❝ somethin' about me, got you hooked on my body ❞
It's not love. How could it be ? Someone as horrible, vile, and downright inhumanely psychotic doesn't deserve love.
Maybe if we met earlier things would've been different on my end; maybe before Junwoo became all fucked up in the head, I'd have fallen for him,
But my lack of adoration proves to be no problem, because yes, I hate him – but oh dear god do i love fucking him.
"You are fucking crazy, you know that ?" I yell out as I storm into his room, not caring for entering without permission from the owner.
He exits his on suite bathroom, a robe hanging loosely on his shoulders, the belt left untied. I stop dead in my tracks, his body always seeming to amaze me whenever I see it – and I've seen it many times before.
The light reflects off of his damp torso, his abs being extenuated far more than it should. Shit, I didn't come her just to get turned on.
That smirk that I hate with a passion, yet it never fails to make me hot all over, grows on his lips and he begins slowly stalking towards me.
"Why don't you get undressed and tell me something I don't know sweetheart ?"
A voice from hell I swear...yet it carries a sweetness that must have been gifted to him by Lucifer himself before he was booted from the gates of heaven. That's how I'd describe Junwoo; a fallen and utterly deranged, broken angel. He's lost it, too far from saving, but he's so goddanm irresistible.
"I didn't come here for sex, Jang."
I huff out, placing my hands on my hips as I watch his lustful eyes shamelessly trail down my neck before stopping at my cleavage; it wasn't on purpose, I just had a stressful day at the firm and my shirt was suffocating me before I eventually popped a couple of the buttons open.
"Sure," he chuckles before standing in front me and hooking his forefinger in the opening of my shirt. "You do realise you're teasing me right now, right baby ?" he pulls the shirt slightly and leans forward, his eyes sparkling as he stares down at my bunched up breasts.
He moans softly, the sound instantly making my core vibrate. "The red lace ? Sweetie, you're killing me here."
I clench my jaw, wishing I could resist the pull and warmth his hand gives me as it cups my cheek, the other wrapping around my waist to slowly fall down over my clothed ass.
"I wish I could actually kill you, Jang Junwoo."
I whisper softly as he places his forehead against mine, his thumb gently trailing over my bottom lip as he smiles.
"You know that only turns me on, right princess ?"
Fucking hell, he's so crazy.
I didn't realize my eyes hsd fallen shut until I felt his stare down on me, and I slowly raise my lids to stare up at him. It's not necessarily love his dark brown orbs hold, of course not, he's incapable of it; but there is something soft that they hold when he looks at me. Comfort ? Content ? Whatever it is, it doesn't help the fire inside I have for him.
"You're beautiful, y/n."
"I hate you Junwoo."
Although true, it came out sultry and breathy against his dry lips, which he quickly fixes and swipes his tongue over them, only making his mouth more inviting to me.
He let's out a breath and smirks. "Keep going baby, please."
Was I suprised to learn that Jang Junwoo has a degradation kink, and that insults only make his dick hard and beg for my warmth ? Of course not.
My hands come up to settle on his chest gently, before digging my nails into his caramel skin. He throws his head back, a deep moan leaving his lips as I bring my nails down, leaving behind red lines on his otherwise flawless chest.
I step closer to close the distance between us, my stomach flush against his, and I instantly feel his erection poke against my lower stomach. My lips smile against his neck, loving the fetish he has for me.
"I wish I could rip you apart with my bare hands Jang Junwoo."
He growls softly, bringing his head back up to crash his lips down on mine, sucking harshly and biting down on them before pulling away for air.
"Fuck, I wish you could too y/n."
In the blink of an eye he has my naked, legs wrapped around his waist as he presses my back against the cold hardwood of his bedroom door. The sudden temperature immediately makes me arch my back, and he greedily takes the opportunity to dive down onto my hardened nipples.
Moaning loudly, hands pushing his robe off of his shoulders so he was only standing in his straining underwear, his lips aggressively attack my nipples and the skin around them. Once he's satisfied with the countless purple bruises littered all over my chest, he moves up to suck at my sweet spot.
As pleasurable as his lips and tongue are, I wanted to hear his crave for me. With one hand gripping his shoulder, the other travels down before grasping his length through his underwear. My action evokes a gasp before I feel his growl vibrate against my neck, his teeth biting down hard before licking up the bruise.
"If I'm the devil y/n, do you know what you'd be ?"
His head is against mine as I continue to roughly grope and stroke his clothed and throbbing member. Biting down hard on his bottom lip to reject all the loud moans that wish to leave his lips, I feel his hips begin to slowly grind into my palm. Unfortunately, no matter how desperate we are for each other, foreplay was a necessity as he's fucking huge and I'd be broken by the time his body eventually allows him to cum; by then I'm drained after reaching my climax over seven times.
"What would I be, Jang ?"
His lip has deep teeth marks in them as he closes his eyes, focusing on grinding into my palm so his climax could close in, because only then would I allow him to switch out my hand for my drenched pussy.
"The perfect angel who's dark side only I'd ever get to see. Shit, now please sweetheart," he's rock hard in my hand, and I felt the wetness of his pre-cum beneath my fingers. He's ready.
"Let me fuck you."
I smirk at his desperate tone, his brows pinched together as his damp hair sticks to his forehead that's already lightly coated in sweat.
"Permission granted, Mr Jang."
Not a second later, I watched his underwear fall to pool at his feet; I don't even get time to look down and admire his red, veiny, throbbing problem, as it quickly disappears inside of me.
A loud shriek-like sound leaves my throat, mixed with his deep moans of relief as he bottoms out completely, stretching me painfully wide; but it feels so good.
The door begins to rattle against it's hinges as he fucks into me, the sound only egging him on to go faster and harder. Another kink of his; it drives him crazy when the surface he's railing me on rattles and rocks under his force. Crazy i tell you.
"Fuck Junwoo !"
His dick hits my g-spot repeatedly, one hand leaving my hip to press down on my lower stomach, constricting the space inside of me so he can feel more of me on him.
"Louder princess, I want my whole neighborhood to know how good I fuck you."
A devilish smile pulls at my lips, and I slide one hand into the hair on the back of his head, before gripping tightly to pull his head back. He releases a string of soft moans as he stares into my now dark eyes, a murderous look in them that only he could ever evoke from me; and I know he loves it.
"No one will ever know what goes down between you and I, Junwoo-ssi,"
His mouth hangs open slightly, his hot breath hitting my lips as he groans at the sight of my lustful glare.
"Our secret will go down to your grave once that italian kills you, got that, sweetie ?"
Another moan before he can no longer resist, and kisses me harshly so that my head is pressed against the door. Our wet lips curling together mixes with the sound of his skin slapping against mine, as well as the sound of the door rattling under his strength.
I felt my high on the edge, and my nails scrape at his back, breathy moans leaving my mouth to reside in his.
"Please tell me you're close Jang, I don't know how much longer I can..." I couldn't even finish my sentence as everytime his tip grazes my center it pushed me closer, and closer to the end.
Junwoo slides his warm tongue along my bottom lip, a knowing a smirk pulling at his lips.
"Oh I'm close princess, your hand really did a number on me earlier."
I groan as I niped his bottom lip, "Good, fuck."
He picks up his pace, racing to the finish line; my brows pinch together when I felt the knot seconds away from bursting.
I shake my head rapidly against his, "Fuck, I'm gonna cum Jang," I moan out, unable to hold back any longer.
"Cum for me sweetheart."
His hands hold my shaking thighs before giving an immensely hard thrust into me, and a loud, strenuous moan leaves my throat as I felt the knot burst inside of me, a wave of pleasure encasing my body.
Junwoo releases a mixture of moans and deep groans as he cums inside of me, his head falling to the crook of my neck as his thrusts turn mellow to ride us through our high.
"Dear God y/n, you're too perfect for me."
My chest heaves against his, my body completely giving up on me and sinks down into his hands that are soothingly rubbing my thighs.
"I know."
He chuckles softly against my neck, before pecking the skin there and coming up to examine my fucked out face.
"Would you like to stay over ?" I just barely  raise my lids to meet his gaze. "I have work to do, I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyways."
I nod slowly, shifting as I was now sensitive all over and he was still inside of me.
Wrapping his arms around my waist securely, he slowly pulls himself out, before carrying me bridal style to his queen sized bed. The moment I felt the soft cotton sheets being pulled over my body, I sigh in content and allow my body to sink into his amazingly comfortable mattress.
"I'm seriously stealing this bed when you die."
He somehow hears my mumble upon returning from his bathroom, a wet towel in hand. He chuckles as he pulls back the covers to start gently cleaning me up.
"Take whatever you want y/n."
My brows furrow, and I look up at his beautiful face with a questioning yet absolutely exhausted gaze. "Oh, going soft on me Jang ?"
He smirks, and I watch as he leans down to place a soft kiss to my forehead. "Maybe just a little."
He then retrieves his robe to cover his body, before switching off the lights.
( No pov... )
"I still hate you Jang."
He smiles in the darkness, her words only making his heart flutter in his chest.
"Careful princess, you know what those words do to me." He stands by the door as he watchs her. A soft chuckle leaves her lips, and he stays for a little while longer until  hearing her soft sleeping breaths, her figure now still and resting.
He smiles one last time at the beauty that was gifted to torture him in this life, before leaving his bedroom quietly. Striding towards his office, his brother, who must have arrived not too long ago with Myunghee and Seunghyuk as he still held a full glass of whiskey in his hands, rises from the sofa to follow behind Junwoo.
"Miss Y/n was hear again ?"
He snorts softly, pouring his own glass of whiskey himself in his leather chair.
"Could those sounds have told you otherwise little brother ?"
"For all I know you could have been murdering someone hyung,"
Not long after Junwoo was driving his dick into y/n, Hanseo, Myunghee, and Seunghyuk entered his house. Although Hanseo was nonchalant as her moans echoed throughout the house, the two older lawyers by his side were absolutely horrified.
Even now, as they stood and stared at a clearly satisfied Jang Junwoo in his big leather chair, a smile on his face, their faces held deep looks of disgust and mild trauma.
"Hyung, you realise you're fucking the enemy right ?" Hanseo said timidly, the lawyers beside still unsure of what to say.
Junwoo just chuckles as he takes a gulp from his drink, before releasing a satisfied hum. "If you knew how good that woman felt Hanseo-yah, you'd do the same,"
He closes his eyes briefly, and her naked chest covered in bruises flashes in his memories; he leans back to feel the sting of her scratches against his back. He's probably bleeding slightly, but he couldn't care less. If anything, the pain just made him feel all giddy inside.
"Trust me little brother. You'd risk it all to just have a taste of woman like her."

key: bold = english
warnings ┆ not really a warning but a bit ooc han-seok only cause he’ll be a simp for you… but i’m still writing his character as accurate as i can!
Tumblr media
Your feet were killing you from all the running you’ve been doing today. It’s been a hectic day at the law firm and it seems like everyone has it out for you since you simply could not catch a break. From having to file paper work, make phone calls, even grabbing coffee for some people; it was a lot.
You were out of breath and leaning against a wall when someone ran up behind you to spook you.
“Boo!”
You screamed and slapped whoever it was that scared you, your eyes widening when you saw Joon-woo rubbing his cheek.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry!”
“That was very funny,” Cha-young laughed and wrapped her arm around your shoulder.
“Wow you hit hard,” Joon-woo pouted down at you.
“Don’t scare me like that,” you playfully slapped his arm, earning a groan from him in return.
“Yeah well he had it coming,” Cha-young rolled her eyes before giving you a hug. “By the way, we won!”
You hugged her back just as tightly, a smile forming on your lips. “Really? I’m so proud of you!”
You could say the two of you were rather close, almost like sisters. Other than Joon-woo — who she can barely tolerate — you were the only person in the law firm that she genuinely liked. You both grew incredibly close and are practically inseparable. She was your favorite person in the world until Joon-woo started to work at Wusang, and it’s been a battle for your attention ever since.
You and Cha-young both held hands and began to jump around in circles while you squealed before Joon-woo wrapped his arms around you two and jumped in.
“Hey hey,” Cha-young shoved him away. “This is our girl moment.”
“Aren’t I considered one of the girls?” He grinned while pressing his index finger against his cheek.
Cha-young looked at him with disgust. “No you moron.”
“You’re so mean to him,” you rolled your eyes and grabbed his hands. “You will always be one of the girls.”
He smiled at you but had to quickly excuse himself when he felt his phone ringing. “I will see you two later. Bye besties.”
He proceeded to twirl away like a ballerina, and while you looked at him with admiration, Cha-young was definitely unamused.
“You like that?”
“He’s so cute.”
The three of you decided to celebrate after work and although you insisted that drinks would be on you, Cha-young refused to let you pay at all. You sometimes get a little too carried away when it comes down to drinking, seeing as how you already drank about four bottles of soju and was feeling tipsy already.
“I love you twooo,” you slurred as you grabbed both of their hands.
“______ you’re drunk,” Joon-woo laughed and you quickly hushed him.
“Not yet. I’m just tipsy.”
“That’s what they all say,” Cha-young shook her head with a smile before looking down at her phone. “Anyways I have to go. This is for the soju.” She placed a couple of bills in your hand but quickly grabbed them and handed it over to Joon-woo. “I don’t trust her with it.”
“I got it boss,” Joon-woo gave her a thumbs up. “Bye!”
“Goodbye my love!” You waved at Cha-young and blew her a kiss.
“Why don’t you ever call me that?” Joon-woo pouted.
You weren’t sure if he was joking or being serious, but considering your friendship, he was probably kidding around with you. It sort of hurt, knowing he probably doesn’t feel the same way, but you still cherished every little comment and touch you shared with Joon-woo. You felt yourself lean against his shoulder as you softly caressed his arm.
“Okay my love, I’m sorry.”
Your heart began to beat erratically inside your chest and you felt him wrap his arms around you. Maybe the alcohol was making him act weird as well, but when he asked if you wanted to go for a drive, you almost slapped him again. Even though you weren’t one-hundred percent sober, you were very much aware that drunk driving was not only against the law but super careless. Joon-woo promised you that he wasn’t tipsy or under the influence, and he shook his two empty bottles of soju in front of your face to prove his point — he also drank a good amount of water too.
In the end, you agreed to go on a drive through the city with him, having the windows rolled down while the wind fanned your faces and you both sang your hearts out. You sang to Perfect Man, Careless Whisper, some BTS songs, hell you even did some throwbacks and sang to the Backstreet Boys.
The night was amazing. It felt like a dream.
You were currently blasting ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’ while you stuck your head out the window and let the wind blow your hair back, your eyes closed as you held your right arm out.
“But now, there’s no where to hide! Since you pushed my love aside! I’m outta my head, hopelessly devoted to you!”
You were too busy singing to even notice Joon-woo smile in your direction. You looked ethereal to him. The way your beautiful hair is flowing in the wind, how your voice sounds angelic when you sing, the way your smile lights up the night sky. He was incredibly whipped — if you could put it that way. He has never met anyone be so…perfect. He doesn’t know what it is about you, but he feels drawn to you, like you were meant to keep him grounded. The one pure thing in this world that he genuinely deserves.
He wants you to be his. He wants that so bad.
But for now, he has to wait. There’s no rush in making you his yet. Joon-woo wants to make sure he does this correctly because usually, he makes sure he gets what he wants when he needs it. But you’re delicate, you’re pure, you’re someone that managed to crawl inside his cold heart and slowly thaw it out. He doesn’t want to risk losing you or scaring you away, so in the mean time, he will cherish whatever friendship it is that you two share.
“He said what?!”
You and Cha-young were in her office as you spoke about your amazing night with Joon-woo. After he dropped you off at your place, you could’ve sworn it was going to lead to a kiss. The way he looked at you, with so much intensity, it made you feel weak in your knees. You wanted that kiss so bad but all he did was open the door for you, guide you inside, give you a glass of water, and give you a goodbye hug.
“At first when you left he pouted and asked why I never call him ‘my love’. Then I lean into him, apologize while calling him that, and he wrapped his arm around me. Cha-young I almost fainted.”
“Okay, then what?”
“We went on a drive and I made sure he wasn’t tipsy or drunk, which he wasn’t. It literally felt like something straight out of a kdrama. I just,” you let out a dreamy sigh and dropped yourself onto the ground, “it was perfect.”
“I mean this isn’t the first time you’ve hung out with just him right?”
“No, but it was definitely… different.”
“Ah that Joon-woo,” Cha-young frowned while pursing her lips. “Such a moron to not realize what a catch he has in front of him.”
“Maybe he likes you,” you suggested with a pout but wasn’t being serious about it.
“Me? Ha! Never in a million years! I terrorize him enough and even if he did, he’s not my type. I can beat him up for you.”
“You already do with your words.”
“I can also do it physically.”
“But then you’ll ruin his perfect face–”
“Hello my besties!”
Your eyes widened at his sudden arrival, and he walked around the table only to stop when he noticed you on the floor.
“Oh? What are you doing down there?”
“Dying.”
“Ah,” he nodded his head.
Cha-young stomped towards Joon-woo and slapped him on his shoulder. “Do you knock you moron?”
He awkwardly laughed. “So sorry but the boss man called. Mr. Han said that Babel Pharmaceutical’s Drug Development Division called because one of their researchers that was in quarantine went missing.”
“What?!”
You slowly sat up. “This is top secret information. I must go.”
“No, you’re coming with us.”
“Huh?” Both you and Joon-woo said at the same time. Cha-young seemed pissed and didn’t even acknowledge you both as she grabbed her bag and marched out the office, like a lion ready to mangle its prey. You and Joon-woo looked at each other with confusion before you both hurried out of the office and tailed behind the angry lawyer.
The three of you reached your destination in no time and you stood behind Cha-young — who was sitting down and was eerily quiet. Joon-woo on the other hand? He was getting after the two pharmacists in front you.
“It’s been two days. Why didn’t you tell us sooner? Look at her,” he gestured at Cha-young. “She’s so upset!”
“I’m sorry,” one of the pharmacists apologized.
“My god… seriously,” Joon-woo hissed out.
Seeing him angry…was kinda hot.
Cha-young finally broke her silence as she glared at the two men. “I told you to keep a close eye on all the newly employed researchers. I didn’t want them to complain, so I got them to stay at the chairman’s villa!” She stood up and paused for a second before continuing. “If that researcher talks nonsense, we’ll lose this suit.”
“And that new drug, it’ll be the end of it as well!” Joon-woo stepped in.
“I’m truly sorry,” one of them apologized… again before the two bowed.
This was truly frustrating to watch.
“Do the higher ups know?” You involuntarily spoke without realizing it, making everyone look at you. You placed a fist over your mouth and slowly turned away.
“No ma’am. They don’t.”
“Then let’s keep it that way. Don’t you dare tell them,” Cha-young glared at them.
“Never!” Joon-woo pointed a finger.
After the two pharmacists agreed and you three took your leave, you walked out of the building to sort of decompress the conversation. Cha-young was still irritated — rightfully so. Joon-woo was saying things that irritated her more. And you? Well, you were there for support. Things took a turn when Cha-young spotted the Chairman of Babel, Jang Han-seo, and practically ran to him. The whole encounter was short since he seemed to be in a hurry and it almost felt like he brushed her off in the end, which made your jaw drop.
“I get that he’s a chairman, but how can he talk down on us on our first encounter?” You frowned and crossed your arms.
“And he’s young too,” Joon-woo hissed.
“Anyone who’s rich and powerful can do so even if they’re younger than me,” Cha-young spoke with displeasure.
You scoffed. “With that mindset, you might as well have a child actor tell you what to do.”
The three of you stood there for a while before Cha-young excused herself and said her goodbye’s, claiming she had somewhere to go. Both you and Joon-woo watched her leave before he tapped your shoulder with a smile.
“Want some steak? I got paid yesterday.”
“You don’t even have to ask me twice, let’s go!”
And boy was that steak so damn good. Maybe it’s the fact you were starving since you skipped out on breakfast, which was definitely a bad idea on your part. You didn’t even bother eating anything since you woke up with such a grimm taste on your mouth due to the alcohol. All you did was pop a mint into your mouth after you brushed your teeth, got ready, and went to work.
“Wow you’re going to finish before me,” Joon-woo’s jaw dropped. “Did you not eat breakfast?”
“I didn’t have time. After you dropped me off last night I went to bed and felt super woozy and just knocked out. Woke up feeling like crap, plus, I was running late too.”
“You can’t skip out on meals though,” he pouted with a small frown. “You’ll get sick.”
“Aw, you care about my well being?” You cooed.
“Of course I care,” he muttered to himself before taking a bite out of his steak.
You ignored the butterflies in your stomach at his words and you took a sip of your water, trying to fight the blush on your cheeks.
“______ do you like anybody?”
Cue you choking on your water as you lightly spit it out. Joon-woo immediately stood up to help you while you embarrassingly coughed so loud that everyone decided to look at you. You cleaned your face with a napkin while Joon-woo patted your back, and you were quick to hit his stomach, making him flinch.
“Why would you ask me that?”
“Because you and Cha-young were talking about it.”
Holy fuck did he hear us?
“I wasn’t eavesdropping or anything, but I did hear her saying she’ll beat someone up for you and you said no since it’ll ruin his perfect face,” he sighed. “Am I not one of the girls after all?”
“That’s different girl talk though,” you quickly defended yourself.
“So you do like someone?”
“I never said that.”
“But you’re acting suspicious.”
“Okay so what if I do?”
“Do I know him?”
“Maybe.”
“Who is it?”
He was bombarding you with questions and you felt cornered. It didn’t help that he was practically leaning into you while one hand rested on your chair and the other on the table. If he leaned in just a little closer, you could easily move your head up and kiss him. Why is he curious about your love life? Does he like you?
“Why do you wanna know so bad, hm?” You pressed.
“Just looking after you. Cha-young may be fierce but I have the muscle.” He stepped back and punched the air while doing sound effects. “No one will dare hurt you.”
Oh, so he’s just being a good friend. You’re gonna let that disappointment sink in right about now.
“I’m still not telling you.”
“But why?” He whined.
“Do you like anybody?”
“I actually do.”
Your fork clattered onto your plate while you stared up at him. He was smiling and looking up at the ceiling, and he appeared to be daydreaming or something. He sat back down on his chair and you did your best to hold your composure.
“Oh. What’s she like?”
Joon-woo let out a dreamy sigh. “She’s amazing. Hard-working. Has a good sense of humor. She’s perfect to me.”
You wanted to throw up. Your appetite vanished and the delicious steak that sat in front of you didn’t seem appetizing anymore. Your hands felt numb and you could literally feel your heart breaking at his words.
“She sounds nice,” you mumbled while plastering your best fake smile.
“Mhm. I really want to ask her out but I just don’t know how do it. I think she likes someone else though, but that won’t make me give up.”
Maybe you should. Forget her.
“Joon-woo, she’s an idiot for not liking you.”
“You think so?” His eyes brightened. “How should I ask her out then?”
Why the fuck are you the one that has to listen to this conversation? Why couldn’t it of been Cha-young? You could either just walk away and lie about your stomach hurting and leave him here, or you could genuinely help him. You didn’t want to be a bad friend, and you most definitely didn’t want to bail on him just because you felt jealous and was undergoing a heartbreak. You weren’t that type of friend. He deserves everything, especially your support. If he doesn’t like you, then you can’t do anything about it. It is what it is and you have to suck it up.
“Start off by getting her small gifts. Flowers, food, anything she likes. Compliment her when she’s feeling down or when she thinks she doesn’t look great… she’ll eventually start to notice you. Buy her a bouquet of flowers, something really pretty, then pour out your feelings and let her know how much she means to you.”
You wanted to cry. Your eyes were brimming with tears and you were just a second away from a breakdown.
“Excuse me I have to pee.”
You shot out of your seat and ran to the bathroom, and the moment you stepped inside, you broke. You have never felt this type of heartbreak before, not even with your previous partners. Joon-woo isn’t even your boyfriend, and yet, he’s the one who broke you more. You were a crying mess while you pulled out your phone and called Cha-young. The moment she heard your sobs, she went crazy. You told her what happened but made her promise to not kill Joon-woo after this, and that took a lot of convincing.
“Can you just… p-please call him and make up an excuse. I-I don’t think I can be here right now.”
“Ah! This is so frustrating! I can’t just hit him at all?”
“No.”
She mumbled a few curse words before replying. “Fine. Send me the address and I’ll be on my way. I’ll think of something.”
“Thank you.”
You hung up and gave yourself a bit more time before stepping out. You washed your face and applied a bit of make up to hide the fact that you were just crying. When you stepped back outside and began to walk towards your table, you noticed Joon-woo was on the phone.
“But we’re having steak,” he replied and shot you a wave when he saw you. “Cha-young please,” he whined before letting out a huff. “Fine.”
“What happened?”
“Cha-young called saying she needed you for some errands. She said you weren’t answering her calls.”
“Really?” You acted clueless and pulled out your phone, staring at your empty lock screen. “Oh wow, I didn’t even notice.”
“Yeah,” he huffed. “She’s on her way to pick you up.”
“Did she say where we were going?”
“Nope.”
You nodded your head and turned your attention back towards your steak, gently stabbing it with your fork. Joon-woo squinted his eyes when he noticed your change in demeanor.
“Hey, you okay?”
Fuck.
But right on cue, your phone began to ring and you quickly answered it. Relief hit you when you heard Cha-young say she was outside and you shot Joon-woo a sad smile.
“Sorry, I have to go. Be safe heading back home and text me when you get there!” You scurried out of your seat and paused for a second. “Good luck with that girl.”
Then you left, leaving a completely dumbfounded and upset Joon-woo behind.
The next few weeks definitely felt different and you tried to put as much distance between you and Joon-woo as possible. He seemed to pick up on it and would try to follow you around, asking if something is going on. You would put your best poker face and tell him that everything was okay and you were just busy with work. He didn’t seem to buy your excuse but you didn’t care anymore. You wanted to get over whatever feelings you had for him.
Then, the tragic news hit of Cha-young’s father passing away, and she was a mess. You knew they never got along but you weren’t blind to the fact that deep down she cared for him. He was her father after all. Even though Joon-woo was there for her, you were the one who slept over at her place — well her dad’s house — to cheer her up and offer her a shoulder to cry on. You were devastated when she left Wusang though, but nonetheless, you’ll still be able to see her outside of work.
When you received a call from her that she was apparently detained, you grabbed Joon-woo and ran towards the police station to bail her out.
But instead, a rather handsome guy wearing a suit waltzed in, providing concrete proof and demanding for her to be released. He definitely held some power to him and you wondered if he was her new partner since she did take over her father’s law firm. The moment you all left, she immediately walked towards his direction as he spoke on the phone.
“He’s smart,” spoke Joon-woo.
You nodded in agreement. “He’s also hot, but wow do they look good together.”
“Hot?” Joon-woo’s voice sounded a bit rough, but he cleared his throat and fixed his collar. “I mean, maybe they’re dating.”
You squinted your eyes. “No… she would’ve told me about it. I think he’s that lawyer she’s been telling me about.”
“Vincenzo Cassano?”
“Mhm,” you nodded your head and shoved your hands in your pockets while walking over to them, Joon-woo following behind.
“Lawyer Vincenzo Cassano?” Joon-woo curiously asked.
The man turned around with an impressed look. “You’re the first Korean to pronounce my name correctly.”
Joon-woo smiled at the compliment. “I used to be her assistant back in Wusang. I’m Jang Joon-woo.”
“And I’m _____ _____, you’ll probably hear more about me.”
Vincenzo nodded his head but squinted his eyes at Joon-woo. “How do you know me?”
“Ah, because I did a background check on you for Cha-young.”
Cue him doubling over after Cha-young kicked his leg. You choked back a laugh and shook your head when everyone’s eyes landed on you.
“Sooo, are you two working close?” You asked with a smile.
Vincenzo just looked at you with a bored expression before walking off. “No.”
Your jaw dropped at his rudeness, and Cha-young apologized on his behalf before saying goodbye to you and chasing after the dickhead.
“What an asshole,” you muttered. “He’s not boyfriend material.”
“Well I think him and Cha-young are perfect for each other. They’re both cranky, lawyers, and–”
You didn’t even bother listening to what Joon-woo was saying as you walked away, waving him over to follow since you both had to head back to work.
“Wait.” Even though he was limping, he managed to catch up to you. You felt him grab your wrist and twirl you around to face him. “What’s going on with you?”
“What do you mean?”
“You’ve been… different lately. Ever since that day I took you out for steak. Did something happen?”
“No,” you feigned innocence.
His expression grew serious when he let out a deep sigh. “I know you were crying in the bathroom.”
“How? You spied on me?”
He shook his head. “No but the lady next to us was heading to the bathroom too… until she heard you crying. She thought you were my girlfriend and told me, and she mentioned you speaking to someone on the phone.”
Why the fuck are people so nosy?
“Did you call Cha-young to pick you up?” He was grabbing your shoulders at this point and you refused to make eye contact with him. “Talk to me.”
“There’s nothing to talk about Joon-woo,” your voice was barely above a whisper.
“______,” he bent down so he could be at eye level with you. “Why won’t you talk to me. Did I do something?”
He looked defeated and it made you feel guilty. Why are you making his life hell when he doesn’t deserve it? It’s not his fault he doesn’t feel the same for you. You preached about being a good friend to him, yet, you’ve been giving him the cold shoulder ever since your conversation about his crush.
You swallowed back the lump on your throat and smiled up at him. “No no, it’s not you. I’m sorry I’ve been a bitch lately–”
“You’re not a bitch.”
“Shh,” you placed your finger on his lips. “Let me finish. I was going through some stuff and my boy trouble didn’t help. Then when you started to talk about the girl you liked and how you probably made more progress with her, I just felt like poop because the guy I like and I have made zero progress. I was just sulking and the whole thing with Cha-young’s dad also happened. I took it out on you and I’m sorry Joon-woo.”
He didn’t say anything as he processed your apology, so instead you hugged him, not even caring if he returned it, but the moment you felt him wrap his arms around you, you felt happy. “Can my bestie forgive me? I’ll treat you to some ice cream.”
His chest rumbled as he laughed. “Let’s get some ice cream.”
And for the first time in a while, you felt happy.
You were once again running around the law firm, attending to errands and requests by the lawyers around you. You have never been bossed around so much in your life before and it was definitely frustrating. Some of these lawyers had ridiculous requests but you knew better than to question them. You were exhausted, probably since you didn’t get a good nights sleep. As you were rounding the corner your eyes fell on a dancing Joon-woo, and it took everything in you to not laugh at his dorkiness.
“Joon-woo?”
He turned around at the sound of your voice, a huge smile forming on his lips. “_______!” He practically ran towards you and gave you zero time to react as he picked you up and spun you around.
“Oh my god! What are you–”
“Guess what?” He looked up at you, completely forgetting how he was holding you.
“What?”
“You’re looking at Lawyer Jang Joon-woo.”
Your eyes widened in surprise and your mouth fell open before you wrapped your arms around his neck. “Oh my god! Really? Congratulations Joon-woo!”
“Thank you!” He smiled as he continued to spin you around. You were really hoping he wouldn’t be able to feel your heart beating like crazy against your chest. He was holding you so close and it almost felt like it was just you two existing in that mere moment.
Until it got ruined.
“What are you two doing?”
You both froze and turned towards the sound of the voice. Standing a couple of feet away was Lawyer Choi and she was looking at you two with confusion. You never interacted with her much, but according to Cha-young’s description of her, she is a pain in the ass. Neither you or Joon-woo dared to move, and he was still holding you up while Ms. Choi appeared to be growing impatient.
“Are you two deaf?”
“N-No,” you stuttered out while wiggling in Joon-woo’s arms. He quickly set you down as he fixed his suit, flashing her a small awkward smile. “We were just celebrating his promotion.”
“What kind of celebration was that? It looked like he just proposed to you and you said yes.”
You immediately turned red at her words, but Joon-woo was quick to step in. “We just got a little too excited.”
“Hm. Don’t do it again.”
That was the last thing she said before walking off. It felt like you could finally breathe and that’s exactly what you did as you let out the biggest exhale of your life. You leaned back against the wall and fanned your face, but Joon-woo stared at you as if you grew two heads.
“What’s wrong?”
“I’ve never been in trouble before,” you whispered. “She’s one of the top dogs.”
“Top dogs?”
“Yes, top dogs,” you repeated. “She’s scary.”
Joon-woo chuckled and ruffled your hair. “You’ll be fine. You want to grab some dinner with me?”
You wanted to say yes so bad, but your evening was swamped with work. “I can’t. I’m working late today.”
He shot you a pout. “That’s not fair.”
“I know,” you groaned and slammed your head against the wall. You already hated the idea of working so late today, but knowing that you’re going to miss out on having dinner with Joon-woo, it makes the situation worse for you. But it still makes you wonder why he’s asking you to eat with him? Didn’t he have a crush on someone? Wouldn’t he ask her instead? You shook those thoughts away, not wanting to stress yourself over it.
All you could was say goodbye to Joon-woo and smile as he shot you an army salute before walking off. Maybe he’ll ask his crush since you declined his offer. Curse your overthinking brain because now you’re definitely left in a bad mood.
You don’t know how it happened but somehow Joon-woo was able to have you as his personal assistant, so you began to follow him everywhere to provide some assistance whenever he needed it. You were glad to finally have a break from your previous position, but that also means you’re spending more time with Joon-woo now. You just don’t know if that’s a bad thing or a good thing. Being with him almost every day of the week made it hard for you to get rid of your feelings, especially when he’s been acting rather close to you.
Joon-woo has been sending mixed signals and you’re not even sure if this girl he spoke about is even in the picture anymore. You did lean towards the idea of him possibly liking you, but you didn’t want to get your hopes up.
Your relationship with Cha-young has also been hard to manage ever since she begged you to leave Wusang and work for her law firm. She went on a whole rant how Wusang is covering up for Babel’s illegal schemes and you shouldn’t support them or get caught up in their mess. She even said you could try to convince Joon-woo to join her law firm as well — even though she was half against it. He was quick to turn down her proposal, which left you in the middle. You told her you’ll think about it and get back to her as soon as possible.
But for now, your mind was focused on assisting and following Joon-woo — along with Mr. Han and Ms. Choi.
Your first time in court was… unexpecting. First Cha-young “fainted”, then the power went out, and lastly, giant hornets were flying around the courtroom and stung the judge. His face was left so swollen he couldn’t even talk, so the trial was postponed until the following week.
“This is better than a kdrama,” you whispered to Mr. Han who sat next to you.
He looked around, trying to make sure no one would hear him as he leaned in and nodded his head. “I agree.”
But his demeanor completely changed on the ride back to Wusang.
“Gosh. In my twenty-five years as a lawyer, I’ve never experienced such chaos in court before,” he chuckled before kicking Joon-woo’s seat. “It’s my first time! Okay?”
“That hurts, boss,” Joon-woo hissed while he winced from pain.
“Does it hurt?”
“Yes.”
“Well, suck it up! Suck it up!” Mr. Han yelled while repeatedly kicking and punching the seat again.
“Sir aren’t you being too rough?” You tapped his arm to grab his attention.
“Too rough? I don’t think so,” he waved you off.
“On top of that, my first trial as a lawyer was a flop,” Ms. Choi stated, unamused.
And yet experiencing my first trial was hilarious. You thought.
“God those dirty bastards. Of all things, how could they think of bringing in those hornets? What should we do?” Mr. Han sarcastically laughed.
“It was so funny,” you blurted out, causing everyone — but the driver — to face you. Your heart hammered in your chest while your eyes widened, and you slowly sunk in your seat as best as you could. “I didn’t mean to say that.”
“You didn’t mean to… oh god,” Mr. Han flicked your forehead which made you wince. “Should we just leave you stranded here?”
“No, sorry sir.”
“Ah! It’s not like you’re of any use anyways,” he shoved your shoulder, making you bump into Ms. Choi. “Gosh this is frustrating. You think it’s funny?!”
“Sir, that’s no way to treat a lady.”
The sudden change in tone on Joon-woo’s voice caught you by surprise. It was low and if you didn’t know any better, it sounded like he was warning Mr. Han. You could see his eyes staring into the backseat from the rear view mirror, and he was glaring at his boss.
“You shut up. Gosh you’re so annoying,” he kicked Joon-woo’s seat once again but this time, he showed no reaction. He was stiff and continued to glare at Mr. Han, and that was something you will never forget.
The car eventually arrived back at Wusang and you followed Joon-woo up to his office. He was eerily quiet. Not cracking any jokes or trying to converse with you about the trial. The moment you two stepped into his office and he closed the door, he turned to face you.
“Are you okay?”
You blinked at him. “Huh?”
He walked up to you to touch the same spot where Mr. Han flicked you. It felt a little warm to the touch and you noticed him clenching his fists. Was he… was he actually mad on your behalf? You quickly grabbed his hand and pushed it away from your skin.
“Oh that, don’t worry I’m okay. It doesn’t hurt.”
“What he said to you…” he shook his head and turned his body, causing you to flinch when he slammed his palms against the wall.
“Joon-woo… are you okay?” You walked up to him and placed your hand on his back. “He was kicking your seat as well. I know you said it hurt.”
“I don’t care what he does to me, I can tolerate it. But you? I don’t want him doing that shit to you. I don’t want him talking down on you as if you don’t mean anything.”
“Well in the eyes of Wusang, I really don’t.”
“But you mean something to me.”
His words left you speechless. Joon-woo turned to face you while his eyes held some form of emotion you couldn’t decipher. He was always care free and even during the times when he showed anger, he still seemed… normal. But the Joon-woo standing in front of you right now was cold and full of hostility — something you’ve never seen before. His hand hesitated to reach up and touch you, and he appeared to be having an internal battle with himself.
“I have to make a phone call. You want to grab something to eat after?”
“Y-Yeah, sure.” You were honestly too shocked to speak and your own stutter surprised you as well. Joon-woo shot you one of his sweet signature smiles before walking out of his office.
What the hell was that?
“And then, his demeanor completely changed. I’m talking like Billy showing himself as The Scream and saying his famous quote ‘we all go a little mad sometime’,” you ranted while mimicking the movie quote.
“You’re comparing Joon-woo to Billy from that Scream movie?” Cha-young gave you an incredulous look.
“Okay it’s not my best analogy but the personality change was there! He got so mad. I have never seen him act like that.”
Ever since that specific encounter with Joon-woo, you had to tell Cha-young about it. Sure you could’ve called or texted but talking about it in person is ten times better, plus you always prefer to ‘gossip’ face to face. You made sure to include every detail that happened, including the ones of your interactions after his comment. Joon-woo was stuck to your hip since then and he even asked if he could call you ‘babydoll’. The pet name caught you off guard and you did not hesitate to ask why, his simple answer was that he thought it was cute and fitting.
You nearly exploded when he said that.
Cha-young rubbed her temples as she appeared to be soothing herself. “______ I didn’t think you were this clueless.”
“Huh?”
“He likes you.”
Rewind and pause. “No way.”
“Yes way,” Mr. Nam answered from behind his computer. “Sounds like he has the hots for you.”
“You were listening to our conversation the whole time?” You asked with a puzzled look.
“Against our own will,” Vincenzo groaned. “Can you talk about this some other time?”
“Why? You guys have important stuff to do?”
“We do. We’re trying to find out who the real chairman of Babel is,” Mr. Nam answered for Vincenzo but was immediately silenced the moment the Korean-Italian lawyer glared at him. “I-I mean… so Joon-woo is Scream?”
You frowned at his words and faced Cha-young. “Wait what? Is Chairman Jang not the real chairman after all?”
Before Cha-young could answer, you felt your chair being dragged away from the table, the sound of its feet scraping against the floor was hell for your ears. Vincenzo pulled you back to the entrance before walking towards Cha-young.
“Hey!” You stood up and marched over to him.
“We can’t trust her,” he spoke with seriousness. “She works for Wusang.”
“As an assistant,” you clarified and bent your head down so you could face him. “Not really an important job.”
“Then why don’t you quit and work here?”
“Uh, because I’m still debating on it.”
“She’s trying to marry her future husband,” Cha-young clarified with a roll of her eyes.
“Love like this only comes once in a lifetime,” you whined and slammed your forehead on the table. “I’m a mess.”
“I agree,” Vincenzo muttered to himself but you heard him loud and clear. You shot up and pushed your body towards him as you began to shove him into a corner, your eyes shooting daggers his way.
“What did you say?” You quirked up an eyebrow and felt victorious when he clearly seemed to be uncomfortable at your proximity. You let out a huff of victory and sat down next to Cha-young but your relaxation was short lived when you felt your phone ringing in your pocket, a smile plastering on your face when you saw Joon-woo’s name pop up.
“Hello?”
“Is it your boyfriend?” Vincenzo’s voice caught you off guard as he bent his head down towards your ear, speaking very close to the microphone. The panic settled in as you stood up and began to hit him, Mr. Nam running to stop you.
“Uh, hello?” Joon-woo sounded incredibly confused.
“Hi!”
“Who was that?”
“Oh just Vincenzo being his goofy self. You know how he always wanted to be a comedian,” you stuck your tongue out in his direction when he pointed a finger at you.
“Vincenzo? You’re with him?”
“Not by choice. I came over to gossip with Cha-young. You know, girl talk.”
“Ah,” he chuckled and cleared his throat. “Well I’m going to pick you up. We’re supposed to meet up with Chairman Jang.”
At the mention of him, you thought back to your earlier conversation with the Jipuragi group, since they believed he was not the real chairman. Thanks to Vincenzo they couldn’t go into too much detail about it — much to your disappointment since you’re naturally a very curious person.
“Alright I’ll be waiting,” you smiled and hung up the phone while letting out a sigh. You did a double take when you noticed three pairs of eyes looking at you, and your face became red in embarrassment. “Don’t say a word!”
“I’m so busy as it is. Why does he want me to brief him all of a sudden? Why does he need me?” Mr. Han was on another one of his rants during the drive, and he kept looking at you and Ms. Choi when he spoke. “All the Babel companies must know how things are going.”
He may be your boss but he can sure be annoying at times.
“Joon-woo you better do a proper job. Don’t you stutter.”
“Sorry? Right, okay okay.”
You wanted to laugh at his obliviousness. He’s so adorable. He looks so innocent whenever he puts on his smile and you absolutely love it. When Mr. Han started to get after him and Joon-woo seemed to find it funny, you quietly let out a small laugh before pulling out your phone.
You: stop aggravating him. i’m suffering back here
Joon-woo ♡: LOL. I feel sorry for you
“Who are you texting?” Mr. Han poked his head by your shoulder and you swiftly flipped your phone over as you turned it off.
“No one!”
“You’re texting your boyfriend aren’t you? Ah, this is going to drive me insane,” he scratched his head and pointed a finger at you. “No texting while we’re with the Chairman, got it?”
“Yes, sir.”
The drive was rather quick before you all made it to Babel’s office building. You all were escorted to one of their conference rooms and you took a seat next to Ms. Choi, but you couldn’t stop staring at Chairman Jang without thinking about Vincenzo’s and Cha-young’s speculation. He’s a phony… apparently. But he didn’t look like one to you, if anything, he fits the CEO look perfectly.
You turned your attention to the front and shot Joon-woo a thumbs up, sending him all your luck for his presentation in front of the Chairman.
“Begin. I said, start,” Mr. Han whispered.
“Alright then, I will begin the briefing,” Joon-woo spoke through the microphone before stepping aside, giving you all a good view of the TV. ‘The Secret of Babel’ ascended on the screen and you choked back a laugh when you realized Joon-woo went for a Star Wars theme as the intro.
“I will now reveal the secret of the Babel Group, WOW!”
You looked towards Ms. Choi and Mr. Han who seemed super confused with the direction the briefing was going, but Mr. Han was quick to let out a laugh before turning to face Chairman Jang.
“We came up with a fun briefing,” he awkwardly laughed but was brushed off by the Chairman.
“Chairman Jang Guk-hwan, the founder of Haemun Group, now known as Babel Group, had two sons.”
You felt your body freeze at his words, giving you confirmation that the theory Vincenzo and Cha-young have could be true. Is the other brother the actual Chairman? And if so, who is it? But right now, you were more confused on where Joon-woo’s presentation is actually heading to. You thought this was going to be a quick briefing about Babel, not the Jang family. Your superiors seemed to share the same confusion as you and even the Chairman looked a bit uncomfortable.
Yet, Joon-woo continued with a smile before skipping to the next slide. “He and his wife, Hwang Suk-jin, had their eldest son. As for his second son, he was birthed by Seo Min-hui, a young secretary,” he paused for a second while walking up to the screen. “Instead of focusing on the company, he cheated.”
Your hand shot up to your mouth at his words and you quickly turned to look at everyone else. Mr. Han let out another one of his discomfort laughs before standing up. “Hey, Joon-woo! What are you saying? Joon-woo! Come back here.”
But Chairman Jang tapped the table to grab his attention, ordering him to sit down which threw you off. He’s allowing this presentation? Mr. Han did as he was told but when you looked at Joon-woo from the corner of your eye, you noticed his expression. It was the same expression he wore that one time when you were insulted in the car after the trial.
“First,” he continued on like nothing, “who is his second son? It’s none other than Chairman Jang Han-seo! What a surprise!”
He aimed a laser at him and Chairman Jang opened his arms up with an awkward smile before resorting back to his emotionless face. You were not liking this. The air felt thick and your palms were beginning to sweat.
“Now, who is the eldest son?” Joon-woo began to click through pictures on the screen. “He was always smart and active. He was always the top student.” He began to walk around while appearing to be passionate about his wording. “He didn’t graduate from Stanford Law School as a top student, but he got good grades. On top of that, God has made him perfect and charismatic.”
The way he’s talking about the eldest son… you didn’t like it. It sounded like bragging. Like he was taunting all of you.
“So who is it? Who?”
Your hands began to shake as you held them up to your face. The moment the screen switched to a ‘Who is the true king of Babel?’ and a picture of Joon-woo sitting on a throne with a crown popped up, you nearly fell out of your chair. He walked to the edge of the table and leaned his hands down against it.
“It’s me. Jang Joon-woo.”
You heard Mr. Han stutter something out but you didn’t even care. Your mind is trying to process the information that was just given to you. You really, really hoped this was just a silly prank from Joon-woo, but doing this in front of his superiors? He wouldn’t risk his career for that.
“The real owner of the Babel Group is Jang Joon-woo!” He screamed out before looking at Chairman Jang. “Han-seo, are you ready?”
Then the brother’s proceeded to start singing and chanting with Mr. Han joining them soon after.
“I fooled you all! Babel Group is actually mine!” Joon-woo chanted as he ran towards your side of the table, started to do the worm, and grab your shoulders as he shook you from side to side. Let me go, is what you wanted to say but you didn’t seem to have a voice right now. Mr. Han was the first to apologize as he bowed down to Joon-woo.
“I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me for my transgressions.” He looked petrified.
“It’s okay. I had fun,” Joon-woo waved him off with a smile.
So was your friendship with him just pretend as well? Something to add to his Joon-woo persona? You remember Cha-young and Mr. Nam telling you that it appeared Joon-woo likes you, but after this situation, you started to wonder if his feelings are even real. Was everything a fucking lie? He wasn’t even looking at you yet, which is giving you the opportunity to shoot a murderous glare towards his direction. How dare he play with your fucking heart like that.
“Sit down,” he gestured for all of you to take a seat, but you remained standing up, which caused everyone to look in your direction. “______?”
You clenched your jaw but refused to move. The sound of someone kicking the table made you flinch, and your eyes landed on an irritated Mr. Han. “Hey, you! Are you deaf? Gosh you never–”
The sound of a hand slamming against the table made everyone flinch, and it quickly shut Mr. Han up. “Mr. Han,” Joon-woo spoke through gritted teeth. “Is that any way to speak to a lady?”
“S-Speak to a lady? Uh, no no no you’re r-right, my apologies ______,” he stuttered out with fear.
“Sit,” Joon-woo smiled up at you.
“Yes, sir,” your voice was dripping with venom as you slowly sat down. You practically tuned out the whole conversation, not paying attention to what they were discussing. Nothing that they spoke about was of any importance to you, and frankly, you could care less about your career at Wusang now. Joon-woo was a two faced liar who played everyone, including you. He made you feel special and you thought everything he did for you was genuine.
The meeting was rather short and it ended quickly before everyone began to get out of their chairs. You didn’t wait for a response as you left the room, that suffocating feeling completely gone now since it felt like you could finally breathe. You wanted out, especially when the guy you like turns out to possibly be a murderous CEO. Come to think of it, Joon-woo is Billy from the Scream since he just revealed himself to all of you.
Yeah, things were definitely not going your way.

The sun was slowly settling down while you were making your way to the cafe at the corner of the street.
November was one of your least favourite months because of the short days and humid, unpleasant weather. It demotivated you to wake up while it was still dark outside and leaving work when the sun was already settling down.
Working at one of the best law firms never made it easy to leave work earlier than 6 pm. There’s tons of paperwork and when you’re finally done, your boss always finds something to keep you at work. You’re starting to believe he really hates you to another level, but if it’s indeed the case, it’s reciprocal.
When you finally reached the cafe, you were on your last legs. After quickly ordering an iced americano, you sat down on one of the free tables. It was usually pretty empty at 7 pm since most of the people would rather directly go home after working the whole day than stay in a cafe. However, you loved to spend time there since one of your childhood dreams was to open your own cafeteria. Sadly, your parents never agreed to it and you ended up having to follow their dream path.
“Y/N?” You turned around when someone mentioned your name, only to be face to face with a young man in his mid-twenties. At first, you had no clue how he knew you but then you slowly recognised him thanks to the tiny scar on his left cheek.
“Changho?” You smiled at the unexpected meeting. “It’s been so long since I last saw you.” You chuckled and got up for a quick hug.
“Do you mind if I join your table?” He asked, smiling.
“Not at all.”
After sitting down, you both got your drinks and got lost in a long conversation. You would never think you’d meet your best friend from elementary school again after he left to study abroad. At first, you’d keep in touch regularly but then you both got caught up with studies, work and you eventually lost contact.
Back in time, you two were inseparable and you treated him as if he was your actual brother. People at school would in fact gossip about you two dating but you never saw him that way. Your love for each other was purely platonic.
“I’m glad I came back here.” He admitted, looking at you.
“Why didn’t you stay in Australia? I thought it was your dream to work there.” You asked, sipping on your iced americano.
“I really loved studying there but I didn’t feel at the right place. The atmosphere wasn’t the same as here, in my motherland so I ended up deciding to come back here and have a new start.”
“Well I’m not gonna lie, I’m happy you’re back. I missed having my brother here.” You admitted and looked at the cafe’s clock to check the time.
“Oh gosh, I’d love to stay more here with you but I really have to go, work has been a mess these days and I’m craving to go to bed.” You looked at apologetically, scratching your neck.
“Don’t worry, I couldn’t possibly agree more, I had lost of work as well.” You both laughed and exchanged your numbers to meet some other day.
“Hold on, tell me y/n, did you finally find your prince on a white horse?” He raised one of his eyebrows, sipping on his drink.
Changho almost chocked on his drink after you proudly showed him the engagement ring.
“No way! When did that happen!?” He smiled.
“A few months ago, it was really unexpected but he made sure the moment was unforgettable.” You softly chuckled at the memory of Hanseok holding a box with a beautiful ring inside.
“I definitely have to meet him someday and tell him how much of a lucky guy he is. Congratulations!” You both high-fived and eventually left the cafeteria.
“Do you need me to call a taxi for you?” He was about to grab his phone but you shook your head.
“No need, I live around 10 minutes from here.” You reassured him but his face was hesitant.
“We talked a lot though and it got pretty dark.” He looked around at the few street lamps that didn’t give much light. “Let me walk you home, it’ll be safer.” He suggested and you ended up agreeing.
The walk was short but you obviously felt more comfortable with someone by your side.
“It was nice seeing you again, I look forward to our next meeting.” Changho waved at you and left once you were at your doorstep.
“See you!” You smiled and grabbed the keys in your purse.
“Hanseok I’m home!” You exclaimed but pouted when there was no response.
You took off your shoes and made your way into the living room but your fiancé was nowhere to be seen. It didn’t worry you though since you thought he was simply still at work.
You were about to boil some water to make yourself some tea when someone turned you around and planted a rather harsh kiss on your lips. You didn’t panic though because you knew it couldn’t be no one else other than Hanseok.
After about 5 minutes of your make out session, you broke the kiss and wrapped your arms around his bare neck, admiring his toned chest.
“Well that was a warm welcome.” You chuckled but frowned when his lips didn’t even twitch into a smile. “Did something happen?” You asked, unsure.
“Why did you come home so late, hm?” He hummed, softly caressing your neck, not even making eye contact with you.
“I got caught up with work, you know how my boss hates me.” You sighed, deciding to lie because you knew he wouldn’t like it if you mentioned you were with another boy.
“Work, huh?” His soft grip on your neck suddenly got tighter and his eyes turned cold, finally meeting yours. “Weren’t you perhaps caught up in a conversation with a man in a cafe?”
“Did you really follow me?” You sneered, not believing it but his grip got stronger.
“Why would you meet another man and why would you fucking lie to me about it!?” He screamed.
“That’s exactly why I lied! You’re already making a big deal about it even though you don’t know why I was with him!” You exclaimed, frustrated.
“Don’t you remember how many times I told you I’m the only man you need in your life? No other man can satisfy you as much as I can!” He smirked.
Before explaining everything, you freed yourself from his grip around your neck. You coughed a few times and cleared your throat.
“We met by accident today! He’s my old best friend from school. This man was like a brother to me and he’s the only one who was there for me when I was a kid. You know how my parents were at that time. He used to be the only person who actually cared about me.” You sighed, however the anger in Hanseok’s eyes didn’t go away.
“Awh, I’m supposed to get emotional? He is still a man, a very important one for you as I can see. You better not meet him again.” He gritted trough his teeth.
“Or what? You’re gonna kill him?” You sneered at him, rolling your eyes.
“You wanna bet?” He smirked, cocking his head to the side. “Don’t roll your eyes at me.” He threatened.
“I hate you.” You pushed him away and were about to leave but he grabbed your arm and put you back against the counter.
“I wasn’t done with the conversation.” He said, putting both his arms against the counter, hovering over you and blocking your way out.
“I’m tired of you being so possessive! I hate how you don’t trust me when I talk to other guys. Do you really think I’d hook up with each guy I talk to? As I see, I’m nothing more than a whore in your eyes. Plus, I just learned that you follow me around. You really don’t trust me to that point?” You sighed, becoming more frustrated.
“I don’t trust you? Oh sweetie, I trust you with my life, I just don’t trust the scumbags who talk with you. I mean, I don’t even want to start imagining what they must think when they see such a pretty face with a perfect body.” He whispered, tracing both of his hands on your upper thighs. “Regarding the following, I ordered a few bodyguards to watch you because, in case you forgot, a few people wish to kill me right now and I can’t let anything happen to you!”
“I don’t care what these men think, I only got my eyes on you anyway.” You exhaled and ran your hand trough his locks. “Plus, you keep our relationship secret so I doubt your enemies know about me.”
“Princess, you have no clue how the world I live in works, I can guarantee they have informations about you and that’s why I have to keep an eye on you.” He softly pecked your forehead.
“If you say so… but you have to stop acting this way whenever I talk with a guy, promise?” You showed him your pinky and he locked it with his as a promise. “If a guy ever gets too close to me, I’ll beat him by myself.” You said proudly, making Hanseok smile.
“Hm, sure.” Hanseok caressed your cheek.
“Let’s go to sleep now, we both have to wake up early tomorrow.” You rubbed your eyes and your fiancé suddenly picked you up.
“As you wish, princess. You do know that you can quit your job anytime though? I can give you everything you need.” He smirked and softly pecked your forehead.
“Even though my boss is horrible, I like my job. Plus, I want to have my own money that I earned by working hard.” You admitted.
“That’s my girl.” He chuckled and laid you down on the bed. “However let me atleast call your boss to say you’ll be absent tomorrow, hm? So we can have some fun together.” He whispered the last part and you felt a strand of wet kisses along your neck.
His hands were busy exploring your body while his mouth was leaving marks on your neck. One of his fingers was about to travel under your skirt but you stopped him.
“Not today, I’m too tired and still a bit mad.” You turned around and heard him laugh.
“Alright fine princess, but you better turn back around.” He quickly wrapped his arms around your waist and put your head on his bare chest. “Way better.” He nodded and you laughed before falling into the arms of Morpheus.
Hanseok slowly caressed your hair and even though he promised to not get angry and possessive when he sees you with another guy, he knew he’ll break the promise the second it’ll happen again. You are his and he can’t let anyone hurt you or take you away from him.

The night was young, just barely five o'clock when a message pinged on your phone.
'I'll be picking you up soon.'
As you glanced over the message, the doorbell rang.
'would that be you outside by any chance?' You sent back, making your way quietly to the front door and glancing out the peephole.
To your surprise, it was definitely not Han-Seok. Instead, you were greeted by the sight of an old friend. She stepped anxiously back and forth as she awaited your answer, in her hands, she gripped a briefcase that buckled under the stress of her fingers.
'no, who's there?'
The next text from Han-Seok flashed across your screen and you decided to ignore the message for a moment, you unlocked the front door and slid it open.
"Ha-Joon?" You questioned, fingers tapping the door frame rhythmically as you awaited a response.
She responded almost instantly, eyes wide with what seemed like urgency and… terror. "(Y/n)," she breathed a sigh before looking past you and into your home, you took the hint.
"Would you like to come in?" You asked, stepping aside to allow her room to enter. "I just bought a new wine, it's a Bordeaux. I hope you don't mind, it's my favorite. Sit down. I'll pour us a glass."
The woman looked around briefly before sliding by you into the foyer of your home, she looked around once more before finding a seat on the love seat by the left hallway. She took a moment to breathe before nodding slowly, "Wine would be nice."
You nodded, before stepping into the adjoined kitchen, it was separated by a small wall- but it gave you just enough privacy to check your phone.
'(y/n)?'
'is everything okay?'
'you're worrying me.'
He had sent a couple more messages upon your sudden absence. You glanced into the living room to make sure Ha-Joon was still where you left her before responding,
'everything's fine, unexpected visitor. that's all.'
You paused for a moment before sending a follow-up, 'you remember Ha-Joon right? she just showed up at my front door. seems pretty shaken up.'
The messages were sent and you made your way over to the wine cabinet, you bent down to grab a bottle. They still had the import labels on the cases, so you made sure to choose one that was newer- saving the oldest ones for more important occasions. The bottle was weighty- nothing you'd ever been able to afford before this. This being Han-Seok, he demanded nothing but the best for you, and for that, you were nothing short of grateful. He was an amazing boyfriend and an even better CEO, some would debate that last part but you didn’t really care.
You grabbed two wine glasses from the hanging rack above the cabinet and on the same trip grabbed the bottle opener, you were adorned in a white gown that had been dropped off a few hours previous for your date with Han-Seok tonight- it made handling the wine a much more dangerous task. The last thing you wanted to do was ruin your dress before he could ever see it on.
As you popped the cork from the bottle, you heard your phone buzz on the counter. You decided to ignore it for the moment being as you were too preoccupied with the task at hand. You filled both glasses with the musky red liquid before making your way back into the living area.
"Sorry about that, I didn't mean to take so long." you apologized, handing Ha-Joon the glass before taking a seat on the sofa directly adjacent to the love seat.
"Don't apologize, I'm the one intruding. You look lovely, are you going out with someone?" She asked timidly, taking a long swig of the alcohol. She was disheveled, hair was falling haphazardly from her ponytail and her clothes were wrinkled and had spots of stains near the cuffs of her blouse.
A smile graced your lips as you nodded, "Yeah, in about an hour I think; but don't worry about the intrusion- I'm more than happy to host a friend." You watched as she finished off the glass before pushing a little deeper. "Joon, why are you here? Are you in some kind of trouble?"
It was beyond obvious how things looked here, from an external view, she looked crazy. It was late on a Sunday and she just showed up unannounced after not seeing each other for more than three years. It felt suspicious.
"I'm.. in a lot of trouble right now. I remembered you had connections to Wusang and I needed to see you immediately. I need a lawyer, fast." She spoke in a hushed tone as if someone else was within earshot- whatever was bothering her seemed big.
You did have connections to Wusang, to probably some of the best lawyers in Korea. Usually, the law firm only handled civil rights and big corporation cases- what could a reporter need with that kind of protection? You cocked an eyebrow, moving a hand to smooth out the waves in your hair. "What's going on? What aren't you telling me?" You probed, taking a sip of wine- leaving a red lipstick stain on the glass.
"Can I trust you to not tell anyone what I'm about to tell you?" The woman was stern, eyes hardened. "This information is dangerous."
An instant nod was what she was met with, you even playfully held out your pinky. The danger wasn't something you were scared of. Not while you had a psychopath on speed dial with an army of the best guards in Korea. "Your information is safe with me, I swear."
The briefcase was slammed on the table as she opened it, making the vase of lilies jump at the force. You steadied the vase before focusing on the labels of all of the files that had been compiled- within each label there were corresponding bags filled with tapes and hard drives. As you glanced over the names- you saw something familiar, 'Jang Han-Seok childhood'
"What is all of this? And what does this have to do with Wusang?" You asked, thumbing through a file you'd just picked up.
"It's evidence." She whispered, a hand moving to lay over your own. "Against Babel group and the CEO.. Jang Han-Seok."
Your stomach dropped and as you flipped the file open- you realized just what you were looking at. Pages and pages of incriminating data, which seemed to come directly from babel as the pages sported the familiar logo. This was more than enough evidence to indict Han-Seok of tax fraud, union harassment, murder, and so so much more. The actions of the Babel group were the furthest thing from clean but that didn't make them all that bad, the company had its good and its bad. The same went for Han-Seok. He has his moments but he's not a bad guy.
"Who else has seen this?" You questioned, keeping your tone even as you tried to formulate a plan to dispose of her. Friendship meant nothing at this moment, the safety of Han-Seok and Babel's legacy is what mattered now.
Her hands ran through her dark strands before she answered, "Just me and you, so far. I want to take it to the law though, and with the power that monster holds- I'm scared of what might happen if I'm not protected."
Monster..
"Do you want some more wine? We can talk this over more and then get you in communication with an attorney as soon as possible." You offered, hand gliding across the table to collect the empty glass.
"Thank you, I'd really like that."
A forced smile fluttered across your lips as you stood to move into the kitchen. As you ducked behind the wall separating the room, you opened your phone to your messages with Han-Seok.
'I remember her very well.' was his reply.
'get here soon, dinner might have to wait.’ Your reply was simple, yet effective. As soon as the message was delivered, his reply was almost instant.
'I'll be there in thirty, babydoll.'
You closed out your phone and scanned the kitchen before you decided on the weapon of choice. A simple kitchen knife was the best option, albeit messy. A small sigh left your lips as you looked down at the beautiful dress that Han-Seok had picked out for you just this morning, it was white silk and as much as you hated to ruin it- you knew he wouldn't mind.
"Wine seems to be an issue at the moment, it seems these bottles hate me. Would you mind helping me out really quickly?" You called out, moving the knife to the island situated in the middle of the kitchen.
Footsteps could be heard, and each one solidified your plan. She was so close, if only she knew she was going to die- how different things would be right now.
She appeared around the corner and took notice of your phone on the counter near the wine bottle, "I struggle with these all the time, but I think I've mastered the art of manipulating the bottles." She let out a relaxed laugh, turning her back to you before beginning to fumble with the new bottle you had retrieved from the cabinet.
"So, personally, how do you feel about Jang Han-Seok?" You tested, hand gripping the handle of the knife through the sheath of cloth it was concealed in. Not to make it personal, but you were genuinely curious how someone like her saw him. To you, he was a gentleman. Polite, kind, romantic, paced, protective, and incredibly smart. He knew how to make the world work for him, not the other way around.
"I think what any sane person would think, he's insane. Corrupt, cruel, dangerous. If I was the law, I wouldn't let a man like that roam the streets free. I know you probably don't know, but he murdered some boys he went to school with, and he's actually diagnosed as a psychopath. He's not all there mentally. He needs to be locked in a psych ward or something." She ranted on and on, every word full of slander and hatred.
It made you sick. Hearing someone be so disrespectful. The more you thought about it- the more justified this killing felt. She's a risk, yes. More than that, she's a bitch.
"-I bet he's a pervert too,"
"Yeah, you think so?" You replied, hand clenching the base of the knife.
"Of course. Men like that are always creepy-"
You held back the contempt that flooded your veins, the last thing you needed to do was alert her to her newfound fate. The knife shook slightly within your grip, reminding you of the goal here.
Kill her.
"-and with Jang Han-Seok's history of violence, I can only imagine his track record with women isn't much better. Wouldn't that be something? Getting him on charges of rape or prostitution?" She sounded so proud of herself, even while saying something so vile- it was lighthearted, funny even.
KILL HER.
Your brain screamed at you with every crude remark but you knew you couldn't be too hasty. Hastiness leads to sloppy work and a chance of escape. You couldn't let her leave this house, not alive at least.
"So you must know of his internship at Wusang? Wouldn't that be a dangerous risk to take, what if he still has contacts there as well? Like, a rat?" The question was aimed at the reputability of Wusang, did she really know as much as she thought she did?
The girl paused, her entire body halting in response to the question. "Wait." She began, placing both hands on the counter. "I didn't tell you that."
In hindsight, it might have been a bit of a mistake on your part but so be it.
"Oops."
You kicked into action, hand moving to ravel in her hair. The other pressed the cold steel into her neck with just enough pressure to draw blood. Between the two, she stood no chance.
"Don't take this personally, but I will not let you ruin our lives." You grunted as she attempted to wriggle away, in turn, you dug the tip into just barely into her windpipe. "Stop fighting, die with some dignity."
"Why? P-please, you don't have to do this." Tears had begun to run down her face, it almost made you feel bad- she was so young, yet so stupid.
You drug her head back enough to make eye contact, "Where did you get all of this?" You pressed, fingers digging into her scalp. "And do you have copies?"
Ha-Joon's face crumpled, eyes filling with betrayal. "You're with him, aren't you?" She looked disgusted, with herself or you- you’d never know. "Whatever he promised you isn't worth it. He's fucking crazy, wake up (y/n)!" Pleading wouldn't save her now.
"I'm not just doing this for him, sweetheart. It's for our future. I'm protecting it from people like you. Now answer my goddamn questions." The knife had now created a line of blood from the struggling she'd been doing, it sent blood dripping down her neck.
Her voice shook, but her words couldn't be more clear. "Why should I? You're going to kill me either way, it doesn't do me any good."
Fair enough.
You smiled, letting a laugh slip. She couldn’t just cooperate, she had to push. Oh well, your conscious was already filthy. "Why? Well, if I remember correctly- you have a son at home. Sung-ho, isn't that his name?" The air became stale, the silence broken by nothing but ragged breaths. "It would be a shame if something happened to that cutie, wouldn't it?"
"You're a fucking monster, leave him out of this! He's just a kid. Just kill me, me- not him. He's innocent." She begged, struggling against your grip. "I'll tell you what you want to know, just promise me he won't be harmed."
You pretended to contemplate her bargain, It's exactly what you wanted but the fear factor was just too good to pass up. As fucked as it was, you were no better than Han-Seok. He found you when you were caught in a bad situation, he saved you. He then took you in and taught you everything he knew. Politics, business, betrayal, and coercement. "Deal."
"Thank god," She breathed, swallowing hard as she averted her gaze from your own. "I got all of the evidence from the chairman's laptop. I snuck in and stole it, all of it."
How the fuck? She must have had some kind of help, how else could she bypass his security? His office was guarded 24/7 due to the nature of sensitive materials it contained. Not to mention the encryptions on his personal laptop, all of that made her story either made-up or deeper than she tried to lead you to believe. A problem for later.
"And the copies? Do any exist? Digitally or physically." You made sure to specify, most people will try to find a loophole in just about anything. None of this evidence could survive tonight, they seemed to share that fate.
Ha-Joon hesitated before reluctantly nodding, "I have all of the data backed up on a hard drive, it's locked up in my office. I have the keys to the building, take them- they're in my back pocket."
You could just take them off her corpse, not a problem on your end.
"This has been fun but I really don't want to have to kill you, Joon." Your tone softened, "We've been friends for years and I care for you. I want to let you go."
Her breath quickened, "Really? You can let me go, (y/n). I won't tell anyone about this and I'll get rid of the hard drive myself. After that, I'll disappear. You'll never have to worry about me again." She was always good on her word, you could trust her on this.
"Okay, fine." You nodded, releasing your grip little by little. The knife lifted off her throat, edge coated in her blood.
She closed her eyes in relief, a sigh falling from her lips. "Thank you-"
Her head was jerked back and the knife serrated her neck before she had enough time to react. Gasps of shock and pain left her mouth as she clasped her hand over her throat, It was spraying blood in all directions as she began to crumble to the floor.
"I didn't really mean all that if you couldn't tell. You're a liability to me, you were never going to leave alive. From the beginning, ever since you opened your mouth about all of this, your fate had been sealed." You began, bending down with her as she fell onto the hardwood. "You have to understand, Joon. He's everything to me, you're just collateral damage."
Her body finally completely gave out and she stopped trying to get away. Her mouth opened and closed, over and over again before she let her hand fall from the gaping hole in her neck. It sprayed thick, hot blood all over you as she gargled on the blood now filling her lungs.
You glanced over towards the knife you had dropped after the initial cut, it couldn't hurt to just keep going- could it? Your fingers grasped the knife in your hand and a rush of adrenaline filled your veins, it felt too good to stop now.
Your body moved on instinct, bringing the knife down into her chest with a swift movement. A sickly crack rang out, signifying her chest plate had more than likely cracked at the force. It was music to your ears. You dislodged the knife before plunging it into her stomach, twisting it in a crude attempt to hurt her. As if her body could regulate pain at this point.
Over and over and over again. The knife sliced with deadly precision as you mutilated her corpse. Anyone could tell this was beyond excessive, but god it was so hard to stop. Her blood was so warm and her skin so delicate.
Before you knew it, she was unrecognizable.
You let the knife fall to the floor, landing with a dramatic 'thunk'. Your dress had been absolutely ruined in the chaos. Blood stains were splattered across it haphazardly, the silk taking on a rusty red color. Han-Seok wouldn't mind, you were sure of that. Your face was adorned in a spray of blood droplets, but you couldn't be bothered to mess with it.
The wine glass stood half-filled on the counter where she once stood. You took it into your hand and hopped up on the center island, letting your feet dangle. You simply watched as the lake of blood expanded, making a home on the white tile floor.
An art form you could appreciate.
The front door made a clicking noise as it unlocked, signaling to you that Han-Seok had made his arrival to the party. Perfect timing, as always.
"Babydoll?" He called out, footsteps closing in as he made his way from the hallway. He could tell something was up, the house was eerily quiet for this time of night. You usually had music playing, especially when getting ready to go out.
"In here, love." Your voice rang out from the kitchen, the nickname making his lips twitch into a smile momentarily. At least this was proof that you were okay, that was his main worry on his way here.
When he got your text, he had been at the office, setting up a few last-minute transactions before dinner. To say the least, he left the building in record time.
The kitchen light glared in on the dim living area, and as he got closer he could smell the metallic giveaway for blood. His brow knitted together as he entered the room, stopping mid-step to take in the mess that made up the kitchen floor. Blood was everywhere. On the counters, the floors, the cabinets, it even somehow sprayed the ceiling. His eyes then landed on the body or the mangled mess that used to one.
"This is your friend? Could've fooled me." He smirked, stripping off his suit jacket at the door before rolling up his sleeves. He stepped into the kitchen, shoes becoming caked with blood as he moved closer.
You shrugged, finishing off the glass of wine. "She came in as my friend and now she's going to be leaving in a duffle bag. Funny how things like this happen, huh?" Your words were lighthearted, unbothered by the act you'd committed tonight.
He chuckled, "Speaking of things happening, what led to this?" His tone was curious, he couldn't care less if this was just a casual murder. Han-Seok moved to stand between your legs at the island, hands on either side of your hips.
"She was going to ruin you. A huge briefcase of evidence that would take you and the Babel group down. She was a liability." You stated simply, looking up at him. He was much taller than you were and even on the island he still wasn't eye level. "I took care of her and I got the keys to get the backed up data in her office. We can destroy it all before anyone even knows it exists."
Han-Seok smiled, moving a hand to caress your cheek- smearing some of the blood that had yet to dry. "That's my girl," He hummed, hand trailing to the nape of your neck. His fingers intertwined in your hair before gently pulling your head back, forcing you to look up at him more. "You've made me so proud."
His lips crashed down onto yours with bruising force, fingers holding your hair tight in his fist. The blood on your face smudged onto him, leaving him with lips tinted a deep red when he pulled away.
Dinner was canceled.

decided to rewatch vincenzo but in japanese dub for the funsies... turns out it was the best decision ever. so here's my thoughts the japanese version of the jang bros!
hanseok's voice actor uses this cutesy voice for his junwoo persona, which I like A LOT. then he switches to this deep, husky anime villain-esque kinda voice for his real self. which is super cool since taecyeon didn't really differentiate his voices that much. I totally didn't mean to shit on taecyeon he's a great actor I love him but since this is a dub, the voice actor probably has more effort to pour into making hanseok's personality shine from his voice alone.
hanseo's voice actor sounds sooo similar to kensho ono that I actually thought it was him initially, but apparently it wasn't him. hanseo's voice actor has that quality that sounds good when he's yelling, and I think that fits hanseo a lot. some things I've noticed is that hanseo calls hanseok "bosu" (boss) and sometimes slips to "nii-san" (brother) when they're alone. also he uses the personal pronoun "watashi" when talking to hanseok, but uses "ore" for everyone else, which is probably just him being polite, but I find it kinda cute lol.

Ever since you confessed your feelings towards Han-seok, your life has been at a full bliss — not to mention how magical that night felt. The two of you completely ditched the party and checked in at an exclusive hotel where you fucked all night and all morning. You both agreed to only reveal your relationship to Ms. Choi, Mr. Han, and Han-seo, and that it would be better to keep your relationship private and far away from the media.
The only issue now is you don’t know where your loyalty lies anymore. You’re still an undercover spy for Vincenzo right now, regardless on how you feel towards Han-seok. Your duty is to report back to your brother, something you’ve been slacking on a lot, but also because your crazy boyfriend won’t leave you out of his sight at all. Whenever you get the chance to be on your phone — away from Han-seok’s eyes — you would give Vincenzo very little intel, something that he’s starting to grow suspicious of but you kept promising him that’s all you know. You’re not sure how long it’ll be until he realizes the truth.
Hopefully he won’t for your sake.
But there’s also the fact that you’re lying to Han-seok. You’re genuinely terrified of what he’ll do and how he will react when he finds out your true identity. Will he believe you when you try to explain that you actually like him? Is he going to kill you for “toying” with his heart? He’s dangerous and although you could handle him, he’s very unpredictable.
You were too lost in your thoughts to even notice Han-seok driving at an extreme speed. The moment he swerved the SUV to the left to avoid hitting a car, you snapped out of your trance and looked at him.
“Han-seok!” You yelled. “What the fuck is your problem?!”
“That fucking Italian scumbag and Cha-young are going to pay,” he lowly muttered to himself but you were able to hear him.
“What do you mean?”
“I know it was them,” he gripped the steering wheel. “Breaking into the arty gallery. Knowing about the paper company. They know, so. Much. Information.”
He unexpectedly yelled out in frustration, causing you to flinch. Even though you’ve been around him for so much you’re still not fully used to his outbursts.
You also weren’t aware of any plan that consisted of breaking in to an art gallery that held secret information for Babel. Yes, you may have been slacking lately with your information but Vincenzo always made sure to tell you everything about their plans — just in case you needed to keep Han-seok distracted.
Are they keeping information from you now? It’s not like you deserve to know now anyways, but still. You felt a little betrayed.
Speak for yourself.
You ignored your thoughts and held on tightly as Han-seok kept driving at an extreme speed. “Baby, can you please slow down.”
“No.”
“Han-seok.”
“Shut up.”
“You fucking son of a bitch,” you quietly muttered to yourself.
“Hm, what was that?” He stepped on the gas even more. “Did you just curse at me?”
“Han-seok, stop!” Your heart began to beat erratically at how swiftly you were zooming past every car. “You better stop with your fucking tantrum or I’m sleeping at my place tonight.”
He cackled. “As if.”
“You wanna bet? I would love to see you try and stop me.”
His nostrils flared and he slowly lifted his foot off the gas, the SUV finally going back to normal speed.
“Fine. You’re no fun.”
“I would rather not die,” you huffed before crossing your arms over your chest.
He shot you a quick glance before reaching over — definitely to touch your boob — but you just smacked his hand away and he scowled.
“You lost your boob touch privileges for the next hour.”
It wasn’t long until you both arrived at the art gallery, heading inside and making a direct bee line into the director’s office. Ms. Choi and Han-seo were already waiting for you, and you took notice of a red-head lady facing down. The three of them snapped their heads towards your direction, and she looked mortified when her eyes landed on Han-seok. The stillness in the air made the atmosphere very suffocating, letting you know that something bad was bound to happen in a few seconds.
Han-seok put his best poker face on as he took a seat in one of the chairs. “Well?” He faintly smiled up at Ms. Choi.
“They managed to steal the file that holds all of the information about the paper company, sir.”
You bit the inside of your cheek. “Was it Vincenzo and Cha-young?”
“Yes. We looked through the security cameras. It was confirmed to be them, along with a few other suspicious people. We’re sure they were all working together.”
They did it. They actually did it. A few months ago you would’ve been internally cheering for them and then invite them for drinks after.
But you’re the complete opposite right now. You’re hurt. Betrayed. Angry. Probably because you feel a small ounce of protectiveness against Han-seok, and also because Vincenzo — your brother — never told you about this little heist they had planned out. You felt Han-seok’s hand touch your arm, signaling you that he wanted his emergency gummy bears.
Yes, this psychopath has a secret stash of gummy bears he likes to carry around.
You pulled out the bag and handed it over. His silence spoke more than words, and you already knew he was a ticking time bomb, with just a few minutes left until he blows up.
“Why would you hold such a stupid event and cause so much trouble?” Han-seo began to scold the red-head. “The gallery is not your playground!”
She immediately got on her knees and began to bow at Han-seok, causing you to lift an eyebrow in her direction. “I’m so sorry, sir.”
But Han-seok remained unbothered, if anything, Han-seo was the one who seemed furious as he slammed his hand on the table. “This won’t end with you.”
His little outburst made your boyfriend speak up. “Be quiet. I’m thinking.”
“This is ridiculous,” Han-seo answered. “It’s like she doesn’t think at all!”
You’ve never seen him so angry before. It was definitely a sight to see, a rare one as of matter of fact. You were just about to speak until Ms. Choi beat you to it.
“You should leave the country before they bar you from going abroad,” she suggested.
What?!
“Why? Go where?” You asked.
“Yeah, why?” Han-seo jumped in. “I’ll take the fall for him. Why bother?”
“All the evidence they have points to you. They will be able to track the IP address from the gallery back to your home,” Ms. Choi explained the situation.
You felt yourself clenching and unclenching your fists at the thought of the police arresting Han-seok. Was that actually possible? Maybe there could be a way around it. Your mind began to wander at any possible ideas that could save him from going to prison, but while you did this, you took notice in the way Han-seo’s facial expression changed at the information. He almost looked…relieved. You narrowed your eyes at him, waiting for him to look in your direction, and the moment he locked eyes with you he swiftly looked away, showing clear signs of being uncomfortable.
You returned your attention back to Han-seok who was already looking up at you. A part of you wanted him to stay, but if whatever Ms. Choi was saying is true and whatever was on that file can send him to prison, you did not want to risk it. You shot him a sad smile, letting him know that you’re okay with him going away for a bit.
“Han-seo. Get me and ______ the earliest flight leaving for New York now.”
“Wait what?”
“Yes, sir.”
You and Han-seo spoke at the same time. You could tell Ms. Choi was also caught by surprise at his request, and you furrow your brows down at him. “You want me to go?”
“Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”
“I feel like I won’t be as much use to you in New York. If anything, I want to track Vincenzo down for you. Just give me the order, please, and I’ll do it.”
As much as New York with him sounds fun, you need to see Vincenzo immediately. Other than giving him a piece of your mind, maybe there’s a way you can delete whatever file they stole, which will save Han-seok from prison.
Look at you, wanting to yell at your brother for not filling you in on their plan but you’re also trying to help the enemy. Hypocrite.
Stop. You need to stop thinking about that.
Han-seok shrugged at your suggestion. “There will be no need for that. New York isn’t always safe either. You’ll be there as my bodyguard, to protect me.”
Of course he would use that excuse.
You noticed Han-seo taking his leave as he began to look for flights for you both. The room grew quiet again, which made Han-seok stand up from his chair and slowly walk towards something that you assumed was a piece of marble. Your eyes followed his form, eyeing him suspiciously, before he suddenly began to angrily stomp on the marble slab on the floor.
Yep, there it is. His angry outburst that was waiting to happen.
He lifted up the piece and began to slam it down onto the floor, causing the red-haired director to silently cry at the sight in front of her.
He bellowed out one last scream before turning his body towards Ms. Choi. “Before I leave, I want to see Vincenzo’s dead body.”
She nodded her head at his demand, but you? You felt your blood run cold at his words. Why is he asking her that? Did the two of them plan something behind your back? Did Han-seok also go behind your back without letting you know? Your body began to tremble at all the questions that spurred in your head, and you didn’t even notice Han-seo walking back inside the room, confirming your flight.
No, you didn’t want to fly with him if he fucking lied to you and went behind your back. Hell no.
You remained quiet, not wanting to say a word. It seemed like everyone else was on edge as well. You weren’t afraid of them killing Vincenzo since it’s nearly impossible to make it happen. Your brother is the best of the best, and Korea is definitely not prepared for his twisted games.
And they’re most certainly not prepared for yours either. The next few minutes will determine if Han-seok lied to you or not, and that’s enough to make you worry, because if it turns out to be true, you don’t know what you’ll do.
The sound of Ms. Choi’s phone buzzing made you turn your head in her direction as she desperately fished out her phone from her pocket. The way her eyes widened from fear already told you enough and Han-seo stole the phone from her grip as he furrowed his eyes at the screen.
“They failed again,” he stated.
You didn’t miss the way Han-seok’s head snapped towards his direction. The younger brother brought the phone over to him, and he looked furious as he stared at the screen.
“He’s so hard to kill.”
You had enough of this bullshit. You angrily marched towards the two brothers, shoved Han-seo to the side, and snatched the phone from Han-seok’s hands. Your eyes focused on the picture and you felt your hand began to shake when you recognized the three men that laid dead on the floor. They’re Paolo’s hit men. They were able to get in contact with him — with your piece of shit brother. This was more than you expected. This was strategically planned out. They kept this from you? Even though you’re the one who’s supposed to be in charge of this?
“Why wasn’t I made aware of this?”
You didn’t even recognize your own voice.
Han-seok raised an eyebrow at you. “Hm?”
“Why. Wasn’t. I. Made. Aware. Of. This.”
“Because me and Ms. Choi had it under control.”
You didn’t even think twice when you angrily threw the phone into the wall, causing it to smash into a million pieces. All three of them flinched at your sudden outburst but Ms. Choi quickly regained her composure as she pointed at you.
“You! What the hell is wrong with you?!”
“You shut up you stupid fucking bitch! I’ll kill you!” You pointed back at her. “As for you,” you returned your attention to Han-seok. “Why the fuck am I here for huh!? Didn’t you hire me to do this shit?!
“You were obviously failing too much so we had to take matters into our own hands,” Ms. Choi barked back.
“Oh wow and look at where that got you,” you sarcastically laughed in return. “You wanna know what you are? A stupid fucking rookie. All of your moves against Vincenzo are laughable. You go for the obvious blow. You always leave fingerprints behind. You’re sloppy. You have no fucking clue how the Italian Mafia works, but I do.”
You began to walk towards her. “I’ve worked so close to these mafia bastards. I’ve been on countless missions for and against them. I know their weaknesses. I know how they think and how they work. Why do you think I haven’t killed Vincenzo yet, huh? Because he’s the best of the best. I’ve heard stories about him back when I was in Italy, and he was one of the top consigliere’s in the country. This isn’t some guy you can simply waltz with. Oh no. If you want to dance with him without having him step on your feet, then you need to learn how to move with him. You need to learn his moves. When he’s going to twirl you around, when he’s going to dip you down, and when he plans to finish his dance. That’s why I haven’t killed that bastard yet, because I’m slowly learning his moves. So when the right time comes, I can trip him in our little dance, causing him to fall completely.”
“Well it’s a little hard trusting a mercenary who turned herself into a prostitute–”
You didn’t even give her time to blink. Your hands wrapped around her neck as you pushed her down onto the floor, the sound of screaming going off in the background. Her eyes widened in fear as she frantically began to swing her arms to hit you in he face, but you quickly pinned her arms down above her head as your right hand began to squeeze hard against her skin. Her face was turning purple, and the feel of her body trashing underneath you in an attempt to escape sent a wild wave of exhilaration through you.
You felt a pairs of hands grab you from behind and you quickly turned around and punched them, not even caring to see who it was. Ms. Choi’s eyes were rolling at the back of her head and you nearly smiled until you felt two different pairs of hands pull you off of her.
“Stop,” Han-seok breathed into your ear. You broke free from his and Han-seo’s grasp, not even caring to check on the poor younger brother who was the victim of your right hook.
You were breathing heavily, from both adrenaline and anger. “Don’t fucking call me for anything anymore. I’m fucking done,” you snapped. “You want to hire shitty people and piss Vincenzo off more? Fine by me. Go ahead and sign your own death wish for all I care. I’m leaving back to Italy tonight.”
You saw him tense up at your words, and you didn’t give him a chance to speak since you continued to ramble on.
“You fucking lied to me. You told me you were laying off Vincenzo for a while and would let me know when you were ready to deal with him. Instead, you went behind my fucking back and planned this all out with Ms. Choi. The least you could’ve done was include me in your little meetings.”
You didn’t have a right to be mad, especially since you’ve been lying to him for the start. You’re crying to him about betrayal yet you’re the biggest snake in this room. Maybe it’s because you felt hurt and betrayed by both Vincenzo and Han-seok, since they equally went behind your back to plan something out. On top of that, they almost killed Vincenzo. You don’t know how exactly your brother survived their attack but one thing you did know was that they were close in taking him away from you. They almost got what they wished for.
“Good luck with your bullshit.”
You left it at that as you began to march out the door, but a firm hand gripped your own. You didn’t even have to turn around to know who it was.
“Stay, please. I’ll explain everything on the flight.”
“I’m not flying with you,” you shook him off. “And I’m not staying. Leave me alone.”
You didn’t want to look at him, because deep down, you knew his pleading eyes will make you stay. Even though you almost killed Ms. Choi, you were thankful in hearing her very hoarse voice speak, letting Han-seok know that they must head to the airport immediately.
You took that as your sign and left, feeling both relieved and upset that Han-seok didn’t try to stop you that time. Your eyes were starting to cloud with tears and you quickly wiped them away as you hailed a cab and began to make your way to Geumga Plaza. It was late at night so everyone must be in their rooms by now, and because of that you rushed up the stairs towards Vincenzo’s. You angrily pounded at the door and he was quick to open it, giving you the chance to storm inside.
“You know, I could’ve easily fooled you as someone else and killed you.”
“I’m not in the mood for your jokes,” you pointed at him. “What the fuck happened today?”
“What happened to you?” He raised an eyebrow. “You haven’t stopped by to say hello anymore. Is everything okay?”
“Fine. Han-seok won’t let me out of his sight. Now, tell me about this plan of yours you had about sneaking into the art gallery and taking a file!”
“Ah, well, Cha-young and I found some information regarding to Babel’s paper company. We needed a team in order to break in.”
“And why wasn’t I told about this?”
He hummed. “You’ve been acting suspicious lately.”
You swallowed at his words. “Suspicious how?”
Vincenzo walked towards one of the cabinets as he poured himself a drink. “Drink?” He asked, which made you shake your head in return. “Well, you haven’t been honest with me. You’ve been keeping information from us.”
“Says who?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know, you tell me.”
So he doesn’t know. He’s probably suspicious of you, but he doesn’t have concrete proof that you are in fact dating Han-seok out of your own free will. You looked down towards the floor, taking in a deep breath before exhaling.
“I just don’t understand why you planned this all out with people you barely even know. I’m your sister. We’re family. You always tell me things, but you kept this from me. You kept something this huge from me. On top of that, you almost died,” the image of Paolo’s three hit men flashed in your head, “I felt like you didn’t need me.”
His silence towards your last remark made you want to die, since it felt like he wasn’t acknowledging how you felt. Why can’t he just fucking talk to you? What’s so hard about that? You sucked up your pain and clenched your teeth together as you slightly switched the topic.
“I almost blew my cover when I found out that out.”
“What’d you do?”
So he responds to that? Cue your heart breaking.
“I almost killed Ms. Choi.”
He choked on his drink at your words, his eyes slightly widening. “What did you do to her?”
You slightly smiled at the satisfying memory. “I choked her and almost succeeded until the two Jang brothers pulled me off. If anything she’ll be left with a very bruised neck, possibly some soreness in her vocal chords.”
He chuckled at your response and shook his head in disapproval. “You really do have the worst temper.”
“Well I grew up with you, how can I not?”
Even though you were still upset and feeling betrayed by him, you couldn’t stay mad forever. You did almost lose him tonight, and spending time with him was something you certainly did not want to bypass — even if he’s somewhat disregarding your feelings. You drank a couple of drinks with Vincenzo before crashing out at his place, forgetting about the fact that you told Han-seok you were going to spend the night at your apartment.
It’s not like it mattered anyways, he was most likely already flying to New York by now, and that’s something you debated on telling Vincenzo or not.
By the next morning, everyone oddly seemed to be in a good mood. When Mr. Nam informed you that Prosecutor Jung arrested Han-seok last night with the information they stole, you almost lost it. Another thing Vincenzo forgot to mention when you two were drinking.
But why should you care? You’re the one who walked out on him and told him to never contact you again. He’s on his own now, and his precious Ms. Choi can bail him out if needed. He preferred having her do his dirty work anyways, since the only thing he needed you for was to let out his sexual frustration.
You were feeling betrayed both by Vincenzo and Han-seok, and you genuinely did not know how to feel.
After watching Prosecutor Jung’s speech on how he was wrong for his speculation against Babel and witnessing Cha-young lose it, you felt like you needed to leave. To everyone else, Vincenzo seemed pretty collected, but deep down you knew he was at the brink of losing it too. Their reactions towards his betrayal made you question yourself, and the whole atmosphere was suffocating. There’s no doubt in mind that you’re going to hurt them when they find out about you and Han-seok. How it wasn’t just a front anymore and how you cared about him. How you’re morally fucking this up for everyone — including yourself.
But seeing Cha-young and Vincenzo’s interaction made your heart clench. Only an idiot would not know that there’s blatantly something going on between them. The way he chased after her and was holding onto her arm while attempting to calm her down…you knew. You knew that your brother somehow managed to find love while he stowed away in Korea. It wasn’t planned, you knew he didn’t expect this. You were happy he found someone.
But do you have a right to feel that same happiness? You wouldn’t go as far and say you love Han-seok, but your feelings for him are pretty serious. Your love life is complicated — your fault though — and your boyfriend slash ex-boyfriend wants to kill your brother, and your brother wants to kill him. It’s not the most ideal situation you want to be in.
Maybe you can steer Han-seok away from his corrupted ways? Get him to just leave Babel to Han-seo and move away with you as far away from Korea as possible. You two could possibly move to the States. Maybe you could convince him, and if not, then you can just leave him be and help Vincenzo how you originally planned.
You didn’t even bother to say goodbye to anyone as you left the plaza and went back to your place. Walking in, the place felt a bit eerie since you haven’t necessarily been staying here for the past few weeks. Some of your stuff is still at Han-seok’s place so you were thankful to have left a few items behind. You quickly changed into a pair of black leggings and a white sports bra, adding a thin athletic jacket over you just in case.
Most of your day was spent working out and getting your mind off of things. Your body was mentally exhausted and you needed a breather from the world around you. For the first time in a while, you felt refreshed. You were heading back inside to your place with your headphones playing ‘No Hands’ at full blast.
“Girl drop it to the floor! I love the way your booty go – HOLY FUCK!”
You had a near damn heart attack when you walked inside your apartment and noticed Han-seok standing in the living room. His hair was disheveled and he had a crazed look on his face, but the moment his eyes landed on you, they widened.
“What are you doing here? I thought–”
You didn’t even get to finish talking before you felt him slam his lips against yours. He pulled you close and held your body tightly, and you almost caved in to the kiss but then remembered the whole altercation in the art gallery.
You shoved Han-seok away and shot him a glare. “I thought I told you I was done.”
“I thought you left,” he completely ignored your words as he began to talk. “I came by your apartment last night and you weren’t here. I searched for you and didn’t get any sleep. Then I had to return to Babel to discuss some matters before making my way back here, only to find your apartment empty once again. I thought you were gone, that you managed to leave the country without a trace. I was about to hire some of my best men to track you down…but now that I know you never left, where were you last night?”
“That’s none of your concern,” you turned around to grab a water bottle from the fridge but he rushed to your side and slammed the fridge door shut.
“Wrong answer,” he hummed before cupping your cheeks with his free hand. “Now, where were you?”
“Take your hand off me before I drop kick you,” you threatened.
He whistled and did as you asked. “You were out with some guy weren’t you?”
“No I wasn’t,” you dryly laughed. “All of the men here in Korea are a bunch of liars and not worth the effort, including you.”
“Are you going to continue to whine or will you let me explain why I had Ms. Choi do my dirty work for me?”
“Oh yeah, I would love to hear your excuse,” you responded with sarcasm.
Suddenly, you felt him grab your hand and twirl you around to face him. His eyes were full of emotion as they gazed down on you, and his features were soft, something that slightly shocked you. Ever since you met Han-seok, he’s been a mixture of serious, psychotic, and a dork. There was no in between since he would change his attitude in just a quick snap of his fingers. He was unpredictable — never letting you know what was going on in his head.
But this moment, right now, he was an open book. He looked vulnerable and weak, and that was enough to make you listen.
“Ididntwanthimtohurtyou,” he rapidly spoke, making you squint at him.
“What?”
He took in a deep breath and closed his eyes, giving himself a second before he could respond. “I didn’t want him to hurt you,” he begun, “he’s not someone you can test the waters with and expect to come out fine. He’s dangerous. You’ve seen what he’s capable of and you’ve run into him several times before. I still remember that one time you showed up bleeding almost everywhere. I…I don’t want him to go after you, and having Ms. Choi do my dirty work instead wont put you in harms way.”
Does…does he actually care for you? The Jang Han-seok, the CEO who’s made it clear he does not care about anyone else but himself. The same CEO who never shows any form of emotions — only anger. The same CEO who threatens his subordinates, including his brother, because they fail to do something right or just pester him.
“I need you, okay?”
His words left you stunned. Your brain was trying to process everything that was going on.
“You…need me?” You audibly whispered.
“Yes baby.”
“But do you mean you need my skills?”
He shook his head and tilted your chin up, his eyes meeting yours. “No. Even though you’re a fucking badass, I need you. You have weaved your way into my heart and I don’t plan on losing you.”
You’re literally about to melt right there.
You grabbed his face with your hands and pulled him down to you, pressing your lips against his in a desperate kiss. Han-seok responded almost immediately, and he hoisted you up, making you to wrap your legs around his waist as he began to walk you towards your bedroom.
His lips knew every sensitive spot in your body, and he took his time savoring you, exploring you, and making you feel special like the fucking goddess you are. He wanted to show you how much you meant to him, so he was at your complete mercy tonight. You were currently riding his face while his hands gripped your thighs, his tongue flicking and playing with your sensitive areas.
You writhed above him as you began to reach your high. “H-Han-seok I’m gonna…”
He quickly flipped you over so you were on your back and wasted no time sliding back inside you. “That’s it baby. I got you.”
He began to thrust as he held himself up on his elbows. Your moans echoed throughout your room and all you could do was gaze into his brown orbs. He cupped your cheek and snaked an arm underneath your back, pressing you closer to him.
“You’re so beautiful. My fucking baby.”
He connected your lips together in a passionate kiss as he began to pick up the pace. You wrapped your arms around his neck, kissing him back with so much passion while the two of you moved together in sync, slowly picking up the pace in a feverish way. You felt yourself cum first before Han-seok followed suit, spilling his seed inside you without a care.
The two of you continued to kiss and hold each other close, not wanting to let the other go. You both come from two different worlds, but at the same time, they’re similar in a sense. Unlike everyone you’ve known so far in your life, Han-seok needs you. Your father didn’t want you. The Cassano family accepted you then tossed you aside the moment they found something better. Vincenzo left Italy without thinking about how you would feel and only contacted you when he needed help, because he needed your skills.
You’ve never been put first your whole life, you were always just the person who filled the void in peoples lives, and when you weren’t needed anymore, you were tossed away. Forgotten. But Han-seok? He wants you. He needs you. He’s the first person to make you feel wanted in such a long time.
And honestly, you were not going to let that go.
-
Time has passed and matters were getting much more heated between Babel and Jipuragi Law Firm. Just like Han-seok promised, he has not bothered to send you on a mission to go after Vincenzo, instead, you’ve been doing some of his dirty work for him.
You’ve slowly been losing contact with Vincenzo again. It hurt knowing you two were growing distant, but he seemed to prefer confiding in his new family at Geumga Plaza than you. You might’ve been slow in delivering information but he still could’ve gone to you if he needed anything. Sure, you weren’t being fully honest with him, but you weren’t going to sabotage him in any shape, way, or form.
You also have been trying to grow close with Han-seo, especially since you felt bad after punching him in the face. The younger Jang brother laughed it off and reassured you it wasn’t a big deal, but he seemed terrified talking to you. It was definitely Han-seok’s doing and you know it.
But with everything that’s going on, you should expect the worse to happen.
You were staying at Han-seok’s place, cooking up a quick meal for you since he was out discussing matters with Ms. Choi. You despise that bitch, and you hate how close her and Han-seok are. You don’t care how old she fucking is, but a deep part of you always grew jealous when he had important matters to attend with her.
He can talk it with me too.
You were too busy angrily mumbling to yourself to even hear the front door close. A familiar pair of arms wrapped themselves around you as Han-seok hugged you from behind and began to kiss your neck.
“How was your date with Ms. Choi? You two have fun?”
“Hm, are you jealous baby?”
“Are you drunk?”
The smell of alcohol burned your nose when he spoke. You set the pan aside so the food wouldn’t burn as you quickly turned around to look at him. He didn’t hesitate in slipping his hands underneath your shirt — well, his shirt to be exact — and grazing the bottom skin of your breasts.
“Baby…you’re not wearing a bra?”
“Don’t change the subject,” you cupped his face to look at him. “Why were you drinking?”
“Because I can’t kill that bastard, and he’s been taking everything away from me,” he slurred before resting his forehead on your shoulder. “I need to find his family.”
Your breathing hitched. “Why?”
“Because then I can make him suffer. He must have a mother out there. Someone that’s family to him that he cares about.”
You’re looking at her. You thought to yourself. Even if you weren’t on big speaking terms with him, he still cares.
“I doubt he has family,” you wanted to steer him away from his assumption. “Mafia members usually don’t have any family left, and seeing how he’s Korean-Italian, I doubt his parents are alive. It’ll just be a dead end.”
He hummed at your response. “You can never be too sure.”
“Baby, I have no one left. Anyone I worked with back in Italy is the same.” He began to kiss your neck again, almost distracting you but you couldn’t have any of that. “I know him and Cha-young have something going on.”
He stilled at your words but kept his lips on your skin. “Really?”
“Mhm,” you nodded. “I think you should start with her.”
Even though you feel bad about suggesting Cha-young as a target, you didn’t want them going after Vincenzo’s mom. You met her once and she seems like a sweet lady. She’s been through a lot as well, and you still remember the rage you felt when you found out about what her previous employer did to her. Scummy men who prey on innocent women for their own sexual desires deserve the worst, and you had a mental celebration when you were made aware that he passed away.
He should’ve been tortured by Vincenzo, if anything.
Han-seok pulled away as he looked down at you, seeming to be in deep thought. “Maybe, we’ll see. But for now,” he tore his shirt off of you — like actually ripped apart — and his eyes trailed your body with hunger as you stood there exposed, wearing just your lace underwear.
“Han-seok!” You gasped. “I was making food!”
“Well baby I’m hungry too,” he smirked before ripping away your underwear and setting you down on the cold counter.
Then he proceeded to eat you out and it felt fucking amazing.
-
Life has not been easy ever since.
After articles about Han-seok’s past surfaced, he sent you to kill Oh Jeong-bae, the CEO of Daechang Daily. You finished it without a problem and left as the clean up crew that Ms. Choi sent arrived to pick up his body. What you didn’t know was that they planned to frame Vincenzo, but did it unsuccessfully since he’s always one step ahead of them.
You’ve been going on more secret dates with Han-seok and have practically moved in with him at this point. You were out running some errands when your phone began to ring, Han-seok’s name popping up on the car’s screen.
“Yes, sir?” You have to keep it professional at first, just in case anyone is in ear shot view.
“Baby! Come celebrate with us!”
He seemed to be in a very cheerful mood. “Oh yeah? What are we celebrating?”
“The death of Vincenzo’s mother.”
You slammed on the brakes, not even caring that you stopped in the middle of the road. “What?”
“Ms. Choi did some digging and found his mother. She was admitted to a hospital, and we sent someone to finish the job.”
This is not good. Killing his mom is just asking for a death wish, and knowing Vincenzo, he’s smart enough to figure out who sent the hitman. He’ll go after Han-seok in a heartbeat.
He’s actually probably on his way to kill him now.
“Baby, where are you?” Your voice was filled with panic as you stepped on the gas.
“At the estate. I don’t see why you’re worried.”
Your knuckles gripped the steering wheel. “Jang Han-seok, you just killed the woman Vincenzo loves the most. His own blood. His only family. His mother. I know you don’t care about family, but majority of the world population will go ballistic if someone killed their mother. He’s going to fucking kill you, all because you wanted to get even with him.”
“Either I’m going stupid or you’re actually defending him.”
“Because he’s going to kill you!” You kept swerving past cars. “Why do you have to get even with him! Fucking hell!”
You were not that far from the estate now, but he suddenly went quiet on his end which made you worry.
“What’s happening Han-seok?”
Then a shot rang out, and you felt the blood in your body run cold.
“Han-seok!” You frantically screamed as you tried not to have a full blown panic attack while driving. You heard him breathe on the other line before he spoke two words and hung up.
“He’s here.”
No, no, no, no, no, no.
He can’t fucking kill him, he can’t.
It was as if everything around you was a blur, your hands felt numb even though you were gripping the steering wheel. You could crash into someone right now but you wouldn’t care, you’d find a way to get to Han-seok. At this moment, he’s the only thing that mattered.
The moment you arrived to the estate, your heart dropped at the sight of all the bodies writhing on the floor. It was like something straight out of a horror movie. The ramp leading to the house was caked with a trail of blood, letting you know that Vincenzo is showing no mercy. You cocked your gun and ran out of the car, ignoring the pleas of the injured bodyguards as you made your way past them.
You never felt such adrenaline before, and the moment you saw Vincenzo pointing his gun at Han-seok’s face, you knew right then and now, that this will leave a dent in your relationship with your brother. Vincenzo didn’t seem to know about your presence because the moment he heard the click of your gun behind him, he grew rigid.
“Drop the gun.”
Your voice was low and dangerous.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m not going to repeat myself,” you pressed your gun towards his head. “Drop the gun. Now.”
He stayed silent for a while, contemplating your order. Your eyes briefly connected with Han-seok’s and he looked both relieved to see you but also terrified. He wasn’t scared for his life — not even the slightest — but he was for yours.
“Stay out of this.” It almost sounded like he was pleading you to walk away, to not dig yourself further into this mess that can cost you your life.
“Not until he drops the gun,” you tilted your head. “So, what’s it gonna be, Vincenzo?”
His chuckle caught you off guard. “You really want to do this right now, sister?”
“You know better than to not call me that right now.”
“Why? You’re scared your boyfriend will find out the truth about your identity?”
Your breathing increased. “You wouldn’t.”
“Try me,” he pressed. “I’m sending you back to Italy tonight. You’re done.”
No you’re not fucking done, and he will not fucking ruin whatever happiness you found here. He didn’t expect you to kick his legs and force him to the ground, your body moving swiftly to take his gun from his hand. He looked shocked as he looked up at you, a look of betrayal flashing through his features.
“Yes! That’s my girl,” Han-seok clapped as he stood up, walking towards you to plant a kiss on your cheek. “Kill him.”
“She won’t,” Vincenzo answered with a smug look on his face.
Your hands began to shake and your eyes brimmed with tears while your lip quivered, the intense emotion of betrayal sitting with you as you stared into the eyes of your brother. Your family. The only other person who genuinely cared about you. Han-seok called out for you, but it’s like your mind tuned him out, and Vincenzo was the only other person in the room.
You’re not going to kill him, you can’t and won’t.
“I’m disappointed in you, sister. You really fell for the enemy.”
He actually fucking blew your cover. Your eyes widened in fear at his words, the dread settling in as the room grew quiet.
“S-Sister?” Mr. Han spoke from behind you. “Did I hear that right?”
“It seems we’ve had a traitor all this time, sir.”
“If you want to keep breathing for the next five seconds, I suggest you shut your fucking mouth, Ms. Choi. I will blow your brains out without a second thought,” you threatened which made her shut up real quick.
“You’re a fucking bitch.”
Han-seok’s voice cut you like a knife, and you refused to turn around and look into his eyes. You didn’t want to face him. You didn’t feel worthy of facing him right now.
Instead, you put the safety on Vincenzo’s gun and tossed it to him. “You know, I came here to help my brother out but lately, it’s been feeling like he doesn’t need me anymore. But you want to know who does? The man behind me. He’s made me feel so fucking special Vincenzo and I honestly could care less about what he fucking does and how he does shit to stay on top. You think the Cassano family has their hands clean? You ever sit back and wonder all the people we’ve killed for them, and how many of those people are possibly innocent with families out there? We’re fucking monsters. Every single person in this room is a monster. I’m tired of trying to play the good guy, because I’m not, and you –”
You didn’t even have time to react or simply do anything as Vincenzo interrupted your speech by aiming his gun at Han-seok and pressing the trigger. A silent shot rang out and Han-seok collapsed to the floor, holding his right ear while he groaned out in pain.
“That’s just a preview of what I’m going to do.”
“Han-seok!” You cried out as you dropped down to his side and tore a bottom piece of your shirt off to press it against his ear. He tried to push you away but you resisted as you held him close while everyone else scurried towards the two of you. “Call 911!”
His bloodshot eyes looked at you with disgust and hate, but you didn’t care right now. You needed him to get seen immediately. The ambulance was quick in getting there and took him straight away with Han-seo riding on the back. You wanted to leave with them so bad but you held back, not wanting to stress him out more especially with his wound. Ms. Choi and Mr. Han were not making it easer as they stared at you with intensity.
“My loyalty still lies with Han-seok,” you began, not bothering to face them. “Only cowards run and hide, and I’m not a coward.”
You avoided seeing Han-seok at the hospital, knowing that he will go crazy the moment he sees you walk in. Your betrayal was of course made known to everyone in Geumga Plaza, and you didn’t miss the looks of disgust when you walked inside and made your way to the office. You were currently sitting down at the table with both Vincenzo and Cha-young, your fingers drumming against the hard wood as you avoided eye contact with them.
“Give me my cut of the gold and I’ll be on my way.”
“You deserve nothing,” Cha-young snapped. “You betray us and side with Han-seok? You deserve not even a tiny ounce of gold!”
“Do not yell at me, stupid bitch,” you hissed out but noticed the glare Vincenzo shot at you. “Aw, I’m sorry. Did I insult your girlfriend?”
“He really did get in your head. What a tragedy,” he sighed.
“He didn’t do anything. Whatever I’m feeling? Whatever I did? I did it out of my own free will. Now pay up, brother.”
Cha-young loudly slammed her palms against the table, making you and Vincenzo look at her. “My father was murdered by that psychopath. How can you support that?”
“Save me the sob story, your father knew what he was getting himself into. Vincenzo warned him but he didn’t listen. He stuck his nose where he shouldn’t and paid the ultimate price.”
She shot out of her chair and went after you, and just when you were about to attack back, you felt Vincenzo grab your arm and twist it behind your back. He pinned you down against the table, leaving you immobile as you screamed and struggled against his hold.
“Let me go!”
“You have no shame,” he calmly spoke. “He killed my mother, and you still defend him. I call you to help me, and you betray me. What kind of sister are you?”
“I don’t care.”
That was a bit of a lie but you had to act heartless now. There’s no room for sappy stories or feelings in this field. You either fight to stay on top or roll over on your back and surrender. You were done with everything, and from this point on, you were your own independent contractor. No more Cassano family. No more Italy. No more Vincenzo. As much as it pains you, you brought this upon yourself.
“Just…let me go.”
He did as you asked, avoiding any form of eye contact with you as you rubbed your wrist. “I’m sorry I failed you. I got caught up in my own feelings. I’ve reached my breaking point Vincenzo, and while you found love here, so did I. What I feel for Han-seok feels so wrong but so right at the same time. Give me my cut of the gold and I will try to convince him to flee Korea with me, just don’t kill him, please. Do whatever you want with Babel, but don’t fucking hurt him, or else.”
Then, you proceeded to walk away, not even bothering to look back.
The drive back to your place was quiet and unusually eerie. Your whole mind felt numb at the thought of losing both Vincenzo and Han-seok, but there’s a slight possibility of regaining the trust of one of them. You could either go back now, drop down to your knees, and apologize profusely to your brother.
And also promising to delete that video of him singing to Rihanna.
Then there’s Han-seok, where you could prove your loyalty to him by continuing to betray your brother. You can continue to do his dirty work and help him bring Babel to the top.
So what will it be? Side with the man who grew up to be your brother — who fought by your side? Or with the man you love — who will burn the world for you? Most people will immediately choose family, but, you’re not like most people. Sad truth is you’re just as fucked up in the head as Han-seok. Maybe not on a psychotic level, but you’re still just as evil as him. Unlike Vincenzo, you have no sense for justice. The world will always be morally fucked up, that’s just how life is. Why bother wasting your time trying to fix its wrongs?
You were too caught up in your thoughts as you stepped inside your apartment that you had zero time to react when a hand shot out to pin you against the wall. It wrapped itself tightly around your throat, not enough to kill you but enough to daze you, and the culprit behind the hand was no other than Han-seok. His eyes burned with hatred, no longer showing any hint of affection towards you.
“Are you okay?” Was all you could croak out.
He darkly chuckled in response. “Am I okay? Is that all you have to say?”
“I’m just worried about–”
“Shut up!” He added more pressure to your neck. “I should just kill you right now.”
“Then do it.”
Half of you knew he wasn’t capable of doing it, but the other half believed he can and will. You’re at a point where death wasn’t a scary thought anymore, and if the man you grew to love was going to end it for you, then you’ll welcome death with open arms.
Han-seok seemed to hesitate at your request while his grip on your neck loosened, but he didn’t let go quite yet.
“Fuck you,” he sneered and practically threw you against the wall as he let go of you. “You’re such a clever bitch huh?”
He began to clap really loud, the speed of it increasing by every second.
“Bravo! Such an amazing job in fooling me!” Han-seok bent down to your level and gripped your chin tightly. “So, what’s your real name? I assume you’ve given me a fake one all this time.”
“It’s still the same,” you replied. “But my last name is Cassano, not Marino.”
He huffed out a breath and let you go, walking away as he began to run a hand through his hair.
“Vincenzo called me because he needed my help against you. It started off as a mission, but little by little I fell in lo–”
“Shut up,” he cut you off. “What are you? A mercenary for him?”
“I’m a spy for the Cassano family.”
“Cassano family,” he darkly chuckled and turned to face you again. “I hope you know I have to kill you now. I don’t take kindly to traitors.”
You smiled up at him. “You say that yet you’re the biggest traitor of all.” He stepped forward to say something but you quickly cut him off as you continued. “You’re a traitor to yourself. Your mind says one thing but your heart says another.”
You felt a bit wobbly when you stood up but used the wall as support. He remained quiet at your statement, not wanting to admit that you were right. Instead, he walked towards you and cupped your face with his right hand.
“You have such a big mouth for someone who’s supposed to stay quiet. You lied to me and I doubt any fucking thing you’ve told me was true. Stop with the act, you’ve been found out. If you think I’m going to crawl back to you, I won’t.”
“But I’m being se–”
He grabbed your shoulders and roughly slammed your body against the wall. You went ahead and grabbed his arm, moving your body so you’d be able to twist it behind his back. You kicked his feet underneath you and basically made him drop to the floor with a loud thud. He shot you a puzzled look while you flashed him a smile, but that was short lived when he grabbed your ankle and made you lose your balance. You fell down as well and Han-seok was quick to hover above you as his hands wrapped themselves around your throat. Just when he was about to squeeze, you wrapped your legs around his waist and flipped him over, causing him to lay flat on his back and loose his grip on your neck. You quickly grabbed one of your knives from a nearby coffee table and pressed it right against the skin of his neck, your other hand pinning his wrists above his head.
“Baby, if I wanted to kill you, I could’ve done that in a heartbeat. Especially after that fiasco with Vincenzo’s mother? You were lucky I was on your side instead of helping my brother out,” you noticed the way his jaw clenched out of both anger and fear. “I could easily kill you right here too, and I have sources that can help me flee the country within the next ten minutes. Don’t underestimate a spy from the mafia.”
You pressed the blade a little more against his neck, but made sure not to do it too much to draw blood.
“Why didn’t we try this position before? I kind of like being on top of you and having you at my mercy.”
You were teasing him and you loved it, but it was so hard deciphering what he felt since Han-seok cleared his face of any emotion. You were quick to stand up, keeping your eyes on his form. Han-seok dusted himself off and he looked more pissed than before — probably because he lost since he knew he let his guard down. All he did was shoot you a warning look before leaving your place, not bothering to utter out a single word about what just happened.
-
The next few weeks have been more hell. You lost your brother. You lost your lover. Now you were basically stranded in a random foreign city. You spent your nights at countless of bars, rejecting perverted men, and getting drunk off your ass without a care. It was hard watching the news since there was always something going on with Babel, and seeing Han-seok’s gorgeous face made you miss him even more.
You were currently out and about, a little tipsy since you had a couple of drinks at a bar, when you suddenly felt someone bump into you. The two of you fell to the ground — hard — and you felt your blood boiling at the incompetence of the guy who bumped into you.
“Listen you fucking jackass!” Even though you felt a bit tipsy, you were able to get a good grip on the guy. The alcohol was also definitely a factor as to why you were more pissed than usual. “You better fucking apolo–”
But you were shocked to see Han-seok staring back at you with surprise as well. The sound of several footsteps echoed above you and he gave you zero time to react as he grabbed your hands, pulled you up, and made you stand against a brick wall. You repeatedly blinked up at him, his face was covered in sweat and he seemed out of breath, like he was running away from something.
Or someone.
The sound of footsteps that echoed away indicated that he was in fact getting chased.
“Who were they?”
“I don’t know. They ambushed me back at my place.”
“Those assholes. I’ll kill them.”
You stumbled away from him, only to be stopped when his hand clasped around your wrist.
“Have you been drinking?”
“Mhm. I’ll probably be a raging alcoholic by the end of the month.”
His eyes fixated on you as he remained quiet for a second before speaking. “You’re really doing the most to make me drop my guard around you.”
You blinked. “Huh?”
“Going out to drink. Acting like you’re sad. Aren’t you a little genius?”
“Han-seok this isn’t–”
“I don’t want to hear it,” he began to limp away. “And don’t follow me.”
You ignored his request and stepped forward to provide as much of assistance as you could, but he was quick in shoving you away, a look of disgust resting on his features.
“Don’t fucking touch me and leave me alone.”
And so you did, but little did you know, he wanted you to follow him. He wanted you ignore his remarks, call him an idiot, and just simply take care of his wounds. He wanted you to prove to him that you did in fact care, but he ignored the aching of his heart when you simply let him go without putting up a fight.
-
You were at your wits end.
After drinking your sorrows away and sulking in your own pitiful heartbreak, you decided to take Vincenzo on his offer and leave Korea for good. Turns out him, Cha-young, and a couple of the tenants were hiding away the gold, and you did your best in hiding your anger through the phone when he refused to let you know where it was. Instead, he wired you the amount he promised and ordered you to leave the country. Made you swear on your mother’s grave and everything. You promised him to leave and never turn back.
You promised to leave Han-seok, for good.
Ever since your last encounter in the alley, you’ve tried to contact him multiple times, but he never returned your calls. You last spoke with Han-seo a few days ago, and he informed you that Han-seok and Ms. Choi planned out a fake arrest to protect him from Vincenzo. It was a pretty decent plan, and since his security measure is high, your brother won’t be able to touch him.
But even if he did, why does it matter? You two are end game. You shouldn’t care what happens to him. Whatever you two had was temporary, and you’re bound to meet someone ten times better in the States anyways.
You were at the airport waiting at the security line when your phone began to buzz. Confusion hit you when you noticed Ms. Choi’s name pop up on your screen, and if it wasn’t for your curiosity on Han-seok, you would’ve hung up on her.
“I assume you’re not calling because you want to meet up and get our nails done together,” you scoffed.
You could hear her sigh on the other end. “Desperate times call for desperate measures, I just have one question to ask you. Do you love Han-seok?”
Her sudden question caught you off guard. “Why are you asking me that?”
“Just answer the question.”
“It’s not like it matters if I do,” you snapped. “He wants nothing to do with me and I don’t blame him.”
“Agreed. I always knew you were a bitch.”
Your eye twitched. “Look, if you’re just going to call to insult me then I’m fucking hanging up–”
“Wait,” her tone reeked with desperation. “I hate to admit it but you’re our only hope against Vincenzo. He’s going to kill me and Mr. Jang.”
“I thought Han-seok was in prison to protect him from my brother?”
“Not anymore. He’s been released. We’re planning on fleeing the country but that’s if we’re able to sneak past Vincenzo. He has this whole plan in motion already and..” she paused for a second before speaking again, “he already called me and told me today is my last day. Once he kills me, he’s going after Mr. Jang.”
You have never ran out the airport so fast in your life. Ms. Choi isn’t the one to call you or beg for you help, but the tone in her voice and how urgent she sounds let’s you know that some shit is about to go down. Vincenzo doesn’t play and you know that.
“Do you have a location on Han-seok?”
“No, he wouldn’t disclose it. I’ll send you my address so we can meet up.”
The two of you hung up and you immediately hailed a cab towards her place. Your palms felt sweaty and your throat felt dry as you thought about Vincenzo winning and getting to Han-seok first. Knowing your brother, he will make sure to torture him and give Han-seok the most painful death he can imagine, and that was something that unnerved you.
You arrived to the address that Ms. Choi sent you but stopped on your tracks when you noticed the knocked out bodyguards that laid on the floor.
He was here. He got her.
“Fuck!” You punched the nearest wall, not caring about the excruciating pain that shot up your arm. She was your last resort at finding Han-seok since he could be anywhere in Seoul.
You need to think. Knowing Vincenzo, he must have some form of tracker on Han-seok because how else will he be able to locate him? If he’s out hunting for your ex-boyfriend, then he shouldn’t be anywhere near Geumga Plaza. You had to be fast on this so you wasted no time. You snatched one of the guns off of the bodyguard’s body and hailed a cab towards the plaza.
You charged up the stairs until you made it into the office, where you found Mr. Ahn sitting in front of a laptop. You raised the gun and aimed for his head, making him lift his hands up in the air.
“Where is he?”
“I don’t know what you’re–”
You shot the flower pot next to him and he dropped to the floor in fear.
“Where is he?!”
He was quick in turning the laptop off and picking it up. “I’m not telling you anything.”
“Is that so?”
You weren’t sure if these tenants were just plain stupid or had a death wish, because Mrs. Jang attempted to sneak up behind you, only for her to be placed in a chokehold with your gun pressing against her temple. Mr. Ahn’s face contorted into concern as he hesitated in taking a step forward.
“Now let’s try again shall we?” Your eyes were burning with hatred. “Where’s Vincenzo?”
“H-How could you do this to him?”
Mrs. Jang screamed when you shot her foot, causing Mr. Ahn to yell before running towards you.
“Nah-ah,” you hummed and pressed the gun to her chin, causing Mr. Ahn to stop. “One more step and she’s dead.”
“She’s pregnant,” he pleaded. “Please don’t.”
“Aww, then she should’ve thought twice before sneaking up on me,” you moved the gun down to her stomach, “now give me the laptop.”
“How do I know you won’t kill her?”
“Because I don’t get messy unless I have to. You give me what I want, and she’s free. So will it ping me to Han-seok’s live location?”
“Yes,” he hesitantly answered.
“Then give it to me. Along with your phone as well and some car keys.”
Mr. Ahn was quick to comply and didn’t hesitate in doing the exchange. As promised, you let go of Mrs. Jang and examined Mr. Ahn’s phone before crushing it, in case he decides to warn Vincenzo about you. You did the same to Mrs. Jang’s phone before running out the building and finding Mr. Ahn’s car. You turned the latop on and saw his live signal coming to a stop, and you prayed that he was on his own and was safe from Vincenzo.
But that hope washed away when the signal lead you to a warehouse.
“Please don’t be dead,” you whispered to yourself as you blinked back tears. “Hang on baby.”
You quietly made your way inside the building, having your arms stretched out downwards in front of you while your gun faced the ground. You could heard the sound of distant voices, immediately pinning the two male voices as Vincenzo and Han-seok. Knowing he was still alive made you feel more at ease but the adrenaline was still kicking in as you neared closer, the sounds of Han-seok screaming made you see red.
“…okay? Just shoot me! Shoot!” Han-seok begged but quickly stopped when his eyes landed on you.
The sound of your gun clicking made Vincenzo stop what he was doing, but your brother refused to face you.
“Turn it off and untie him.”
“I see that you decided to stay,” he spoke. “I shouldn’t be surprised. It’s not the first time you broke a promise.”
You were impatient and pissed off. You shot the timer that rested on the left side of the chair, making Vincenzo flinch away and take a couple of steps away from Han-seok as the timer broke into pieces.
“I’m not here to play games or fucking talk! You better disarm that whole contraption and let him go.”
“Or what? You’re going to kill me?”
“If I have to.”
He dryly laughed and shook his head. “I guess karma did get me in the end.” You furrowed your brows in confusion, not understanding what he meant. “The first time Han-seo came to me to help him overthrow Han-seok, I refused.”
Wait, Han-seo betrayed Han-seok?
“I told him I don’t like to involve myself in family matters, because if I help exploit a betrayal within a family, my own family might betray me in the end.”
The look he gave you made your heart break, and you felt yourself almost giving in, but the sound of Han-seok coughing out a bit of blood brought you back to your senses.
“You don’t have to do this,” Vincenzo begged you. “Sister, please.”
You gritted your teeth while remaining silent for a second, but slowly moved your gun towards his direction.
“Let him go.”
He sighed in defeat and tilted his head down. Vincenzo was incredibly fast and unpredictable, because he suddenly pulled out a gun from his waist and aimed it in your direction. A shot rang out and you felt a burning sensation on your right arm, and it took a second to register that he shot you.
He fucking shot you.
You screamed out in pain as you dropped your weapon, and you heard Han-seok call for you before hearing footsteps running towards you. You were quick to move your legs and swipe them underneath Vincenzo, making him fall as well. Your adrenaline started to kick in causing the pain on your right upper arm to diminish. You quickly stood up and ran towards your gun but Vincenzo was quick as he wrapped his left arm around your neck, holding you in a chokehold. He was applying pressure, enough to knock you out, but you used all your strength to move your head back, head butting him right on the nose.
He staggered back and you went in for a left hook but he was quick in blocking it. You were able to move your body away from him as he tried to land a blow on your stomach. Hit after hit, you both were a bloody mess at this point. The two of you were evenly matched; he had the strength but you had the agility. You two have sparred with each other so much that you basically have learned each other’s moves, and it’s only a matter of time until one of you gets tired first or one of you outsmarts the other. You couldn’t use any of your usual moves on him but you just remembered there was one move you never showed him.
Vincenzo managed to make you fall on your back, but you quickly blinked back tears and bent your legs before swinging them forward, causing you to shoot up and stand. You didn’t even give him time to react as you swung your leg up and kicked him right on the jaw. He immediately fell to the floor and you kicked him one last time on the face, almost knocking him out.
“You talk about betrayal but you chose your new family over me!”
You straddled him while pinning his arms against him.
“You fucking left Italy without telling me! No message, no call, nothing!”
Another punch to his face.
“You don’t even call me to let me know you landed in fucking Korea! I had to find out from Paolo that you fled!”
You punched his chest.
“I tried calling you because I was worried and couldn’t reach you. But then you call me when you need my help? Are you fucking serious?!”
You slapped him.
“I didn’t think much of it cause I saw it as my brother needing my help. I missed you and wanted to make you happy so I agreed, but then I started to miss our life back in Italy. I asked, no begged you to move back with me, and what did you do!?”
You slapped him again.
“You chose your new fucking family that you made here! You wanted to help your little girlfriend avenge her dead father!”
You were a bawling mess at this point, but you couldn’t stop.
“I felt so alone,” you choked out. “And guess who was there for me? Guess who made me feel fucking special? Jang fucking Han-seok.”
You punched him one last time, leaving his face badly bruised and bloodied. He choked out some blood and tried to move but you held him down with your legs and body.
“You never bothered to ask me if I was okay. You never bothered to care, but he fucking did. He could tell when something was bothering me, when something was wrong. While I stayed here to make my brother happy, he never once batted an eye in my direction when I felt alone. All my life, everyone expected the most of me. They wanted to use me. My father, the Cassano family, and now you. You never fucking bothered to know how I felt, and only saw me as convenient when it benefited you and your precious gold.”
You couldn’t even wipe away your tears since your hands were caked with blood.
“He makes me happy and I could care fucking less what he’s done. I’ve told you already, we’re all monsters, so stop acting like you’re some sort of saint. You’re just as evil as him.”
The pain on your upper arm was returning, and you felt a bit woozy from the blood loss so that was an indicator that it was time to go. You stood up and staggered a bit, but you quickly caught yourself before walking towards Han-seok.
His eyes somehow softened when they saw you, and you shot him a weak smile while you began to untie him from the chair. It took all of your strength to pull the drill that was beginning to pierce his skin away. You felt yourself almost collapse but Han-seok quickly caught you with his free hand.
“Are you oka–”
He shut you up as he connected his lips with yours, not caring about the taste of blood. A splurge of emotions hit you all at once, and all you could do was cup his face and kiss him back.
He pulled away and tilted his head. “You got shot yet you’re asking me if I’m okay? You’re crazy.”
“Crazy for you,” you giggled before coughing out. “Sorry, that was cringey.”
“No, it was cute.”
You both helped each other out. He kept you grounded and made sure you didn’t collapse while you continued to untie him. He wasn’t too injured, just had some bruised areas and soreness, on top of the small hole that began to drill itself on its chest — he’s perfectly okay. But you? You don’t even know how much blood you lost. You were too busy fighting Vincenzo to even pay attention to your wounded arm.
“C-Can we start over?” You blinked up at Han-seok who watched you with an intense look. “If we’re talking US dollars… I have about 980 million dollars right now. Let’s just… let’s just move to the… States and start over? Please?”
He looked you over and seemed to be in deep thought. He was aware Babel was screwed over and not much can be recovered after everything that happened. He doesn’t have any family, or friends. All he has is you. The United States wasn’t too bad of a place to relocate at, and as long as he’s spending it with you, he can fucking live with that.
“Can we do some side jobs while we’re there? If you know what I mean?” He smirked down at you while tapping your nose.
You grinned. “Of course.”
The two of you began to walk away but the sound of Vincenzo groaning made you stop.
“I hope… you… know… that you’re… not a sister… of mine,” he coughed out with a croak, his eyes meeting yours for one last time. “You’re… no family… to me.”
Your vision fogged up with tears and you turned away while taking a deep breath in. “Goodbye Vincenzo. Take care.”
It was rough, and really fucking hard for you to walk away from your brother. You might be crazy choosing Han-seok over him but you don’t care anymore. Being with him feels right.
But your time with him might just be short lived after all.
You collapsed to the ground as you felt light headed, and Han-seok was quick in catching you, his frantic eyes looking down at you.
“Hey hey, look at me.”
“Oh fuck,” you coughed out. “Am I going… to die?”
“No you fucking won’t,” he immediately took of his jacket and tore it up; wasting no time in bandaging your arm. “Stay with me.”
“I do… care,” you slurred out. “Please understand t-that… I do care about… you.”
“Shh, stop talking baby,” he cooed. “I know, and I’m right here.”
You really lost a lot of blood, and if Han-seok cannot find you treatment within the next half hour, you’re for sure going to be a goner. His voice seemed distant as he called for you, but you couldn’t even respond as you slipped into darkness, the feeling of something wet landing on your cheek was the last thing you remember feeling.
-
1 year later…
The sun was shining high on the horizon as Han-seok leaned against the railing on the balcony, his hand holding a mug of coffee. Ever since he left Korea, life has been amazing. Sure he’s not a top CEO anymore but it’s still fun feeding his crazy side by doing a lot of jobs under the radar. The money that you acquired from Vincenzo definitely helped a lot, and now he’s living the luxury life while owning a huge mansion — more like a manor — on top of a hill in Beverly Hills. On top of that, there’s that penthouse in New York and that gorgeous beach house in Miami.
What more can he want?
He felt your arms wrap themselves around his stomach as you hugged him from behind. You planted a soft kiss on his bare back before pressing your cheek against it.
“Why aren’t you in bed?”
“I wanted to admire the sunrise,” he chuckled and placed his coffee down. “But I might just admire you instead.”
He loves it when you wear his shirts. The way your soft legs are exposed to him and just seeing his stuff on you gives him the satisfaction that you’re actually his. He leaned down and kissed you before moving his lips towards your neck, already loving the feel of you shivering underneath his touch. He pulled you closer to him, his hands reaching down to squeeze your ass while you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“Are you not wearing underwear?”
“We literally had sex last night, why would I put underwear on?”
“Just thought you would, but,” he caught you by surprise by slipping his fingers against your wet folds. “This will make this much easier.”
Neither of you wasted time in undressing the other, and he picked you up and placed you down on the balcony table. He pumped himself a few times before slowly going inside of you, the feeling of your warm walls clasping around his dick caused him to moan. You hooked one of your legs around his waist and placed the other on his right shoulder. Han-seok began to thrust and pound into you, your moans and screams echoing throughout the hills.
You feel so fucking good. He kissed your ankle before leaning down to kiss your lips again, silencing you immediately.
“Fuck, you’re mine,” he moaned out. “All fucking mine. You look so pretty down there. My fucking girl.”
He wasn’t done with you yet — without slipping out of you — he switched positions and sat down on one of the chairs outside. You straddled his lap and began to rock your hips, the two of you becoming a hot moaning mess for each other. Han-seok wrapped his arm around you while using his other to hold your chin, making you look at him. Nothing will ever beat this. He’s got the life he wanted and the girl of his dreams. He has money. A small sense of power still. A great sex life. And gets to travel the world with you.
People like him and you deserve to go to hell, but fuck that, you both were in heaven, and that’s all that mattered.
“I fucking love you, my pretty girl.”
“I love you too, my handsome boy.”

pairing : jang junwoo // jang hanseok x reader
warnings : adult content (18+), smut, slight choking, cursing
word count : 1.8k
summary : After joining Hanseok’s team, you end up becoming surprisingly close to him
Tumblr media
The second you entered the large room, all eyes were on you, however it didn’t intimidate you, on the contrary, the corner of your mouth raised into a discreet smirk.
“Mr. Jang, this is the lawyer I talked to you about, Y/N.” Mrs. Choi introduced you to the tall, brown-haired man which you assumed was the boss, based on his rather dark yet charismatic aura.
“She is way younger than I thought.” He noticed, his gaze travelling all over your body. “Who would’ve thought such a young person carries the title of the best South Korea’s Lawyer.” He admitted, raising one of his eyebrows.
“If I’m not mistaken, you aren’t old either and yet you are Babel’s feared chairman. As you can see success has nothing to do with age.” You exclaimed, sitting down on one of the chairs.
You looked around the room and noticed everyone else besides you and the chairman, standing. Before you could comment anything, Mr. Jang nodded his head at them, as a sign to sit down.
In the corner of your eye, two unfamiliar men sitting at the table caught your attention. You must’ve not really seen them when you entered the room.
“May I ask who are you?” You looked at one of the men whose face had soft surprisingly soft features and dark, sliced back hair.
“I’m Jang Hanseo, the boss’s brother.” He said, looking around the room, seeming uncomfortable with eye contacts.
“My name is Han Seung Hyuk.” The second man spoke up and you gave them both a tiny smile before turning your head towards the chairman.
“Let’s go straight to the point, Mrs. Y/N are you willing to join my team and become even more successful than you already are?” He smirked, waiting for your answer.
“Well Mrs. Choi didn’t really go into details so I still don’t know what I would have to do specifically.” You admitted, leaning into your chair.
“Do what you’re the best at, defend me and Babel if we ever get into troubles. Babel is going to be very soon the most powerful company in South Korea so trust me, you won’t regret working with us.” He said shortly.
“Do you expect me to do anything else than defending, which include crimes and illegal activities?” You cocked your eyebrow, watching Mr. Jang’s lips turn into a smirk.
Thanks to the years of your career, you were able to read people better than books so the second you entered the room, you knew he wasn’t a simple, successful chairman. Maybe it was his dark gaze or his strange aura, you weren’t sure but something was off about him.
“I will be honest with you, Mrs. Y/N. You, personally won’t be involved in anything that goes against the law, you’ll leave it to us.” He said, sincerely not looking fazed by what you said.
“I’m in.”
After a few months, you got to know your team better and you often spent time with them outside of your work hours because their presence genuinely made you feel better. However, there was one particular person with whom you got significantly closer than with the others : Jang Hanseok.
Although, you promised yourself to never get your personal feelings involved in your work, you couldn’t help but feel your knees get weaker at every eye contact you shared with the chairman.
At first, you completely neglected your feelings, actually cursing yourself for acting this way until you started noticing Hanseok acting different than usually. Although he wanted to act indifferent, his body language heavily betrayed him.
Whenever you spoke to him, he’d lean towards you saying he couldn’t hear well, until your lips were practically a few centimetres away from each other.
But even though, you could read people like books, you weren’t a hundred precent confident Hanseok was into you, so you decided to let it slide for the time being.
The first serious charges towards Babel appeared on the internet after a few months since you’ve joined the team. Usually, Hanseok was able to make the articles disappear thanks to his connection but this time the charges were too serious and you needed to take it to the court.
Thanks your unbeatable lawyer skills, you had no issue winning against Vincenzo’s team. Even though they had proofs and witnesses, you predicted each one of their moves and you were able to defend Babel properly.
Once at Hanseok’s apartment, everyone clicked their glasses filled with champagne and celebrated your victory.
“Y/N you were amazing back there, you didn’t even stutter once!” Hanseo noticed, smiling at you.
“The key to success is confidence.” You admitted, comfortably leaning your body into the black couch.
“I have to admit, we would have been in a very bad spot if it wasn’t for you.” Mrs Choi added, sipping champagne afterwards.
“You all flatter me too much.” You laughed.
Everyone talked about the trial yet the person you were expecting to be the happiest among the team, didn’t even spare you a word. Hanseok was sitting on one of his armchairs, seeming lost in his own thoughts.
Midnight eventually came by and everyone decided to head to their houses. You bid your goodbyes to Hanseo, Mrs. Choi and Mr. Han who quickly left the mansion and you were about to put your shoes on when Hanseok grabbed your arm.
You turned around and you felt his his gaze pierce trough your soul. Your breath hitched when Hanseok’s eyes shamelessly stared at your lips, noticing his pupils expanding.
Without a second thought, Hanseok put his hand behind your neck and locked your lips together.
At first, you were in a state of shock, not excepting the evening to take such a 180° turn but you quickly smiled into the kiss, giving him the hint to continue.
“I didn’t get to properly thank you for what you did today.” He whispered, between the kisses. “So let me show you how grateful I am.” He smirked and suddenly picked you up, making you wrap your legs around his torso.
None of you dared to break the kiss and Hanseok eventually led you to his bedroom where he carefully laid you down on the massive bed.
“Properly thank me?” You cocked one of your eyebrows, looking at your boss who was on his knees between your legs.
“If it wasn’t for you, we would’ve lost over 760 million dollars today.” He admitted, slowly leaving a trail of wet kisses down your neck.
You couldn’t help but moan at the pleasing feeling of his hot tongue doing wonders on your sensitive skin. His big hands roamed over your body, driving you crazy.
“May I?” He looked at your shirt and one nod was enough for him to rip it open. He smirked as his eyes devoured your body. “Holy shit Y/N.”
You chuckled at his reaction and he quickly took off your pants, only leaving you in your undergarments. His mouth started savouring your chest, progressively going down your body until he was face to face with your private area.
He didn’t hesitate to bury his face inside you which took you by surprise and made you moan his name out loud. Your fingers gripped his locks while his mouth sent an euphoric feeling through your whole body.
“Han- Hanseok” You stuttered, gripping the white bedsheets next to you. A certain pressure started building in your lower abdomen.
“Let it out princess.” His raspy voice sent vibrations on your private area which only made the feeling ten times better.
As his dark eyes met yours, you moaned out loud and arched your back before you ended up coming into his mouth.
“You taste so good.” He hummed, still busy eating you out down there.
Although the pleasure felt like heaven, you started becoming too overwhelmed so you whined, slightly pulling at Hanseok’s hair.
He got the hint and slowly came back to hover above you. His well-built body and big muscles made you feel insanely small under him.
“Is someone tired already, hm?” He ran his finger under your chin and you felt his member pocking your inner thigh trough his pants.
You shook your head and slowly pumped him trough the fabric. He smirked and breathed out at the feeling. After helping him take off his clothes, you made him sit down on the bed with his back against the headboard.
“You’re driving me crazy Y/N.” He moaned when you left a few hickeys on his neck and chest, finally marking him as yours.
After a few minutes of kissing and teasing, you carefully positioned yourself between his legs and sat down on his member, making you both gasp out loud. Hanseok immediately placed his hands on your waist, waiting for you to adjust before helping you move.
“You good?” He breathed out and you nodded, feeling his manhood stretching you out.
Although you had a few boyfriends before him, none of them had such an impressive length like Hanseok did.
Once you were fully comfortable, you started riding him, making both of you moan in pleasure.
“Fuck.” He groaned, speeding up your movements.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and buried your face in his shoulder as a way to muffle your loud moans.
“Let me hear you baby.” He whispered, adding hip thrusts to match your movements and at the same time completely rocking your world.
When he saw you didn’t budge your head from his shoulder, he grabbed your neck with one his hands and slightly choked you which only brought you more pleasure. You leaned in and locked your lips together, the kiss being wet and messy.
After a few minutes you felt yourself clenching around his member, meaning you were close.
“Fuck do that again.” He moaned with his eyes closed and his head thrown back. You smirked at how submissive he looked in that particular moment.
His grip on your waist tightened, definitely leaving bruises, yet the pain added more pleasure.
You both eventually came together with loud moans echoing trough the empty house. Hanseok gently laid you down on your side and put your head on his chest, letting you rest. While you were busy regaining strength, he played with your hair and admired your face.
“Let’s go take a bath before sleeping.” He caressed your cheek and picked you up before leading you to the bathroom.
He carefully washed your whole body and gave you one of his shirts to wear in order to make you feel more comfortable. You both eventually fell asleep, tangled in each other’s arms, not fully knowing what tomorrow will bring. But none of you two cared. All that mattered at that moment was your presence besides each other.

The silence in the taxi was getting almost too silent. Your driver and you had ran out of things to talk about a long time ago and now you wished that the car drive would be over.
‘Are you here soon??’
The awkward atmosphere was now gone, thanks to a text message from your husband Junwoo. You looked out of the window to see that you were close to your destination. You quickly wrote an answer back: ‘I’ll be there in about 5 minutes’.
-
The car stopped suddenly and that made you almost drop your phone. “Hey can’t you drive correctly?!” You snapped at the driver. “I-I’m sorry sir but there’s people laying on the ground and-“ he started mumbling. You got out of the taxi and the driver wasn’t blathering some nonsense. There was three- no four men laying on the road groaning in pain. You knew what was going on and instantly tried calling Junwoo. When he wasn’t answering you hurriedly started running, heart beating faster than ever. The taxi driver yelled something about paying but you honestly weren’t focused on anything else than your husband. “If that fucking Vincenzo kills him..” you cursed under your breath.
When you finally got to the building, your legs felt like jelly but the adrenaline kept you going. You examined the current situation from afar and let out a sigh of relief. No one seemed to be dead.. at least not yet. After calming down a bit you started jogging again, only this time you were acting like a completely different person.
“Junwoo? Honey is everything okay??” You started yelling right before entering the house. When you finally stepped inside, you were met with the end of Vincenzo’s gun. Of course.
You raised your hands as a sign of surrender. “J-Junwoo what’s.. what’s going on?” You knew everything that was going on so your question was a bit useless. Vincenzo was here because his dear mother got killed. Vincenzo was also here to probably kill one of you.
Not a person dared to answer your question when the gun was now pointing at Junwoo. “I will give you three things” Vincenzo started. “A humiliation worse than death, unbearable pain and a slow death, where you’ll experience it every step of the way.” His voice and words sent chills down your spine… and probably everyone else’s as well.
“I should give you a preview” Vincenzo loaded his gun and you thought that he would shoot a vase or something like that as a warning but no. The firearm that was just pointing at your husband, was now pointed at you. Before you could process what was happening, a bullet went through your stomach.
You were gasping in pain as you tried walking forward only to stumble into a couch. “Y/N!!” Junwoo rushed to you while Seunghyuk and Myeonghui were trying to call an ambulance. “I.. I think I need to sit down..” you held onto Junwoo’s shoulder while he tried to stop the bullet wound from bleeding even more. Your husband sat you down to the floor, letting you lean against a wall. “It hurts, it really.. hurts so bad I didn’t think i-it..” you whimpered tears forming in your eyes. “I know it hurts. But you’re going to be okay. Just breathe. In and out.”
Junwoo was honestly not sure if you were going to be okay at all. A shot to the stomach was usually deadly. It was the false hope that kept him going. He just couldn’t imagine a life without you by his side. “Everything’s going to be fine, r-right y/n?” No answer. Junwoo’s heart probably skipped a beat when he looked back up and saw your eyes closed. “Y/n?? Wake up..please wake up! Now is not the time to die! WHAT’S TAKING THE AMBULANCE SO LONG??!!” he yelled panically.
“I’m fine.. I’m.. I’m awake” you mumbled barely conscious. “I’m just really tired that’s all.” Junwoo saw flashing lights come from the ambulance outside and a flame of hope lit inside of him again. “I.. I know you’re tired. But you can’t fall asleep okay? You n-need to promise me that you won’t fall asleep.”
“Y/n..?”
