoughts and you looked up from the tunic you were mending to see the deity himself kneeling before you, a beautiful flower in his giant hands.
You couldn't help yourself from flushing at the nickname, something the deity's eyes gleamed at, and you tried to force your flush down.
"You're so kind to me and I'm not sure what to think of it," you said, trying to stop your face from burning as he delicately tucked the beautiful flower behind your ear. "What are your intentions?"
The deity hummed, tilting his head, "I am offering myself to you, if you'll have me."
You froze, staring at the gentle giant before you.
"Or, as you say: I am shooting my shot."
You buried your face in your hands, a strange mix of a scream, cackle and wail leaving your lips.

Nico who has been deified after his death. Nico who's sure, after all this time, he's finally managed to let go of his older sister's death, of course, it still hurts, and of course, he will never forget her, but that fiery hatred and overtaking sadness, has finally been put to rest.
Nico knows and understands that his sister chose to move on without him, and that's okay, no it's never gonna be okay but he's made his peace with that too, and now, that he's an inmortal himself he never expects to see Bianca again.
Nico lives easy. He works for his father, he sleeps for a couple decades at a time, sometimes he goes back to Camp, takes care of some kids during their quests here and there, but for the most part, he's a chain-free roaming God.
And then, one day at Camp Nico meets her, a tiny little girl, with how long he has lived, time has become almost impossible for Nico to really track down anymore, but he's sure this girl can't be more than 10.
And something about her eyes, her dark, void-like eyes, and her long black hair, and her proud stance. It really reminds him of somebody else.
The girl is all alone, no little brother or older sister of her own, no parents either, apparently, she's a child of Hekate, but that really doesn't matter.
Something about the girl's every move, about the way she approaches the darkness without fear, about the way she approaches him, like she's known him all his life, the way she uses her whole body when talking.
It reminds Nico of Bianca. This girl's soul is just like Bianca's.
And Nico supposes it's no longer a fatal flaw, but he still doesn't know how to let go.
Nico immediately claims her on the spot, lets her sleep on the Hades Cabin, helps her out with everything, takes care of her for years and years.
It's the first time in centuries, that Nico as a God feels connected to his mortal side.
When the little girl cuddles against him, because she's had yet another nightmare about manticores and huge robots, while Nico quietly tries to hug her, and reassure her she's going to be fine, he even starts thinking that maybe his family has grown, yet again.
And then, she's send off on a Quest, Nico loudly protests against it, because he knows how those end.
Because, he still remembers waking up screaming and trashing, in the middle of the night, inside the Hermes Cabin, surrounded by strangers and shadows, as he felt Bianca's soul perish away.
But it's no use, the Oracle of her time had already issued her prophecy, this new girl, Rachel having long since passed away, who Nico feels almost comfortable cursing in the spot, just like his father had done so many centuries ago.
The little girl leaves, and Nico now has nobody to swear to keep her protected. Nico knows it's useless to try to convince her to stay, but he still does, it doesn't work, it never has worked
But truth is, she doesn't even look scared.
She's excited, and ready, and determined, and Nico has to wonder if this is how Bianca looked like, during her last week on Earth, too.
The girl leaves and she doesn't come back.
Nico thinks, it should be easier by now. It isn't, it's never gonna be it
Hades catches Nico roaming mindlessly around Elysium, after noticing his absence from The House, for what's either days, or years.
Hades mournfully reassures Nico that Bianca is not there anymore. No, not this time, not last time, not next time either.
After that, Nico chooses to abandon Camp fully, once again, he doesn't come back for another few centuries, until Hermes asks him for help getting his children to satefy at Camp.
Nico swallows the bile, that he's sure a Godly body like his own, shouldn't be able to produce anymore, shakes Hermes's hands, and tells his cousin his children will make it through, just fine.
Nico rescues the kids, regretfully send them off to live all cramped up together at their Father's Cabin forever, but one of the boys of the bunch, just has such dark eyes, like a black hole consuming souls.
And he stands so proud, and Nico just knows once more, and all at once, because he would recognize Bianca's soul anywhere.
In life, in death, at the end of the world, in a Hekate's daughter, in an Hermes's son, it doesn't matter, the person standing in front of him, is simply Bianca in another skin.
Bianca, being a wild hero once more, and Nico has to wonder if she can see him as clearly as he can see her.
Bianca is the only one after all, who has known him all his life, Bianca knew his name before it was even his own. Nico was born knowing her.
If she can see him, or if she can't, Nico doesn't even know which one would hurt more.
Time passes, and if Nico let's the boy sleep at the Hades Cabin, because the nightmares about manticores, giant robots, and magic are too much to bear, and he can't even scream in peace inside the Hermes Cabin, well, that's only Nico's own business to know about.
Nico realizes, after a few ages of Godhood, that The Fates like repeating their own stories.
Nico knows he hates all of them, deeply and purposefully.
The Oracle comes up to the boy, Nico is sure she must be a new girl, but all the girls Apollo chooses all look the same, and she is the same, she gives the hero the prophecy that will bury him.
And, it doesn't even take Nico a glance to know, that this is where that boy's life thread is cut.
Nico wants to sneer, this would be Bianca's third death, and if a hero dies three times they get the special prize, and yet.
Nico begs the boy to not go, because they both know he's not gonna make it back.
Bianca never has. Bianca never does. This is Bianca's fate. She was already dead before the story even began.
But the boy doesn't even break eye contact with Nico, as he tells Nico that he's very kind, and that he loves him too, but no way.
He's gonna go, and so, the boy does.
The boy leaves and he doesn't come back, and Nico has to crawl at his Godly skin, and remember the sensations, of back when there was human flesh, and blood running through his veins.
And that's just the thing isn't it, that Bianca is never going to stay by his side, because she doesn't want to.

Next idea reffering to the latest message. The reader gives them their necklace as a lucky charm and some kind of promise to come back to them right before they go on a mission/battle?
You know my favorite characters, but feel free to write for characters you like to write about.
🔪
After weeks/months/years of silence, I am back.
Thank you Knifey for believing in me when I couldn't believe in myself! I hope you will enjoy it!

„Why are you giving me this?” he was so surprised when you suddenly gave him a turquoise
The stone was in the shade of summer sky, covered with a thin web of darker veins, it was held in place by a black, leather strap
“It should give you protection, especially that I won’t be there with you”
It didn’t matter that he wasn’t the one to believe in the magical power of colourful stones, he was just happy to have a gift from you
He immediately put it around his neck, secretly happy that he will be able to have a piece of you wherever he goes
“Thank you” he would say while hugging you and leaving a gentle kiss on your temple
“Promise me you will be careful and that you will come back to me”
“I shall”
After that, he thought about what to give you in return
During his missions, he was learning about different stones and when he found out that turquoise was really supposed to give peace and protection, he felt like his heart skipped a beat
It took a long time but finally, he managed to find the perfect stone – one that you then wore to the end of the time
Shay
Tumblr media
The Morrigan was docked in the port for a week now and you were bored
As not-yet-the-official-templar you weren’t allowed to attend the meetings and all the weird shenanigans Shay had to take part in
It’s not like you cared a lot about politics but it was boring all alone
Like sure shopping and eating nice food was great after weeks at the sea but you missed your love
That day you were on the shore, enjoying the sun and the warm weather, baling barefoot on the wet sand, allowing the ocean to wash around your feet
At one point you found a clam
It had a pearl inside
And only by a total accident you also knew that Shay will have a birthday soon
It took a bit to find the right blacksmith but he agreed, after getting some additional coins, to put priority on your order
You made a sketch of what you wanted – a silver four-leaf clover with this small pearl inside
“It’s for good luck,” you said while giving him the present
The grin on his face widened
“I make my own luck”
And then he spent half of the night thanking you for a beautiful gift
Arno
Tumblr media
He doesn’t really like getting gifts
Unless a gift is a cup of coffee
Honestly giving him a gift is such a pain as he has almost everything he wants
Like seriously he grew up rich and as a Café Theatre owner he doesn’t really complain about the lack of money to spend
One day he comes back home and tells you he has a mission in Germany so he will be away for a few weeks
He also asked you to take care of the Café in his absence as he trusts you the most
It broke your heart that he will be away for so long so you desperately thought about something to make him remember his home and you
At one point you found a weird man from a land far far away who was selling some goods
Among them, there was a little Rhodochrosite. A pink crystal in a shape of an obelisk hanging on a silver threat
This man piqued your curiosity so you listen to the story of the spiritual meaning of the stone
You came back home with this necklace just to find Arno packing his clothes
You hugged him from behind, not really wanting to let him go so far away without you
“I have something for you”
“I hope it’s a cup of coffee”
“I don’t want you to go. But also, I cannot stop you so… please, have it with you. It’s a Rhodochrosite and it means compassion and love. They say it clears away emotional wounds and scars from the past. With it… you will come back to me eventually, right?”
There was a moment of silence and you thought Arno wasn’t really happy
It was until he hugged you so tightly, he almost took your breath away
“It is so much better than coffee. I swear I will come back to your Cherie”
He kept his promise
Edward
Tumblr media
The crew was preparing your ship to set sails
Right next to your there was Jackdaw, also getting ready to head toward the endless blue
While sitting on the railing you watched the blond man, your friend and lover, ready to leave for a mission that will take him god-knows-where
You were holding a coin in your hand frantically flipping it through your fingers
“Hey, Kenway!” you shouted, to catch his attention. Despite the sound of waves crashing against the shore, he heard you and immediately turned around, just in time to catch the object that flew his way
It was a golden coin with jackdaw on it and a little hole at the top, through which run a leather strap
He raised his head only to see you holding the twin coin, already on your neck
“This is a promise, Kenway. Better come back and find me after the job is done” you threaten, but actually, you were afraid that the endless ocean will be too much of a gap between you and the bond you shared would be severed
Edward put the necklace with a coin on and then sent you one of his smirks
“I will find you even at the edge of the world, Lass! And you better have the second coin prepared for me!”

Yandere Chrysalis x Reader Headcanons
Tumblr media
Possible trigger warnings for: hypnosis, kidnapping, very slightly implied NSFW, and general yandere themes (obviously)
- Chrysalis found you at one of your lowest points. There was something about you that made her feel something she had never felt before, not to this extent at least and certainly not about a pony. It wasn’t love, but pure obsession.
- She thought you were absolutely stunning, and your personality was perfect as well. There wasn’t a thing about you to dislike, except perhaps the fact that you weren’t actively serving her right then and there.
- Chrysalis wouldn’t like the fact that she’s so obsessed with you. How unbecoming of a Queen, to be obsessed to such a degree with someone who wasn’t even of royal status. But she couldn’t help it.
- She would daydream about you constantly, and all the things she wanted to do to you. It would seriously get in the way of her plotting. How is she meant to take over other kingdoms when thoughts of you kept getting in the way?
- Eventually she would have enough, and give in to these desires. She wants you, and she will have you. You will belong to her, no matter what it takes. She doesn’t care anymore what others may think of her obsession. She needs you. Now.
- Chrysalis would send some of her changelings out to find you and bring you to her. They would disguise themselves as ponies, unsuspecting by all standards. You would meet them on your way home from the store, they would claim to be hurt or lost, and you would do your best to help them - only to be lured away where nopony could see and be captured by them.
- You’d wake up unable to move, surrounded by darkness and caverns. Suddenly you can make out the dark, tall figure of someone approaching you. It’s her, Queen Chrysalis.
- Panic fills you and try to move again, and only now realize what you had previously thought to be some kind of rope was actually changeling goo. Chrysalis laughs as you struggle, thinking it’s just adorable. She gently placed a hoof against your face, stroking it gently and turning your head to look at her. You do.
- “Be still, my pet. Just relax, all that horrible fear will be gone soon,” she’d say with a smirk, before her horn lights up green and suddenly you feel a lot better.
- Now that you’ve stopped struggling, Chrysalis frees you of your binds and you stand up. But you don’t want to run. Any idea of running has left your mind, all that remains is a desire to please your Queen. Whatever she wants, that’s all you want to do.
- From then on Chrysalis would keep you by her side at all times, using you for whatever she pleases whenever she pleases. Her focus is a lot better now that you’re actually with her. She will never, ever let you go. The only time you’re apart is when she’s out trying to take over some kingdom. She’d love to have you with her then too, but you’re safer back in the hive. She wouldn’t need to tie you up while she’s gone, because after her spell, you have no desire to leave anyway.
- The idea of feeding off your love and taking it all for herself is tempting, but she likes the way you react when she touches you, and she’s worried that a loveless husk of your former self wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun of a toy as you are now, so she refrains.
- She would keep you well fed and taken care of, for the most part. She wants you to live as long as possible, after all. Preferably forever, so you could serve her for all eternity. Chrysalis may even try to find a spell that would allow you to live as long as she will, so that she’ll never have to spend a day without you.
- You’re her favorite toy. Her pet. And her slave, all in one. And you’ll never have a life outside of her ever again.

Zen Gaho | Wearing his clothes
Pairing: Zen Gaho x reader | Paradox Live CWs: fluff, domestic fluff, established relationship, gender-neutral reader, suggestive (M), jealousy, light angst, comfort, reader is smaller than Zen Word count: 1.5k Summary: Zen wakes up to you wearing his clothes.
Reader wears their clothes series: Zen - Part 1 - Part 2 (coming soon) | Satsuki (coming soon)
There were very few days in which Zen wasn’t the first one to wake up in the Suiseki clan’s household. Many of those involved him rolling in bed, palming the mattress to find the warmth you’d left, but finding no other trace of you.
He opened his eyes, looking around the dimly lit room. The stubborn morning light that couldn’t be controlled by the bamboo blinds only revealed you weren’t there. Zen yawned and rubbed his eyes, sitting up on the bed.
Before he could make it his mission to go and find you, you were back from the bathroom.
“Morning, babe,” you chirped with a wide smile on your face. However, Zen was too distracted to greet you back. His senses were paralysed the moment he saw you wearing his white shirt. He could only think of the way the piece of clothing hung from your shoulders, how it was long enough for you to use it as a dress, and how it seemed to highlight your soft skin and tender form.
“Did anyone see you?” He asked in a worried tone. You chuckled as you approached the bed. You didn’t understand the question or the way he had phrased it.
“No? I didn’t see anyone, why?” You pulled aside the covers, getting inside.
“Good.” That’s all the explanation he gave you before sliding a hand on your cheek and planting a good morning kiss on your forehead. You giggled, but before you could stretch yourself to kiss his lips, he hugged you and pulled you down with him, making you lie down on top of him.
“What’s going on?” Zen was a very affectionate person but seeing him act like that felt different from usual. It was almost as if…
“You aren’t allowed to wear my clothes outside our bedroom.” The pout and puppy voice made it impossible to not laugh at his declaration. Then, the warmth filled your mind. ‘Our bedroom’. It was only Zen’s, but you spent so much time there, that he had started to make accommodations. You nuzzled your face on his chest, basking in the feeling of being treated as special.
“Why?” You looked up to find Zen had his eyes closed.
“You don’t know how dangerous you are.” He pulled his arms tighter around you, effectively anchoring you in place. “Or how dangerous the world can be.”
“And why is everyone so dangerous this morning?”
You heard him sighing through his nose, and you knew he wasn’t going to tell you. At least, not now. Instead, he moved one of his hands to gently play with your hair.
“Are you trying to make me fall asleep again?” You weren’t complaining – his fingers felt delicious massaging your scalp – but you also knew Zen’s routine. “Shouldn’t we be getting up and getting ready—” Before you could finish your sentence, the hand Zen had around your back trailed down to the thigh you had on top of him.
“Everyone knows you’re here.” He caressed the back of your thigh, kneading slightly. His movements were gentle and slow, but deliberate. “And you’re only wearing your underwear,” he whispered to himself, opening his eyes in frustration. “Didn’t you bring a pair of pyjamas the other day?”
“Yes?”
“Why aren’t you wearing them?”
You hesitated, unsure of what was going on, but sure that the conversation was getting heated for some reason.
“Are you angry at me?”
Zen closed his eyes, and you saw his nostrils flaring. When he opened his eyes again, he had a gentle smile to show you.
“Sorry. I—” he chuckled slightly, embarrassed. “I got jealous and scared.” You felt him give your thigh a soft squeeze.
“Of what?”
The smile widened like he couldn’t contain whatever your perplexity was producing inside of him. His arms circled back around your back, and he pulled you tightly against him like he needed to confirm you were there, and you weren’t going anywhere.
“You’re not going to like it.” His chest rose and fell as he spoke, and his grip on your frame relaxed, setting you free to adjust and dig your chin on him so you could look at his face again.
“I’ll be the one to judge that. I still want to know.” When you felt his smile falter, you felt your heart flutter painfully. Was it so bad? You trusted Zen and knew him deeply. Was there something he had never confessed?
“I am…so disgustingly scared that someone will see you and snatch you away from me.” He squeezed you in his arms. “Not that I think you wouldn’t be loyal!” He quickly added, seeing the way your gaze was swimming in sadness. “I know you love me, I feel it, and I hope you know and feel my love for you. It’s just… You are way more attractive than you think you are. And that scares me. You don’t know your power. But you also don’t know how other men react to you.” He lowered his gaze, his voice trailing down to a whisper. “Sometimes I think I must be the luckiest man alive, for having found you first, before anyone realised your beauty – outside and inside.”
The tears fell from your eyes onto Zen’s bare chest, and his embrace loosened. You heard his gasp and felt the way his body buzzed with worry.
“Sorry, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to—” his voice softened even more, making it difficult to hear him through the overwhelming emotion.
“Zen,” you sobbed, not wanting to make a scene, but not knowing what else to do. “I love you.” Those were the only words that came out, and maybe they were the only ones that accurately represented the mess that was moving inside of your heart.
“Oh, baby,” he muttered, holding you gently and pulling you closer to his face. He managed to rest your head on his shoulder, touching his head to yours. “I love you, too, so much.” He took one of your hands and placed it on top of his beating heart. The gesture stripped your throat of a new set of sobs. “Those are… happy tears, I hope?” He asked with a breathy voice. You nodded and freed your arms from under your body and from his gentle hold, linking them around his neck.
You stayed in that position for a while, Zen drawing abstract forms on your back with his fingertips. When you calmed down and it felt like a regular cuddling session, he spoke again.
“On a lighter note, I think I need to say,” he removed some hairs from your face, “you look too sexy in my clothes.”
You laughed and he felt the vibrations on his torso. Then, your eyes met and you moved to trace his lips with your finger. He kissed the tip and pretended to bite it, while you felt his hands roaming from your back to your bottom.
The familiar warmth of desire trickled through your bodies, and you moved slightly on top of him, accommodating to be able to kiss him.
Suddenly, a few sharp knocks made you jump and frantically pull away from each other.
“Zen, I regret to be the one to have to retrieve you from your lovers’ nest, but we had this meeting today, remember?”
Zen cursed under his breath.
“Waka, just give me a minute—”
“I’ll give you ten, ‘s best to make sure to leave satisfied, yeah?” The sound of his wooden sandals echoed away with a loud chuckle.
You looked at Zen as he quickly picked up his overalls and began pulling them up. As he zipped them and buckled his belt, you noticed the bulge his underwear was barely able to contain couldn’t be successfully hidden with the new layer of fabric either.
“Like what you see?” He teased lovingly when he caught your gaze. You looked away instinctively, but then you thought maybe he needed the shirt you were wearing.
Before you could take it off, he caught your hands, kissing them.
“Keep it.” He squeezed your hands before letting go. “Maybe just… don’t go outside only wearing that?” He took his black tank top from his wardrobe.
Once he was wearing it, you approached him, and you melted in a slow, sensual kiss. He pulled your body closer to his, and you felt his hardness against your waist.
“We still have some time…” you suggested, pressing against him. He chuckled shyly and proceeded to pepper your face with pecks.
“I’ll think about something else, and it’ll go away.” He lowered his head to rub your noses together. “Besides, we’ll have something to look forward to later, then…”
He winked and pulled on your clothes, teasing.
“I love you,” he kissed you goodbye, leaving you a bittersweet feeling and the throbbing anticipation of something more.
“I love you, Zen.”

A/N: It’s been so long since I last wrote fanfiction, plus it’s the first time I've written Zen, and idk if this feels OOC or if it’s just me :/ but then again, it’s just my headcanon.
Hope you enjoyed! Interactions are highly appreciated <3

In order to reconcile ties between the Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom, and Water Tribes at the end of the Hundred Year War, a treaty has been reached to mix bloodlines throughout the nations to discourage war, colonization, and invasion. Prince Zuko has been selected to be sent to the Southern Water Tribe, the world's strongest nation, to marry the tribe's heir, Princess Katara, and bring forth children of the two nations' lineages. Because of the Fire Nation's surrender and aggression, Prince Zuko is sent in full subservience to the Water Tribe and the couple must struggle to find their place after the war and together as a family. However, not all things from the war are healed, despite the treaty, and navigating those things proves a challenge for the Katara, Zuko, and all those involved in the International Bloodline Peace Treaty.

Rain pours down from the dark sky, starting to dampen the figure leaning against a tree in the forest. The figure lets out a sigh and pushes off the tree, starting to walk back to the Military base housed next to the tranquil forest, the moonlight shines on them and the wet ground.
The figure is Alpha. Well, that's what he's called, nobody knows his real name. He's one of the taller soldiers standing at 6ft tall, with dark brown hair and matching dark brown eyes. He also wears a mask that leaves the bottom half of his face covered, with a nasty scar running from above his left eyebrow down past his eye and underneath the mask. Nobody has seen his face. Nobody knows what he looks like underneath his mask. A handful of soldiers have also noted that he always wears long sleeves, even in warmer weather. But they never dare ask the man "why", as he just wants to be left alone.
A few ballsy rookies interrupted his peace once. They kept pushing the soldier, touching and poking him, asking him questions and getting into his space, until he snapped. Everyone had heard of the incident and there's not much more you need to know. Just keep in mind that if you disturb him enough, he might pull his knife on you.

Daddy was playing with me, guiding me like he does.
I got so close to the edge, it felt so good.
“Stop touching.”
Huh?
“Hands off.”
Electricity shot down my spine to the point I didn’t feel the pain of the charlie horse.
He told me I was done touching tonight.
Heaven, meet hell. I think you two will really hit it off.

“creep(er) into my heart”
Tumblr media
Pairing: kenma x gn!reader Genre: fluff, friends to lovers Summary: two gamers walk into a fancy restaurant and it goes as well as you’d think. WC: 4,220 Warnings: N/A A/N: This is part 2 of “would you be mine(craft)?” with an even cornier title. You can probably read this without reading the first, but maybe read it for context? (also, i joke that applebee’s sucks but their “bourbon street chicken and shrimp” lives rent free in my head everyday) -Luna
Tumblr media
Dates are meant to be anxiety-inducing, whether it’s a stomach full of butterflies or ruthless tornadoes.
So, it’s an odd feeling to be so calm and collected during the days leading up to a big date, especially one with Kenma. You assume it’s because the stakes are so low, knowing that if the spark isn’t there, you’ll still see him on Minecraft, probably that same night, to help with his iron golem farming idea like nothing ever happened.
What’s even weirder is that both of you have continued to not discuss the date at all since he asked you the weekend before. You don’t know if it’s because it’ll be awkward to break the ice of the discussion or if he’s procrastinating figuring out the plans for that night, but you both continue to play games and watch anime together during the week without even grazing the topic.
If it wasn't for the Google Calendar invite reminding you 48 hours before Saturday that your date was in fact coming up, you would still believe that him asking you out was something you happened to imagine during your post-date funk.
Thankfully, come Thursday evening, not long after you get the notification, he sends you a text letting you know that he’ll be taking you to a restaurant in the city. It’s one you’ve passed several times before, which is how you know, without having to check their Instagram tags, that it’s a semi-formal, if not fully formal, dress code and dining experience. It’s an abnormal choice for Kenma to willingly select a place where he’d have to wear anything that buttons, let alone a full suit, so you have to imagine that the place must have glowing reviews for him to settle on it.
Now all you have to do is find a whole entire formal outfit with only two days’ notice and minimal time after work to shop. No biggie.
But you manage to do it in time—although barely since you had to rally together the group chat to help—and by the time Saturday comes, you’re actually feeling a bit of nerves start to pool in your stomach as you’re getting ready for the night. Although it all dissipates when you get a series of texts from Kenma, minutes apart, realizing that he may be experiencing the same kind of jitters that you’re feeling.
‘I dont know how to tie a fucking tie, time to cancel the date’ ‘This is harder than finishing Dark Souls’ ‘I got it, but Kuroo made fun of me and is a terrible teacher and now my feelings are hurt’
You zoom through getting ready, and with about 30-ish minutes until your 7PM reservation, the 25-minute Uber ride leaves you with just enough time to be early. And you’re given quite the shock when you step out of the car and you already see Kenma in front of the restaurant, head hung low as he scrolls through his phone. As you get closer, you notice he cleans up nicely in his smart black suit with his hair pulled back into a bun except for a few face-framing pieces. You make sure to call his name to get his attention, his head snapping up when he hears your voice.
“Wooow, look at you, Mr. Snazzy,” you comment, reaching up to straighten his tie. “I’ve never seen you so gussied up before. Must be quite the date for you to dust off your one and only suit.”
“I have a second suit,” he says defensively. “It’s gray because Kuroo says that’s a better color to wear for the daytime.”
“When did Kuroo become your fashion stylist?”
“When my publicist politely said that I looked like a scrub in all my other clothes during meetings.”
“...She never said anything about your hair, though?”
Kenma glares at you, definitely offended by the implication that his excessively grown out roots are unprofessional, to which you offer a small smile, hoping that he knows you meant it with love.
“Let’s just go inside before I get insulted again tonight.”
He pulls the door open for you—like the gentleman that he pretends to be—and steps up to greet the host before you can say anything.
“Hello, I have a reservation for 7PM. Kozume.”
Normally, you’d joke about him finally being able to speak to a server by himself, seeing as he still has to hype himself up sometimes before asking for extra ketchup when you’re eating out. You remember there being a time when he ordered marinara sauce with his cheesy bread from Domino’s and when it wasn’t included, he was fully prepared to leave and eat his bread dry to avoid talking to anyone. You ended up having to take the receipt up to the cashier and fixing the mistake so you didn’t have to see him somberly eating his sauceless bread.
The jokes slip your mind, however, as you take in the decor of the place. A few chandeliers hang from the high ceiling, sparkling under the low light from the sconces on the wall. Each table is decorated with a crisp white tablecloth and set with dark green trimmed plates, long-stem wine glasses, and folded cloth napkins around a simple floral centerpiece.
You’re observing the attire of the guests, feeling a bit underdressed, but also overdressed considering how effortless and chic most of the outfits are. The meals they’re eating look especially small, probably only a few bites on the giant plates. It’s a place definitely out of your comfort zone, one that you’d think would be nice to attend, but probably never would because it’s so bougie and you’d feel out of place.
Kenma’s hand on your lower back startles you out of your thoughts, and suddenly, you’re being guided toward the middle of the restaurant, a server in front of you to lead the way.
The server pulls out your chairs, providing menus and telling you that he’ll be back when you’re ready to order. Polite smiles and thanks are given as you settle in, draping your coats over the backs of your chairs and picking up the menus.
If you thought you felt out of place when you walked in, you’re definitely feeling it now. You scan the menu, trying not to look too stressed when you see the prices and can’t recognize or even read the foreign names of certain dishes, but from what you can read, nothing is sparking joy. You’re trying to get a read on Kenma, glancing up to see if he’s also having trouble picking something from the menu or if he’s confident about what to order, but his stoic face gives nothing away.
In an attempt to put out some feelers, you clear your throat before saying, “I’m not really sure what to pick. How about you? See anything you like?”
“I’m still looking, but nothing so far,” he responds, trailing off at the end as he watches a server bring some morsels of food plated on a bowl of rocks to the table next to you. It’s only then that can catch his eye and in them, you’re seeing the same feeling of bewilderment and unease from being in this setting. But it’s gone in a second, back to his normal flat expression.
But you definitely saw it, so now that you know the feeling’s mutual, you feel less bad about feeling it yourself. You let a few moments pass, with the menu held in front of your face, high enough that only your eyes peek out from over the top before you let out a suggestion.
“....You know we passed by a Domino’s on the way here, and now all I can think about are their wings.”
Kenma nearly slams the menu onto the table, eyes wide and ravenous for some food. “I want some of their cheesy bread so bad.”
“Wanna make a run for it?” You’re trying to be low-key when looking around for anyone that could be watching, gently setting the menu down and grabbing the collar of your coat, looking back to Kenma for confirmation. He’s already shoved one arm into the sleeve of his blazer and is scooting back his chair to stand, making sure to give you a nod so you know that it’s go time.
You’re not as graceful as Kenma is in your escape, nearly spilling someone’s drink while putting on your coat on the way out. You pick up your pace, ignoring Kenma’s glance and snickers. He reaches the door first, holding it open for you while you finally get your coat on. There’s a beat while you stand there before you both burst into giggles, nearly keeling over with laughter and tears in your eyes.
Finally, standing up straight after a few minutes, you gesture behind you. “Ready to go get a gourmet meal?”
With an excited nod from Kenma, you walk side by side down the streets. You use the time to clown him for not knowing how to tie a tie, even suggesting that you’ll gift him a clip-on for future uses so he doesn’t hurt his little gamer hands trying to tie a knot.
To which he responds with, “And I’ll light your Minecraft house on fire using my little gamer hands if you don’t shut up.”
Suddenly, you’re silent.
The Domino’s is a bit farther than it seemed while in the car, but eventually, you see the glowing blue and red symbol high up on the square building, rushing ahead to rip open the door so you can quickly usher Kenma inside and order as soon as possible.
Too much money later, you’re skipping out of Domino’s, wings and cheesy bread secured along with other impromptu boxes of goodies to take home. You’re both waiting at the corner while you pull open the Google Maps app to figure out the best place to catch a cab when you notice a spot nearby that piques your interest.
“Did you know there’s an arcade around the corner?!” you nearly scream, shoving your phone in his face to show him Google Maps.
“No, I didn’t know that,” he says, moving your phone at least a few inches away from his face. “Want to go there?”
“Won’t our food get cold though?”
“That’s what microwaves are for. Duh,” he jokes, grabbing your hand to guide you down the block to the illuminated storefront. You run in like children, making a beeline to the token machine. You begin reaching for your wallet when Kenma lets go of your hand, shoving your wallet away and aggressively pulling out money from his own.
You stare down at your palm in the meantime, feeling little tingles spread throughout it, flexing your fingers and no doubt looking like a weirdo.
Kenma has done his fair share of dragging you away from places, usually when you're glued to the glass window of a store that has anime knick-knacks you want but have absolutely no damn space for, but usually he just grabs your elbow or wrist. You could be overthinking it, but he must've grabbed your hand on purpose. Or you're just that desperate for physical affection.
He shoves a handful of tokens into your open palm, putting his own into his pockets. The arcade suddenly feels so overwhelming, with lights and noises all around you. Should you try the crane games first? Or maybe some skee-ball? You could probably dominate him in that…
“Want to start with some air hockey?” Kenma suggests, pointing over to a free table in the corner.
Yes. Air hockey. An easy win start. “Oh hell yeah, let’s do that.”
You shouldn’t have been so confident. It’s not turning out in your favor, not in the slightest, and you should’ve guessed that, going up against a guy who was the brain of his volleyball team. In your defense, you did win the first game, rubbing it in Kenma’s face and doing a dance like a sore winner. Then he absolutely demolished you for the next three rounds and had the gall to be humble about it like he didn’t just embarrass you in front of the many elementary school kids around you.
You would’ve kept going, being stubborn as hell and telling Kenma, “Best 5 out of 6?” until you got into double digits. But suddenly he has to “go use the bathroom,” which sounds like an excuse to you.
“I’ll be right back. Don’t go too far,” he warns you.
And, to be fair, you don’t go too far. You only walk about twenty feet away to the anime crane game that’s hiding behind a row of other crane games that would be blocking Kenma’s view to you if he comes back the same way he left. He has a phone that he could use to text you if he really can’t find you.
It’ll be fiiiine, you think as you slide in a token and get ready to win the anime figure.
The time passes quickly, not that you notice it. All you know is that you’ve gone through maybe half of your tokens while trying to get the figure to fall between the two bars, only asking the staff to help you reposition once because you managed to mess it up that bad.
It’s funny to think that you were more worried about sticking out like a sore thumb at the fancy restaurant than you are now at the arcade, surrounded by people of all ages in sneakers and jeans while you stand there at the claw machine in dress clothes with your nose nearly against the glass. Maybe they’ll think you’re an important business person coming by to decompress after a very long, busy day at work.
Then you squawk when you finally score the prize after only several more dollars worth of coins, and the facade promptly sails out the window.
It’s only after you have the box in your arms that you decide to check the time, realizing you’ve spent at least ten minutes straight playing. What’s weirder is that Kenma still hasn’t returned yet, and you have no messages or missed calls from him asking where you’re at, which means he's either still in the bathroom–and if that’s the case, you’re deeply worried for his bowels–or he got distracted on his way back from it.
You’re almost at the bathrooms when you see Kenma walking towards you from the corner of your eye, definitely not coming from the bathroom as you’d expect.
“Where were you? I thought you said you had to go to the bathroom.” You notice he’s holding an overstuffed plastic bag. “What did you get? When the hell did you even have time? Or are you just that lucky?”
“Oh. This is, uh..” Suddenly, he’s sheepish, opening the plastic bag where you can see something fuzzy and pink in it. “I didn’t actually need to go to the bathroom. I saw a Kirby plush in a crane machine when we walked in and knew I had to get it for you.”
Before you could even say anything, he’s pulling out the plush and you notice it’s not just a regular Kirby, but one with a chef hat and pan. You make grabby hands at it until he hands it over, trying to hold it just with one hand and squishing it against your chest and face.
“I love him so much! Thank you, Kenma.”
Like a lot of things tonight, it’s different from your normal friendly interactions. Instead of your usual hugs where you go in at a diagonal or the lazier times when it’s just a side hug, your arms are now wrapped around his neck with his around your waist. It feels weird. A good weird. Like you’re feeling the subtle change from friendship to something a little more. It’s hard not to get your hopes up because although you’ve told yourself that you’ll be good with being ‘just friends,’ throughout the night, you find yourself quite hopeful for the chance to explore something romantic with Kenma.
You part slowly, him shoving Kirby back into the bag and insisting on holding it for you after you reach for it, which you suppose you could allow since he’s been such a gentleman tonight.
“Great minds think alike because I got you a gift, too,” you announce, handing over the box you worked so hard for. “I don’t remember her name, but I know you have a few that look like her in your room, so what’s one more to add to your waifu collection.”
“Thanks for the gift, and also, for saying that so loud. I’m sure the whole arcade liked hearing about how much of a weeb I am.” He gives you a smile, somehow managing to stuff the box into the already full bag. “Want to spend the rest of our tokens then head to mine? I only have a few more.”
You pull your sad six out of your pocket. “Yeah, me too. That crane game wasn’t kind to me.”
You have a blast with the remaining tokens, staying away from crane games and sticking more to the classics. You learn that Kenma’s strategic thinking in volleyball does not translate over to basketball when you watch him miss every single basket of the game except for his last one in which he threw the ball against the back wall in frustration and landed right in the net.
Even when ordering the Uber minutes later, he still has a frown etched on his face from losing, and as much as you want to rub it in his face that now he’s feeling like you were after air hockey, you leave him to sit in his feelings.
It’s a silent ride, at least on the outside. Internally, you’re an anxious, overthinking mess with your inner thoughts going a mile a minute. You spend the whole ride back to his place wondering if it’d be too forward of you to hold his hand that’s sitting on the seat between you two. It’s not like he didn’t hold your hand earlier tonight, even if it was only to drag you toward the arcade. Once you finally convince yourself that it’d be okay to try, the ride is over and his hand slips away to open the car door and you sigh as you lose your chance to be brave.
When you’re home, Kenma’s tie and shirt undone and your dress shoes thrown haphazardly by the door, you finally get to discuss your thoughts on the restaurant. About how stuffy it felt in your formal clothes and how ridiculous the plating looked for the meals because you didn’t know what they’d even be able to taste with a portion size that small. Kenma even thanks you for breaking the ice by bringing up Domino’s because if you never did it “you’d still be in that restaurant having your 12th course of the meal.”
You swallow your bite and take a quick sip of your drink. “Why did you even choose that restaurant in the first place? Doesn’t feel like a place you’d be at.”
Kenma shrugs, brushing off the crumbs from his hands. “I don’t know… I guess I didn’t want our first date to be just like any other night we’d had. I wanted it to stand out from the rest so you can know that I’m serious about you.”
Your heart just about bursts hearing his gentle voice say that. “That’s… So sweet. I don’t know what to say to that besides thank you. Never knew you could be so charming.”
“Don’t expect it too often,” he jokes, to which you respond with an elbow to his ribs. “I know today didn’t go as expected, so maybe we can try again with a different restaurant.”
“Maybe—and this is me just spitballing here—we should work our way up to the formal dress restaurants by starting with something simple like… Applebee’s.”
“I feel like Applebee’s is somehow a worse starting point than a place like McDonald’s.”
“Fiiiine. Since you have so much to say, then you pick where we’re eating for our next date. Just make sure I can get away with wearing sneakers and jeans, is all I’m saying.”
“Who said we were actually going on a second date? I don’t know if I want to date someone who eats wings like a toddler.” He reaches over with a napkin to wipe the corners of your mouth which you begrudgingly allow.
“Well, I don’t know if I want to date someone who waits until 48 fucking hours before the date to tell me that I have to put together a whole formal outfit for a restaurant.” Kenma looks away abruptly, but not before you see his shameless smirk. “Why the hell did you even take so long?”
“I had to use some connections to get a reservation there within the week, and they didn’t get back to me until Thursday, so you knew when I knew!”
“Hm… okay. I’ll let that one slide then. For now.”
“So, I can get a second date?”
“If you insist.”
Kenma puts what’s left of your food in his fridge with the promise of leftovers tomorrow. You help him tidy up a bit, taking your sweet time because it’s finally dawned on you that the date will be ending soon. You’re hit with a wave of disappointment, realizing just how much you enjoyed his company all day. And maybe it’s silly, but you don’t want it to end just yet.
When you’ve thrown away the last napkin, you slide in next to him in the kitchen, bumping shoulders with him before hooking your arm with his. “Wanna finish watching that anime you showed me? The one with the long title?”
He lets out an amused chuckle. “Glad you enjoyed it so much that you remember the name, but sure.”
He lets you guide him to the couch by his arm, plopping yourselves down on it while he grabs his remote to pick the show from his ‘continue watching’ section.
Halfway through the episode, you scooch even closer to Kenma so you can lean on him, your head gently resting on his shoulder to test the waters. He lifts his arm up to grasp you tighter, fingers trailing up and down your upper arm without looking away from the screen. You peer up at him to see a little smile on his face—hoping it’s because of your current position and not because of the atrocities happening on the screen. You’re rarely this close to Kenma. The closest you get to him on the daily is him leaning over you to fix some computer issues or you peering over his shoulder to watch him play on his Switch.
You’ve never paid attention to his warm amber scent mixed with something floral, probably from his conditioner he told you he overpaid for because he thought it was on sale. How plush his hoodie is and how you’re definitely going to be “borrowing” it as a partner tax in the future. Or how the ends of his hair that’s tickling your face are really soft, no doubt because of that expensive conditioner, and you fight the urge to play with a few pieces. You could get used to being with him if this is what you’d be getting every day.
You manage to last another episode and a half before his soft touch lulls you to sleep, a smile mirroring his on your face.
You have a funny dream that night; you and Kenma are at an Applebee’s, both dressed in your grubbiest hoodies and sweats, while the subpar food sits untouched in front of you. He’s holding one of your hands on the table, stroking his thumb back and forth on the back of yours, the other hand keeping his head propped. You’re telling a story, laughing and waving your free hand around as you delve deep into it. To everybody else, you’re sure Kenma looks bored out of his mind, probably waiting for you to stop talking or at least get to the good part. But you know him better than that.
You can see the affection in his eyes as he doesn’t break eye contact with you, humming in acknowledgment wherever necessary so you know he’s actually listening. He’s squeezing your hand every now and again just because he can. His phone is face down on the far end of the table, most likely on ‘Do Not Disturb’ because you don’t hear a single vibration against the table.
You’ve got his complete and undivided attention until he decides to get off his seat to lean over the table. You quiet down immediately, unsure of what the hell he’s going to do until he tilts his head and gently kisses you on your lips, lasting only a second before promptly sitting down and telling you to continue your story as if nothing happened.
Non-dream Kenma would never do something so bold in public. At least, you don’t think so.
But, goddammit, even if it means writing a script and playing director, you’re going to try your fucking hardest to make sure it happens exactly like your dream during your second date.

Protecting you (from creeps)
@xynnia @cloudninetonine have some Wild content LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO
TW: character death (nothing graphic and no major characters), language
Tumblr media
Heading across the Gerudo desert was always a nightmare; the heat made you sweaty and your layers stuck to you, and so thirsty. It was bad enough that you couldn’t ride a horse across from the stables, and you didn’t want to try your luck navigating the sands with a Sand-Seal, no matter how many times Link offered for you to ride with him.
The elixirs were great in this heat, so climbing the mountains in the Hebra region and catching cold darners there so you didn’t boil alive in this heat, almost made the frigid adventure bearable. Now though, you were wearing the vai set you’d bought the first time you braved the scorching desert to the city, and honestly, the breeze was the best thing you’d ever felt – who needed elixirs anymore?
Plus, it was adorable to see Link dress in a matching set to you – he looked so precious, not that you’d ever say that to him, though!
Materialising from teleportation was never fun, and you stumbled off the Daqo Chisay shrine, Link being there to catch you quickly, and you smiled in thanks. You doubted you could get used to that strange swooping feeling in your stomach after warping.
Link led you to Frelly’s stand, turning to you again, “Are you sure you don’t want to come too?”
You rolled your eyes, “I’m sure I don’t want to come with you to fight the Molduga. You know I’ll just hide out until you’re done, and I am not riding a Sand Seal across the desert.”
Link opened his mouth to say something when a voice cut across:
“Hi, the name’s Bozai. I’m 35, single, and I LOVE jogging. Especially on sand.”
You turned to see a dark-haired man standing there, slightly out of breath, as if he had been exercising for a while and Link stilled, staring the man down with a strange expression.
The man, Bozai apparently, continued, turning to Link this time: “Don’t tell me you’re going to force this delicate cutie here to cling on to a Sand-Seal-”
What the fuck was this guy on? You glanced at Link to see an icy look in the blond’s eyes before you cut the man off.
“Let me stop you right there, buddy.” You held up a palm to stop him from continuing, “No one forces me into anything, least of all Link. And secondly, I’m not interested.”
“But I-”
“Do you seriously hang out around Gerudo town waiting for unsuspecting people to come out so you can harass them?” you folded your arms, looking him over with an unimpressed look on your face, “Is that what we’re doing these days?”
Bozai seemed to wilt, but you couldn’t care less about a creepy dude scraping at the bottom of the barrel to interact with you; you had better things to do. Link seemed to have just changed into the vai set, and you grabbed his hand and marched into Gerudo town via the side entrance, not stopping until you were sufficiently out of range from creepy guys before finally releasing the swordsman.
“That guy was literally the worst,” you huffed, taking a seat on a step, and Link knelt in front of you, clasping your shoulders tightly with calloused hands.
“I’m sorry I didn’t warn you about him. That shouldn’t have happened.”
You smiled at Link and squeezed his shoulder, “It wasn’t your fault, and I won’t have you blaming yourself. It was his fault for being an asshole.”
“But-”
“Shush!” you cut across, standing up and dusting yourself off. “Now, I’m going to check into Hotel Oasis while you go fight the Molduga.”
A strange look swam in his ocean-blue gaze before Link nodded and guided you to the establishment.
.
That wretch Bozai was camped outside of Gerudo town by the time evening fell and you had finally fallen asleep, and Link’s hands instinctively went to the Master Sword, but he couldn’t eviscerate the worthless bug just yet, especially not in front of the guards, just in case they didn’t let him back into the town.
Link had hoped that the hapless fool had taken the hint when he had finessed the Sand boots and Snow boots from him and left the area for good, but it was clear that rejection hadn’t stopped him at all, as he had been wearing a fresh pair of boots and was still here.
The Champion wasn’t about to let that worthless, insignificant, pitiful excuse of a man trouble you any further. How dare he presume that Link would force you into riding a Sand Seal when you didn’t want to. As if Link could stand to see a frown on your shining face. As if Link’s heart could bear seeing you unhappy.
The icy rage that shrouded his heart was justified as the pathetic creature dared to flirt with you as if you didn’t deserve all the comforts in the land, all jewellery that could only attempt to match your brilliance, and every piece of the heavens that Link could get his hands on. What could Bozai offer you? Nothing apart from misery and a life half-lived while wishing for something better.
However, it did give Link great pleasure to see feisty, brilliant, spirited you snap back and see the worm flinch back at your response. Link knew you could handle yourself perfectly fine, but some part of him wanted to decapitate Bozai then and there, but he refrained himself – he couldn’t sully your marvellous beauty with the blood of a maggot.
Bozai needed to be dealt with. Immediately.
While you had chattered to him and meandered around the town with him following close behind like a shadow, Link was only partly listening to you. Link’s mind had been consumed with thoughts on how best to deal with Bozai and how to make it hurt for daring to speak to what wasn’t his.
Plans ranged from gutting him with the Master Sword, sneakily taking him out with a shock arrow from afar with a long bow, framing him for a crime, and letting the guards deal with the man.
But then it hit him.
He could lure Bozai out of town to the nearest monster camp and let nature take its will – there had been a blood moon recently, and as well as Zelda’s warning, monsters that had now been resurrected were prowling the land once again in search of blood.
The nearby camp of bokoblins, electric lizalfos and chuchus would do nicely. Plus, there were always stalfos roaming around and lone electric lizalfos prowling in search of their next victims.
That was the best plan, and after kissing your forehead gently and tucking you in after you had fallen asleep, Link left Gerudo town to look for the worthless worm.
Spotting him taking a break under a tent, Link nonchalantly made his way over, for once in his life, hoping that Bozai was still romantically interested in his vai-presenting form. By the way, Bozai brightened up, it seemed so, and Link grimaced behind his veil as Bozai bounded up to him.
“It’s you! I saw you earlier with your friend; I’m sorry I didn’t say hello!”
Link twitched slightly, internally apologising to you for what he was about to say, “My friend is feisty. I’m sorry about them being snippy.”
“Oh, don’t worry about it, you hungry little boot monster, you!” Bozai laughed, “though, if you really want to make it up to me, we could-”
Link just wanted to be back with you and away from this mindless idiot’s prattling, so he cut across, “Follow me.”
“Oh, Ho! I like a woman who can take charge, lead the way, beautiful!”
Link clenched and unclenched his fists, stiffly walking away and deeper into the desert, moving away from civilisation and towards the monster camp on the way to Kara Kara Bazaar.
It would be easy to make the excuse that Link had been going to the bazaar, and Bozai was going the same way, only for him to tragically die from being ambushed by monsters… It was perfect.
All Link had to do was bear his irritating presence, but the swordsman steeled himself by thinking of your lovely face, your charming personality, the adorable sleepy smile you gave when you woke up and were well-rested, the way your hair glinted in the sun-
“Where are we going?”
Link glanced back to the man, raising a finger to his lips, and Bozai wisely stopped talking, speeding up to fall into step alongside Link, almost making him twitch violently. The space next to him was reserved solely for you, and the insect should count himself lucky that Link hadn’t struck him down with the full might of the Master Sword yet.
Soon enough, the monster camp was a few metres away, and Link meandered close enough to alert the still awake chuchu, which warbled, waking the others up, and began rolling towards him.
The monsters swarmed the two of them, and Link couldn’t help but grin behind his veil as the wretch flailed and panicked, trying to dodge the attacks of the lizalfos and chuchu while he fended off the attacks with a shield.
You needed someone who could protect you from monsters and keep you safe, not someone who flailed and panicked and practically hid behind Link when monsters attacked. Honestly, Link was doing Bozai a favour here; he doubted any woman would stay with a man who couldn’t protect them.
Link stepped back when the electric lizalfos charged its attack before gleefully unleashing a torrent of electricity that fried the man to a crisp.
The screams as he died were beautiful, but all Link could think of was getting back to you.
After sufficiently covering up his tracks, he warped back to the desert town and made his way to you. You were still fast asleep and nuzzled his hand as he stroked your cheek gently.
Goddesses, he’d do anything to keep you with him...
Anything.

Concept, that during the months where Percy went missing, and the whole Camp was searching for him 24/7, Nico just sorta developed this habit of waiting around Percy's door.
Nico is not really used to spending time in Camp, he doesn't really spend time at Camp at all, and sure, he could go with Dyonisus, or Hestia, but he doesn't wanna bother.
Nico knows, they can tell Percy's dissapearing has really started to affect him.
And sure, he's got his own Cabin now, and he used to be so excited about that, but he's found out, he doesn't really like spending time there, to spend time alone with ghosts and bones, he could just go back home.
But still, Nico doesn't want to leave.
Because, what if they manage to find Percy, or he contacts them somehow, or some other threath comes near Camp, and maybe, just maybe, Nico still has this little hope, that the next morning the doors to the Poseidon Cabin will just suddenly open up on their own, and Percy will come out of them, yawning, with his hair all messy, asking for breakfast.
He knows that doesn't happen, and will never happen, but sometimes, Nico allows himself to dream.
And, Nico knows he could actually just enter the Cabin, it wouldn't even be trespassing, not really, either way, it was Percy who first asked him to stay there with him, who first begged him to stay there, before dissapearing.
But, Nico had said no back then.
And, regardless of whether Percy is there or not, it doesn't really matter, his essence of sea salt is everywhere.
Everything on his Cabin is so quintessentially him, and Nico knows, he knows he could never get too close, he could never allow himself that much indulgence, because otherwise, his bones and blood might just boil, and there will be no more coming back from there.
Nico knows he could get lost on Percy Jackson, and if he does, there will be nothing left to salvage of him, afterwards.
So Nico must tread lightly, stand right in front of the ocean, without ever walking in.
Which, to him, translates into appearing from one of his long travels to Camp Jupiter, jumping out of a shadow, and just sitting down, right in front of Percy's Cabin door.
Nico only allows his back to hit against it, he sleeps with his head between his hands, on top of the blue marble, and that's it.
That's as close to Percy as Nico will ever allow himself to get.
And on the other hand, there's Annabeth.
Annabeth, who's dying of worry, who's hair is greying once more because of it, who feels like everything in the world is her responsibility, and Annabeth, who for the love of all The Gods, just cannot find her boyfriend.
She doesn't let other people see her like this, (Or, she tries to not let other people see her like that, at the very least.) But still, she misses Percy.
Is not just the prophecy, or the end of the world, is not just that the Camp needs both their leaders, and is not just that it's a necessity.
Is that she loves Percy and she can't see him.
So, when she's sure everybody else is supposed to be asleep, and she's breaking the rules once more, just for him, she sneaks out of her Cabin, like any self-respecting Athenea Cabin Leader, shouldn't do, and she runs to the Poseidon Cabin.
And at first, she's not sure if it's the Mist, or it's the darkness, or if she's way too tired, and way too overworked, and her eyes are starting to deceive her, but she's sure she sees it.
A little dark shadow, cuddling to the door, like a puppy begging to be let inside, in the middle of a storm.
Against her own instincts, she decides the best tactic is to approach it gently, later on, she's thankful once more to her mother.
Because, Annabeth doesn't know what Nico di Angelo would have done to her, if she suddenly ambushed him while he was dead asleep.
They decide not to talk about it, Annabeth notices the trees and grass around them starting to die, she wonders if Nico can kill even the plants buried deep under the sea.
She doesn't ask.
Instead, they both sit in silence together.
This is probably the most accompanied Annabeth has felt in ages, which is really odd, because sure she knows Nico isn't a bad person, but he still scares her, like the night, and the spiders, back when she was little.
Nico understands neither of them wants to leave, but he would, if only he wasn't so damn tired all the time, he knows he shouldn't shadowtravel so much, but if his body, and his health, are the toll for finding Percy, then so be it.
This pattern repeats every night ever since.
Nico sleeps on the entrance to Percy's door, but never goes in, Annabeth always finds him, but she never speaks.
Eventually, Annabeth starts noticing the way Nico's bones pop, barely visible underneath his dark shirt, or the way his eyebags seem heavier and darker, like a growing bruise on his face every night, the way his veins show through his pale skin, and the way he never eats, well, anything at all, really.
And just the same, Nico notices her grey hairs, the chunks of it that just randomly fall off due to stress, her dirty clothes, the way she can go almost a week straight without remembering to shower, or brush her teeth, the bruises on her body, thanks to all the excersice she's forcing her body to stand, the eyebags that only grow, and grow.
They both know they need to actually sleep at some point.
And sleep for real, not just pass out from exhaustion on Percy's floor from time to time.
Nico has never been the sort to blink first though, so Annabeth understands, negotiations here, are gonna have to fall onto her.
She tells Nico that they need to sleep, like actually quality sleep.
Nico only nods, he doesn't look like he's paying attention to her, but Annabeth's brain has already come up with the most pragmatic, and powerful strategy, to achieve what she wants right now.
Annabeth stands up, and goes back to her Cabin, not without first warning Nico that she will be back in five minutes.
Nico doesn't look like he believes her. Annabeth understands he has got no reason to believe her, it makes the strategy all the more important.
But first, not without terrorizing herself with what she's planning to do.
She sneaks back into her bed, and quietly opens the tiny backpack, that her dad helped her put together, back in their house, before she arrived back home.
She grabs her precious little bag, she opens it, and she sighs.
Annabeth shuts her eyes, and forces herself, to carry her own plan to fruition.
She comes back to Nico, with Percy's shirt, well-carried, on her hands, well, one of his shirts, his preferred Camp Half-Blood shirt.
Percy had given it to Annabeth, before she left to go live with her dad, as a sorta remember-me-by, and Annabeth had never taken it out of its package, for anything at all.
She took it everywhere with her, like a sacred symbol, of some sort of home.
And Annabeth couldn't lie, and say she wasn't scared, mostly, because Nico's stare scared her a little, she thought, if anybody would be able to call her bluff, it wouldn't be Percy, it would be Nico.
(Annabeth was also sure, Nico had a completely clear sight from birth, but that was neither here nor there.)
Her fear wasn't of Nico, though, her fear was on holding the shirt, and not being able to let go.
Of holding onto it, and ruining it, with her strong warrior hands, and her desperation, that ran organs-deep, because she knew the logical outcome here, once she grabbed it, it would eventually stop smelling like Percy, and she would hate it, and then, the illogical outcome she feared so much, that if she lost this one shirt, she would lose all connection to Percy.
And that, would kill her.
And then, it would be like she had never even met him, gone with the wind, lost at sea, like a dream, she would be left with no way to prove, she once knew a boy named Percy who saved the world.
Who loved her just as she loved him.
After that, what would Annabeth even do with herself, anymore.
That all is completely irrational, Illogical, and impossible, Annabeth understands that too, so she forces her legs to keep on moving.
She stops before Nico, and presents the shirt to him, and it isn't lost on Annabeth, the way Nico almost backs off in surprise, and the way his lips open, just ever so slightly, and the way his one visible eye gets wide, and the way Nico's cheeks get this sorta, cutesy rosey, tint to them.
And she's sure she understands, but she cannot make herself deal with that right now.
She tells him "Let's find neutral territory for the moment." She's not sure if she knows what the moment even is.
But still, Annabeth grabs his hand, and against all odds, she's surprised, as Nico allows her to, and she has to force herself not to shiver, because Nico is cold as a corpse, and Annabeth knows way too well, just how quickly corpses get cold.
Nico knows it far far better.
Nico notices. He already knows. He always does.
He doesn't judge her for it, he hates himself too much for it.
Annabeth stops them on a grass patch, some pond nymphs near by, and she can see the nymphs snarling at Nico, and for some reason, she feels so angry all of a sudden, because Annabeth knows, it's not like Nico has ever actually done anything to them.
Annabeth is suddenly reminded of her first big fight with Hera, of screaming at her face, that Nico did belong, back then, it felt so instinctively true.
Now, Annabeth could see the way the Camp died away at his presence, the way the rest of the kids never approached him, unless they needed Nico's help for something.
And yet, Nico did always help them.
Before Annabeth can catch herself, she's already running towards the nymphs, her fists raised, and she knows there was a time where not every single little thing, disturbed her like this, but Nico just grabs her arm, and this time, Annabeth can't hold back the shivers because he's so so cold, and so strong.
Nico quietly tells her, for all to hear "They are just scared, it's fine."
Annabeth knows she can't blame them, because she's scared too, and Nico knows it.
Annabeth slaps her head, forcing herself to back down, she makes herself keep glaring at the pond, but her angry stare just doesn't hold, as she slowly, but surely, forces the shirt done her frame.
Annabeth wants so badly to hold onto it and make it eternal.
The shirt is old, it's only a little oversized on her, it smells exactly like Percy, exactly like the sea.
She's a strong girl, Annabeth doesn't cry, but if she does cry, Nico isn't gonna tell on her with anybody, either way.
After a while, where nobody says anything, where Nico only stares at her:
Annabeth lays quietly on the grass, her eyes wide open, on the moon, and she spreads her arms wide, she can hold them open for an eternity, if that's what it takes until Nico accepts it.
It does feel like an eternity, a little bit like holding the weight of the world in her shoulders, before Nico, looking like a mysterious shadow, slips into her arms.
They don't talk about it, but they can hear their hearts beating way too fast, and way too loud.
Nico has his arms tightly wrapped around her waist, and Annabeth has got to remind herself, that he's holding onto Percy's shirt, not onto her, there's a part of her, that's curious to see, to try to test Nico's limits, to toss the shirt at a fire, and watch Nico chase after it.
But she loves this damn shirt far too much to ever do something like that.
Slowly, Annabeth lowers her own arms, and she's holding onto Nico's hair now, his head heavy between her hands, and Nico is holding onto Percy, which leaves Annabeth wondering, what exactly is her excuse then, in their situation.
At some point, her eyes close, and she doesn't even notice it.
It's the first night of true sleep Nico has gotten in a really long time, for once, not searching for Percy even in his dreams.
The next morning he has breakfast, that he doesn't really eat, but he stays, and it occurs to Annabeth, that Nico staying anywhere, was everything Percy had ever wanted.
She would have to brag about it to him, once Percy got back.
Percy and Nico never admit it out loud.
They understand they are doing something odd.
But Annabeth keeps wearing the shirt, and Nico keeps falling asleep by her side, and there's no excuse to it, anymore, they both can tell the shirt has long since, stopped smelling like Percy and sea salt, and started smelling like shampoo, and Nico's rotten corpse, and pomegranates essence.
Somehow, Annabeth finds, she doesn't hate it that bad.
Nico despises it, but he can't let go of one of the very few soft things he's ever known.
And that's fine, because Annabeth keeps laying with her arms open without asking any questions, and Nico keeps falling asleep, while holding onto her waist, without offering any explanations.
They both know it will never be the same, not ever what they are actually craving, and searching for, because this whole situation has only made them hunt for Percy even harder.
But they can still keep each other company, until they manage to find Percy, somehow, that is.
Annabeth is surprised to find that now, instead of dying, the grass underneath Nico grows mushrooms.
Nico is too.
