Ayaka Kamisato: Was introduced to the cult by her brother, and joined alongside him shortly after their parents died. Spends a lot of her time organizing or hosting events for the members living in the Shrine of Inazuma. When the adults were instructed to move out, she was permitted to stay due to her young age, but left anyway to be with her brother. Currently lives in a penthouse with him and Thoma in one of Teyvat City's tallest towers.
Ayato Kamisato: Was introduced to the cult by Ei Raiden herself when he was young, but didn't join until after his and Ayaka's parents died. Spends a lot of time managing the Shrine of Inazuma's funds, creates/updates/destroys rules within the Shrine of Inazuma, and makes appointments with the other factions of The Creator's Grace. When told to move out, he got a penthouse for him, Ayaka, and Thoma to live in. Currently works as a Yashiro Party Politian.
Balladeer Skirmisher: Was introduced to the cult by his mother, the original Ei Raiden, when he was just a kid. Was left neglected by his family after his mother was appointed as an Archon, which resulted in him being neglected by the rest of The Shrine of Inazuma. In anger, he ran away from the cult, and later managed to make himself a new life as a government agent. Was re-introduced to the cult when it came on his team's radar, and is now 'investigating' it. Currently lives a couple blocks from Zhongli's job.
Dainsleif Bough: Was introduced to the cult by Zhongli during his college years, and was one of the original members. Impulsively left after realizing it was a cult, and has since been trying to figure out a way to bring it down.
Ei Raiden: Was introduced to the cult, alongside her sister Makoto, by Zhongli himself. And joined after realizing she had fallen in love with him. Missed her opportunity to become Archon due to indoctrinating nine less people than her sister, much to her disappointment. But was elected as a new archon by Morax shortly after her sister mysteriously disappeared, presumably to meet Their Grace early. Shortly after, she started secluding herself so she could channel Their Grace and hopefully gain Morax's love.
Ei Raiden: Was introduced to the cult by her mother, the original Ei Raiden, when she was just a kid. After her mother was selected to be Inazuma's Archon, she decided to seclude herself to channel Their Grace. So, she was selected to act as her mother's face, and in doing so, earned herself the position of High Priestess. Still lives in the Shrine of Inazuma.
Gorou Watatsumi: Was introduced to the cult by Kokomi, and joined shortly after graduating from police academy. Spends his time teaching the teens and kids physical exercises. Now works as a Captain for Teyvat City's Fourteenth Precinct. Currently lives with Kokomi and some other Believers on the poorer side of Teyvat City.
Heizou Shikanoin: Was introduced to the cult by his boss, Sara Kujou, but didn't join until after he was betrayed by his childhood friend. Spends his time solving any questions his fellow Believers could be having. Currently works as a detective within the TCPD's Twelfth Precinct. Currently lives alone in an apartment a five-minute walk away from work.
Itto Arataki: Was saved by the cult back when he was a troubled teen, and joined shortly thereafter. And although that was years ago, he still stirs up a lot of trouble within the Shrine of Inazuma- mainly with a gang of Believers, who he works with at Arataki Security. A non-official company that will protect and/or get (reasonable) revenge for their clients. Refuses to move out of The Shrine of Inazuma.
Kazuha Kaedehara: Was introduced to the cult by his friend, Tomo, and joined for both new experiences and an easier life. Spends most of his time making poems about Their Grace, or taking the teens and kids on adventures. Typically goes from job to job, but has currently settled for being the First Mate on the SS Alcor. Now sleeps either on the ship, or at The Temple of Liyue.
Kirara: Was saved by the cult back when she was an orphan in the foster care system, and joined shortly thereafter. Like Aether, she spends her time delivering packages between the various compounds. But unlike Aether, she only makes deliveries from The Shrine of Inazuma, not to it. Due to her age, she doesn't have to move out of The Shrine of Inazuma.
Kokomi Sangonomiya: Was introduced to the cult by Ei when she was a child, and later joined with her parents. After joining, she worked her way up to the position of Priestess. Spends most of her time either coming up with schedules for her fellow Believers or figuring out what each kid within The Shrine of Inazuma needs to learn. Currently lives with Gorou and some other believers on the poorer side of Teyvat City.
Lumine Via: Was introduced to the cult by Amber when her brother, Aether, first ended up in his coma. And she joined a few months later; bringing her niece Payton Paimon along with her. Originally spent her time spreading the word of Their Grace, but has recently been told everything Morax has said is a lie. For her own protection, she had to go into hiding, and is currently planning on how to save her niece. Doesn't know that her brother has joined the cult.
Miko Yae: Was introduced to the cult by Ei and Makoto during her college years, and joined shortly after. There, she worked her way up to be the first Shrine Maiden. Spends her time giving advice to her fellow Believers, or playing small tricks on them. Is the founder and owner of the Yae Publishing House. As a worker for The Shrine of Inazuma, she didn't have to move out of The Shrine of Inazuma, and so she hasn't.
Sara Kujou: Was introduced to the cult by a Tenryou Party politician when she was a child and joined shortly after he adopted her. Spends her time trying to gain High Priestess Ei's attention, and doing everything she says. Currently works as the Captain of Teyvat City's Twelfth Precinct. Currently lives perfectly in between her job and The Shrine of Inazuma.
Sayu Shuumatsuban: Was introduced to the cult by Ayato back when she was a child, but didn't join until she ran away from her abusive family at age thirteen. Spends some of her time gathering information from other Believers. But spends most of her time sleeping, thinking it will help her grow, despite what several doctors within The Creator's Grace have told her. Due to still being a teenager, she's allowed to stay in The Shrine of Inazuma.
Shinobu Kuki: Was introduced to the cult by Sara, and later joined after having a falling out with her family. After joining, she dedicated herself to becoming a Shrine Maiden. And while she gained the rank, she eventually abandoned it so she could focus on keeping some new friends, Itto and his gang, out of trouble. In terms of living conditions, she is currently bouncing between sleeping in a homeless shelter and sleeping in The Shrine of Inazuma- despite not having permission to stay there.
Thoma Fix: Was introduced to the cult when The Shrine of Inazuma saved his life and joined shortly after. As thanks, he spends his time fixing various problems his fellow Believers might experience. Which in turn got him a job as a secretary for Ayato Kamisato, who doubles as a housekeeper for him and Ayaka. Both of whom he lives with in a penthouse Ayato bought.
Yoimiya Naganohara: Was introduced to the cult by Itto, but didn't join until she had a bad fallingout with her less-than-reliable father. Spends her time making toys for the teens and kids of The Shrine of Inazuma. Currently owns a business named Naganohara Family Fireworks, and provides all members of the cult an eighty percent discount; mainly because the cult rarely buys her fireworks in the first place. Currently refuses to move out of The Shrine of Inazuma.

No Turning Back
Working for the Kamisato Clan was no easy task, nor was living so far away from home. Thankfully, you're surrounded by people who care about and support you much to your dismay at times. Still, they'll always remind you that no matter what you're going through you will never have to face it alone.

These first couple chapters are mostly just setting up for everything I have planned moving forward, there will be some slight spoilers for anyone who isn't caught up but they will be tagged accordingly. This fic is very self indulgent and somewhat of a vent piece but nothing extreme will be touched on here. Gender Neutral pronouns used for reader so that anyone can enjoy.

Chapter 1: The Gardener
Kamisato Ayato, head of the Kamisato clan and current leader of the Yashiro commission, was Inazuma's most handsome smooth talker. A distant man with a multitude of servants who would happily oblige his every command. He was a strong leader, merciful and kind. Sly as a fox and quick witted, the perfect commander. Though he would never dream of ordering his people to do anything he didn't seem absolutely necessary, they would happily follow him to the ends of the Earth and back. You, of course, were no different from the rest in that regard. You followed his every order without hesitation, assisting in your duties no matter what they entailed. Really though, that rarely ever involved much more than tending to the garden at the estate.
It was a simple job, good pay and a place that provided a roof over your head. This was more than enough to keep your family happy knowing that their eldest child was safe and sound. Even if it meant you were separated by a vast ocean. As travelling merchants they could do little to support you, and knowing you were in good hands was the best they could ever hope for. What you hadn't expected upon taking the job, however, was the liking that the commissioner had taken to you almost immediately.
Perhaps it was your gentle smile, or maybe it was something about the way your delicate hands moved against the flowers with such grace and ease that had drawn him in. But your charm, your wit, and your sarcastic nature always kept him coming back for more. Even if his visits with you were limited to short chats in the garden it was easy for any outsider to tell that he didn't treat you the way he treated the other servants, much to their dismay.
This was something Thoma and Ayaka would tease you endlessly about. You'd known the pair for some time now, Thoma being the one who had initially assisted you in securing the job here. Though Lady Akaya was much more subtle with her words when teasing, well aware of her duties to uphold her reputation. It was as you pondered this thought that you felt a cool chill run up your spine. Without looking up you knew immediately who it was.
"Good afternoon [Name]" her timid voice greeted you.
"Lady Ayaka," you smiled, "out for a stroll?"
She smiled, the corners of her lips twitching up in delight as she stood a polite distance away. "I wanted to come say hello to you. You've been working all morning, I thought perhaps you could use a break." It was not often that she had time available to come and see you, so she cherished every moment that she could spare to spend with you in the garden. Usually it was during the later hours when most of the staff had turned in for the night but today she had finished her training early.
"Oh, I'm not sure if I should, my lady. I have quite a bit more work to do before the sun sets..." You replied, though your hands slowed their careful work. Perhaps it was rude to decline such an offer, you wondered as your hands stilled. Still, you could feel the eyes of passers by digging into your back as she stopped to speak to you. This, you recalled, was the reason you kept your distance these days… or at least that’s what you told yourself. The others would often accuse you of getting special treatment from your bosses. No one likes a teacher’s pet.
"Please, I insist." She replied with a wave of her hand. "I'm sure the flowers can wait. After all, we have time before the sun sets tonight. Why don't you come join me for tea?"
You nodded then, understanding that there was no use in attempting to shake her off today. Either you would remain stubborn enough for her to back down with a deflated look that made your stomach churn, or you would give in and suffer through the sideways glances and hushed whispers from the other servants and guests at the estate. There was no winning this battle, and there was no point either. "With pleasure, my lady." Though the two of you were close, it was in your best interest to keep your friendship on the down low lest the other servants resent you for it.
After gathering up your equipment and setting it aside you followed her inside to a room away from all the prying eyes. "How have you been today, my lady?" You inquired as she motioned for you to have a seat with her.
Ayaka sighed softly, knowing that no matter how many times she told you that it was fine to call her by name you would keep up this polite façade. Especially when you weren't completely in private. The memory of speaking to you through a screen in the early days of your friendship was fresh in her mind and these days it was almost as though it had never left. The thought made her chest ache in a way she wasn't fond of. She refused to dwell on it for long. "Good," the pale girl replied with a half-hearted smile. Had you met in any other manner, perhaps it wouldn't be this difficult for you.
"I was hoping you might join us for dinner tonight." Her words were chosen carefully, well aware that you would hesitate to accept her offer. The walls that you were slowly building around yourself not only made her uneasy, but concerned as well. When you opened your mouth to speak she cut you off before you could decline, speaking in that same hopeful tone only with a hint of more urgency this time. "Thoma will be joining as well, and I'm sure my brother would be happy to see you."
She watched your expression as you pondered the idea. Of course it was fine, but your status worried you as well... you didn't want to inadvertently taint the Kamisato reputation with your presence. But you could see the sparkle in her eyes when she invited you, and with another bow of your head you responded. "I'd be honoured."
After all, it would be rude to decline such an offer from your boss, would it not? You wondered if the others would care at all, or if they would simply see it as yet another way you were trying to weasel yourself into a position of unearned power over them. This, of course, was not your intention. It was not often that you would indulge in such things as you'd spent much of your life barely scraping by. It was not an easy task by any means, but it was what you were used to. In a way it was much more comfortable than your cosy little room here at the estate with sheets fresh and pillows fluffed
"It will be nice to be able to catch up. After all, I have missed your company these days." Ayaka replied tentatively. She had picked up early on on how you'd withdrawn recently, and she feared that your friendship was slipping away like sand through her fingers. "It's been a while."
You sighed then, feeling your heart flip in your chest. You bowed your head a moment as you understood the motive behind her invitation. "I'm sorry... I'm just...." You couldn't find the words. When the silence had stretched on long enough that it was clear you had no intention of ending that sentence she finished the thought for you, as if it were clear to everyone but you.
"Homesick?"
A nod from you was the only confirmation you could muster.  "You know... You can take time off to go see your family, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem with Ayato-"
"I can't." You admitted, expanding on that before she could protest. "I wouldn't know what to say." Perhaps you weren't ready, or maybe you couldn't bear the thought of your parents' reaction to the person you had become in your absence. Your cheeks burned when you realised you had cut her off, quickly stuttering out a soft apology. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to bother you with my own petty drama."
"But we're friends, [Name]. I can tell you anything and I would hope that you might trust me enough to do the same for me." Her eyebrows knit together subtly as her concern grew. This couldn't have been easy for you. Though your situation was quite different, she'd seen the way that Thoma would get when he was feeling a similar sort of longing for your shared hometown. "They would understand." She assured you as she reached forward, her dainty hands cupping yours gently. "Mondstat is the land of freedom after all... Why shouldn't they be proud of you for expressing the will of your Archon?"
You could feel the tears welling up in your eyes as she spoke. "Could we maybe talk about something else... for now?"
With a sad smile, she nodded. "Of course."
The two of you continued on shortly after that, changing the subject with ease and slipping into something much more comfortable. The two of you spoke more about what you'd been up to lately, and caught up briefly while you wrapped up your break. She had been busy with her seemingly never ending training, you with your detailed work in the gardens.
Ayaka always said the roses always looked better after you worked, as if your loving hands coaxed them out of their buds and into the brilliant bursts of colour they were now. You had a way with them, which made it much easier for the siblings to find excuses to keep you here at the estate. No one else could do the work you do, Ayato would say if anyone dared question your living situation, Thoma was always quick to back him up, you were a valuable staff member after all. For who would look after the grounds if it weren't for you? Certainly not Thoma with his schedule, Ayaka and Ayato certainly couldn't. You are irreplaceable aside from your skill, but the way you worked with the garden made it easier to squash any debates about your standing.
Once your work was finished for the day you retired to your living quarters in order to ready yourself for dinner tonight. Even after taking your time to chat with Ayaka you had managed to finish your work early, earning you just enough time to lay in your bed and contemplate your earlier discussion. Why, you wondered, did you have to be so painfully lucky here. Why did she have to notice? But of course, the Kamisatos were nothing if not kind and compassionate. It was easier here, you thought to yourself with a huff. There was no need to tiptoe around the matter, here you didn't have to put on a show for anyone. Save for the occasional side eye from the guards, you were free to be utterly and completely yourself.
Perhaps this was why the thought of going back to Mondstat was so troublesome. After all this time, you were still afraid and yet you couldn't completely grasp /why/. Your family was happy for you, supportive of the life that you had made for yourself here and the name you carried on.  Your gaze fluttered over to the stack of unopened letters on your bedside table as you were lost in thought. The envelopes all addressed to a person you no longer recognized as yourself. It made your chest tighten the more you thought about it and you brushed the notion away with a turn of your body once more. You'd write them tomorrow, you convinced yourself despite the fact that you'd said it many times before.
Thankfully, you didn't have much time to be alone with your thoughts tonight. You wondered for a moment if your friend knew and if that happened to be a part of the reason why she had invited you out tonight. It didn't take much wondering until you realised that that was precisely why Ayaka had chosen today to invite you. It seemed that perhaps her good looks were not the only thing she had in common with her brother, but of course you knew that already. You cursed yourself internally as you stripped off your uniform so that you might be able to rid yourself of the day's troubles.
It was at that moment that you heard the door of your room slide open.
Your head whipped around in an instant, arms flying up in an effort to cover yourself with a gasp. Before it slammed shut again you caught a glimpse of The Chief Retainer of the Kamisato Clan's face, silently cursing himself for having been so clumsy.
"I-I I'm sorry!" He stammered out from beyond the thin partition. Though you could only just barely see his silhouette but you could tell that he had his head in his hands.
"Don't you ever knock?!" You practically squeaked back at him, still frozen in your awkward position from earlier. Too stunned to move, too embarrassed to break the silence that grew between the two of you, you stood there like a statue. Silently, you prayed to Celestia that he would just go away and leave you to wallow in self pity.
The Archons, however, were not so kind. Either your prayers were heard and quickly cast aside or you simply hadn't prayed hard enough because the blonde broke the silence shortly afterwards.
"I'm sorry, I tried calling out to you a few times but you didn't answer and I was worried something might be wrong, I... I can come back later if that's alright with you..." His voice slowly fell away, trailing off into the distance despite him not moving a muscle as he waited for you to respond.
Damn it. Now it was your turn to curse yourself. Of course, you must have been too lost in thought to notice when he'd called out to you. Of course that was not something uncharacteristic of you in times like these. It was almost scary how well you were able to tune the world out as you fell deeper and deeper into the thoughts that threatened to consume you at times. "I'm sorry, I must have been distracted... Just... Just let me get dressed." Those words must have left your mouth without your permission as you cringed internally at them. Why did you have to say that? You should have lied, told him you were sick and that you couldn't come to dinner tonight.
Ayaka would understand. You didn't want to face him now, especially not knowing how much of you he had actually seen in the brief moment the door had been open. Unfortunately you couldn't take it back now, lest you risk worrying him further. Hesitating a moment as you considered your options, you reluctantly changed into your best clothes for dinner tonight, taking a moment to fix up your hair in the process.
“You can come in now.” You said as you poked your head out through the opening, putting on a polite little smile as you opened the sliding door to your living quarters.
Thoma greeted you with a bright smile, cheeks still flushed a brilliant pink from earlier. “Sorry about-” You stopped him, gently placing a finger to his lips in order to shut him up. “Please, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” A bold faced lie, but he accepted it without complaint. Only a soft sound of agreement and a slight nod before you took your hand away. An awkward silence fell once more between the two of you as you waited for what he had to say to you. After all, it isn’t everyday that Ritou’s fixer comes knocking at your door.
“I didn’t see anything-”
“Thoma.”
“Sorry…”
He looked away from you again and if you didn’t know any better you could swear he was lying to make you feel better. You didn’t want to think about that either, the thought made you nauseous and stirred up butterflies you’d rather not address. “Did you need something?”
“ Oh! ” It was like he’d snapped out of a trance, suddenly returning to his usual bubbly self. “I have to run into town and pick up some things for Lord Kamisato and I was wondering if you might like to accompany me for the walk.” The blond smiled, that same hopeful look in his eyes that Ayaka had earlier. With a sigh, you wondered if perhaps she had put him up to this. The thought caused you to deflate a bit, that heavy feeling in your chest growing for a reason you couldn’t put your finger on. “It’s okay if you’d rather be alone for now, I just thought it might be fun to have some company for once.” That was true, however it had been some time since you had left the estate and he was beginning to think that some time outside might be good for you.
“Ah- I…” You searched for some sort of excuse but your mind drew a blank. “I’d be happy to.”

I can't wait to write more for this one, I really hope you guys enjoy <3 If it's not super obvious, the reader is implied to be trans but I wanted everyone to be able to read regardless of gender identity so I tried to keep it a little more vague here. Depending on how it's received I may make it more obvious going forward.

"I'd kindly recommend you shut the fuck up." One bandit spoke as Ayaka was nearly pushed into the boat that slowly was sent into the foggy waters. Two rowed the small group out as they left the main island of Inazuma behind, making for one of the more secluded islands.
Nearly thirty minutes until they made landfall as the boat met a sudden stop, beached until the girl was grabbed and hoisted up again. Carried until they stopped and she was set down, the bag reached for and unceremoniously yanked off her light blue haired head.
A tent with a few of the bandits that initially kidnapped her, plus what seemed to be an old, woodcarved seat wherein a taller man sat. He looked her over, the old ronin robes on him as he leaned forward and eyed Ayaka up and down,
"Hm. Couldn't have gotten mora, I guess." He waved a hand, no matter. "How much you think she'd be worth? Her brother would likely pay nicely to get her back." One spoke as the 'leader' shot a glare, then back to the restrained girl,
"You did take two of my boys out - so what should they get in return?" He trailed off looking her over, the four men having a more sinister air, "So long as you don't kill or maim her we should get the full value for a ransom." One piped up as the chief huffed, reaching down to grasp at her chin and try to force her to look up,
"Mmh, I think I like her - So little Kamisato princess, which will it be; be my toy until your family pays up, or my boys for killing our brothers back there?"
Akaya flinched at the man's words but silenced herself. She was so unused to not being spoken to with respect. Her people respected and loved her but these men only saw her as a means to make money.
The trip felt like it was taking forever. She was scared, and didn't know where they were taking her. The silence was driving her crazy. All she could hear was the splashing of water and then the sudden thump of them reaching landfall. She yelped again as she was lifted up and thrown over a man's shoulder like she was an object. If only she could fight back...
The princess flinched and blinked her eyes a few times when the back was yanked off her head when she was sat down. She looked around, fearful, seeing that she was deep inside a bandit camp. It seemed she was far from home and wouldn't know where to begin when it came to making her way back. Their talk of what to do with her made her shiver. Her eyes landing on the leader when he cupped her chin and forced her to look at him,
"Would raping me not count as damaging me?" Ayaka responded, pressing her lips together at the choices she was given. Neither were good choices but one sounded much better than the other, "You... I'd rather be your toy..." She finally replied, looking defeated, and not looking forward to what was going to happen to her.

5 for the dialogue prompt thing w/ uhh ayaka and lumine perhaps
thanks, bestie. You're the realest.
((Based on the my headcannon that Raiden Shogun takes your team's visions the first time you fight her, and it has some....catastrophic results.)
5. “This isn’t your fault, okay? I promise.”
It was raining. Thundering, harder than Lumine had ever seen it rain anywhere. She'd been to countless worlds, seen the richest skies. Felt thunderstorms underneath her and her brother as they sailed above the clouds. Had them pound around her while the two of them looked for shelter.
None were ever this bad.
Every time the sky roared, she wanted to scream. She wanted to cry. Her heart just kept beating faster and faster, and the electric pain that was shooting up her arm into her shoulder was nearly unbearable. Her breath was shorter. She couldn't breathe. She didn't know what to do. What was she supposed to-?
"This isn't your fault, okay? I promise."
Her head snapped up, eyes wide as tears mixing with the raindrops streaming down her cheeks. In front of her was Ayaka, her usually such perfect hair soaked in the storm, heavy and thick. Lumine's own was sticking unattractively to the sides of her face, but she couldn't have cared less.
Ayaka's face was uncharacteristically lined with worry, and in her stupor, Lumine thought that she'd do nearly anything to make her happy again.
She grasped at her arm, which still felt like it was on fire. "I'm-I'm- I don't-"
"Lumine, it's okay." She said again. She put her hand out, brushing Lumine's own hand off of her shoulder. Her eyes grew, horrified.
"I-It all happened so fast, I-I don't-"
"Lumine, it wasn't"
Her voice was cut off, drowned out by the sound of violent shouting and the sound of heavy boots echoing against the stone streets. They were only seconds away from finding them.
Behind her, she heard a whimper. Turning her head, she saw Bennett, looking around with terrified eyes, clinging to Barbara, who's face was dull. Behind them, Kaeya wrapped himself in his own arms, a panicked and unknowing expression behind his eyes.
Lumine turned back to Ayaka, her voice shaking with panic. "Sh-she took their visions. Sh-she took Xiangling, I don't know what to do, I don't-"
"You have to go." Behind Ayaka, Thoma stood, peering towards the front of the teahouse and listening to the sounds of the soldiers approaching. "I can hide in the teahouse, but-"
"No, she can't!" The tiny voice of her floating companion protested, "She's hurt. There's no way-"
"She doesn't have a choice." Thoma said, a truly sorry look on his face.
Lumine nodded, taking a step back. "R-right. Okay."
Ayaka still looked as though she wanted to protest, but eventually she nodded. "You have to find the resistance. On Watatsumi Island. Kokomi is the leader. Tell her-"
A loud banging was heard inside the teahouse. Surely, the soldiers would burst through the back door any second.
"You have to go-" Thoma insisted. "Now."
Ayaka gazed back up at her, her face still tight. Quickly, she placed her hand on Lumine's cheek, pulling her close and pressing their foreheads together.
"I'm so sorry." She whispered.
Then, they both pulled away. Lumine turned around, grabbing Barbara and Kaeya's hand, making sure Bennett was in tow. She pushed foward, guiding them forward over the small stone wall that lined the outside patio of the teahouse.
"I'm scared." Bennett said, his voice so incredibly small. She'd never heard him like that.
Babara coughed, her face weak and pale. "I-it's okay, Bennett. Don't worry."
"Somebody please tell me what's going on..." She heard Kaeya's voice behind them shaking like she'd never heard it before. "I-I don't remember who you are, I don't know who I am. Why are we running?"
She bit her lip, her eyes nearly blurring over with tears.
Nearly as soon as she'd stepped over the wall, she heard a soldier's voice shouting at her to stop. Grimacing at the pain in her shoulder, she ran forward, holding tight to her friends hands.
It felt like fire running up and down her body when she moved. She could barely breathe. She could barely see through the tears and the rain. But she ran. Ran as fast as she possibly could, holding tight to the friends she still had left. The ones who were scared, confused, and sick. The ones she was supposed to protect.
Ayaka's voice echoed in her mind. "This isn't your fault, okay? I promise."
She didn't for a second believe her.

The stem of the dandelion Thoma gave you is the first thing you see every morning. You set it on your nightstand so you can start your day in a good mood.
You haven't seen Thoma since that night, partially because you both are very busy people, and partially because you're not sure how to talk to him anymore. Things were easy when you hated him, but you aren't so sure you hate him anymore...
Dare you say, you like him?
Ignoring your feelings, you start your day off as normal, by opening your shop. You unlock the register, counting your money as you usually do, and restock your items so you were ready for the day.
Anticipating a busy day, since it was a Friday, you made sure there were no distractions. That means no thoughts of Thoma taking your hand, or thoughts of Thoma gazing at your with such admiration, or thoughts of Thoma risking his job just for you, no. No thoughts what-so-ever.
Inazuma City starts to pile with people as the day went on, some people even gushing over how cute you and Thoma are. It was usually older ladies, and since this wasn't the largest town, word got around fast.
A guilty pit in your stomach resided every time someone brought the two of you up. You smiled and laughed with the older ladies, but deep down, you felt awful. Though you weren't sure if it was because you knew the relationship wasn't real, or because Thoma didn't actually like you. You knew the sham was just to get Kamisato Ayato off his back. Thoma was just using you, as you were him.
You couldn't be mad. It was your idea.
"Hey there!" A familiar chirpy voice rang through your ears, causing you to freeze up.
"T-Thoma?!" You stare dumbfounded at him. You haven't mentally prepared to see him today, and his schedule is usually packed on Fridays.
"Well hello too." He chuckles, leaning on the register. "I'm actually here on business, believe it or not."
You gulp nervously, mentally punching yourself for acting so weird in front of him. "Business you say? Are the Kamisatos requesting something from my shop?"
He nods in response. "Yes, but don't worry, I won't haggle you down this time."
"What? Because you're my 'boyfriend'?" You tease.
"Precisely." He smiles, winking at you.
You usually never succumbed to Thoma's teasing, but recently, it's been harder to keep a straight face. You felt your cheeks burn as he said that to you.
"Well, as your partner, I would feel bad giving this full price."
"Oh come on, Y/N." Thoma lowers his voice so only you could hear it. "You don't actually have to do that for me."
You shake your head. "Yes I do. If not as a partner, then as my... Friend?" You felt stupid to be wary of calling Thoma your friend, but you really didn't know if he saw you as anything more than a pawn in his plan.
You see his cheeks lightly dust pink from blushing. Flustered, he smiles at you. "Of course we're friends."
You feel your heart jump. "Then it's settled." Smiling, you gather everything Thoma needed, dropping the price down 80 percent.
"W-Woah." Thoma stutters, eyes widening at the low price. "I said you can give me a discount, this feels like I'm stealing from you."
"Nonsense." You wave him off. "It's fine. I really don't mind."
Thoma sighs, knowing he can't win this battle, and hands you the money. "You really, really didn't have to do that."
"I know." You say, placing the money in the register. "But... You've helped me a lot. With my mom. So it's the least I could do."
"Oh! That reminds me. Tomorrow is the dinner, you didn't forget, did you?"
You tried not to show the panic in your face, because you did indeed forget. "O-Of course not." You stuttered, trying not to cause Thoma any anxiety. "I remembered! It's at 5, right?"
He nods. "Yup. It's kind of a big deal, do you need help picking out an outfit? I do it for Lady Ayaka quite often."
Thinking of the your wardrobe, you really didn't have many nice outfits, but you would simply rather pass away than have Thoma see you trying clothes on.
"I got something." You lied. You really had to go shopping. "Trust me, it's perfect."
"If you say so." He grabs the items he just purchased from you. "Well thank you, again. See you tomorrow?"
You nod. "Of course. See you tomorrow, Thoma."
-
After a miserable shopping experience with your mother, you took matters into your own hands and picked out an outfit yourself. It was black and trimmed with lace and silver. You exuded a darker energy, very opposite of Thoma, and this dress felt like it truly belonged to you.
Your mother, though the devil at times, saw your anxiety about the dinner you were attending tonight, and insisted she took over the shop. You were grateful for that, because you weren't sure how you could get ready and also run the shop.
Arriving at the estate, you were met with only Ayaka. "Oh, Y/N! Right on time." She smiles at you warmly. "Please, have a seat in the dining room with me. I'm sure Thoma and my brother will be here shortly."
After spending many days in the estate, you didn't feel as out of place, but knowing you were about to meet the head of a very powerful clan, you couldn't help but shake a little.
"Might I say you look beautiful." Ayaka says, eyeing your outfit. "You are always quite pretty, but this... I can see why Thoma likes you so much."
You blush feverishly at her words, almost instinctively covering yourself up. You're not used to praise. "T-Thank you." You stutter, smiling at the ground. "It's nothing really..."
"Oh, hush. You're gorgeous. And please, don't be nervous, especially for my brother." You see her slightly roll her eyes. "He can be a lot, but surely, he is not someone you should be nervous about meeting. To put it simply, he's weird."
You giggle at how informal Ayaka can get talking about Ayato. It seems he really gets on her nerves, which is not surprising at all. As powerful as he might be, older brothers will be older brothers.
Ayaka motions for you to sit at the little table. Knowing you were nervous, she sat you across from Ayato rather than next to him. "You can sit next to Thoma and I, I know it'll make you less nervous."
You were grateful Ayaka understood your anxieties. She truly was a kind person.
"So, Y/N, have you ever seen my brother in person?"
You shake your head, a little embarrassed. "I can't say I even know what he looks like." You admit.
Ayaka giggles. "I expected as much. Both he and I do not get out in public much, though him a bit more than I." She smooths her skirt out. "Sometimes he likes to go to this boba tea place in Inazuma City. I tell him he's wasting time, and that he is already late for whatever meeting he should be attending, but he claims the tea 'calms his nerves'."
Now you're the one laughing. The more you hear about Ayato, the more intrigued you are to meet such a character. "Sounds like quite the personality."
"You have no idea." Ayaka groans.
"Sorry I'm late!" Thoma quickly walks in, out of his usual attire. His eyes make his way to you. "Woah." Was all he could muster, staring at you with longing eyes.
"See!" Ayaka turns back at you. "Look, you stunned Thoma with your beauty."
Your face must look like a tomato by now! "I uhh..." Thoma also looked quite good. He was in a much more formal outfit, and you also could not form the right words.
Both of you were at a complete standstill.
"Thoma! Tell her she looks beautiful!" Ayaka snaps.
He clears his throat, his entrancing thoughts interrupted. "S-Sorry. I was just... Caught off guard." He walks up to you, taking your hand and gently placing a kiss atop it. "You look extremely beautiful, Y/N."
You wanted to puke.
You swallow nervously. "Y-You look good too." You say quietly, both of you now blushing profusely.
Thoma made his way to sit seat right next to you, as you wait for Ayato.
"Where is that man?" Thoma groans, looking at the empty plate in front of him. "I'm hungry."
The sound of footsteps brought everyone to a halt, as your eyes were met with a sea of pale blue looking right back at you. You freeze.
This was Ayato?
His soft facial features contrasted that of a mischievous grin he seemed to sport on his face. His blue hair fell seemingly perfect, just over his eyes. He looks unreal. You gulp nervously.
He seems to be having the same reaction, as his eyes have not left your frame.
"Lord Ayato, very nice to see you." Thoma starts, finding it a little off Ayato hasn't sat down yet. "How was your trip?"
Clearing his throat, Ayato pulls his chair out. "The trip was satisfactory. We landed a great deal." He states, sitting down. "However..." He looks back at you. "I don't believe we are here to talk business..."
You didn't seem to understand your feeling at this moment. Here sat the head of a system you hated, yet you couldn't seem to take your eyes off him. He was graceful yet a little mysterious.
Thoma notices your shift in vibe and shuffles uncomfortably in his seat. "Y-Yes, of course. This is Y/N, my girlfriend."
You lightly gasp at the word.
Girlfriend.
No man has ever called you that.
Trying to look as unphased as possible, you only nod at Ayato in response. "Yes, hello Lord Kamisato Ayato, pleasure to meet you." You bow your head down slowly.
"Please, no need to be so formal." Ayato says.
You keep your hands in your lap as you try not to show all the hormones raging inside you right now. Between Thoma calling you his girlfriend (albeit fake), and Ayato eyeing you down, you swear you're going to explode.
"So, Y/N, beautiful name. Tell me, what do you do?"
You blush at Ayato's compliment. "Thank you. I run a small shop in Inazuma City."
"Impressive." Ayato smiles. "It's not easy running your own store. Tell me about it."
You couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to Ayato. He was smart, funny, and honestly? A little weird. But you didn't mind. You were scared he was going to be like an all perfect commissioner robot, but seeing him so carefree... It made you actually not hate him.
"And then, Itto lost again! So I took his Onikabuto and he was only left with one more!" Ayato laughs.
You laugh along, absolutely engrossed in every story he told. You almost forgot the reason you were there.
As you and Ayato were laughing it up talking about Onikabuto fights and hot pot games gone wrong, Ayaka peeks a glance at thoma, who has barely said three words.
"Thoma?" Ayaka nudges him quietly. "Are you okay?"
Thoma widens his eyes, realizing he had been sulking. "Of course, why wouldn't I be?" He let out a weak smile.
Ayaka frowns. "I suspect this is not going the way you planned for it to go."
Thoma only looks at you as you laugh along with his boss. He feels his heart physically drop seeing you so happy with another man. He knew this relationship wasn't real, though. How could he be mad?
If anything, he was more sad. Sad it took jealousy to realize what he wanted all along.
You and Ayato finally calmed down with the laughter as you both wiped tears away from your eyes. "I must say, commissioner. I have not laughed like that in quite some time." You smile.
"As I. I believe the last time I cried laughing is when Thoma and I played our last hot pot game many months ago."
Thoma.
You forgot. You were here to be a good girlfriend to Thoma.
You awkwardly laugh as you looked down at your plate. How could you be so stupid?
But at the same time, you couldn't deny the chemistry between you and Ayato. Even if it was just one conversation. It's not like Thoma even likes you anyways. Was there any harm in looking at other potential suitors if the one you want doesn't want you?
"It is quite late. Shall I get a guard to walk you home, Y/N? Or of course, you could stay here the night-"
"No." Thoma interrupted, causing all heads to turn to him. Beat red, he clears his throat. "I-I mean, I will walk her home. Do not worry the guards, Lord Ayato."
"Very well." Ayato looks back at you. "It was very, very nice to meet you, Y/N." He gently grabs your hand, kissing the top of it. You felt the heat from your cheeks burn even brighter. "You are quite the gem."
You smile shyly. "You as well, Lord Ayato."
With one final bow, Ayato left the dining room. Dazed and confused, you didn't know what to think anymore.
After saying goodbye to Ayaka, Thoma and you head back to your house. "You really didn't need to come with me." You say, looking over at the piercing black sky. "It's really dark."
"Well... I wanted to talk to you." Thoma's voice sounded off. You look at him, puzzled.
"Talk? Did I mess something up?" You were scared. you didn't think anything had gone wrong, yet looking back, Thoma barely spoke during the entire dinner.
"No, nothing like that. I... Wanted to know what you thought about Ayato."
You lightly blush. What you thought about him? You weren't sure yourself. "Well, he's funny. I assumed he'd be a prude, in all honesty, but I appreciated his humor." Thoma stayed silent, which worried you even further. "Thoma? Is something the matter?"
"Hm?" He looks at you. "I just... You seemed to really like him, is all." He laughs awkwardly.
"Thoma." You frown. You spent a great deal of time with him to know something was off. "Please, be honest with me. What did I do?"
"Nothing." Was all he said. "You didn't do anything wrong."
You didn't want to pry any further, so you stray away to another topic of conversation. "So... Did it seem like Ayato liked me?" You were nervous to ask the question, but it's not like Thoma was really your boyfriend, as sad as that made you.
Thoma literally stops in his tracks, causing you to stumble a little. "If Ayato likes you?" It seems as if all of Thoma's fears were accurate. He knew you wouldn't ask unless you cared. Seeing how you guys acted together, he should have known, but living in blissful ignorance seemed like a better option. "Of course he did." Thoma sighs. "Who wouldn't like you?"
If you weren't going to be with him, the least he could do was hope you were happy with someone else.
"Really?" You sounded a bit more hopeful than Thoma wanted you to.
He nods. "Really."
"It's strange... But I didn't think I would like him as much as I do."
Thoma wanted to cry. He never believed that you would make him so emotional. "Well? What are you going to do about it?" Sure, he was scared of you leaving him, but it was inevitable.
"I... I don't know." You admit. "I mean, we're still... 'together', plus I don't even think he would go for me..."
"Don't say that." Thoma said sternly, looking right at you. You stop walking, confusion arising on your face.
"Huh?" You say quietly.
"Anyone would be really, really lucky to be with you, Y/N. Trust me." Thoma wasn't laughing, nor being sarcastic in anyway. He was dead serious. "If you think Ayato would make you happy... We can stage a break up if you want. But..." It felt against his nature to say all these things to you, as if the universe was screaming at him to stop, but he couldn't. He wants so desperately for you to be happy, and who better to make you happy than the head commissioner?
After all, Thoma was only a housekeeper.
"But what?" You breathe out. Was this what you think it was?
Thoma looks away, grateful you couldn't see the feverish blush on his face due to the pitch black sky. "Nothing. Never mind. This was never meant to be permanent. We both got what we wanted..."
"Thoma..." You started. "I-I don't want to say something wrong, but I need to ask you something..."
The only thing you could see in the night sky were his sad, green eyes, staring at you with such anxiety. "Yes?"
You gulp nervously. You felt like such a child asking the question, but you had to know. "Do you like me?"
"Define... What you mean."
"I mean... Do you want this relationship to be real?" Silence from both ends. You take Thoma's hands gently, resulting in a light gasp on his end. "Do you?"
Thoma slowly starts to nod, gripping your hands a little harder, like he never wants to let you go. "I... I think I'm falling in love with you." he whispers.
What?! That is not what you expected. You feel your lip tremble as you let the words melt into you. "You do?" You whisper.
Love? He loves you?
Thoma's eyes were now glossy with tears. "I know this wasn't part of the plan, I-I'm sorry. I know you probably don't feel the same. I know you took a great liking to Ayato. I saw the way you smiled with him. Laughed with him. You two... Would be good together."
"Don't apologize." You were crying now. "I just-"
"You don't need to explain yourself." He interrupted. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have caught feelings-"
"Thoma." You say a little too sternly, causing him to shut up.
He was almost too scared to answer. "Yes?"
Were you really about to do this? The last few days all you wanted was for this relationship to be real, and now you couldn't even speak properly! When words fail, what else is there to do?
You quickly close your eyes and push your head up, crashing your lips into his.
Stunned, he widens his eyes at the sudden affection. Slowly, he starts to move in rhythm with you, closing his eyes and bringing a hand behind your head to kiss you deeper.
You wrap your arms around his neck as he licks the bottom of your lip, the kiss deepening even more.
After what felt like ages, you part, your arms still around him. "I'm sorry..." You breathe out, embarrassed. "I-I didn't know what to do, so I..."
Thoma only smiles in response, gently grabbing your thighs and lifting you up. You gasp as you were now above Thoma. "Do it again. Please." Thoma begs.
You let out a light chuckle as you kiss him again, a little less messy this time. You felt every part of him connect with you.
"I'm falling in love with you, too." You mutter into his lips.
You feel him smile. "So... No Ayato?"
You giggle. "Yes, he's handsome. But to put it simply... He's not you. I want you."
That was all it took to make your fake relationship, a real one.
As you kissed under the moon, a small dandelion sprouts just under the two of you.
Where did it come from? Who knows.
Thoma tucks your hair behind your ear, staring into your eyes.
"You're so beautiful, my dandelion."
i was gonna make this so much longer, but this isn't supposed to be a like huge fic or anything. i wanted a part where you actually date ayato but like end up with thoma. maybe next i'll have to make an ayato x reader fic to indulge in my ayato obsession... but anyways. i love thoma. forever and always. hope you enjoyed!
