🌸 ABOUT THE EVENT 🌸
❧ What is ShinRan Week?
ShinRan Week is a 7-day event dedicated to the Detective Conan pairing Kudou Shinichi and Mouri Ran. Every day, there will be 1-3 (exact number TBD) prompts/themes. Everyone is welcome to share fics, art, graphic edits, headcanons, text posts, and any other product of their imagination, for as many or few prompts as you like, for the ShinRan fandom to enjoy.
❧ How do I participate?
Simply post your work on Tumblr and tag it with #shinranweek2021 in the first 5 tags so we and other fans can track and reblog! (Your blog will need to be searchable for this to work. You can also tag us directly in the post if you can’t/don’t want to make your blog searchable.) You may also submit your entries via the submit button in our Tumblr page.
❧ I don’t have a Tumblr account. Can I still participate?
Yes! You can submit your entries here and we will post them for you. You may indicate your name/username and social media platform in your submissions so that people can know they are yours.
🌸 ABOUT THE ENTRIES 🌸
❧ What entries are allowed?
Fanfiction, fanart, graphic edits, fanmix, AMVs, headcanons, metas, colorings — any product of your imagination is welcome!
❧ May we submit entries in a different language?
Yes.
❧ Are platonic ShinRan submissions allowed?
Yes, creations centered on their platonic relationship are appreciated too! Please remember this is a ShinRan event, so try to focus on their relationship, whatever form it takes.
❧ What about Conan&Ran or Conan/Ran?
Sure. Again, please remember that the event centers on the relationship between Shinichi and Ran, so try to include elements of Shinichi in your creation as well. For Conan/Ran, sexual themes should be avoided.
❧ Can I write angst stories?
Realistically sad love stories sound great. We'd appreciate it if angst is properly tagged, so fluff-seekers don't accidentally trip into it.
❧ What about OT3/OT4/polycule stories?
OT3/OT4/polycule submissions are allowed, so long as the focus of the entry remains to be ShinRan. We also advise to tag the submission accordingly.
❧ Are NSFW entries allowed?
NSFW works are welcome, but we will keep this official event blog SFW and won't be reblogging them here. Feel free to tag them with #shinranweek2021.
🌸 OTHER QUESTIONS 🌸
❧ What are mini prompts?
Interactive Mini Prompts is a weekly pre-event aimed to engage participants and spark their creative juices. Every Friday, ShinRan-related questions or hypothetical scenarios, among others, will be posted and anyone may throw in their answers or ideas in the comments, reblogs, or tags. They may also respond through rough sketches, drabbles, or whatever comes of their own creativity. Mini prompts will be designed so that the responses to them can be fairly limited and not very time-consuming (i.e. multiple-choice questions, this or that, etc.).
❧ What if I had to suddenly stop creating content (can’t participate in the event) midway?
It's fine! Creators are not obliged to create content for all prompts in all seven days of the event.
❧ Will there be a set number of outputs for content creators in the event?
No. You can create for as many or as few prompts as you like.
❧ What if I need more time to create content?
Worry not, late entries are allowed. We will be reblogging submissions until August 14.
❧ How much do YOU love Shinran?
So much, survey respondent. So much.

As usual, feel free to send in an ask if you still have questions.

Who of the boys do you think is more to least likely to let their girl do cute self-care things to them/with them (paint their nails, do face masks, put make-up on them, etc)?
This is a little hard! In my head the three boys are out of the ‘least likely’ scale - they’ll definitely give in to their girlfriends because the girls always get the best of them lmao. Perhaps it is how long before they give in that’ll vary.
In which case, it is probably Kaito who’s easiest to convince. He’ll let Aoko do self-care things to him and with him. They’ll watch Netflix with face masks on; they’ll do nightly skin care rituals together; Kaito will let Aoko paint his fingernails and toenails; heck, he’ll even volunteer applying Aoko’s make-up.
Shinichi is in the middle. I see him as the go-with-the-flow type of boyfriend when it comes to this. Ran will be like, “Shinichi, let’s try this new moisturizing face wash and cream I bought on sale!” and at first he’ll raise an eyebrow but after one cute smile and puppy eyes from Ran, he’ll say yes. He'd rather not offer himself to be Ran’s pallet when testing out new make-up or nail polish, but if she asks, he won’t reject. He’ll be chill throughout the whole ‘testing’ process. As long as he sees Ran enjoying it, he’s good.
Heiji is the hardest to convince. The Fairy Lips case did show how weak he is to Kazuha’s advances, but perhaps when it comes to self-care and beauty stuff, our stubborn tsundere boy will not let his face and nails be toyed at by Kazuha without putting up an unnecessary fight. He’ll give in, eventually - there is nothing else he can do, he loves the ahou - but he’ll be grumbling all throughout. He has no issues with face masks though, he’ll put that on with her.

I love all your Heizuha contents!!!! Oneshots, drabbles, etc (memes too lol). And your ANGST FICS???? I'M DESTROYED. Just curious, if you are accepting requests, can you write happy shinran and heizuha oneshot? I need something to heal from your angsty AUs 😢😢😢😢💦💦
Hi hello thank you so much 🥺 AH YES HEIZUHA I’m HEART-EYES FOREVER 😍!! My hot-blooded Kendo boi and his Aikido (and Karuta) queen ugh they make me feel so soft. Wait—don’t be destroyed pls omg I have a shinran oneshot first for you right here! And yes it actually is a happy one. Although I gotta say I’m probably even worse at doing happy sappy fluff. But still, I hope you like this! ❤️❤️
Fandom: Detective Conan/DCMK Pairing: Shinichi/Ran Rating: G Genre/Tags: Romance, Fluff Summary: Ran hates being apart from Shinichi. All she wants is to feel his warmth next to her.
Ran is happy to be with Shinichi, even if it means not being physically together and having to survive long distance.
Now she would be lying if she says it doesn’t bother her in the slightest. After they got together and she finds out that Shinichi still has to leave for his ongoing case, her initial thought is that it wouldn’t bother her. She’s grown so used to it by now. It’s not like he’s never coming back, because he always does. After all, they just started dating, and maybe this way they’ll still be in their honeymoon stage for years to come.
They have been doing alright with frequent calls and texts sent to each other. Although she is slightly upset that they can’t physically go out on any dates, hearing Shinichi’s voice always makes everything worth it. She knows she’s going to forget all this as soon as she sees him again.
She does expect Shinichi to be as sad and lonely as she is, but she never asks about it. She doesn’t want him to think that she’s already turning clingy after only a few months into their relationship. And because she is an understanding girlfriend, she never tells him how she feels about it. She has been saying “I love you” more often though, now that she’s more comfortable saying it, which he always happily returned. She never once doubts Shinichi either—he gives her zero reasons to. Besides, they have short meet ups every now and then, and those feel like they are enough for her.
There are certain things that leaves her feeling an extra amount of longing. When she sees couples out and about in the streets, or strolling around the park, or fooling around in the hallway of their school, it breaks her heart a little. She wants Shinichi by her side, to be able to cuddle into his warmth. She wants to walk next to him and hold his hand, to go to the movies and check out cute restaurants.
“I miss you,” Ran mumbles into her mic, only one side of her earphones on. She is lying on her bed, on a call with her boyfriend who is still away, on yet another case. She has to cherish all their calls together because time is all she can afford.
She traces her finger on her phone’s screen, outlining his name that’s currently displayed, yearning to touch him. She can't help but feel disappointed when all she can feel is how hot her phone is. She should probably get a new phone soon.
“I miss you too. More than words can describe,” Shinichi replies guiltily, sad that Ran is so troubled. He has been trying to ease her pain by sneaking away to call her more often these days. He sees the longing in her eyes, always wondering what he can do for her. He hates it, hates seeing Ran’s face contort into sadness and what seems like disappointment. It never gets any easier.
If only she knows that they are actually together literally every single day.
“Anyway, how is your day?” Shinichi asked, trying to change the subject to distract her.
Ran huffs. “Conan-kun left on a weekend camping trip with his class. I’m worried about his safety. They’re elementary students, they’re not supposed to go camping in the mountains yet!”
Shinichi smiles fondly. Yep, he’s definitely on his camping trip all right.
“Also, it is kind of lonely here when he’s not around.” Lonelier, she adds to herself.
“You have nothing to worry about, I’m sure he’ll be okay,” Shinichi reassures, grinning.
“I suppose it’s true. Conan-kun does know how to take care of himself. What are you doing, anyway? Do you have to go soon? Can we switch to video call?” The hope in her voice is unmistakable. He purposely ignores Ran’s questions while wrecking his brain for a believable excuse to not switch to video call. But it is too late, she has already pressed the button that requested for him to accept the call.
Uh oh.
Shinichi curses silently. As soon as their cameras are on, he raises his phone up close to his face, careful to leave the streetlights out of view. “Hi!,” he says, hoping she wouldn’t detect the nervousness in his voice. Ran squints at the blurry screen. She can’t see much, but it is enough to make her whole evening better.
“You know what, Shinichi? It’s okay, you’re probably busy and tired, I understand! Have a good night or morning, wherever you are, okay?” Ran yawns, turning to lie on the other side as she reaches out to switch off her table lamp. “I’m already getting ready for bed anyway. Please stay safe out there. I love you.”
“NO!” Shinichi yells, before realizing how loud and unnecessary it is. He stops to look around, praying that no one around him is affected by the noise he is making. Ran is decently surprised. “Shinichi, what’s wrong?”
“I, uh, I’m staking out a criminal’s possible hideout. It’s really boring here because nothing is happening so far and it’s probably deserted. Keep me me while I wait?” Shinichi asks sheepishly, belatedly realizing how dumb of an excuse he just gave. Is it even believable in the slightest? “I’m just walking around the place now,” He adds as he quickened his pace.
Ran yawns but he can see her nodding her head in the dark. “Don’t you have to be aware of your surroundings, though? What if the bad guys creep up on you?”
“You’re right,” he says half-heartedly, not really paying attention to what she’s saying anymore. He’s trying to climb up the stairs as fast as his feet can take him. He is so close.
Ran mumbles something sleepily in return. How she wishes for body heat, but she only had her blanket to make up for the warmth. She closes her eyes, unaware that the line has gone silent. After a few more beats of silence, she hears the front door being unlocked. She sits up, suddenly alert and forgetting about her call with Shinichi. It is definitely not her father, since she can hear his snores very audibly from his room. Is it Conan, coming back from his camping trip a few days early? But—it’s literally the middle of the night, so if it actually is Conan, he has some explaining to do. She tip-toes to the door just to get ready in case it is an actual robber.
As the door unlocks and the intruder enters, Ran’s eyes widen and her hand flails around for the switch to turn one of the lights one as she recognizes the familiar silhouette. It can't be.
“Surprise.” Shinichi is standing there, smiling widely at the sight of his dumbfounded girlfriend.
Ran stares at the boy in front of her for a good while before reaching out for him in a frenzy. “You’re kidding,” she chokes out, wrapping her arms tightly around him, afraid he will be gone again as soon as she let go.
“I’ve missed you too,” Shinichi sighs, hugging Ran back just as tight. They stand like that, hugging at the door silently, choosing to ignore the fact that her father can very well walk out of his room at any given moment. Shinichi pulls away, frowning, when he realizes that she is crying.
“Hey, don’t cry.” He whispers softly, bending his knees to look at Ran who has her head down. She shakes her head, opting to bury her face in his chest instead. Shinichi run his hands up and down her back, gently kissing the top of her head. “Don’t cry, I’m here.”
Ran looks up, a few droplets of tears streaming down her face. “That’s exactly why I’m crying! You’re back now, for.. God knows how long, and then you’re gonna have to leave me again. Probably in a few hours, or in the morning if we’re lucky,” she cries, sniffling. “I’ve missed you so much.”
Shinichi remains quiet as Ran cries her heart out in silence. Then, he very gently lifts her up, carrying her to the bedroom and setting her down on the bed. “Actually, I have a few days to spend with you.”
“Wh-what do you mean?”
“I mean, you’re right. And I’m not gonna lie to you, I will have to leave again, but not until Monday. So.. I’m yours for the whole weekend.” Shinichi says, hoping for her acceptance, despite how little he is offering her right now.
“The whole weekend?” Her smile is back on her face at this point. Sounds like she will just have to make the most out of this weekend, then. It’s a good thing she doesn’t have anything yet planned. She wipes the tears off of her face. She can’t waste their time together by crying like this. “Oh Shinichi, there are so many places that I wanted to go with you to!”
“We can go anywhere you want,” says Shinichi. That already sounds perfect to him. Truth be told, any moments spent with Ran were perfect. The Where and What weren’t all that important. Like right now. Even in the dim light, he can see how bright she’s smiling. God, all he wanted to do is stare at her and admire her beauty, amongst everything else.
He hates lying to Ran, although it is done to protect her, to shield her. He will have to lie to her some more, but this time, he does not want to make any more promises he can't keep. “It will all be over soon, I promise. I’ll come home for good.” You’re my home, he wants to say.
She has missed him so much—she missed his voice, his scent, his warmth, his presence. She crawls towards him, unable to hide the overwhelming sense of hope that arises after his declaration. “Really?”
“Really.” Ran can feel the tears welling up again. This time, out of happiness. “It hurts so much to not be able to be by your side.”
“I’m here,” murmurs Shinichi quietly as he reaches out to wipe some of her fallen tears away with the pad of his thumb. “... and I’m always watching.” he adds quietly, wrapping an arm around her as he hugs her to sleep.
Ran nods in silence. She has so many things to tell him, but she is content with just enjoying his warmth and presence beside her for now. Truly, nothing can compare to the homey feeling and the familiarity of being next to Shinichi. She lets him hold her to sleep, his voice a lullaby that carries her out of consciousness.
“I’m always with you,” he whispers, leaning down to kiss her forehead, “There’s nowhere I’d rather be.”

So...
Let me talk to you a little bit about one of my favorite things in this manga, and it has to do with Ran. I know this comes really late, but bear with me, because it came to mind the other day and now I have the need to share.
Ran has questioned Shinichi's desire to be a detective a couple of times. She has asked him directly that if he wants to be involved with mysteries so much, why doesn't he just write about them like his father? How can he be okay with seeing some of the things he has to witness during cases (corpses, etc.)? And he has explained that the thrill he feels solving actual cases cannot be substituted by anything else. She seemed not really convinced. Accepting, of course. Because this is Ran, and she loves Shinichi, and she accepts him the way he is. She sees his excitement and is happy for him but doesn't really understand it herself at that point.
But Ran has now seen both sides of being a detective. Its cons and its perks. She had to listen to Shinichi's deductions and then accuse a woman she admired because it was what had to be done.
Tumblr media
She pulled it together and got it done, but she didn't like it.
Tumblr media
And she ends up leaving and crying while hugging Conan. Truly the job of a detective is difficult and to have to expose a person you know and admire nonetheless... It hurt her. (Shinichi also has gone through this experience before, with Ray.)
But then the case at the convenience store with her friend Aya happened. And she got a taste of the better side of the job. She actually carries an investigation of her own this time. No help from Shinichi, it's just her. And she's insecure. And how couldn't she be? But then Shinichi calls her..
Look at his little smirk and try to tell me he's not proud of her, I dare you. She's anxious, she doesn't know if she's right and she's scared of saying what she's thinking because what if she's wrong? But instead of telling her straight up...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He assures her that THAT is the best part. That the feelings and excitement they get from testing their theories out is just THAT great. He just gives her that little push of confidence that she needs, and THEN SHE'S ON THE JOB BITCH. She goes for it and she's right. She gets stuck in a little detail, but Shinichi immediately jumps in to help her because how could he not.
Tumblr media
Look at her! She's blushing! She solved it, and she was able to help her friend
And she finally gets it, solving cases and helping people is kinda cool, huh?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(so that's what's got Shinichi hooked on it... Maybe it's not that bad after all. Who knows, she might be carrying her own long investigation now concerning a certain boyfriend detective gone missing 😉. But that's a chat for another day.)
Also let me add this panel of Shinichi calling her "Miss Detective" because oH FUCK

what was your first Conan fic?
Oh boy, storytime!
So there is a short answer and a LONG answer to this question.
The Short Answer:
You didn’t ask this for the whole story, you asked because of what I mentioned in my tags: that the first DCMK fic I ever read had a scene where Conan lays out exactly how easy it would have been, after Kaito’s slip up referencing the great magician Kuroba Toichi while in disguise at the lodge on that one case, to just... look up Kuroba Toichi. With the filters from other things Conan had extrapolated, such as likely age range, combined with the kind of closeness to Toichi indicated by Kid’s bringing him up, it would have taken maybe half a day to narrow down the likely identity of the new Kaitou Kid. Conan knew that was all he had to do. And then... he didn’t. He purposefully never looked there, let it remain a mystery.
UNFORTUNATELY, I remembered wrong. My first DCMK fic, while the gateway to a whole new world for me, is not actually the fic that has this scene. :/
There was a little community of DCMK fics I was reading back in the livejournal days (ManyCasesOneTruth LJ community, whatup!!!) and it was one of those that had that scene, but I’m not sure which one. :( If someone reads this monster and happens to know, please tell me so I can reread it. Haha.
Anyway my first Conan fic was Windfall by Ysabet.
The Long Answer: (AKA how Detective Conan changed my life)
The year was 2004. I had finally started watching the Case Closed dub on Adult Swim - videotaping it because I couldn’t stay up to watch it at 1AM - after half a year of being too afraid because the commercials involved dead bodies and it looked scary.
That summer, my family was on vacation, and there was no way for me to watch the episodes that would be piling up on the VHS back at home. I had briefly ventured onto the ff.net page before, but found so many summaries centered around unfamiliar names that I assumed I had to watch more and meet all these fan favorite characters before I’d be able to make heads or tails of any of it. But - I was at ends, and so I decided to give it another shot. A google search brought me to a site called something like The Red Thread, and a list with winners of some fanfiction awards. Best overall for... whatever year it was - 2003? - was Windfall by Ysabet.
Now, the funny thing about Windfall is: not only does it use all the Japanese names that so confused me back then, not only does it center completely around characters I had not met yet and assume knowledge of events and backstory that I didn’t have - it’s also actually the fourth fic in a series. Not that I was aware of that. Character that isn’t in the canon? I assumed it was yet another canon character that I just hadn’t met yet. Everyone else was. Probably the only name I recognized in that fic was “Conan” and he ended up playing such a small part (though I extrapolated that “Ayumi” was “Amy” pretty easily). But it was so good, and I devoured it anyway.
Only 7 chapters of Windfall were posted on TheRedThread. I finished this fic about Kaito, who I didn’t know, and Aoko, who I didn’t know, and Ayumi, who I had seen trapped in a car trunk with a “severed head” in one CC episode but who I had not at all seen grow a friendship with a thief sheltering on her balcony, and I wanted more.
When I got home, I found the wait for Case Closed episodes to air more agonizing than ever. I took to google again, seeking out more information, and somehow, someway, stumbled through my first ever torrent download. I didn’t even know what I was doing. I didn’t know episodes of television could be available online. I couldn’t believe it when I saw a link titled “episodes 1-10″ and just blindly followed whatever instructions I could to see what it was. Downloading Bittorrent, downloading VLC... Imagine my surprise when I finally opened up the show I was looking for but.. in another language. With subtitles!
It all took off from there. I learned all about how most of the cartoons I liked were actually anime from Japan and that when they were dubbed in English the companies often also changed characters’ names and censored stuff and altered large swathes of dialogue to make things more palatable to American audiences. I learned about manga that I could buy in Waldenbooks and that most of them were flipped but some of them weren’t because the original artwork was meant to be read right to left. I learned about, basically, everything that I had been missing out on from the stories I liked, that had been diluted out of the original versions for my consumption.
I started following a Detective Conan fansubber and downloading their latest episodes as soon as they came out, and learned all about “Shinichi” and “Ran”.
I discovered that Windfall was actually part of an entire Wind series, and had a lot more than 7 chapters besides. Fanfiction was my entire introduction to Kaitou Kid and I used to draw fanart based entirely on descriptions in fic and then was super excited when the preview for the next Detective Conan episode  (76!) included Kaito! Kaito Kuroba, the main character in Windfall, my introduction to this entire world! (And my mental image of him from fanfic was a fair ways off - it was elating to see the actual character. I think I immediately drew like 8 different pictures based on that preview, since I had a reference.)
As I mentioned earlier, there was a very small community of Conan fics I was reading back then - probably about 5 or 6 core authors on a Conan fanworks livejournal community (Many Cases One Truth!) who wrote a number of fics that I recall fondly. There was the psychic detective Heiji series by KosagiNoLegion - I LOVED that one. The Shinichi and Kaito find out they’re actually identical cousins fic (Relative Truth, by Becky Tailweaver).  Ysabet‘s entire Wind series, obviously. The most notable BNF was probably Icka M. Chif, who I always remember was once described to “own 3/4 of the Magic Kaito fandom in fic.” To this day I will idly doodle fanart for Billie Jukes’ The Impossible Murder. I could go on for ages about all the now quite old DCMK fic from back in the livejournal days, but... that would take a lot of writing. Haha.
Anyway, the Detective Conan fandom and its explanations about dub names, etc. is the reason I found out about anime and manga and dubbing and censorship and rewrites and how very different the Digimon movies are from The Digimon Movie, and all about 4chan One Piece vs actual One Piece, and is the reason I now always try to watch foreign films in their original languages with subtitles and basically altered the trajectory of my entire life at 13 years old.
(Well, probably not. Probably I would have discovered all of these things anyway, and sooner rather than later. But I didn’t, and Detective Conan will always get the credit for my life.)

okay, writer ask meme, i need to know 5 and 9, please. that sounded rude. May I ask for you to answer questions 5 and 9, please? :3
5. Do you have an idea for a story you don’t feel you can write at this current time? (Whether it be because life is busy right now, you need to do more research, etc.)
Well I have lots of ideas as of the moment. Most of them I can’t write because I still don’t have time and I’m choosing to focus on one fic at a time. So here are the following pending fics I have in mind.1.  Actor Shinichi and Model Ran AU-The idea just sounds cute. I still don’t have a solid idea as to what the whole story’s gonna be about. But I just wonder how Shinichi’s gonna be like if he dreamed to be an actor like his mom and since Ran in the canonverse has been getting a lot of model job offers, I’m wondering how it’s gonna be. Like these two in the show business and then working on a project together dealing with crazy paparazzi and fangirls. That’s just a few of the possibilities. hahaha2. Pre-ShinRan Yusaku-Yukiko and Kogoro-Eri-As I’ve said in one of my posts, I want more fanfics about the parents. For Yusaku and Yukiko, I’m thinking these two met in the film/theater industry. Yukiko being the beautiful rising actress who likes being the center of attention and Yusaku the strugglinig writer who’s working for mainstream to later create a work of art on his own. Yusaku could be a little too hard on Yukiko’s acting saying that she doesn’t embody the essence of the character the way he pictured it in his head even when everyone else is impressed by her performance. Yukiko being annoyed by Yusaku’s arrogance but eventually leading her to practice and practice and practice more, maybe even asking Yusaku to read lines with her and then the two of them getting carried away maybe even leading them to practice the kiss scene because their delivery was so intense. Then after the little incident, Yukiko would tell Yusaku that he could make a good actor but Yusaku shakes his head saying that he prefers to stay behind the scenes and that being a writer is his mere passion. (Hi I can relate hahahaha)For Kogoro-Eri, maybe exploring them pre-Ran and then when Ran came into their lives and then after the separation and their reconciliation after that. When I started writing TSOY, I’ve started being a sucker for reconciliation/post break up fics. Hahahah. I thinking, one of the problems Kogoro and Eri encountered during their marriage is that they weren’t ready. I mean let’s face it, if we do the Math, Kogoro and Eri most likely got married and had Ran in their 20s. Which is still too young btw. Eri probably isn’t a lawyer then or maybe is still studying to be one. I’m guessing she had to give up that up for Kogoro and baby Ran and I’m thinking, being a housewife/full time mom isn’t natural for Eri but she is trying really hard. So, when Kogoro doesn’t appreciate it (ex. dissing her cooking) she gets mad and it hurts her so much so they fight, hence leading to a problematic relationship. With that, Eri had to leave and in the process she maybe found herself pursuing law again until years later she now has a great career but her heart still longs for Kogoro because obviously, she still loves him and he’s just a f*cking knuckle head who loves her as well but is too stupid to do something about it. hahaha3. Adult Detective Shin and Adult Lawyer Ran-I know I’ve written about them like this in TSOY but I want to write about like a real case where they both have to team up to solve it. Still need research for this.I still have more I can’t recall as of the moment. But hopefully things go well and I’ll be able to write all these ideas.
9. Favorite cliche or trope? I’m a sucker for back hugs among couples and maybe the famous Post-BO hospital scene.  You know the works, Ran waiting by Shinichi’s bed and holding his hand until he wakes up. A dramatic moment between them, some tears and maybe a kiss. It’s a cliche that I honestly love. hahaha I know many write scenes like this and some may get tired of it but ahhh I’m in love.

A Small Game
Cutting it close for posting on the right day, but here’s my piece for the winter mini exchange over on @dcmkkaishinexchange. my recipient is @hachikoshrine.
I stayed as close to one of the prompts you gave as I could. I hope you enjoy!
my source for flower language at the end can be found here. (you may actually need to read it to get the whole bouquet thing i made it really vague I’m sorry)
When Shinichi woke, he wasn't expecting it to be to a crash from downstairs. However, guessing that it was just Ran, he took his time getting ready. When he finally made his way downstairs, it was to no such sight. He walked into the kitchen to see it almost completely trashed. So, at least he knew where the crash had come from then. There was a small stack of pots and pans leading up to one of the higher windows and took a moment to comprehend it.
The last time that anything similar had happened Kaitou KID had broken in in the middle of the night to do--well actually he didn’t know. Shinichi, slowly started moving to see if he could find anything missing or even just a note.
When he went up to the library to investigate, there was a convenient note sitting on the desk
good moring, my Knight. it is time to start moving, for another is waiting for you in her Abode above the place of waking,
-KID
He stared at the note for a moment. The randomly capitalized words were a bit annoying, but obviously had some kind of significance, the thief had definitely never called him a knight before. The objective of what KID wanted him to do was pretty obvious too. It wasn’t hard to figure out that “the place of waking” was probably Poirot and the “Abode” was the detective agency. So, somehow, KID knew that he was supposed to head that way before it got too late in the day.
Shinichi did a quick scan of the room to make sure everything was still present. One things stood out to him immediately. One of the small presents that one of the Detective Boys had given him was missing from its proper place.
Shinichi took a moment to figure out where KID might have placed the darn thing as a way to mess with him, but he couldn’t find it at all.
Knowing that his only lead was the darn note that the thief had left, Shinichi decided to follow it, hoping that he’d be able to retrieve the trinket at the end of whatever game KID was playing.
When he arrived at the detective agency it wasn’t hard to find the new note as it was simply taped to the first door up the stairs. Obviously, KID either didn’t want to risk running into Ran, or was only a little ahead of Shinichi himself in the game.
In case you were wondering, The thing you are missing can be found in the place of your pondering.
-KID
This new note was not quite as obvious as the first. “The place of your pondering” could mean many things to Shinichi: his home library, the school, the detective agency he was currently outside of, the police station, etc.
For now though, he decided to let the note sit in the back of his mind while he spent the rest of the morning with Ran. No, they weren’t dating. They had decided that, after a week of trying, their dynamic just didn’t work for that kind of relationship and had defaulted back to business as usual. However, they still hung out together quite a bit, and that’s what the intention for the day had been until KID had initiated their little game.
Shinichi decided to head on up to the flat above the agency since Ran was more likely to be up there than down where she would have to deal with her father. Before he could even knock, the door opened
“Shinichi! I thought you wouldn’t be here until later!” Shinichi found himself being grabbed by the shoulders and dragged into the flat without being given the chance to respond. “I hope you don’t mind, but Aoko called this morning and said that she and Kaito were planning on being in Beika today and asked to meet up with us. I said that we had some plans but offered to let them tag along so they’re already here.”
Shinichi took a moment to comprehend what Ran was telling him before responding, “That’s fine.” Surprisingly, Ran and Aoko were friends because they had met through Kaito and Shinichi meeting up with each other as much as they could get away with when the boys were younger (and didn’t have cell phones).
The group of four proceed about their day, and Shinichi still couldn’t figure out where the note was trying to send him. He could feel Kaito kind of staring at the back of his head and it was starting to make him uncomfortable until the other boy finally spoke up.
“What are you so stressed about Shinichi?” Kaito was staring at him like he already knew more than he was letting on.
Shinichi turned to him and kind of sighed before giving the most basic explanation he could think of, “KID, the thief one, is playing a bit of a game with me. I’m trying to figure out the second clue he left me.”
Kaito kind of chuckled, “You need some help, Ichi? I could take a look at it.”
Shinichi sighed at the silly nickname Kaito had come up with when he started refusing to respond to Shin-chan, before turning away from him, “Not yet. I want to see how far I can get without any help first.”
Kaito shrugged, “Suit yourself.” It was silent for a moment before he spoke up, “Hey, I need to go to the library before we head back to Ekoda. So I’m going to break off and go do that. Let the girls know for me, yeah?”
Shinichi absently nodded before moving to catch up with said girls since they had lagged behind with their conversation. For some reason, Shinichi’s mind couldn’t let go of the fact that one could often study or look up weird facts in a library without getting questioned too badly. He eventually decided to head that way when the group of four split to go home.
---
Kaito and Aoko had broken off to head back to the train station and Ran had gotten a call from her dad asking her to head back, so Shinichi quickly made his way to the nearest public library to the detective station. One of the columns outside had another piece of paper taped to it, and when Shinichi walked up to it it was obvious that it was his next clue.
to Observe the truth, first you must find what has been left behind.
-KID
Though the odd capitalization continued, in this note it made some since in helping him identify the right phrase to focus on. It was pointing him right to the Sherlock Holmes books inside. When he reached them, he pulled the books off the shelves until he found the small bracelet from Ayumi and what was hopefully his last clue.
now, my Knight, that you Understand who i am, Retrace your steps Onto the street where you Began. there i will be waiting for you and you can Answer to reach the end.
-KID
The capitals in this note obviously spelled out something by itself, and it was a name that Shinichi very quickly recognized due to his friendship with the very family it mentioned. K-U-R-O-B-A. He pulled out the other notes, that had been slowly collecting in his pocket and picked out the capitals there as well: K-A-I-T-O. Shinichi shook his head when he realized what it meant--the dork hadn’t even tried to scramble them up a bit.
Nevertheless, Shinichi headed back to the street where he started this morning: home. When he arrived, he definitely wasn’t expecting the sight that greeted him. A white clad thief holding a small bouquet of red and lavender roses.
When Shinichi approached the person he now knew was his best friend, the only word he could hear was “So?”
Shinichi smiled before replying, “Kaito, you’re such an idiot,” and a puff of smoke later, the person that was standing front of him was no longer a confident white-clad thief, but a sheepish best friend.
“Sorry, Ichi. I wanted to tell you sooner, but I didn’t think it was safe enough.” Kaito cleared his throat, “uh, the-these are for you,” he said holding out the roses.
Shinichi took them and looked at them for a moment. Six total roses. Three of each of the two colors. “Kaito, you are aware of the bouquet that you just handed me means, yes?” At the other’s slight nod, he smiled. “Don’t think this ends the detective-thief dynamic we have at heists.”
“Hey! As if I could-”
“I love you too, dork.”

My Thoughts on Things
Does Conan/Shinichi think that Ai/Shiho is his Watson??? Even though, he called Akai his Watson...........if he thinks that Ai/Shiho is his Watson and Ran is his Irene Adler although Ran doesn’t match him intellectually......does that mean when(if) he realizes that Ai/Shiho is really his Irene Adler.....she truly got away just like with Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler in Conan Doyle’s stories???!!!
Omo....I can’t to be honest.
I mean...he is hunting down a criminal syndicate, befriending different sorts of government agencies, etc. He is not going to come out of it unscathed mentally. It’s been less than a year, floating timeline bs that confuses the life for me, is he going to be in a relationship with Ran even though he’s going to lie to her whenever she asks a question about the case he’s on??? That’s another thing I don’t like about this. Even though he doesn’t want any of his friends and the people he cares about to get involved or dragged in, he’s already dragged them in when he was on their radar.
ANOTHER THING!!!
This criminal syndicate must be a new criminal syndicate about less than 50-70 years or something like seriously.....you killed a detective confirmation was iffy and you’re not suspcious about the fact there wasn’t a funeral, grieving parents, or grieving friends???? Like there were only rumors about his death and yet they never looked into it???!!!! A FREAKING DETECTIVE AND Y’ALL DIDN’T DOUBLE CHECK???!!!! Are y’all understaffed or something??? What the hell is going on around here? If they were able to get Ai/Shiho in their grasps because their parents worked for them, doesn’t that allow the possibility that there are other children/teens that are connected to organization? Or are they like Shiho where they are being sent to become more useful by learning?
I’m still irritated at the fact the Syndicate really left the whole Shinichi stuff go. What the heck are they doing that is so important?
Wait. Do they even see a high school detective as a threat??? Is it because he’s a High School Student????
There is just so much about this show that lowkey confuses me.....but it does make a great piece to write fanfiction about. I think I’m going to write fanfiction about this show....when I’m done with my finals and can chill.
Also, I might actually have to rewatch all the episodes/movies....possibly reread the manga........
Holy French Fries! What about the organization that wants the Pandora gem that Kaito is trying to find and destroy??! Are they new too??? Why do they believe in the idea of immortality??? Are they like Akako??? In this universe, is the criminal underworld where all sorts of misfits gather? You know how there’s legends of monsters, demons, witches, or whatever....are all of them involve with the underworld??? Like that anime Nurarihyon no Mago???
SOOOOOO many ideas for fanfiction.
HOWEVER! My confusion is still here.
*shrugs* oh well

Guesses or hopes for the first shinran kiss? How will it go? Who initiates it? Will it be soft and tender or maybe more desperate and passionate???
Hello my dearest anon this has been in my ask box since December 23rd 2017, I shit you not.
But I am very small. And I have no money. So you can imagine the kind of stress I’m under. And if you got that reference, give yourself a brownie point.
Alas, do not fret, I am finally in the perfect condition to answer this.
The short answer is: who’s to say? Quite frankly I do not know. This man Aoyama has surprised me so much with the way he’s handling ShinRan that I no longer feel confident enough to venture a hypothesis as to how any of their romantic milestones are going to go.
Why, you might ask yourself? Well because for the longest time I was honestly 10000% convinced that the confession and first kiss would be packed together in The Final Arc™ either right before the final confrontation or in the midst of it. I was for sure thinking the confession would be paired up with Shinichi telling Ran everything about Conan, etc. But then Aoyama was like bitch you thought!!! And gave us London. And then I honestly thought Ran’s answer would come in a case set during Ran’s birthday. And then Aoyama was like bitch think again!!!! And gave us Kyoto, which he paired up with the first kiss (alright well cheek kiss potato potato).
So, again, who’s to say?
I like to think it still may come in the midst of some Dramatic Experience™ involving the Karasuma Boy Band Of Evil Misfits, which is a name I just came up with for the Black Organization that I will now probably use for eternity. Initiated by Ran, because then it’ll feel like she’s forgiving him and because also my girl’s got some nerve, ya feel? But that’s only because I’m a sucker for those spur-of-the-moment we’re-about-to-die-and-I-won’t-die-without-kissing-you-first kind of situations and they seem to fit Ran and Shinichi perfectly. But I’m also 100000% sure Aoyama’s gonna be like bitch you’ve got no clue!!! And then give me something that’s nothing like what I imagined.
So I guess basically this answer was completely useless, but alas this man has messed with my head enough. I just spent an entire afternoon trying to prove the theory that Vermouth might be Karasuma’s daughter somehow, so you see the kind of situation I am in.
Feel free to keep these asks coming, however!

Detective Conan ~ Aoyama Gosho`s Character Trivia Corner......The thick headedness of Heiji!...(laugh)
So I decided to translate Aoyama`s interview! Here it is...
Tumblr media
Since Movie 21 ~ The crimson love letter was a big success, we interviewed Aoyama-sensei who is supervising DC movies every year and asked him some questions about the characters.
"This year`s main character is me, Kudo!" ~ Hattori Heiji
Q: In the "crimson love letter" love story development. Having their own love story, who among Kudo Shinichi and Hattori Heiji is the most insensitive?
A: The most insensitive is Hattori Heiji. Compared with Shinichi, there are times when he is not even aware of his own feelings. (laugh). Besides, Shinichi has confessed already while Heiji haven`t done anything yet.
Q: When you`re doing Heiji`s character design which part do you pay more attention?
A: In terms of visual aspect, I pay more attention to his eyebrows. The angle of his hair is also important. Then, the reason why he became dark is to contrast with Shinichi. During that time there was no dark character yet, which is why I thought of putting him in. At first I planned Heizo (Heiji`s father) to be a dark colored character, but if you put a tone on him he became like.... "eee, what country is this person came from?!!!" So, I decided that Heiji`s dark color is something he inherited from his grandfather (laugh). I cannot affix it to his mother after all. Do you want to see his grandfather?
"The most interesting part is the ponytail!" Heiji`s childhood friend ~ Toyama Kazuha.
Q: Where do you pay attention the most in drawing Kazuha?
A: When drawing Kazuha I pay more attention to her ponytail. Come to it of it, in the manga her ribbon is color red while in the anime it is color yellow. Also, Kazuha is more aggressive than Ran. She`s someone who says "I like you" easily after all. I guess there are also refreshing things about that side of her.
"The unexpected queen!" Heiji`s mother ~ Shizuka.
Q: This time, Heiji`s mother Shizuka will also make an apperance right?
A: Its been a long time since she last appeared. The story where she appreared so far are "The old photograph murder case" (that was aired in 2001), "Hattori Heiji and Kudo Shinichi`s deduction showdown" (aired in 2007). I wonder how many years it has been. The voice actress haven`t change right? It is still Ms. Masako Katsuki?
"Kazuha`s love rival" ~ Ooka Momiji
Q: How did you came up with Momiji`s character?
A: Her character was made with a big influence from Chihayafuru (by: Yuki Suetsugu). Momiji was also made as the opposite of Chihayafuru`s queen Wakamiya Shinobu. Since Karuta is strong in Kyoto and Shinobu`s character is strong too. While Shinobu has black hair and black eyes, and is a girl who seems to be not interested in doing her nails, Momiji is truly the opposite of her. (laugh). I think that`s beacuse I`m a huge fan of Chihayafuru it has greatly influenced me in working on this project. (laugh).
"Even now it is still with great efforts!" ~ Edogawa Conan
Q: Are there parts where you pay more attention in drawing Conan?
A: When drawing conan, I pay more attention in balancing the eyes and eyeglasses. I draw the eyes first, then do contours, after that the eyeglasses. The eyeglasses are important you know!. I am in-charge of some of the original drawings this time, but the animator`s drawing are getting better too. Even in some of Heiji and the others part, there are places when I think "I didn`t draw it!?" (laugh).
"After all, I`m still conscious about the hairstyle!" Heroine ~ Mori Ran.
Q: Recently even in goods/Merchandise there are some awareness brought about Ran`s pointed hair, does Sensei also conscious about it when you draw her?
A: I am conscious of Ran`s pointed hair. If there is the pointed part you will absolutely figure out if its Ran or not. I think that is good in some ways. Previously it was an ordinary hairstyle with just a wave, but it was hard to tell so I think of gradually playing on her hairstyle.
Q: Even in this piece of work, Ran is still using a flip phone while the others are already using smartphones, may we know the reason behind this?
A: The reason why Ran is still using flip phones while the others are already using smartphones is because it was a request from the fans. There are lots of fan letters that came saying "I am also using a flip phone so please let Ran continue using one too". So, I decided of leaving it like that. Also in the case of flip phones it is easy to use it in pointing out some scenes because we can discribe the phone when opening and closing it. Not to mention its hard to attach a strap in a smartphone. (laugh)
"The first look alike of the author!" ~ Mori Kogoro
Q: When drawing Kogoro where do you pay more attention to?
A: It is the character where I can draw with ease. He is the character who is closest to me so its easy to project him. After all his a "Charan poran" (side note: A Charan poran is a remark meaning that a person is unrealiable in what he says and that he gets out of a tight situation by telling the first lie that comes to his mind). I think Kogoro is someone to say something like this ~ "I`m not Kudo Yuzaku, I`m Mori Kogoro!" (laugh).
"The roles are properly shared" ~ The Detective Boys
Q: What you pay attention the most when working with the members of the Detective Boys?
A: Mitsuhiko`s words are difficult, Genta`s connection with food has been decided. And of course, the "awesome" Ayumi-chan. That`s why when they see a beautiful scenery, the first to comment with "wow" is Ayumi-chan while Genta end up saying "That persimmon tree looks delicious". In the end Mitsuhiko will be the one to explain the details. It is becoming a three-step habit.
"Maybe there was a scene where she gets angry!" ~ Haibara Ai
Q: Please tell us if Haibara will get angry in this work?
A: Actually, it is not in this movie but in an episode where Conan made 2 or 3 request to Haibara that made her angry. There is this list of souvenirs like manju etc. too that I planned (laugh). But I thought that if there are things to cut its that part. Although it was unfortunate!.
Q: Haibara is a special character, right? Even her birth has meaning to it. There are lots of people who admire her too. Is there a possibility that she will fall in-love with someone?
A: Although she is a member of the Detective Boys and speak in a cool manner. Lately there is someone she admires, however that`s just admiration. But Haibara too is in love. (laugh).
"About the deception of sub-characters/police officers."
Q: Even though they aren`t main characters the Police officers in Detective Conan are still important characters. Which part of them you pay more attention to when working on them?
A: I`m trying not to lie. For example, in old Detective dramas the detectives gives command like "Hand this over to the forensics", however when I conducted an interview with the Metropolitan Police Department this wasn`t the case and they inform me that forensics are not Detectives subordinates. Which is why when I work on the detectives and forensics dialogues I always add "please" since the department is different.
Interviewer: Editorial Department ~ Imoto Saki
That`s all guys, sorry if its a long post. Hope you guys enjoyed reading it. Thanks!

Headcanon time~ Your fav Shinichi headcanons
OKAY I started this on my phone, but that was exhausting, so let’s do this again!
Grand Gesture Shinichi!!!  I know I list this every time, but I’m hoping eventually it’ll catch on.  XD  Shinichi loves to do BIG THINGS to make up for his easily distracted nature to show his loved ones he cares!  See:  “Will you wait for me?” he asks at the restaurant where is dad proposed to his mom.  “I like you,” he says, in a convoluted way, beneath Big Ben.  etc.
Look, I know we like to pretend that Shinichi is Exactly like Yuusaku, and for the most part it’s true.  But listen.  Shinichi is Dramatic.  Yuusaku is all subtlety.  Guess where he got THAT from?  Those deduction shows?  Yeah, that’s the Yukiko Influence.  He’s the son of a great actress.  Of course he’s a drama queen.  XD
Shinichi is sooo easily bored.  If he’s done or experienced something before, it loses it’s edge, and becomes boring.  So, sometimes, when people are talking, he just… stops listening.  It’s no one’s fault, but it is something that happens more and more as he gets older.
Kaito is never boring.  Kaito is mysteries and riddles and magic in the shape of a person.  Kaitou KID is shadows and enigmas and illusions.  Shinichi is never bored with Kaito or at heists.
Shinichi thinks Hakuba needs to loosen up a little.  Hakuba takes the letter of the law a lot more seriously than Shinichi.  Shinichi is CONSTANTLY flouting chain of command and proper evidence procedures.  (Hakuba would be HORRIFIED)
After being Conan, no matter how long it really is, Shinichi has a hard time stopping himself from calling her Ran-neechan when he needs something from her.  Also, he can’t help it, but he’s gotten used to seeing her as an older sister, which makes it a little difficult to see her as a girlfriend.  (The same goes for her, seeing Conan in him, even when he’s grown)
Shinichi goes on weird research binges all the time.  “I wonder when particular satellites pass over Japan?” he asks himself before spending the next several hours looking up all of the satellites that pass over Japan and what their call signs are.  Not to mention his weird Death Facts about murder methods and rates of decomp.
Shinichi HATES not understanding how something was done, so he can’t watch magic shows without taking them apart.  Sometimes, though, he tries.  For Kaito.  He’ll get it out of his system during the opening act so that he can turn it off (mostly) for Kaito’s tricks.
Shinichi’s favorite adaptation of Sherlock Holmes is the PBS Masterpiece Mystery series with Jeremy Brett.  However, he does enjoy the Robert Downey Jr. movies as well.  (I don’t know about any Japanese adaptations, so I’m sticking to the ones I know about in the U.S.)
Shinichi actually really enjoys reading Kamen Yaiba, even if he pretends he only reads it for the kids.  After he returns to his proper size, he keeps up with the manga “so he can talk to the kids about it.”  Haibara is the only one that knows he’s lying and just enjoys the series.

Hellooooooooo~ just your random det question of the day 😂 lmao. Not super explicit but I'm curious, do you headcanon any of the characters having any birthmarks, beauty marks or moles, scars or something of the like in particular? And if so... Where? 👀 (Have a great day btw!💜)
Aah Det sorry for the late reply! Thank you for the ask 💙✨ Actually none of my answers are explicit at all so, much wow HAHA
Beauty marks huh? When I read this for some reason Eri first entered my mind. Yep. HAHA. I can’t help but entertain the thought that she has a faint little mole on her nape directly below the hairline. It’s sexy, made even sexier with the fact that she always has her hair up and wears corporate attire... it’s, I can’t find the right word but it’s uh, compelling. Alluring. Makes her look very sophisticated and sexy. it screams, hell, this woman is one powerful attorney. If that makes sense? HAHA.
Also I personally can imagine Vermouth having a beauty mark below her right eye. I think it perfectly accentuates her sharp and beautiful blue eyes and adds an extra oomph to her good-looking face.
Ran, my girl Ran, has a cute mole on the bone of her right wrist. :3 No meaning whatsoever. She just has. HAHA.
As for scars, surely our three bois Shin, Heiji, and Kaito have some. ;) It is 99.9% canon for Shin and Heiji to have that one scar on the abdomen near the navel where you drew them! Apart from that, there’s gotta be some scar somewhere on Heiji’s forehead probably hidden behind the fringes, because he’s a busybody like that since he was young so he kept getting flicked on the head by Heizo lol.
Mm Kaito, the boy I headcanon with the most scars hahaha. Years of stealth and parkour resulted to this. He has a diagonal scar on his abdomen, on his left arm below his shoulder, a tender impression on his back because of his hang glider, a scar/stitch on his stomach for when he was injured in the Sun Halo case, below his right eye from the gunshot wound he received in Movie 3, etc. Srsly, it’s more unrealistic for him not to have those!
Scattered everywhere under that turtleneck, Okiya/Akai has lotsa scars too of course. Also Jodie, on her waist/hip area and thigh from the gunshot wounds in the Head-to-Head with BO arc.
I want to give one character a birthmark somewhere on the butt but I honestly don’t know who!! There must be someone! Do I give Shinichi one? LMAO

Emogust 15.08 — Twisted Fairytale
A/N: I don’t know if I twisted this right! As always, its KaiAo and HeiKazu and (mentioned) ShinRan. I’ve been longing to write something about Kaito and someone else aside from Aoko, Saguru, Shinichi, etc. So here ya go, platonic KaiZuha! :D Also idk the thought of him losing his cool is just overall comedic @mintchocolateleaves @sup-poki
"Fear not, for I am here to rescue you from your deadly slumber!" exclaims Kaito in triumph as he stands at the foot of the tower with one foot up on a tree stump, his dashing white cape billowing majestically in the breeze.
He’s not exactly expecting anything, but he certainly isn’t expecting a response. So when a girl with her hair up in a ponytail soon pokes her head out the window while stifling a yawn, he is majorly shocked.
"...Who are you?" shouts the girl in response, staring down at him with an eyebrow raised.
Kaito flinches as he takes in the sight of his princess, who has been known worldwide as Sleeping Beauty, but is very much awake. "Uh," he says lamely while squinting up at the window, "You're already awake?"
"Of course—I wake up every morning," she deadpans. "I've been doing that for the past eighteen years, in fact. Is there supposed to be something wrong with that?"
"Oh, good Lord, the spell was broken that early?" Kaito frowns, positively bewildered. "Does this mean… another prince got here earlier than me?"
"Well, I haven’t been getting any visitors at all, but Mother comes to visit once in a while. Actually, I shouldn't even be talking to strangers. Who the hell are you, anyway?" the girl questions warily.
"I should be asking you the same question," Kaito sighs in exasperation. "In fact, I have a lot more to ask. If you don't mind, I'll be coming up now. We need to talk."
Φ
He proceeds to spend the next half hour inching his way up the side of the tower with the help of a grappling hook fashioned from some rope and the metal frame of his father's old parasol, as the ponytailed princess watches rather amusedly from the window. (Wait, why is he even carrying his father's parasol again?)
Just as Kaito clambers onto the window sill, panting, the girl lunges at him and yanks him inwards into the tower, knocking him to the floor with an impressive martial art-like move and pinning him down with all her body weight.
"What the hell?" Kaito gasps, completely taken aback. "Is that really necessary? I'm here to rescue you!"
The girl leans down to take a good look at his face, still keeping a strong hold and him. He curses Fate for giving him such a violent princess.
"Oh, I'm sorry," She finally says after a rather long and awkward stare-down. She lets go of Kaito and stands up, dusting her skirt, looking a little sheepish. "It's just that...I've never had anyone aside from Mother in my tower before, it's a little... intimidating. Had to make sure you weren't going to kill me or anything." She adds, "Plus, I have a lot of spare time up here, so I've been practicing aikido."
Kaito winces as he slowly gets up from the floor, rubbing his elbows and knees. "That was a bit of an overreaction, if you ask me. Anyway, now that you know I'm not out to assassinate you, I'm Kaito, otherwise known as Prince of the Moonlight. And judging by the look on your face right now, you don't like the second name, so just call me Kaito."
"Very well. I'm Kazuha, but you might’ve heard people use my birth name—Rapunzel. Why do you need to rescue me, anyway?"
He vaguely gestures to the room they’re in. And for the first time, he notices her hair. More specifically, the length of her hair. It’s literally in a loop, occupying each corners of the room. "Well, I was sent here to rescue a sleeping princess, but right now, I'm just thoroughly confused by everything. And why the hell is your hair that long anyway? Your head must weigh a ton!”
She wisely chooses to ignore his last remarks. "Oh, Princess Aurora, you mean? Although we don’t call her that here, we call her Ran, because Aurora is a little bit too twisty of a word. She's in the next kingdom. I believe you've come to search in the wrong place." There's amusement written all over Kazuha's face at this point.
“No—wait. Sleeping Beauty is the princess that Prince Shinichi is tasked to find. I’m supposed to rescue the princess from the kingdom of Far Far Away, who like, transform as a human only between sunrise and sunset. If I remember correctly, her birth name is Fiona or something.” exclaims Kaito in desperation.
Kazuha walks to the window—the only window in her whole tower room, and points at the greenery even further away. “Then I think you’re looking for Princess Aoko!”
“What’s up with you princesses and your code names? Honestly you’re confusing me even more.” Kaito shakes his head in despair. Aurora, Ran. Fiona, Aoko. And what was Kazuha’s birth name again?
“That’s kind of the goal here, actually. We have to come up with a plan to throw off the bad guys. It’s worked pretty well so far! People come here bellowing things like ‘We’re here to kidnap you, Rapunzel’ and I simply tell them that I’m Kazuha, not Rapunzel. They’d always leave feeling very confused.” She laughs, obviously proud of her own accomplishment.
“Makes sense. So about Princess Aoko—”
“Right! She’s the only one who becomes an ogress during nighttime.”
“Ogress?!”
Kazuha laughes lightly. She’s having fun teasing this strange prince with his equally strange, messy hair. “Nope, I was joking. It’s just that she has poor eyesight, so she doesn’t really venture out during the night. Also, her tower is two more kingdoms over in that direction.”
"Are you kidding me?!" Kaito continues to talk to himself as he takes out his map to check his location. He proceeds to pull out his monocle from his breast pocket and puts it over his right eye to get a good look at his map. "I must’ve gotten the wrong map. Didn’t even notice it when it got switched. What kingdom are we in anyway? ... This is why I should start wearing my monocle more often."
Kazuha can see how compatible Aoko and Kaito would be. Heck, Kaito even has his own set of monocle. She wonders why Aoko is so adamant about revealing the fact about her eyesight to anyone.
Kaito rubs his temples. "I am so, royally, screwed. How am I supposed to reach there in a week? It took me a whole month to even get here!"
Kazuha honestly doesn't know what to say to this, so she just leans against the windowsill, tapping her foot while Kaito paces back and forth, eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he thinks and thinks.
“The Council of Kings won’t be pleased.” He murmurs to himself, angry at how he could’ve gotten his map switched. And to think that he’s not even a real prince! He’s just a thief with big ambitions, following in his father’s footsteps as the renowned KID. If the Kings find out that he’s failed his mission and the fact that he’s not a prince, he’s doomed to spend the rest of his life in a dungeon.
Kazuha woefully suggests, rubbing her eyes in an act of weariness. “Listen, I have an idea. Why don’t I just go back with you, and when we meet the other prince and your supposed princess, we can switch places. Aoko and I are pretty close, we often send letters to each other. I’m sure she will understand. Hm?”
"That might actually work, provided if Princess Aoko and whoever rescues her don’t get the castle first before we do." He agrees a little reluctantly.
"It’s settled then!" Kazuha cheers adorably, excitement very evident in her voice. “I’ve never been out of this tower before. Mother always says that the outside is full of evil and selfish people, but look at how it’s just so, so beautiful out there.”
Kaito smiles back at her. He’s heard that out of the three Tower Princesses, Rapunzel is the one who has been in the tower the longest, since she was taken away when she’s still a baby. “It is,” He agrees, making his way to the door, “I can guarantee you that you’re gonna love it.”
“Wait, Kaito! This tower doesn't have any stairs, in case you didn't know.”
"Okay. Easy, no worries. I have my most trusty grappling hook for us to use." He says with a dismissive wave of his hand. Years of being a thief gave him experience in climbing and maneuvering. He walks over to the window sill, peering outside. The grappling hook lies on the grass below.
“On second thoughts… you were saying something about no stairs?"
There’s a brief moment of silence as Kaito slumps his shoulders forward, like he’s giving up dealing with his life at this point. Seriously, when he volunteered for the Tower Princesses Rescue Mission, he didn’t think it’s going to be this challenging.
Kazuha sighs. "That’s what my hair is for.”
She joins him by the windowsill and attempts to throw her hair off her right shoulder and down the side of the tower. She’s pulling and pulling, and pulling, then pushing and pushing and pushing. And as Kaito watches in awe, he can’t help but notice how her hair seems to have a life of its own. Her hair is superbly smooth and silky, and he simply slides down with ease.
Far better than using his grappling hook.
“Also, your prince is a total dumbass. Good luck—you’re gonna need it when you finally meet him.”
For what it’s worth, he thinks, this Princess is quite entertaining. Their journey back will be fun.

I've heard many times that the couples Shinichi-Ran and Heiji-Kazuha are the same. What do you think about it? What are their main differences? Pd: I really fan of ShinRan, and I thank you for this blog.
Hello there anon, my fellow shinran fan! And I thank YOU for your nice words and for the ask!
Now... I just have to ask. Who the hell thinks ShinRan and HeiKazu are the same? It's the first time I see it even mentioned. I would understand if it was meant in the detectives/badasslady way, or if they were referencing that maybe some of their bickering reminds them of shinichi and ran, like in that one scene of movie 3.
Other than that... I don't see the similarities when it comes to dynamics between them. Shinichi and Heiji, and Ran and Kazuha are all too different from one another.
Heiji is all passionate but becomes soft and kinda thoughtful from time to time, when I see Shinichi being more of the opposite. Just look at their confessions, Heiji's has had built-up, he's actively trying to tell her he loves her but can't for one reason or another. Shinichi's was so out of the blue, no one was expecting it, possibly not even himself. Yes, he had tried to tell her a couple of times before like in Tropical Land or in Desperate Revival, but I mean it in the sense that when it comes to the actual confession in London... No one knew he was gonna do that, it came out of a moment of desperation and strong feelings of love and frustration and fear that he was going to lose Ran after a serious fight. One would've expected Heiji to confess in the way Shinichi did (I sure did), but he's actually taking his time in planning it all out and trying to make it PERFECT (his competition with Shinichi also has to do with this, but it can also count as something in which they digress.) which is really sweet and cute. While Shinichi stood his ground and was asking Ran for an answer to his confession in Kyoto and later went on to straight up kiss her (AGAIN, a heat of the moment kinda thing), Heiji was kind of running away from Kazuha questioning him why he called her "My Kazuha", etc.
And the girls are also really different when it comes to their relationship with the guys, Ran is so sweet, so thoughtful, so patient, so caring.... But can put her foot down when she's done. She tried to prove that Conan=Shinichi facing him straight on. Telling him to his face. And she knows perfectly how to stop him from acting like a jerk. Kazuha is all about bravado and showing she's as strong as Heiji, about poking at him just as much as he does with her, fighting back and bickering with him. She demands Heiji explain himself twice when it comes to his feelings, when they got abducted, and when he called her "his Kazuha". She didn't get a proper answer, but it wasn't for lack of trying on her part.
I don't know man, I'm tired and sleepy, I don't know where I'm going with this... But my point is- They're really fucking different.

#THIS IS AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP#WHY DO YOU LOVE IT SO MUCH#besides she would be better with shinichi...#gin#can die for all I care
[PROFUSELY SWEATS]
I’m not sure if the question ‘why do you love it so much’ is rhetorical or not but I do feel like I should answer anyways since you reblogged from me?
Just a disclaimer that this is NOT intended as a personal attack to you, but just an overall comment towards many things i’ve seen in the fandoms. I don’t think you commented out of malice and I myself tend to get mouthy towards things I dont’ like. So hopefullly we can still be cool after this.
But you do realize that I ship ginsherry too, right? I actually ship arguably all the shiho ships (higo/kaito/shinichi/gin/ran/amuro/etc etc) even tho, well, co/ai or shin/shi IS my OTP. With all due respect, that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy other sideships for my own amusement?
I mean the question “why do you ship x pairing when it’s clearly abusive” is a question that every fandom has. Every single fandom. No fandom is free from this evil. There will always be a couple with a dysfunctional, unhealthy relationship that a group of people dig and the rest of the fandom glares at for whatever reason. But I think internet culture has brought social justice a little too far, and policing or judging other people’s likes and kinks or whatever is a little... well, uncalled for.
If I had a dime for every time I was told "But you’re condoning violence/abuse/underage/etc!” , “You’re a (bad thing) apologist!”, honestly...
I don’t know why people are under the idea that liking something fictional is condoning it in real life? But when it comes to stuff like Toky.o Gh.oul and people are like ‘that’s my baby boy eating humans’ then no one gives a flying fuck or gets called out for ‘condoning/supporting/promoting cannibalism’. I mean, the double standards are pretty unfair if you ask me.
See, most of the time people don’t like a ship because they want everyone else to become like that. That’s not the main reason for shipping something. Some people like the aesthetics. Some people like their history. Some people relate.
Me, personally, I relate.
Miyano Shiho is, no secret, my favorite character of all time. She has been for quite a while, and one of the reasons why I love her so much is because she’s so damn relatable. In every aspect. If you omit the child-genius part of her character and strip it down to everything else, you can realize just how human her character is. She deals (or doesn’t) with depression by being cold and detached or worst, suicidal. She seems so strong and uncaring but in moments of vulnerability, she calls an answering machine just to hear her sister’s voice. She is terrified of the BO to the point of disassociating, as any normal person under deadly circumstances would be (because we can’t all be heroes, and we can’t all be fearless. Some of us are just weak and scared for our lives. Some of us are just human). And the unrequited love. Oh, God. The unrequited love. And she takes the hit like a champ and moves on from it because she knows she can’t. So she won’t. Miyano Shiho is flawless in every sense. She’s demure and kind and intelligent, but insert a crush (sideglances at Higo)  and she’s as petty as your next teenager girl. And I love her for all of this, because of her flaws that make her so human.
So Gin, where does Gin fit in all this?
Gin represents a part of lost innocence and terrible, terrible choices. That’s the part where I relate. Because even someone like Shiho, the genius scientist, the prodigy child who could do no wrong, made a string of bad choices along her life. And this is not something she was forced into, like the development of the aptx4869. This dubious romance thing is something she walked into on her own accord. And it’s something that ruined her because of a choice she made and she regrets. She REGRETS.
I ship ginsherry because i dont’ think it was abusive pre aptx. I genuinely think it was a mutual romantic relationship that went south. Because of Gin’s actions. He McFreaking lost her the moment he shot Akemi. And since he lost her, to him she might as well be dead. He’s just that kind of person. And now she sees it, a little too late. This is the part where I relate the most, actually. Because I’ve been there and I’ve made questionable choices in the past, and sometimes you don’t see a person’s true colors until they end up hurting you beyond repair. It’s not just bad judgment over a person’s character; it’s just love until it isn’t anymore. Until it turns into something else. Hatred. Or indifference.
I genuinely don’t think that it was abusive when they were together. Not in a ‘he forced her/mentally/physically abused her/hurt her’ in any way. I will not believe it until there is canon proof otherwise (Again, I’m talking about PRE-APTX). I’ve been in an emotionally abusive relationship before, when I was way too young to understand what that was. It was kind of passive-aggressive thing. I was stripped of my self-worth and self-esteem and made felt like I was a worthless person, that I couldn’t  do it out on my own. And I don’t think Shiho would ever subject herself to being treated like that (If you ask me, she would be the one to give Gin a hard time, all the time. Which I find hilarious because imagine the syndicate’s top rank assassin being a soft ball of fluff for her ---before he goes psycho after her ‘betrayal’).
So yea, that’s all I have to say with regards to “ginsherry is abusive”.
TL;DR: People enjoy unconventional things for other reasons than living by the rules of it. I am not preaching this ship as a religion. I am not saying they are the way couples should behave. I merely enjoy the dynamic, aesthetic and poetic tragedy about it.
P.S: I am also a sucker for could-have-been’s so there’s that too.
