#It's a subtler ralex but I sort of imagined this in the same universe as the Ralex Doodle prompt fill I did forever ago

I was thinking of you and got you this for Reggie/Alex plz and thank
The day was wrong. It wasn’t bad per se, but there was definitely something off about it. Like an itch he couldn’t ignore, the feeling plagued Reggie all day.
He tried to not let anyone see that something was bothering him. Because, well, technically nothing was wrong or bothering him. At least nothing he could readily identify, and if he couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong then it stood to reason that nothing was wrong.
By all accounts it should have been a great day.
He had a rare quiet morning getting ready for school. He even had enough time to get a decent breakfast for once-though Bobby and Alex would probably disagree that toasted pop tarts counted as decent. They were a hell of a lot better than his usual nothing.
There wasn’t anything special or different about the school day either. Sure, he had a little trouble focusing, but he always had issues focusing in school. And in Mr. Esaiman’s class when he mindlessly scribbled in the margins of his notebook because he couldn’t think of anything worth doodling he figured it was because of the weird way Alex started staring at him halfway through class.
After school,  he continued to ignore the ‘off’ feeling. He attempted to get some homework in the relative peace he’d found at home, both of his parents still at work.
Eventually as the itch of something being off became more difficult to ignore Reggie decided to head over to the studio.
He doesn’t expect to find Alex already there. Bobby? Maybe, it was technically his family's garage after all. Luke? Frankly, it was odder that he wasn’t there. Almost as odd as finding Alex alone in the studio not at his drum kit.
But there he was lounging on the couch reading a book, a greasy brown bag and a couple of cups sitting on the ground beside him.
“Hey,” Alex greets without looking up from his book as he hands over the larger paper cup, which is actually a strawberry milkshake Reggie realizes once he takes it. “Was beginning to wonder when you’d show up here.”
Reggie just stands there staring at the blonde, all his thanks and questions trapped somewhere between his brain and his mouth. Alex seems to hear them anyway and shrugs adding, “I didn’t feel like being at home today and got hungry. Thought one of you goofs would eventually show up so I bought some extras.”
Portions of that were clearly lies. Reggie was really the only one of them that liked strawberry milkshakes. Looking in the brown bag Alex tossed his way he spotted the nuggets and honey mustard dipping sauce amongst the spilled fries, again, items Reggie preferred.
In fact, the only thing Alex seemed to have gotten for himself, or that Luke and Bobby might have wanted, was the other smaller drink and maybe the fries.
As Reggie stood contemplating he realized, maybe it wasn’t lies. Maybe Alex was giving him the opportunity to keep pretending there wasn’t anything off about today.
“Thanks.” he finally managed to chirp, as he sat on the floor leaning back against the couch and began to devour the food. “Whatcha reading?”
Alex smiles over the book, which is clearly a copy of The Giver, but Reggie pretends to not notice, allowing Alex to snark out some form of reply. The off feeling doesn’t fully go away as the two of them begin to discuss the book but Reggie definitely begins to feel more at ease than he had all day.
