God am I burnt out about this, but here’s another terrible internet bill you need to call your senators about!
Specifically, you know the whole thing how on Twitter you can’t say the sort of hyperbolic things in hatred of politicians that you could say on the rest of the net? To the point where you have to even fucking censor the word “kill” or “die” in some cases?
Well, this bill, the See Something, Say Something Online Act of 2022, would mandate this for the whole of the net. And you could get arrested for it. And they’re trying to shove this in a must-pass bill, the National Defense Authorization Act.
And it’s also by everyone’s favorite Senator Manchin! You know, the one who’s one of the two assholes responsible for why even the few good things Biden wanted to do didn’t get to happen? God I hate that guy!
Anyhoo, the bill they plan to graft this onto is currently in the Senate Armed Services Committee, meaning if one of the following senators represents your state, call them and tell them to keep this out of the NDAA:

Abortion, Republicans, and Changed Minds
I’ve been meaning to write a piece about the Republican effort “to moderate their position on abortion.”
The thing is, most of them are lying; trying to fool people into thinking they’ve changed their views. But, the truth is, even if some have really changed their beliefs, that won’t carry over to Washington. You might think, “No, not my Senator/Representative.”
But, when they get to D.C. they’ll be forced to toe the Republican Party line, or they won’t get support (monetary and otherwise) from the party, and the party will just find someone else to support in the next election.
I’m not saying the Democrats are perfect; far from it: see especially Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. But, they’re closer to what the people want; closer to the rights the people deserve.
We’re not going to achieve things in one giant step; that’s the simple truth. But, even taking baby steps adds up. Adding two more Democratic Senators, and increasing the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, will make achieving progress easier.

HOT TAKE: Conservative Democrats in red states aren’t conservative because “that’s the only way to win in middle America and the South” — they are often conservative because they are well PAID to be conservative
“Together, Sinema and Manchin have caused significant headaches for Democrats over the last two years — first by opposing much of the "Build Back Better" social spending and climate bill and then by opposing Democrats' plans of weakening the Senate's 60-vote filibuster to pass voting rights legislation.
Crow has also made significant contributions to moderate-to-conservative House Democrats.
According to federal campaign finance data, the Texas billionaire has given $16,800 to Rep. Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey since 2018, contributing thousands as recently as October 2022.
Gottheimer, a member of the so-called "Unbreakable Nine" of moderate Democrats who insisted on de-linking Build Back Better from the infrastructure bill, has at times been a thorn in the side of his party as well.
And Crow has contributed $12,500 to Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas since 2006. Cuellar, a conservative opponent of abortion rights, faced a strong primary challenge from progressive activist Jessica Cisneros in 2022.
Crow's relationship and lavish vacations with Justice Thomas have raised significant ethics concerns — Thomas never disclosed the flights and yacht trips financed by the GOP megadonor, apparently violating a post-Watergate federal law that requires justices to report gifts.”

#10. Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI)
An American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Rhode Island. Cute little guy whose diminutive height 5 feet 7 inches on a good day, makes him a perfect pocket daddy.
#9. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL)
A former American football coach, former player, and Republican politician. He’s what you think a senator would look like. I’d love to fuck around in bed with him for a weekend.
#8. Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI)
An American politician and businessman serving as the junior United States Senator from Michigan since 2015. A bearded, buttoned-down genial Midwesterner known in the Senate mostly for steering as far clear from the spotlight as he possibly can. One ally calls him a “worker bee,” while a Republican describes him as “about as exciting as a bowl of cold oatmeal.” I’d call him hot as hell.

Two women ... locked themselves to a massive drill, stopping work on a controversial oil pipeline project. One of the women, Rose Abramoff is believed to be the first American climate scientist to risk a felony in an act of climate protest against fossil fuel projects.
“The stakes are so high,” Abramoff told the Guardian. “We cannot build this pipeline and meet our climate goals.”
The Mountain Valley Pipeline would stretch 300 miles across West Virginia and Virginia, transporting liquified shale gas. The US supreme court made a ruling in July to allow construction to resume on the $6.6bn pipeline, which has been championed by Senator Joe Manchin.
According to Scientist Rebellion, over two dozen work stoppages such as lockdowns, rallies and walk-ons have taken place at the Mountain Valley pipeline construction site in the past two months. ...
Abramoff has a long history of climate activism. ... In December of last year, Abramoff interrupted the American Geophysical Union meeting, calling on fellow scientists to join her in climate activism. In response, she was expelled from the conference and lost her job. ...
For Abramoff, the risk of going to prison is scary, but the alternative is unthinkable: “We can’t keep expanding fossil fuels. It just can’t happen.”
