You forget how breathtakingly awful the Josh Kirby Discworld covers are until you stumble across one after a long absence and stare dumbfounded at how literally nauseating they are. How many millions of potential readers couldn't get past the stomach-churning grotesques that time and time again seemed to be only tenuously connected to the book in question? Pratchett, a deft master of plotting and piercingly insightful wordcraft, in Josh Kirby covers is portrayed again and again as a writer of pantomime in which the novel's whole cast will seemingly blunder around on stage in an orgy of pratfalls and buffoonery.
They're so overdrawn, so cluttered, so fleshy, so sweaty they make me ill just thinking about them.
